Today, Philadelphia, PA band Kaonashi released their highly anticipated debut full-length, Dear Lemon House, You Ruined Me: Senior Year, on Equal Vision Records/Unbeaten Records. The concept album follows the character Jamie, who was first introduced on the band’s Why Did You Do It? EP, through Lemon House High and the different people they interact with. From their first day of school, a romantic relationship with Casey, and the turmoil that comes with being an American teenager, the eleven tracks on the album tell a unique, emotionally turbulent story in the world Kaonashi has created.

The heavy storyline on the album is accompanied by an expansive sound, building off of the band’s self-coined genre of “emo mathcore.” While math rock-driven moments and cathartic lyrics are still prominent, the band adds in elements of post-hardcore, progressive rock, and even an acoustic ballad, making for a diverse listen. Songs like “Market Street (Chardonnay, Diamonds, & Me)” and “Run Away Jay” are a force to be reckoned with, weaving intricate guitars and hard-hitting drums, while “Fuck Temple University” and “The Underdog I: Blue Pop” balance the franticness of Kaonashi with more melodic moments.

The writing process was a collaborative experience as the group locked themselves away in a cabin in Maine for two weeks, later returning back to the state to record with producer Evan Sammons. Among the band’s groove-heavy chaos found throughout Dear Lemon House, You Ruined Me: Senior Year, there is a clear, resounding message that Kaonashi hopes their audience will take to heart: It’s all about listening. TOUCH RELEASES NEW VIDEO FOR “LET IT COME” FROM THEIR COMEBACK ALBUM "TOMORROW NEVER COMES" AND RE-ISSUE THEIR DEBUT AND TOUCH II DIGITIALLY THROUGH DEKO ENTERTAINMENT WITH BONUS MATERIAL.

Touch was the first band to play at the inaugural Monsters of Rock Festival at Castle Donington in 1980 along with Rainbow, Scorpions, Judas Priest and Saxon. A live version of their hit "Don't You Know What Love Is" appeared on the compilation LP Monsters of Rock, documenting the performances at the festival. Touch's first album was released on Atco Records and their first singles, "Don't You Know What Love Is" and "When The Spirit Moves You" charted on the Billboard Hot 100. Their follow-up album was recorded in 1982 and produced by 2021 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Todd Rundgren, The record never came out and Touch disbanded thereafter.

The original band have now reformed after almost 40 years to create the new album "Tomorrow Never Comes", which is already being hailed as their best work to date and a triumphant return to their classic AOR sound. They have just released a lyric video for their second single “Let It Come”. Keyboardist Mark Mangold had this to say about the making of this new video, “Feels like déjà vu all over again.” Guitarist Craig Brooks continues, “The things you see when you ain’t got a gun”. Doug adds, “I’ll have the shark sandwich, please, Toasted.” Glenn concludes, “It’s not over till it’s over”.

To celebrate this renewed success the band have teamed up again with Deko Entertainment to officially put out their highly successful 1980 debut album Touch and the 1982 follow up Touch II digitally. Both releases come with bonus live recordings and demos from that time period.

Following yet more official appreciation, as acknowledged by the presentation of the German Record Critics’ Award, for their current album Genesis XIX (having garnered the prize once before with its predecessor Decision Day in 2016) and prior to their upcoming 40th band anniversary next year, Sodom have rarely been as energetic as in spring 2021.

Despite cancelled shows, despite the Covid-19 lockdown, despite the many imponderabilities that these strange times bring about. In a phase when other bands appear to remain stuck in anguish, 20 August 2021 will see Tom Angelripper and band membersFrank Blackfire (guitar), Yorck Segatz (guitar) and Toni Merkel (drums) release their brand-new EP Bombenhagel on Steamhammer/SPV, available on CD, 12” vinyl and for digital download.

“Originally we had planned to bring out the record in time for this year’s summer festival season, including a sticker with all confirmed tour dates. Of course, the way it looks at the moment, all festivals will be postponed until 2022. But the EP will be released anyway, as a sign of life. As a signal to our fans: We’re still around! The story continues,” explains Tom Angelripper.

Metallic hardcore group Tooth and Claw released their debut full-length Dream of Ascension today via Good Fight Music. The relatively new group of veteran musicians formed just last year to delve into new avenues of aggression, while mixing hardcore and death metal. Their debut effort achieves that mission in spades, exploring the duality of human existence through a harsh sonic onslaught that is full of surprises. While the band stays on the attack throughout the nine tracks that make up Dream of Ascension, they set themselves apart with a haunting atmosphere, adding an unexpected but welcome layer to the dynamics found on the album.

Speaking on their debut, vocalist Daniel Austin says:
“While we clearly set out to be a “heavy” band, we had ambition to make this a band that would at least flirt with brief ethereal soundscapes, not just bludgeon you with chunky riffs the entire time. Hence the synth parts, hence the chanting and singing parts, hence the flourishes of melody all throughout the record. Tooth and Claw was not meant to be one thing–not musically, and not lyrically either.”

Formed during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders of Spring 2020, Tooth and Claw features Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis, Sect), Daniel Austin (Die Young), James Chang (Undying, Catharsis, Sect), and Cameron Joplin (Magnitude) exploring new realms of aggression. On their debut album, Dream of Ascension, Tooth and Claw skirt the typical tropes found in hardcore by mixing their bludgeoning attacks with sinister melodies, achieving a balance of innovation and pure aggression. Dream of Ascension is due out May 21st through Good Fight Music.

EMPORERS & ANGELS released their debut, self-titled album today via Curtain Call Records. The band will be playing Summer Bash Indiana on July 10th at the Waterbowl in Muncie, Indiana.

The band states, "This record is a long time coming. Such a journey to release this and we couldn't be happier to finally share our passion! Welcome to the Fray..."

Adds Matthew Nevitt, the band's vocalist, "I have battled insecurities, hatred and confusion for longer than I know. Depression took hold of me without warning. I was in a funk! I was battling an invisible force pulling me deeper from reality and my happiness. Crazy thing is, all this happened while life seemed grand! I dug deep within to provide the darkness, TRUTH and the helplessness I was drowning in. I also shine light and encouragement knowing it wasn’t a doctor. It wasn’t a prescription. No! It was strength found within. I accepted EVERYTHING! My faults, disappointments, failures, anxiety, even faced self hatred head on! I did my best to let down my guard to use my insecurity as fuel to write. I journeyed a personal intervention! "

CHRISTIAN DEATH Reissues 'Atrocities' on LP + CD

Gothic death rock pioneers CHRISTIAN DEATH will be reissuing their dark 1986 opus, 'Atrocities,' on both CD and vinyl format via Season of Mist on July 9! In addition to being available in standard black vinyl, the LP will also be available on a limited edition sun yellow 12" vinyl (33 rpm).

This is part of an ongoing series of vinyl reissues of Christian Death's acclaimed catalog via Season of Mist. Previously, the label reissued LPs for the band's highly influential 'Catastrophe Ballet' (1984) as well as 'The Root of All Evilution,' 'Ashes,' 'The Scriptures,' 'American Inquisition,' and 'Sex and Drugs and Jesus Christ.' Founded in Los Angeles in 1979 by Rozz Williams, the hugely-influential band trail-blazed the American goth and death-rock movement with their debut album, 'Only Theatre of Pain' (1982) and genre-defining 'Catastrophe Ballet' (1984) and 'Ashes' (1985). Of these, 'Ashes' is a true testament to the CHRISTIAN DEATH legacy, as it marks the final appearance of the classic band lineup. 'Ashes' features the final recordings of founder Rozz Williams alongside current CHRISTIAN DEATH main-man Valor Kand, vocalist-keyboardist Gitane Demone and drummer David Glass before Williams' untimely demise in 1998.

About 'Atrocities'

Recorded at Rockfield Studios Monmouth, Wales, UK (famous for recording "Bohemian Rhapsody" with Queen)

The Studio features several buildings in a remote farm village, one of which, according to local tradition, is allegedly haunted, and as experienced by certain members of Christian Death.

London label Dimple Discs has announced the signing of Irish psychedelic dreampop outfit Keeley to its roster, not long after releasing the critically acclaimed new album from Cathal Coughlan (The Fatima Mansions, Microdisney). The label will release her debut 'Brave Warrior' EP digitally on June 18 with a physical release planned for autumn with a long-player scheduled for 2022.

Hailing from Dublin and fronted by vocalist and guitarist Keeley, the band includes Marty Canavan on keyboards, Martin Fagan on bass and Pete Duff on drums.

This four-track collection was produced and engineered by Alan Maguire, who mixed it together with Keeley, and mastered by Anthony Chapman (Franz Ferdinand, DEVO, Cathal Coughlan, Jesus Jones, Wolfhounds).

Lead track 'The Glitter and the Glue' is a blistering buffet of psychedelic rock, post-punk and the fuzzier, more frantic end of the dreampop spectrum. The shortest, fastest and most ecstatic explosion of energy released by Keeley to date, this is a hook-laden, melodic monster of a song with very unusual lyrical content. It is already receiving Irish airplay from Newstalk FM, Radio Nova, 98FM and has now been added to the playlists of Dublin City FM, KCLR 96FM and 8Radio.

The 'Brave Warrior' EP demonstrates the multi-faceted songwriting smarts of one of Ireland’s most talked-about emerging bands, ranging from this upbeat lead track to more spacey, darkly-dreamy electronic offerings, drenched in drama and soaked in sadness. Keeley pursues an unusual conceptual thread, conceived several years ago, focusing on German tourist Inga Maria Hauser, whose murder in Northern Ireland in 1988 remains unsolved.

For the past five years, the band's frontwoman and songwriter Keeleyhas been publishing a blog with a devoted global following - 'The Keeley Chronicles' - documenting the many facets of this unique, harrowing and mystifying case, correcting the falsely published details of Inga’s life and piecing together what really happened in the final days on her trip. By working in close quarters with Northern Irish police, senior politicians and Inga’s legal representatives in Northern Ireland in concerted efforts to advance and resolve this notorious case, she is keeping the memory of this beautiful and mysterious soul alive.

"Inga is the subject of everything I write. From the moment I first read about her exactly five years ago now, her cause became a burning obsession for me. Since that day I haven’t written a song about anyone or anything else... I consider myself a concept artist and my purpose is to give Inga a voice," says Keeley.

In October 2020, Keeley released the debut single 'Last Words’, topping Newstalk FM’s airplay chart, getting playlisted by RTE Radio 1 and 8Radio, and attracting support from radio in multiple countries. Picked by legendary broadcaster Tom Dunne as one of his ‘Top Tracks of 2020’, it was listed at #12 in Radio Nova's ’Top 15 Irish Songs of 2020’ and, upon its release, she became the subject of full-page articles in the Belfast Telegraph and Derry Post newspapers, a frankly unheard-of feat for an indie artist on their debut single.

Dimple Discs is a new Peckham label with deep Irish music connections, founded in 2018 by Damian O'Neill of The Undertones and Brian O'Neill, initially as a vehicle for Damian's solo projects. It has now grown to encompass such artists as The Undertones, Cathal Coughlan, Kev Hopper, Eileen Gogan, Dragon Welding, Nick Haeffner and Baby Shakes with forthcoming archive material from Microdisney and Fatima Mansions.

THE VOICE OF “EYE OF THE TIGER” DAVE BICKLER HITS THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT AND COMMENCES WORK ON SECOND SOLO ALBUM

The voice on one of the most instantly recognizable and celebrated rock anthems of all-time recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to reprise his singing role in this iconic song, this time aimed at the recovery of the Tiger recently on the loose in Texas. Dave was contacted by his label Deko Entertainment early Monday morning after the show had reach out to them to get Dave to participate in the opening of Monday night’s show. Dave started his musical career as lead singer of the 1970s rock group Jamestown Massacre (best known for the Billboard Top 100 Song, “Summer Sun”) and doing commercial jingle work in Chicago, Dave was the lead singer of Survivor from 1978-1984 and 1993-1999, and co-lead singer 2013-2014. “Eye of the Tiger” - the theme song for the hit film ‘Rocky III,’ topped the Billboard charts for six weeks and won a Grammy Award for 'Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.'

Dave released his first ever solo album ‘Darklight’ in 2019, the ten-track album recalls the singer’s classic rock roots with a modern sound - and features contributions by the likes of Ryan Hoyle (Collective Soul) on drums, Brad Smith (Blind Melon) on bass, Grammy nominated producer Steve DeAcutis (Vanilla Fudge, Corey Glover, Vinnie Moore, Overkill, etc.), and Grammy Award winning mastering engineer Alan Douches (Fleetwood Mac, Yes, Mastodon, Monster Magnet, etc.).

Speaking exclusively with Metal Sucks about the new track, Hannes states, “This song is probably one of the catchiest songs I’ve written so far. Still, you can clearly hear my signature. About HANNES:

Hannes Grossmann is a drummer, writer, sound engineer, and music producer from Nuremberg, Germany. He made a name in the metal scene as drummer for the band NECROPHAGIST, playing on their groundbreaking album 'Epitaph'. Hannes was also the drummer and main songwriter for German tech-death outfit OBSCURA, producing the genre-defining albums 'Cosmogenesis' (2009) and 'Omnivium' (2011). In 2011, Hannes became part of Blotted Science, feat. bandmates Alex Webster and Ron Jarzombek. The band released their critically acclaimed album 'The Animation Of Entomology', on which

they synchronized music with movie sequences.

In 2014, Hannes formed his own band ALKALOIDfeat. former and current members of Necrophagist, Obscura, Aborted, Dark Fortress, and Noneuclid. The band released two albums, which Hannes also recorded and mixed. Hannes also participated on Hate Eternal's album 'Upon Desolate Sands', released in 2018. Hannes is also an active member of Swiss Extreme Metal legends TRIPTYKON. In 2019, the band released the orchestral live album 'Requiem' together with Metropole Orkest.

On his solo albums, Grossmann continues his work and writing style once started in OBSCURA. So far he has released the albums 'The Radial Covenant' (2014), 'The Crypts Of Sleep' (2016), 'Apophenia' (2019), and now the brand new album 'To Where The Light Retreats' (2021) independently.

Hannes does session work (live and studio) for many bands and artists in various styles, and is an active part of the drumming community, often playing at clinics and drum festivals (i.e., Meinl Drum Festival, Adams Drum Fest, among others). He also wrote the instruction book 'Extreme Metal Drumming', published by Hal Leonard Co. His instructional DVD 'Creative Concepts For The Modern Metal Drummer' is also considered a standard in the genre of metal drumming educational works. In addition to staying busy as a drummer, Hannes works in recording, mixing, and mastering at his own studio, MORDOR SOUNDS, where he produces not only his solo work, but also bands from all around the world.

Musicality is the connective tissue binding and bridging Ra’s past to its present. It is also responsible for a sound so enigmatic it continues transcending time, resonating with a fan base that has yet to allow Ra to release its melodic grip on them. That grip is a culmination of years fraught with trials and triumphs and many lessons learned; however, perseverance and a passionate resolve pushed Ra far past its genesis to become a band still relevant in today’s ever-changing musical landscape.

In the 7 years since Ra’s last studio release, Sahaj has been hard at work replicating the formula for his success by producing other artists while the rest of the band has pursued independent projects; however, collectively, they feel now is the time for a comeback. Guitarist Lasse Pyykkö comments on the new album and track: "It is with utter excitement that we premiere the first track off our new album 'The Tritonus Bell!' There are definitely some new flavours added to the mix, and 'Blood Ornaments' comes with some of our most intriguing ingredients yet - and a bloody side taste. There’s a contrast between death/doom misery and head-bangable heavy metal riffs like never heard before in Hooded Menace´s music, making 'Blood Ornaments' my favourite track from the album.

"Obviously a lot of inspiration for 'The Tritonus Bell' comes from the usual suspects Candlemass, Paradise Lost, and Trouble, but also classic 80´s heavy metal such as Mercyful Fate, King Diamond, Dio, and Ozzy Osbourne. Even if you can’t always put your finger on it, they all definitely played a big role in why 'The Tritonus Bell' turned out the way it did. When it comes to mixing and mastering, we had the pleasure of working with King Diamond guitarist Andy LaRocque/Sonic Train Studios, who made sure everything would sound great, and I can honestly say I’ve never been more satisfied with the results sound- and music-wise."

With the immaculate songwriting skills and the perfect balance between harsh death metal fueled outbursts and exquisite melodic melancholy, HOODED MENACE unleash skeletal horror and somber despair onto their craving audience with 'The Tritonus Bell'!

HOODED MENACE were formed in Joensuu, Finland in 2007 by guitarist Lasse Pyykkö, who had also performed in the Finnish cult death metal band PHLEGETHON. The band has always avowed to the strong influence by early CANDLEMASS and CATHEDRAL as well as PARADISE LOST, AUTOPSY, ASPHYX, and WINTER. Their lyrics are often inspired by the classic 1970’s Spanish horror movie series ‘The Blind Dead’.

HOODED MENACE recorded a 2-track demo, ‘The Eyeless Horde’ in 2007, which was released on 7″ the following year. Their debut album ‘Fulfill the Curse’ was released in 2008 and the highly acclaimed sophomore full-length ‘Never Cross the Dead’ came out in 2010. With a penchant for classic vinyl, the Finns also released several split singles and EP's, for example with ASPHYX and COFFINS, before delivering their full lengths 'Effigies of Evil' (2012) and ‘Darkness Drips Forth’ (2015). HOODED MENACE remained in a highly creative mode during their latest full length ‘Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed’ which was released in 2018 via Season of Mist.

Throughout the years, HOODED MENACE toured in Europe and North America, and performed at many major metal festivals such as Hellfest, Roadburn, Maryland Deathfest, Tuska, and Party San Open Air among others.

With their upcoming sixth album 'The Tritonus Bell', HOODED MENACE threw in more classic 80´s Heavy Metal, such as KING DIAMOND and MERCYFUL FATE, resulting to the most up tempo (but never fast) HOODED MENACEalbum with the catchiest song material to date!

Dave Wyndorf says about the birth of A Better Dystopia:

“We all agreed that we would be bored out of our minds within a month of lockdown. MONSTER MAGNET loves the road. It’s a lifestyle. So, I considered our options. Rather than panhandle on the internet, hawking masks and Zoom-rocking practice sessions for dollars, I suggested we record a “bunker record”. A total DIY affair (band only) recorded and mixed in Bob Pantella’s small but potent Freak Shop Studios/rehearsal space right here in New Jersey. But what to record?

I didn’t feel much like writing, but working on anything was better than watching the news as hospitals filled up, people died, and American politics went bat-shit crazy. The world roared “Dystopia! Apocalypse! Revolution!”. I’d heard those words before, and they brought to mind my childhood in the late 60’s/early 70’s… and the music… and short playlist of songs (just one of many) that I’d been carrying around with me on my whatever device to listen to before shows. Of course, these tunes have also been in my head for more or less my whole life. These were not the popular hits of the time. This was like a playlist from the 4th dimension… strange bits of musical obscurity, mostly dredged up from that inglorious and freaky “twilight zone” time that preceded Arena Rock, Heavy Metal, Reggae and Disco. A no-man’s land of hard rock that still had remnants of psychedelia and garage punk but had abandoned any notion of “flower power” or frat house fun. And of course, they rocked.

Yeah, these songs were it.”

Wyndorf is at the top of his game on A Better Dystopia, delivering each lyric in his own inimitable style, and musicians Phil Caivano, Bob Pantella, Garrett Sweeney and Alec Morton own the sound – vintage and old school, dense and heavy, with searing fuzz leads and pounding bass and drums all played in a deft style that's almost been lost in modern music. The album opens with “The Diamond Mine”, as Dave Wyndorf recites a classic monologue by Dave Diamond, an American radio DJ whose programs in the late 60’s and early 70’s helped popularize many psychedelic and acid rock bands. At this point the real trip begins, as the opening chords of the Hawkwind classic “Born To Go” gear up for launch. Tracks like standout “Mr. Destroyer” (Poo-Bah) spur visions of some untold Freak revolution – or perhaps dinosaurs battling on a burning planet at the end of time – creating a perfect blend of hard rock and psychedelia. Feverish “Motorcycle (Straight To Hell)” (Table Scraps) is pure punk fury of the old school tradition, evoking a cross between Iggy Pop and Motörhead as Wyndorf wails "I'm gonna drive it straight to HELL!" Falling even further down the mind-bending rabbit hole, Magnet offers their stunning, whirlwind take on the often-overlooked hard rock classic "Learning To Die" (Dust) and a masterful version the Stooges meets Goth epic, "Solid Gold Hell" (The Scientists). The album closes with a bonus nuclear cover of Morgen’s “Welcome To The Void”, inviting you to restart the ride again and again.

Ukrainian Psychedelic Prog-Rockers SINOPTIK have launched the pre-order for their highly anticipated new album 'The Calling', as well as releasing their fourth single from the record, titled "The Call". Filmed at the "Museum of Cosmonautics dedicated to Sergei Korolev" in the city of Zhitomir, Ukraine, "The Call" clocks in at over 9 minutes, and serves as proof that Sinoptik are not just here to rock, but also have a message in their music.

Speaking on the themes lyrically and visually in the new video, the band shares: "'The Call', as well as the album title 'The Calling', is dedicated to the one who calls and to the one who hears the call. This song is about the trueness and belief that continues to create peace and

Vocalist/guitarist Dmitriy Afanasiev also remarks about the location where the video was filmed: "It took us a long time to figure out how to maximize the conceptual depth of the song this long without involving Netflix. We decided to focus on the places nearby and truly deserve the iconic status. In this case, such a place is the 'Museum of Cosmonautics dedicated to Sergei Korolev'. Space exploration is an important part of our country's culture, and we believe that this museum was the perfect place to remind the whole world where human space exploration began. People have stopped looking into the night sky, they've stopped dreaming ... and we want to remind them that this is vital for our civilization to move forward."

Working hand in hand with The Museum of Cosmonautics, the band decided to release the video for "The Call" on International Museum Day to amplify the importance of Art and Science working together and promote cultural development in the Ukraine well as worldwide.

OBSIDIOUS sign to Season of Mist and release first track!

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of OBSIDIOUS! The extreme metal outfit will be releasing their debut album via the label early 2022. In celebration, OBSIDIOUS release a first new track which can now be viewed via the official Season of Mist YouTube channel HERE.

In April 2020 guitarist Rafael Trujillo, bassist Linus Klausenitzer and drummer Sebastian Lanser decided to move on from their former band OBSCURA to continue their musical path with the completely new band OBSIDIOUS. Free from former boundaries, OBSIDIOUS merge extreme metal with other genres of music into a unique style that people will somehow find familiar, but haven‘t heard yet. Together with their singer Javi Perera they set out to create a musical evolution: With a fresh name, reaching for new fan groups utilizing modern marketing ideas. OBSIDIOUS’ band members have many facets and influences to build upon, using virtuosity & technique to write great songs. 

Rafael Trujillo, Linus Klausenitzer and Sebastian Lanser built a strong bond after years of worldwide touring and recording together with OBSCURA. With their last record “Diluvium”, that was primarily composed by the trio, the band celebrated their biggest success to date. When Hail The Sun entered the studio to record what would become New Age Filth, they knew they were setting out to make their most collaborative and diverse album yet. Consisting of Donovan Melero (vocals/drums), Aric Garcia (guitar), John Stirrat (bass) and Shane Gann (guitar), the band spent a month living in an apartment attached to producer Kris Crummett’s (A Lot Like Birds, Nova Charisma, Dance Gavin Dance) studio which provided a much different experience from the creation of prior albums. The ten songs on New Age Filth showcase the band’s post-hardcore roots blended with elements of alternative and progressive rock, proving the band’s ability to be extremely technical in instrumentation while also unleashing some of the catchiest hooks they’ve ever created. The lyrics, penned by Melero, center around the theme of reflection, weaving through painful and emotional experiences of love, cynicism, and touching on how awful humans can be to one another.

Having sold through nine vinyl variants of the album and seeing an overwhelming response from fans and critics alike since the release of the album, New Age Filth marks a milestone for Hail The Sun. As they prepare to hit the stage performing these songs for the first time live, they are eager to give their audience a dynamic and memorable experience.
