AXEL RUDI PELL to Release New Covers Album "Diamonds Unlocked II" in July!

German hard rock guitar wizard AXEL RUDI PELL has finished recording and mixing his latest album “Diamonds Unlocked II”, set for release on July 30th 2021 on Steamhammer/SPV. The successor to last year’s top 5 album “Sign Of The Times” is the follow-up to his 2007 cover recording “Diamonds Unlocked”. Pell’s carefully considered decision not to release brand-new material for the first time in almost 15 years is mainly based on the ongoing pandemic and current restrictions on live concerts. The 61-year-old explains that “it makes no sense at all to put out new songs that we will not be able to perform live.”

AXEL RUDI PELL had been flirting with the concept of “Diamonds Unlocked II” for two or three years, and he’s also aware of the vast number of cover versions currently floating on the Internet, which he sees as a challenge. Of course it depends on the selection and variety of the material, but first and foremost it is the transformation of each individual track that matters. Experimental Sludge outfit ERDVE will be releasing their new album 'Savigaila' via Season of Mist on July 23! The band has also revealed the album art, tracklist, and additional details, which can be found below. The band comments: "'Lavondėmės' in the Lithuanian language is a word describing Livor mortis, also known as hypostasis, which is an accumulation of stagnated blood causing a purplish red skin colour of a deceased body. This song and video is a metaphor for inner stagnation and an overwhelming effort to overcome it. The idea is closely related to the main theme of the album 'Savigaila' which translates as 'self-pity.' The visual is portraying a sense of helplessness in a search for meaning through an endless mind clutter. Being obstructed by senseless actions, it is difficult to maintain directional movement and therefore even more difficult to accept responsibility for your own self, being able to create your own meaning to break free from stagnation and therefore achieve happiness."

Crushing insanity drips atmospherically out of every crack on 'Savigaila', experimenting with elements from hardcore, sludge, and black metal.

When ERDVE formed in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius in 2016, the band had a clear aesthetic vision of creating a unique heavy sound that experimented with elements from hardcore, sludge, and black metal – yet was not bound by any unwritten “rules” surrounding those genres. ERDVE’s members had already been active in their local scene and performed in various acts such as NYKSTA, SRAIGĖS EFEKTAS, and SPIRALE. A self-made tape version of their debut made its rounds in underground circles and the Lithuanians received the rare honour of being picked straight out of the dreaded demo pile by virtue of their musical strength and compelling quality.

The core ideas behind ERDVE are translated into lyrics, visuals, and sound by in-depth reflection on concepts such as domestic violence, utmost disgusting behaviour, crimes against humanity, and extremism. Their debut album 'Vaitojimas', released in 2018 by Season of Mist, delivered exactely that!

The new offering 'Savigaila', which translates as "self-pity", revolves around overcoming the numbness within the great challenges of unsettling reality, and accepting them as they are. “Third strike, this album is our punch to the world disarray! The most aggressive album we’ve done so far indicates our current intentions! The main concept of Inertia deals with how financial interests act against the lives of everyday normal people, no matter where you come from, since profit knows no ethics and nationalities.

We become lab rats and we struggle in our everyday life while at the same time that extreme minority that runs the financial interests see people like numbers and value our lives like ants. These are matters that concern and annoy me and I had to get them out of my chest.”

Instrumental intro “Hydrogen” stirs things up before kicking in with hard-hitting title track “Inertia”, evoking a truly thunderous verse and, propelled by blasting drums, leads into an undeniably catchy chorus, while the “Quantum Leap Zero”-trilogy conveys very intense and dramatic events that occured in Greece in 2015: Suppression, rise/revolution and huge defeat in the end. Beginning with “Quantum Leap Zero I: Torque Control”, SCAR OF THE SUN unveils a whole new instrumental facet of the record, splicing their soundscapes with distinctively desolate vibes. “Quantum Leap Zero II: Transition To Turbulence”, on the other hand, calls for an untamed storm to annihilate everything, followed by atmospheric “Oxygen”, smashing “The Fallible Experiment” and poignant trilogy-closer “Quantum Leap Zero III: Thrust”. Inertia ends with “Anastasis” (Greek for “resurrection”), an intense track about the terrible pain of losing someone you love. Former Styx founding member Dennis DeYoung is back with the second volume of his fond farewell to recorded music, "26 East, Vol. 2.” As with the preceding volume, "26 East, Vol. 2" once again hints strongly at DeYoung's rock roots with Styx. The production and musicianship are EPIC, and those timeless vocal arrangements get delivered in spades. A fitting goodbye and a final signature on an outstanding body of work which will stand the test of time.

Vol. 2 picks up where Vol. I left off, with DeYoung mining similar musical territory. With direct links to the classic Styx sound, as only he can provide, along with some straight ahead rock. The breadth of the album is illustrated on tracks like 'The Last Guitar Hero', with help from the Houdini of guitarists Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave), to two signature DeYoung ballads, 'Your Saving Grace' and 'Made For Each Other' to the piece de resistance, the first single, the 'Isle of Misanthrope', an eight minute masterpiece with a surprise finish.

DeYoung has previously stated that "26 East” will mark his retirement from the world of recorded music. It was thanks to Frontiers President and Head of A&R, Serafino Perugino, that given the abundance of material, Dennis agreed to split the album in two parts. This second half starts where the previous one left off and sees DeYoung collaborate again with fellow Chicagoan and Grammy Award winning songwriter Jim Peterik. The process that brought forth these two albums in the first place started when Peterik, DeYoung’s friend and neighbor, sent a song to Dennis that he thought would suit his vocals perfectly. That song became the catalyst for ten more collaborations from the pair, of which four appear on this new release.

"The last album was supposed to be my final album, but there were so many songs written that Serafino [Perugino] of Frontiers suggested dividing it into two albums rather than one,” DeYoung states.

“26 East” was the address where DeYoung grew up in Roseland, IL on the far south side of Chicago. Across the street lived the Panozzo twins, John and Chuck, who along with DeYoung would go on to form the nucleus of Styx in DeYoung's basement in 1962.

French black metal formation REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER are now releasing the full live performance of their set from Roadburn Redux's online festival. The band played their 2020 full-length 'Ascension' in full.

France's REGARDE LES HOMMES TOMBER rose from the shadows in 2013 with a massive self-titled album released through Les Acteurs De L'Ombre Productions. The band instantly imprinted its vision on the metal community: an epic blend of atmospheric black metal, sludge and death metal spreading out a dark universe inspired by the sacred scriptures. 

In 2015, the second full length 'Exile' came out and intensified the quintet’s music, bringing in more extreme influences and developing a dramatic sense of narration through cunningly balanced songs.

Sydney Sherwood is an 18-year-old singer/songwriter from New Jersey. Sydney began singing and playing guitar as a way to express her emotions after her brother was diagnosed with cancer.

Nordic vocalist Johanna Kuvaja presents her new single 'Wanna Make Love To You', a sexy and versatile offering - much like a modern "Je t’aime”. Her third single, evoking poptastic Mariah-esque vibes, was completed over a year ago but due to the current pandemic, its release was postponed.

Written by Kuvaja, the single was recording, mixed, produced and mastered by award winning London-based producer Sefi Carmel, known for his mixes for icons such as David Bowie, Phil Collins, Bruno Mars, Michael Buble, Massive Attack and Birdy. Kuvaja handled the vocal arrangements and also co-produced.

"I composed this song when I was dreaming about experiencing a deep spiritual connection with someone. I realized that I had only had sex with men, not made love," says Kuvaja.

“Billions of people have had sex. I don’t know how many have actually made love? Making love is an art, created by two people with deep feelings for one another. It's a giving behavior with commitment and care."

Johanna Kuvaja debuted her 'Shower' single in August 2019, which saw her dubbed as Finland's Sabrina and also drew comparisons to Katy Perry and Kylie Minogue. This was followed by 'Back For Good', with reviews recalling Christina Aguilera and Madonna, and then 'Shower (Janne Hyöty Remix)', created by multi-platinum awarded producer Janne Hyöty, whose songwriting accounts for over 40 No.1 releases (including on 'ARASHI 5X20', the world's best selling album of 2019).

Finland's largest periodical 'Ilta-Sanomat' declared 'Shower' and its respective music video among the biggest topics in Finland’s entertainment world in 2019. The single, which has been played on radio in over 40 different countries, also reached the No. 1 spot on Spotify’s official Viral 50 Finland chart, not to mention charting for 15 weeks straight after its release.

"It was such an exciting experience to travel to London to work in the studio with Sefi, who mixed my 'Shower' song and made it a hit back in 2019. I had the flu when we were recording, so Sefi offered me a lot of Whiskey when I was in the recording booth. No wonder I managed to sing all the low dude sounds in the bridge," laughs Johanna Kuvaja.

Johanna Kuvaja is a trained music teacher from Tampere, Finland. She has a long history of collaborating with various renowned Finnish musicians, winning music writing competitions, touring the country as a duo, folk and pop orchestra, and performing on Finnish television as part of the 'Finnish Star' series. She eventually studied TV-performance and music at university, earning her degree and becoming a certified music teacher.

With a vocal range of five octaves, she is a trained professional, having learned piano from the age of 6. By 10, she had entered the conservatory, picked up violin and Finland's national instrument, the kantele, and was part of an ensemble that won the Finnish Championship at the Folk Music Festival three times over. After TV performances and touring, she won her first songwriting competition, leading to more such events, including the Eurovision song contest.

"When things fell apart in my life, I was led to find my true purpose. Writing music brought me joy and cured me from depression. Sometimes music really is the only medicine the heart and soul need. Music is my way to express myself and process my thoughts while being creative. I decided to take a leap of faith and follow my passion," says Kuvaja.

As of May 14, 'Wanna Make Love To You' will be available digitally across online music stores and streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music.

False Memories was originally formed in 2015 by guitarist Francesco Savino and soon started working on original material. In 2016, the band released a self-titled EP which included four original tracks and one cover. As time progressed, the band’s soundscapes got more mature and headed towards a more goth rock/metal sound. Invigorated by their new sound, the band started to work on its first full-length release, “Chimerical”. Originally released independently in January 2018, the album featured eight previously unreleased tracks and three of the original songs from the debut EP, for a total of 11 original songs.

In October 2018, singer Rossella Moscatello joined the band and the band eventually released a new edition of the “Chimerical” album, including three bonus tracks sung by Rossella.

For this new album, "The Last Night Of Fall," the composers are both Francesco Savino and Rossella Moscatello, with a line-up featuring new drummer Emanuele Cossu, second guitarist Moreno Palmisano, and bassist Gianluca Zaffino.

Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell,best known for their work as part of the legendary band Dead Can Dance, present the studio album 'Burn'. Produced by James Chapman (MAPS), this long-play is being released via Atlantic Curve, a London-based label that is part of the Schubert Music Europe.

The record began its journey more than seven years ago, when Lisa met Irish theatre composer Jules Maxwell before working together for the first time. Things really took root when Gerrard and Maxwell began writing songs for their earlier collaboration 'The Mystery Of The Bulgarian Voices (Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares)'. They were later introduced to Chapman and asked him to produce this album, which represents a stunning departure for all three of them.

Jules Maxwell explains: “‘Burn’ was never planned to be an album. Like many joyous things in life, it grew slowly and unexpectedly. One song at a time. The seeds had been planted by Lisa and I whilst we were working on songs for another album, but didn’t begin to flower until months, years later. Without Daryl Bamonte’s tenacious encouragement and James Chapman’s sonic vision it would not have come to fruition at all. Lisa Gerrard is in my opinion one of the most important singers of her generation and it continues to be an enormous privilege for me to be working with her. What we have created still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up from time to time. Listen to it in one go from beginning to end if you can.”

Lisa Gerrard introduces this long-play “The album begins with ‘Heleali’, a meditation on the eternal rise and fall of the tides. It is a call to let go of the past and reflect on the elusive shadows of evaporation.”

With Chapman joining the duo as producer, ideas generated freely and over time, a distinct sound for their work began to emerge. Their focus was to create something that was both euphoric and compelling; more inventive than what they had worked on separately in the past. From gentle beginnings, each track builds and intensifies, creating a hypnotic experience to listen to from start to finish. With Lisa remaining in Australia, Jules adding his keys and percussion from France, and James bringing new light to the sound from England, the three were literally worlds apart, but those worlds fused in this music.

“It was such a huge honour for me to work with Lisa and Jules in making this album, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. My role was really to build on the ideas, and it was a pleasure to work with such rich and exciting material. I was very grateful to be given the freedom to explore the production, there was a real trust between everyone from the beginning, which made things very exciting for me. Having such freedom from the start enabled me to be more confident in the ideas, which in turn created more possibilities with the choices that were made. When I listen to the album now, I feel that freedom and excitement within each track,” says James Chapman.

Sosna's video is among seven specially commissioned films to accompany the release of the album. The first of these, created by Polish director Jacob Chelkowski’s video for the title track 'Noyalain (Burn)', proves more than a little provocative in these days of Covid, as it portrays the simple, traumatic act of touching.

In early March, Jules Maxwell also released his sophomore solo album 'Nocturnes’ - the debut release for the newly-formed Archangelo Recordings. This beautifully melancholic collection of instrumental pieces was written and recorded over the past four years, much of it in collaboration with the acclaimed UK-based Vincent Dance Theatre.

Back in the early 2000's, Leonard Cerzosie Jr. started a band with his brother called The Infinite Staircase that did very well as an independent band. the band worked with artists like Earl Slick from David Bowie's band, Candlebox, Sevendust, and even Zakk Wylde. In 2009, they scored a slot on tour with Black Label Society, Sevendust, and Dope that sealed a lot of friendships they still have to this day.

"In 2010, the love of my life passed away suddenly. Pill overdose. It was a devastating time. She was only 27. Morgan Rose and I wrote and recorded the EP, No Amends that was a dedication to my love" says Leonard Cerzosie Jr.

He continues, "Over the years, I've had my hand in multiple projects. I formed "Le Projet" around 2013 that featured members of Candlebox, Sevendust, and The Infinite Staircase. I also joined the Baltimore band "The Mayan Factor" a few years ago and have toured with them in Mexico City and the states. During all this, my mother was diagnosed with ALS. One day- after performing a friend insisted on introducing me to someone. He was confident we needed to meet. That was the day I met Jim Taylor. We did get along immediately and have since been composing all sorts of music together."

"When my mother passed away, Morgan got very involved with what was going on with me and my dad. He invited us out to his place in Atlanta multiple times. We started recording songs with Corey Lowery that would ultimately become "LeNNe". We spent much time digging deep for the right lyrics and tones. There were multiple artists involved over the course of a few years, but the official line up is me and Jim led by Morgan" he adds.

"Lenne is one of the most real artists I’ve ever come across. He wears his heart on sleeve, and expresses vulnerability that hits you in the heart. I love how he tells a story. These songs are an emotional roller coaster into the mind of a tortured soul" says Morgan Rose.

"We are very excited to have Lenne on the Imagen Records roster. I can't wait for everyone to hear the music" says Bob Winegard, President of Imagen Records.

"Letting You Down" is the first single to be released. The song features Leonard Cerzosie Jr., Morgan Rose, Jim Taylor, and Corey Lowery.
