“They’re really not like anything we’ve heard in hardcore in decades actually. Zero Trusts are
dedicated to crafting an incredibly clean, dexterous, and melodic form of punk music
that still manages to muster an intimidating sonic presence.”
- New Noise Magazine

“It'll take you right back to the days of '90s alt-metal.” - BrooklynVegan

“On Zero Trust’s debut EP, firebrand vocalist BJ Allen leads the charge,
delivering vocals that are sharp and dynamic.”
- Afropunk

Today, New York-based Zero Trust have shared their heavy new single “Portraits” out on Equal Vision Records. The song is controlled chaos at its finest - a melding of jagged metalcore riffs, hardcore attitude, and melodic vocals centered around confronting your mortality.

Expanding on the meaning behind the song, vocalist BJ Allen stated:
"Portraits is about suddenly being confronted with mortality then reflecting on your limited time on earth and how you will be perceived when you are gone."

Zero Trust, formed as a creative outlet during the ongoing pandemic, is completed by members of Coheed and Cambria, Bulldoze, Full Scale Riot, Agents of Man, Skarhead, and more. The group of hardcore veterans collectively builds upon a hard to define sound, blurring the lines of metal, hardcore, and alternative rock. You can watch the lyric video for “Portraits” here and stream the track here.

About Zero Trust
This past March, Zero Trust partnered with Equal Vision Records for the release of their self-titled EP, featuring dual singles “Birch” and “Get It”. Having partially written the record pre-pandemic, Zero Trust finished the writing process virtually and recorded at the band’s Barrel Hannah Studio in Nyack, New York. The band’s debut is an immediately hard-hitting and emotional experience, balancing their years of collective songwriting experience with a focus on pushing heavy music forward. Across the two tracks, vocalist BJ Allen reflects on how the systems in our society are working against the working class, and the collective reality that our world is permanently changed. Not satisfied by simply rearranging the same ingredients from the myriad of genres the members have already made a lasting impact on, Zero Trust opts for channeling their aggression into a new form that can’t be pigeonholed.

Zero Trust is: Vocalist BJ Allen (Full Scale Riot, Ghidrah, GMK), guitarists Zack Thorne (Bulldoze, Agents of Man, Skarhead, etc.) and Mike Milewski (Bulldoze, Homicidal, etc.), Travis Stever (Coheed and Cambria) on bass and backing vocals, and drummer Evan Rossiter (Full Scale Riot, Organyc).

May 27, 2021 - The legendary post-hardcore group, Thursday, are in the midst of a year of landmark anniversaries, including the twentieth anniversary of their breakout album Full Collapse and the tenth anniversary of their last release No Devolución. However, today the band released the long-awaited reissue of their 1999 full-length, Waiting. The always-coveted debut album has been long out of print until now, available on vinyl and streaming services through Velocity Records, the newly relaunched label in partnership with Equal Vision Records.

Speaking on the band’s debut effort, vocalist Geoff Rickly says:
“Most people think 'Full Collapse' is our first album but twenty two years ago, we took a bunch of demos out of the basement where we’d been writing and holding shows, and put them all together in one place to make our debut album, 'Waiting'. A lot has changed in those intervening years—- the record has gone out of print several times— but every single time I listen to this record, I can hear the start of Thursday, I can hear our hopes and dreams and all the ideas that would define the band, starting to take shape.”

Thursday teased the reissue in the lead-up to their Signals V3 - Full Devolución livestream event by offering a limited edition vinyl variant alongside tickets, which sold out immediately upon release. Waitingis now widely available to stream and to preorder on vinyl here.

“Kaonashi might be your new favorite thing.” - Loudwire

“Some the most uniquely chaotic post-hardcore you'll hear all year.” - BrooklynVegan

“A true masterpiece of modern music and storytelling.” - New Transcendence

“A totally bonkers concept record about a fictional high-schooler named Jamie that sounds like everything
from the Blood Brothers to Coheed and Cambria to Periphery.”
- Revolver

Today, Philadelphia, PA band Kaonashi released their highly anticipated debut full-length, Dear Lemon House, You Ruined Me: Senior Year, on Equal Vision Records/Unbeaten Records. The concept album follows the character Jamie, who was first introduced on the band’s Why Did You Do It? EP, through Lemon House High and the different people they interact with. From their first day of school, a romantic relationship with Casey, and the turmoil that comes with being an American teenager, the eleven tracks on the album tell a unique, emotionally turbulent story in the world Kaonashi has created.

The heavy storyline on the album is accompanied by an expansive sound, building off of the band’s self-coined genre of “emo mathcore.” While math rock-driven moments and cathartic lyrics are still prominent, the band adds in elements of post-hardcore, progressive rock, and even an acoustic ballad, making for a diverse listen. Songs like “Market Street (Chardonnay, Diamonds, & Me)” and “Run Away Jay” are a force to be reckoned with, weaving intricate guitars and hard-hitting drums, while “Fuck Temple University” and “The Underdog I: Blue Pop” balance the franticness of Kaonashi with more melodic moments.

The writing process was a collaborative experience as the group locked themselves away in a cabin in Maine for two weeks, later returning back to the state to record with producer Evan Sammons. Among the band’s groove-heavy chaos found throughout Dear Lemon House, You Ruined Me: Senior Year, there is a clear, resounding message that Kaonashi hopes their audience will take to heart: It’s all about listening. You can stream the album here now and purchase it here.

To celebrate the release of the album, Kaonashi will head out on tour across North America this fall supporting Hail The Sun, alongside Kurt Travis and Body Thief. A full list of tour dates and ticket info can be found here: https://iconicticketing.com/

Kaonashi is Peter Rono (vocals), Ryan Paolilli (drums), August Axcelson (bass/vocals), Alex Hallquist (guitar/vocals), and Roger Alvarez (guitar).

Tooth and Claw (Earth Crisis, Sect, Magnitude) release debut LP 'Dream of Ascension'

TOOTH AND CLAW RELEASES DEBUT FULL-LENGTH
DREAM OF ASCENSION

OUT NOW VIA GOOD FIGHT MUSIC

FEATURING MEMBERS OF EARTH CRISIS, DIE YOUNG, SECT,
AND MAGNITUDE

LISTEN: Dream of Ascension

"It's a dose of chunky, chugging metalcore, but it's got a brooding, atmospheric side that gives things an experimental, artful twist.” - BrooklynVegan

“About as close to a tour de force as we’ve seen in metallic hardcore in some time.” - Decibel Magazine

“Metallic hardcore and streaks of death metal collide throughout, both of which are driven by a varied collection of riffs that do more than just set the pace.” - Heaviest of Art

“Both exhilarating and chilling.” - No Clean Singing

Metallic hardcore group Tooth and Claw released their debut full-length Dream of Ascension today via Good Fight Music. The relatively new group of veteran musicians formed just last year to delve into new avenues of aggression, while mixing hardcore and death metal. Their debut effort achieves that mission in spades, exploring the duality of human existence through a harsh sonic onslaught that is full of surprises. While the band stays on the attack throughout the nine tracks that make up Dream of Ascension, they set themselves apart with a haunting atmosphere, adding an unexpected but welcome layer to the dynamics found on the album.

Speaking on their debut, vocalist Daniel Austin says:
“While we clearly set out to be a “heavy” band, we had ambition to make this a band that would at least flirt with brief ethereal soundscapes, not just bludgeon you with chunky riffs the entire time. Hence the synth parts, hence the chanting and singing parts, hence the flourishes of melody all throughout the record. Tooth and Claw was not meant to be one thing–not musically, and not lyrically either.”

About Tooth and Claw
Formed during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place orders of Spring 2020, Tooth and Claw features Scott Crouse (Earth Crisis, Sect), Daniel Austin (Die Young), James Chang (Undying, Catharsis, Sect), and Cameron Joplin (Magnitude) exploring new realms of aggression. On their debut album, Dream of Ascension, Tooth and Claw skirt the typical tropes found in hardcore by mixing their bludgeoning attacks with sinister melodies, achieving a balance of innovation and pure aggression. Dream of Ascension is due out May 21st through Good Fight Music.

“One of post-hardcore's most promising bands” - Loudwire

“10 songs that find Hail The Sun pushing their creative boundaries in every way, taking the band's penchant for crafting lush instrumentals and soaring vocal melodies to lofty new heights.” - New Noise Magazine (Issue 56)

“A therapeutic show of artistry that is arguably the band’s most ambitious yet.” - Knotfest

Following the release of their album New Age Filth this past April, Hail The Sun have announced they’ll be touring in support of the record this fall across North America. Presented by Equal Vision Records, the tour will also feature the openers Kaonashi, who will release their debut album on May 21st via EVR, as well as Kurt Travis and Body Thief. When Hail The Sun entered the studio to record what would become New Age Filth, they knew they were setting out to make their most collaborative and diverse album yet. Consisting of Donovan Melero (vocals/drums), Aric Garcia (guitar), John Stirrat (bass) and Shane Gann (guitar), the band spent a month living in an apartment attached to producer Kris Crummett’s (A Lot Like Birds, Nova Charisma, Dance Gavin Dance) studio which provided a much different experience from the creation of prior albums. The ten songs on New Age Filth showcase the band’s post-hardcore roots blended with elements of alternative and progressive rock, proving the band’s ability to be extremely technical in instrumentation while also unleashing some of the catchiest hooks they’ve ever created. The lyrics, penned by Melero, center around the theme of reflection, weaving through painful and emotional experiences of love, cynicism, and touching on how awful humans can be to one another.

Having sold through nine vinyl variants of the album and seeing an overwhelming response from fans and critics alike since the release of the album, New Age Filth marks a milestone for Hail The Sun. As they prepare to hit the stage performing these songs for the first time live, they are eager to give their audience a dynamic and memorable experience.

Tooth and Claw (Earth Crisis, Sect, Magnitude) share haunting new single "Seventy Times Seven"

“Both exhilarating and chilling.” - No Clean Singing

Metallic hardcore group Tooth and Claw shared their haunting new single “Seventy Times Seven” today via a premiere with BrooklynVegan. Taken from the band’s upcoming debut full-length Dream of Ascension, the track starts out with eerie clean guitar before quickly shifting into a harsh chugging attack. The band continues to mix these extreme dynamics throughout “Seventy Times Seven”, exploring out-of-the-box elements that the accomplished members haven’t delved into on previous projects. This duality matches the track’s concept of exploring the existential horror of what lies beneath the surface of one’s psyche. Listen to “Seventy Times Seven” here ahead of the release of Dream of Ascension on May 21st via Good Fight Music, which is available for preorder here.

Speaking to BrooklynVegan about the creation of the song, vocalist Daniel Austin says:
“So Scott sends me the song and warns me there is a spooky clean part in it, and I laughed, but I immediately thought I have to do something different here, that there was a lot of potential in this song to strike some deep, uncomfortable chords in myself, and listeners, too. I didn’t think it would be appropriate to scream over the clean part. I don’t consider myself someone with a knack for singing (to speak of myself kindly), so I tried to channel my inner Leonard Cohen. I figured if I could hold two notes like Leonard while delivering some hard-hitting, heavy lyrics, I might be able to make this work! I feel satisfied with the result. Both Scott and I tried something new here, and it really caused us to develop a fondness for this song.”

NONE MORE BLACK Box Set Out Now

NONE MORE BLACK Box Set

Black Label Society premiered the official music video for “House of Doom” today in a series of new videos from the band’s NONE MORE BLACK box set, available now via Entertainment One (eOne). “House of Doom” is a ballad reworking by Zakk Wylde and co. of the original track taken from Black Label Society’s fifth studio album Hangover Music Vol. VI (2004). That album alongside the rest of the group’s catalog is now reissued, and remastered for the first time, as part of the new massive collection titled NONE MORE BLACK. This new, slow-burning version of “House of Doom,” and the previously released track “Blind Man”, are featured on the compilation of reworked originals and bonus tracks titled Song Remains Not The Same Vol. 2 as part of the box set. Boasting 12 full-length albums spread over 20 pieces of vinyl, a hardcover photo book documenting the band, and much more, NONE MORE BLACK is the ultimate BLS fan collection. The limited quantity release is now available to order in eOne Heavy’s US, UK and EU stores here.

About Black Label Society
Black Label Society bandleader Zakk Wylde wields his guitar like a Viking weapon, bashing out thick riffage and squeezing out expressive squeals as if the glory of his Berserker brotherhood depends upon every single note, which of course, it does.

Charismatic beast and consummate showman, Wylde puts his massive heart and earnest soul on display with unbridled, unchained, animalistic passion in Black Label Society, whether it’s a crushingly heavy blues-rock barnstormer or a piano-driven ode to a fallen brother. Each Black Label Society album is another opportunity to top the one before it, but like AC/DC or The Rolling Stones, BLS isn’t here to reinvent the wheel. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It’s a brand we can trust.

Mighty missives like “Damn the Flood,” “In This River,” “Stillborn,” “My Dying Time,” “Queen of Sorrow,” and “Blood is Thicker Than Water” have amassed millions of downloads and streams. They are the soundtracks to sweat-soaked revelry, jubilant evenings that descend into bewildering mornings, and adrenaline-fueled sports.

To many, Wylde is synonymous with pinch harmonics as much as Chuck Berry dreamt up the duck walk. Zakk’s signature Les Paul Bullseye guitar hangs in the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. His infamous leather bell bottoms hang in the Grammy Museum. His handprints are on Hollywood’s Rock Walk of Fame. He’s performed the National Anthem at major sporting events. He wrote the 2013 Major League Baseball theme for ESPN. He even momentarily joined Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff in Guns N’ Roses. He is a playable character in the Guitar Hero games.

A lifelong disciple of Black Sabbath and the longest-serving guitar-shredder for the Ozzman himself, Wylde co-wrote modern Ozzy Osbourne classics like “No More Tears,” “Mama I’m Coming Home,” “Road to Nowhere,” and “Miracle Man.” Together with Ozzy bassist Blasko and drummer Joey Castillo (ex-Queens Of The Stone Age), Wylde pays faithful tribute to the forefathers of metal as frontman for Zakk Sabbath.

One part invading horde and all parts traveling carnival party, Black Label Society traverses the world powered by caffeine and cacophony. BLS engages and inspires audiences everywhere they go, on every radio dial they burn, inviting all comers to join in and participate in their brotherhood and sisterhood of hard rock and vigor.

Now ten studio albums deep, with solo records, Ozzy shows, and Zakk Sabbath tours all kicking ass simultaneously, Black Label Society rides ever forward, fist held high.

Dario Lorina - Guitar / Jeff Fabb - Drums

CRYPTODIRA ANNOUNCE A STORM CALLED PROGRESS LIVESTREAM HAPPENING MAY 11th & 12th

PERFORMING THEIR NEW ALBUM THE ANGEL OF HISTORY IN FULL

The New York-based progressive death metal group, Cryptodira, have announced their upcoming 2-day livestream event titled A Storm Called Progress, an in-studio, full performance of their newest album The Angel Of History. Captured at Graphic Nature Audio, the session was engineered by Matt Guglielmo, and mixed and mastered by Jamie King. Happening on May 11th and 12th at 7pm ET, the stream will be available to watch for free on the band's Twitch channel (twitch.tv/CryptodiraBand) while the band will be present to virtually chat with fans. Following the full album performance, fans can expect play-throughs, lyric analysis, and the individual song performances to be released every month.

Speaking on the event, vocalist/guitarist Scott Acquavella says:

"As a band that's always done things the old fashioned way of writing, recording, and touring, pandemic life has been a particularly weird adjustment for us. Having put out a record in the middle of it, we were hellbent on finding a way to bring people closer to The Angel of History than anything else we've done before, and the answer to that was A Storm Called Progress.

A Storm Called Progress is centered around a live, in-studio performance of The Angel of History recorded at Graphic Nature Audio and mixed/mastered by Jamie King that will be premiered as a two day live stream event on our Twitch Channel. From there, the following months will see a series of video releases, with each month being dedicated to a different song on the record. For each song there will be an instrumental play-through video, a deep dive lyrical analysis video, and a video cut of that individual song from the live performance to explore The Angel of History in a completely different context.

We weren't content to just put out any old video performance in a sea of COVID-inspired live streams and it was important to us to release a body of work that would be engaging for listeners and creatively challenging for us, pandemic or not."

Their sophomore full-length The Angel Of History, out now via Good Fight Music, marks their most dynamic and intricate efforts yet. Put best by BrooklynVegan, the band achieve a balance of, “mind-meltingly complex as it is headbangingly abrasive as it is genuinely tuneful.” Co-produced by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, The Contortionist, Vatican) and Cryptodira, The Angel Of History is available to buy and stream here.

April 20, 2021 - The Contortionist, the champions of progressive rock, announced their virtual performance experience, Clairvoyant - A Full Album Performance, taking place on May 15th. The band’s latest full-length album, Clairvoyant, was originally released in 2017 to critical acclaim and marked their highest charting effort to date. Since releasing their 2019 EP, Our Bones, The Contortionist has been quietly working in the background, until recently when they headlined eOne Heavy’s virtual concert earlier this spring. On May 15th, the band’s performance of Clairvoyant in its entirety will air at 7pm ET and be available to view on-demand for 48 hours afterwards. Tickets are on sale now alongside a very limited number of VIP tickets that include a pre-show hang with the band via Zoom. Find tickets and VIP here.

Speaking on the upcoming event, vocalist Michael Lessard commented:
"I can't explain how thrilled we are as a band to be able to stream this live performance of our album 'Clairvoyant.' This set is the first time in the band's history playing one of our records in its entirety, and we're all beyond excited for everyone to experience it!"

The Contortionist is fearless in their musical expression, creating progressive rock that is anchored in the heavy sounds that first drew the individual players to the stage, yet unmoored by convention or expectation. On the band’s fourth full-length, Clairvoyant, their distinctive fingerprints remain, even as their atmospheric flourishes broaden to encompass ever-richer textures and mine the beauty of simplicity. The 2017 release reunited the band with producer Jamie King (Between The Buried And Me), and took the best elements of The Contortionist’s past and reshaped them as the band followed their individual creative muses toward the future. The breakout album was praised by fans and critics alike, noted as a milestone in broadening the horizons of heavy music. Metal Injection praised Clairvoyant for its “impactful, ambitious, and unified” sound, likening the band’s creative and stylistic evolution to that of Opeth and TesseracT. In an enthusiastic 5 out of 5 review, MetalSucks called it “a perfect album” and rightfully declared, “The Contortionist have thrust themselves into the conversation for being one of metal’s all-time greats.”

Today, Chico, CA band Hail The Sun released their highly anticipated fifth album, New Age Filth, on Equal Vision Records. To celebrate the record, the band have shared a music video for track “Misfire,” set in a dystopian dreamscape. Speaking about the track vocalist and drummer Donovan Melero states, “'Misfire' is about feeling so detached from everyone that even while going through the motions of normal behaviors, it feels like you're watching yourself as an outsider. We often try to validate ourselves in ways we think are necessary.” You can watch the video for “Misfire” here and purchase the record at newagefilth.com.

When Hail The Sun entered the studio to record what would become New Age Filth, they knew they were setting out to make their most collaborative and diverse album yet. Consisting of Melero, Aric Garcia (guitar), John Stirrat (bass), and Shane Gann (guitar), the band spent a month living in an apartment attached to producer Kris Crummett’s (A Lot Like Birds, Nova Charisma, Dance Gavin Dance) studio which provided a much different experience from the creation of prior albums.

Having sold through nine vinyl variants before the album was released, the anticipation for the record marks a milestone in the band’s career not only from a fan perspective but for the band to share these songs and watch as they take on purpose. Eager to get back on stage, the band will be hosting a live stream concert on April 17th with tickets available here now.

‘68 RELEASE BOLD NEW ALBUM GIVE ONE TAKE ONE OUT NOW VIA COOKING VINYL

March 26, 2021 - The noisy Atlanta duo ‘68 released their third full-length studio album Give One Take One, out now via Cooking Vinyl. Across ten tracks, vocalist and guitarist Josh Scogin (The Chariot, Norma Jean) and drummer Nikko Yamada, display their boldest songwriting yet, laden with hooks without losing any of their raw, in-your-face approach. The duo balance blistering walls of sound with nuanced songwriting to keep the listener on their toes from beginning to end. Produced by Grammy-winner Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice In Chains), Give One Take One is built on pure energy, a wild ride of ingenuity that still manages to be danceable and fun. In addition to the hand-drawn and animated music video for the single “Bad Bite”, Scogin also created a documentary around the making of the album, only viewable to those who pre-ordered the record. Watch a teaser for the documentary here and listen to the album here.

Speaking on the album release, Scogin said:
“This album has been a long time coming. We recorded in the summer of 2019 and had to sit on them until now, the next step in to see these songs fulfilled live. I’m hoping that comes sooner than later.”

He further commented on the creation of the documentary:
“While we sat in limbo during the 2020 shutdown, I gathered all my footage that I had and created a documentary. It was mostly done for fun, to keep me from losing my mind because I’m not good at sitting idle. The end product shows a small glimpse into the world of ‘68 and how winging it by the seat of your pants can be a real adventurous way to live.”

How much noise can two people make? ‘68 is the sound of simultaneous implosion and explosion, of destruction and creation unbound. These are songs that could almost fall apart at any moment, yet never do, devilishly dancing between life and death. It’s a primitive impulse delivered with postmodern purpose; a blacksmith’s resolve with an arsenal of electric distortion and raw nerve.

Josh Scogin kickstarted his small band with the big sound in 2013, naming the two-man outfit he modestly undersells as “a little rock, a little blues, a little hardcore” after his father’s old Camaro. And there’s a muscle car-sized rumble beneath the hood of what the Atlanta, Georgia native and his percussive partner-in-crime, Nikko Yamada, unleash with an array of guitar, bass, drums, keys, and pedals, careening between swinging barnburners, wild haymakers, and moody atmosphere.

The ’68 roadshow has taken them from Moscow to Tel Aviv, across Europe and Australia and all-over North America, often splitting up 20-hour drives between the two guys. The passion, the hunger, the good humor, it all connects with diverse crowds. Deliciously stripped down and vibrant, ’68 excels in intimate environments, to be sure, but is no less unignorable on giant festival stages or on the road with Bring Me The Horizon, Stone Sour, Beartooth, Avatar, August Burns Red, The Amity Affliction, and Underoath, where they’ve earned new converts every day.

In Humor and Sadness, the first album by ’68, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard New Artist Chart. Two Parts Viper followed in 2017. “[‘68] bring the noise in the most righteous ways, caring less about the scene they came up through, the bloodless drivel that passes as ‘indie’ and the boring earnestness currently permeating ‘punk,’” declared Alternative Press. “Two Parts Viper is the best record of the year. Throw a copy in my casket, because I’ll never be done listening to it.”

Grammy-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice In Chains) became a believer after just a few songs of a ’68 set. On Give One Take One, crafted with Raskulinecz in Nashville, the band’s high intensity bombast threatens but never swallows the underlying groove.

With the same spirit of scrappy “winging it” and punchy minimalism that powered the Flat Duo Jets and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, ’68 push forward the pure rock traditions of audacity and disruption. Scogin gives everything to the microphone, as if singing to redeem his soul. He wields his guitar and keys like weapons, pulverizing away any false pretenses. It’s about the riff and the kick. It’s immediate. It’s alive. And it’s fun. Sweaty catharsis, cutting missives, surrendered by ’68 as if the world depends on them. Because in ’68, less is more. Oh, so much more.

ZERO TRUST RELEASE DEBUT EP AND MUSIC VIDEO FOR “BIRCH”

FEATURING MEMBERS OF COHEED AND CAMBRIA, BULLDOZE, AND MORE

OUT NOW VIA EQUAL VISION RECORDS

STREAM: Zero Trust

The New York-based group Zero Trust celebrated the release of their self-titled debut today in partnership with Equal Vision Records. Zero Trust might be a new name, but they boast résumé credits spanning decades of the most creative, cutting-edge pockets of the area's storied hardcore scene. With a lineup consisting of members of Coheed and Cambria, Bulldoze, Full Scale Riot, Agents of Man, Skarhead, and more, the group formed as a creative outlet during the quarantined isolation of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On their inaugural release, Zero Trust expands upon their collective experience, blurring the lines between hardcore, metal, and alternative rock with substantive lyrical themes from vocalist BJ Allen, who reflects on the socio-political turmoil that has erupted throughout the past year. To accompany the release, Zero Trust also shared the official music video for the opening track “Birch”. Zero Trust is out now and available to stream here.

Speaking on the single, BJ Allen (vocals) says:
“Birch is about exploring the part of your mind that knows the whole system is against you, while also knowing that if humanity were to be unified, civil and just we would be in a much better position.”

This March, Zero Trust partners with Equal Vision Records for the release of their self-titled EP, featuring dual singles “Birch” and “Get It”.

Midwest hardcore band, Purgatory, debuted the second single “Loyalty Denied” today, taken from their upcoming sophomore album Lawless To Grave that is due out April 9th via Unbeaten Records. The new track, about personal betrayal, captures the band's expert ability at creating something that sounds like it's from a classic era of metal and hardcore all while putting their own spin on it. Mixing hard as nails riffing with gruff melodic tendencies, Purgatory is on track to top their widely lauded debut, Cold Side of Reality, with a steady release of new singles including the album opener “Stack ‘Em Up” and “No One Gets Out Alive”. Their latest, “Loyalty Denied” is available to stream here and Lawless To Grave is available for pre-order here.

Speaking on the track, vocalist Matt Anderson says:
"You have people who you think love you but they just use your personal struggles for their amusement and gain as well as belittling everyone else around them when at the end of the day they’re the weakest people on the planet."

Formed in the cold and desolate midwest in 2011, Purgatory, slings unflinching metallic hardcore with an emphasis on the metal sown into their sound, or as they’ve been dubbed, “Midwest Street Metal”. Pulling from influences foundational to their gritty world of hardcore such as Biohazard, Cold As Life, Stigmata, and Merauder, the band is just as influenced by their love of metal such as Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, and Deicide. Regardless of what end of the heavy spectrum they fall, the band’s overflowing supply of raw and untethered anger comes through in full-force in Purgatory’s latest effort.

In the spring of 2021, Purgatory returns with their sophomore full-length and most confrontational release yet titled Lawless To Grave. Due out April 9th, via Unbeaten Records, the band spent the better part of a year fleshing out new ideas in a collaborative manner that hadn’t been done with previous lineups, and it pays off. Across the eleven tracks, Purgatory, composed of Matt Anderson (vocals), Josh Mata (guitar), Brian Pilla (guitar), Tito Richmond (bass), and Collin St. Mary (drums), flex their best songwriting to date and most interesting moments of heaviness and honesty.

Recorded in only four days at Landmine Studios with Len Carmichael, Purgatory took the collective memories of their members, and the universal struggles the population faces into account while writing Lawless To Grave, offering the listener an unfiltered look into the darkness and futility of life in middle-American. Personal betrayal, encounters with the justice system, a country run by racist, corrupt politicians, and experiences with abusive, religious, and addicted family members all lead Anderson and the band to the conclusions found on Lawless To Grave. While all these factors and vengeful reactions to them can shape a calloused life, the only factor one can control is who you choose to be at your core, guided by the set of personal rules you follow. Purgatory takes a deep dive into the constant war of everyday life, the compounding stressors that bring people to a knife’s edge, and capture the anxiety and grit of simply getting by in their crushing swing at the world, Lawless To Grave.

Over the past several years Purgatory has become a rising force in both the hardcore and metal scenes, leading the charge out of the grim Midwest with their debut LP, Cold Side of Reality. As a potent live force, the band has shared stages with such notables as Power Trip, Harm’s Way, Twitching Tongues, Ringworm, Terror, Merauder, and more. In 2021, Purgatory unleash their urgent and cathartic full-length Lawless To Grave into a world of chaos.
