“There’s nothing like getting out on the road and taking music to the fans,” Shelton said. “I feel just as excited to step on stage and perform as I did the very first time. I know my tour mates Carly Pearce and Jackson Dean feel the same, and I can’t wait for y’all to get to know them better. Break out the hats and boots, ‘cause we’re going back to the honky tonk!”

Shelton has ranked among Pollstar’s Top 200 North American Tours nearly every year for the past decade. His Back to the Honky Tonk Tour follows consecutive Friends And Heroes outings, each of which earned widespread critical praise. The Spokesman-Review lauded it as “a showcase for Shelton’s natural charisma, talent and humor,” while The Seattle Times declared, “Blake Shelton knows how to show folks a great time.”

The beloved recording artist is indeed going back to the honky tonk with his latest single, “No Body” (LISTEN HERE). “No Body” became the most added song at country radio upon impact last month. The song is “soaked in ‘90s country vibes” (Billboard), and its official music video features line-dancing at a country bar – complete with Shelton sporting his signature mullet

For fans who can’t wait until 2023: Shelton will perform “No Body” tomorrow night (9/8) on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He will then take the hallowed stage at the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday, Sept. 10. Visit HEREto locate additional tour dates through the end of the year.

CRAZY SWEDES Partner with Metal Injection to Premiere "Key Lime" Video

Jam-band rockers CRAZY SWEDES have partnered with Metal Injection for an exclusive premiere of their music video for "Key Lime", which can be found below. The video was shot by Emmy-winning cinematographer Taylor Morrison, chopped by celebrated editor Hue Hughes, and directed by Swedes guitarist Will Severin, who shares,

“A lot of the record is an homage to our music heroes, and 'Key Lime' is no different. A fellow guitar player I know took a few lessons from Allan Holdsworth (one of Van Halen’s idols) and told me a story about making Allan a key lime pie. I thought that was so random. So, that’s where the name came from. The track is definitely inspired by Holdsworth. He was a superhuman guitarist to be sure!"

Severin adds: "A lot of the other cuts on the Deluxe Edition are tips of the hat to our musical influences. All the guys in the band are killer players and bring a lot musically to the table. For me, it was a great change of pace to get back to just playing guitar again after a few years of lead vocal duties for Infinite Spectrum. With CRAZY SWEDES we all challenge each other, and it's the perfect band to stretch out and just play. There’s a lot of variety on the new release, catchy hooks, and a very healthy dose of shredding!"

Originally released on August 20, 2021, the band is back with three new tracks to add to an already outstanding debut entry. In addition to the 10 tracks found on the standard version, the deluxe edition includes live covers of Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and "Stratus" by Billy Cobham, along with an original acoustic track, "Indigo Chrome".

The deluxe edition of 'Crazy Swedes' will be released on September 23rd.

STRIGOI Premieres New Song + Music Video, "An Ocean of Blood"

Blackened death doom outfit STRIGOI, the brainchild of Greg Mackintosh (PARADISE LOST, VALLENFYRE) and CHRIS CASKET (VALLENFYRE), will be releasing its sophomore full-length, 'Viscera,' via Season of Mist on September 30, 2022, making it the band's debut to the label. The band is now premiering the official music video for the latest single, "An Ocean of Blood." The video can be found below

STRIGOI comments: "We chose this track as the third single taken from our new album VISCERA due to it's almost cinematic take on the internal and external conflict of existence. A transformational journey into the bloodshed and horror of the human condition."

Pre-save 'Viscera' across streaming services HERE and pre-order physical copies HERE.

Unsettling: it’s a word which can be used to describe a good swathe of the music which has come from the mind of Greg Mackintosh over the years, but in the context of Strigoi, it feels particularly apt.

Formed immediately after previous side project Vallenfyre had run its course, Strigoi found Greg and Vallenfyre bassist Chris Casket reconfiguring the aesthetics of that band. Their 2019 debut, Abandon All Faith, was a notable transition, taking the crust punk, death metal and grind influences which had defined Vallenfyre and deriving from those an extreme music amalgam which was altogether more...well, unsettling.

But if Abandon All Faith was a record where the memory of Vallenfyre exerted an inevitable, but important, influence, then second album Viscera is where Strigoi define and express themselves on their own terms.

“It’s the second album and we’re pushing those limits,” says Chris Casket. “The longer songs are longer; the shorter songs are shorter. It’s fully realising the concept. When we did the first album, there were certain expectations as we were coming from Vallenfyre. I felt that it was a really good transition from one to the other. But I feel that with this record, it’s more of a fully fleshed out concept. It’s pushing the light and shade further out.”

“The first album was us giving it its own identity separate from Vallenfyre, even though it’s kind of an obvious continuation, in a way,” adds Greg. “But with Viscera, it’s a combination of pushing the envelope a little bit, making it a bit less raw. Because, we had done that to the Nth degree with Vallenfyre. I’d also say there’s a bit of sound design in there, too, to make it very creepy and, yes, unsettling, sound wise.”

With Covid thwarting Strigoi’s plans to do shows to promote Abandon All Faith, Greg and Chris used the down-time to work on what would eventually become Viscera.

“We have a strange way of working,” says Chris. “I will send words, prose, whatever it may be to Greg. He likes that process, because he reads what I’ve written and it inspires the music he comes up with. I’ve never worked that way before. But that and the added time we had, the space away from things, is what I think has made Viscera what it is.”

Greg adds, “If it’s a song where Chris’ lyrics sound angry, I’ll do a song that’s more, I guess, grounded in the essence of early grindcore. Something that expresses that mood. But if it’s something more sombre or unnerving, then I’ll start with a bit of sound design and work towards riffs. I’ve always thought of music in terms of visuals, and that might come from the lyrics. The last song on the album, ‘Iron Lung’, for example: I actually said to Chris that I had an idea for a song where it feels that you can’t breathe, that it feels like you’ve got a weight on your chest. And the result is probably the toughest going song on the record to get through. But I think it does get that across.”

Viscera, then, clearly defines the Strigoi sound and vision – as Chris says, it’s a “mix tape of misery” and points at ways in which the band may develop in the years ahead.

“I get bored easily,” Greg laughs. “I’ve got a very short attention span. I love doom metal, I love funeral doom, crust punk, grindcore...all these things. But usually after two songs of each I’m thinking, ‘Right, what’s next?’ And that’s my problem, but it does determine what this band and this music is like.”

“There’s not much light on this record at all. If there’s any, it’s there just to emphasise how dark the shade is, really. And what I loved about early death metal, which is when I got into it, is that everything had its own feel back then. That was at the back of my mind the whole time when making Viscera – that I wanted to give it its own feel. But the listeners are going to have to decide whether that was successful or not.”

Isafjørd to Release New Album 'Hjartastjaki' December 2nd

Isafjørd, meaning literally fjord of ice, is a shining new ethereal Post-rock band from Iceland.

Named after the town that both of their fathers came from, Ísafjörður, Aðalbjörn Addi Tryggvason (Sólstafir) and Ragnar Zolberg (Sign/x-Pain of Salvation) sculpt beautiful and desolate pop, as bright and dark as the sub-arctic seasons.

Isafjørd’s new album “Hjartastjaki” is an infectious rush of euphoric melancholy, quiet-loud dynamism, lush instrumentation and unforgettable atmospheric landscapes of song.

Meeting on the road, night creatures of the same renowned Reykjavik music scene, Ragnar playing live session bass for Sólstafir, Addi and Ragnar’s musical paths finally intersect in Isafjørd with a sound that reaches like a stalactite from the past into a gleaming future.

Holed up in the middle of winter, in an old house with a broken piano in the freezing cold, 'Hjartastjaki' is an album of songs that were written straight from the heart, sometimes in a single day.

Their chemistry as immediate as the climate they survive in, Isafjørd is a real meeting of spirits, with Ragnar’s sleek and cherubim voice a brilliant counterpoint to Addi’s dusty and aching cries, over orchestrated build-ups of soaring piano and sliding guitars. The catchy and haunting music that Addi and Ragnar create in Isafjørd is at once familiar in that lived-in, well-worn way a great song can touch your soul.

Having both lived in Norway and speaking Norwegian, Addi and Ragnar speak the same language of the heart, as their Nordic melancholy makes for deep and mountainous music. Isafjørd’s songs are sincere icebergs of tundra-anthems that bring to mind Fields of the Nephilim and Duran Duran jamming in a frozen valley, where the creative 80s New Wave meets GodSpeed You Black Emperor. With influences that range from Cardigans, Beatles, early Judas Priest and Neil Young, Addi and Ragnar have struck a vein of gold that crystallizes their own heritage of wide-screen Metal gloom into something new.

Now coming of age, matured into a shimmering diamond of Icelandic pop at its finest, Isafjørd is on another plain from Addi’s own Sólstafir, where their cinematic metal roots have been re-traced into sweeping glacial song-craft. A country known for their honest and heart–wrenching emotional take on pop music with Björk and Sigur Rós, Isafjørd gives a new definition of “landscape music”.

When an album feels like a place you want to inhabit and experience, 'Hjartastjaki' is a journey that you’re going to want to take.

About their first single "Falin Skemmd", Addi says, "This song is about freeing yourself from a toxic relationship and moving on to a brighter future.” Listen below.

‘CIRCLE OF THE TYRANTS’ below & PRE-ORDER HERE - https://celticfrost.lnk.to/dansemacabrePR

Over the course of little more than three years between 1984 and 1987, Celtic Frost established themselves as one of the most important bands in extreme and experimental music of that era. ‘Danse Macabre’ brings together the band’s recordings from those years, capturing their boundary-pushing ambition and creative zeal.

On paper, the story of Celtic Frost’s early years is as unlikely as it is extraordinary: a tale of how teenagers from rural Switzerland, at once audaciously ambitious and ferociously uncompromising, took heavy metal into new, exciting and unquestionably extreme territory. That they did so in the face of adversity at almost every turn makes this story even more incredible.

From its very inception mid-way through 1984, following Tom Gabriel Warrior and Martin Eric Ain’s decision to dissolve Hellhammer, Celtic Frost set out to give expression – both musically and aesthetically – to a uniquely extreme artistic vision which the pair delineated in forensic detail in a document which was presented to Noise Records, with whom Hellhammer had released ‘Apocalyptic Raids’, in order to demonstrate to the label that their new band was a viable project.

Convinced, Noise asked Celtic Frost to record a mini-LP, even though that hadn’t formed part of Warrior and Ain’s concept document. Undeterred, and propelled by a burning urgency, Celtic Frost set out to write and record a full length LP in a matter of a few months. ‘Morbid Tales’ was recorded with Horst Müller in Berlin and was unlike anything else. Intensely heavy, nuanced and experimental, the record was a radical musical statement of intent; a stunning synthesis of Warrior and Ain’s disparate influences. From the furious opening riff of ‘Into The Crypts Of Rays’ through to the avant-garde experimentation of ‘Danse Macabre’, ‘Morbid Tales’ heralded the arrival of Celtic Frost as a profoundly unique and uncompromising band.

New Yorker Reed St Mark joined Celtic Frost as a permanent member in February 1985, replacing session drummer Stephen Priestly, and the trio recorded the ‘Emperor’s Return’ EP in April ‘85, at Noise’s request. Featuring the first recording of the essential ‘Circle Of The Tyrants’, the EP is a solid snap shot of the sheer fanaticism that was the lifeblood of Tom and Martin in particular.

‘To Mega Therion’ was Celtic Frost’s next album, recorded in September ‘85. Due to personal difficulties, Martin was not in the band at that point, and so bass duties for the recording were carried out by session player Dominic Steiner. Martin’s absence also meant that Tom was responsible for the music and virtually all of the lyrics. But despite difficult circumstances, the resulting album, however, was a triumph. Replete with iconic cover art by HR Giger, ‘To Mega Therion’ imposes its dark majesty from the off with the orchestral bombast of ‘Innocence And Wrath’, before launching into the savagery of the hook-laden ‘The Usurper’. Daring, dark and superlatively heavy, ‘To Mega Therion’ is a sophisticated expression of Celtic Frost’s inherent drive to eschew genre limitations and, instead, define art on their own terms.

Martin Ain was soon brought back into the fold and a few songs from ‘To Mega Therion’ were re-recorded and remixed with Harris Johns, emerging as the excellent sounding ‘Tragic Serenades’ EP. It, and Celtic Frost’s previous releases, increasingly received critical acclaim, which emboldened the band to take more risks, to push the boundaries of heavy music even further with their next album.

Recorded in Hanover at the start of 1987, ‘Into The Pandemonium’ was not an easy album to make; the band’s experimental ambitions often at odds with their label’s concerns. But, despite these obstacles, the band defended their artistic vision and the result is an astonishing piece of avant-garde art. The album’s experimentation is still striking today, challenging how we perceive heavy music and what it means to take music risks. Only Celtic Frost could create an album which kicks off with a singular cover of a New Wave song (Wall Of Voodoo’s ‘Mexican Radio’) and immediately follow it up with the mournful tragedy of ‘Mesmerized’.

‘Into The Pandemonium’ was the last recording made by this era of Celtic Frost, bringing to an end a period of incredible creative and artistic growth over what was a remarkably brief period of time. That the teenagers who recorded ‘The Third Of The Storm’ and ‘Triumph Of Death’ for the Hellhammer EP would, despite constant turmoil, be recording the jaw-dropping ‘Rex Irae’ just three years later is astonishing.

‘Danse Macabre’ captures the radical ambition and evolution of Celtic Frost from 1984 through to 1987. In addition to the albums ‘Morbid Tales’, ‘To Mega Therion’ and ‘Into The Pandemonium’, the 7 marble colour vinyl box set also includes the ‘Emperor’s Return’, ‘Tragic Serenades’ and ‘I Won’t Dance’ EPs, along with ‘The Collectors Celtic Frost’ compilation, a 7” of ‘Visual Aggression’ and a cassette of rehearsals recorded at the band’s Grave Hill Bunker. A 12” x 12”, 40 page book, brings together photography – some previously unseen – from the era and brand new interviews with Tom Gabriel Warrior and Reed St Mark. A Heptagram USB drive contains MP3 audio of all the albums, including bonus tracks. A Danse Macabre woven patch, a double sided poster, and a Necromaniac Union fan club enamel badge complete the set. ‘Danse Macabre’ is also available as a 5 CD box set, with 40 page book, badge, poster and patch.

A very limited edition Glow In The Dark vinyl variant edition of the LP box set will be available via EMP and Nuclear Blast online. This is limited to 1000 units.

Horror Punk Icon WEDNESDAY 13 Goes Heavy as Hell on New Single "Insides Out"

Ninth Studio Album, 'Horrifier', out October 7, 2022

via Napalm Records

Pre-Order HERE

On Tour Now in North America!

The undisputed harbinger of metal horror WEDNESDAY 13 recently announced his highly-anticipated next album of terrifyingly grim and groovy anthems, entitled 'Horrifier', out October 7, 2022 via Napalm Records. Following up on 2019’s acclaimed 'Necrophaze(#2 US Heatseekers), with 'Horrifier', the former frontman of renowned horror punk supergroup Murderdolls revitalizes his sound with intensely fun punk energy and metallic attitude!

Today, following up on the album's addictive first single, "You're so Hideous", WEDNESDAY 13 has revealed what is likely one of, if not the heaviest track of his career, entitled "Insides Out". The gory track - accompanied today by an equally gruesome video - boasts a colossal main riff before roaring with a searing chorus featuring slithering vocals and hair-raising guitar effects.

WEDNESDAY 13 says about "Insides Out":

“Our latest single "Insides Out'"is a very heavy song, so it only made sense to make a video to match the sound! Torture and violence is the main theme of this song, and we continue along the lines of the last music video with another horror movie theme here too."

Watch the official video for "Insides Out"

Showcasing a blend of styles plucked from the band’s 20-year career, 'Horrifier' weaves an underlying sonic thread reminiscent of WEDNESDAY 13’s roots – a raucous blend of ballistic metal and macabre heavy rock that’ll have new and diehard fans alike ascending from the depths. As always, various tracks on the album are inspired by classic horror flicks, this time circling cult-favorite slasher John Carpenter’s Halloween and the iconic Christine supernatural thrillers.

WEDNESDAY 13’s ninth full-length album kicks off with eerie introductory track Severedbefore careening into one of the band’s heaviest songs ever recorded, the massive, slow and low Insides Out”. The aggressive, industrial-edged Exhume and Devour and warning sing-a-long single You’re so Hideous pick up the pace with danceable 90s sonic vigor, while surefire hit Good Day to Be a Bad Guy aces the pure horror punk spirit of Murderdolls as a downright blissful tongue-in-cheek earworm that’ll seep into the listener’s head on repeat. John Carpenter’s Halloween inspired anthem Return to Haddonfield convinces with marching gang vocals and a searing metallic guitar solo before the pace picks up again on fast-riffing, mosh-ready title track Horrifier. Southern-fried metal tinged Hell Is Coming is one of the album’s best displays of stylistic versatility, accented by an impressively commanding vocal performance while pumping out a thrash-worthy breakdown and blues rock solo. Halfway to the Grave sees the band echoing 80s flavor accented by memorable leads and imploring lyrics before leading into the charging Christine themed album standout Christine: Fury in the Night, featuring pounding drums, an unforgettable hook and a transfixing guitar lead that quite literally drives. 'Horrifier' closes with its most heartfelt track, The Other Side – a personal ode WEDNESDAY 13 penned about the sudden loss of his mother, as well as former Murderdolls bandmate Joey Jordison – but that also shines as a vital anthem made further pertinent after recent years of intense worldwide loss and reflection.

'Horrifier' was produced and recorded by WEDNESDAY 13 with mixing and mastering by Brent Clawson and features stunning album artwork by Jonny Bush.

WEDNESDAY 13 offers about 'Horrifier':

"The last three releases have seen the band explore new ground with heavier songs, drums, and vocals. Coming out of the Covid crisis, I promised I would not release a sad, depressing record. I wanted to make a fun, horror themed rock record that would be reminiscent of the first few WEDNESDAY 13 records. The new album is a fun, fast-paced, thriller!"

Lands’ End Creates Collection with Country Music Icon Blake Shelton

Lands’ End, a classic American lifestyle brand, and Blake Shelton, a country music superstar and television personality, today announce a fall and holiday collection – Blake Shelton x Lands' End. The collaboration will offer apparel for every member of the family – pets included! – as well as items for the home, grounding itself in familiarity, utility and comfort with nods to passions close to Shelton’s heart.

A six-string guitar plaid and a color palette inspired by what home means to Blake – from the blue sky above his Ten Point Ranch to the rich ambers of a great brew – makes this collection especially authentic, perfectly resonating with Lands’ End’s emphasis on comfort.

“We knew that Blake values comfortable and ready-to-wear clothing – all elements that stand at the core of our design process at Lands’ End,” said Jerome Griffith, chief executive officer at Lands’ End. “As we eyed our next collaboration partner, Blake was a natural fit for not only our brand, but our shopper. Reliable styles that can comfortably be dressed up or down and fit every body is where Lands' End – and this collection – strikes a chord.”

The Lands’ End x Blake Shelton collection will feature men’s, women’s and kids’ apparel, spanning stylish layers, show stopping denim and graphic tees, as well as pet essentials like beds and bandanas and cozy home finds, including faux fur throws, percale sheets and more.

“When you know what works, you stick with it,” said Blake Shelton. “Flannel shirt, jeans, a great jacket…when clothes are done right, it’s just easy. This is what I wear. It's really fashion for folks who want to look good and feel comfortable, no matter where they are or what they're doing. My collection with Lands’ End is about making clothes you’ll know are keepers the second you put them on. When you know, you know.”

From September 1, 2022 through September 1, 2023, Lands’ End will donate a portion of each purchase from the Blake Shelton x Lands’ End collection to Habitat for Humanity, a global housing organization that partners with people in communities in the U.S. and around the world to build or improve a place they can call home.

Blake Shelton continues to add to his impressive resume of music with the release of his latest single “No Body.” The song comes on the heels of his most recent album Body Language Deluxe which features his Platinum-selling 28th country radio chart-topper, “Happy Anywhere” (featuring Gwen Stefani). Prior to “Happy Anywhere,” Shelton and Stefani celebrated a 2x Platinum, multi-week No. 1 with “Nobody But You,” which is now approaching 500 million global streams. The single made its TV debut on the 62nd GRAMMY Awards, where Shelton was also nominated for Best Country Solo Performance for his hit “God’s Country.” The 4x Platinum smash earned the 2019 CMA Award and 2020 ACM Award for Single of the Year. As his award wins approach the hundreds, Shelton remains a force in the industry with ACM (5), AMA (3), CMA (10), CMT (11) and People’s Choice Awards (7), among many others.

As a coach for the Emmy Award-winning television show The Voice, Shelton is an eight-time champion, most recently with his contestant Cam Anthony. He and Carson Daly recently revealed that they would be teaming up to executive produce and star in a new celebrity game show, Barmageddon, to air on USA Network. The Grand Ole Opry member also remains focused on his Ole Red partnership with Ryman Hospitality, with locations currently in Tishomingo, Nashville, Gatlinburg and Orlando. A noted humanitarian, Shelton has helped raise millions of dollars for children’s hospitals, disaster relief organizations, food banks and more in his home state of Oklahoma and throughout the entire country.

Kid Kapichi Share "I.N.V.U." Video — WATCH!

NEW ALBUM 'HERE'S WHAT YOU COULD HAVE WON'ARRIVES SEPTEMBER 23

The UK's "power-punk" four-piece Kid Kapichi have revealed a brand new single "I.N.V.U." Watch the video below.

Frontman Jack Wilson explains, "Like 'Glitterati' on our last album, just a bit of fun, about that social media thing of looking like you have an over-the-top lifestyle. What do you want from me? Do you want me to envy you?"

The band's album release show, taking place on September 23, just down the road from Hastings at the iconic De La Warr Pavilion, is nearly sold-out. Get your tickets here to avoid disappointment.

Lastly on the live front, Kid Kapichi will head out on the road with The Hunna this October through November.

The new studio album, Here's What You Could Have Won, will be released on September 23 via Spinefarm. These 11 new songs are an excellent showcase for the band's bigger, punchier, "beat-punk" sound, co-produced with Dom Craik from Nothing But Thieves. Featuring the comeback single "New England" — their most explicitly political song yet — with a searing guest verse from Bob Vylan, and Partygate polemic "Party At No. 10" (which was praised on Twitter by Liam Gallagher, who asked the band to support him at London's Royal Albert Hall), the album is a brutal dissection of the xenophobic Little England mentality. Pre-order the album here.

A behemoth of a band on and off stage, thanks to the Hastings scene that nurtured them, their best songs explore racism, in-work poverty, mental health, violence, frustration, and all-consuming love with honesty and humor. All their songs come studded with barbed wire hooks, bristling with the juddering shock of lived experience, and the cathartic thrill of a balled-up fist relaxing into an air punch.

Wilson says, "The title, Here's What You Could Have Won, sums up the feeling of missed opportunity. Being dragged right at a junction when you know you should be going left or screaming at the TV whilst someone picks the wrong answer on a game show. It looks inwardly at the UK and the decisions that have been made and how they have affected us all."

Lead guitarist Ben Beetham adds, "It's not a concept album but it does have a running theme. We like to write songs about current affairs and what direction the world seems to be turning. As a result, we write as close to the deadline as possible to keep it relevant."

NYC cabaret punk duo Frenchy and the Punk present 'Mon Souvenir', previewing new album

"Bombastic, Frenchy and the Punk find a happy medium between the sonic atmosphere and thoughtful melancholy of post-punk music and the unmistakable drama of cabaret... as beautifully manic as some of the finest artists on America's 'early punk' scene" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

New York cabaret-inspired art rock duo Frenchy and the Punk have announced that they will soon release their seventh album 'Zen Ghost' via EA Recordings. Slated for release in late October, they present the first taste of this album with lead track 'Mon Souvenir', an unapologetically new wave-y nugget propelled by chugging acoustic chords. With its refrain of “If I can feel / I can heal”, the song reflects the album’s central theme of transcending ‘mind phantoms’ - the experiences from the past that linger within all of us.

Frenchy and the Punk is made up of singer, percussionist, and lyricist Samantha Stephenson and guitarist and composer Scott Helland. Influenced by such icons as The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Blondie, Concrete Blonde, Adam and the Ants,The B52’s and Serge Gainsbourg, the duo have become known for their trademark blend of dark folk, post-punk and cabaret-influenced music.

"Mon Souvenir - the idea of mind phantoms - is the pervading theme of the album. Meaning 'My Memory' in French, this song' deals with the idea of those experiences that haunt us even when we think they are gone. We can build layers of protection through the years that end up masking our true emotions, making it difficult to heal. It may take a lifelong journey to shed those layers, get to the core and finally transcend those experiences," says Samantha Stephenson.

Dark times make for dark songs. 'Zen Ghost' was written and recorded during the downtime of 2020-2021. Here, the duo's shadowy sound takes an even darker turn. An inward spin, into the pair’s previously unexplored personal planes and interpretations of the insanity of our increasingly tumultuous age. But despite its more pronounced moodiness, like the rest of the band’s oeuvre, 'Zen Ghost' offers plenty of opportunities to dance in the darkness.

French-born, but raised in England and America, Stephenson’s early study of piano and dance ignited her eventual rejection of corporate conformity and fueled her quest to lead a truly autonomous life through art and music. A son of jazz-loving teachers, Helland grew up in Western Massachusetts, where he was a vital player on the region’s famously fertile early hardcore punk scene. He was also co-founder and bassist of Deep Wound (along with future Dinosaur Jr. founders J Mascis and Lou Barlow), as well as Outpatients.

Helland and Stephenson met in NYC 1998, when Stephenson spontaneously jumped on stage to accompany Helland during his solo guitar performance. The artistic union was immediate, powerful and undeniable. The two began to tour with fevered zeal, turning heads with their striking aesthetic, steadily building fervent fans on the mystical-folk/steampunk festival, coffeehouse, convention, and club circuits with their boisterous, revival-like live shows.

Tapped as one of the Top 25 duos in the US by Yahoo! Music, the freewheeling pair has released a raft of recordings, including the acclaimed albums 'Happy Madness' (2010), 'Hey Hey Cabaret' (2012), 'Elephant Uproar' (2013), 'Cartwheels' (2014), 'Bonjour Batfrog' (2014), and 'Hooray Beret' (2019).

The live element is very important for Frenchy and the Punk, having opened for Thomas Dolby, Dinosaur Jr., The World Inferno Friendship Society, Rasputina, Cruxshadows, Hurray For The Riff Raff and The Young Dubliners. They have also performed together live with Dead Can Dance's Peter Ulrich and Dresden Dolls' Brian Viglione.

As of September 8, 'Mon Souvenir' will be released digitally everywhere, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. The 'Zen Ghost' album will be released on October 28 and is available for pre-order digitally via Bandcamp and on CD via the band's website.

Rising Singer-Songwriter Chase Wright Named a 'Highway Find' on SiriusXM's The Highway

2021 brought a year of milestones for rising singer-songwriter Chase Wright, including the release of his 10-song debut album Intertwined and kicking off his first-ever headlining tour with Tin Roof. His rising-star also caught the eye of SiriusXM’s The Highway. Today, the Indiana-native added another highlight to his growing resume with SiriusXM naming him a “Highway Find.” Host Storme Warren surprised Wright with the news during an appearance on the show.

“I listen to The Highway every day so I know how big of a deal this is. To be named a ‘Highway Find’ is an absolute dream come true,” shared Wright. “I can honestly say hearing that I’m the next ‘Highway Find’ has genuinely left me speechless…thank you to Storme, Macie, Nick and the whole SiriusXM team.”

SiriusXM’s The Highway channel has an ongoing commitment to spotlight great new country music talent. Being named a “Highway Find” is as highly-anticipated by country artists as fans alike, and the coveted recognition puts Wright in company with some of today’s biggest country stars including Luke Combs, Maren Morris, Dan + Shay and Florida Georgia Line to name a few.

After being discovered posting covers on Instagram, then ASCAP executive Robert Filhart invited Wright to Music City for an ASCAP songwriters’ workshop where he met many of his future collaborators. He began making monthly trips to town to write and eventually would sign his first publishing deal with Toby and Molly Music before graduating from college. The finance major would go on to sign with Filhart and Clint Higham at Morris Higham for management. From Instagram to life on the road, Wright spent 2021 on a 12-city headlining trek for Tin Roof’s “Nashville Hit the Roof” Series. He will kick off a headlining run of shows this fall beginning Sept. 30 in Bristol, Tenn.

The artist Billboard noted “continues to impress with original material” released debut album Intertwined last year. Produced by Jared Keim and Zach Abend, tracks like “Lying With You,” which has been getting airplay on SiriusXM The Highway’s On The Horizon show, “Hangin’ On” and “What She Sees In Me” join fan-favorites on the album, including “Why Should We,” Wright’s debut single “My Kinda Morning” which MusicRow celebrated for its “melodies wrapped in spacious production, and rap-inspired cadences,” “Wish You’d Miss Me” that Country Now called “the quintessential heartbreak ballad” and “Drive” which led Sounds Like Nashville to implore listeners to “get in early with…this promising young artist.”

Post-breakup tracks like “Missing You” and “Why Can’t It Be Over” round out the album alongside title-track “Intertwined” featuring Canadian popstar Delaney Jane.

About Chase Wright:
Chase Wright is doing more than make his childhood dreams come true: he’s introducing himself as a bold new Nashville artist with a freewheeling approach to genre, firm footing in relatable storytelling and soft spot for big choruses. Respect for country music’s way around a story without feeling beholden to it defines the Indiana native’s energetic songs, which rely on electric loops and pop-rock chords alongside more traditional sounds made from steel strings and wood. It’s a confident blend that belies the fact that 26-year-old Chase first picked up a guitar as a freshman track star at DePauw University. After graduating with a degree in economics, Chase packed his bags for Nashville, where he has since earned a publishing deal with Toby & Molly Music and signed with Morris Higham for management. Named a Spotify Hot Country Artist to Watch for 2022, fans have been streaming his music to the tune of 110 million times. Wright’s debut album Intertwined is available now.

British alternative pop artist SICKY takes us to the edge on 'The Bridge' single, previewing new album

"This music is down-the-middle catchy and clever. It is, at the same time, gleeful, tuneful, and a hell of a lot of fun... recalls such artists as Gene, Manic Street Preachers, Muse and Super Furry Animals" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

UK-based alternative 'dirty pop' artist SICKY presents his new single 'The Bridge', a lively danceable offering that is a pragmatic Northern Soul-inspired bucket of joy.

A Black Country boy now residing in Shropshire, SICKY is the solo project of Mick Butler, who has played in various bands, ranging from the brass soaked pop of Papa Mantra to the dirty stomp of SUMO. Now he derives pleasure from banging out tunes and crafting new material. Literally everything you hear in his music is him squeezing noises out of anything that'll sing.

'The Bridge' is the lead track from his new 'Garbage Town' album, which is being released a year on from his lockdown album 'Bowling Balls', a collection that was partially inspired by Ray Bradbury's book 'The Martian Chronicles'.

"The Bridge is a song of few words, but underneath, they have huge meaning. Inspired by someone close to me, who had the sheer guts and determination to take on a darkness and set things straight. On the musical side of things, it was inspired by frequenting a Northern Soul night that happens once a month in my local town (called 'Motown in Lowtown' - I kid you not)," says SICKY.

"Those classic tunes tend to stay with you on the drunken walk home and beyond.... As a kid I used to wade through my older brothers box of northern delights (he would have killed me had he known) Those records became ingrained and still sound cool today."

This music is inspired by Prince and Bowie, perhaps in equal measure, as well as Nirvana, Supergrass, Blur, Queens Of The Stone Age, Fun Lovin' Criminals and Elvis.

SICKY explains: "Garbage Town is not a place - it's a state of mind. The lyrics talk of breaking free and leaving all the bad stuff in your head behind. Feels like all roads have led to this album. I play and record/produce everything myself so I'm a bit like a decathlete... Quite good at a couple of things and pretty average at the rest. Hopefully it sounds like in your face dirty pop."

'The Bridge' is out now and is available across all good digital platforms, including via Spotify and Apple Music. The full 'Garbage Town' album will be released on November 18 and can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp.

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX Streams Entire New Album "Banefyre"

Progressive rock collective CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX will be releasing a brand new album, 'Banefyre,' THIS Friday, September 9 via Season of Mist! The band is now streaming the effort in its entirety ahead of its release! Listen below.

The band comments on the stream: "Finally after two years of weirdness, we get to unleash our own kind of weirdness on the world. There’s some very dark Magik going on here with 'Banefyre.' Things are going to start changing, in ways that people will never know. Strap in and treat this like a film. Start at the beginning and get lost in it until the end. Maximum volume yields maximum results."

Pre-orders for 'Banefyre' are now live HERE while the album can be pre-saved across digital streaming services HERE.

The thread that binds CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX’s bold and towering discography — a dozen studio albums, a half-dozen mini-albums, a handful of compilations and swaths of bootlegs — could not be more apropos circa 2022. Since its 2004 creation by multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Justin Greaves, CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX has served as the voice for the voiceless, whether it be animals, the unequal and the different. Greaves and longstanding vocalist and lyricist Belinda Kordic have often proffered that these beings cannot fend for themselves. Henceforth, CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX’s mission has been to shed light on the human condition and the inequalities that befall humankind and its creatures. Their battle marches on with their latest studio album, Banefyre.

Banefyre follows 2020’s Ellengæst — an effort that found CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX employ a series of notable guest vocalists alongside Kordic, prompting Metal Hammer to describe it as their “most cohesive and emotionally devastating record.” Kordic is now paired with Swedish vocalist Joel Segerstedt, who made his CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX debut last year via the “Painful Reminder/Dead is Dead” single. Piano, synth and trumpet player Helen Stanley and additional guitarist Andy Taylor complete the lineup. Greaves says Stanley and Taylor “fit so well creatively,” which has made CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX feel like a band when making plans and decisions.

Also central to this is Segerstedt. According to Kordic, the vocalist and lyricist lives a mere five minutes from her in Sweden and has quickly integrated himself into the band. “What I like about Joel is that he’s a good person,” she says. “There’s no fakeness with him; he has cajones. He’s not a bitch-talker, either. I can’t handle people who don’t have a backbone, but Joel is real and can speak his mind.”

“I like how Joel has come in and spoke for himself,” adds Greaves. “He’s in the band for the right reasons. I see him the same way as Belinda — she took an interest in the whole artistic thing behind CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX, like the vocals, lyrics, artwork and aesthetic. It’s the same with Joel. He has taken an interest in all of those things. In the past, we had people who didn’t contribute artistically and only cared about what they got out of the band. But Joel is really proactive and takes the initiative.”

Greaves assembled 13 songs (including “No Regrets,” a bonus track for his new project with Kordic, Johnny the Boy) imbued with the depth and introspection that will reinforce CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX’s standing as a band that defies genre. The album was tracked at Chapel Studios in South Thoresby, Lincolnshire, with vocals cut at Monolith Studio and Kapsylen Studio in Stockholm, Sweden. Kurt Ballou handled mixing in GodCity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts — a pivotal move in determining the album’s overall sound.

“I love the album so much because it was a different approach with the production,” says Greaves. “For my part, it was a little bit of a reaction. I didn’t want to do the same warm, safe CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX album. I’m aware that when we did [2012’s] I, Vigilante, everyone wanted I, Vigilante again. As it so often happens with this band, people complain about the next one, then grow into it. Ellengæst is like I, Vigilante. It’s a shorter album. It hit the mark and was done really well, but everyone will expect another Ellengæst. I feared that, but I care enough not to make another Ellengæst. It’s the right thing to do. That’s why we got Kurt to mix it — we wanted that analog, raw power. Even though the album has mellow moments, those are edgy as well. We just didn’t want to do the same album twice. We’re never going to be a band that people can rely on.”

Greaves’ summation of his band notwithstanding, his distinctive guitar playing and enduring knack for immersive songwriting is the propellent behind the haunting, chant-laden “Ghostland,” pensive “The Reckoning” and forlorn “Everything is Beautiful but Us,” the band’s spot-on analysis of the retreat of humankind indoors during the pandemic that revealed nature’s priceless beauty. The album is also stocked with no less than four ten-minute-plus cuts (“Rose of Jericho,” “Down the Rabbit Hole,” “I’m Okay, Just Not Alright” and “The Scene is a False Prophet”) that are intermixed with drama and melancholy.

It all ties into Banefyre’s central theme of the persecution of people who are deemed “different” by society. The album title is a play on the song “Bonefire” that Kordic named and wrote lyrics for. In classic CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX fashion, Greaves turned it into the Olde English translation to represent the bonfires that engulfed witches and politicians through the 15th and 18th centuries, hence, the name Banefyre.

The album begins with “Incantation for the Different,” which was written and orated by Chicago-based witch, artist, author and occultist Shane Bugbee, who, according to Greaves, “brought us some positive, dark energy.” Banefyre then delves into the Salem Witch Trials (“Wyches and Basterdz”), fox hunting in Great Britain (“The Reckoning”), politicians of an unscrupulous and dishonest kind (“Bonefire”) and the New York City Blackout of 1977 (“Blackout77”).

Greaves says Banefyre’s topics may have a decidedly negative and pessimistic tone, but a glimmer of hope and joy remains. “There’s always the random bits, but overall, Banefyre is about the people who have suffered because they are different. The album covers inequality and oppression, like ‘Incantation for the Different,’ which is about overcoming when you’re put down because you’re not like everyone else.”

In true CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX fashion, the Lucy Marshall-created Banefyre cover leaves plenty to the imagination, depicting four animals seated at a table — interacting and dressed like human beings. “It’s sort of like Planet of the Apes showing what animals could do to humans,” says Greaves. “The cover was specially commissioned and is unique to the album. It’s incorporating all the classic CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX elements with the love for animals and twisting the narrative around.”

CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX’s reputation was built on the back of their studio albums and live shows. The pandemic prevented the band from supporting Ellengæst, but it did provide them additional time to bring in new members to their live configuration.

“We’ve done one show since 2019,” says Greaves. “We are going to do something in Europe this year. Hopefully, we can get back on track. We’re also going to do something in the States — that’s not just talk, we’re actually going to do it. It’s well overdue. The live band is fucking amazing. We have the five of us and now we have Jordi [Farré] on drums, Paco [Fleischfresser] on synth and a really good friend of mine, Matt Crawford on bass.

“We did the Leipzig show and even though the rehearsals were better than the show itself, that lineup, our live band, is so good. Because we haven’t been under pressure to put a live band together since 2019 and spent so long talking to people, we’ve got a better band from those results. Out of disaster, we’ve got quite a good, positive thing.”

Beauty Is Betrayal Release New Single "Rebel" via Daeth Records / TLG / INgrooves

"'Rebel' is a journey through the gut bustin’ rollercoaster ride of emotions when a relationship ends. The mourning of once was, while battling the bitterness of being left. Rebel is a mix of beauty immeshed in chilling melodies & lyrics. Highlighting the duality struggle of wanting to be alone, and not wanting to be alone," says the band.

Beauty Is Betrayal is born and raged in Sacramento, CA. Formed back in 2015 by front woman Bri Cowgill, alongside Burn Halo’s very own guitar player, Ryan Frost. The powerful duo bonded over dark humor, the love of weird things, and of course, inner anger. Beauty is armed with talented hard working members including, Burn Halo's former drummer Johnny Badbones, guitarist Alex Lovato and bassist Jaden Daniels. Beauty’s sound includes hauntingly evil guitar riffs, fast heavy drums, and a unique blend of Cowgill’s & Frost’s powerful vocals takes you on a twisted journey. The band has gone on to main support national bands including: Escape The Fate, Motionless In White, After The Burial, New Years Day, Oh, Sleeper, Burn Halo, HED P.E., and many more. Beauty is fearless and dramatic when it comes to their live performance. They demand attention with not only their music, but their theatrics showcasing bloody suites & masks, intense high energy, and comedic crowd interactions. “Music is designed to bring people together. When you see a live show, everyone is in that room for the same reason: we can each be and feel all the things we want without consequence. In that moment we are free & unified, THAT is the biggest take away,” Cowgill expressed. Recently, Beauty has just released music videos for both their successful cover of "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry, and their latest original track, "Rebel"
