One of my favourite rock albums of the year for sure!
- Ghostcult (US)

Desert/stoner vibes with added big time sensuality.
- Metal Hammer (UK)

If Björk ditched the avant-pop, listened to a load of early Sabbath and Jesus and Mary Chain records and started a new band, it might sound like this.
- Classic Rock (UK)

Today, unique Swedish psychedelic rock band GAUPA is celebrating the release of its sophomore album, Myriad. It features eight diverse and exquisitely crafted songs that keep strolling around between progressive rock, psychedelic & stoner rock, doom and folk. An eclectic and unpredictable, yet very mature record by a band that is destined to win over any open-minded music enthusiast from each branch the heavy rock spectrum has to offer.

In celebration, GAUPA have released a gorgeous animated video for the album's powerful opening track 'Exoskeleton'. The clip was created by Simon Hjortek who has already worked on some of GAUPA's previous, visually striking music videos. Here, he combined retro sci-fi with mind-bending surrealism perfectly matching the dream-like atmosphere that runs like a golden thread through GAUPA's body of work.

ABOUT GAUPA:
With surreal lyrics, an energetic, very unique singer, and an addictive sound that combines progressive stoner rock with doom, folk and psychedelic rock influences, GAUPA released their self-titled debut EP in June 2018 and have since made a name for themselves in the international underground rock scene. The GAUPA EP was well received and led to the band playing one of their first live performances at Scandinavia’s biggest rock festival, Sweden Rock. GAUPA then got a chance to release the EP on vinyl via German label Kozmik Artifactz in October 2019 and went on to playing a solid number of shows and festivals. Critics were impressed, not only by the studio recordings and their diverse & complex arrangements, but also by the level of intensity the band displayed live.

In April 2020 GAUPA, which means "lynx" in Swedish dialect, followed up their debut EP by releasing their first full length album, Feberdröm, gaining even more attention from both, an international audience as well as the world's biggest metal label: NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS.

Jens Prueter, Head Of A&R at Nuclear Blast Records Europe stated: "“While most newcomer bands struggled during the Corona pandemic, GAUPA managed to grow in quality. Their unique sound hasn’t remained unnoticed and word of mouth spread fast. Once we had seen their live stream show and had some video conferences, we knew they would sit well in an artist roster that contains some of their favourite bands, even if GAUPA isn’t very metal at all. But it’s that attitude to tear down boundaries between genres – just for the sake of art. We are proud to welcome them in good company.

In 2021, GAUPA re-entered the studio to record their second full-length album Myriad, which will be released on November 18, 2022. GAUPA have currently been focussing on the Swedish festival Summer of 2022, but they are already working with great excitement on tours that will bring them to new stages all over the world.

GAUPA Release Lyric Video For New Single "Moloken"

New Album "Myriad" Out On Nov 18th

Today, unique Swedish rock band GAUPA are pleased to share with you the third single from their forthcoming album, Myriad, which will be released on November 18, 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Hauntingly atmospheric tune 'Moloken' emerges disguised as an innocent ballad, before it ultimately reveals its dark, heavy core. This is GAUPA at their most introverted, striking in their unpredictability, yet they always find the right moment to let loose and simply let the guitars do the talking.

The song comes with a lyric video, which you can watch below.

GAUPA's sophomore album Myriad features eight diverse and exquisitely crafted songs that keep strolling around between progressive rock, psychedelic & stoner rock, doom and folk. An eclectic and unpredictable, yet very mature record by a band that is destined to win over any open-minded music enthusiast from each branch the heavy rock spectrum has to offer.

Emma Näslund (Vocals) comments:
"'Moloken' is a Swedish word that according to Google translate means “the moloch”. Whether this is true, I can’t tell you. It comes down to the concept of Swedish melancholy - to be downcast and to feel small.

This is a highly Swedish thing and I would say it peaks in November when the fire leafs have fallen and the trees are naked patiently awaiting their winter coat of frost and snow.

This is when you really start to feel the darkness. It seeps into every inch of your being. I think this feeling is captured in this song, which is not really a happy go lucky tune. Whether it comes from you, the world, a strung out relationship or just the weather isn’t really important. There is just this feeling. But as soon as the snow sets, the sky lightens and another wave of hope enters."

Emma Näslund (Vocals) comments:
"When people hear that you play music, at first some think it’s really cool.
But when it comes down to it they condemn it.

The time you have to put in to your craft and rehearsals and meetings etc.
Some people think it’s just sliding around in VIP areas on a shrimp sandwich.
Others would argue that it’s time to give up your “hobby” up and do something “real”.

But some things you can’t stop doing.
Art needs be created.
Music needs to be created.
There is always room for more and it’s important to keep going.
I guess some people just needs to create music and art or they’ll implode.

Diametrical Enchantress was the last song we wrote for the album Myriad. It’s freeing because it just came out of us as certainly as mosquitoes in summer."

Swedish Post-Rock Duo OH HIROSHIMA Shares New Music Video for Epic Single "All Things Pass"!

New Album, Myriad, out March 4, 2022 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order HERE!

March 4, 2022 will see Swedish post-rock duo OH HIROSHIMA release their haunting fourth studio album, Myriad, via Napalm Records. Following their latest magnum opus, Oscillation(2019), and due to pandemic lockdowns, the band channeled all of their time and creativity into delivering an epic successor. It’s that mixture of emotions – from infinite sadness to moments of clarity and heart-rending melodies blending into a rumbling volcano of aesthetic noise and ferocious power, but also the unique use of trumpets, cello and trombones throughout – that sees OH HIROSHIMA outclass and grow renowned not only in post-rock circles, but beyond.

The mournful key-based intro of their brand new single, “All Things Pass”, leads into the darkest, bleakest facets of OH HIROSHIMA’s epic sonic universe, while its glistening guitar lines and the otherworldly voice of Jakob Hemström match the imposing melancholy of the track and throughout the record. Give ear, as today the brothers share a video clip for “All Things Pass”

Says Jakob Hemström:

"‘All Things Pass’ is a song about the constant flow of time and an embracing of the endless chain of changes it brings. We thought it would be nice to have a song with a clear chorus on Myriad, as that's something we haven't really had in the past, and we think this one did the trick. The video was once again directed by the band and filmed and edited by our drummer, Oskar."

Upon becoming a duo due to former bassist Simon Forsberg departing the band in early 2021, OH HIROSHIMA were provided a challenging chance to step up their songwriting game. There is still a hefty dose of post-rock to be heard on Myriad, but brothers Jakob Hemström and Oskar Nilsson managed to kick down the creative walls of the band, making use of a much broader musical palette.

Recorded by Kristian Karlsson (pg.lost, Cult Of Luna), and once again mixed and mastered by Cult Of Luna’s Magnus Lindberg, with Myriad, OH HIROSHIMA demonstrate outstanding ability – melding captivating melody with epic, fulminating fervency, and delivering a majestic masterpiece that will undoubtedly be an early album of the year contender!

Pre-Order Myriad HERE!

Myriad will be available in the following formats:

- 6 Page CD Digipak

- Purple Gatefold Vinyl LP

- Digital Album

Band mastermind Jakob Hemström says:

"‘Humane’ might be the most direct and intense song we've created as a band. For us it marks a somewhat new direction that we wanted to explore and we're very proud of how it turned out. We felt right away that this was the first song of the new album we wanted our listeners to hear. The lyrics revolve around themes of human hubris and the video was filmed, directed and edited by our drummer, Oskar."
