The unstoppable octet Diablo Swing Orchestra continue fearlessly on their musical rollercoaster ride.

The band is hurtling towards the release of their stupendous fifth album Swagger & Stroll Down the Rabbit Hole, out November 2 via Candlelight/Spinefarm, with the video for "Celebremos Lo Inevitable."

Guitarist/vocalist Daniel Håkansson says, "The song draws inspiration from the Mexican holiday Día de Muertos and its celebration of friends and family members who have passed on but still live in our hearts and through our memories of them. It's our first song in Spanish and since we wanted it sound authentic, we had a Mexican vocal coach in the studio just to get the pronunciation correct."

The spirited, progressive eight-piece Swedish ensemble are known for pairing elements of jazz, swing, classical, and progressive rock with just about everything in between. Since their foundation in 2003 the band have released four studio albums which push musical boundaries to the extreme with humour, creativity, and a healthy dose of positive aggression. Their debut The Butcher's Ballroom was a breath of fresh air when it came out in 2006 to worldwide critical acclaim. Swagger & Stroll Down the Rabbit Hole is the band's fifth effort and is by far their most ambitious undertaking, which pays tribute to all four previous releases and adds some new colors to their already broad pallet of sounds.

DSO have once again teamed up with producer Roberto Laghi (In Flames, Hardcore Superstars), who has become almost the ninth member of the orchestra. Together, they've dug deeply into each of the genres explored in the 13 album tracks and worked hard to find the appealing genre characteristics to forge their own sound. This approach has resulted in an impressive list of guest musicians and some very interesting clashes between sounds which, at least on paper, shouldn't work. Listeners with an open mind will be rewarded by numerous goodies littered throughout the album, ranging from the tribal assault that is "War Painted Valentine" to the Zeppelin-gospel-infused "Snake Oil Baptism."

As with many bands, COVID-19 presented multiple challenges but also presented opportunities, which allowed them to take their time in the studio since there was no tour waiting to happen. The mixing process alone took over half a year but Diablo Swing Orchestra are confident that they've produced an album that will leave an indelible mark, while inspiring others to try out fresh ideas on genre-blending.

The Great Leap Forward presents 'It's a Wonderful Lie', a tongue-in-cheek critique of our modern lifestyle and expectations, lifted from his new long-player 'Revolt Against An Age of Plenty'. His first album in nine years, this vigorous, scintillating and life-affirming 13-track offering is released via Europe's A Turntable Friend Records.

This is the solo project of British multi-instrumentalist songwriter and lyricist Alan Brown, well known as frontman of Manchester agit-postpunk icons BIG FLAME. His legacy as an underground artist dates back to 1983. Featured on the influential C86 NME cassette with BIG FLAME, Brown also recorded nine John Peel sessions for BBC Radio One with BIG FLAME (4), The Great Leap Forward (2), A Witness (2) and Inca Babies (1).

Since BIG FLAME's split in 1986, Brown has channeled his work as The Great Leap Forward, writing all songs and lyrics, as well as playing and programming all instruments on recordings.

The new LP features Brown's trademark political digs and social commentary, with incisive political and social commentary layered over sharp yet melodic guitar pop – plus a touch of electro and humour thrown in for good measure.

Earlier, he previewed the title track 'Revolt Against An Age of Plenty' with video by Richard Gardner, railing against mass consumerism and media control.

"The culmination of four year's writing, this album has a more varied approach than previous releases. Whereas previously I've concentrated on a political approach, this album takes a wider view of the world - perhaps it's an age thing - last year (2020) saw me reach a milestone birthday which I explore in the song 'Can You Kanreki?’, celebrating the Japanese concept of second childhood and re-birth for those hitting 60," says Alan Brown.

"Of course I still provide the trademark political and social vignettes - how could I not - such as the title song of the album 'Revolt Against An Age Of Plenty' – named after a collection of works by the English writer Jack Common in which I rail against mass consumerism and media control."

The Great Leap Forward debuted with the ‘Controlling The Edges Of Tone’ EP in 1987, followed by 1988's ‘A Peck On The Cheek À La Politique’ EP, described by the NME as "conspicuously excellent" and the 12-inch single ‘Who Works The Weather?’

1988's debut album ‘Don't Be Afraid Of Change’ was praised by The Guardian, Melody Maker and other leading magazines, leading to UK and Europe tours with the likes of That Petrol Emotion. In 2007, The Great Leap Forward reformed, releasing albums ‘Finished Unfinished Business’ (2008) and ‘This Is Our Decade of Living Cheaply and Getting By' in (2012).

Released on July 30, the 'Revolt Against An Age of Plenty' LP is available as a coloured double-vinyl gatefold LP and gatefold CD with 16-page lyrics booklet. It is also everywhere online, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

Bullet For My Valentine have released the official video for current single "Rainbow Veins."

Arguably their most stunning yet, this new music video completes a collection of visceral and instinctive clips honed by creative director, Fiona Garden. Garden and singer/guitarist Matt Tuck have worked closely and intensely across all accompanying imagery around Bullet For My Valentine's upcoming seventh studio album, marking a distinct visual era for the band.

"Rainbow Veins" is taken from their forthcoming self-titled album Bullet For My Valentine, which is due out November 5 via Spinefarm/Search & Destroy.

Tuck began writing the album in September 2019 before the coronavirus pandemic brought things screeching to a halt in early 2020. But in June 2020, Tuck and long-time producer, Carl Brown, who co-produced the band's 2015 album, Venom, and produced and mixed Gravity, picked up the pace again. Together, they hunkered down at Treehouse Studio in Chesterfield, where the remainder of the album was written.

Dave Navarro Comments On Seeing Society 1 Perform In New Documentary "The Altered Noise"

In the recently released documentary The Altered Noise, directed by Matt Zane, Dave Navarro sat down to discuss his thoughts on seeing Society 1 when they were booked on his 2008 show Spread TV. Within the interview he mentions how Matt Zane is "an incredible frontman" but his attention was pulled immediately to recently deceased former bassist DV "Dirt" Karloff.

"As incredible as a frontman Matt is it was nearly impossible not to 
stare at Dirt. " said Navarro

Within the clip Navarro talks about knowing Zane for years and feels 
fortunate to have seen Society 1 at that time. Years later Navarro and 
Zane would eventually share the stage together performing Static X 
material in honor of the late Wayne Static.

Society 1 will continue to perform and just announced 2022 dates with 
Static-X, Fear Factory, and DOPE. Jimmy Minj, who will be playing bass, reached out to DV Karloff prior to his passing asking for his blessing 
to fill the bass duties.

"I had seen Dirt play in Society 1 numerous times so I reached out to 
him. He told me of his current situation and encouraged me to audition, even going so far as to give me some pointers about the songs and Matt’s writing style. Thanks to his help, I was brought in as the new Society 1 bass player and I certainly have to some HUGE shoes to fill!!" said Minj

The Altered Noise follows Karloff through various phases of his career and 
also touches upon his incredibly successful profession as a tattoo artist that 
saw him inking up celebrities such as Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, 
and Steve-O.

"His life really was interesting, regardless if you're a fan or not. He was 
this young guy from the cornfields of Indiana that came out to Hollywood and 
within eight months he's touring the world and that was just the 
beginning of the story," says Zane.

Madame Mayhem Releases New Single "I Am More" + Official Music Video

MADAME MAYHEM released her new single "I Am More" to all digital platforms! The single was co-written by Madame Mayhem and Keith Wallen (of Breaking Benjamin).

"I Am More" is very much about self empowerment, standing up for yourself and telling the world not to underestimate you. It's a song that really gives confidence. We are all stronger than we know" says Madame Mayhem.

She adds, "This song is so personal for me. When I perform it, all the frustration, emotion and attitude that flowed through me when writing it comes right back. Writing with Keith Wallen is always a pleasure, and this song came about so seamlessly, it really was like telling a true life story about how I was feeling. AS I LAY DYING Release New Single, "Roots Below"+Share Details For Deluxe Edition Of Shaped By Fire!

Today, San Diego quartet AS I LAY DYING has released a video visualizer for their new single, "Roots Below". Staying true to the sound they are known for, the track is the first single initially written during the Shaped By Fire writing sessions. Watch the visualizer below.

Phil Sgrosso states, "'Roots Below' was a track I initially wrote for the Shaped By Fire album, but at the time we collectively felt it needed more time and attention to develop to its fullest potential. We were finally able to piece it all together along with some other material taken from the Shaped By Fire touring cycle, bundling it all into a deluxe version of the album. Apart from the studio versions of 'Roots Below' and 'Destruction or Strength,' there will be an assortment of live songs captured on tour from 2019 in Europe, several ballad/electronic re-interpretations, a studio version of an instrumental track we wrote exclusively for the live show, an instrumental version of the entire album, as well as some other transitional pieces from our set that we wanted to share as part of this release. This has been a very productive first step towards getting back into the creative zone and beginning to focus on new material for next year."

Featuring each artist in caricature, the video – like the song – aims to bring attention to the challenges faced by today’s young generation and lets them know they are not alone.

While it can be challenging growing up in current times, We Are PIGS, Brian “Head” Welch and JR Bareis want kids to know that there is always hope. As Welch told Metal Hammer about the new art piece, “For youth today, the world can be a particularly dark place, filled with many temptations. But there is always help available if one reaches for it, as the red balloon symbolizes in the video.”

The song was produced, engineered, co-written and co-sung by Esjay Jones, the mastermind behind We Are Pigs, and was originally inspired by the HBO show “Euphoria” and its raw portrayal of sex, drugs, identity, social media and the difficulties of navigating life as a teenager. Similar to the show, Jones, Welch and Bareis wanted the music video to be uncomfortable and thought provoking.

As Jones has said, “I spoke to Brian about the concept – initially thinking the message was, the ‘kids AREN’T alright,’ but as we started working together, we wanted to spread positivity, hope and purpose to youth with our words, and ‘kids are alright’ became the mantra.”

I let the electric energy of the live room take over which is interesting in that I actually wrote this song on an acoustic as a slow-burning Blues song. Tom Hunting comments, "'The Years Of Death And Dying' started out as a poem, from the perspective of Death, being a thinking entity, always watching and looking for weakness and opportunity to come calling for people. A Grim Reaper story. We were losing legends: Bowie, Cash, Petty, Prince, Frey…the list goes on and on. Then we started losing family members and friends in our own orbit. Anyway, the title came first, then the poem, which became a song. I shared the lyrics with Gary, who helped inspire me with phrasing to finish it, and the guys loved it.   • Literally translating to “an unwelcome” or “unacceptable” person, PERSONA NON GRATA touches on themes of modern societal disgust and degradation. The band gathered at Tom Hunting's house in the mountains where they produced and recorded Persona Non Grata from three home-built studios. Steve Lagudi was at the helm of engineering while the band enlisted Andy Sneap of Backstage Studios to mix the album. For the third time in the band’s history, they returned to Swedish artist Par Olofsson to create the album artwork.
