Scotland-based troubadour Withered Hand presents 'Waking Up' single, heralding new album via Reveal Records

As life-affirming as music gets” ~ The Herald

“Killer melodies … full of warm, woozy sing-song charm”
 ~
Rolling Stone

“The UK’s best lyricist” ~ King Creosote

“Beautifully constructed lyrical frameworks... Caledonian gospel”
 ~ MOJO

“Godlike Genius” ~ Justin Currie (Del Amitri)

"Stellar music.. sits perfectly square in the middle of Elliott Smith, Flaming Lips, Guided By Voices and Omaha’s Bright Eyes with a dash of Van Morrison and ‘Rocks’-era Primal Scream" ~ The Spill Magazine

UK indie rock troubadour Withered Hand presents his uplifting new single 'Waking Up', released on February 14 via Reveal Records, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The accompanying video was filmed on location in Portobello, Edinburgh by Juliana Capes.

Withered Hand is the nom de plume of Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Dan Willson, originally hailing from London. Collaborating with Mark Freegard (The Breeders, Del Amitri, New Model Army, Lush, Pale Saints) on the radio edit, this is the first single from his 'How To Love' album, officially released on April 28.

Produced, recorded and mixed by renowned producer Tony Doogan (Mogwai, David Byrne, Teenage Fanclub, The Twilight Sad, Belle & Sebastian, The Delgados) at Castle of Doom Studios in Glasgow, the new album features guest appearances by King Creosote and Mercury-nominated English songwriter Kathryn Williams.

'Waking Up' is every bit as beautiful as his acclaimed 'New Gods' LP (2014), which was released on vinyl via Slumberland Records and featured Scottish luminaries from Belle & Sebastian, Frightened Rabbit and The Vaselines, as well as Pam Berry of seminal 90’s US noisepop band Black Tambourine, propelling Withered Hand into the charts. On the new album, he continues to live up to his reputation as one of Scotland’s most gifted songwriters.

Dan Willson notes, “It’s hard to put down your worries when you’re so used to carrying them around that they seem like part of who you are. This song is about taking a long hard honest look in the mirror and about the unfolding process of trying to trim my rudder a little every day to do something about what I see there. In my mind I was channeling a Street Legal-era Dylan vibe with that strident chord pattern and Pete’s swirling Hammond organ and brass and the band bring a lot of joy to this arrangement, we had fun with it".

“I’d put the pain down, I’m afraid I won’t see mercy
Teach me the song the new morning sings”

Willson started writing songs and singing in his thirties following the birth of his first child and the death of a close friend. With a wayward tenor and unaffected charm onstage, he has come to be celebrated as a songwriter and lyricist of rare wit and remarkable honesty. With songs picked up by MTV and cult series 'Skins', he's gained a legion of fans including Jarvis Cocker and Rolling Stone USA, who deemed him an Artist to Watch.

As of February 14, 'Waking Up' is available everywhere digitally, includingApple Music,Spotify and Bandcamp, where the'How To Love' album can also be obtained directly from the artist.

Having started the new year with a sold-out show at London’s Lexington, more 2023 shows are being added. Withered Hand will play two album launch shows - on April 20th atManchester's Gulliversand April 28th atEdinburgh's Liquid Room, involving special guests.

Drum tracking for Exul, the fourth long-player from Australian extreme progressive metallers NE OBLIVISCARIS, started in March 2020. There is an ominous tone to that date: March 2020. The pandemic demarcation line. That month, Daniel Presland laid down his drums in Nashville, Tennessee, with American producer Mark Lewis. As flight cancellations increased and borders shuttered, Presland made it home literally hours before Australia closed theirs. Lewis, guitarist Benjamin Baret and bassist Martino Garattoni weren’t as lucky. They were due to land in Australia in the days that followed to continue tracking, but were forced to remain overeseas indefinitely. With recording studios shuttered throughout Melbourne, a slow, tedious, life-altering two-year grind to complete Exul ensued for NE OBLIVISCARIS

What should have been the continued upward swing after 2017’s critically acclaimed Urn turned into the most fraught moment of NE OBLIVISCARIS’s career. Clean vocalist and violinist Tim Charles says the period “came close to breaking us completely.” It was a time filled with death, relationships breaking down, despair and financial loss. Presland, NE OBLIVISCARIS’s drummer since 2005, amicably parted ways in early 2022, throwing yet another wrench into the band’s plans.

There are, however, happy accidents scattered throughout the creation of Exul. The extra, unexpected downtime allowed the band to fine-tune and even re-write parts previously set in stone before the pandemic. Charles’s violin solo at the end of “Graal” is a prime example: His original idea wasn’t fully realized until he revisited the song in early 2021 and promptly came up with a new part. It was a classic “a-ha” moment that improved the song.

“Getting an opportunity to have a song mostly done for a year or so and then go back to it, find what you loved about it the first time and maybe even improve it in some ways was a nice silver lining from all the delays,” says Charles. “I think because we had so many delays that were out of our control, we were even more determined to take our time to make sure when the time came to record and to mix, that we ensured it was the absolute best it could be in every way.”

Seven additional studios and three more countries later, Exul was finally mixed and mastered in July 2022.

The album personifies NE OBLIVISCARIS’s distinctive, boundary-pushing ethos. The band’s trademark blend of emotion and beauty is as towering as ever, if not even more compelling, particularly how Charles’s violin lines carefully weave their way around Baret and fellow guitarist Matt Klavins’ riffing. The duality of Charles’s clean vocals and Xenoyr’s growls remains the narrative anchor, elevating songs that emanate sophistication and are a masterclass in composition.

“Our approach is always the same,” says Charles, “which is essentially to just write and see what comes out. Exul definitely had its challenges during the songwriting process. Part of the beauty of how our music comes together is that we are quite different individuals bringing an array of ideas together. From there, we work out how to combine them into something that is seamless and beautiful to us. We were determined to make this our best and most complete album yet, which definitely resulted in it taking longer. But we are so proud of this album and it’s exciting to finally share it with the world.”

The album’s centerpiece is the two-part “Misericorde I – As the Flesh Fails” and “Misericorde – Anatomy of Quiescence.” (A NE OBLIVISCARIS album is not complete without a multi-part epic!) According to Charles, Part II began by taking a song they thought was finished (Pt I) and asking, “What if after that…?” The band then wrote a section that took the piece in a new direction and what was a 7 minute song, became an almost 17 minute 2 part epic.

“The bulk of Part I was written more so by Benji and Martino,” notes Charles. “You can hear the very guitar-driven approach present throughout that track. Part II, by contrast, was written more so by myself in collaboration with others and the emphasis changes more towards expansive solos and slow-developing sections that build towards the epic finale. These two tracks are a great example of how it’s the combination of our different strengths as songwriters spread across an album that results in the sound that is 'NE OBLIVISCARIS'.”

Charles’s violin parts, whether on “Misericorde II,” “Equus” or “Suspyre,” exude confidence. The instrument has always been central to the band’s sound. On Exul, Charles’s violin playing is taken to another level. “I think that over the years, in regards to how my violin interacts within NeO’s music, I’ve simply continued to add more strings to my bow, so to speak,” he says. “With ‘Exul,’ I definitely explored even further the use of layers of violin and viola parts to create a more textured feel compared to other albums. ‘Mesericorde II’ was definitely a bit of a breakthrough song for me, where I felt I could utilize the strings in a way that hadn’t been done in NeO’s music before. In the end, whatever serves the song best is always the aim and having more ways of creating music makes it easier to serve the song.”

The Exul album title came to Xen when he was summing up the album’s feeling musically and lyrically. Coincidentally, it matched the experience of most people during the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “I think everyone at some point has felt at odds with the world around them, felt alone, cast out, or misunderstood,” says Xen. “Exul felt right to use in a broader sense and as a lone word, for we each have our own history and a story of exile.

“Overall, there’s a darker core to this album, perhaps more ominous than previous releases,” he continues. “However abstract the lyrics are, they involve some form of unwanted departure — all journeys into torment, passion, longing and even despair. They touch on the process of physical and psychological destruction that comes from that sense or reality of being exiled, whether forced from one’s land, ostracised from a community, shunned by a religion, or even simply being treated differently for being who they are.”

Touring will factor heavily into NE OBLIVISCARIS’s 2023 plans. The band will embark on headlining tours worldwide that will hit new territories. As luck would have it, the return to live show activity will coincide with the release of Exul and the band’s 20th anniversary. As one of Australia’s leading extreme metal exports, there is a distinct sense of gratitude from Charles and his bandmates. They’re looking forward to sharing it with fans when they resume touring.

“Simply getting the opportunity to perform music that we’ve written on stages around the world to people that genuinely love and connect with it,” finishes Charles when talking about NE OBLIVISCARIS’s 20-year journey. “There is something incredibly special about the energy that exists between an artist and audience at a concert and it’s an honor to get the opportunity to spend 2023 connecting with people in that way once more.”

Jody and The Jerms present 'Started Something', first sugar-spun pop delight from new 'Wonder' LP

"It’s almost like power pop, a bit Bangles... or jangle pop. Lovely" ~ Radcliffe & Maconie, BBC 6 Music

"Jody had to be coerced into singing, and she does it really well. It's good isn't it!" ~ Janice Long - BBC Wales

"Aglow in sugar-spun pop confections and unforgettable harmonies that conjures the jangling heyday of The Bangles and the buoyant rhythms of The Regrettes... Jody and the Jerms summon the summer in the most effortless of ways" ~ Stereo Embers Magazine

"All exquisite... Breathtaking stuff" ~ Oxfordshire Music Scene

"At the top of their A-game... a welcome and liberating flame" ~ Nightshift Magazine

"Rich and diversely entertaining... they sparkle continually with ambition and poise"~ Liverpool Sound & Vision

UK indie pop outfit Jody and the Jerms are hot to trot with their new single 'Started Something', the first taste of their forthcoming full-length album 'Wonder', out in April via their own JATJ Records imprint.

Their third album to date, this new collection of 12 tracks was produced, mixed and mastered by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound Studio in Oxfordshire. Loaded with a healthy dose of melodic chrystallised indie pop that is heartfelt and honest, they present endearing jangle-pop songs that are both evocative and relatable.

Championed by the late Janice Long at BBC, among others, Jody and the Jerms is a collective revolving around Jody Jeger (vocals) and Niall Jeger (guitars and vocals) with other band members coming from The Anydays, who have graced the pages of NME, played with Radiohead and Supergrass, and were featured on Mark Radcliffe at BBC Radio 2.

'Wonder' follows their ‘Flicker’ album (2022) and debut album 'Deeper' (2020). Here, the Jerms deliver 12 jangle-pop gems, crafted with a sanguine innocence and vivid relatability. Warmly nostalgic and graced by Jody’s sweet-natured vocal, the band's output radiates somewhere between The Go-Go's, Blondie, The Bangles and The Darling Buds.

Formed in Oxford in 2019, Jody and the Jerms have been writing, recording and performing their blend of melodic and uplifting indie/ alt rock ever since, having enjoyed national airtime on Radio X (UK), Sirius XM (USA) and RTVE (Spain), as well as BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Wales and BBC Ulster.

Despite the fact that Jody had never sung before joining the Jerms, the band has quickly developed into the real deal with last year’s 'Flicker' album, which received strong accolades with its modern twist on 90s influences, followed by a loaded UK tour and festivals over the summer.

Jody and the Jerms' sound harks back to those untouchable days indie music enjoyed in the 90s, possessing seemingly effortlessness melodies and choruses which embed themselves in your head for days.

"'Started Something' is about a chance meeting of two people which is so exciting and special that it just knocks them off their feet. Everything between them just clicks and fizzes with passion and verve. There are many reasons why they shouldn’t start something in this dreary world , with all their day in day out humdrum responsibilities, so they imagine that the world has stopped turning for everyone else, whilst they can have their time together," says Jody.

Niall Jeger adds, "Musically, this started as a riff on an acoustic, as many of our songs do, which Rob followed on piano and the rest of the song came together really quickly".

As of February 15, 'Started Something' is available on BandcampSpotifyApple Music and other fine digital music platforms. The 'Wonder' album will be released on April 21 and available on limited edition CD, pretty pink vinyl and digitally.

In support of this release, Jody and the Jerms will be performing for select UK dates with more dates to be added. Further info can be found at https://jodyandthejerms.com/live

Earth Groans Announce "Tongue Tied" EP + Share "Overgrown" Video

STREAM "OVERGROWN"

EARTH GROANS ANNOUNCE TONGUE TIED EP OUT MARCH 3 VIA SOLID STATE RECORDS

South Dakota metalcore band Earth Groans will release the Tongue Tied EP on March 3 via Solid State Records. Pre-order it here

Today, the band has shared the video for "Overgrown."

Watch the unsettling yet thought-provoking clip for this ferocious new track below.

"Sometimes our 'hell' is just the waiting room to prepare us for our 'heaven,'" the band says.

As the vision of frontman Jeremy Schaeffer, Earth Groans have tallied millions of streams and built a devout fanbase — and the project has truly found its voice with the forthcoming Tongue Tied  EP. The title holds a special significance for Schaeffer, as it tells his story quite literally.

"I was actually born tongue tied," he states. "I had skin all the way up to my teeth, and I couldn't move my tongue at all. They performed the surgery right away and freed my tongue completely. Throughout my life, it has been a metaphor. I've always had a hard time fitting into the community I'm in. This whole record refers to a person finding his or her voice. I found my voice through music. It's how I've been able to communicate what's in my heart and find my true calling. My dad always said, 'Ironically, you don't talk a whole lot, but your music is really loud.'"

Earth Groans initially incited shockwaves through heavy music out of South Dakota with the Renovate EP in 2017. They buzzed out of the local scene and clawed their way into the international consciousness with the Rahab EP [2018], Prettiest of Things EP [2020], Waste EP [2020], and The Body EP [2021]. The latter gained traction on streaming platforms as the band earned plugs from HM MagazineThe PRPLambgoat, and many more. Along the way, they performed with the likes of August Burns Red on the popular Christmas Burns Red Festival and packed venues on tour coast-to-coast. Working with producer Ryan Leitru [For Today], Earth Groans honed their sound for 2023.

The Noise Who Runs releases 'Beautiful Perhaps', a shimmering indie gem previewing their 'Preteretrospective’ LP

"There is a gothic undercurrent to the sound: a heart of darkness that circulates under the electronic thrum and an ominous air... a poetic brutality in the lyrics that reflects our current climes with clinical precision... ‘Beautiful Perhaps’ has the anthemic grace and stature of something by The Sisters of Mercy: it has an Arctic chill through which a lyrical, passionate heat radiates" ~ Backseat Mafia

UK-France electronic rock duo The Noise Who Runs presents 'Beautiful Perhaps', the anthemic first track from their imminent 'Preteretrospective’ LP, scheduled for release on April 7. This follows 'These Will Be Your Gods' EP, released in January, and ‘High Time in Lo-Fi’, their third EP released in mid-2022.

The Noise Who Runs is the project of songwriter and performer Ian Pickering, best known as a member of and songwriter for 90s British trip hop outfit Sneaker Pimps, having co-written such hits as 'Spin Spin Sugar', '6 Underground' and 'Tesko Suicide'. Over the past two years, he has churned out this new album while also working on the new Sneaker Pimps album

Hailing from Hartlepool in the north-east of England, Pickering launched this project in 2019, three years after relocating to Lille, France. Today, The Noise Who Runs is a duo of Pickering with Brazilian-born French guitarist Felipe Goes.

'Beautiful Perhaps' sets the lyrical tone for the whole album (the narrative seeks redemption, this is a picture book version censored to fiction as the demons pull us apart), the lyrics being the strongest ties binding its various musical styles and influences. Wonderfully poetic, hard-edged, clear-sighted but abstract, this music veers between brutal honesty and cynicism, optimism and realism in a tirade of social commentary from life at the thin end of the wedge.

"There’s a reason that 'Beautiful Perhaps' is the first single and also the first song on the album. It sets the tone for everything The Noise Who Runs is about," says Ian Pickering.

"My truth, that’s got nothing to do with anything. People need to stop selling their truth, their subjective complaints and petty outrages. First and foremost, I was a journalist, therefore, I deal in facts and I think as a general overview of the state of society and of humanity (not just this century but eternally) - this is as honest as you’re gonna get. And it hits the nail squarely and firmly on the head. The truth isn’t pretty but it has to be accepted before anything I describe in the song can be addressed. That’s what’s beautiful - perhaps."

The Noise Who Runs is a direct, literal translation of ‘O bruit qui cour’, a French phrase meaning ‘gossip’. It was also the name of Pickering’s favourite restaurant, where the ideas for this project fell into place. With live performances delayed due to Covid lockdowns, the duo instead released two EPs in 2020 (‘The First of Two Sides of a Double-headed Coin’ and ‘The Other Side of the Same Double-headed Coin’).

The Noise Who Runs' essence lies chiefly in the shared principles and approach to making music of punk/new wave and early hip-hop - in terms of the mentality and the message. Musically, TNWR's indie rock is heavily shaped by the 1970's experimental electronic scene in Sheffield, the 1990's guitar-house mix of the Manchester scene, Primal Scream's guitar-electronic sound after 1997’s 'Vanishing Point', and 2000’s XTRMNTR.

Pickering's role in Sneaker Pimps is rooted in a lifelong friendship with founding member Liam Howe and Chris Corner, who had also taught Pickering to play his first song on acoustic guitar. Having written and worked with Howe and Corner on various projects throughout their teens, he became Sneaker Pimps’ lyricist shortly after they recruited Kelli Dayton for the debut record 'Becoming X'.

As of February 14, the 'Beautiful Perhaps' single is available via BandcampSpotifyApple Music and elsewhere. The full 'Preteretrospective’ album will be released on April 7.

The Amity Affliction Drop "I See Dead People" Video

STREAM "I SEE DEAD PEOPLE"

THE AMITY AFFLICTION DROP "I SEE DEAD PEOPLE" VIDEO FEATURING LOUIE KNUXX

Australian metalcore trailblazers THE AMITY AFFLICTION — Joel Birch[vocals], Ahren Stringer [vocals, bass], Dan Brown [lead guitar], and Jon Longobardi [drums] — have just dropped the video for their brutal new single "I See Dead People," featuring late New Zealand rapper Louie Knuxx, who passed away in 2021. Watch it below

"I See Dead People" is easily one of the most blood-blistering songs in Amity's catalog. It will send chills up and down your spine.

"The song is about the ongoing and nebulous struggle that comes with dealing with the pain of friends killing themselves while myself dealing with passive suicidal ideation," says Birch.

ABOUT THE AMITY AFFLICTION:
Since emerging in 2008 with their debut Severed Ties, Australian powerhouse The Amity Affliction have consistently delivered. They've tallied over a billion streams worldwide, clocked four No. 1 records, have earned multiple Gold and Platinum certifications in their home country, and enjoyed a string of Top 30-charting albums on Billboard. They've also received critical accolades from Rolling Stone, Alternative Press, The Noise, and more. Throughout their career, The Amity Affliction have remained a featured attraction on some of the biggest festivals in the world — from Download UK, Reading and Leeds, Vans Warped Tour, Rock am Ring, Rock im park, Graspop, Sonic Temple, Welcome to Rockville, Hellfest, Slam Dunk, Jera on Air, and more! The band has sold out countless headline treks and have hit the road with everyone from A Day to Remember to Motionless in White to Silverstein to Sum 41 to Beartooth to PVRIS. New material is expected in 2023.

'Break You' single + West Coast / South-West tour for 'ON' album

"Sitting pretty at the heavier end of the College Rock sound, the band has managed to pull off a clever blend of pop melody with raw rock abrasiveness in quite a potent sonic sucker punch. Their very tight weave of classic and alt rock coated grunge works fabulously" ~ The Spill Magazine

"A cool album. A smart album. A deftly crafted album. A rock album? Yes…but much more. So much more" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Its DNA intwértwined with sounds once pounded out by the likes of the Pumpkins, Hole and L7...  one of the most exciting outfits to emerge post-pandemic" ~ Global Texan Chronicles

On the strength of their their eponymous 'ON' album, recently released via Toronto-based indie imprint Indiestructable Records and their new 'Break You' video, indie rock / power trio ON will be taking their 90s-flavoured indie rock vibes on the road. Although heavier, the root of their sound should come as no surprise, carrying on the legacy of their 90's Sire Records band Acid Test.

This tour brings them through the West Coast, Rockies and South-West, kicking off in San Diego on February 14 and ending in Seattle on April 2. With more than two dozen shows will be happening, the band will breeze loudly through California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Texas, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington state.

ON is a power trio made up of Lucy Di Santo (vocals, bass), Dan Cornelius(drums) and Steve Fall (guitars) - apart from Acid Test, its members have also been in other popular Toronto bands Danko Jones and Deliuss.

Always pushing forward with their trademark sound while paying homage to their post-punk, grunge, old-school funk and 90s college rock roots, they dish out infectious guitar riffs with a dash of p-funk groove to create positive heavy music recalling the golden days of American college radio.

"'Break You' soars like a goodbye love letter to a toxic person, place or substance; it’s a decree of emancipation - and breaking away from what dictates and captures the human soul. It is an outcry, a battle cry, and finally a freedom cry of intention - all wrapped up in a hardcore punk-metal riff that end with Sabbath-esque overtones," says Lucy Di Santo.

Earlier, ON released the singles 'Blackmail' with video directed and edited by Michael Gucciardi and 'Underdog' with lively video filmed by Lindi Gordon and edited by Gucciardi. With these singles and focus track 'Hereafter', the band has been charting in the Radio Indie Alliance charts consecutively over the past half year.

Written in Toronto and New York, ON guitarist Steve Fall says the 'ON' album is "a document of friendship navigating explores in pain, and hope. Looking at the world with a collaborative effort to document what we see, witness and feel through songwriting and chemistry as a band." Following pre-production recording with Drew Howard at Star Sound Studios in Cape Coral, the band worked with sound engineer Darius Szczepaniak (Sum 41, Black Crowes, Big Sugar, Bare Naked Ladies, Jann Arden) out of Phase One Studios.

In April, ON return to the studio to work on their next album with legendary producer Martin Bisi, famed for his groundbreaking work with Sonic Youth, Swans, Brian Eno, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock, Iggy Pop, Helmet, Africa Bambaataa, Dresden Dolls, Unsane, Cop Shoot Cop and many other notable artists, at his BC Studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

The full 'ON' album is available everywhere online, including SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp, as well as  https://indiestructablerecords.com. Further tour info can be found at  http://bit.ly/3HkBxkV

Slaves to Humanity Release Anthemic New Single "BULLY" on February 24, 2023

Pre-Save "Bully" HERE

Slaves To Humanity will release their new anthemic single "Bully" to all major platforms on February 24, 2023. The single was produced by Trev Lukather (Halestorm, Dorothy, Andrew Hagar).

"From a very young age, I was constantly bullied and attacked by kids who weren’t like me. They would push me around and even beat me when I was around. Bullying was just something that I grew up with, just like many other kids at young ages. That’s where the inspiration for 'Bully' came from, and this song is a 'fuck you' to all the people who think it’s okay to treat others poorly," says the band's vocalist Aidan Amini.

In addition, you can catch Slaves to Humanity at The House of Blues in Anaheim, CA on February 25th in support of the single release!

Slaves to Humanity (STH) is a Sunset Grunge band from Orange County, California. Its members include Aidan Amini on vocals, Pierce Akers on guitar, Shane Ryan on drums, and Nathan Johnson on the bass. Together the bandmates create a sound like no other, mixing the melodic guitars of the late 80s era hard rock bands and the lyrics and vocal sound of the 90s grunge era, as well as throwing modern rock elements all around.

In 2019 they released their first single, “BATTLEGROUND”, which had success on radio stations and streaming platforms alike. Following this release, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the band released “Behind My Back”, which showed even more success. Both singles were the most requested song on KLOS, and received heavy rotation on that major radio station for many months throughout the pandemic.

During the pandemic, the band worked hard on putting together their social media presence, and continue to do so today, showing success on Tiktok and Instagram. The band continues to play shows in Southern California, as well as build their social media presence.

The band appeared on Episode 2 and Episode 10 of the show NO COVER - (The only Music Competition show w/ unsigned artists performing original songs).

Bad Omens slither through boundaries, only to ultimately choke convention in the process. The quartet—Noah Sebastian (vocals), Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson (guitar), Nick Ruffilo (bass), and Nick Folio (drums)—materialize with ghostly atmospherics, striking hooks, and the tingles of sensual high-register harmonies uplifted by cinematic production. Racking up over 250M worldwide streams to date and earning acclaim, the band presents an uncompromising and undeniable vision on their third full-length album, 'THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND' (Sumerian Records).

“Making the record changed us as songwriters and musicians. In many ways, I feel like it set me free as an artist because every decision made in the writing process was for myself, with no fear for anyone else’s expectations of what our third album should sound like. Be it our fans or our record label.”

They’ve always wielded this level of magic though…

The group’s 2016 self-titled debut, 'Bad Omens', yielded fan favorites such as “Glass Houses” and “The Worst In Me” which eclipsed nearly 33 million Spotify streams. On its heels, 2019’s 'Finding God Before God Finds Me' spawned “Dethrone” (21 million Spotify streams) and “Careful What You Wish For”. Along the way, they toured with numerous marquee acts and received tastemaker praise.

After their first headline tour was canceled mid-way at the top of the global pandemic, the band found themselves at home in Los Angeles with plenty of time. Where they absorbed and imparted a different palette of unexpected inspirations. Channeling what the frontman describes at times as a “cursive sound” they embraced newfound confidence and boundlessly loose creativity. Anything went in the studio, and all “rules” were broken. Noah and Jolly wrote, produced, and engineered the music themselves while GRAMMY® Award-nominated producer and songwriter Zakk Cervini (Halsey, Grimes, Poppy, blink-182) lent his talents with the mix and master. Challenging himself, Noah decided to “make a track sampling items around the house, none of which were musical instruments”.

This ultimately became the framework for the first single “THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND”. Claps puncture the icy soundscape as his voice stretches from a breathy moan into an evocative and entrancing hook, breaking from a whisper into the seductive chant, “It wasn’t hard to realize. Love’s the death of peace of mind.” It culminates on a climactic scream uplifted by a distorted crunch.

“The whole record really details the loss of peace of mind,” he explains. “The lyrics in the title track are a little more specific in terms of the conflict at the heart of something more intimate and personal.”

By speaking it aloud, Bad Omens offer a level of comfort and empathy, with a sinister shroud. At the same time, they also give rock music a sexy new shape on 'THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND'.

“Sonically, we want to do something you can’t arrive late or early too,” he leaves off. “You can’t cheat your way to the final act. You have to get on the ride and process it until the end. The songs are meant to be heard from start to finish. We want you to take the whole trip with us.”

Whiskey Myers Return to Red Rocks for Two Night Stand, June 14 & 15

Multi-Platinum Band to Headline June 14 & 15 With Support by Whitey Morgan and Ray Wylie Hubbard Plus The Record Company and Brent Cobb

Tickets Available This Friday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. Local Time via
WhiskeyMyers.com

Following a 2022 Red Rocks Amphitheatre debut that sold out in a single day, genre-bending renegades Whiskey Myers return to the iconic open-air setting for two nights this summer, headlining June 14 with support by Whitey Morgan and Ray Wylie Hubbard and June 15 with support by The Record Company and Brent Cobb.

Presales begin tomorrow, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m. local time, with tickets on sale to the general public this Friday, Feb. 17, at 10 a.m. local time via WhiskeyMyers.com.

“An outlier of alt-country with more thrust, Southern cousin of the Black Keys or spiritual grandchild of Waylon and Willie’s Outlaw Country, Whiskey Myers is currently taking a regional movement global,” declared POLLSTAR in the cover story celebrating the band’s initial outing at the historic venue, adding “Whiskey Myers offers sobering pieces of broken lives that go unseen.”

“Red Rocks had always been a bucket-list venue for us, to the point where we didn’t even go see a show there as fans, because we wanted our first time seeing it to be from the stage as headliners,” reflects guitarist John Jeffers. “For our fans to share that excitement with us the way they did was a magical experience and we can’t wait to do it again – twice – this summer.”

Today’s announcement builds upon the anticipation for Whiskey Myers’ headlining 2023 tour, kicking off this Thursday, Feb. 16, with many dates already sold out. The tour comes on the heels of the band’s 2022 Tornillo Tour which played to nearly 300,000 fans in support of their critically acclaimed album Tornillo, praised by American Songwriter for putting Whiskey Myers “in a league of their own with their signature hard-rocking sound on full display” and released in 2022 via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records with distribution by Thirty Tigers.

Fans will also have a chance to see this signature sound live when the band supports Eric Church on multiple dates of The Outsiders Revival Tour this fall, with Nashville Lifestyles adding, “Southern rock is alive and well on Whiskey Myers’ Tornillo – and it comes with a brassy border-town swagger… Equal parts train songs, tenacious energy, and Tabasco… their lawless musicality burns like the sun.”

For more information on all upcoming dates and to purchase tickets, visit WhiskeyMyers.com and follow on social media @WhiskeyMyers.

About Whiskey Myers
Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers have played more than 2,500 live shows to ever-increasing crowd sizes since their emergence in 2007. In addition to headlining their own sold-out shows from coast to coast at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater and Ryman Auditorium, plus performing at marquee festivals Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, Download and more, the six-piece was also personally selected to open The Rolling Stones’ Chicago stadium show in 2019. Their latest self-produced album, Tornillo, available everywhere now via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, features the No. 17 most-played Americana song of 2022, “John Wayne,” and follows their fifth studio album, Whiskey Myers, which debuted at No. 1 on both the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (No. 3 among new releases). In total, Whiskey Myers have sold more than 1.5 million albums and amassed over 2 billion streams while earning six RIAA Gold & Platinum certifications as an independent band. Known for their high-energy live show and unique sound, the band praised by Esquire as “the real damn deal” has also earned synch success with features (and an on-screen appearance) in Paramount’s hit show “Yellowstone” as well as Netflix series “What/If,” Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and CBS series “SEAL Team.” USA Todaydescribes their sound as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with Rolling Stone noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.”

ROTTEN SOUND Reveals Music Video for New Song, "Nothingness"

The apocalypse is nigh and Finnish grindcore entity ROTTEN SOUND has crafted the perfect soundtrack to accompany humanity’s impending extinction. Aptly titled ‘Apocalypse,’ the band’s eighth studio album is dropping into 2023 with the same blistering speed and chaotic impetus as an asteroid searing through atmosphere and crushing everything upon impact.

Each song delivering abrupt yet violent aftershocks, delivering an auditory assault with its unstoppable, seismic force. The band is now sharing the vicious second single, "Nothingness," along with a music video, which can be found below.

ROTTEN SOUND comments on the track: "'Nothingness' is one of the shorter tracks on the album, continuing about the same theme with 'Suburban Bliss,' about how we sometimes get lost in the system while performing through our days."

'Apocalypse' is due on March 31, 2023!

In addition, ROTTEN SOUND is now launching pre-orders for 'Apocalypse,' which cab be found HERE.

The album can be pre-saved across streaming services HERE.

ROTTEN SOUND have firmly established themselves as one of the leading acts of the grindcore scene. Expertly wielding the fierce brutality and massive aggression of their genre, the Finns add intelligent songwriting, effective arrangements, and musical proficiency as well as subtle death metal elements to their sound.

Their forthcoming album ‘Apocalypse’ embodies those aforementioned virtues to the point. The full length delivers eighteen short sharp chops that hit home perfectly.

ROTTEN SOUND was conceived in the city of Vaasa, Finland by guitarist Mika Aalto in 1993, who was soon joined by vocalist and word-smith Keijo Niinimaa. The duo still remains in place, while the original members in all other positions have been replaced several times until today.

The Finns can field an impressive catalogue of now eight highly acclaimed studio albums, eight EPs, three split singles, a single, and a live DVD. Furthermore, ROTTEN SOUND have already conquered the stages of all major metal and hardcore oriented festivals and also toured in regular intervals alongside such renowned acts as MALEVOLENT CREATION, PHOBIA, DISFEAR CARCASS, MUNICIPAL WASTE, EXHUMED, NAPALM DEATH, and PIG DESTROYER – among many others.

SUNROAD IS SET TO RELEASE THEIR 9TH ALBUM SUNESTHESIA THROUGH DEKO ENTERTAINMENT ON MARCH 10TH

There is no doubt about saying that the band from Goiás, Sunroad, is one of the most relevant names in the melodic Hard Rock/Heavy Metal scene in all of South America. After all, they have a 20-year career, eight albums released, concerts in various regions of Brazil and other countries in South America, alongside great artists such as Joe Lynn Turner, Petra, Stryper, L.A. Guns, Whitecross, Narnia, etc.

The band’s 8th studio album and first to feature Steph Honde (Scream Taker, Hollywood Monsters) “Walking The Hemispheres”, was nominated for the Dynamite Independent Music Award as one of the “Best Rock Albums of 2021”. Soon after the band started work on Sunesthesia. The album has a very fine and sophisticated melodic hard rock sound, such as UFO, Whitesnake, Michael Schenker Group to name a few. Artwork was created by Tristan Greatrex (UFO, MSG, Vinnie Moore, Lionheart, etc…), and the album features guests such as Ronnie Romero (MSG, Rainbow), Carl Dixon(Coney Hatch, The Guess Who, April Wine), Michael T. Ross (Hardline, Lita Ford). The first single “Speed Warning #1” features vocals by Rainbow vocalist Ronnie Romero.

Watch lyric video below:

As drummer Fred Mika states, “Speed Warning #1, as the name says, is one of the fastest and louder Sunroad songs ever, we wanted a very energetic song to be the album opening track, so we worked in a way to provoke something with such strong feeling from the listeners. I had an idea for classical intro and then, and then sudden fast riffs come, as well Steph composed the guitar harmonies and those fast, louder riffs and catchy choruses.”
The album has 12 tracks in total and features a host of guests to add to the core line up of Steph Honde - vocals, keyboards, guitars, Van Alexandre - lead guitars, JP Costa - rhythm guitars, vocals, Gui N Silva - bass guitars, and Fred Mika – drums.  As Mika continues, “Also, we had the idea of contacting prominent artists everywhere to take part on this, as Chilian singer, Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, Sunstorm, MSG), which divides vocals on duet with Steph. Also, American keyboardist Michael T Ross (Lita Ford, Raiding Rock Vault, Hardline), Canadian bassist Ronnie Robson (Hollywood Monsters) and Brazilian lead guitarist Rafael Milhomem (BaRok, ex-Sunroad). I guess with this all we got perfect timing on captive vibrations from many good musicians from everywhere.”

Plain White T's Share "Spaghetti Tattoo" Video

The Plain White T's are back with a new single and video. "Spaghetti Tattoo" is an acoustic love song in which frontman Tom Higgenson recounts a memorable first date. The video finds the band appearing as puppets, with scenes that pay homage to famous moments from film history.

It's a dreamy, airy track propelled by lush harmonizing and understated emotion. It's also deceptively simple — gentle strumming, percussion that mimics a heartbeat, and Higgenson's heartfelt vocals. But its energy and relatability can fill the room. It's truly a feel good song about how "it feels good not to know."

Watch it below.

"I went on a great first date with a girl I'd been talking to and DM'ng with for a while," says Higgenson. "We laughed and drank and got lost in the moment, until we realized that we were the last two people in the restaurant! It felt so good to be out again after those crazy last couple years, and the date left me filled with excitement and optimism about love and life. So the very next day, I grabbed my guitar and wrote this song. She had a spaghetti tattoo on her arm, which was such a fun and silly detail, so I had to include that in the song. It's definitely a song about noticing and enjoying the little things."

The Plain White T's have been in the news lately with a beautifully heartwarming story of Higgenson performing their signature smash "Hey There Delilah" bedside for a cancer-stricken fan who was named after the track. Read more at CNN, PEOPLE, and Newsweek.

MÉLANCOLIA - Sign To Nuclear Blast + Release Music Video For "HORROR_ETHEREAL"

From under the veil of obscurity emerges Melbourne-based deathcore group MÉLANCOLIA. After establishing themselves just last year with their debut single "Horror_Ethereal", today the band announce their signing to both Nuclear Blast (World excluding AUS/NZ) and Greyscale Records (Australia and New Zealand).

MÉLANCOLIA may be fresh out the gates but they're miles from the start line. The four-piece have crafted a unique sound that has already catapulted them to new heights. "To be backed this early in our career by two powerhouse record labels should tell you everything you need to know," says the band. "Our eyes are set on the world, watch us take it."

The quartet will take their place as main support for Gravemind on Friday, April 14 at Stay Gold, Melbourne. Presented by What We Did On The Weekend, Mélancolia will be joined by Vilify and Body Prison, where they'll showcase a collection of relentless unreleased tracks. Tickets are on sale now!

Initially unleashed last February, “Horror_Ethereal” is Mélancolia’s debut offering, introducing nightmarish settings, CRADLE OF FILTH-inspired fits, and harrowing visuals. Releasing independently, the single collected tens of thousands of digital streams under their own steam. Wall Of Sound concluded: “With blackened deathcore blast-beats, retching high vocals, and theatrical sonic breakdowns, this band will be one to watch, seriously."

MÉLANCOLIA echoes a tormented entity trapped within the claws of despair, angst, and unnerving melancholy. Like messengers of darkness, Alex Hill takes his place at the forefront as vocalist, Joshua Taafe and Billy Morris join the fold as guitarists with Mason Page on drums.

Launching in 2022, MÉLANCOLIA is a melodic blackened deathcore that melds elements from the depths of industrial goth and nü-metal with its pummeling foundations, resulting in what can only be described as sonic horror.

Storming through the gates of 2023 with a vengeance, MÉLANCOLIA played their first-ever show with THY ART IS MURDER on their Decade Of Hate Australian Tour in January alongside Starve and Justice For The Damned.

As a sign of what's to come, the band look towards a future equipped with heavyweight reinforcements as they join the Nuclear Blast and Greyscale Records families as well as fly under the wing of Future History Management (SLEEP TOKEN, LOATHE).

Horror_Ethereal” is out now and streaming everywhere via Nuclear Blast and Greyscale Records.
