SOJOURNER Releases Vocal Singthrough Video for New Song “Relics Of The Natural Realm”

Strictly Limited Special LP, Perennial, Featuring New Members, OUT NOW!

Melancholic black metal symbiosis SOJOURNER paves the way for another undeniably impressive next chapter with their outstanding new offering, the special LP, Perennial, to be released digitally and as a strictly limited ivory vinyl edition today!

With two songs in total, it features new vocalist Lucia Amelia Emmanueli for the first time. Like no other, SOJOURNER captivates the listener by combining harsh black metal influences and instrumental folk interludes with atmospheric soundscapes, while painting a picture of unexplored nature alongside an endless journey towards the horizon.

Songwriter and musician Mike Lamb says:

"When I approached the songwriting for this mini EP I wanted to do something special that encompassed both where we began and where we are today, because while we've grown and changed over the last 6 years we still have the same passion and vision for the band that brought us together initially. I approached both the songwriting and recording for this EP in the same way that I did on Empires of Ash and The Shadowed Road, even down to recording all of the instruments back in New Zealand again for the first time since we began, in the same room where I wrote 'Heritage of the Natural Realm' in 2015.

It also seemed like a fitting time to do something that sat somewhere between a reinterpretation of 'Heritage...' and a sequel of sorts for the second EP track, 'Relics of the Natural Realm', bringing our 2015 beginnings full circle back to where we are now and the band that we've evolved into in 2021. This is reflected in the cover art, again by our good friend Jordan Grimmer who did the original Empires of Ash cover, showing the meeting of SOJOURNER both past and present. We couldn't be happier with our incredibly talented new members, both of who turned in absolutely beautiful vocal performances, and we're so excited about the bright future ahead for the band."

Melancholic black metal symbiosis SOJOURNER paves the way for another undeniably impressive next chapter with their outstanding new offering, the mini-EP Perennial, to be released digitally and as a strictly limited ivory vinyl edition on June 4, 2021 via Napalm Records.

Today, the maestros of levitating bleakness have unveiled a captivating piece of art, the bewitching hymn “Perennial”, featuring new vocalist Lucia Amelia Emmanueli for the first time. A visually inspiring music video captures the undeniably breathtaking beauty of untouched nature while SOJOURNER interweave angelic vocals and brutal growls, carried by a sonic layer of atmospheric black metal spliced with romantic folk influences.

Vocalist Emilio says: about “Perennial”:

"With wanting to revisit the old style of SOJOURNER I decided to tap into our roots on a lyrical level. 'Perennial' very much follows the thread of nature and it’s loss at our very own hands. This theme was prevalent in several songs on our first album so it made sense to revisit that. The vocals were meticulously worked on with Lucia to make sure that every single word worked in its tone and placement. Later, with Tom joining in on backing vocals at the very end, we truly felt happy with the end result. We are super excited about our future with our two new awesome members!"

New Album, Premonitions, OUT NOW!

Dark and violent shaded atmospheric black metal rises with “The Apocalyptic Theater”

The maestros of levitating bleakness, SOJOURNER, have revealed their fourth single, “The Apocalyptic Theater”, along with an official lyric video, cut from their latest dark full-length Premonitions.

Singer Emilio Crespo states:

“These are actually the first lyrics I wrote for Premonitions. I definitely wanted to emphasize this subject that I feel strongly about; our actions in many different aspects of life are detrimental to the continued thriving as a species in our own home. Also, that while it’ll revitalize itself when we’re gone, there IS a point of no return for us and we could approach it quicker than we realize. We continue to act in such ways while believing that catastrophes and the like won’t happen to us or in our lifetime and we prove over and over that they do. Therefore, if we continue down this path we will eventually watch it all crumble with lifeless eyes.”

Rising somber soundscapes introduce their newest melodic black metal offering, quickly coalescing into a rousing cascade of riff driven blast beats, drawing the listener into SOJOURNER’s unmistakably sonic atmosphere. Emilio Crespo’s bloodcurdling growls harmonize with Chloe Bray’s clean vocals whilst underlining the tracks’ message with its critical, current reference. “The Apocalyptic Theater” reflects our way of life, leading to a point of no return!

Guitarist Mike Lamb adds:

"The Apocalyptic Theater” was the first song we wrote for Premonitions, and it's definitely the most traditional SOJOURNER song on the album. It bridges the gap between the sound we've established on previous releases and the new territory we explored further elsewhere on Premonitions. It carries the spirit of the more fantasy-driven elements of our sound into what turned out to be a much darker album, both musically and lyrically, something that will always be core to Sojourner as a band regardless of what we explore musically album-to-album. We're proud to present “The Apocalyptic Theater” as the fourth and final single, and we hope you enjoy it!"

Premonitions rises like an upcoming vortex that leaves the violent, yet undeniably beautiful stylistic evolution of their sound in an exceptional fusion of folk and atmospheric black metal.

Their un-inimitable tonal trademark breathes the band’s internationality: Living in four different countries, they combine each mindset and evoke the sweeping, melancholic atmospheres of nature merging with aggressive black metal fundamentals. SOJOURNER forms an indestructible bond that mirrors through their music. This album is not only a masterfully told story, but also a milestone confirming the group’s unique approach towards the genre!
