Helfró Stream Entire Debut Album via Black Metal Promotion

Icelandic black metal duo HELFRÓ are now premiering their self-titled debut album in full via Black Metal Promotion. The entire record can be heard ahead of this Friday's release.

HELFRÓ comment: "At last! Let the forlorn discordance wash over the world! Proudly we release the grip on these mad melodies. As a journey comes to an end, another one begins. We present; Helfró."

The record will be released digitally via Season of Mist Underground Activists this Friday, April 24, via the Season of Mist e-shop and Bandcamp. The album will be physically available on June 5. The record can be ordered HERE.

Slithering in the cauldron that is the Icelandic black metal scene, HELFRÓ emerges with fury and competence rarely seen.

Written by Ragnar and arranged by Símon, a debut album has been recorded with unforgiving precision and profound musicianship. It is meant to channel the hopeless and empty feelings that have been concentrated from the frozen wastelands from which the band emerges.

Shrilling guitarwork and unforgiving blast beats weave together a soundscape that rarely leaves room for thought. It is an aural attack, seducing the listener to the barren and desolate black sands where the realization of futility and loneliness sets in heavier than anywhere else.

The band members, veterans in extreme music, have created this project as an audio representation of the endless arctic darkness, and with pride present the self titled first offering: „Helfró“.

SKINLAB has released their brand new video for single "Amerikill."

The single is from the band's latest record VENOMOUS, that was produced by Ulrich Wild, and released on October 25th, 2019, via Art is War Records.

"We are excited to release our new video for "Amerikill." This will be the first of many videos the band shot ourselves with the help of our bud Karl Whinnery who did an awesome job with his added story line catering to the inner paranoia developed through isolation. The message is real....know your surroundings" says Steev Esquivel.

One of the Bay Area's most prolific and enduring dynamic musical authorities in the world of bludgeoning heavy music has been Oakland’s own Skinlab. For nearly a quarter century, the quartet has endured numerous 'flash in the pan' short term music scene trends with steady composure and now sit poised to break through 2019 with the force of a raging ground swell. With new brutal music on the horizon, a reinvigorated rhythmic lineup, featuring the exciting return of longtime axemen Steve 'Snake' Green and Marcos Medina, as well as upcoming live road dates set forth to take precedence in 2019, Skinlab are on pace to set the record straight and blaze a new trail into the near future. For fans of the group, the undeniable mark of Skinlab begins and ends with the return of unflappable frontman Steev Esquivel who’s tone historically prepares listeners for all out war both live and in the studio. His moody drawl and sunken vocal grind opens up the needed space for the artillery style grooves of drummer Fabian Vestodto who pounds the group to the frontline of every rhythmic chug. Dating back to their early ground-breaking catalog of mainstays like Bound, Gagged and Blindfolded and _Disembody: the New Flesh to crushers like ReVoltingRoom and *The Scars Between Us_*, now as before, Skinlab is truly here to set the record straight...

SKINLAB is:

Steev Esquivel - Bass, Vocals

Snake - Lead Guitars

Fabian Vestod - Drums

Marcos Medina - Guitars

PUPPY RELEASE "POWDER BLUE" VIDEO FROM iii EP

THE CLIP IS A REMINDER OF METAL'S COLLECTIVE SPIRIT IN CUT-OFF TIMES

Last year, Puppy put together an ambitious treatment for a music video to accompany "Powder Blue," a song from their new iii EP

It involved a shedload of pyro, stage props, and lighting, with Puppy performing a killer heavy metal gig to a huge crowd. You know, the kind they had "watched on MTV as kids."

Long story short, in the build up to the shoot, everything went to shit.

And without planning it that way, Puppy ended up being filmed playing a "socially distanced show" to an empty room.

The resulting video presents itself as a heartwarming reminder of why we all do this heavy metal lark — reflecting honestly on being a band in a quarantined world.

"'Powder Blue' is the first song on our last EP, iii. We called it that because it was our third EP, and because there are three of us in the band. For whatever reason, triptychs, triplets, three-pieces, and trilogies felt quite important to us at that point," says the band. "The whole idea with the songs on iii was that they should sound like what they are: three people in a room together, with little-to-no over-dubs, add-ons, or studio wizardry. It's fitting then that, because of world events, the video ended up mirroring this concept in its simplicity."

Puppy continues, "We had a lot of ambitious ideas for this video going into it, and for many reasons these didn't exactly play out how we'd hoped. But we like this video now precisely because of its limitations; because, like the EP, it's a record of three people coming together to try and make something bigger than the sum of their parts. The fact that we failed miserably doesn't seem to matter as much now."

iii was recorded in Hackney's largely analogue Holy Mountain Studios, around the corner from the rehearsal space where Puppy first started making music together, with producer Misha Hering

HEILUNG Release New Music Video for Song, "Norupo"

Enigmatic collective HEILUNG have shared their first ever music video for the song "Norupo," which is taken from 2019's critically-acclaimed release, 'Futha!' The video was shot at the Neolithic standing stones at Les Menhirs de Monteneuf in France.

Norupo is composed around the ancient runic poem with the name ”The Norwegian Rune Poem”. The poem was preserved in a 17th-century copy of a now lost 13th-century manuscript and gives a complete description of all sixteen runes of the younger Futhark.

Following an extremely successful first ever tour of North America, in which every venue sold out, enigmatic pagan collective HEILUNG are returning to the states for one spectacular evening! The Danish formation will be bringing their mesmerizing ritual to the historic, century-old Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, CO on October 6. Ticket pre-sales will start on Wednesday, March 4 at 10:00 A.M. MST. General on-sale will start on Friday, March 6 at 10:00 A.M. MST. Tickets can be purchased HEREAs of now, the show is still planning to happen on schedule.

HEILUNG will be supporting their 2019 release, 'Futha,' which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Heatseeker charts and #4 on the Billboard World Music Charts, placing on a total of seven Billboard charts within the first week of its release.

Moreover, HEILUNG has recently announced the standalone Blu-Ry for their 'Lifa'  live film. Filmed during a late summer night at Castlefest 2017 in The Netherlands, 'Lifa - Heilung Live at Castlefest' captures HEILUNG's legendary debut performance. This will be the first time that the mesmerizing footage is available worldwide as a stand-alone audio/visual (Blu-ray) piece. 'Lifa' lays bare the power and majesty of the enigmatic Danish trio’s deep and enchanting live ritual for all to experience.

The Blu-ray will be released on April 24 via Season of Mist and can be pre-ordered HERE.

The digital stream of 'Lifa,' which has over 4 Million views to date, can be seen HERE.

Earlier this year, HEILUNG brought their mesmerizing live ritual to states and Canada for the first time ever, which sold out every venue within 72 hours of announcing.

During this year's Game Awards, HEILUNG announced that they will be working with U.K.-based gaming company Ninja Theory on the soundtrack for their upcoming game, 'Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II.' The announcement trailer for the new game features HEILUNG's song 'In Maidjan,' which is taken from their debut album, 'Ofnir.' Watch the trailer HERE.

Speaking of the collaboration, HEILUNG comment, "It is with the uttermost joy and deepest respect that we can finally reveal: Heilung is collaborating with Ninja Theory on the soundtrack for 'Senua's Saga: Hellblade II.'  From the very first meeting with co-founder & Chief Creative Ninja Tameem, Commercial Director Dominic, and Audio Lead David, we discovered that although we work on very different platforms, the core is very much alike.  Both Heilung and Hellblade are deeply inspired by nature and history, and aim to alter your state of mind.  We are looking very much forward to present this hybrid child, born from a meeting between ancient spirits and the technology of tomorrow."

Earlier this year, the band's music was featured in a trailer for the final season of HBO's 'Game of Thrones' series. It can be viewed HERE.

This was not the first time HEILUNG's music has been featured in a commercial, as “Krigsgaldr” was featured in a 2018 commercial for the Adidas x Alexander Wang collaboration. Watch the commercial HERE!

'Futha' was released on June 28 and can be streamed HERE and ordered HERE.

Speaking about 'Futha,' BILLBOARD wrote, "Tracks like 'Norupo,' which is led by female vocals, is beautiful and melodic, and the choir and tribal percussive background of 'Othan' is trance-like." You can read the full feature, which includes an interview with HEILUNG's Kai Uwe Faust, HERE.

Upon its release, 'Futha' has been met with international critical acclaim. Here is what the press is saying:

"There’s an earthy aura surrounding the record, not just from the sounds of nature but the primal energy it evokes, trying to wake something long lost to the ravages of time... the power and conviction of these chanted tales connect on a deeper level than mere riffs. You just have to let it in." - Kerrang

"'Futha' is consequently more a gentle, comforting blessing than it is an album: an escape from contemporary concerns and a reminder that there is still magic in this world." - Pure Grain Audio

"'Futha' leaves no stone unturned in its quest to experiment and bring its own true experience to the table. That said, it is easy to fall into a trance and with eyes closed to be transported to the past world that Heilung brings back to life. That is why Cryptic Rock gives Futha 4 out of 5 stars." - Cryptic Rock

"Indeed, I have no better word for the music than 'spellbinding.' The combination of the hide-drum and electronic rhythms, the contrasting vocals of Faust and Franz, the mystical keyboard layers, and the dark and ethereal melodies is wonderful." - No Clean Singing

"
Heilung have just the ticket with their new record, 'Futha' (Season of Mist), which layers ancient Germanic chants six feet deep for total disembodied bliss." - Free Williamsburg

"Hypnotic and evocative, this preview of Heilung's upcoming album 'Futha' hints that another tradition-steeped masterpiece from the fascinating collective is to come." - Revolver Magazine

AETHER REALM Releases Third New Track and Video,"Guardian"

New Album, Redneck Vikings From Hell, out May 1 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order NOW

Melodic death metal masters AETHER REALM recently announced the upcoming release of their mind-boggling upcoming full-length album, Redneck Vikings From Hell, out May 1, 2020 via Napalm Records. With their new album, the band improves upon their already distinctive sound that’s been astonishing fans since day one – taking listeners on a stupefying rollercoaster ride of death metal, thrash and even neo-classical shred.

Today, AETHER REALM has revealed a third single from Redneck Vikings From Hell – the cinematic, introspective ballad, "Guardian". The track cements the band's versed songwriting talents, proving just how undeniably multi-talented AETHER REALM is. Its stunning accompanying visualizer video's concept and animation were created by CHURCH GRiM (@churchgrimart).

Frontman Vincent "Jake" Jones says about the track:

"Sometimes you write a song because it’s the song you want to hear, but sometimes you write a song because it’s the song you need.

I wound up living on a couch most of the time this album was being put together. For a lot of that time, it was uncertain whether I was on the “right” path – whether I was wasting my friends' and my own time pursuing music as hard as we were. One night I was feeling particularly down, and I just started writing the things I wished someone would say to me in that moment. I felt a little better afterwards. I hope it’ll do that for someone else who needs it."

Checkout the bands new videos below:

"Goodbye"

"Slave to the Riff"

Redneck Vikings From Hell not only cements AETHER REALM as a band to watch, but will also have listeners questioning just what exactly they can’t do. Each track on Redneck Vikings From Hell is entirely distinct, setting the stage by playing upon the band’s southern roots with the banjo-laden epic folk metal-inspired title track “Redneck Vikings From Hell”. Meanwhile, the first single “Goodbye” and center-cuts like the thrashy, unwavering “Lean Into The Wind”, the powerful anthem “Hunger” and symphonic brutality banger “Slave To The Riff” provide a weightier sample of the unconventional stylings of AETHER REALM 3.0. Otherworldly closing track “Craft And The Creator” drives it all home, showcasing each individual band member's infallible technical skills and featuring hair-raising leads that would make any guitar god blush. The album is strung together by colossal orchestral elements that lift the band to new heights.

In addition to being produced and mixed by Kile Odell (Motionless in White, Cane Hill), mastered by Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me, The Contortionist, Scale The Summit) and featuring orchestration by Ben Turk of Gloryhammer, Redneck Vikings From Hell features a treasure trove of fantastic special musical guests, including guitarist/banjoist Wayne Ingram (Wilderun), guitarist Greg Burgess (Allegaeon), Eric W. Brown (Nekrogoblikon, Vale of Pnath, Swashbuckle, Rainbowdragoneyes) and vocalist Josh Rieke of YouTube fame. The album also features contributions from voice actress Erica Lindbeck (Final Fantasy VII remake), harpist Amy Turk (sister of Ben Turk), vocalist Michael Rumple (Ashen Idol, Flood District), vocalist Zach Williams (Dead Eyes) and returning AETHER REALM guest vocalist and sister of Vincent "Jake" Jones, Elly Jones.

TOMBS Share Previously Unreleased Live Music, "Abraxas Ritual: Live In Chicago"

While concerts might currently be on hiatus, you can still experience the live fury of Brooklyn metal formation TOMBS! The band has just dropped previously unreleased live tracks from a 2019 set in Chicago, IL, which was recorded by Spenser Morris on June 17, 2019 at Livewire Lounge. "Abraxas Ritual: Live in Chicago" features four live cuts and is available to stream or purchase now via Bandcamp at THIS LOCATION.

'Monarchy of Shadows' was released on February 28 via Season of Mist, making it the band's debut to the label! The album can be heard in its entirety HERE and purchased HERE.

See what the press is saying about 'Monarchy of Shadows' below:

"Frenetic, lively and grandiose black metal colors the EP's six tracks. 'Monarchy of Shadows' references the brooding, down-tempo nature of 'The Grand Annihilation' at times; however, there is a more visceral, fast, full-frontal assault this time around that finds the band continuing to grasp at an ethereal spirit." - Blabbermouth

"The six tracks on Monarchy Of Shadows are ripping, diabolic odes to darkness that drink heavily from the same chalice as Watain, with razor-wire guitar melodies sticking jaggedly out the top..." - Kerrang

"The music has changed in small and large ways from album to album, but Tombs is one of those bands you just need to listen to, because the intensity is unwavering, and the evolution never seems to have taken any wrong turns." - No Clean Singing

"The black metal parts on this one are especially blackened and whiplash-inducing, but as is usually the case with Tombs, the album can’t be pinned down to just one sound. It also takes clear influence from goth and post-punk and Swans, and Tombs fuse those sounds with black metal pretty seamlessly." - Brooklyn Vegan

If you are looking for some further entertainment during isolation, TOMBSmainman Mike Hill is the host/producer/creator of the Everything Went Blackpodcast as well as the host and producer of Gimme Radio’s Metal Mattersflagship podcast. Episodes of Metal Matters can be heard HERE.

ABYSMAL DAWN Announces Virtual 'Phylogenesis' Listening Party

SOM446-Abysmal-Dawn-Phylogenesis-500X500px-72dpi-RGB.jpg

Los Angeles' death metal masters ABYSMAL DAWN will be hosting a worldwide virtual listening party for their new album, 'Phylogenesis,' which will take place tomorrow, April 14, @ 11:00 A.M. PDT // 2:00 P.M. // 20:00 CEST. All four members of the band will be present for a live Q&A during the stream. You can tune in at THIS LOCATION.

ABYSMAL DAWN comments: "Unfortunately, our listening parties in NYC and Los Angeles had to be cancelled for obvious and understandable reasons. To try and make up for it, we’ll be hosting a live stream of our new album and virtual Q&A with the band on Tuesday. So if you’re going a little stir crazy, let’s listen to some metal and have a bit of fun."

ICYMI: ABYSMAL DAWN has scored the cover of Issue #52 of New Noise Magazine! Along with an in-depth interview with mainman Charles Elliott, the issue will also feature an exclusive flexi disc of the band's never-before-heard cover of CANDLEMASS' "Bewitched," which will be made available digitally at a later date. The cover is designed by Par Olofsson.

Speaking about the upcoming issue and the choice to cover CANDLEMASS, Elliott comments:

"We're incredibly honored to be on the over of New Noise Magazine. In all my years doing this, I think this is the first time we've been given the prime cover slot of any publication. I'm really happy to see all the excitement around the release of Phylogenesis and all the positive feedback we've been getting so far. It makes me proud after all the hard work that was put into this record.

"So, as an added bonus, New Noise is putting out our cover version of the doom metal classic, "Bewitched" by Candlemass. We had some free time in the studio while putting together Phylogenesis and decided to do something totally out of the box for us. I don't think many of our fans would think Candlemass are an influence of ours but they are. It's nowhere near the realm of tech-death or brutal death metal but Nightfall is one of my favorite albums and it's an amazing record!

"Now the biggest shocker here is that I laid down some melodic vocals for this one. I don't pretend to be Messiah Marcolin but I gave it my best. I tried to maintain my own voice while paying tribute to the overall vibe of the original. I wasn't sure I could do it at first, but after showing the track to some friends and having the rest of the band excited about it, we decided we weren't making total asses of ourselves. It's a fun track and I think Vito killed it on the lead as well. Enjoy!"

Subscribe to New Noise or pre-order Issue #52 HERE.

ABYSMAL DAWN previously released "The Path of the Totalitarian," the second single from their forthcoming fifth studio album, 'Phylogenesis.' The song is available along with an accompanying 360°  visualizer at THIS LOCATION.

'Phylogenesis' is the first new music from ABYSMAL DAWN in six years! The record is out on April 17 via Season of Mist, making it the band's debut to the label. Pre-order it HERE.

American death metal masters Abysmal Dawn are back! After a six-year gap, the Los Angeles-based outfit and Season of Mist hereby present Phylogenesis. Not that Abysmal Dawn have laid low since the release of 2014’s lauded Obsolescence full-length. Far from it. They toured North America four times and hit Europe and South America for the first time. Meanwhile, founding member Charles Elliott opened his studio, Tastemaker Audio, to accelerate Abysmal Dawn's own recording needs, as well to act as a bridge to other bands in need of a knowledgeable and relatable audio technician. But the road to Phylogenesis wasn’t an easy one. Besides work-horsing it throughout the U.S., Canada, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Brazil, Chile, and beyond in support of Obsolescence, Elliott and crew managed through some of the lowest points in Abysmal Dawn’s career. Internal strife, administrative burdens, musical differences, and motivation all had their various ways with the Californians. Yet, from the darkest depths, they prevailed, heralding a new chapter in the group’s storied history. Indeed, Phylogenesis is Abysmal Dawn’s rebirth!

“There was a brief period after doing two months of touring back-to-back in the U.S. and Europe in 2015 that I almost felt like calling it quits,” Abysmal Dawn’s Charles Elliott says. "It was our first time in Europe and I just had a hard time enjoying it. The band had grown, and I was a bit tired of having to handle most of the managerial aspects of what we do. The joy had been ripped from things and people weren't getting along, and some people acted like they didn't want to be there. But we went our separate ways with some of the members and all of a sudden, the band was fun again. They went on to other things and we're probably all happier in the end. Sometimes, I feel it's a miracle this album or band even still exists. I've avoided swearing on our records in the past, but the album's opening line is actually, 'Fuck you all!' Maybe it's primitive by our past lyrical standards but it's genuine and it's the most heartfelt, ‘Fuck you, we’re still here’ I could put on a record. I’m glad we stuck it out because I think this is our proudest moment so far.”

To say Phylogenesis is an extension or continuation of Obsolescence isn’t exactly as straightforward as it should be. On one hand, all the Abysmal Dawn trademarks—technicality, brutality, and melody—remain ingrained in the songwriting fabric. On the other, the band’s fifth full-length is more cohesive, rhythmically sophisticated, and far more adventurous. Elliott calls it “a major evolution.” Certainly, the six years of constant refinement, edge smoothing, and transition adjustments have paid off. What started as jam sessions between Elliott, bassist Eliseo Garcia, and drummer James Coppolino in 2016 eventually turned into one-offs. That there was no time limit to put Phylogenesis together ended up both a blessing and a curse. Total creative freedom at very little expense is a dream scenario, something a band of Abysmal Dawn’s stature took advantage of for their magnum opus. But without a ticking clock and dollars burning, the pressure to focus was far less severe, resulting in delays and feature creep.

“It was basically James, Eliseo and me meeting up at my place, jamming on ideas, seeing what worked and tweaking them from there,” says Elliott. “With the exception of ‘Hedonistic,’ James wrote all his drum parts. Obsolescence was demoed with me programming all the drums since our drummer at the time had moved up north. It was what it was, but it was pretty frustrating at the time. Having someone to bounce ideas off of in real-time, helped in maintaining the joy and momentum of making this album. Once it was time to record bass and leads, Eliseo and Vito [Petroni; guitars] would trickle in when they had ideas. We had no real deadline and seemingly infinite time to do things. Admittedly, I think it was hard for me to focus on the lyrics, not only because of things in my personal life but because I was focused on getting the guys in to complete their parts so I could focus.”

Finish Phylogenesis they did, in fact. Under significant duress, Abysmal Dawn had overcome their roadblocks. The results of the group’s undulating professional and personal schedules aren’t to be trifled with, however. Opening track “Mundane Existence” is a firestorm of labyrinthine yet savage riffs, enraged vocals, and machine-gun drumming. It’s death metal personified, enlightened, and perfected. Elsewhere, tracks such as “The Path of the Totalitarian,” “A Speck in the Fabric of Eternity,” and “Soul-Sick Nation” (feat. Fredrik Folkare of Unleashed, Firespawn, et al.) pose real threats to the status quo. In all three, Elliott’s passion for and dominance of death metal’s tenets are tangible. But there’s more to Abysmal Dawn on Phylogenesis than customary ritual. From the ruthless groove of “Hedonistic” and the staccato stabs of “Coerced Evolution” to the late album gem “The Lament Configuration” and the blistering cover of Death classic “Flattening of Emotion,” the songs are designed to slay in ways we’re just beginning to understand.

“We’re a pretty brutal death metal band, but what I feel like sets us apart is that no matter what we do there’s always some underlying sense of melody and hooks,” Elliott says. “There are lots of bands that are ridiculously brutal. There are lots of bands that are over-the-top technically or are blatantly melodic. We combine all that but we try to write something that sticks with you over time; that you'll keep coming back to, and that works well in the live environment. We love all types of music, whether it's fusion or industrial music, and it shines through here and there. But in the end, though, we're a pure death metal band at heart trying to retain that old-school feel with an updated take for a new generation.”

Conceptually, Phylogenesis deals with the breakdown of social constructs humans have built over time. The album title is defined by the evolution of (or diversification) a species. So, Phylogenesis is an ironic take on Elliott’s observations, particularly how social media has accelerated and exacerbated the de-evolution of humanity’s interactive abilities. The cover art, again by Swedish artist Pär Olofsson, isn’t directly correlated to the lyrical narrative, but it does continue where Obsolescence left off. The Olofsson cover art has envisioned what it’s like on the inside of the Obsolescence tower, and that it’s humans that are being fed back to humans. The cover art continuity is akin to Richard Fleischer’s famed Soylent Greenfilm but ripped through Elliott’s demented death metal lens.

“I think the lyrics deal a lot with things we encounter in our modern society and the effect it has on the individual,” says Elliott. “The dehumanization effect and divisiveness caused by bickering on social media (‘The Path of the Totalitarian’), the decay of legitimate journalism (‘True to the Blind’), struggling to find purpose in the pursuit of happiness (‘Hedonistic’), wishing something was greater than yourself (‘Mundane Existence’), the mental illness epidemic (‘Soul-Sick Nation’), embracing pain over numbness to feel alive (‘The Lament Configuration’), having our consciousnesses uploaded to a grid in order to make life sustainable on Earth (‘Coerced Evolution’), and the common theme throughout the band of wishing life on Earth would just start over (‘A Speck in the Fabric of Eternity’). I had started off wanting it to be a concept record but later scrapped that idea because I didn't like how it was going. In the end though, it just naturally all tied together in some way. Even the Death cover seemed to fit lyrically in hindsight. ‘Coerced Evolution’ is really the only song that in the sci-fi vein this time around. As for Pär, yes, he did the cover art once again. We love working with him and we’ve been creating great covers with him since 2006.”

Abysmal Dawn recorded Phylogenesis over a multi-year timeframe. In fact, Coppolino’s drums were tracked as far back as 2017 with long-time collaborator John Haddad at Trench Studios. The rhythm guitars and vocals, as produced by Mike Bear and Elliott, were also done at Tastemaker Audio the same year. So, some of Phylogenesis goes back, but the parts are no less lethal. Slowly but surely, the group’s newest and greatest materialized, with Elliott finishing the lead guitars, bass, additional vocals, re-amping, and mixing sessions in 2019, again at Tastemaker Audio. Abysmal Dawn then packaged up their fifth for mastering ace Tony Lindgren (Rotting Christ) to handle at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. Contemporary yet absolutely remorseless, Abysmal Dawn’s Phylogenesis is death metal for a new age.

“We took our time and went to few studios this time around, so it’s a bit of a laundry list,” Elliott says. “John Haddad engineered the drums at Trench Studios. John has been involved with all our records in some form since From Ashes. Mike Bear helped track and produce the vast majority of my vocals and rhythm guitars out of my studio. Mike produced both Leveling the Plane of Existence (2010) and Obsolescence. I tracked and produced all the leads, bass parts, and other odds and ends and mixed the album as well. Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios mastered the record in the end.”

As for Abysmal Dawn’s next steps, the quartet await the release of Phylogenesis. With past support coming from the Village VoiceDecibelPopMatters, and Pandora, as well as the group's rabidly-devoted fanbase, the future of death metal is in good hands.

WITCH TAINT Premiere "Death to Death Metal"

Debut Album 'Sons of Midwestern Darkness' out Tomorrow on Tee Pee Records

From the mean streets of Gary, Indiana by way of Oslo, Norway (or maybe the other way around - we’re not sure) comes WITCH TAINT, the most extremely extreme and Satanic Norwegian Black Metal band from Indiana ever (probably). On the eve of releasing their debut LP, Sons of Midwestern Darkness, the demonic duo has premiered the official music video for "Death to Death Metal" exclusively via Metal Injection. We'll be frank, if you think you can stomach the kind of depraved shit that goes down in fucking Gary, Indiana.

Brought to fruition by the very unstable genius collective of Lance the King of Black Metal (rumored to actually be comedian and musician Dave Hill) and Matthias Backwards (rumored to actually be comedian and musician Phil Costello) Witch Taint's full-length debut Sons of Midwestern Darkness (recorded entirely in darkness in a damp room that was also annoyingly cold even if you wore a coat and a hat and stuff the whole time) will be released TOMORROW (April 10th) on Tee Pee Records.

Pre-order the album HERE

Sons of Midwestern Darkness, is extremely difficult to listen to in all the best ways and features guest appearances from members of such not-nearly-as-extreme-as-Witch Taint bands as VenomCarpathian Forest, and Autopsy and also Lance’s dog Lucifuge because they forgot to keep the basement door shut even though she will end up coming down there every single time no matter what. Sons of Midwestern Darkness is a twelve-song collection of extremely grim yet very catchy and danceable heavy metal anthems that are perfect to get hammered and sing along to with all your closest friends and enemies. There are also five extremely extreme interludes where Lance and Matthias Backwards basically school motherfuckers on various topics, which is awesome. If you think you can handle it, which- statistically speaking anyway- you probably can’t, please get yourself a copy. And by all means, come see the band live (where Lance and Matthias will be joined by the destructive tendencies of opera diva La Sinistra [rumored to actually be Jennifer Valle], bassist Dean Ripper [rumored to actually be Dean Rispler], guitarist Thomas Guillotine [rumored to actually be Tom Beaujour], and drummist Markus St. Bastard [rumored to actually be Dave Richman]) for an assault on yours and a lot of other people’s senses. However, whether you decide to kill yourself, go sit in a ditch for a while, or simply stare off into the distance for a disturbingly long amount of time as a result of having done either one of these things, that is not Witch Taint’s fucking problem.

This past spring, Witch Taint began performing as a full, six-member live band (consisting mostly of members found in the darkest recesses of Craigslist) that is so extreme, brutal, grim, unholy, kvlt, and just sort of negative in general that most people can’t even handle it basically even if everyone agrees the Witch Taint T-shirts are pretty awesome and they should really consider keeping more mediums in stock but whatever.

HER CHARIOT AWAITS RELEASE "TAKE ME HIGHER" VIDEO

BAND FEATURES AILYN & MIKE ORLANDO

SELF-TITLED RELEASE OUT May 22,

2020 ON FRONTIERS MUSIC SRL

Her Chariot Awaits is a newly formed hard rock/metal group featuring the highly regarded Spanish vocalist Ailyn (ex-Sirenia) and the awesome American guitarist and producer Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob). The band's self-titled debut will be released on May 22, 2020 via Frontiers Music Srl.

"We are obviously in some insanely scary times right now in the world with Covid-19 and I pray everyone is staying safe and sound the best they can. I am asthmatic and have had some tough breathing/chest issues and battled some flu-like symptoms for a couple of weeks, but I'm starting to feel better now, thankfully. I can't imagine what people who are suffering the worst symptoms of this virus are going through. I pray for all who have contracted the virus to get better soon! And to all who have lost someone already to this horrific pandemic my deepest condolences to you and your families. Please stay home & help us all!!!" tells guitarist Mike Orlando.

On a lighter note, Mike says that "'Take Me Higher' is a real fun rockin' track with a lot of movement and energy. Ailyn did a fantastic job on the vocals, as she did on the entire album, with some great multiple harmony layers. The mid section dropdown enters the solo section with a cool effect I tracked using my kill switch then kicks back up into the solo and takes off. The track has a great energy for the album and the melody has you singing along before the track ends. Video wise Ailyn, myself & the film crew shot right in the heart of New York City's Times Square & Central Park. We also shot Ailyn singing directly in front of the Macy's 4th of July fireworks show near the famous Brooklyn Bridge."

This exciting new musical alliance came about through the vision of Frontiers, who put the two artists – each eager to create a new and exciting project – in touch. The pair gelled extremely well, creating an album that offers songs that will excite all lovers of technical, aggressive, modern and extremely catchy heavy music. Melting the well defined metal approach of Adrenaline Mob with more melodic hooks, Her Chariot Awaits showcases the incredible vocal talents of Ailyn. Here, she moves in a heavier and more straight ahead direction compared to her previous band.

The album is a remarkable union of two great artists who still have a lot to prove, and is going to leave listeners breathless come May 22nd!

Line-up:

Mike Orlando – guitars, bass, additional vocals

Ailyn – lead vocals

Jeff Thal – drums

Brian Gearty – bass

WARBRINGER Releases New Track and Video for “Glorious End”

New Album, Weapons of Tomorrow, out April 24, 2020 | Pre-Order NOW

SoCal thrash metal force WARBRINGER will release their highly anticipated full-length follow up to 2017's acclaimed Woe To The Vanquished, entitled Weapons of Tomorrow, on April 24 via Napalm Records. Today, the band has unleashed a new video for the grandiose album closer track "Glorious End", which in theme with the album's concept, presents itself as a war epic narrated by an exchange between two close heroes – father and son.

Check out the brand new video below, and witness the somber tale and splendiferous sound of "Glorious End".

WARBRINGER vocalist John Kevill says:

"‘Glorious End' is the grand finale of Weapons of Tomorrow, and a first-person narrative war epic. The verse is done as a father-son dialogue, in which the son promises the father that he will live up to his ancestor's legacy of courage, honor, and duty. The song and title have a cruel twist of irony, as the protagonist's bravery is rendered useless by the horrific new weapons of his time, and he questions the virtues of his father as he dies.

This kind of narrative storytelling element is something we feel is pretty unique to WARBRINGER among thrash metal bands. The music is hard-charging and aggressive, but also somber, grandiose, and well, glorious. The epic side of WARBRINGER is something we haven't shared in a single yet, and we thought it was long overdue. Now onwards, brave sons."

With Weapons of TomorrowWARBRINGER have not only proven a true mastery of their craft, but have spurred the forward shift of an entire genre – transporting thrash metal into a brand-new era. Building upon their internationally-acclaimed blistering attack, Weapons of Tomorrow showcases a refreshed technical approach and a heightened focus on unique lyrical and vocal style. The record takes the promise of the band’s previous release,Woe to the Vanquished, and carries it onward, presenting WARBRINGER at their absolute best to date – over 10 years into their careers.

Pre-order Weapons of Tomorrow NOW

Weapons of Tomorrow was recorded with acclaimed producer Mike Plotnikoff – producer on Woe To The Vanquished and for artists such as In Flames and Fear Factory – and mixed by Zack Ohren, who is credited for the mix on WARBRINGER’s sophomore album,Waking Into Nightmares, as well as his work with artists like Machine Head and Immolation.

Weapons of Tomorrow contains a variety of themes, presenting a self-contained concept with each track, but ultimately focuses on the over-arching notion of modern technology endangering society rather than advancing it.

John Kevill says about the lyrical content of Weapons of Tomorrow:

“I put a lot of thought and detail into the lyrical content of this album. There’s often a ‘storytelling’ component, in which the song’s lyrics develop or turn along with the music and structure of the song. All in all, Weapons of Tomorrow contains elements of our previous album, Woe to the Vanquished, but takes them further and in new and exciting directions.”

Regarding the band’s advancing sound, Kevill adds:

“While containing speed-driven burners like ‘Firepower Kills’ and ‘Unraveling’ and crushing stomps like ‘The Black Hand Reaches Out’ and ‘Crushed Beneath the Tracks,’ Weapons of Tomorrow goes really big on the epic tracks, containing not one but four. Each has its own character. The forlorn and semi-ballad ‘Defiance of Fate’ breaks serious musical ground for us and is like no song in our catalogue. ‘Heart of Darkness’ and ‘Notre Dame (King of Fools)’ offer different takes on a dark, black metal-oriented sound, and “Glorious End” is a tragic war epic with a unique lyrical component.”

Formed in late 2004, WARBRINGER has gone on to be one of the most consistent and well-regarded thrash metal bands of the new generation. After releasing two demos, the band broke out with their 2008 debut, War Without End – a record illustrating a frantic energy and aggression which had been absent from metal for some time. The band continued to redefine their sound on each of their next four career-defining albums – 2009’s Waking Into Nightmares, 2011’s Worlds Torn Asunder, 2013’s Empires Collapse and 2017’s Woe To The Vanquished, their first via Napalm Records (Billboard - #8 New Artist Albums, #17 Hard Music Albums, #26 Current Rock and #29 Independent Current Albums). WARBRINGER has bolstered their performance roster by relentlessly touring internationally throughout five continents with iconic artists such as Megadeth, Exodus, Arch Enemy, Napalm Death, Iced Earth, Nile, Suffocation, Kreator, Soilwork, Overkill and many more, and found themselves working with industry greats on each new album – creating with producers such as Steve Evetts (Symphony X, DevilDriver, The Dillinger Escape Plan), Bill Metoyer (Slayer, D.R.I., Dark Angel), thrash legend Gary Holt (guitarist, Slayer/Exodus) and beyond. The ever-evolving quintet continues to renovate their potent concept with each passing year, without ever losing focus on the future. Metal Injection said it best, “…the almighty WARBRINGER have proven that they reign eternal… no matter what the circumstances.”

With one listen it’s clear, WARBRINGER has continued to move forward in their own unique direction, and Weapons of Tomorrow is pure, 21st century, state-of-the-art thrash like never heard before. Stay tuned for details on US tour dates, coming soon!

PARTS PER MILLION have released their new music video for single "2020 Vision."

PARTS PER MILLION have released their new music video for single "2020 Vision." The single is off of their upcoming EP titled The Cycle due out this spring. The video shows how effective a tool media can be in the hands of the most influential and powerful in society. Bias on certain channels can sway opinions toward certain sides or ideas while behind the scenes the strings are being pulled by all of the same influencers. Meant to inspire people to ask more questions about what they're being told across all platforms of media, the video seeks to unite instead of divide.

"When we wrote this song, it was always about the so-called news media's bias in either one direction or the other, and how the two sides are more alike than they are different. The constant narrative seems to be that you are either one extreme or the other, and most people seem to fall right into the traps of believing that this is the case. Meanwhile, the people who make the rules rarely seem to have to live by them, or at the very least are extremely out of touch with what life is like for a normal person. They thrive while we argue amongst ourselves. The dangers of a media that slants in one direction or the other is that eventually the water is so muddy that it's hard to even know what the truth is. That danger, has never made itself more clear then now, when in a time we need each other most, we still squabble over labeling each other and separating ourselves from each other over anything from age, sex, race, creed, politics, war, or religion, and being forced to choose between something or someone no one really wants. Few are happy with the direction everything seems to be traveling in, but complacency thrives in comfort. We just really want to start a conversation about how we can work together to start mending the damage. Start asking questions without bias. Start being open-minded" says Paul McSweeney.

He adds, "Kevin Billingslea of Halo Studios produced and mixed the entire EP The Cycle. We had it mastered by Grammy winning producer Adam Ayan of world-famous Gateway Studios. Once we had it in hand, we started story-boarding ideas on how we could convey the message, and how we could maybe raise some eyebrows with that message. We presented the ideas we had to Grammy nominated Project 2 StudiosAprilMay Creative Group built the sets over the course of a week before we started shooting, which took two days. The actors did an incredible job bringing their characters to life on the first day of shooting. The band scenes were done the next day in various locations including a rooftop scene of an old mill building with drone shots Director Alex Stintz brought his camera filming experience along with a lot of great ideas to help with 2020 Vision. The band and he spent a lot of extremely late nights editing and cutting scenes, around 8 hours of total footage. The amount of work that went into this video was astounding, and we couldn’t have done it without the many extremely talented individuals that helped make 2020 Vision a reality."

Parts Per Million is an independent rock band from the New England area founded by singer/songwriter Paul McSweeney and guitarist Brian Bailey. The band rounded out its line up with bassist Alex Mark's and drummer David MacCaulay.

The band uses each members abilities and different influences as the catalyst to form a sound surpassing something to be listened to and become something to be experienced. Parts Per Million intertwines the 90's era heavy rock and grunge while incorporating something that is rarely heard in rock music with four part singing harmonies, soaring guitar solos, and a chemistry between them that generate a sound that's unlike anything in today's rock scene.

VOODOO GODS Release Lyric Video For New Single "Rise of the Antichrist"

New Album "The Divinity Of Blood" on May 15th, 2020

There's no better day of the year to release a song called "Rise Of The Antichrist" like Holy Friday, isn't it?

That's why the death metal supergroup around George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher have released the second single of their upcoming album "The Divinity of God", tomorrow.

"Rise Of The Antichrist" will be available on April 10th, 2020 due all major streaming platform.

Mastermind Alex Voodoo states:

"Rise Of The Antichrist" will also be the opener for our new album. This is one of the few songs, where the drum melody was the pivotal point of the whole song. The title to the song already existed for several years.....In the lyric, the Antichrist destroys the worlds, their creed and the ikon of the Nazarene. Period !! “Rise Of The Antichrist” has some unusual guitar solos, I hope the fans will be caught off-guard and pleasantly surprised."

Jacek Hiro says about the song:

"Rise Of The Antichrist is my personal fave on the new album. I wanted it to be the first single, but Alex works in mysterious ways. I am very excited, what the fans will think of our new material."

Jean Baudin adds:"I’m excited for everyone to hear the new Voodoo Gods songs - I had a lot of fun coming up with unique basslines and parts that typically would never be heard in a metal song.”

Seth Van De Loo states:

“Rise of the Anti-Christ was a lot of fun to work on in the studio. Definitely one of my personal favorites!”

Tom Geldschläger (Co Producer) adds:

"I have great memories of my time working on the mix of the album and particularly this song in Andy's studio in sweden. Great performances from everybody involved plus great working-chemistry made this session pure joy. I think everybody nailed the old-school melodic death vibes, too."

Pre-order "The Divinity Of Blood" here:

www.reapermusic.de/voodoo-gods-the-divinity-of-blood

The first digital single "The Ritual of Thorn" is already available.

The official music video of the song is delayed because of the Covid-19 virus. But meanwhile you can check out the OFFICIAL VIDEO here: https://youtu.be/g3AjILjZ_R4

When death metal icons like George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher, guitar virtuoso Viktor Smolski, bass titan Jean Baudin and guitar god Jacek Hiro join together to form a death metal band, it reads like the membership list of the Metal Hall of Fame. This is the case with VOODOO GODS and therefore this band can be called a Death Metal Supergroup without exaggeration.

The second studio album "The Divinity Of Blood" of this all-star band (which attaches great importance not to be called a side project) will be released on May 15th, 2020 via Reaper Entertainment.

The album was produced by KING DIAMOND's Andy La Rocque who also took care of the mixing and mastering of the record. The result is a huge and powerful Death/Thrash Metal album which combines influences from voodooism, rituals and antichristian forces.

... and Oceans Premiere Music Video for New Song, "Five of Swords"

Symphonic black metal formation ...AND OCEANS are now premiering the official music video for the new song, "Five of Swords." The track is taken from the band's upcoming album 'Cosmic World Mother.'

Vocalist Mathias Lillmåns comments: "'Five of Swords' is a personal favorite of the album. An old-school ...and Oceans song made to fit the 2020s, topped with a cold, but still personal, minimalistic music video! It's a song that shows another side of 'Cosmic World Mother' and what it has to offer."

'Cosmic World Mother', will be released on May 8. Pre-orders are available HERE.

In 1998, debut album 'The Dynamic Gallery of Thoughts' received strong feedback in the media and the word got out at a fast pace, lead to a split album with label mates BLOODTHORN. Sophomore album 'The Symmetry of I, The Circle of O', released 1999, pushed the boundaries even further.

Entering the Abyss Studios with the Tägtgren brothers in 2000 changed the whole band once again. The album ‘A.M.G.O.D.’ was musically very far from the early symphonic black metal delirium with its electronic post-modern approach.

After touring with MARDUK, MORTICIAN and VADER, …AND OCEANS re-entered Abyss Studios to record a more elementary album featuring industrial and power electronics vibes. In 2002, when the last album 'Cypher' was released, the band had reached its full circle and decided to call it a day.

17 years later, a newfound energy stirred, and the Finns decided to reform for a selected amount of shows. Soon the musicians started working on a new album and came back to the Season of Mist fold. A couple of new faces have recently joined the band, including vocalist Mathias Lillmåns (FINNTROLL). …AND OCEANS’ new album ‘Cosmic World Mother’, sees the Finnish metal outfit return to a ferocious black metal sound, combined with industrial and symphonic influences. The songs are bristling with creativity and energy, intertwining the …AND OCEANS sound with elements from the different projects the musicians have played in over the years.

On the record, the six piece explores the transformations of physical and psychological energy. When we die, our bodies become energy for plants and animals… But what happens to the mind and the soul? The ‘Cosmic World Mother’ is at the heart of these streams of energy: the birthgiver, the one who transforms and the life-taker. All energy is eternal, it just changes forms…

WOLFHEART Releases Official Music Video forNew Track "The Hammer"

CLICK HERE to Buy Tickets to the Official WOLFHEART Virtual Concert

New Album, Wolves Of Karelia, out this Friday, April 10 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order NOW

Finnish heavy melodic death metal unit WOLFHEART recently announced the upcoming release of their new full-length Winter War epic, Wolves Of Karelia, out April 10, 2020 via Napalm Records.

Today, WOLFHEART has revealed the unrelenting, heavy-hitting single "The Hammer". A windmill-worthy intro is accented by sinister synth and marching percussion as the song switches effortlessly between black metal-inspired segments and melodic death metal riffage, closing with a somber acoustic passage. The video shows the band during the Wolves Of Karelia recording sessions with producer Saku Moilanen, giving fans an insider's look at behind-the-scenes studio footage. The video was filmed by Valtteri Hirvonen and edited by Winternotes Production.

WOLFHEART frontman Tuomas Saukkonen says about the track and video:

"'The Hammer' is the best song to describe the Finnish perseverance and willpower. 'Never surrender, Never retreat, The last defender, The hammer of the north'. Those lines really underline the fact that no matter what the conditions were, the enemy had to be stopped. Nature was the anvil and you had to become a hammer, and between those two, no invading army could survive.

With the video we wanted to reflect the brotherhood in the band and the crew in contrast to the wrath of the lyrics."

Just as wildlife itself maintains harmony with a violent clash of beauty and unpredictability, Wolves Of Karelia explores the band’s previously coined genre of “winter metal” – smoothly bridging a traditional approach of extreme genres while maintaining atmospheric and acoustic elements.

Listen to previously-revealed forlorn ode “Ashes” HERE, and the pummeling epic "Hail of SteelHERE.

The album’s lyrical and musical content is inspired by the Winter War waged between Russia and the band’s native country, Finland, which took place during the winter of November 1939-March 1940. Finland ultimately managed to stop the Russian troops from invading their country. WOLFHEART mastermind and frontman Tuomas Saukkonen was inspired by the personal stories of local veterans, conveying the tales of what they experienced and survived from their perspectives. Somber, frostbitten and heroic, Wolves Of Karelia portrays these tales with stunning musical precision.

WOLFHEART's exclusive virtual concert experience will be revealed just two days from now! The performance was pre-recorded at the Finlandia Klubi in Lahti, Finland and will provide fans with an absolute rager of a concert without having to leave the comfort and safety of their own homes.

The purchase of a virtual ticket will grant access to a full HD pro-mixed multicam video of the entire set, a Q&A video and a bonus full gear overview video, to be delivered on April 9. To learn more and to purchase your "ticket" to this exclusive virtual WOLFHEARTconcert, CLICK HERE.

NAPALM RECORDS

Garage Rock duo, THE DODIES, will release their debut album It’s One Hell of a Ride on April 24, 2020.

THE DODIES are a young garage rock duo from the southern desert of Israel. Yoni Avittan fronts the band as lead vocalist and guitarist, as Ran Aronson sings backing vocals while simultaneously playing bass lines on keyboard with one hand and playing the entire drum kit with the other.

In February 2020, THE DODIES premiered their whimsical video for single "Boiling Point" from their upcoming debut album It’s One Hell of a Ride due out on April 24, 2020. The album is produced by THE DODIES and co-producer Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal (Sons Of Apollo / ex-Guns N' Roses).

THE DODIES songs jump head-first into depression, alienation and rage, contrasted by hooky riffs and catchy melodies. They're a band that puts high importance on artistic integrity and uncompromising authenticity, always giving their full spirit in the studio and on stage.

"I was called in to co-produce a demo they were recording at a studio in Texas, end of 2018. I was blown away - great songwriters, performers, and lots of personality. Yoni (guitars/vocals) is a poetic uncompromising artist. Ran (drums/keys/backing vocals) plays the entire kit with his right arm while simultaneously playing bass on a synth with his left hand, and singing backing vocals, and does it effortlessly. Together they're a sight to be seen" says Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal.

Thal adds, "They put very high importance on integrity, everything being authentic in expressing who they are, I respect that a lot. My role was to make that happen. I flew out to them to record the full album. We recorded the music at a local studio, then recorded vocals and extras (tambourine, foot stomps, kicking rattling amps...) at Ran's house (I brought over mics and an interface). We did it all with no click track, no re-amping, no drum triggers, no auto-tune - just the two of them playing together, capturing the spirit, on their gear, everything in just a first or second take. We worked as a team the following months mixing, tweaking, obsessing over details until it was ready. I can truly say, I can't remember the last time I've felt so much heart and had so much fun producing a band, I want to see these guys go on to have a great future, and am grateful to be here at the start of it all."

The Dodies are:
Yoni Avittan - Singer / Guitarist
Ran Aronson - Drummer / Synth Bassist / Backing Vocalist

Helfró Release New Song, "Ávöxtur Af Rotnu Tré"

Icelandic black metal newcomers HELFRÓ are now premiering the new song "Ávöxtur Af Rotnu Tré," which is the third single from their self-titled debut album! The record will be released on Season of Mist Underground Activists on April 24. "Ávöxtur af rotnu tré" can be heard at THIS LOCATION.

HELFRÓ comment: "With great anticipation for the release of our debut album, we proudly present our third single!"

HELFRÓ's self-titled debut can be pre-ordered HERE.

GHOST IRIS SHARE NEW SINGLE & VIDEO "MADE TO RUST"

With their new stand-alone single ‘Made To Rust’ progressive groove metallers Ghost Irisonce again show the world what stern stuff they are made of.

Having been written around three years ago already in between their releases of ‘Blind World’ (2017, Long Branch Records/SPV) and ‘Apple Of Discord’ (2019, Long Branch Records/SPV), this banger perfectly combines the more djenty and clean approach of the band's earlier sounds and the heavier, groovier and darker tunes the Danish quartet has been developing and progressing towards since.

Ghost Iris about the new single release:

“We are thrilled to present our new song 'Made To Rust' to the world. We hope you enjoy what turned out to be one of our heaviest songs ever as much as we do. 'Made To Rust' has been resting for a while after having been written, but is now more than ready to mosh the pit up! Unfortunately we won't be able to play the song live for you for the time being, as our EU/UK tour with Our Hollow, Our Home in April/May this year had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis, but since #musicneverstops, we hope that you will be able to enjoy our new single at home just as well."

Line Up:

Jesper Vicencio Gün - Vocals

Nicklas Grønlund Thomsen - Guitar

Daniel Leszkowicz - Guitar

Sebastian Linnet - Drums

ATREYU RELEASE "SUPER HERO" VIDEO FEATURING AVENGED SEVENFOLD'S M. SHADOWS + UNDEROATH'S AARON GILLESPIE — WATCH

Atreyu have shared the video for "Super Hero" from their 2018-released album In Our Wake. The track features appearances from Avenged Sevenfold frontman M.Shadows and Underoath drummer/vocalist Aaron Gillespie.

"Our song 'Super Hero' was written about what it's like to be a parent and the vast amount of time, effort, energy, and hard work it takes to be a real-life superhero for your children," the band says. "The song also has a broader meaning, especially given the current situation the entire world is dealing with. There are many superheroes out there who appear in many forms — namely the first responders, medical personnel, and health care workers who are putting others first as they work to fight COVID-19 and to save lives. We dedicate this song to them."

Atreyu are working on their eighth album, due out via Spinefarm Records later this year.
