Austin cinematic rock duo THE CAUGHTERY release 'The Uninvited', previewing TIM PALMER-produced debut EP

"Power and passion.... Stunning and impressive – A sublime unforgettable creation"~ The Spill Magazine

"Impeccably arranged and produced... a perfectly-balanced and finely-sculpted nest of sonic intensity" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Towering classic rock pyrotechnics... a sky-scraping juggernaut propelled by muscled Eddie Van Halen-like guitar riffage, a mighty jackhammer inflamed with Lisa Tingle‘s passionate and soulful vocals" ~ Turn Up The Volume

Following up their debut single 'Fragile', cinematic rock duo The Caughterypresent 'The Uninvited', a stellar offering showcasing the talents of long-time Austin music veterans Lisa Tingle and David Gayler. This is the second offering from their forthcoming debut eponymous EP, set for release on July 15.

Mixed by the legendary Tim Palmer (Robert Plant, Ozzy Osbourne, Tin Machine, The Mission, HIM, U2, Pearl Jam), who jointly produced it together with David Gayler, this EP was recorded by Lee Jackson at Studio71West near Austin. Tim Palmer also contributes guitar on this debut single.

“These lyrics came spilling out from a state of depression and anxiety, something I think we all can especially relate to these days. It stems from the daily frustration and energy exerted while trying to keep out the dark thoughts, the sadness and despair.., a.k.a. the uninvited," says Lisa Tingle.

"David is always giving me the friendly reminder to write about what I know, and I believe that is excellent advice. Most of the highly sensitive people I know experience a multitude of “battles” with mental health issues, The world is a crazy place. I hope this song speaks to the hearts of many, and reminds listeners that they are not alone. 'The Uninvited' is the personal demon we are all fighting.”

This debut EP is a powerful contemporary rock offering, influenced by musical threads running from the 60s through 00s, presents a series of “musical paintings”, expressing the pressure and fragility of the human state over the last two years.

This debut effort features drummer Tom Brechtlein, who brings a rich experience with him, having performed with Chick Corea, Kenny Loggins, Eric Johnson, Robben Ford, Al DiMeola, Jean-Luc Ponty and Rickie Lee Jones, among others. It also involves bass contributions by Brian Lippman and Ricky Phillips (of Styx and previously with Coverdale/Page, Bad English, The Babys, Ted Nugent, Angel).

David Gayler explains: “The song started out on an acoustic guitar as that is a comfortable place for me. Once I had the song structure setup it was sent to Tom Brechtlein and Ricky Phillips for their rough ideas. That went quickly. Tom came to Studio71West to track the drums and we tweaked some ideas together. Once the drum tracking was complete and Ricky Phillips was off the road with Styx, he came over to the studio and tracked the bass. The music was pretty well formed when Lisa received the song and she applied her lyrics and melody to it. It was dope the first time I heard her sing it, so we cut her vocals and background vocals fast. The song came together pretty quickly".

Two musical soul-searchers originally hailing from opposite coasts, Tingle and Gayler both grew up in musical families. Lisa and David's shared diverse musical loves (rock, indie, fusion, jazz, blues and R&B) sparked a genuine connection, their mutual addiction for creating unique music ultimately moving their storytelling note by note.

The duo originated in 2020, when David called Lisa to record a song that fit her vibe. What started out as a one-off collaboration ultimately turned into a full EP of material under the name The Caughtery. On this debut EP, Lisa’s lyrics explore such themes as relationships, new and old, the passing of friends and the state of our world today.

Described as a “Female Robert Plant” with the power of Janis Joplin and the soul of Aretha Franklin, Lisa Tingle has received multiple honors at the Austin Music Awards (Female Vocalist of the Year, Band of the Year, Best Song, Musician of the Year, Album of the Year0. She's also toured and performed with many legends, including Etta James, Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Double Trouble, Eric Johnson, Stephen Bruton, Monte Montgomery and Marcia Ball.

Having launched her music career in LA, gigging and working in publishing to record songs submitted to the likes of Tina Turner and Dolly Parton, she formed the band Black Pearl upon moving to Texas and signed with Capitol Records. She again worked in publishing, singing for TV and radio, films and songwriters, and landing placements on such shows as 'Beverly Hills 90210' and 'Melrose Place'. She contributed to several soundtracks with Ray Benson, including Jean-Claude Van Damme’s 'Universal Soldier', followed by work on Sandra Bullock’s 'Miss Congeniality' and Robert Rodriguez’s 'Spy Kids 3'. She has released six solo albums to wide acclaim and ample international airplay, including on BBC Radio.

David Gayler is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter and studio owner based in Spicewood, Texas. Having moved here from New York in the mid-80s, Gayler has been in various bands over the years, opening for such notable artists as The Romantics, Charlie Sexton and Jerry Jeff Walker, and was also a member of the Party Band during MTVs journey down to Texas in the late 1980s

As of June 17, 'The Uninvited' single is available everywhere digitally, including such platforms as Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon. The full self-titled EP will be released on July 15.

HIEROPHANT Announces New Album, Premieres First Single

Italian death metal band HIEROPHANT will be releasing a brand new full-length, 'Death Siege,' on August 26, 2022 via Season of Mist! The album artwork, tracklist, and additional details can be found below! To celebrate the forthcoming release, the band is now premiering the title track along with a music video. The clip can be found below.

HIEROPHANT comments: "With 'Death Siege,' we crossed the gateway to the abyss. Nihilism will overcome, when the sky will burn in fire. Death, Chaos, Annihilation."

Pre-orders are now available from the Season of Mist shop HERE.

The album can be pre-saved on your preferred streaming platform HERE.

Style: Death Metal
Release date: August 26, 2022

“Controlled chaos?” Lorenzo pauses for a song before finally looking right through you with his piercing eyes and slowly answering: “yes, I like the sound of that, it sums up pretty much what they stand for. Chaos with a sense if you will.”

The guitarist and vocalist of the Ravena-based band HIEROPHANT isn’t one to bury you under bigmouth statements and empty words. But when he says he thinks Death Siege is “the best thing we ever did and the one album when HIEROPHANT really comes on its own”, you know he means it.

Since their previous album, and first for SEASON OF MIST, Mass Grave in 2016 - originally described as a “vicious” mix of black sludge and death metal - many things have happened. It started with the release two years later of a two-track EP called Spawned Abortions “a good indication of where we were going but still not quite there”.

The band’s fourth full-length Death Siege was written during the first months of the pandemic, from March 2020 until May 2021, a dark period described by Lorenzo as a “long fucking long process but it was worth it. Until then, we were maybe missing a bit proper song structures and arrangements. In retrospect, Mass Grave is more grind-ish whereas the new is far more metal and riff-oriented. The songs are longer and have more things happening in them, the album is overall far more ambitious and more, well, musical

He concedes that HIEROPHANT started out more or less as “some kind of hardcore band, but with metal influences”, especially since Lorenzo has been also playing bass for THE SECRET since 2011, even if they haven’t been “very active” for a couple of years. “With HIEROPHANT, we actually signed our first contract originally with a hardcore/punk focused label called BRIDGE NINE. Originally, we had another line-up with a fulltime singer and we sounded like a very pissed off D-beat/crust band. But already in the back of my head, I had other plans. And when our frontman left in 2015, I took over the microphone as well and that’s when we started to evolve. To me, Mass Grave was a transitional record, it caught us midway if you will. But now with Death Siegewe’ve finally reached our destination. And while we made a name of ourselves in the scene, I believe it’s truly the album that will take us a step further.”

Death Siege is full of war metaphors, lyrics about complete annihilation (‘Seeds Of Vengeance’, ‘Devils Incarnate’, Bloodbath Compendium’ etc.) and “fire, hatred and endless void. The sub-title for it could have been ‘impending doom’, it’s like you know something awful it’s going to happen and sweep the plate clean but no matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to stop it. That’s how I want the listeners to feel when they listen to this record.” He pauses before adding with his iron will look, “one could say that the album general state-of-mind is ‘no mercy, kill everybody’. Yep, that sums it up about right.” Are you ready?

NYC post-punk outfit LONDON PLANE release sophomore album 'Bright Black' via Declared Goods on June 17

"Bursting with the earnest romance of Gothic poetry tinged with the ennui of 21st-century dystopia" ~ POST-PUNK.COM

"Exciting post-punk replete with scything, mountainous guitars and a thunderous, pounding, insistent rhythm that sets the pulse racing" ~ BACKSEAT MAFIA

"Fresh punchy punk urgency, synth touches, and new wave rock. London Plane would have been equally at home playing CBGB’s and the Batcave – a band that is clearly inspired by the formative cauldron of revolution that erupted from the golden days of NYC’s 70’s punk, along with the dark elements of Joy Division wariness and Bauhaus’ temperament" ~ SPILL MAGAZINE

"Rumbling, viscerally noirish, and garnished with glimmering switchblade guitars and driving percussion, it clambers through the darkest of tunnels and into the light" ~ GOD IS IN THE TV

"Gutsy slab of avante pop... deliciously dark" ~ POP MATTERS

"Punchy and elegant pop songs"LOUDER THAN WAR

"London Plane are on my list as leading the pack of rock bands who comment on the human condition" ~ PUNK ROCK BEAT

London Plane is a six-piece juggernaut, made up of David Mosey (guitar and vocals), Jessica Cole (vocals), Bryan Garbe (drums), Grant Parker (bass), Julian Tulip (synths) and Kristofer Widholm (guitar). Their roots trace back to 2014 backstage at a tribute show to the recently deceased Lou Reed, when Psychedelic Furs' Joe McGinty introduced David to Jessica, who were both performing.

Their new collection of tracks is electrifying, possessed, pulsing and relentless. Its content was greatly informed by several internal tragedies faced by band members during its production, including the deaths of family members, coupled with the tumultuous political situation that saw the ascension of villains. Where the vocals let in some hope, the bass snarls like something Lemmy would be proud of, the drums rumble and hiss, and the serrated guitar preens as cold as a weapon of mass destruction.

Rejecting a culture of me-first indulgence, 'Bright Black' is as hook-filled avant-rock study in context and contradictions -- snarling while disco, ruminative while dancey, cerebral while demented, fogs of sweetness becoming venom, melancholy becoming hope, with bass-bruising grooves over lush textures. Recalling the threat of imminent cultural, sociopolitical and ecological devastation, these songs are intentional, forceful and direct, crafted as London Plane confronts the ascension of villains (you know who) and the fading of heroes (i.e. Bowie, Ennio Morricone, Stephen Hawking, Ruth Bader Ginsburg).

Following the success of their 2018 debut album 'New York Howl', London Plane methodically worked on new material in late 2019-early 2020. The identity and frame of the songs formed during short, intense sessions of listening to their ideological and sonic forebears, such as Kate Bush, Iggy, Bauhaus and Stravinsky. Capturing the spirit the moment it showed up, these songs are willful, barbed, sardonic and hopeful, at once nodding to the spaghetti western and British post-punk goth anthems.

London Plane recently released the singles 'Bright Black' and 'Come Out of the Dark', both offering a glimpse of brightness amidst the invasion of darkness after having earlier released 'Francesco (Italiano)', the original 'Francesco' single and 'Watch That Madman Go', a highly relevant rebuke of propaganda and the grand tradition of political dictatorship.

The 'Bright Black' album will be released on June 17, available everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, where it can already be pre-ordered.

Kimberly Kelly Debuts Music Video for 'Summers Like That'

Kelly’s Residency at The Basement Continues Every Tuesday in June
Performances at 7 pm CT on June 21 and 28

On the heels of the announcement of her label debut, I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen, arriving July 8 via Show Dog Nashville in partnership with Thirty Tigers, singer/songwriter Kimberly Kelly debuts the music video for album track “Summers Like That” exclusively, today on CMT. Watch HERE. Fans can also catch Kelly every Tuesday in June for her residency at Nashville’s legendary venue, The Basement. Performances begin at 7 pm on June 21 and 28. For more information visit, thebasementnashville.com.

Directed by Tyler Barksdale, the video brings the nostalgic song to life…capturing what young love looks like. “Tyler did an amazing job using subtle imagery that mirrors the song’s lyrics and the story in addition to what the actors are doing,” Kelly shared exclusively with CMT. “The carnival scene wasn’t planned either— it just happened to be set up nearby the weekend we shot. The carnival alone added a whole other level of charm to the story and song.”

Summers Like That,” which left Billboard praising Kelly’s “warm, lifting voice,” was written by Karyn Rochelle and Bobby Tomberlin and produced by Brett Tyler. The song not only name checks a number of classic 90s country hits but is also sonically, reminiscent of some of Kelly’s biggest influences, artist like Trisha Yearwood, Pam Tillis, Brooks & Dunn and Deana Carter. Listen to “Summers Like That” HERE.

A native of Lorena, Texas, Kelly spent years in both the Texas and Nashville music scenes earning an education in experiences that have made her both fearless in her approach to creating and unafraid to defy convention when it comes to industry expectations. Those years of hard work, all while also earning a Master’s degree and working fulltime, culminated last summer in a long-awaited record deal with Show Dog Nashville. Now she is set to make her label debut. Pre-order or pre-save I'll Tell You What's Gonna Happen HERE.

The album is already earning kudos including praise from legendary singer/songwriter and fellow Texan, Radney Foster, who shared, “If you like your Country music with fiddles and steel guitars, melodies that soar and a singer who unapologetically sings with a twang, you will love Kimberly Kelly. She’s a great songwriter and her timeless voice delivers power and emotion on this fun but often poignant collection. Don’t try to drive while you’re listening to ‘Person That You Marry.’ Don’t ask me how I know.”

Off stage Kelly possess an inviting warmth mixed with sly self-deprecation, a winsome combo only earned with some life experience, self-awareness and nothing to prove on stage just the goods to stop a listener in their tracks. "This is not my first rodeo," Kelly says of her label debut. "I worked really hard in Texas before I came to Nashville. I wrote songs, put out records, did a radio tour, and played every weekend while going to school and working full-time.”

The album’s title, I’ll Tell You What’s Gonna Happen, is a clever nod to her friend and fellow Texas musician, the late Country Music Hall of Famer, Billy Joe Shaver. The abbreviated quote comes from the better-than-fiction-true story of Shaver forcing his way into a Waylon Jennings recording session after the star tried to renege on recording some of his songs. Brushing off a $100 bill to go away, Shaver said to Jennings, "I'll tell you what's gonna happen. You're gonna either listen to these songs or I'm gonna whip your ass." Waylon agreed to listen to one. The rest is history in the form of Jennings' 1973 Honky Tonk Heroes album, on which every song but one was written by Shaver.

“I landed on this album title on a dare," Kelly says. "I was like, 'Sure. What do I care?' I did the Texas music scene, I’ve done time in Nashville, and I thought my time had passed when I got offered my record deal. My husband could keep writing songs and I'd just be a speech therapist. So I made this album like it's the last one I'll ever get to make and the title is my mantra so to speak. I love good songs, and I let the best ones win whether I wrote them or not. It’s a compilation I’m proud of, and I’m thrilled for people to hear them!”

MOTHS Release New Single "Unbound"

Puerto Rican prog/stoner rockers MOTHS have released the first single from their upcoming debut album. The new track, "Unbound", is out now - with a lyric video premiering now via Ghost Cult Magazine at the link here.

Speaking about the new track, bassist Weslie Negrón comments:

"'Unbound' was one of the first tracks we wrote for this album. It's a strong song that delves into both the atmospheric and heavy sounds of the band. Lyrically, it speaks about being done pretending, done with the world and its demands, and overcoming the pains that this life brings."

The debut album from MOTHS, 'Space Force', will see an August 12th, 2022 release.

Speaking about the upcoming LP, the band shares:

Space Force marks an evolutionary step in our music and everything we’ve created as a band up to this point. This album represents maturity both lyrically and musically, and with it, an esoteric journey for those who want to encounter challenging music. ‘Unbound’ is the first take of this musical trip, a heavy, yet catchy song that pretty much sums up what Space Force is about.”

About MOTHS

Every band wants to strike a pristine balance between evoking their influences, embracing their originality, and earning their place within the genre(s) they inhabit. That’s often easier said than done, especially when it comes to styles that have developed so quickly and broadly over the past few decades. As stoner/progressive metal quintet MOTHS proves, however, it can certainly be done. Fusing charming familiarity with captivating freshness, their prior two releases—2018’s self-titled EP and 2020’s split with Philadelphia rockers The Stone Eye—demonstrated an exceptional ability and willingness to saturate shades of their musical forebearers with plenty of wide-ranging and idiosyncratic personality.

As remarkable as both of those collections were, though, they’re mere appetizers compared to what MOTHS have crafted with their debut LP, Space Force. A “complete audio-visual experience”—as bassist Weslie Negrón puts it—the record sees the group composing their most mature, expansive, and rewarding material to date. Packed with quirkily intricate yet welcoming instrumentation, as well as highly varied and compelling songwriting and vocal approaches, Space Force is a thrilling statement of purpose and validity from one of stoner/progressive metal’s greatest up-and-coming acts.

Of course, MOTHS are also motivated by their culture, and alongside standout acts like Avandra, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Errant Society, and Parallel Dimension, they rank as one of the best Puerto Rican stoner/progressive metal groups. “It’s part of our DNA to put some Puerto Rican influences into our music. For example, the closing section of ‘Awake’ taps into Latin jazz,” Negrón reveals. In addition, he, Miranda, and González studied Popular Music at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico (and Rodríguez has the same major), so MOTHS are well versed in the “odd time signatures” present in Salsa, Bomba, and Plena (among other styles).

Naturally, that broad musical palette helped make Moths, and Moths/The Stone Eye Split incredibly illustrative. Plus, their distinctive sound and fortitude led to Moths getting spotlighted on Bandcamp Daily in 2018, as well as its second track—" Adhara & Ray”—being featured in Adult Swim’s “Stimulus Swim” playlist in 2020. As such, there’s already considerable hype for what Space Force will bring to the table, and luckily, it’s guaranteed to exceed all expectations.

From its gentle and cosmic guitar prelude (“Space Cowboy Ballad”) and fusion of ‘70s heavy metal and progressive death metal (“Broken Slumber”) to its hybrid of experimental space rock and jazz rock (“There’s No Place Like Space”), Space Force is an extremely diverse, engrossing, and poised voyage. Coupled with its equally mind-bending artwork, the LP surely finds MOTHS at the most imaginative and skillful stage of their career.

MOTHS Lineup:

Damaris Rodríguez – Vocals

Daniel Figueroa – Drums

Jonathan Miranda – Lead Guitar

Omar González – Rhythm Guitar

Weslie Negrón – Bass

England’s Doom Metal Masters CONAN Announce New Album, "Evidence of Immortality" + Colossal First Track!

New Album out August 19, 2022 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order HERE!

England’s doom metal masters CONAN strike back again! Following their much acclaimed 2018 full-length, Existential Void Guardian, and their Live at Freak Valley record released just last year, the trio has announced the release of their fifth studio album, entitled Evidence of Immortality, due out on August 19, 2022 via Napalm Records.

As first album single proves, on their upcoming magnum opus, the British kings of brutally heavy slowness push their down-tuned axes and cranked pedals to the limit, crushing ears and minds when huge, rumbling chords and malevolent riffs muscle their way in over lances of infinite distortion and drums that pummel and thunder like the hands of a god against the gates of hell.

The first single “Levitation Hoax” showcases CONAN’s trademark sound combined with fast-paced riffage and a pounding groove in epic doom metal grandeur, before dragging you deep into a black hole, as you scream in silence.

“‘Levitation Hoax’ grew from a riff that was created in December 2019, when we were on tour with Cavalera Conspiracy”, guitarist and singer Jon Davis comments. “The song begins as a thrash metal onslaught and just gets heavier and heavier as it progresses. It was a fun track to write, and has some of my favourite lyrics from the album.”

Watch the new CONAN video for “Levitation Hoax”  below.

Evidence of Immortality was written between December 2019 and late 2021. As such, it has absorbed a lot of the emotions that were flowing through our lives then,” Davis continues. “The lyrics were written on the eve of the war in Ukraine so, naturally, they deal with subjects such as victory and defeat, loss and hope, pain and determination, fear and hatred. Movies such as Conquest, Lord of The Rings, Fire and Ice, Krull, Beast Master and Clash of The Titans once again provided inspiration for the themes of the songs, as we maintain our determination to not write about real world events. You want to escape? Throw this record on, turn the lights off and turn it up until your fucking ears bleed.”

Evidence of Immortality was produced by Chris Fielding and mastered by James Plotkin. The album also sees former band member Dave Perry perform on the track “Grief Sequence”. The album’s artwork was provided by the skilled hand and mind of Tony Roberts, architect of the CONAN visual style since day one and their debut release, Horseback Battle Hammer. Bow down and hail CONAN, as their sound will live forever on the battlefield of doom. Their new album will be the ultimate Evidence of Immortality!

Slated for a release on August 19, 2022 through Napalm Records, Evidence of Immortality will be available in the following formats:

- Digisleeve

- 2LP Gatefold BLACK (ltd 300)

- 2LP Gatefold MARBLED CLEAR/BLACK (ltd 300)

CONSTELLATIA Drops New Music Video for "The Garden"

South African post metal band CONSTELLATIA are now releasing the brand new official music video for the song, "The Garden," which is taken from the band's latest EP, 'The Language of Limbs." The video, which was filmed in Cape Town and Johannesburg and was edited by Larissa Johnson, can be seen below.

CONSTELLATIA comments: "'The Garden' is a dirge about revisitation, and how when coming back things could possibly and most likely change. It's an end and it's a beginning. It also talks about the power struggle and helplessness that sometimes comes with being in a relationship and how that fleeting romantic landscape shifts and distorts. Musically, The Garden was the most progressive track on our debut record, and revisiting it now it's easy to see where we left off, and the subsequent evolution to our new sound, which feels like an expansion on this song, whilst treading new ground."

But there's more great news! CONSTELLATIA finalized their newest full-length album which will be released via Season of Mist. Stay tuned in for the official title and release date - all will be revealed soon!

'The Language of Limbs' was originally released on November 15, 2019 and soon after, the four piece landed a worldwide record deal with Season of Mist. The pressings are available in various formats HERE.

Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, CONSTELLATIA is the collaborative vision of Gideon Lamprecht and Keenan Oakes, founders of well-known acts CROW BLACK SKY and WILDERNESSKING respectively.

'The Language of Limbs' is essentially a post-metal record with black metal and progressive influences, and a healthy dose of ambience and atmosphere; always deeply engaging with a flair for the romantic and nostalgic. "It is a record that came from a place of desperation; a musical outlet for the years of hardship both members endured in their personal lives." Gideon Lamprecht comments. CINNAMON BABE Partners with Revolver Magazine for "Messiah" Video Premiere

CINNAMON BABE, the emerging nu-metal project of model/actress/influencer Stormi Maya, has released a music video for their new single "Messiah".

"Messiah" is available now on all streaming platforms.

Commenting on the new single, Stormi states:

“I wanted to try something different for our next single. Even though I consider myself more nu-metal/punk, I wanted to dip into the industrial/electronic rock sound. One of my biggest musical idols is Nine Inch Nails...that was my inspiration. I wanted to make something sexy, dark, and powerful. Feminine power."

She goes on to add: “While most of my music written is about my battles with mental illness, past traumas, and struggles, I took a break from that to make something sexually empowering and fun. [Messiah] is about being worshipped, adored, and in control: all the things we secretly desire. This song makes me feel like a goddess in a world where I mostly feel like a freak."

LISTEN TO "Messiah" HERE!

CINNAMON BABE is an LA-based nu-metal outfit led by model, actress, and outright hustler Stormi Maya. The Bronx native, who grew up on bands like The Cranberries and would later find inspiration from the rebellious voice of acts like Rage Against The Machine and Linkin Park, has come a long way to make this dream a reality. As a black woman, an ally of BIPOC and the LGBTQ+ community, and most of all, a survivor, Cinnamon Babe is Maya's vehicle to tell her truth.

Stormi has dealt with struggles and stereotypes her entire life. As a young girl, she survived domestic abuse, homelessness, the foster system, and mental health issues. To the world that knows her as a successful model and upcoming actress, those stories remain a mystery. But Cinnamon Babe is an entirely different venture for the tireless worker who built a better life on the other side of her tumultuous past - it's an honest expression of the demons and inner strength that came from it.

SHUDDER ACQUIRES AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY THIS IS GWAR

June 14, 2022 – Shudder, AMC Network's premium streaming service for horror, thriller, and the supernatural, has acquired rights to the documentary. This is GWAR, which gives rare insight into the 30-plus year career of one of the world's most outrageous heavy metal bands, GWAR, known for their grotesque costumed characters and notoriously wild, fluid-soaked stage shows. The film, which world premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX, and won the 2021 Audience Award at NIGHTSTREAM, will be available exclusively on Shudder in the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand on Thursday, July 21.

"For more than three decades, GWAR has set the standard for heavy metal horror with larger-than-life personas and gore-filled stage shows that were unlike anything anyone had ever seen,” said Shudder General Manager Craig Engler.  “But even their most ardent fans have never seen them like this, as the band and director Scott Barber reveal in moving detail the literal blood, sweat and tears that have made GWAR the true legends they are today."

Added GWAR, "GWAR is founded on horror, humor, and heavy metal. Of course, we love Shudder! It's our favorite. Every movie is like a home movie for us. Are you kidding me?? Monsters, demons, the undead, dinosaurs? Those are our people! GWAR and Shudder. Two terrifying tastes that taste terrifying together."

This is GWAR is the powerful story of the iconic heavy metal art collective, as told by the humans who have fought to keep it alive for over thirty years. The feature documentary includes interviews with the band members, both past and present, and other artists, including Weird Al Yankovic, Thomas Lennon, Alex Winter, Bam Margera, and Ethan Embry, including never seen footage of legendary GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus).

This is GWAR is directed by Scott Barber (Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story), with producers Tommy Avallone (Bill Murray Stories) and Josh Goldbloom (V/H/S/94). Executive Producers include Bill Parks, Zach Blair, Matthew Helderman, and Luke Taylor.

The deal was negotiated by Josh Goldbloom on behalf of the filmmakers, and Emily Gotto, VP, Global Acquisitions & Co-Productions on behalf of Shudder.

About GWAR

The story of GWAR is carved across the history of this hopeless planet, but GWAR themselves are not of this world…Their story begins far past Uranus, in the deepest reaches of space, where the beings known as GWAR were warriors in the Scumdogs of the Universe, an elite fighting force in the army of the Master of All Reality. But GWAR proved too reckless and powerful, and after a series of tragic but hilarious blunders, they were banished to the furthest reaches of the galaxy, with orders to conquer an insignificant backwater prehistoric mudball known as the planet Earth. Once here, GWAR, the original Ancient Aliens, shaped the face of the globe, wiping out the dinosaurs, and mating with apes to create the human race. Having accidentally given rise to all human history, the Master of All Reality froze them in Antarctic ice where they could do no more harm. It was there they were discovered by a shady entrepreneur known as Sleazy P Martini, who sat the band down in front of professional wrestling, late-night horror movies, heavy metal music, and a steady diet of crack cocaine until GWAR became the cultural force they are today!

Dublin synthpop artist CIRCUIT3 releases 'Overview Effect' EP via Manchester's AnalogueTrash label

"Truly retro-futuristic... youthful sound that lifts your spirits" ~ The Record Stache

"Uplifting electro pop with Pet Shop Boys-esque Fairlight drums, poppy vocal samples and a joyful lead vocal" ~ Altvenger

"Classic synth with fabulous textures, voicing and rhythmic effects" ~ Electricity Club

"Very well balanced.. an album that can make your speakers pop" ~ Synthpoplover

"Stunning blend of analogue synth ear candy and 5 minutes into-the-future lyrics in a style not seen since the 1978-1982 era of electronic pop" ~ AnalogueTrash

Dublin synthpop artist Circuit3 (AKA Peter Fitzpatrick) presents the 'Overview Effect', a five-track EP offering a scintillating taster ahead of the artist's third album 'Technology For The Youth' LP, slated for release on July 15 via Manchester's AnalogueTrash label and mastered by Richard Dowling, known for his work with Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Motorhead, David Bowie, Foo Fighters, New Order and Sparks.

Showcasing his distinctive blend of retro-futurist pop music, this EP includes a radio edit and dub version of the title track, featuring tandem vocals with Alessia Turcato, along with remixes by KeX/1 (Lloyd Price of The Frixion) and AnalogueTrash label-mates Vieon. The non-album track 'Ariane 5' is named for the European Space Agency space rocket.

This follows the well-received lead single 'Future Radio', which was co-produced by Wolfgang Flür (Kraftwerk) collaborator iEuropean (Sean Barron) and was co-written with Brian McCloskey. It also features a remix by Ricardo Autobahn (AKA John Matthews), best known as one half of Spray and UK chart toppers The Cuban Boys.

One of the first tracks written for this LP, the roots of 'Overview Effect' trace back to a livestream improvisation, which he coincidentally recorded. The lyrics came later, inspired by astronauts’ documented experiences viewing our home planet.

James T. Kirk also went to space in real life. Life imitated art. On his return, William Shatner said ‘I'm so filled with emotion about what just happened ... it's extraordinary. I hope I never recover, that I can maintain what I feel now. I don't want to lose it. It's so much larger than me and life. I am overwhelmed. I had no idea.’ Shatner had experienced the overview effect - a cognitive shift caused by the experience of seeing first-hand the reality of the Earth in space.

"This effect brings about profound changes in those who have undergone it, changes others should take on board,,” explains Peter Fitzpatrick. "After observing our planet from space, astronauts feel obliged and responsible for the care of this tiny fragile ball of life, shielded only by a paper-thin atmosphere. The cool rich kids are going to space. It's all the rage. Maybe we should protect what's left of this planet before playing space tourists? The universe isn't going anywhere. The earth certainly is. Our house is on fire. Won't someone please tell the cool rich kids?”

Circuit3 debuted with the 'siliconchipsuperstar' LP (2018), followed by 'The Price Of Nothing & The Value Of Everything' (2019), praised by Martyn Ware (The Human League, Heaven17). He also recently featured on Rodney Cromwell 'Opus Three' EP.

For Fitzpatrick, 'Technology For The Youth' was the album he always hoped he would make, constructed from the brave ambitions of forward-thinking scientists and politicians, along with the remembered hopes, dreams and fascinations of a young Dublin boy. These crisp electronic pop songs and atmospheric instrumentals were created with an enviable array of analogue synthesizers. Focused on the period before digital synthesis, the lyrics are informed by space exploration efforts pre-dating the first Space Shuttle.

As of June 8, 'Overview Effect' will be released across online platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp. The 'Technology For The Youth' LP will enter orbit on July 15, to be made available digitally as well as vinyl (with 5 different colour options).

ABOUT POWERWOLF:

The story of POWERWOLF, beginning in 2004, reads like a true fairytale, but is the result of the most hard-working and entertaining live band on the heavy metal planet. POWERWOLF has not only received plenty of Gold and Platinum awards to date, but numerous releases have entered the official German album charts at the top position of #1. With Blessed & Possessed (2015), POWERWOLF achieved Gold status (in the Czech Republic) for the first time, while its predecessor, Preachers Of The Night (2013), hit the official German album charts at #1, and the incredible DVD, The Metal Mass(2016), came in at #1 of the German DVD-Charts. POWERWOLF's holy mass in the name of heavy metal is unstoppable – their latest magnum opus, The Sacrament of Sin (2018), again entered the album charts at #1. The accompanying, almost completely sold out Wolfsnächte headline tour – in which POWERWOLF headlined large venues with their phenomenal stage performances – became a single major triumph, as well as the numerous summer festival shows in which crowds were thrilled and completely captivated by the wolves and their unique, (un)holy metal mass. At the end of 2021, POWERWOLF

celebrated The Monumental Mass – a streaming event that set new standards. With the new studio album, Call Of The Wild, and the upcoming tour charging through the largest halls in Europe, the whole world is completely under the sign of the wolf pack once again!

POWERWOLF are:

Attila Dorn – vocals

Falk Maria Schlegel – organ

Charles Greywolf – guitar

Matthew Greywolf – guitar

Miranda Lambert Brings "Actin' Up" to "The Tonight Show" + TIME100 Broadcast as "The Bandwagon Tour" Wraps

MIRANDA LAMBERT RETURNS TO
“THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON”
PERFORMING “ACTIN’ UP” OFF NEW ALBUM PALOMINO

Watch the TIME100 Honoree Perform This Sunday, June 12 at 8/7c on ABC’s Broadcast of “TIME100: The World’s Most Influential People”

The Bandwagon Tour Wraps This Weekend Ahead of Reigning Entertainer of the Year’s
Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas Residency This Fall

Reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year Miranda Lambert brought a rowdy performance of “Actin’ Up” off her latest album Palomino, the highest debuting country album of 2022, to NBC’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last night, June 8. Watch the full performance HERE.

Got my own kind of country, kind of funky, turn it up” she taunted, clad in a custom Aubrey Hyde x Fort Lonesome set featuring neon palomino horses, Idyllwind metallic green booties and her signature fringe while delivering a lively rendition of the song NPR celebrates as “steeped in Lambert’s brand of sass and swagger” with Stereogum elaborating, “swagger-mode Miranda Lambert is the best Miranda Lambert.”

Viewers can see Lambert perform the album cut again this Sunday, June 12 at 8/7c as TIME and ABC bring viewers inside the exclusive TIME100 Gala for the first time ever with the “TIME100: The World’s Most Influential People” television event. As the only country artist on 2022’s TIME100 list, Lambert is part of a distinguished group of individuals honored for their impact, innovation and achievement.

Whether challenging conventional notions in her current Top 15 “If I Was A Cowboy” with the subversive lyrical question “So mommas if your daughters grow up to be cowboys, so what?,” using her voice to write and record the inclusive “Y’all Means All” anthem, or lending her time to raise money for the MuttNation Foundation (her nonprofit that provides support to animal shelters and encourages adoption), as Pitchfork notes, Lambert “manages the hat-trick of both timeliness and timely activism.”

The three-time GRAMMY winner also wraps her co-headlining The Bandwagon Tour with Little Big Town this weekend having earned rave reviews throughout its run. With Charleston’s Post and Courier celebrating the show’s “fringe-flingin’, boot-stompin’, girl power energy” and the Houston Press praising the way the set “bounced between tenderhearted, vulnerable tunes… and the stuff she truly excels at, songs which allow her to be a complete and total badass,” the Tennessean also noted, “the presence of mournful blues that has colored Lambert’s voice since the beginning of her career felt more deeply worn into the crevices of her singing and guitar playing than ever before.”

Lambert will once again take the stage this fall as her Velvet Rodeo residency takes over the Zappos Theater at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas starting in September. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.MirandaLambert.com.

Following 2019’s critically acclaimed release of her GRAMMY Award-winning album, Wildcard, the Texas native ushered in her next musical era with the recent release of Palomino lead single “If I Was a Cowboy” (currently climbing the Top 15 at Country radio), while also adding her voice to Netflix’s new season of Queer Eye with inclusive anthem “Y’all Means All.” Her co-headlining The Bandwagon Tour with Little Big Town is currently underway and the 2022 TIME100 honoree kicks off her Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas residency at the Zappos Theater at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino this September.

Darius & Friends Raises $516K for St. Jude, Bringing Total to Over $3 Million

DARIUS RUCKER SURPASSES $3 MILLION RAISED FOR ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH HOSPITAL WITH 13TH ANNUAL “DARIUS & FRIENDS”

Sold-Out Ryman Auditorium and At-Home Live Stream Audiences Combine With Golf Tournament Participants to Raise Record-Setting $516,000 in 2022

All-Female Guest Lineup Featured Sheryl Crow, Lindsay Ell, Sara Evans, Caylee Hammack and Rachel Wammack

Nearly 15 years after first visiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® where he was immediately inspired to pledge his support, three-time GRAMMY Award winner Darius Rucker continues to give back, surpassing the $3 million mark in his fundraising efforts with this year’s 13th annual “Darius & Friends” benefit concert on Monday night, June 6, which was followed by his corresponding golf tournament and silent auction on Tuesday, June 7. This year’s event alone raised an all-time high of $516,000, bringing together a sold-out audience at the historic Ryman Auditorium with at-home fans watching via live stream.

Reflecting on his first visit to the hospital in 2008, Rucker explained to the sold-out crowd, “I’m talking to one administrator and she said, ‘when you bring your kid to St. Jude, we fly you in, we put you up, we feed you and we never send you a bill.’ I started talking to people there and it’s true. That day I said, I want to do something to help. I’m doing this for St. Jude – thank you guys for coming out!”

Now, more than a decade later, that effort has become an annual tradition. The benefit concert, which serves as an unofficial kickoff to CMA Fest as fans descend on Music City each summer, is famous for its surprise lineup of stars and this year was no different. “Tonight is ladies’ night!” Rucker declared when kicking off the evening, setting the stage for a night full of 30 hit songs and beloved covers by Rucker and his friends: Sheryl Crow, Lindsay Ell, Sara Evans, Caylee Hammack and Rachel Wammack.

After a live auction and donation round which added thousands to the fundraising tally, the evening’s true purpose was on display as Addie, a St. Jude cancer survivor who was diagnosed with leukemia when she was 15 years old and has been in remission for five years, earned a standing ovation with her acapella rendition of “Never Be Enough” from “The Greatest Showman.”

Rucker kicked off the main event with a trio of hits – his Platinum-certified No. 1s “This” and “For the First Time” followed by his latest release, the timely “Same Beer Different Problem” – before introducing the first friend of the evening as ACM and CMA Award-winner Sara Evans took the stage to perform her enduring chart-topping hits “Suds in the Bucket” and “A Little Bit Stronger” before rounding out her set with a cover of Yvonne Ellman’s “If I Can’t Have You.”

Rucker then returned to the stage, thrilling the crowd with his Double Platinum-certified No. 1 “Alright” and Platinum-certified chart topper “Come Back Song” before introducing rising star and Muscle Shoals native Rachel Wammack, who performed her own “Bless Your Little Heart” and “Like Me” before thrilling the at-capacity crowd with a rousing rendition of Miranda Lambert’s Gold-certified “Little Red Wagon.”

The evening’s host continued the show with his hits “Homegrown Honey” and “If I Told You” as well as Hootie & the Blowfish classic “Hold My Hand” before introducing his recent Darius Rucker Live theater tourmate Caylee Hammack, who performed her debut single “Family Tree” and recent release “Forged in the Fire” before bringing the crowd to their feet with her rocking version of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.” Rucker then returned to the stage, joining Hammack for a duet of his unreleased song “Never Been Over,” written with Brothers Osborne’s John Osborne and previewing what’s to come on his forthcoming album currently in the works.

Rucker kept the Hootie & the Blowfish nostalgia coming as he performed “Let Her Cry” accompanied by the chorus of a sold out Mother Church audience, before continuing the singalong with his latest No. 1 hit, “Beers And Sunshine.”

The Ryman audience then erupted with joy as Sheryl Crow took the stage, performing her Platinum-certified chart topper “If It Makes You Happy” and “Everyday Is A Winding Road” as well as being joined by Rucker for a poignant duet of “The First Cut is the Deepest,” with Rucker calling the “Darius & Friends” veteran “a true legend.”

Donning a white tuxedo jacket, he then performed a jazz section featuring Frank Sinatra’s “Summer Wind” and “Fly Away” backed by a brass quartet and his all-star band. He then introduced the final guest of the evening, with ACM and CMA nominated songstress Lindsay Ell bringing the crowd to their feet for an extended guitar solo during her performance of her latest single “Right On Time” plus “I Don’t Love You” as well as a remarkable cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.”

Rucker closed out the memorable evening with a rousing cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie” as the show then ended according to tradition, with Rucker joined by the sold-out Ryman crowd for a “Wagon Wheel” singalong, the feel-good energy throughout the auditorium symbolic of the night as a whole.

This year’s milestone fundraising event adds yet another successful page to the decade-plus history of “Darius & Friends.” Prior guests have included Lauren Alaina, Jason Aldean, Brooks & Dunn, Brothers Osborne, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs, John Daly, Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum, Ashley McBryde, A.J. McLean of the Backstreet Boys, Brad Paisley, Kenny Rogers and Tommy Thayer of KISS, among many others.

The annual fundraising event, made possible with support from generous sponsors AMD, Hendrix Enterprises, CDW, Intel, Fanatics, Hewlett-Packard, CAA and Arrow Electronics, helps ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – so they can focus on helping their child live.

Hank Williams Jr. Releases "Fireman Ring The Bell" from Upcoming 'Rich White Honky Blues' 6/17

As Hank Williams Jr. readies fans for Rich White Honky Blues, set for next Friday, June 17 via Easy Eye Sound, the Country Music Hall of Famer debuts his take on R.L. Burnside’s “Fireman Ring the Bell,” a high-tempo blues burner, driven by punchy slide guitar punctuated by the longtime legendary country outlaw’s dynamic vocals.

A 12-song collection reprising classics from Robert Johnson, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Burnside, Muddy Waters, Big Joe Turner and a few from Bocephus himself, captured live over the course of just three days by GRAMMY-winning producer Dan Auerbach, Rich White Honky Blues finds Williams making good on his legacy with a turpentine and rough wood take on the hill country blues that informed his father’s raw-boned style.

Today’s release follows “Jesus, Won’t You Come By Here,” which premiered exclusively with CMT and CMT.com. With Kenny Brown’s electric guitar, Auerbach on dobro and Bobbie Wood’s churchy piano and organ, the Country Music Hall of Famer sings with a robust conviction that suggests the larger than life amongst us transcend mortal limitations.

With another cover from blues legend Burnside, Williams’ “Georgia Women” premiered with Tennessean, sharing “Bocephus achieves tapping into the spirit of his father's iconic teacher Rufus ‘Tee Tot’ Payne, and a century of other blues legends.”

Released alongside the announcement of Rich White Honky Blues, album opener “.44 Special Blues” (Williams’ take on Robert Johnson’s “32-20 Blues”) was dubbed by Rolling Stone as “a lonesome, acoustic blues number,” while Consequence shared “the spry solo track digs into the County Music Hall of Famer’s bluesy roots, with its vintage-style refrain, ‘Baby where’d you stay last night,’ pairing perfectly to his well-worn wail.”

“You bring who you are,” Williams says. “All that... all... of... that... is where my music comes from. When we got into the studio, the more we played, the deeper we got – and the deeper we got, the harder I wanted to go.”

“It’s that rawness, and how real it is,” shares producer Auerbach. “I was always searching for the rawness, the darkest stuff. Once we were in it, as soon as we started playing, Hank was invested. That lifted everybody else up, to really push each other.”

Featuring Ray Alder & Mark Zonder of Fates Warning!

Watch The Video for the First Single "The Machine Gunner"

In early 2020, famed former drummer for Fates Warning and WarlordMark Zonder, began working on new material with the vision of beginning a new, full-time band that would offer something different from his current catalog. The mission was to deliver straightforward, no-frills hard rock that speaks to a broader audience. The end result, which sees Zonder reunite with Fates Warning lead vocalist Ray Alder, along with bassist Philip Bynoe (Steve Vai, Warlord), guitarist Joop Wolters, and keyboardist Vivien Lalu, is A-Z! Today, the band is thrilled to announce their self-titled debut album will see an August 12, 2022 release via Metal Blade Records.

A-Z is pleased to share a new music video for the album's first single, titled "The Machine Gunner", below.

Speaking about the band's debut album, Zonder (drums) comments:

"It has been a long time coming, but we are all very excited to share A-Z with the world and get the show on the road!! With an exceptional-sounding album and brilliant artwork from Hugh Syme, let the games begin!"

PRE-ORDER HERE!

About A-Z:

When Mark Zonder, famed former Fates Warning and Warlord drummer, started working on material in early 2020 he had a very clear vision for the band he wanted to put together. “I was thinking beer commercials, car commercials, and Cobra Kai. I wanted to have a very accessible band that would appeal to the masses and would lead to the ability to tour larger venues and build a second and third record off the success of the first. I did not want to hear things like, ‘I don’t hear a single, it is too proggy, I just don’t get it, let me listen to it a few more times’. I knew from myself and the others that I would recruit, it would have some sophisticated music parts but the big hook was the main priority.” The result was A-Z, and while Zonder is adamant it is not a supergroup that is doing a ‘one and done’ record it has a stellar lineup, reuniting him with Fates Warning vocalist Ray Alder, Warlord/Steve Vai/Ring of Fire bassist Philip Bynoe, guitarist Joop Wolters and keyboardist Vivien Lalu, the combination of these players stirring up a very specific kind of magic that could not be replicated.

Things came together smoothly from the start, Zonder sending drum patterns and grooves to first recruit Lalu, and he would write songs using guitar sounds so between the two of them they had basic song structures pretty quickly. Zonder knew Bynoe would jump on board as they have a long history and mutual respect and Lalu had worked with Wolters for years, recruiting him for the band. Both Wolters and Lalu brought in great musical ideas that were turned into songs. The goal was always the same: shorter songs and getting right to the chorus, no twelve-minute songs, and everyone found it easy working to this remit. With everything else coming together nicely, finding the right singer was the hardest aspect of the whole process.

“I had sent out a basic song to over 20 different singers, some popular named singers and some unknown, but completely struck out,” says Zonder. “Then I just decided to call Ray as I was not sure what he was up to. I figured it could not hurt to get in touch. I do remember speaking with him back in the day and him talking about how he loved this kind of music. I sent him a track or two and he just killed it.” Adds Alder, “I found this a chance to do something completely different than what I am used to, being in a prog metal band for 30 years. I find the blend of the 80s, 90s and a touch of 70s style of music very cool, and it is great to work with Mark after all of these years.” Thrilled to have him on board, Zonder did not have a list of demands. “My only words to him were ‘do whatever you want.’ I was not going to tell him what to do. Same for all of the others guys. Yes, there has to be some editing and making decisions, but when it came to the music I just wanted everyone to do what they do best.” The results are undeniable, from the high octane stomper “The Machine Gunner”, to the gorgeous sway of “Rise Again” or the towering “Stranded”, every track an anthem that sounds like only the biggest venues could contain them.

The band’s name came courtesy of Alder - A-Z = Alder thru Zonder - and it fit straight away. “What I liked is that it did not limit what someone would think of the band. If we named the band Scary Serpent it would give a certain direction and I did not want people to prejudge the band and record,” Zonder says. Likewise, self-titling the record made sense. “I did not want to give a direction idea to the audience. If we named the album Far Side of the Horizon, people would probably think ‘prog band’. But if you named it The Machine Gunner, it would give a totally different direction for thought.” For artwork, wanting to again get the best possible contributor, they turned to the famed Hugh Syme (Rush, Fates Warning), who delivered the vivid image of a zebra eating an apple, encompassing the band name in a sly way. “Again, hire the best people you can find and just let them do what they do. The artwork is absolutely fantastic and really fits the whole concept. He is truly the best. Just a great guy to work with.”
