Singer-songwriter Fancy Hagood knows that life is more fun with friends, and his new EP, Smothered, Covered & Fried, is a savory compilation of favorite songs and kindred artists. The EP will be released June 5 with a pre-add/pre-save available May 30 here.
The collection brings together some of Hagood’s most beloved and iconic tracks, featuring an incredible lineup of artists who add their unique flavor to each song. The EP includes “Hell On Hells” with She Returns From War and Jamie Wyatt, “From This Moment On” with TJ Osborne, “Better Man” with The Kentucky Gentlemen, and “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” with Brooke Eden.
“Smothered, Covered & Fried is one of my favorite projects I’ve ever worked on,” says Hagood. “Getting to collaborate with other queer country artists to put our own spin on songs that everyone is familiar with feels really powerful. This EP is a collective of artists proudly saying that country music is for everyone!”
In addition to the collaborations, the EP includes Hagood’s version of the Stevie Nicks classic, “Landslide.” “I have loved this song as long as I can remember,” says Hagood. “I covered it on Instagram years ago and it brought love into my life for the very first time. That chapter of my life has come to an end, and I wanted to honor the beauty of being loved and loving someone else by putting my own spin on Stevie’s timeless song.
"The lyric ‘I’ve been afraid of changing, cause I built my life around you’ means so much more to me. The opportunity to sail through the changing tides as seasons end and new ones begin feels more and more like a gift. It was a gift to feel loved for the first time.”
Fancy Hagood’s Smothered, Covered & Fried is more than just an EP; it’s a celebration of community, collaboration and the inclusive spirit of music. By bringing together diverse voices and perspectives, Hagood is not only redefining the genre but also showcasing that great music knows no boundaries.
