Crossover party thrashers INSANITY ALERT are teaming up with Koloss Skateboard for the release of the Shredator skateboard deck!

Bonded by a beer drinkin' and hellraisin' pact of thrash and skate, the band pitched the idea of a skater version of the great 80s Schwarzenegger movie "The Predator" to Koloss Skateboards and the rest is history. The Shredator skate deck was designed by artist James Callahan, a.k.a Barf Comics, who also created the album artwork for INSANITY ALERT's 'Moshburger.' The skateboard is available at Black Heaven Shop along with a limited edition white flexi vinyl and other INSANITY ALERT merchandise. You can find it HERE. 

In celebration of the new skateboard, the band has also dropped a new single, aptly titled "Shredator." The song can be found on the official Season of Mist Youtube Channel HERE.

Thrash outfit INSANITY ALERT are the kind of people who know what to bring to a party: a big dose of humour with a dash of darkness, party tunes, and a six pack. It’s these ingredients that make up the basis of the band’s third full length record, ‘666-pack’.
 
The world of INSANITY ALERT is a dark yet happy place. Fast, aggressive music, crazy lyrics about alcohol, rage, weed, ignorance and hate, all drenched in an 80’s hot sauce but played with a 2019 attitude. The band emerged from the Austrian city of Innsbruck in 2011, with only one intent: deliver crushing, crossover party thrash.
 
A tongue-in-cheek concept backed up by strong musical prowess worked out extremely well as 'First Diagnosis' proved in 2012. This demo was welcomed with open arms and the first impression of the public quickly confirmed by 'Second Opinion', which came out the year after. In 2014, debut album, 'Insanity Alert' delighted critics and fans alike and was reissued four years later by Season of Mist. The wild Tyrolians, always eager to please, next served a juicy 'Moshburger' (2016).

With ‘666-pack’ the band proves once more to be an unstoppable force. Whether it is dropping a to-the-point, crossover track such as “The Body Of The Christ is The Parasite” or INSANITY ALERT-esque interpretations of classics like “Saturday Grind Fever”, the groove will have you headbanging in no time with a smirk on your face. Having confirmed their first festivals for 2019 and riding the wave of the thrash metal revival, INSANITY ALERT can’t wait to return to the stage and share (a) 666-pack with you!

Whether it’s in music or in life: clarity is always the best argument if you want to convince people. Everybody knows where they stand, nobody is left in the dark, reliability and dependability are characteristics that everybody appreciates. Mad Max are musically unambiguous and have been for almost forty years! Their deeply melodic hard rock, driven by haunting guitar riffs, catchy vocals and a rhythm section with an infallible timing, has never lost its contours and honesty. Virtues that apply not only to all previous releases by the band consisting of Michael Voss (vocals/guitar), Jürgen Breforth (guitar), Axel Kruse (drums) and Thomas „Hutch“ Bauer (bass), but also to their latest offering, Stormchild Rising. 

Stormchild Rising celebrates a musical direction that has never lost its significance, despite all trends and short-lived fashions, and that’s also what Mad Max’s fans demand vociferously. “On our last tour we talked to fans from lots of different countries every night and found out that they don’t want us to experiment, they want to hear exactly the kind of songs that Mad Max have been known for since 1981,” says Breforth, looking back at the important insights gained during their tour supporting their previous album, Thirty 5.

How exactly this unambiguousness sounds in 2020 is revealed by the first single release ‘Hurricaned’, supported by a lyric video clip and socio-critical message. “We’re all subjected to a veritable hurricane of media overkill every day and can hardly process that flood of information,” Breforth explains the lyric, which was written before the Corona crisis and hence has almost prophetic traits. “With the relentless coverage of the pandemic since spring 2020, the media overkill has grown even worse.” Musically, ‘Hurricaned’is Mad Max’s homage to Rainbow and their frontman Ronnie Romero, whom they met during their joint tour with CoreLeoni and who shares the vocals on ‘Hurricaned’ with Michael Voss.

New Jersey-based rock n' roll trio THE ATOMIC BITCHWAX have announced their new studio album, 'Scorpio', which will see an August 28th release via Tee Pee Records. The group, which originally formed in the mid-90s, consists of lead vocalist/bassist Chris Kosnik, drummer Bob Pantella, and guitarist Garrett Sweeny, all of whom are past or present members of the band Monster Magnet. Scorpio is the follow up to the group's 2017 full-length 'Force Field', and their eighth studio LP overall spanning more than two decades.

The scourge and scorch of New Jersey returns, and their sting is deadly as ever. Garden State riff rock stalwarts The Atomic Bitchwax proudly present their eighth full-length, Scorpio.

In a busy three years since NJ’s most powerful power trio issued 2017’s Force Field, they’ve toured the US and Europe multiple times over, taken part in fests far and wide, and blown past the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut album.

Scorpio acknowledges the two-decades milestone in its opening revamp of the first song the band ever wrote with vocals, “Hope You Die,” the crash-in of which will be immediately familiar to anyone who’s seen them live. A generation later, it still gets the message across.

From then on, it’s all-go on nine fresh-made burners, founding bassist/vocalist Chris Kosnik, guitarist Garrett Sweeny, and drummer Bob Pantella toying with tempo subtly to lace songs like “Betting Man” and “Easy Action” and “Energy” with signature-style memorable hooks amid instrumentals “Ninja,” “Crash” and “Instant Death,” the head-spinning turns of which push ahead in the aggressive stance The Bitchwax began to present in 2015’s Gravitron while still remaining imbued with new character and the loyalty to classic heavy rock that underlies all their work.

Dayseeker vocalist Rory Rodriguez and drummer Mike Karle have announced their new project Hurtwave. For this endeavor, the pair traffic in synths and the output is decidedly different than that of their main band.

The duo has signed to Spinefarm Records and has shared the brand new song "Sever." Listen here.

The track will appear on the band's debut EP, Night Therapy I. The EP will be released as seven separate installments over the coming months.

"'Sever' is the first song Mike and I ever wrote together for this project and we feel it will set the tone for our particular sound as a group," Rodriguez explains. "It tells the story of a person you've been wanting to be with romantically who consistently strings you along and is never willing to commit or to cut ties entirely, either."

Hurtwave was born when Rodriguez and Karle were drafting demos in GarageBand. These tracks "flourished into some of our proudest work yet," Rodriguez explains. "Blending our real and emotional lyrics into a synthwave setting has created something really special for our listeners."

Expect more music from Hurtwave soon. But for now, immerse yourself in "Sever."

From the fertile grounds of Tilburg (NL) rises new contemporary metal outfit AUTARKH, a group of musical extremists that keep pushing the boundaries. AUTARKH is the brainchild of Michel Nienhuis, founding member and composer/guitarist of DODECAHEDRON. He comments on the signing:

"We are very glad to announce our signing to Season Of Mist - a record label with an excellent staff that continues to be a true flagship of underground culture. I have been collaborating successfully with Season of Mist and Doomstar bookings for many years with DODECAHEDRON so it was an easy choice to continue both relationships in this new form. We are currently in the final stage of producing our debut album and are looking forward to release it in 2021." 

Death and illness was closing in on DODECAHEDRON, revealing that a transformation of concept was necessary in order to effectuate artistic development. AUTARKH is built on the artistic foundation of DODECAHEDRON but expands on new horizons in regard to vocal and rhythmic content.

Teaming up again with record label Season Of Mist and booking agent Doomstar bookings, the band is bound to carve their own path and ignite a new flame within the landscape of the heavy music industry. Rochester, NY band OVTLIER has premiered their official music video for single "Buried Me Alive"

“Buried Me Alive” is a personal favorite and great representation of Ovtlier. I chose to re-record Buried in 2019 (release in 2020) because I knew there was a lot of life left and it deserved to be heard. It was written by myself and Evan McKeever and produced by Justin “JD” de Blieck of Ice Nine Kills. It was a great experience to revisit a song from years ago only to see how much you grow as a musician and vocalist. It’s a test to oneself. Lyrically, the song is about my love for music but hate for the industry. It can almost take the love out of the art if you let it, chew you up and spit you out. Like life, we must roll with the punches and continue on" says Arena.

Ovtlier has grown into a roaring rock band of stadium ambitions. Canadian rock veterans Econoline Crush, fronted by Trevor Hurst along with talented members Ziggy Sigmund (guitarist, 1997-2002, 2009-present) and drummer Dayvid Swart (Todd Kerns Band), are back after recording their first full-length album in over a decade. Delivering their first single “Get Out of the Way” the rock alumni are ready to hit the stage again with an arsenal of new songs released on indie start-up Amalien Records, and fresh takes on their chart topping hits.

“We decided to re-record GET OUT OF THE WAY (2008) to launch our deal with Amalien Records. We think the song suits the times we live in, and helps amplify the voices of those trying to build a better world for everyone. It just felt like the perfect song for this moment in time" says Trevor.

Despite their absence the sound of Econoline Crush is still there, but now with a more transformed and enhanced resonance.

“There's still the industrial sound,” adds Trevor, “but it's drifted towards more classic elements of rock. We're evolving into a more organic direction. The songs are taking a lead role.”

Adaptable as well, the band is a full-on rock assault, with gritty guitars and crashing percussion, but they can also switch to acoustic, soulful rock in a moment’s notice. Entering a new era of production as well, Econoline Crush takes classic rock, industrial and electronica, and melds it to create something both unique and appealing to their legacy of fans, and new music fans of today.

Along with the release of the new album and single, diligent lead vocalist Trevor Hurst worked tirelessly on an upcoming documentary film, slated for release in 2021. Flatlander, sheds a light on what the singer has been doing in the years between live performances and songwriting. It’s an admirable journey from a man who has toured with Alice Cooper, opened for KISS at New York’s Madison Square Garden and headlined his own tours, but Trevor Hurst is now also a registered psychiatric nurse. Reconciling the pursuit of rock stardom with the desire to connect with people and make a difference, Hurst and Econoline Crush are reemerging now as a revitalized band, with a deeper sense of purpose.

On the latest efforts by the band, Hurst says “I realized what a great gift was bestowed upon us as a band and as individuals, to have this ability to make music and to entertain. I don't take this for granted. That's why everybody in the band feels this is not an opportunity to waste.”

If the state of today’s society is reflected in music, hardcore punk / grindcore veterans VENOMOUS CONCEPT have returned to the stage with a fitting soundtrack. The band’s fourth full-length frontal assault, ‘Politics Versus The Erection’ manifests a no-nonsense and outspoken voice, resonating with the chaos that reigns over the world today.  

Starting out in 2004, the band was conceived as something like a grind punk supergroup - if that term can even be applied to a bunch of people with clear counterculture preferences. The name was chosen to pay homage to the legendary POISON IDEA.
 
At the core of VENOMOUS CONCEPT you will find BRUTAL TRUTH vocalist Kevin Sharp and Shane Embury, the iconic bass player of NAPALM DEATH. The two musicians had bonded over beer and pizza as well as their mutual love of punk heroes such as BLACK FLAG, SYSTEMATIC DEATH, GBH, SIEGE, and of course POISON IDEA.
 
The duo soon set about plotting its own assault on the style. Armed with bucketloads of coffee, the pair roped in Danny Herrera of NAPALM DEATH on drums, as well as MELVINS guitarist Buzz Osborne. A record deal was signed with Mike Patton and VENOMOUS CONCEPT's first album, 'Retroactive Abortion' (2004) was followed by a split-CD with Japanese grind band 324 (2006) and another in 2008 with BLÖOD DÜSTER.

Buzz Osborne eventually went on a hiatus, but he never really left and there is always a chance for his return - schedules permitting. Shane switched to guitar when longtime friend Dan Lilker (BRUTAL TRUTH, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, ex-ANTHRAX) joined on bass. Next, VENOMOUS CONCEPT brought in John Cooke of CORRUPT MORAL ALTAR on second guitar for touring. Sophomore full-length 'Poisoned Apple' hit the stores in 2008.
 
A quiet spell followed, but the band returned fully charged and ready for attack with their third record 'Kick Me Silly - VC III' in 2016, which saw VENOMOUSCONCEPT continue in their trademark grindcore punk style. Following a European tour with BRUJERIA in 2019 and several festivals shows, the musicians headed back into the studio to write and record their fourth album.

With over 30 minutes of short, sharp musical blasts, venomous lyrics, satirical animations, and by offering their candid views, VENOMOUS CONCEPT have again created a record that breathes a true hardcore punk spirit.

Of the new single, Synthpop Fanatic describes it as a “beautiful song featuring dense, stuttering electronics and Chiasm’s trademark ethereal vocals that shift into an echoing, high-pitched chorus.” The outlet also hails Chiasm “a massively overlooked talent in the industrial and dark electronic scene.” 

The project of Detroit-based musician Emileigh Rohn, Chiasm has become known for cultivating lush, eclectic, eerily dystopian sonic landscapes with delicately balanced vocals for the past 20-plus years. The 5-song Away EP, led by the title track single, also features writing and musicianship from collaborator John Fryer (Black Needle Noise), the noted producer whose credits include Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, 4AD, Cocteau Twins and Love and Rockets.

The Away EP comes in advance of Chiasm’s full-length album, Missed The Noise, to be released later this year. Both will be released by COP International—the label home of Stabbing Westward, Deathline International and Suicide Queen.

The newest release follows a long line of notable releases from Chiasm (established in 1997), including the 2001 album Disorder with the track “Isolated” that was featured in the television show NCIS as well as in the Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines computer game. Rohn has also collaborated with genre stars Attrition, Carphax Files, Jean-Marc Lederman, Third Realm, :10:, and Acclimate.

All of Rohn’s previous releases had been self-written, programmed, performed and produced in her Michigan studio known as the MausHaus. The music, and the project name (which refers to the optic chiasm, a crossing of optic neurons in the brain that allow people to have continuous and peripheral vision), are in dedication to her full-time career in the field of science.

Former Reigndance vocalist Andre Comeau, also known for his appearance as the “rocker guy” on the original first season of MTV’s groundbreaking reality series “The Real World", will release his new solo EP WRONG WITHIN, Friday, June 6/19 on all digital outlets via THC MUSIC/EMP LABEL GROUP. WRONG WITHIN is 5 songs of straightforward, southern-tinged Hard-Rock, written and spear-headed by guitarist/vocalist Comeau.

On Wrong Within, Comeau returns to his musical roots, fronting a heavy rock band with veteran session musician Darren Elpant on drums. Toeing the line between classic and cutting edge, Comeau proves that guitar-rock can still be vital, original, and relevant in 2020.

From Folk-Balladeer to Hard Rocker, to reluctant reality star, Andre Comeau has done it all. Born in 70’s-era Detroit to a family of touring musicians, Andre grew up steeped in all genres of music. Possessed with an instinctual sense of melody and dynamics, Andre has music in his blood. And blood in his music.

His band Reigndance---which also featured Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age, The Dead Weather) ignited, but quickly outgrew the burgeoning Detroit music scene of the early 90’s. Shortly after relocating to New York, Andre was chosen to be a cast member of the inaugural season of MTV’s seminal reality show ‘The Real World’. The show was an instant success, and Andre,The Real World’s token “Rock Guy”, and Reigndance were afforded massive exposure. After three records and extensive touring, the band found themselves at a creative crossroads. They disbanded in 1997.

Says Comeau, “Reigndance was really a great band, and we took it up the mountain. And I’m extremely proud of everything we did. And we’ve all continued to be successful in our individual pursuits after. The Real World thing, for a long time, was something I disconnected with, and at the time, it was really its own thing. For a long time, I didn’t even talk about it.

But as the World has evolved into the reality based, unscripted, instantly-gratified place it is now, it’s easier to look back and see the importance of The Real World, and what we were all a part of. There were times it definitely felt like a counter-active force, but in hindsight, it truly was incredible to be a part of what would become the ground zero of the almost complete evolution and transformation of entertainment as we know it.”

Comeau relocated to Los Angeles in search of fresh stimuli and new musical landscapes. The 2000s found Andre returning to the folk music of his youth with River Rouge. They released a handful of well received albums and became a highlight of the Los Angeles club scene, but disbanded in 2016.

In 2019, Comeau connected with Hard Rock staple EMP LABEL GROUP, head up by Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, and his running partner Thom Hazaert, and triumphantly returns to his hard rock roots with the Wrong Within EP---a straight-no-chaser collection of ballsy Rock songs

Says Hazaert, “I have always been a fan of Andre’s music, which, of course, I discovered through The Real World. Reigndance was a great Rock band, and, from a distance, I have perpetually kept up with his musical endeavors over the years. While we had discussed briefly working together during the early 2000’s, which ultimately never came to fruition as he transitioned away from Rock for a season, i’m extremely excited that it has come together now the way it has. Andre has always been an extremely gifted songwriter, and a true entertainer.”
