Though never intended to leave the studio, Thy Catafalque has grown into a soaring - and roaring - live act. Tamás Kátai and his ever-expanding cast of collaborators are performing at Hellfest, Rockstadt Extreme, Alcatraz and other European festivals this summer before embarking on their first-ever tour of Latin America.
"This is a massive step-up for Thy Catafalque", Kátai says. "We are very excited to play for our fans in places where we've never gone before".
As they prepare to light up the world stage, today, Thy Catafalque are releasing a live video from last year's hometown performance of the heaviest song off their dreamy twelfth album.
Watch Thy Catafalque perform "Vasgyár" live at Dürer Kert - Below:
XII: A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek (The Beautiful Dreams Are Yet to Come) is out now on Season of Mist.

As the main conductor behind Thy Catafalque, Tamás Kátai has journeyed far beyond his humble beginnings during the late '90s. But "Vasgyár" ties to his past in more ways than one. Not only does the song gets its name from the rusted-out ironworks that once fueled the Hungarian economy. Its steaming blast beats and blackened chug call back to the ashen pyres that forged Thy Catafalque's initial offerings.
And yet - Thy Catafalque's twelfth album only goes to show how far this one-time studio project has come. Joined by the fearsome growls of Zoltán Kónya, along with many other familiar faces from across his avant-garde discography, last year, Kátai performed "Vasgyár" for a sold-out crowd at Dürer Kert, which remains one of Hungary's most influential underground venues. As spacey synth and a stirring violin solo weave as one with the track's heavy bass line, it's clear to everyone watching that Thy Catafalque are still progressing to new heights.
