Åskväder Returns with New Single & Music Video for "Cyclops”

STREAM "Cyclops" HERE

Åskväder returns with the single and music video "Cyclops". The single is the first new music from the Swedish group since their second studio album 'Fenix' was released in March earlier this year, and offers an energetic mixture of Scandinavian garage rock, catchy hooks and bluesy licks.

"Cyclops” is the first of two new tracks which Åskväder recorded during the second half of 2022. The single is released together with a music video made by Carl Stenlöv.

Åskväder on "Cyclops":

"Our idea was to create a fast-paced track with some great dynamics to it and of course also add our signum - hooks, groove and hooks. Our goal for the buildup of the song is that the listeners should be compelled, through the duration of this gem, to raise their fists in the air and start head banging.  We are deeply troubled by the recent events in the world such as the ongoing war and injustices taking place and 'Cyclops' is our effort to express our thoughts. The lyrical content is of great importance to us and it kind of wrote itself as it is a storm of feelings channeled through our music. We are proud of the results and hope you'll enjoy the track - we enjoyed every part of creating it."

"Cyclops” is out now on all streaming platforms. The single is released on The Sign Records.

Electrifying Swedish rockers Åskväder makes thunder and lightning through music. Well balanced seasoning to the sound of the 90s Scandinavian rock scene, mixed up with smoking hot riffs drenched in bluesy licks and catchy refrains. Add to this, hammering drum and bass grooves, with a topping of elaborate vocal harmonies.

While capturing some of the influences from the legends of our time such as The Hellacopters and Turbonegro, Åskväder manages to stay in their own lane, creating their own style of rock for a new decade.

Åskväder is Swedish and translates to 'Thunderstorm'.

That says it all. No fuss, just straight Rock 'n' Roll.

Hailing from the west coast of Sweden, Åskväder released their debut EP 'Quick Fixes'in 2018. In 2020, the band joined forces with The Sign Records for the release of their debut, self-titled studio album.

In 2022, Åskväder returns with their second full-length effort, 'Fenix'. The new album takes the Åskväder sound heard on the debut album to a new level.

Mixed by Kalle Lilja & Per Stålberg (Welfare Sounds), who truly put an intense vibe to the album.

Åskväder was formed in 2018 and consists today of Kammo Olayvar with his lightning speed bass grooves, Tim Ferm on drumrolls, Albin Sörensson on lead vocals and Martin Gut bending guitar strings and singing harmonies.

Look out for Åskväder!

Åskväder Release New Studio Album 'Fenix'

Electrifying garage rock outfit Åskväder have released their sophomore studio album, 'Fenix'. Following the release of the Swedes self-titled debut from 2020, Åskväder returns with a collection of 12 new tracks. Recorded live in studio, 'Fenix' captures the essence of the band’s energetic and direct sound. Combining bluesy guitar licks with groovy rhythms, thundering bass lines, and catchy, melodic hooks, Åskväder’s new album brings straight forward, 90’s inspired Scandinavian garage rock to the modern-day and age.

Martin Gut from the band about the new album:

"The name of the album came because we as a band in many ways hit a big bump in the road after the first album was released. Fenix is the sequel and is a symbol for rebirth. Covid struck and, unfortunately, we had some changes in our line up which put the band in a tough spot. However, with new members and the absence of Covid, we have preserved our sound and thoughts about music in general and the music itself has evolved with the contribution of the new members. The songs are recorded live this time, something that really puts a nice vibe to them, in the enriched Welfare Sounds which also has helped us reach our musical vision.”

Åskväder's sophomore studio album 'Fenix' is out today via The Sign Records. The album is out now on all streaming platforms. The CD and vinyl versions are set for release in May and can be pre-ordered now. 'Fenix' was recorded and produced by Åskväder, Kalle Lilja and Per Stålberg. The album was mixed by Kalle Lilja and Per Stålberg at Welfare Sounds Studio, and mastered by Magnus Lindberg at Redmount Studios.

Åskväder Release Energetic New Single "Zealot"

New Album, 'Fenix', Out March 25th!

Sweden’s Åskväder have released the fourth and final single from their upcoming sophomore album 'Fenix'. The new song, titled "Zealot”, is a punchy and direct track with a driving drum beat and electrifying melodies. The single is a true outburst of garage rock energy, recorded live in the studio.

Martin Gut from the band comments on the single:

”Zealot was a really tough one to record, definitely the song that took the most amount of takes to get right. The inspiration for writing the track came from listening to a podcast about the band Enforcer. To put it short, this track is Åskväder’s take on speed metal. The lyrics describe how life can change quickly for the little man depending on circumstances that are bigger than ourselves, and how we have to follow the rules of the system fanatically.”

Åskväder's sophomore studio album 'Fenix' will see a March 25th, 2022 release via The Sign Records.

Martin Gut from the band comments on the single:

"Let You Down is a love song picturing a very close relationship between two people. It describes the will to always be close, to help, and to support. Maybe this is an unusual topic in the world of rock n roll and maybe it is not cool, but hey we are not too cool for school anyway. This is a track that we are really proud of and a track that we will be a definite choice for our live shows."

Åskväder Release New Single "When We Fall" - New Album 'Fenix' Coming In 2022

Åskväder are back with the first new music since their 2020 self-titled debut album. The electrifying Swedish band combines the sound of the 90s Scandinavian rock scene with a classic blues-rock approach on their brand new single ”When We Fall”, which is out now on all streaming platforms. The track is the first taste of Åskväder’s new album, 'Fenix', which is set for worldwide release on The Sign Records in early 2022.

Martin Gut from the band comments:

The lyrics of the song are describing the inevitable ruin of mankind. To be stuck in apathy facing the abyss. The song was named after a band that our old bass player Staffan Persson had in his 20's as a tribute to him. The awesome riff that gets the song started is something we are especially proud of.

Åskväder Release Music Video for New Single "Claptrap" - Sophomore Album 'Fenix' Coming March 2022!

Swedish rockers Åskväder have returned with the electrifying track "Claptrap". A thunderstorm of energetic, '90s inspired garage rock, bluesy guitar licks, and standout choruses. The single is the second one leading up to Åskväder’s sophomore album 'Fenix', which is set for release in Spring 2022 via The Sign Records.

Martin Gut from the band comments:

"The concept of this specific song was to start it right away with the chorus. Our very wise mentor and the tycoon of our record label Kaj Sivervik once told us that this concept is the way to reach the top. Ironically the lyrics of the song are describing someone who really wants to be a rock star and unfortunately fails big time. The 1000-dollar question remains, will we succeed?"
