HELGA premiere second track 'Burden'

A vast exploration of sonic textures present themselves on HELGA's premier album 'Wrapped in Mist', as chugging riffs, spectral strings and imposing drums converge into one.

The second single, 'Burden', recounts a tale of relinquishment and its complexity - introspective and intricate musical passages culminate in a reassuring mélange of emotions, as Helga recognizes having finally found her place in this world.

"The first track written for the album, ‘Burden’ was inspired by the pain of leaving my home in the Dalarna woods and the hope that comes with new connections and relationships", says vocalist Helga Gabriel.

Watch the video for 'Burden' below.

'Wrapped in Mist' comes out November 24.

Hailing from the Swedish hinterlands of Dalarna and
Halifax, West Yorkshire, HELGA amalgamated in 2019 in
York, North Yorkshire. United by singer, Helga Gabriel, the
quintet delve into a musical alchemy on their pursuit of
darker manifestations.

“We draw on many different influences from Swedish folk
to progressive metal to post-rock to black metal to pop.
Distilling this into a single style is a challenge.” -Cai S.

Summoning this plethora of layers and genre, HELGA
culminate their premier album Wrapped in Mist into
dirgeful lamentations of mortality and mental health,
punctuated by formidable drumming, spectral strings and
chugging riffs.

The album’s opening track, Skogen mumlar (The Forest
Murmurs), transcends forthwith into emotive dreamscapes
that leave hairs trembling, Ennio Morricone echoing as the
intro’s muse.

But as the journey through Wrapped in
Mist transpires, songs such as Farväl (Farewell) reveal
HELGA’s black metal and darker sensibilities. Bewitching
through this myriad range, the album’s waltzing coda flirts
with a melodic baroque that crescendos with Opeth-esque
climax.

The inception of Wrapped in Mist promises to plunge
HELGA deep into the spotlight of mesmerising live
performances following release. From the hills and forests
of rural dwelling, this is a band destined for a journey worth
following.

Glassing Release New Single “Burden”

Announce New Album “Twin Dream” Out November 5th via Brutal Panda

Brutal Panda Records have announced a November 5th release date of Twin Dream, the third full-length offering from Austin, TX multidimensional trio GLASSING. The album is a sonic mirror of our era and nothing short of immense, ranging from grim to hopeful to destructive to cathartic, oftentimes all within a single song. Throughout Twin Dream, GLASSING channel multifarious energies that delve deep into the Underland while simultaneously exploring the celestial.

Today the band have released the lead single from the album “Burden,” with RevolverMagazine. Stream the new song alongside the previously released title track HERE: https://smarturl.it/GlassingTwinDreamLP ;

Of the song and album, vocalist/bassist Dustin Coffman says, “This song began when Cory sent Jason and myself a collection of riffs and song ideas during quarantine to work with for when we got back into the studio after finishing up with “Spotted Horse”. Some of them were left as rough ideas but the opening riff of this song in particular stuck out to us as being staggeringly cool in its simplicity. Around this time I was going through some personal changes with people very close to me and the lyrics of this song began strictly as an artistic outlet during a rough period. It was only later, when the poems became lyrics, did I realize my words were all one big projection of my own insecurities at the time. The product of emotional dishonesty, the line “Is your heart not in this” was a message to myself and another hopeless way of making amends. This is the reason I chose to speak the words rather than scream them at the very end of the song, they needed to be crystal clear so the message to myself could be heard.”

Twin Dream is available for pre-order HERE:

Twin Dream was recorded with Andrew Hernandez (This Will Destroy You, Balmorhea, The Sword, Mammoth Grinder) in a remote Texas studio replete with crumbling infrastructure and the ghosts of country troubadours echoing amongst the walls. Elements of post-hardcore, black metal, noise rock, ambient, shoegaze, and doom swirl together to create a rich palette of mood and textures across 11 tracks that ruminate on splintered realities, altered consciousness, and esoteric philosophy. While the world burned on the outside, the music took on an entirely new meaning and those that survived the nightmare were left with a newfound sense of hope amongst the bleak reality. Twin Dream is the archetypal soundtrack to these end of times.

More About Glassing

ATX based Glassing, is a three piece genre blending amalgamation of heavy music saturated sonorously in dejection. Notable elements of Post Rock, Shoegaze, Doom, and American Black Metal, Glassing have been making music that walks the line between all 4 genres seemingly all at once. Fronted by Cory Brim on guitars, Dustin Coffman on bass and vocals, and Jason Camacho on drums, each individual has a mastery of control over each genre, brandishing an outward love and appreciation for all of them simultaneously. This type of coalescence has prompted an estrangement towards traditional fans of metal excluding them from the genre for some almost entirely. Flaunting an unapologetic stance towards moving their style forward in any way they can, Glassing simply creates what they wish to hear for themselves. Using each division as a medium of creativity with no restrictions to genre traditionalism or gatekeeping. Since their conception in 2015 they have come out with one self-titled EP, the two LP's "Light And Death" and "Spotted Horse" and are anticipating the release of their third full length record aptly named "Twin Dream". Since the recording of “Twin Dream”, the band has brought synth and midi noise master Shaun Ringsmuth of Street Sects on board for live show performances and future compositions.
