Following a successful launch over the summer, Metal Injection's virtual Slay at Home fest will be returning as a monthly installment! In addition to a set from GREEN CARNATION, members of GARGOYL and CARNATION will each be performing cover collaborations.

Featuring four musicians from THE DEVIL'S BLOOD, MOLASSESS was formed upon being commissioned for a performance during the 2019 edition of Roadburn Festival. Yet, MOLASSESS is not a continuation of a buried past, nor a celebration of a cherished collaborator, but a culmination of heartache, requisite resolution, a rediscovery of rage and the relighting of a fire that never really burned out.

MOLASSESS was beckoned to life as a commissioned performance for the 2019 edition of Roadburn Festival, five years after THE DEVIL’S BLOOD – a chaotic coterie of musical misfits lead by the efficacious guitarist Selim Lemouchi – ended their fever dance.

The invitation inspired new shoots of creativity to blossom where death had walked. THE DEVIL’S BLOOD’s supernal singer Farida Lemouchi formed new bonds with old cohorts Oeds Beydals, Job van de Zande, and Ron van Herpen (ASTROSONIQ), Bob Hogenelst (BIRTH OF JOY) and Matthijs Stronks (DONNERWETTER). Not a reunion, but a confirmation of deep binds and steadfast connections, much like the substance of their namesake – deep and all-consuming, and impossible to untangle.

Taking their name from the final song on Lemouchi’s solo EP ‘Earth Air Spirit Water’ – and tragically his last mortal offering before his death in 2014, the band is not a continuation of a buried past, nor a celebration of a cherished collaborator, but a culmination of heartache, requisite resolution, a rediscovery of rage and the relighting of a fire that never really burned out.

Recording the music of the Roadburn performance on a two-track single, MOLASSESS released ‘Mourning Haze / Drops Of Sunlight’ via Ván Records in 2019.  The circle was completed once more with the coming together of a tribe that had been torn apart but found their moment of re-connection: being together again, but also being something new.
 
Now, with the band’s first full length, MOLASSESS are setting out on a new path:
 
“Through The Hollow - She proudly carries forth seeds of the past, present and future and cuts loose entirely within the new sonic search of Molassess. An infinite search for personal and spiritual renewal, a remedy for reason and rationality. The state where earth and neither flow inseperable. The new light that follows the one great death.”

With absolutely impressive, grand live production, huge arenas and overwhelming pyrotechnics, HAMMERFALL, the Swedish saviors of Heavy Metal, took over the world in 2019/2020 with their World Dominion tour. Today, New York metal outfit Dry Kill Logic returned with the hard-hitting new single “Don’t See Ghosts”. Premiering on Revolver, the track stays true to the band’s masterful blend of nu-metal and metallic hardcore that has captivated fans over their 25-year career. “Don’t See Ghosts” flows through Cliff Rigano’s deep, soaring vocals cut between heavy breakdowns and top-shelf guitar shredding. Lyrically, the track is meant to conjure interpretations from each individual listener, creating a more personal attachment to the song. You can listen to "Don't See Ghosts" now on YouTube and find the track on Spotify and all streaming services tomorrow (9/18).

On the track, vocalist Cliff Rigano told Revolver:

“We’ve always tried to write songs that come from a personal place, but frame them in a way that can be interpreted to mean something different and unique to each listener. “Don’t See Ghosts” was recorded last year, right after we put out "Vices", but we were unsure of when to release it. After looking at the lyrics recently, the song actually started to mean something different to us as well, and we realized that this was the right time to put it out.” 


The single was recorded at Intension Studios in Astoria, NY and Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, CT. It was produced by the band’s guitarist, Jason Bozzi, and mixed by Greg Thomas (Misery Signals, Shai Hulud). “Brendan (Kane Duff, bassist) brought Greg into the mix when it came time to record the new songs, and being fans of his other work, we were stoked that he wanted to get involved,” Rigano stated. 

“Don’t See Ghosts” serves as the follow up to Dry Kill Logic’s 2019 single “Vices”, which marked the highly-anticipated return to the studio for the band after a prolonged absence of new music dating back to their 2006 full-length, Of Vengeance and Violence. The band will continue to release singles through their own label, Psychodrama Music Group, in partnership with eOne Music.

The new album, Im Zeichen der Zeit, presents 14 energetic modern rock tracks: In an honest and authentic punk rock manner, "Freiheit" (engl. “freedom”) invites the listener to reflect on moments filled with happiness, to center themselves and find balance within, even if it’s just for a short amount of time. The mid-tempo anthem “Abgefucktes Leben” (engl. “fucked up life”) is driven by its unmistakably catchy chorus and dedicated to the simplicity of daily life. Esche’s rough vocals classify the band’s unique trademark, whilst pushing their songs, such as “Meine Band” (engl. “my band”), to a highly energetic level.

Despite wearing their punk rock attitude on their sleeves, SERUM 114 is also capable of slowing down: “ Wir scheitern voran” (engl. “we fail”) is a powerful ballad of failure and unveils an unusually calm side of the band.

Today, DRACONIAN, the sovereigns of melancholic Gothic Doom Metal and far-reaching lyrics, release their fourth single, "Moon Over Sabaoth", cut from their upcoming studio album, Under A Godless Veil, out October 30, 2020 via Napalm Records. 

The seventh full-length of the Swedish five-piece and second one with talented Heike Langhans on vocal duties, appears exactly five years after DRACONIAN’s latest album, Sovran, and guarantees a complete immersion into the band’s essence. Starting off with a soft guitar intro, DRACONIAN's new single "Moon Over Sabaoth" soon breaks off into Anders Jacobsson’s ghastly growls paired with a stomping doomy rhythm. Under a Godless Veil delivers a captivating mélange of dreary doom and contrasting vocals. NACHTBLUT, a flagship of German dark metal, show off with their gloomy new offering, Vanitas, out October 2 via Napalm Records, and unleash the third single, “Meine Grausamkeit Kennt Keine Grenzen” (engl. My Cruelty Knows No Bounds) to the world, along with a harmoniously conceived music video.

Ever since their debut release, Das erste Abendmahl (engl. The First Supper), in 2007, the four-piece has been shaping the dark metal scene with its unique sound. “Meine Grausamkeit Kennt Keine Grenzen" is yet another spine-tingling spawn of the band’s unmistakable work: NACHTBLUT’s third single quickly enfolds its harsh compelling sound of riff driven blast beats, right after the eerie intro. Songs like “Das Puppenhaus” (engl. the dollhouse) is reminiscent of scene giants such as RAMMSTEIN, with brutally honest lyrics and rhythmic guitars. “Die Toten vergessen nicht” (engl. the dead don’t forget) shines with an unmistakably dark and orchestral sound that will cause shivers to run down the listener’s spine, while the folk-influenced song “Leierkinder” (engl. children of the lyre) convinces with an addictive rhythms and moving lyrics that will carry the listener away to days of yore. Melancholic and captivating - An authentic highlight on Varg's musical route to the origins of Pagan Metal!

Today, the wolves of VARG are once again howling the origins of true Pagan Metal, continuing their story of the legendary Viking era. The band has unveiled the third single, "Fara Til Ránar", from their upcoming full-length, Zeichen (engl. signs), to be released on September 18 via Napalm Records.

"Fara Til Ránar” starts off with a captivating chorus, offering a new facet of VARG: The additional vigorous female vocals by Fylgja mirror a perfectly-fitting contrast to Freki’s shattering screams. The third single is a mournful metal ballad featuring the melancholic, captivating saga of the Nordic goddess of the sea, Rán, who uses her net to pull wandering sailors down into her watery grave. The wolves' third audio-visual creates a mystical surrounding in the trademark VARG style, but also includes some additional atmospheric elements.

On their authentic masterpiece Zeichen, the wolves of VARG return to their roots and embark on a journey further down a new road. Within the first seconds of the album opener breaking loose, VARG draws the listener into the year “793” that heralded the ferocious era of the Vikings. "Verräter", on the other hand, emphasizes the suffering and vengeance towards former allies with rapid guitar leads, and ultimately, the album culminates in the mighty title hymn “Zeichen”. 

In addition to the ten new tracks, the mediabook contains a bonus CD featuring alternate versions of each song the band recorded with renowned guest musicians such as Chrigel Glanzmann (ELUVEITIE), Robert „Robse“ Dahn (EQUILIBRIUM) and Askeroth (NACHTBLUT). Looking at the final opus, it's not surprising that VARG took four years after the publication of Das Ende Aller Lügen (which hit number 17 on the German charts) to regather their forces, and today, Zeichen shows that Freki, Fenrier, Morkai and Garm consciously took their time to realign their inner compass and are not afraid of musical and intellectual freedom.

Icelandic black metal formation AUÐN has shared the official music video for their brand new single, "Ljóstýra!" The song is taken from the band's upcoming full-length, 'Vökudraumsins fangi,' which is due on October 30. The video, which was created by Aimed and Framed.

AUÐN comments on the track: "'Ljóstýra,' meaning 'Faint light,' is a metaphor for loneliness and the never ending jaded grind our world is spiraling towards, we hope for brighter days that never seem to materialize. Set in a frozen waste (Auðn) a shimmer of light flickers in the distance in an old house. This faint light represents the hope of change, that the seasons will return and this perpetual darkness and cold will cease. As the years go by you grow bitter and cold like the world you are forced to inhabit, the feeling that the world will get brighter ever fading into memory. When darkness falls and all hope seems gone the faint candle light brings solace and for a brief moment the world feels bright again.This is 'Ljóstýra.'"

As the country's vibrant black metal scene has proven, Iceland can be a beautiful and sinister place where furious elements rage teaching fear but also inspiring human creativity. Emphasizing melodies rather than dissonance and approaching their music from a dramatic, classical black metal angle, AUÐNdeliver another mesmerizing piece of art with ‘Vökudraumsins fangi’.

Hailing from the village of Hveragerði in the south of Iceland, AUÐN deliver haunting melodies and beautifully frozen atmospheres – as opposed to the jarring and caustic blunt force trauma that has brought this remote place in the Northern Atlantic to the black metal forefront.
 
Founded in 2010, AUÐN's talent was quick to be recognized. After the release of the self-titled debut, the band got invited to Iceland’s main metal event, the Eistnaflug Festival. They participated and won the local Wacken Metal Battle contest in 2016, while making it to the top three during the infamous Wacken Open Air festival itself. Shows at the prestigious Inferno and Roadburn festivals followed in 2017.  
 
The second full-length, 'Farvegir Fyrndar' was released in November 2017, continuing the band’s fast ascent. Highly praised by the international metal press, the sophomore record reached back to a more classic second-generation black metal approach combined with a sense of elegance and melancholy that one can feel while dwelling among the bleak, extraordinary landscapes of the island.
 
The Icelanders embarked on European tours with label mates GAAHL’S WYRD in 2017 and THE GREAT OLD ONES (2017 and 2018) and captivated festival audiences at the biggest European fests, such as Copenhell, Summer Breeze Open Air, Eurosonic Noorderslag, Roskilde, Eindhoven Metal Meeting and more.
 
Returning with ‘Vökudraumsins fangi’, AUÐN explore new soundscapes and push their music to new heights, thereby setting themselves further apart from their Icelandic contemporaries. The six piece draws inspirations from their natural surroundings, but also chart the territory of the mind. The album title literally translates to ‘prisoner of the daydream’, but rather refers to a perpetual state of delusion of a life that never took place.

In addition to eight fan-favorite episodes, viewers will be able to enjoy two never-before-seen entries when the series returns to AXS TV with a new day and time, airing Thursday, October 1 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The series kicks off with a pair of star-studded sets broadcast for the first time worldwide, starting with Hall’s jam session with STYX front man Tommy Shaw on October 1, featuring intimate performances of STYX signatures “Blue Collar Man,” “Too Much Time On My Hands,” and “Renegade,” as well as Daryl Hall and John Oates’ hits “Delayed Reaction”, and “It’s A Laugh". Then, on October 8, Hall joins Ty Taylor, lead singer of L.A.-based R&B quartet Vintage Trouble, for a night of music featuring Vintage Trouble originals “Another Man’s Words,” “Nobody Told Me” and “Can’t Stop Rollin’”. They also perform The Spinners’ “I’ll Be Around,” which was covered on the Daryl Hall and John Oates album “Our Kind of Soul.”

Live From Daryl’s House was created in 2007 by Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer Daryl Hall, who wanted a creative refuge from the grind of touring where he and his talented friends could hangout and rock out in a relaxed atmosphere. The Webby Award-winning program quickly took the music world and the internet by storm with its unique format, as Hall welcomed a new artist into his domain each week to enjoy some local cuisine and conversation, before hitting the studio for an unforgettable jam session.
