Barcelona's experimental rockers OBSIDIAN KINGDOM have partnered with Prog Magazine to stream their new album, 'MEAT MACHINE,' ahead of tomorrow's release!

The band comments: "The moment of truth has come! We wrote 'MEAT MACHINE' to find something within ourselves, but we did it for you. Not because we wanted to show you our insides, but rather to encourage you to undertake the same adventure. It is violent and disturbing, like cutting open a living thing; and also messy and painful, because we had to make up our surgical tools on the go. The results of the autopsy are thrilling, baffling and somewhat beautiful. Putting this together took a great deal of effort and suffering, and our trip wasn’t always funny. But we believe it was worth it, regardless of the outcome. So did we lose the plot, or have we discovered something new and exciting? Ride the machine and find out! "

OBSIDIAN KINGDOM is devoted to exploring the boundaries of rock music. The Barcelonan band defies classification to this very day, drawing equally on progressive rock, post-metal, alternative and electronic music. However hard to pigeonhole, it remains consistent with delivering exciting artistry that never fails to surprise its audience.

Forever on a restless journey to find its true identity, the quintet has been dubbed “the masters of every genre” by Metal Injection. Featuring a heavy and intense sound with plenty of contrast, its main features are the ability to portray a wide range of emotions through the use of multiple sonic resources, a deep interest in aesthetics and the sombre quality of the lyrical topics.

‘MEAT MACHINE’ is an exercise in self-discovery, through a head-first plunge into the anxiety derived from sexual frustration, the absurd of reality and the inherent cruelty of a mechanized world. It is a demanding album that reads as an emotional roller-coaster, featuring an abrasive and overwhelming sound that draws equally from noise and art rock, post metal and late 90s alternative music.

Belgian post-rockers OBSIDIAN KINGDOM have teamed up with New Noise Magazine to premiere the macabre music video for their new single, "THE PUMP." The song is taken from the band's upcoming opus, 'MEAT MACHINE.' The video, which is not for the faint of heart.

“’THE PUMP’ is a feverish delirium about the absurd nature of the world symbolized in a giant machine that constantly grinds and spawns flesh at the same time—neither good nor evil, but blindly bound to function forever in a meaningless course of processing meat,” the band explains.

“Although devoid of morality or compassion, the whole scene doesn’t lack a certain sense of humor. ‘THE PUMP’ is a frantic and dissonant song featuring the broken beat of a stupid mechanism. The main feelings portrayed are brutality and disorientation, but the chorus is also epic and liberating. Behind its grisly façade lies a veiled truth: that comedy may be the compass to find beauty at the heart of horror.”

The perverse album is a rough drop into a nightmarish world of forbidden desires, frustrated sexual urges and the dark realms of the subconscious mind. In conjunction with the announcement, the band has unveiled the intense and heavy first single, "MEAT STAR," along with a stunning new music video. Directed by Ferran Ureña (Vivir Rodando) and Eric Morales (Universal Music Group), the video features a top-notch production that weaves together a tale of humankind's primal nature.

The band comment: "Reminiscent of the magickal works of Alejandro Jodorowsky or Kenneth Anger, 'MEAT STAR' is a bizarre dream-like odyssey where symbols old and new walk hand in hand to convey a powerful message: the meaning of your existence will eventually find you, and the price will be some kind of death. 'MEAT STAR' is a song about accepting hardship and pain as a means of discovering your true purpose, and the transformation and sacrifices you must undergo once you've committed yourself to that very goal. It is the soundtrack to the crucifixion, to the dismemberment of Dionysus and to the drowning of Osiris. It is an ode to the regenerative power of endings, once you’ve realized that surrendering is the only way to win."
