Often symbolized by a stream that flows into the earth, riding the rapids one can unravel mysteries, deep within the layers of consciousness. Repentance delivers a very brutal yet modern sound in these dark times that almost paints a soundtrack of our world. "God For A Day"

Provided to YouTube by Ingrooves God For A Day · Repentance God For A Day ℗ 2020 Art Is War Records Released on: 2020-08-07 Composer, Writer: Kanky Lora Comp...

Metal band Repentance has released their new single "God For A Day" off of their debut album also titled God For A Day due out September 25th via Art is War Records/Intercept Music.

Repentance came together in 2018 when Shaun Glass, a veteran guitarist of Broken Hope and Dirge Within, recruited Mike Sylvester on bass and began songwriting with lead guitarist Markus Johansson of the group Them. Robb Rivera of Nonpoint introduced Stuck Mojo front-man Robby J. Fonts and from there... Repentance was born.

“It came together very naturally, which was a very cleansing experience,” states Glass. “At this point in my life, I was hoping to start working and creating new music with an almost entirely new group of people and this crew organically locked into place.”

“It’s crazy how things happen,” comments Fonts. “I was looking to start a new band since Rich [Ward] and Frank [Fontsere] are currently busy outside of Stuck Mojo [touring with FOZZY], so the timing for Repentance came perfectly. One phone call later, we were stoked to get this show on the road. Shaun sent me demos, I wrote lyrics and vocals and our songs started coming
together quickly.”

The band made their live stage debut by opening up for Trivium. Within their short time
together the band would go on to share the stage with Devildriver, Jinjer, Skull Fist, Toxic Holocaust and Sacred Reich.

In October 2018 the band released their debut single, “Enter the Gallows" and by the end of the year, Kanky Lora, of Soulfly and Straight Line Stitch fame, would join the band on drums, thus solidifying this powerhouse line-up.

“The band’s sound is definitely very aggressive, pummeling metal and we can’t wait to share some music with everyone soon,” adds Glass. “Everyone is bringing their own style to the table and the uniqueness of each is helping to shape our sound. We’re creating a style that we enjoy ourselves first and foremost.”

In 2019, the band signed with Art is War Records and released the single, “Only the Damned Die Young” which was recorded at Electroworks Recording with Chuck Macack (Born of Osiris / Oceano) as well as mixed and mastered by engineer Chris Collier (Prong / Whitesnake).

“You know you’re onto something special when everyone connects instantly and the creativity keeps on flowing,” says Fonts. “I think fans of our previous work will be in for a pleasant surprise.”

Bringing the best of classic American thrash with elements of European-styled melodic death metal and a tinge of modern hardcore. This eclectic group of seasoned musicians is providing a straight punch to the face for your metal fix with their unrelenting brutality of Midwestern American metal.

Leaving no room for nonsense, the band brings forth their exhilarating brand of heaviness led by visceral guitar riffs and hard-hitting attitude, which is sure to obliterate fans of extreme music everywhere.

When talking about the bands debut album they said "We think we really captured true ENERGY!! The songs fly by but are so aggressive and energetic that We hope it makes the listener crave repeat playbacks."

PAINTED DOLL to Release New Album “How to Draw Fire” September 25th via Tee Pee Records

PAINTED DOLL - HOW TO DRAW FIRE Out September 25th, 2020 Pre-order the purple vinyl, download or stream it, here: https://orcd.co/howtodrawfire In the decade...

Lyric Video For First Single “When I Left Home” Streaming Now

Pre-Orders Available HERE

In the decades and even centuries to come, the year 2020 will be remembered for many things, most of them seriously negative. But even in this absolute fucker of a year, goodness still prevails. Part of that goodness is "How to Draw Fire," the brand new album from Painted Doll, the unlikely duo consisting of death metal legend Chris Reifert (AutopsyDeathViolation WoundAbscess) and musician/comedian Dave Hill(Valley LodgeWitch Taint).

"How to Draw Fire" is the band’s second album and on it Chris and Dave push their patented blend of psych/prog/proto-punk/rock/power pop and whatever else even further over the course of a dozen songs. Pop hooks are bigger, the scary parts are scarier, and the psych parts are so psychedelic some people may very well require medical attention just to come down from it all.

How to Draw Fire will be released September 25 via Tee Pee Records.

Pre-orders are available HERE

Chris and Dave met way back in 2015, a simpler time to be sure, but also a crazy time in that Dave somehow found himself at the Housecore Horror and Film Festival in San Antonio, Texas playing guitar for muscle metal legend Thor for one magical evening. Chris’ band Autopsy was also playing at the festival and Dave decided to swing by the show to see what all the death metal fuss was about. Afterward, the two got to chatting and decided to see Goblin together later that night. And whenever Dave found himself in Los Angeles in the months that followed, he and Chris would get to jamming on songs inspired by their shared love of sixties and seventies psych music, which eventually resulted in their critically-acclaimed self-titled debut album, released by Tee Pee Records in 2017. Live shows on the east and west coast, featuring an expanded lineup that included the band’s producer Tom Beaujour (Nada Surf, Julian Hatfield, the Virgins, Guided by Voices) on guitar and bass player Erika Osterhout (Chtonic Deity, Necrosic, Scolex), followed, including a handful of dates opening up for Monster Magnet, which is awesome.

For "How to Draw Fire," Chris and Dave decided to mix things up and get together in Autopsy’s rehearsal room in Oakland, which hasn’t been vacuumed since the eighties at least, before eventually heading into Kaleidoscope Sound in New Jersey with Tom Beaujour once again. The result is twelve brand new Painted Doll songs that will remind you not only that hope springs eternal, but that everything sounds better with a little tambourine on it too.

"How to Draw Fire" will be unleashed on an unsuspecting public September 25 via Tee Pee Records. It is the best album and if you end up not agreeing, you can kick Chris and Dave in the nuts.  Order the album HERE.

LISTEN: Hunter Gatherer

WATCH: "Colossus" (Official Music Video)

August 7, 2020 - The highly anticipated eighth full-length album from AVATAR titled Hunter Gatherer arrived today via Entertainment One (eOne), marking their darkest and most insightful record of their near decade long career. The band has celebrated the monumental release by sharing new lyric videos for select songs from the album, including highlights such as “A Secret Door” which features Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), and the dizzyingly heavy album closer “Wormhole”. These new visuals follow the previously released tracks “Colossus”“God of Sick Dreams”, and “Silence in the Age of Apes” - the latter of which is already named one of the best metal songs of the year so far by Loudwire - that revealed the band’s new wardrobes and unrelenting yet immersive new ideas piece by piece.

A striking and bold manifesto, Hunter Gatherer, is an unflinchingly ruthless study of a clueless humankind’s ever-increasing velocity into an uncertain future, furthering the reach of the band’s always expanding dark roots. Recorded entirely to two-inch tape with producer Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Anthrax), Hunter Gatherer exhibits everything that makes AVATAR standouts in the vast, rich landscape of heavy metal's past and present. Hunter Gatherer is out now through Entertainment One (eOne) and available here.

CARNATION Shares New Song, "Iron Discipline"

Carnation's official music video for 'Iron Discipline', taken from the band's upcoming new album 'Where Death Lies'! The death metal overlords' second full l...

The Belgian death metal stalwarts of CARNATION are now premiering their latest single, "Iron Discipline," which is taken from the bands upcoming full length 'Where Death Lies.' The record is due on September 18

Frontman Simon Duson comments: " "With 'Iron Discipline,' we unleash our second creation from the upcoming 'Where Death Lies' full-length. 'Iron Discipline' is the opening track of the album, and it takes you straight into the action. It showcases some of the most groove-oriented parts on the record, culminating into a piece that is bursting with power and heaviness. Older fans of the band should definitely find what they are looking for on this track.'Where Death Lies' in its entirety contains quite some variance. It is the result of our effort to write a balanced record with elements that both defined and refined Carnation. We hope this second step towards the release has peaked your interest even more."

Pre-orders for 'Where Death Lies' are now available in various formats HERE.

Embrace the new death metal overlords and their second full length 'Where Death Lies'! CARNATION equals blistering and crushing death metal madness and, with this new chapter, return with relentless destruction and greater punishment than ever before.

Early 2013, guitar player Jonathan Verstrepen created the band to show his appreciation for the old school death metal legends from the ‘80s & early ‘90s. Vocalist Simon Duson, bass player Yarne Heylen, guitar player Bert Vervoort, and drummer Vincent Verstrepen were summoned to complete the band, and it didn’t take long until the chemistry between this quintet hit critical mass.

The Belgian’s first EP offering, entitled 'Cemetery of the Insane', was released upon the masses in 2015 . Tracks such as "Explosive Cadavers" or "The Rituals of Flesh" take you back in time to the better days of shredding riffs, neck-breaking drums, and skull-crushing guttural vocals.

The live rituals that followed were executed with stone cold merciless aggression. CARNATION delivered their bloodbath at select festivals across Europe during 2015 and 2016. Their next journey led them to distant Asia for their first tour across mainland Japan. This resulted in the infamous 'Live at Asakusa Deathfest' album, which saw the light in (2017).

These releases, combined with their reputation as a notoriously impressive live act, drew the attention of fans worldwide and provided CARNATION with the opportunity to perform at several European festivals and saw the band touring alongside PESTILENCE during their special Brazilian tour in April 2018. After signing with Season of Mist in 2018, CARNATION welcomed new and loyal audiences to death’s domain and invited them to witness them rise to their throne!

CARNATION rage on in 2019 with more spectacular live shows at 70.000 Tons of Metal, Alcatraz (BE) and Damnation Festival (UK), as part of their touring rampage throughout Japan and Europe (with PUNGENT STENCH and DESERTED FEAR), before entering the studio for the recordings of a brand new album. The mastering for the new offering was done by the mighty Jens Bogren (SEPULTURA, ENSLAVED, ARCH ENEMY) at the Fascination Street Studios in Örebro (SE).

With ‘Where Death Lies’ a new chapter of abhorrence now begins and opens up a hellish path to resurrection, reincarnation, and immortality. You wanted death? CARNATION is here with a superior appearance performing new rituals in service of ancient deities. All hail the new death metal overlords!

Portland’s The Loyal Order have released their self-titled debut album via EMP Label Group/Von Artists/Bühner Media

Official Music Video for the song "Hellfire" by The Loyal Order Written by: Buehner/Cook Directed by: Rob Daiker Official Webpage: https://www.theloyalorder....

featuring cover art from Melody Myers (Ellefson, Escape The Fate, Altitudes and Attitudes) available now on all digital outlets. The band has released a video for their second single “Hellfire”, released simultaneously with the album July 17th, which became Foundations #1 Greatest Gainer (with Metallica at #2). In week 2 it gained entrance into Billboard’s TOP 40 Mainstream Rock Indicator Chart and Foundation’s Top 50 in week 2 and continues to climb. The video currently sits at over 350,000 views.

TLO released their debut single "READY FOR DEAD" in 2019, with a video that has now received over a million views. With the expertise of Thom Hazaert (EMP Label Group) at the helm, “Ready For Dead” found a home in the Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator Chart rising for over 10 weeks peaking just outside the top 20, and at #12 on Foundation’s Top 50.

The Loyal Order hatched as a studio project several years ago when vocalist Jeff Buehner was approached to write a theme song for a regional outdoor hunting show. He reached out to guitarist Brandon Cook (Black ‘N Blue) for a heavy riff, and the result was a song called SUPERHUMAN produced by Portland’s Kevin Hahn. It aired regionally in the Pacific NW for two seasons. From this, the songwriting partnership between Buehner and Cook began to flow. They soon approached Producer Rob Daiker at The Commune in Portland, Oregon, who has crafted major label releases with Slowrush, The Dan Reed Network, and Royal Bliss.

Rounding out the lineup is Justin Gibson on guitar, Patrick Young (Black ‘N Blue) on bass, and Kyle Baltus (36 Crazyfists, Light the Torch) on the drums. All prominent Pacific NW rock players that have made names for themselves locally and nationally.

The Loyal Order’s debut show was with Puddle of Mudd to a sold out audience at The Bossa Nova Ballroom in 2019, and. Buehner and Cook have been featured in publications such as Sleazerock, The Decibel Report, Metal Talk, KNAC, The Hard Heavy and Hair Show, Bionic Buzz and others.

“If there is any justice in the music world (which we fear there is none) but if there is, this should be HUGE and fingers crossed they make it over here to treat us to seeing these superb songs performed live on a big stage where they belong! A corker of a debut album, it’s big, it’s meaty and there is real substance here. All in all this is the best thing I’ve heard this year, serious album of the year contender, and I’m so excited I’ll be making everyone listen to it, on repeat, forever.”
~Tina C from MMH The Home of Rock Radio UK

.......the album kicks off is surprisingly forthright style with a mid-paced LA style rocker Ready for Dead with a strong likeness to Velvet Revolver or a polite Brides Of Destruction vibe. Jeff Buehner has a great voice and is tunefully on point throughout with a bit of a roughed-up edge in places. He opens up, soars and shines on tracks like the standout Colorblind propped up with some very complimentary backing vocals. There’s a nod to Alice In Chains, Soundgarden and Creed in tracks like Half Life and The River and a very Buckcherry Fuck Or Fight, plus another standout in the raunch and roll of the Blackstone Cherry-esque Superhuman.

“Distorted mind is full of lies. But all these shapes are so mesmerizing. I was drowning more and more into my irrational fictional world. Devil and God were there as different shapes of reality. Everyone goes through their agony. I went through mine in the ‘Room 57’.” - Lead Singer Dima Flo

With their latest EP XXXXX, released via Napalm Records earlier this year, modern metal sensation SPACE OF VARIATIONS have proven that they are no longer an underground band and won’t fly under the radar. Today, the Ukrainian powerhouse takes it one step further and showcases their new animated work for the XXXXX EP track “Room 57”.

With their newest offering, SPACE OF VARIATIONS underlines the pure passion for their sonically-palpable creativity and artful audio-visuals. Filming and directing most of their own videos wasn’t enough – the cartoon-inspired music video is made from more than three thousand images hand-painted by guitarist/vocalist Alex, with post-production by drummer Tima, himself. “Room 57” offers an artistic place of expression for the characters of their own universe.

SPACE OF VARIATIONS on “Room 57”:

“During these hard times when it seems the whole world is going crazy, we as a band have found ourselves in not the best position. Tours and festivals got canceled. We could not even shoot a video without violating quarantine. Then we remembered the old idea of creating a hand-drawn animation. We started looking for someone to bring our ideas to life. Yet, it did not take long to realize that we were the ones to do it best. Our guitarist/vocalist Alex took on the whole animation part, while our drummer Tima was all about post-production. The truth was born in meetings and discussions."

The music video itself mirrors a whole enigma filled with metaphors, elaborate images and symbolism. Fall into a rabbit hole with SPACE OF VARIATIONS and meet them behind closed doors.

SÓLSTAFIR Reveals New Album Details, Live Streams New Single

SÓLSTAFIR's new opus 'Endless Twilight of Codependent Love' highlights the contrasting influences that have inspired the band over the years. The Icelandic p...

Iceland rock giants SÓLSTAFIR will be releasing their seventh studio album, 'Endless Twilight of Codependent Love,' on November 6 via Season of Mist! The cover artwork and tracklist can be found below. In conjunction with this announcement, the band will be live streaming the explosive first single, "Akkeri," via the official Season of Mist

The band has also previously released a teaser for the new record, which can be streamed HERE

'Endless Twilight of Codependent Love' was recorded at the Sundlaugin Studio (Iceland), where 'Svartir Sandar,' 'Ótta' and 'Berdreyminn' were also recorded by producer Birgir Jón Birgisson (Sigur Rós, Alcest, Damien Rice).

Pre-order 'Endless Twilight of Codependent Love' HERE.

A quarter of a century after singer/guitarist Aðalbjörn "Addi" Tryggvason co-founded atmospheric Icelandic metal quartet Sólstafir, they continue to follow their cardinal rule – that there are no rules. For them, writing an epic 10-minute song without a traditional verse/chorus trade-off feels natural. While they have done two albums in English, he mainly sings in their native tongue and his vocals are as much an instrument as a vessel for words. Their videos equally showcase the band and their Icelandic world that they commune with.
And their music flows however it pleases. “Having been a metal band for a long time and gone through shoegaze, atmospheric black metal, and post rock, I just feel privileged being able to mix all my favorite genres and get away with it,” says Tryggvason.

In the world of Sólstafir, artists as varied as The Beatles, Kraftwerk, Darkthrone, Ennio Morricone, and Billy Corgan swirl inside their heads, and such influences seep into their musical ether. Funnily enough, the cover for the group’s latest album Endless Twilight of Codependent Love might remind one of a famous Smashing Pumpkins album cover.

Painted in watercolor by Johann Baptist Zwecker in 1864, The Lady of the Mountain is the female personification of Iceland. It was first published in a book of Icelandic folk tales but was never shown in public. A black and white woodblock replica by the artist is what Icelanders have known until recently when two citizens found the original hidden in a Welsh museum gallery where it had been in storage for a century. Now it is back home and adorning the cover of the new Sólstafir album.

“Everybody knows the image of the Lady of the Mountain,” declares Tryggvason. “It's like Marianne to the French and Minerva in Greek mythology. All of a sudden, the original pops up and it’s like, ‘Oh my god, these are the most beautiful colors I've ever seen. And why does it remind me of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness?’ So that's purely accidental. When we saw this photo, we had to use it. It's too beautiful.”
While early Sólstafir lyrics delved into Nordic mythology and critiques of organized religion, more recent songs explore their spiritual connection with nature, and lately, mental disorders ranging from depression to alcoholism and the taboo behind men in particular discussing those things for fear of being perceived weak.

“That’s the real darkness that you can't see, but you can feel it and people around you can feel it,” explains Tryggvason. “Of course, there are serial killers and plagues and whatever through history. But in modern day life, that's the true darkness around you. People kill themselves every day, and often people close to you who have been feeling so bad.”

The frontman says that band members have each had their personal struggles to deal with. They collectively became sober back in 2013. “Anyone in this band can talk about his depression or their state of mind during the day,” says Tryggvason. “It's an open, free dialogue in this band, so it's very healthy.

He says the most personal song on Endless Twilight of Codependent Love is “Her Fall From Grace,” the lone track in English. It chronicles the pain of watching a loved one succumb to mental illness.
“It's very sad when you love someone and you see them get sick,” muses Tryggvason. “Like Layne Staley said, ‘Slow suicide is no way to go.’ But you’re just watching on the audience bench, preparing for the phone call. ‘Hey man, Johnny's dead.’ ‘All right, I knew Johnny was gonna die. I've been watching him in slow motion.’” He likens the experience to seeing a relative or parent be consumed by Alzheimer’s and turn into a different person than one remembers.

Although the band’s lyrics are predominately in Icelandic, that does not prevent outside listeners from appreciating the emotional power of their music. It has been said that many fans can feel his pain even if they do not overtly understand what he is singing about.

A beautiful moment in that regard occurred when Sólstafir played Bogota, Colombia in September 2017. It was the smallest show on their South American tour, and they presumed it would not be as lively. The 300 strong throng proved them wrong. “It felt like I was in Queen at Wembley Stadium,” Tryggvason recollects fondly. “They sang every goddamn word in Icelandic. How can you explain that?”

Such passionate reactions have not gone unnoticed in their homeland. Iceland picked Sólstafir to play a total of six events New York City, Seattle, and Toronto last fall called “Taste Of Iceland.” Tryggvason says the band enjoyed the event and their intimate industry showcases at Pianos (NYC) and Livenation (Toronto) during that same trip.

Counter-intuitive thinking has helped Sólstafir evolve and mature. The new track “Or” opens with a languid, bluesy feeling but gradually transforms into an angst-ridden, guitar-driven dirge. When they conjured their breakthrough song “Fjara” in 2011, the group feared its mellow nature might put off their longtime metal followers. Instead, they embraced it. That tune, along with the ambient, banjo-laden track “Ótta,” allowed the group to play both the Brutal Assault festival in the Czech Republic five years ago and then a family-friendly music event in the Netherlands the next weekend. The new rager “Dionysus” even features a return to their black metal roots that was not planned; the song just turned out that way over a year-long span.

“Our audience grew bigger and more diverse by us just being ourselves and doing nothing different really,” notes Tryggvason.

One of the joys for him and his bandmates – bassist Svavar "Svabbi" Austmann, guitarist Sæþór Maríus "Pjúddi" Sæþórsson, and newer drummer Hallgrímur Jón "Grimsi" Hallgrímsson, who contributed some lyrics this time out – is that their perception of how their new music will turn out never corresponds with reality. It is that unknown factor that keeps things exciting.

You can never foresee band magic,” declares Tryggvason. “The whole purpose of this is cooking up magic. And if you're cooking up magic with four or five weirdos, you can never foresee what's going to happen. You can't buy that. You have to live it or grow it.”

FEUERSCHWANZ Releases Official Music Video For "Malleus Maleficarum"

German medieval rock masters FEUERSCHWANZ have released the official music video for their song "Malleus Maleficarum". The song comes off their brand new album Das Elfte Gebot which was released on June 26 and landed at #3 on the official German album charts.

Commented the band: "The Witch Hammer (lat. Malleus Maleficarum) is a pamphlet to legitimize the witch hunt and was released by Dominican Heinrich Kramer in 1486. He tried to cement his misogyny religiously and called everyone opposed to the witch hunt heretics!

With heavy Black Sabbath- or Dio-esque riffs, medieval bagpipes and hurdy gurdies as well as monks' choirs in the vein of Ghost we show you a bleak world of medieval fake news! The high castle is set ablaze as our kitties won't be oppressed!"

The band recently released the live music video for „Metfest“ (Stream/Watch) as well as the music video for the title track (Stream/Watch) and the Ed Sheeran cover of "I See Fire" (Stream/Watch). the Seeed cover "Ding" (Stream the single here / View the video here) the Powerwolf cover "Amen & Attack" (Stream the single here / View the video here) and "Meister der Minne"

VENOMOUS CONCEPT Debuts New Song, "Simian Flu"

Grindcore veterans VENOMOUS CONCEPT return with another full frontal assault. 'Politics Versus The Erection' breathes a true grind punk spirit. Release date:...

Grindcore / hardcore punk veterans VENOMOUS CONCEPT (featuring band members of BRUTAL TRUTH and NAPALM DEATH) will be releasing their topical fourth full-length, 'Politics Versus The Erection' on August 28, 2020! The band is now sharing "Simian Flu," the third new single from the offering. "Simian Flu"

'Politics Versus The Erection' can be pre-ordered HERE.

If the state of today’s society is reflected in music, hardcore punk / grindcore veterans VENOMOUS CONCEPT have returned to the stage with a fitting soundtrack. The band’s fourth full-length frontal assault, ‘Politics Versus The Erection’ manifests a no-nonsense and outspoken voice, resonating with the chaos that reigns over the world today.

Starting out in 2004, the band was conceived as something like a grind punk supergroup - if that term can even be applied to a bunch of people with clear counterculture preferences. The name was chosen to pay homage to the legendary POISON IDEA.

At the core of VENOMOUS CONCEPT you will find BRUTAL TRUTH vocalist Kevin Sharp and Shane Embury, the iconic bass player of NAPALM DEATH. The two musicians had bonded over beer and pizza as well as their mutual love of punk heroes such as BLACK FLAG, SYSTEMATIC DEATH, GBH, SIEGE, and of course POISON IDEA.

The duo soon set about plotting its own assault on the style. Armed with bucketloads of coffee, the pair roped in Danny Herrera of NAPALM DEATH on drums, as well as MELVINS guitarist Buzz Osborne. A record deal was signed with Mike Patton and VENOMOUS CONCEPT's first album, 'Retroactive Abortion' (2004) was followed by a split-CD with Japanese grind band 324 (2006) and another in 2008 with BLÖOD DÜSTER.

Buzz Osborne eventually went on a hiatus, but he never really left and there is always a chance for his return - schedules permitting. Shane switched to guitar when longtime friend Dan Lilker (BRUTAL TRUTH, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, ex-ANTHRAX) joined on bass. Next, VENOMOUS CONCEPT brought in John Cooke of CORRUPT MORAL ALTAR on second guitar for touring. Sophomore full-length 'Poisoned Apple' hit the stores in 2008.

A quiet spell followed, but the band returned fully charged and ready for attack with their third record 'Kick Me Silly - VC III' in 2016, which saw VENOMOUSCONCEPT continue in their trademark grindcore punk style. Following a European tour with BRUJERIA in 2019 and several festivals shows, the musicians headed back into the studio to write and record their fourth album.

With over 30 minutes of short, sharp musical blasts, venomous lyrics, satirical animations, and by offering their candid views, VENOMOUS CONCEPT have again created a record that breathes a true hardcore punk spirit.

Line-up
Kevin Sharp - Vocals
Shane Embury - Bass
John Cooke - Guitar
Danny Herrera - Drums

Style: Grindcore / hardcore punk

THE DEVIL'S TRADE Releases New Song, "The Call of the Iron Peak"

Taken from THE DEVIL'S TRADE upcoming full length 'The Call of the Iron Peak'. Release date: 28th August, 2020. ►Order here: https://redirect.season-of-mist....

Dark singer-songwriter act THE DEVIL'S TRADE has shared the title track from the band's upcoming record, 'The Call of the Iron Peak,' due on August 28.

Frontman Dávid Makó comments on the track: "The concept of this song and the whole album came at 2000ms high in the Alps heading to a peak that was shining like it was iron. When I reached the peak the whole world around and in me went dead silent. Perfect peace and freedom like it was the afterlife. That silence I have been looking for since then."

'The Call of the Iron Peak' can be pre-ordered HERE.

Listen to the call of the Iron Peak. It is calling for you to find your true self in a world you want to be isolated from. It is calling for you to make peace with yourself, with the inevitable end. It is calling for Hungarian singer-songwriter Dávid Makó, who redefined himself as The Devil’s Trade a few years ago, embarking on a long journey with his deeply personal and dark, sometimes doom infused folk songs.

Be it the folk of the Appalachians or the tales of Hungarian and Transylvanian traditionals, The Devil’s Trade fuses his past of metal and his roots laying deep in the folk songs of his immediate surroundings.

Very much like how the Iron Peak, a mountaintop both metaphorical and literal is calling for Makó, he is calling for you to share his rituals of loves and hopes lost and found along the pilgrimage of his. It is after all, the journey itself that matters the most, and how you adapt. From basements in his hometown of Budapest, to all corners of Europe, stages small and big, The Devil’s Trade has been relentlessly walking on his path finding his voice and calling, and that is to let listeners to glimpse into himself through his heart wrenching songs.

His new album, and his debut for Season of Mist, titled ‘The Call of the Iron Peak’ is to be released August 28, 2020.

John Oates & The Good Road Band ‘Live In Nashville’ Set For September 18th Release

"Live In Nashville" - Out September 18 www.johnoates.com Anytime you're feelin' lonely Anytime you're feelin' blue Anytime you feel down-hearted That will pr...

Four new originals along with covers of Mississippi John Hurt, Jimmy Rogers, Don Gibson highlight second Thirty Tigers album

LOS ANGELES, July 31, 2020—Rock & Roll Hall of Famer John Oates has had a home in Nashville for more than a decade, performing with some of the city’s most sought-after musicians. John’s Thirty Tigers debut, Arkansas, performed with The Good Road Band, was released in 2018, proving a critical and commercial success in the Americana and roots community, a combination of originals with classic songs popularized by Mississippi John Hurt, Jimmy Rodgers and Don Gibson.

After two-plus solid years of honing their chops through touring, that group – mandolin stalwart Sam Bush, pedal steel maestro Russ Pahl (Dan Auerbach), electric guitar whiz Guthrie Trapp, expert bassist Steve Mackay, cello prodigy Nate Smith (Kacey Musgraves) and drummer/percussionist extraordinaire Josh “Daddy” Day – returns intact for Live In Nashville, set for release on September 18 on all major digital streaming platforms. The set was recorded last January 9 at Station Inn, the legendary intimate listening room in The Gulch section of Nashville where the band first took shape.

“This album represents a full-circle moment for me,” said John, in quarantine with his family in his adopted Music City home. “It feels like the culmination of the Arkansas project, being able to bring these guys back, and to be able to make this record after touring and playing so many shows together.”

Inspired by Mississippi John Hurt, Live in Nashville features songs like the gospel-blues opener, “Lord Send Me,” the Delta blues of the standard “Stack o Lee” and an electrified take on “Make Me a Pallet on Your Floor,” dubbed “Pallet Soft and Low,” where John manages to show off some of his well-honed rock guitar skills. In yet another “full circle moment,” John pays tribute to his own childhood with a cover of Don Gibson’s “Oh Lonesome Me,” the first song he learned to sing and play on guitar as a six-year-old after hearing it on the radio. Several of the songs come with Oates’ own stories about the songs, connecting the dots as to their connections, including popular hits of the era like the Mississippi Sheiks’ 1930 success, “Sittin’ on Top of the World,” Emmett Miller’s 1924 breakthrough, “Anytime” and Jimmy Rogers’ 1932 classic, “Miss the Mississippi and You.”

“I was always fascinated by this rural Americana Appalachian music, which opened the door for me to John Lee Hooker and other blues artists long before the British Invasion turned kids on to them. I always preferred the originals myself.”

Live in Nashville traces how country, blues and gospel bubbled up from Mississippi and New Orleans and landed in northern urban cities like Chicago, St. Louis, and New York. John describes the sound as, “Dixieland, dipped in bluegrass, and salted with Delta blues.”

“Something magical happened,” said John about his first time playing with The Good Road Band in the studio. “The thing you pray for, but so rarely achieve. My producer just said, ‘I don’t know what this is, John, but keep doing it because it’s cool.’”

Live in Nashville shows what they are capable of on any given night, and in lieu of being able to see them in concert, this is the next best thing.

“This experience has made me a better player,” said John referring to what he's learned with his work in Daryl Hall and John Oates. “Playing with this caliber of musicians has really elevated my game and my ability to play guitar. As a musician, it helps me articulate what I need to do in a better way. I’m an improved singer, my vocal chops are stronger. For Daryl and I, our writing styles are totally predicated on how good we are as singers and musicians. I’ve been working my ass off. There’s nothing like touring to keep you sharp.”

Live in Nashville offers concrete proof of that.

THE ATOMIC BITCHWAX Premiere Video For "You Got It"

New Album 'Scorpio' Out August 28th via Tee Pee Records

New Jersey-based rock n' roll trio THE ATOMIC BITCHWAX are set to release their new studio album, 'Scorpio', August 28th release via Tee Pee Records. The group, which originally formed in the mid-90s, consists of lead vocalist/bassist Chris Kosnik, drummer Bob Pantella, and guitarist Garrett Sweeny, all of whom are past or present members of the band Monster MagnetScorpio is the follow up to the group's 2017 full-length 'Force Field', and their eighth studio LP overall spanning more than two decades.

Today the band releases their video for the second single from the album "You Got It."

Pre-order 'Scorpio' HERE.

The scourge and scorch of New Jersey returns, and their sting is deadly as ever. Garden State riff rock stalwarts The Atomic Bitchwax proudly present their eighth full-length, Scorpio.

In a busy three years since NJ’s most powerful power trio issued 2017’s Force Field, they’ve toured the US and Europe multiple times over, taken part in fests far and wide, and blown past the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.

Scorpio acknowledges the two-decades milestone in its opening revamp of the first song the band ever wrote with vocals, “Hope You Die,” the crash-in of which will be immediately familiar to anyone who’s seen them live. A generation later, it still gets the message across.

From then on, it’s all-go on nine fresh-made burners, founding bassist/vocalist Chris Kosnik, guitarist Garrett Sweeny, and drummer Bob Pantella toying with tempo subtly to lace songs like “Betting Man” and “Easy Action” and “Energy” with signature-style memorable hooks amid instrumentals “Ninja,” “Crash” and “Instant Death,” the head-spinning turns of which push ahead in the aggressive stance The Bitchwax began to present in 2015’s Gravitron while still remaining imbued with new character and the loyalty to classic heavy rock that underlies all their work.

Tracked in Jan. 2020 at Sound Spa in Edison, NJ, with Stephen DeAcutis engineering, Scorpio is a righteous next stage of the momentum The Atomic Bitchwax have been building through hard touring and release after release of gauntlet-throwing-down rock and roll. This is a band that never stops moving, and only ever moves forward.

Garage Rock duo, THE DODIES, have released their imaginative new animated video for single "Alien" off of their debut album It’s One Hell of a Ride.

It's One Hell of a Ride Stream/Download link: smarturl.it/TheDodiesIOHOAR

"I wrote Alien when I was a patient in one of southern Israel’s psychiatric departments. I would often refer to myself as an alien that speaks a different language and has a different understanding of things than humans do. I wrote the song in accordance with how I felt whether it was a “wrong” way of thinking or not. It was my truth and I wanted to stick to it with a sort of ‘fuck you, I’m depressed’ attitude. Although the lyrics are harsh and the instrumentation is aggressive, I did my best to keep the song melodic" says Yoni.

He adds, "The day Bumblefoot first pushed us to make an animated video I thought “Uh fuck, no way that’s gonna happen. I don’t even know any animators I can trust”. I felt bummed out about it, and I was also nervous because that same day I was trying to plan my girlfriend's surprise birthday party. I had no idea what to buy her so I went over to my parent’s apartment to ask my Mom for help. She just happened to be in the right position to see an old drawing notebook that was covered under a pile of old novels, my dad bought it for me In high school but I never used it, she said “why don’t you just draw her a portrait?” that’s when I knew I was going to be the animator for the video. I rushed over to one of the only “art shops” in our town in southern Israel. I was their last customer before the two-month shutdown, a lucky break. My girlfriend and I started developing the ideas for the video right after the shutdown started; we were convinced it would take a couple of weeks at first (lol), but it just kept developing. We began drawing and painting for hours almost every day, it nearly pushed our relationship to the brink, but she believes in the band and she’s a great artist. She did way more than she had to. So did our cameraman friend Eden Zemer. He could’ve taken a shitload of money for all the weeks he spent editing this, but he grew up with us and he always believed in what we did. The process ended up taking more than four months."

Ran adds, "The last few months' unfortunate events have given us a lot of unexpected free time. So we decided to use that time and make something we had never attempted before - making an animated music video. At first, the song Alien may sound intense for the cartoons we created. But the more you watch the video, the more you realize it fits the song perfectly. Thanks to all the nuances we worked on for months, the final result accurately captures what The Dodies are all about. This is, without a doubt, the most ambitious video we have made."

THE DODIES are a young garage rock duo from the southern desert of Israel. Yoni Avittan fronts the band as lead vocalist and guitarist, as Ran Aronson sings backing vocals while simultaneously playing bass lines on keyboard with one hand and playing the entire drum kit with the other.

In February 2020, THE DODIES premiered their whimsical video for single "Boiling Point" (watch it here: youtu.be/muHmssD1vPE) from their upcoming debut album It’s One Hell of a Ride due out on April 24, 2020. The album is produced by THE DODIES and co-producer Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal (Sons Of Apollo / ex-Guns N' Roses).

THE DODIES songs jump head-first into depression, alienation and rage, contrasted by hooky riffs and catchy melodies. They're a band that puts high importance on artistic integrity and uncompromising authenticity, always giving their full spirit in the studio and on stage.

"I was called in to co-produce a demo they were recording at a studio in Texas, end of 2018. I was blown away - great songwriters, performers, and lots of personality. Yoni (guitars/vocals) is a poetic uncompromising artist. Ran (drums/keys/backing vocals) plays the entire kit with his right arm while simultaneously playing bass on a synth with his left hand, and singing backing vocals, and does it effortlessly. Together they're a sight to be seen" says Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal.

Thal adds, "They put very high importance on integrity, everything being authentic in expressing who they are, I respect that a lot. My role was to make that happen. I flew out to them to record the full album. We recorded the music at a local studio, then recorded vocals and extras (tambourine, foot stomps, kicking rattling amps...) at Ran's house (I brought over mics and an interface). We did it all with no click track, no re-amping, no drum triggers, no auto-tune - just the two of them playing together, capturing the spirit, on their gear, everything in just a first or second take. We worked as a team the following months mixing, tweaking, obsessing over details until it was ready. I can truly say, I can't remember the last time I've felt so much heart and had so much fun producing a band, I want to see these guys go on to have a great future, and am grateful to be here at the start of it all."

The Dodies are:
Yoni Avittan - Singer / Guitarist
Ran Aronson - Drummer / Synth Bassist / Backing Vocalist

ICYMI: BARISHI Shares Live Footage from Virtual Concert Stream

Earlier this year, progressive sludge metal outfit BARISHI live streamed a pummeling performance from the Stone Church in their hometown of Brattleboro, VT. ICYMI.

The band is supporting their sophomore effort, 'Old Smoke,' which is out now and can be ordered in various formats HERE.

'Old Smoke' can be streamed HERE.

Chronologically speaking, while Graham Brooks falls into the generational social construct known as “the millennial,” in actuality the Barishi guitarist/vocalist is an old soul, wise and talented beyond his years. Sure, he’s got an all-in-one cellular device in his pocket like just about everyone else on the planet, but you’ll rarely find him obsessively staring into it unless necessary. He was scouring used book and record stores for classics long before it was deemed cool by the hipsters of his cohort and when it comes time to actually listening to his vinyl finds – instead of mounting them for show or posting “Look at what I bought” online missives – he prefers lengthy, involved and protracted pieces of music in direct opposition to the quick fixes required to sate the miniscule attention spans of kids these days.

Furthermore, when Brooks’ name comes up in conversation, a soon-to-be classic yarn quickly follows: last year, he was asked to provide a guest spot solo record on Cable’s Take the Stairs to Hell album. Instead of utilizing modern and available technology and facelessly recording and emailing in his contribution, the worryingly tall gentle giant drove five hours non-stop from his home in central Vermont to a Boston recording studio, laid down his solo in a matter of minutes then almost immediately got back in his car and drove the five hours home. Without a hint of self-consciousness or ironic arrogance, he’ll divulge, “I definitely have an interest in old stuff. I guess people would call me an atavist. I like to read about archeology and history and old empires and stuff like that. I remember hearing someone talk about the fleeting nature of smoke and its age throughout time and that seemed interesting to me.”

This is the launch pad for Barishi’s newest album, Old Smoke. The Green Mountain State metallic shape-shifters’ third album roils along with feet in both the distant past and foreseeable future. The record is a fulcrum for the conglomeration and combination of metal from black, progressive, doom and sludge subgenres aligned with a variety of rock musics, including classic, roots, Americana and indie. For Barishi, there are no sonic barriers, no musical borders, everything is welcome and the result of throwing all available ingredients into a melting pot to create a powerful sum of parts. It’s a notion that grizzled urbanites and dichotomous us-against-them thinkers might view as achingly naive or treacherously liberal, but in the alchemical context of novel robustness emerging from the distillation of the best of disparate parts, Old Smoke exists as a beacon of light and strength. This is something Brooks attributes not only to the experience the band has gained since forming in 2010, but also the isolation of growing up as hopeful metalheads in rural Vermont.

As a pre-teen, Brooks’ family moved him to the tiny village of West Dover in order to live and eventually work on the family farm, where he lives and works to this day. While precociously and proudly sporting an Iron Maiden shirt at the grocery store one day, he was spotted by, and became friends with, Dylan Blake and the two joined forces when they ended up at the same high school in town.

“Dylan was known around as a drum wizard, I played guitar and [bassist] John [Kelley] got into metal a little later, but we were always friends so we just started rocking out together and have just stuck with it.

“Early on, we didn’t know anybody or how to get shows until this guy in Burlington started running this thing called Metal Mondays at a club called Nectars, which is the place Phish got their start at,” he says about the band’s primordial age. “That was where we were able to become a little more professional, figure out what we were doing and what we wanted to do. But Vermont’s cool because it’s so isolated and because there’s not a lot to do people come out to metal shows. Some old hippie will come out and have a great time just because that’s what’s happening in town. It’s small enough that there are no scene politics with this genre of kids versus that genre of kids; if there’s a show, people go to it. I think that attitude has allowed us to do our own thing while playing to everybody. Once in a while I’ll talk to somebody from a big city and they’ll mention the woes of trying to play to fans of a certain subgenre and how it never goes over. We don’t really have that in Vermont.”

Originally an instrumental band called Atlatl, the band joined forces with vocalist Sascha Simms and switched to the Barishi moniker in 2012. The then-quartet recorded and self-released a self-titled album in 2013 which caught the eye and ear of the likes of DecibelMetal HammerNew Noise, and, most importantly, Season of Mist. Being offered a recording contract slathered the Barishi camp in surprise (“We had done a fair bit of DIY touring, but it wasn’t like we were the big local band or had any buzz at all”) and sparked a growing ambition which begat the band’s 2016 album, Blood from the Lion’s Mouth. Shortly after the debut’s release though, Simms and the band parted ways which put Barishi in a holding pattern for a few months until they decided to stop looking for a replacement and fill the position internally.

“We tried a few other singers until I ended up grabbing the vocal reins. There weren’t hordes of disappointed fans or protesting crowds of Sascha loyalists,” Brooks says with a self-deprecating laugh, “so it made it easier to make the sort of identity change that most bands would worry about. Plus, it was hard to find people willing to give up as much as you have to and put in the work to be in a band.”

Once they traversed the hurdle of Simms’ departure, the now-trio discovered a new side of the band. Now that they didn’t have to concern themselves with what to do with a vocalist during lengthy instrumental parts, the songs got longer, more exploratory, grandiose and epic. Add on to that the fact that Old Smoke was gestated over a three year period and it becomes clear why this album brims with a monumental magnanimity.

“Not having a vocalist meant we could do our thing a little more. This was also the first time we demo-ed things extensively and through that process I was able to get a better perspective on the songs and shape them a little bit more towards something we’d want to listen to. I remember having a conversation with a friend about our shared love of Iron Maiden and one of us said something about Maiden being one of those bands that, when you put on a song, you instantly feel like you’re going on a quest. I thought that was bad ass and really wanted to write songs that could be considered ‘quest-worthy.’ I’d say that was a big thing when we were writing these songs: writing longer songs that went somewhere without making them seem cumbersome.”

Despite the excellence of Old Smoke, Barishi is humble and fully cognizant of their position as low rung on the ladder at Season of Mist, in particular, and in the metal scene, in general. Brooks reveals without hesitation that “I’m still surprised we weren’t dropped after losing a charismatic frontman like Sascha,” and that “We’re still new to and nervous about playing big markets like NYC” despite recent tours with Weedeater and Tombs. But with tracks like the lassoed meandering of awesome album opener “The Silent Circle,” the sinister black metal/noise rock slashing of “The Longhunter” and the sky-opening prog-metal enormity of the title track leading the charge, Old Smoke is set to make an indelible mark on the metal scene; one dripping with passion for the art of progressive song writing, honest creative expression and the hunt for one’s individual voice while paying homage to the well-worn parts of record collections.

“A big goal we have is having the band catch up to our tastes in music. Sometimes people have good taste in music, but what they create doesn’t always reflect the quality of that taste. I like to think I have good taste in music and I think we’re starting to reflect that in the music we make. There are bands we really respect that can write super-long, beautiful songs you can listen to and it sucks if you get interrupted because you want to listen to the whole thing in one shot. We want to have songs like that, songs you look forward to listening to. We also want to have an enjoyable creative process in creating something that sits well with us; to make something that survives the long term and is a fair representation of the stuff we’re into.”

Old Smoke it is, then!

It’s often small things that can give powerful impetus to a musician’s creativity. In the case of USA-based metal trio Raven, featuring the English brothers John (bass, vocals) and Mark (guitar) Gallagher, it was the unanimously positive reactions to their 2015 release ExtermiNation, and of course the arrival of drummer Mike Heller (he joined the fold in summer 2017 to replace Joe Hasselvander, who had left the band due to health issues) which has resulted in an awesome new album. “Our initial goal was just to raise the bar once more. We did a good job on ExtermiNation and decided we just wanted more of everything next time,” John Gallagher grins. “however things changed once we got Mike on board. Attitude and tempos got revved up a lot! Mike is a ball of energy. He has a good ear and is a big fan of the early albums, especially the crazy feel. He’s kicked us into a higher gear where we feel that we can play anything and everything we write with no restrictions.” Gallagher’s explanations ring with pure, unadulterated musical enthusiasm and passion, so curtain up for Metal City, which sees Raven deliver ten songs with no holds barred.
