Today, RUNE is pleased to announce that she has signed with UNFD and is sharing the video for shimmery new single "Fast Asleep."

Watch it Below.

The song is a powerful exercise in processing grief and all of its emotional tentacles.

"'Fast Asleep' was written when I was deep in my grief," RUNE recalls. "It was truly suffocating, where I felt like I lost myself and all that was left was a sad, grieving husk. On some of the most painful nights early on, I used to dream of the person I lost. This song is about those dreams. The lyrics in the chorus, 'I know you're somewhere, holding me down in the darkest moment.' When I am fast asleep, it's a representation of this feeling of safety from their presence in your dreams, feeling like the spirit of this person is trying to communicate with you in your dream state and make you feel safe. Continuing on, 'I know that you would save me, if you could, pull me through, reaching out, violets, bloom in you, violence.'"

RUNE continues, "This is one of my favorite lyrical sections of the song because it feels a bit like a dance between peace and the pain felt. It's the idea that you know if the person could, they would save you from the pain, but unfortunately, you are a few degrees of separation away. You reach out for them, and this is where your dream begins to fade away. The light begins to fade. Violence."

And there you have it.

Expect more from RUNE very soon.
