FARGO History

Founded in 1973 by Peter Knorn and Peter Ladwig, the group soon earned itself a faithful fan base and went on to sign a recording contract only a few years later. For a while guitarist Matthias Jabs, who joined the Scorpions in 1978 and went on to make a global career, was also part of the Fargo fold. Fargo themselves developed into an internationally acclaimed act, too, released their debut album in 1979 and brought out three more superlative studio albums by 1982, all of them on EMI, the major label giant of that time. The band toured all over Europe, played with the greatest luminaries of the rock scene, performed outstandingly successful tours with AC/DC, Mothers Finest, April Wine and The Small Faces, among others, and wowed TV audiences on a regular basis. Thanks to their sensational live shows (including Knorn’s legendary nightly head-first somersault), Europe’s biggest teen magazine BRAVO devoted two full pages to the Fargo bassist in January 1981.

You can see the stunt here at 2:09: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYHsGGYvzdk

Following a time of upheaval, the hard rock act Victory emerged from Fargo in 1984 and continued the successful career of its predecessor seamlessly. After a hiatus of 34 years, Fargo returned in autumn 2017 and went on to release their comeback album "Constellation" one year later.

FACE THE FIRE released their new single "Remember What You're Made Of" to all major platforms today!

“Remember what you’re made of is about remembering your strength when you don’t think you have anything left to give” says Brandon Hammond, the band's lead vocalist.

To create Face the Fire, you must melt components from multiple genres. Start with the driving drums and bass from active rock, throw in the guitar riffs from metalcore/punk. Top it off with some vocalmelodies/screams from all of the above and put it in the urban blender that is Chicago, IL.

Brandon Hammond (vocals), Matt Balhan (lead guitar), Josh LeGrett (rhythm guitar), Kevin Maclean (bass) and Mike Kozlick (drums) came together in the summer of 2015. They started putting together some riffs, some melodies and some choruses. This evolved into an EP. But they needed something to tie it all together.

In stepped Jose Urquiza (3 Years Hollow) and Morgan Rose (Sevendust). The dynamic duo of production worked with Face the Fire and put together a killer debut album, Built to Burn in 2017. “Both of the guys worked together with us on songs from the album and it turned out to be an awesome, educational experience.” Says Brandon.

Educational indeed. So much so that the band wrote their latest release, “Remember What You’re Made Of” in their studio/practice spot in Mokena, IL and picked up Jordon Popp (Seven Day Sonnet) for some finishing touches and production. The song drops on June 11, 2021 and many have said it’s the band’s best work yet.

MERCURY CIRCLE (feat. members of CHILDREN OF BODOM & SWALLOW THE SUN) Share Brand New Music Video For "Black Mirrors"! New album, "Killing Moons", to be released October 8th on Noble Demon

Following their critically acclaimed The Dawn Of Vitriol EP (2020), MERCURY CIRCLE have shared a brand new song from their upcoming and highly anticipated debut album, "Killing Moons", which is slated for release on October 8, 2021 via Noble Demon!

Born as a brainchild in 2018 by ICONCRASH's and SWALLOW THE SUN’s Jaani Peuhu, and featuring members of CHILDREN OF BODOMSLEEP OF MONSTERS & more, MERCURY CIRCLE create a diverse blend of dark rock infused with electrifying synth wave and slow, epic doom. On their upcoming full-length album, MERCURY CIRCLE unleash ten enthralling tracks, which differ wildly in expression and sonic aesthetics. "Killing Moons" is a deeply powerful and majestic piece of music - truly representing a genre of its own - and one that will take the listener on an all-absorbing trip into yet unimaginable spheres.

After the previously released first single, “You Open Up The Earth”MERCURY CIRCLE have shared a brand new video clip for the goth rock opus "Black Mirrors“ today!

Watch the video here

"John Dee (13 July 1527 – 1608 or 1609) was an Anglo-Welsh mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, teacher, occultist, and alchemist. He was the court astronomer for, and advisor to, Elizabeth I, and spent much of his time on alchemy, divination and Hermetic philosophy," band mastermind Jaani Peuhu reveals. "The lyrics for Black Mirrors are a mixture of matters of the heart and occultism. In the beginning we hear a prophecy from Nostradamus before plunging into a dark and delusional world - a place for the abandoned heart, where light is reflected from John Dee’s black mirror. Musically it’s more in vein of goth rock than doom metal. When writing the song I envisioned how Queen with a goth rock twist would sound. I’m a fan of big choruses and 80’s goth beats. Add a little bit of spiderwebs and whispers in French and you’re good to go!"

"Killing Moons" will be coming out on October 8th through Noble Demon and is now available for pre-order HERE

MERCURY CIRCLE are:

Jaani Peuhu - Vocals, Guitars, Synths (Iconcrash, Swallow the Sun, Hallatar)

Jussi Hämäläinen - Guitars, Synths, Backing vocals (Hanging Garden, The Chant)

Juppe Sutela - Guitars (To/Die/For)

VELVET INSANE Release Music Video for New Single "Sound of Sirens"

New Album 'Rock n' Roll Glitter Suit' out July 16

VELVET INSANE has delivered a new single and music video, titled “Sound of Sirens”, from their upcoming studio album 'Rock ‘n’ Roll Glitter Suit'. The new album from the Swedish glam-rock trio is a 60’s pop gem made for the modern day.

Watch the music video below.

The band comments:

“We feel very proud of this catchy singalong pop gem, and that it shows a slightly different side of Velvet Insane. Strongly influenced by The Beatles and 60’s pop music, this song gives you shivers and shows our passion and love for all kinds of music. It's a track that we're really looking forward to playing live and feel the energy from the audience in the future. With this video, we want to celebrate where we come from. The 70’s. Kiss, ABBA, Slade, and glam rock/pop in general have meant so much to us in our musical upbringing. 1970’s influences in pictures and music but with the sound of today.”

"Sound of Sirens" was written by the legendary Sulo Karlsson of the Diamond Dogs, who also produced and wrote the tracks with the band on the upcoming album 'Rock ‘n’ Roll Glitter Suit'.

The eleven-track long album manifests Velvet Insane as a rock act to count on for years to come. 'Rock ’n’ Roll Glitter Suit' will see a July 16, 2021 release via Wild Kingdom.

PRE-ORDER 'Rock n' Roll Glitter Suit' HERE

The new, 11-track offering from VELVET INSANE, 'Rock ’n’ Roll Glitter Suit'sounds, breathes and swaggers like it was made in London 1973. Smooth pop harmonies pumped up by heavy drums and barbed wire guitars and singers that wear it well. It brings back memories of a time when Slade, TREX, Bowie & Roxy Music were topping the charts.

From the catchy singalong choruses of the pop gems “Velvet Tongue”, “Riding the Skyways” & “Sound of Sirens” to the frantic boogie energy in barroom stompers “Driving Down the Mountain”, “Backstreet Liberace” & “Spaceage DJ”, it’s the real thing. You also get a glimpse of Ziggy Stardust in the acoustic ballad “Midnight Sunshine Serenade”.

Velvet Insane are a band that plays with their hearts on their sleeves and its satisfaction guaranteed. Dregen and Nicke Andersson from The Hellacopters jump in the backseat on “Backstreet Liberace”, and just like Rolling Stones honored the tradition of Muddy Waters blues, Velvet Insane takes on the job to keep rock ’n’ roll alive.

SPLIT SECOND MELTDOWN Releases Re-Imagined Version of Jimi Hendrix's "Foxey Lady" featuring Richard Fortus Today!

"Foxey Lady" buy/stream link:

https://lnkfi.re/FoxeyLady

Blazing a new path for Alternative Rock in the 21st century, acclaimed Jersey City N.J. based band Split Second Meltdown released a new single today.

Re-imagining a Jimi Hendrix classic, Split Second Meltdown's cover of "Foxey Lady" features Guns N Roses guitarist Richard Fortus on guitar, Charlie Paxson and Sol Walker of Death Diamond on drums and bass, and front man Rob Clores on vocals, rhythm guitar and keys.

“It's maybe a bit risky doing a completely different arrangement of a classic song," says Clores, "but I found it fun to re-imagine "Foxey Lady" re-harmonized, while keeping the melody mostly intact."

While the legendary Hendrix riff has been replaced with a completely new harmonic structure, Split Second Meltdown's version contains all the urgency and bombast of the original, injecting a new level of complex musicality without diminishing any of the original songs muscular drive.

Split Second Meltdown is Rob Clores - songwriter, vocalist, rhythm guitar and keyboards. Guests include Charlie Paxson and Sol Walker (Death Diamond) on drums and bass, as well as, Jimmy Messer (Awolnation) on guitars.

Additional musicians include John 'JD" DeServio (Black Label Society) on bass, Bob Pantella (Monster Magnet) on drums, Kenny Dubman (Prophet), Tony Bruno and Andee Blacksugar on guitar.

“Long Live Rock…Celebrate The Chaos”

Today, L.A.-based hard rock duo Satellite Citi premieres the acoustic video for new single “Empath” via MXDWN who says of the song, “Husband and wife hard-rock duo Satellite Citi are known for their hard-hitting riffs, but their new song ‘Empath’ shows the band’s ability to shift gears into a more introspective sound. … Expect to hear a lot from this dynamic, up-and-coming Los Angeles duo over the next few years.”

Like many of Satellite Citi’s songs that have a strong message woven throughout the lyrics and art, “Empath” is centered around the five stages of grief -- Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance -- and aims to help end the stigma surrounding mental health.

See the acoustic video for “Empath” HERE.

Get the track at Bandcamp HERE.

The band, featuring drummer/vocalist Anna Gevorkian and guitarist Shaunt Sulahian, say of the video, which features many of their family and friends: “We thought it was important to create a symbolic visual representation in our video, as the world is slowly crawling out of one of the darkest periods in modern history and there’s a responsibility that individuals have to be proactive and seek help when they are in a bad mental state. We want to join the fight to end the stigma surrounding various mental illnesses that affect so many people.”

mail-15.png

Satellite Citi has also released an exclusive new “Empath” T-shirt with proceeds benefitting NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). It features original artwork by Jaime Valderrama. Entitled “CHAMELEON,” it’s based on the subject of mental health and the struggles he's overcome. The T-shirt can be purchased HERE.

Gevorkian and Sulahian are both Armenian-Americans born and raised in Los Angeles. They first launched Satellite Citi in 2015 with the eloquent track “Rock Bottom” to commemorate the 100thanniversary of the Armenian Genocide. In late 2020, they returned to that important topic with the powerful song “Antibody”, featuring Crobot’s Brandon Yeagley, that premiered on Loudwire. It was dedicated to the people of Armenia and aimed to bring awareness to the latest attacks on the country beginning in late September 2020 that killed hundreds of innocent civilians and displaced thousands more.

Both “Antibody” and the original version of “Empath” are singles from Satellite Citi’s upcoming fall 2021 album Fear Tactics, which is produced by the lauded Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Liz Phair, Touche Amore) and features a wide range of inspiration from Black Sabbath to Muse to Halestorm. Previous singles have included “Black Magic,” “Miscommunication” and “Getaway.”

As a follow-up to their acclaimed 2018 debut EP Negative Space, the new album will thematically center around the importance of mental health and represents the band’s own struggles of coping with fear and anxiety, that are even more permeated in today’s culture. As Huffington Post has declared of the band’s important messaging in their songs, which have also included songs devoted to LGBTQ+ youth, “Satellite Citi are on the road to delivering audiences with music that tackles important issues that our society is facing today.”

A regular fixture on the stages in their hometown of Los Angeles, Satellite Citi is joined live by two anonymous Spacewalkers on bass and guitar that further taps into the band’s curiosity of other realms and advanced life forms. The band’s name, in fact, is based off of the idea of a city, outside of our galaxy, where people communicate with their minds.

In addition to music, Anna and Shaunt love video games and writing—they are currently working on their first original sci-fi graphic novel called Spacewalker with former DC editor Jim Higgins, that will coincide with a new concept EP in 2022. Satellite Citi also has five songs featured in the recently released rock documentary Long Live Rock…Celebrate The Chaos, directed by Jonathan McHugh, that features bands such as Metallica, Korn, Slipknot, and Rob Zombie. The trailer can be viewed HERE. As well the band’s song “Getaway” is featured in the new show “The Freak Brothers.”

About Black Label Society
Black Label Society bandleader Zakk Wylde wields his guitar like a Viking weapon, bashing out thick riffage and squeezing out expressive squeals as if the glory of his Berserker brotherhood depends upon every single note, which of course, it does.

Charismatic beast and consummate showman, Wylde puts his massive heart and earnest soul on display with unbridled, unchained, animalistic passion in Black Label Society, whether it’s a crushingly heavy blues-rock barnstormer or a piano-driven ode to a fallen brother. Each Black Label Society album is another opportunity to top the one before it, but like AC/DC or The Rolling Stones, BLS isn’t here to reinvent the wheel. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It’s a brand we can trust.

Mighty missives like “Damn the Flood,” “In This River,” “Stillborn,” “My Dying Time,” “Queen of Sorrow,” and “Blood is Thicker Than Water” have amassed millions of downloads and streams. They are the soundtracks to sweat soaked revelry, jubilant evenings that descend into bewildering mornings, and adrenaline-fueled sports.

To many, Wylde is synonymous with pinch harmonics as much as Chuck Berry dreamt up the duck walk. Zakk’s signature Les Paul Bullseye guitar hangs in the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. His infamous leather bell bottoms hang in the Grammy Museum. His handprints are on Hollywood’s Rock Walk of Fame. He’s performed the National Anthem at major sporting events. He wrote the 2013 Major League Baseball theme for ESPN. He even momentarily joined Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff in Guns N’ Roses. He is a playable character in the Guitar Hero games.

A lifelong disciple of Black Sabbath and the longest-serving guitar-shredder for the Ozzman himself, Wylde co-wrote modern Ozzy Osbourne classics like “No More Tears,” “Mama I’m Coming Home,” “Road to Nowhere,” and “Miracle Man.” Together with Ozzy bassist Blasko and drummer Joey Castillo (ex-Queens Of The Stone Age), Wylde pays faithful tribute to the forefathers of metal as frontman for Zakk Sabbath.

One part invading horde and all parts traveling carnival party, Black Label Society traverses the world powered by caffeine and cacophony. BLS engages and inspires audiences everywhere they go, on every radio dial they burn, inviting all comers to join in and participate in their brotherhood and sisterhood of hard rock and vigor.

Now ten studio albums deep, with solo records, Ozzy shows, and Zakk Sabbath tours all kicking ass simultaneously, Black Label Society rides ever forward, fist held high.

As mentioned above, UNLEASH THE ARCHERS are beyond excited and humbled to be the 2021 recipients of the 'Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year' JUNO Award for their latest album, Abyss! The JUNO events, which took place over the course of this past weekend, recognize Canadian musical artists and bands for their creative achievements. The band was recognized during Friday's JUNO Opening Night Awards, presented by Music Canada.

Brittney Slayes says about the band’s JUNO win:

“We are still in shock; we dared to hope but still couldn't believe it the moment they said our name. It's just such an incredible feeling; all you can ask is to be recognized for the hard work that you put into your art and this is so far beyond that. We are ecstatic! It was such a great experience as well, CBC Music did a great job with all the logistics and everything went so smoothly behind the scenes. They really did well to make you feel like it was a special event despite the whole thing being virtual! Not to mention we streamed the whole thing on Twitch so it was so great to get to share in the moment with our friends and fans on there; we wouldn't have wanted to win any other way! Thanks so much to everyone that has supported us over the years, we absolutely would NOT be here without you.”

Upon its release in August of 2020, Abyss scored banner praise from critics and fans alike, with Stereogum dubbing the opus "a ripper", and Bandcamp enforcing it as "a mandatory listen". Abyss also charted worldwide, debuting at the #1 spot on the US Current Hard Music and Top New Artist Albums charts, as well as #4 and #8 on the US and Canadian Billboard Top 200 Hard Rock charts, respectively.

UNLEASH THE ARCHERS is:*

PENTRAL 'The Shell I'm Living In' (prog rock/metal, produced by TIM PALMER)

"Haunting, cavernous, mysterious, heavy and dark... Purveyors of a huge sound with a loaded message" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Ambitious... a pounding reality-based offering" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Quest for spiritual healing and dealing with the highs and lows of life and toxic people. It touches upon how hard is to cope with grief and loss and how rewarding it is to bounce back from rock bottom" ~ Prog Magazine

"Pentral take the listener into the Amazon, its beauty, punctuated with atmospheric sounds of nature pulled directly from the rainforest, through all the harsher elements, unveiled through the heavier deliverance of 12 pulsating tracks" ~ American Songwriter

"Fine specimen of dark and haunting metal rock, the power of which is amplified through atmospheric background vocal contributions throughout" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"An orchestral/progressive style that is hard to attain. Beyond the progressive sound, however, is that original set of three personalities only found in the best power trios" ~ Jammerzine

Like an unstoppable train, Brazilian progressive rock / metal trio Pentral power ahead with their new single 'The Shell I'm Living In' from their debut long-player 'What Lies Ahead of Us'. This 10-track LP saw legendary producer Tim Palmer (Robert Plant, Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie's Tin Machine, The Mission, HIM, U2, Pearl Jam) co-producing with Pentral, Sergio Fouad and Cesar Bottinha. Palmer also mixed the LP, which was mastered by Justin Shturtz (HIM, The Psychedelic Furs, Nancy Wilson, Slipnot, Tin Machine).

Hailing from Belém in northern Brazil, Pentral is Victor Lima (vocals, guitars, songwriter, lyrics), Vagner Lima (drummer) and Joe Ferri (bass guitar). This album exposes the tragic reality of many Amazon dwellers, whose habitat, lifestyle and livelihood are brutally taken from them, not to mention the destruction of the forest itself. Through their videos and lyrics, Pentral tells the story about this violence and pilfering of the Amazon's natural habitat.

"One of the chapters of our debut album 'What Lies Ahead Of Us', the child and her mother in mourning after the death of her husband, roam around the city. It is meditative and emotional, but also fierce and energetic. An inspirational rock song to make you think and get some extra strength, thinking about the huge challenges many people face around the world," says Victor Lima.

"Poverty and hunger have no specific place or country. All around the world you see people who are socially deprived due to a lack of food, health, freedom, education and many other needs. In Brazil is no different and we’ve never been worse than we are now. In our “story” describing the daily reality – the mother and her child after running away from the forest that is being burned down and try to survive inthe city, facing hunger and all sorts of harassment, with a spiritual presence always around them."

Earlier, Pentral released high-energy singles 'No Real Colour In Souls', 'Aiming For The Sun', 'All My Wounds' and 'Silent Trees' - the sonic launching pad into a concept album reflecting on today's society, presenting the saga of a lowly couple fighting for their lives and sanity. The accompanying video sequence was filmed in their native Amazon – a dedicated saga unfolds, track by track. Directed and edited by Roger Elarrat and produced by Luana Klautau, this also involves Lucas Escócio as director of photography, this video features actors Anne Costa, Guto Galvão, Eduarda Cursino, Boris Knez and Aldo Lima.

The lyrics speak about loss. The kid and her mother are wandering around the forest as they know they have to get out and try to go on with their lives somewhere away from that place. Racism is clearly portrayed on the song as well. This is an odious plague that still chases up the human beings and that have to be confronted. It’s a quite introspective song! It resonates with the name of the band – Pentral, which means Soul. At the end of the day, this is what we really are – a Soul, before, during, and after our material existence.

Their unique take on alternative rock can be described as progressive, heavy, groovy and melodic, while the band also deliver a strong political message about what is going on in Brazil and all over the world.

Pentral stands for 'spirit' in Latin, indicative of the message this band is trying to inspire via their sound - the need to transcend this material world through the power of music, without losing connection with reality and human frailties.

Deeply influenced by their Amazon roots, Pentral's music is influenced by many global influences while also striving to honor Brazil's groove and unique harmonies, progressive rock, metal music, atmosphere and melody. This debut album sums up years of experimentation and the search for human awareness of the environment, peace and equality.

"The album 'What Lies Ahead of Us' is like a "declaration" and it was conceived way before COVID-19 came out...But it kind of fits the current reality we´re going through. This pandemic is the outcome of the unfriendly way we've been treating our environment and ourselves as well, and it served to expose our insensitivity, our lack of empathy,"says Pentral frontman Victor Lima.

"It's a story about a man and a woman who lives in the woods. The forest is invaded by a group of mercenaries (pretty common in Brazil) in order to burn the woods down and make money with that, the man is killed, the woman manages to survive and she is pregnant, then she gives birth to a girl, and They try to survive in the city, experiencing racism, violence, hunger, selfishness, indifference. The only thing they have - they love each other. So, the elements of the story - environment being destroyed, people suffering discrimination by the color of their skin, by the place where they came from, being selfish and violent for the sake of their own interests and prejudices, politics and religion abuse and extremism and the only way I believe things could be solved - the power of love."

'What Lies Ahead of Us' album is out now everywhere digitally, including Apple Music and Spotify. It can be ordered via https://pentral.lnk.to/ WhatLiesAheadOfUs or via Amazon.

ENDER BENDER 'Bewildered' (synthpop)

"A gift to retro-styled dance pop / synthwave lovers... A tasty morcel of synthwave delight with just the right attitude for this gloomy Covid-laden day in age"Big Takeover Magazine

"A rapture level electro grab to the nostalgia strings"Jammerzine

"Free-flowing... A fun-packed feel-good summer anthem that seriously channels good vibes from the easier days of yester-decade (the 1980s come to mind)" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Feel-good vibing happy-go-lucky pop,.. a flashback to mid-1980s British and French pop"The Record Stache

"Positive vibing... high frequency tracks for listeners everywhere"Original Rock

Indie pop artist Ender Bender has released his new single 'Bewildered', a fresh synthtastic offering that comes hot on the trail of 'Have A Good Time', a summer anthem that first teased his forthcoming 'New Era' EP. Loaded with future-retro pop earworms, this EP is intended as both an escape and a reminder of what is important - a soundtrack to help you enjoy yourself and what we still have to cherish following a heavy pandemic-laden year.

Ender Bender is the solo project of composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Eddie Olguin. The material on thiss new 5-track electro synthwave offering was written last summer in defiance of the spirit-crushing pandemic and his new obsession with the emerging retrowave/chillwave movement.

After years of living an adventurous rock-and-roll life in Los Angeles, Eddie Olguin moved to Rome in the name of love, but also found new energy and inspiration (void of scenes and scenesters) to reinvigorate his passion for music and redesign his musical career path. Once in Rome, Olguin built a studio and made the transition from being a live performer to primarily a studio musician-producer. Thus was born Ender Bender - a new catalyst for his new mission.

With the Covid pandemic encouraging more time in the recording studio, 2020 motivated Eddie to hone his production skills and to begin composing instrumental cinematic cues. This led to scoring several corporate demos (for the development of a virtual reality game) and, ultimately, working as part of a busy collective of LA film composers. He has been working as a film composer ever since.

"This EP is steeped in escapism simply because it literally served as my personal escape from what was happening at the beginning of the pandemic here in Italy. It’s also about creating a paradigm shift in our overall experience as humans. I can’t help but feel that we have completely lost touch with what’s real and with the true sense of why we’re here and where we come from," says Eddie Olguin.

"When the pandemic hit, it was like one big final blow to the gut. I realized many of us felt this way so I wanted to make music about reconnecting with what matters: family, friends, life and mainly love. In other words, it’s a slice of positivity to help you deal with the negativity we’re faced with every day."

In 2020, Ender Bender debuted with his 'EQ' EP and singles 'Star Killer'and 'Honey Lavender Girl', released soon after the lockdown frenzy began. His first foray into studio production, this release garnered super reviews and international radio play.

Both 'Bewildered' and "Have A Good Time' are out now across online stores and streaming platforms, including Spotify. The 'New Era' EP will be released on June 25 and can be pre-ordered at Bandcamp.

BRKN LOVE Release Electrifying Cover of Post Malone's "ALLERGIC" - LISTEN

On Tour This Summer with Pop Evil!

Toronto-based Hard Rock outfit BRKN LOVE have spent the past year hard at work in the lab; crafting the follow-up to their 2020 self-titled debut. Today, the band is thrilled to share a special treat with their fans ahead of their sophomore effort, and have dropped a cover of Post Malone's "Allergic" from the multi-genre breakout record 'Hollywood's Bleeding'. The brainchild of 23-year-old frontman/guitarist Justin Benlolo, BRKN Love began making waves in 2019 with their rollicking debut single "Shot Down"

Fans can check out the band's cover of "Allergic" at the link found here.

"Post Malone is a rockstar and everyone knows it. We wanted to exploit that. When I first listened to Hollywood's Bleeding, I thought to myself, 'this is a rock album hiding behind hip-hop production.' Allergic was the closest thing I’d heard that was almost a hard rockin’ song and I just thought it would be fun to take a crack at it. This is a tribute to one of music’s biggest icons and I hope you enjoy our take!"

Previously, BRKN LOVE also covered Bishop Briggs' hit song "River" for the deluxe version of their debut record. The cover has become something of a viral sensation, with more than 30,000 unique videos featuring the track created on TikTok boasting over725 million total views, and another 34 million views on all other user-generated content platforms.

In addition to the new track, BRKN Love have announced that they will be hitting the road in North America this summer alongside Pop Evil! Dates can be found below.

WITHERED Shares Official Music Video for New Song, "Dissolve"

Tortured blackened death metal machine WITHERED are now sharing the official music video for the song "Dissolve," which is taken from their upcoming record, 'Verloren.' The video and song can be found below.

Moreover, WITHERED have announced their triumphant return to the stage! One August 6, the band will be performing an album release show to support their upcoming record, 'Verloren,' at The Earl in their hometown of Atlanta, GA. Tickets are on sale now and available HERE.

ICYMI: Artist Paul Romano (MASTODON, HATE ETERNAL, etc.) gave an in-depth behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the unique album art for 'Verloren!' Both Romano and WITHERED vocalist/guitarist Mike Thompson give in-depth interviews about the concept, working together, and more in this detailed article, which is accompanied by an exclusive video clip and photos! Check it out via Heaviest of Art at THIS LOCATION.

'Verloren' is due on June 25 via Season of Mist Underground Activists! The album can be pre-ordered HERE.

From its inception, WITHERED has been an outlier, a perplexing charge of extremity which the metal scene has never been able to put its finger on.

“We want to compound new elements into every album,” posits guitarist/vocalist Mike Thompson, “and we’re definitely a band for metal nerds. Our audience seems to be the old-schoolers who are absorbed by this stuff every day and jaded folks of a certain age. Industry types and peers tend to get it, but that’s about it.”

Thompson’s self deprecating assessment of his creative output might be part gentlemanly humility talking or a harshly realistic take on WITHERED’s cult status, or somewhere in between, but with an impressive body of work fanned out over the course of 18 years and five albums which have weathered as many trends, the Atlanta quartet continues to confound and refuses to compromise. New album, Verloren is the band’s most daring and iconoclastic work yet, one that spits in the eye of complacency and exists as a contrarian masterstroke.

Originally formed by Thompson and ex-guitarist/vocalist Chris Freeman in 2003 following a spell in local grind institution Social Infestation (alongside Mastodon’s Troy Sanders), WITHERED’s initial goal was to re-write black, doom and death metal modes and mores. To that end, the band has achieved that goal as their sound and aesthetic refuses to clearly state which subgenre they call home. Over the course of its history, WITHERED has generated more questions than answers about who they are and what they do. They’ve toured with the varied likes of Mastodon, High on Fire, Dismember, Grave, Vital Remains, Possessed, Watain, Mayhem, 1349, Krallice, Skeletonwitch and Danzig. Their live show provides an air of never-know-what-you’re-gonna-get mystery. See them on one occasion and it’s a DIY kick in the gut with stripped down, rehearsal room bareness appropriately complementing the lunacy. The next time they get in the van they’ll do so accompanied by rigged up columns of light cloaking the stage in bloody reds and searing whites. And with Verloren, the band’s forthcoming fifth album, Thompson and his band mates – drummer Beau Brandon, bassist Rafay Nabeel and fellow guitarist/vocalist Dan Caycedo – continue to nudge both thematic and sonic goalposts by providing relatable food for thought while retaining the adversarial fire that has powered the engine since the start.

“There’s a philosophical introspective approach to the subject matter that informs our writing style. We’re trying to create an atmosphere that complements the themes and that’s something we’re trying to circle back around to on Verloren.”

WITHERED’s first album, 2005’s Memento Mori, generally speaking, tackled the subject of mortality and the grieving process that follows significant loss, trauma and tragedy. Album number two, 2008’s Folie Circulaire was, as Thompson describes, “more existentialist, nihilistic and Nietzsche-ian” while 2010’s Dualities was an exploration of Jungian psychology and the shadow self. As alluded to in the title, 2016’s Grief Relic started into the U-turn back towards the exploration of the role and impact of grief as the men of WITHERED themselves entered that stage of life in which older family members, friends and childhood heroes were passing away, expectedly and otherwise. Five years on, Verloren rounds out the turn with a sinister sound and an area of study more akin to a deep therapy/counseling session instead of the usual gore and lore that often emboldens extreme music.

“Rafay wanted to use the theme of ‘missing’,” explains Thompson, “which was broad and abstract, so I dialed it down to be more about this outlook I’ve developed over the years about how each of us have a ‘Love Well.’ Every bit of love you get from your parents, your upbringing and your learning how to receive and experience love in relationships and through experiences contributes to the well. Your traumas counterbalance that and take away from it, especially when foundational core elements take a hit, like the untimely loss of a parent. That’s one of life’s unique puzzle pieces and when that piece is removed it’s never going to be replaced.

“We’re equipped with a certain capacity – our wells are filled to a certain level – and when you start getting smacked with traumas, whatever you have in that well - your defense mechanisms - can get worn down pretty quickly, especially for someone who has never really known love because of a broken home, difficult relationships or whatever. Each one of us in WITHERED carry unique traumas that we’ve focused this new record on. For me, most of my significant losses are from older wounds that I’ve dealt with through WITHERED from the very beginning, but with this being the first album with Dan and Rafay, it’s like a new exercise for them to really focus on the things they’ve been carrying around.”

Verloren translates to “missing” from German and relates not just to the friends, family and pieces of the member’s lives and hearts that have, and will go, missing as the time ticks on unfettered, but also, in the face of the global pandemic, just how much the activity of being in a band has been missed by everyone who took the write/record/tour cycle for granted. Verloren demonstrates a topical uniqueness; one that discusses the stuff everyone from the steeliest of black metal cape wearers to the gore-obsessed death metal crushers and everyone playing in a band or not has had to - or will have to - confront at some point. By leveling the elitist playing field so often found in extreme metal underground attitudes, Verloren offers a more holistic experience, elevating WITHERED by being unafraid to discuss topics that fly in the face of what most would connect to the sounds they make.

“About two years before I started WITHERED,” Thompson recalls, “I went through a series of traumas where I was forced to take stock of and define my foundational ‘puzzle pieces’ that could be taken away and what the trauma and grief is going to look like when I lose close family and/or friends I truly care about. Ironically, one I didn’t face until recently was WITHERED. No one ever thought that not being able to play shows or tour because of a pandemic was even feasible. I processed the idea of losing WITHERED and playing music and touring and everything else around the time of Grief Relic when two guys quit the band and I lost a lot of steam and inspiration. Luckily, Beau was there to kick my ass and shake me out of it. When it comes to this album, there was an initial suffering of anxiety because of the uncertainty in the world and the fear of losing this album because we put a lot into it, are super proud of it and it is the best WITHERED album yet. It’s important for my inspiration and motivation to go forward. It takes so much effort for us to create a record, the thought of it for it to all be for naught or potentially be wasted just destroys me.

“Surprisingly, we haven’t had a lot of push back on these themes, though I would love to take on that conflict!” he laughs. “For most people, metal is purely aesthetic, a grandstanding ‘f-you!’ to society and an adolescent rebellion kind of thing. But at the same time, we do get positive feedback from the people who have looked a bit deeper and done some research. We just want to be honest. We used to make the joke when we go out on tour, especially in the early days when deathcore was all the rage and we’d be on these weird package bills, that ‘Hey, we’re WITHERED and we’re here to bum you out.’ We’re not a party band or a shock band so you don’t get the fun aspect from us when going to a show. I’ve always been frustrated that we’ve never been able to communicate our super-realism and the different perspectives of life. If I want to sing about how much gratitude I have for my mother in a roundabout way, then whatever, we’ll do it!”

As WITHERED enters its third decade, they’ve drawn a more insular and conclusive line in the sand. The band has forged further forward with the process of eschewing typicality, including not utilizing any of the usual producer suspects to help sculpt Verloren. Instead, they flew the flag of independence by again going down the route of self-production with Thompson himself taking the bull by its horns.

“We get a little bit more deliberate every time around and starting with Grief Relic we decided not to hire anyone to help produce and filter it through a particular lens. We started self-producing and I kind of took the reins on that last time and more so this time and also when it came to selecting who was going to engineer [Raheen Amlani at Orange Peel Recordings], then mix [Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios] and master it [Jarrett Pritchard]. The trick is to find someone who loves Times of Grace as much as they love Clandestine and His Hero is Gone, Napalm Death and all the way out to later Enslaved and can balance all those things. If it’s truly honest and truly communicating the intention of a song, then it’ll be powerful, heavy and generate emotion.”

Verloren also revisits WITHERED’s traditional methodological step of sitting down and looking at the present state of metal before consciously lashing out against what’s taking up most of the broader public’s attention.

“We’re constantly looking for something new to do. We love genre bending and putting D-beats next to funereal riffs next to black metal blasts and heavy doom riffs and figuring out how to make it all work and make sense with whatever vibe we’re trying to nail down. For this one, I wanted to lean back into the funereal doom world. I got burnt out when doom – especially southern doom, being a southern band - was the word of the day around the time of our first two records. We basically ran in the other direction and got away from doing any full-on doom parts for a while. I wanted to come back around to that, so we went back to bigger stuff like My Dying Bride for the couple of eight minute epics on the album [album opener “By Tooth in Tongue” and closer “From Ashen Shores”]. Also, for the first time in my life and against my better judgment, I decided to write clean vocals and I’m singing on two songs. They’re kind of buried in the mix a little bit because I’m still self-conscious about them, but they were the only things that made sense for the parts we wrote. I tried to fight it, but nothing extreme was accomplishing the goal. On top of that, we go the other way where three of the songs have some super crusty and grind elements. Part of why I asked Dan to join the band was because I knew he would get the sludgy, crusty side of things and help me cultivate that better in WITHERED. On the album, ‘The Predation,’ ‘Dissolve’ and ‘Casting in Wait’ are his. Those would be the twists on this album because we’re always trying to write what we think is missing and what we want to hear in heavy music after sitting down and looking at the landscape of what’s out there.”

And despite being deliberate oppositional in the subject matter they choose to explore and express, how much of their hearts and souls they choose to strip bare for fickle crowds and grind against whatever current musical grain the rest are cruising along, the determination, seriousness and importance of WITHERED in each member’s lives hasn’t ebbed. In fact, it’s only been magnified with time and circumstance. Having been forced into a year off from normal band life has made it clear how vital WITHERED is for everything from creative expression, social networking, wanderlust, overall personal sanity and moving forward.

“Personally, I’m very, very fortunate with regards to my family and others being supportive and taking what I do seriously. Looking back, I could be really selfish and headstrong about music. My family got so used to it that they would volunteer to schedule dinners and family events around rehearsals and practice because they were able to glean how important this was to me and how seriously I took it. Even moving out into the real world with the professional realm of things and the jobs that we have had in order to keep this going, I’d say it’s taken more seriously now than ever. We’re constantly challenging ourselves to progress and carve our own path. WITHERED is a permanent part of my life, it’s what I expect to be there. I’ve built so much on it and I’ve somehow been able to weave it into my life to where it’s a defining part of me as well. This isn’t rock star fantasy camp, although the other weekend I was bored, missing travelling and sitting around so I took the band van out and just drove out for three hours, turned around and came home!”

NYTT LAND to Release Shamanic Dark Folk Experience, “Ritual”

Russian Nordic Folk Project NYTT LAND Announces New Full-Length, Ritual

Pre-Order Starts NOW!

First Single and Music Video for Title Track Out Now

Just recently signed with Napalm Records, Russian Nordic folk and ambient project NYTT LAND offer a dark, otherworldly experience with their new seventh studio album, Ritual, out August 6 via Napalm Records.

This eight-song rarity tell tales of gods and heroes, born centuries ago and preserved in traditions, expressed in a unique sonic experience that can best be described by the duo itself as shamanic dark folk. On Ritual, NYTT LAND effortlessly pulls listeners into a world of ancient percussive instrumentation and vocal tradition. Thematically, their work echoes many stories from Norse mythology and historic texts such as the Poetic Edda.

To enter the Ritual, NYTT LAND has unveiled their captivating musical forces through the record's title track today. Haunting percussive instrumentation and unique, meditative vocal chants display their shamanic dark folk in its full splendor. The song comes along with a hypnotizing music video that emphasizes the unique atmosphere of this sonic adventure with a mesmerizing journey through the dark and brooding woods of Siberia.

NYTT LAND state:

"All our songs are, first of all, our personal experience, how we perceive reality around us. Ritual is the release of inner, primal energy through music, words, dances and images. This is what the world and the universe was born into. And we want to share our part of this energy with you."

Watch the entrancing music video for “Ritual“

NYTT LAND about the video:

“The destinies of people and gods spin like threads. They are intertwining with each other in patterns and each of them is unique. The women who spin them are silent and in the hands of each of them is the thread of someone's life. To some they give good luck in battle and victory in war, and to others death. And only they decide which thread to twist further, creating the main drawing of the great canvas of life, and which one will break off with a thin nap.”

Pre-Order the album NOW

Prepare for the Ritual and be entranced by NYTT LAND’s Shamanic dark folk!

NYTT LAND’s ancient shamanic culture is palpable on songs like “U-Gra” – based on the legend of the Siberian native tribe known as Khanty. It tells the story of the guardian spirits of the tribe’s homeland as somber ritual chants at the start of the song ask the spirits to be kind to their people and help them retain their lands. An atmospheric, meditative journey accompanied by an enthralling percussive section accents the unmatched, unique throat singing layers of NYTT LAND vocalists Natasha “Baba Yaga” Pakhalenko and Anatoly “Shaman” Pakhalenko. “Svartravn” seamlessly continues this vibe while introducing melancholic string sections, telling the story of a warrior dying on the battlefield with a crow circling him, awaiting his coup de grace. The dying warrior tells the crow about his worthy life and the deeds that he performed, and that he is not afraid of death, asking the raven to take the news of his death to his family. Underlying themes on Ritual become apparent in NYTT LAND’s artistic entity, pulled together by mysterious, haunting visuals while still welcoming the listener into their spiritual world. Songs like “Dead Man’s Dance” and “Blood Of The North” showcase the Nordic folk-driven roots of NYTT LAND, while the duo takes the genre to new levels on “The Fires of Ragnarok”.

Ritual is a previously uncharted display of intense, dark folk music inspired by NYTT LAND’s unique, authentic and ancient Siberian culture. If bands like Wardruna, Heilung or Runahild ensnare your senses, then you must prepare for this Ritual!

NYTT LAND on the record:

"Our new album is a big story, a long way - from the harsh, snowy fjords of ancient Scandinavia - to the endless expanses of the great Siberian taiga. Having chosen life in a small Siberian village, we are inspired by nature, its eternal, primordial life force. And this inspiration finds expression in our music."

ABOUT MINISTRY

Born in 1981 in Chicago, Ministry has been the lifetime passion project of founder Al Jourgensen, considered to be the pioneer of industrial music. In its early days, Ministry was identifiable by its heavy synth-pop material in line with the new sounds and technology that were being developed in the ‘80s. Ministry’s output began with four 12” singles on Wax Trax! Records in 1981 before the first LP With Sympathy in 1983 via Arista Records. As time progressed however, so did Ministry, quickly developing a harsher, and more stylized sound that the band soon became infamous for on seminal albums Twitch (1986), The Land of Rape and Honey (1988), and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste (1989). With the release of Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and The Way to Suck Eggs (1992), Ministry hit an all time high in the mainstream musical realm and received its first Grammy nomination. In total, Ministry has been nominated for a Grammy award six times. Eight more albums would follow before an indefinite break in 2013, only to be unearthed again in 2018 with AmeriKKKant, continuing to reflect Jourgensen’s views on the frightening state of society and politics. Today, Ministry continues touring and recording with new music on the way in 2021.
