With her latest single “Hell in a Handbag,” singer/songwriter Britnee Kellogg—ONErpm Nashville’s newest signing—is ready to take this town by storm. An American Idol alum (seasons 11 and 12) and mother of three, Kellogg is making a name for herself in a crowded female country artist landscape with insightful lyrics that resonate with real women.
“In this space,” the 39-year-old recently told People magazine, “there’s so much pop country from young artists ... and there’s a place for it, but I don’t really feel like we have that grown-ass woman right now that can speak to the moms struggling to make ends meet.”
The product of a single mom and her own tumultuous first marriage, Kellogg gets it.
“They don’t want to listen to a song about a breakup. They’re in the trenches and they need a song to put on to make them feel empowered. And that’s really what I want my music to do.”
Like her last release, “She’s Come a Long Way”—an anthem celebrating women who have overcome adversity—“Hell in a Handbag,” produced by Autumn McEntire and Jared Conrad and written by Tori Tullier, Alyssa Micaela and Olivia Rudeen, is again championing the cause, just in a slightly different manner. With lines like Might get a few looks for the flask full of whiskey and packets of Pedialyte, Kellogg exposes the flaws modern women have, daring the listener to take her to task for admitting them:
I got an old parking ticket that I'm never gonna pay,
And an empty liquor bottle from an airplane;
Got a lighter that I borrowed from a cowboy in Texas,
Still got the spare key to my ex’s Lexus;
A can of dry shampoo and a toothpaste tube
for nights I don't make it home;
Add the Advil to that and a couple red flags,
Yeah, you could say I'm going to hell in a handbag
“We know how fortunate we are to work with Britnee. Her songs express a point of view we rarely get to hear today,” says Shelby Kennedy, ONErpm Nashville’s director of A&R. “At ONErpm, we believe ‘unique deserves unique,’ and that is why we are extremely excited to work with such a strong new talent.”

A Vancouver, Wash., native, Kellogg’s love of country music started at age 6 when she attended a Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash concert. Smitten from the first note, Kellogg knew even then she had found her chosen career. Today, you’ll find her sharing the stage with artists such as Blake Shelton, Eric Paslay, Lee Brice, Kane Brown, Little Big Town and Keith Urban.
Kellogg is currently performing on stages across the U.S., writing new music and recording in the studio. She is booked by The Kinkead Entertainment Agency, Nashville.
