ONErpm Nashville is proud to announce the signing of local singer/songwriter Jay Allen to its in-house label. The independent music company will also handle distribution for Allen’s new music, including his next single, “Jello Shot,” co-written with his longtime producer, Micah Wilshire, and hit songwriter Cory Batten (“She Wouldn’t Be Gone”/Blake Shelton). The rowdy, uptempo single will be released Friday, June 16, on all platforms, followed by a supporting video premiering Friday, June 30. Listen to Allen's latest releases HERE.

An Iowa native and former The Voice contestant, Allen couldn’t be happier to be joining the ONErpm family. “After years of fighting against Alzheimer’s, I feel like it’s finally time to start having fun, and I believe it’s what my mother would want as well,” he says. “It’s awesome how God works and connects you with the right people at the right time. Emmanuel Zunz and Tim Wipperman are like big brothers to me, along with the rest of the talented and hard-working team.” Allen adds enthusiastically, “This is going to be a blast, and I’m pumped to show everyone what we’ve been working on.”

“Jay Allen is one of the most driven, focused and versatile talents we’ve signed,” says Tim Wipperman, managing director of ONErpm Nashville. “He has that rare capability to believably sing a tender ballad about his mom, then switch to a rockin’, bootie-shaking dance song and kick butt. We’re stoked to have him.”

Allen is performing with a full band on Sunday, June 11, at 6 p.m. on the Hard Rock stage during CMA Music Fest week in Nashville. In addition to his appearance on NBC’s The Voice, Allen has recently been featured on ABC’sWorld News Tonight, PeopleTV, Pickler & Ben, and in People and Forbes magazines, among others. He was selected as The Highway Find on Sirius XM in 2017 with his song “Sounds Good to Me”; won the 2022 Country Now Awards as Favorite Competition Contestant; and was recognized as one of Music Mayhem magazine’s 2023 Artists to Watch.

Allen was also presented with the Alzheimer’s Association’s Caregiving Award in 2019. After seeing his mother suffer from the debilitating effects of Alzheimer’s, Allen wrote the moving tribute, “Blank Stares.” A video of him performing the song with his mother on stage in Iowa went viral, with over 500 million views on Facebook. His mother has since passed, but Allen continues to tour the country as an advocate for the Alzheimer’s Association, and the song has gone on to raise over $100 million to help fight the disease.

Last fall, Allen married rising UMG country artist Kylie Morgan. For more information, visit

Newly married Nashville singer-songwriter and Voice contestant Jay Allen is giving his fans a wedding gift. His new single, “No Present Like the Time,” will be released Friday, Dec. 2 via global marketing and distribution giant ONErpm.

“I wrote ‘No Present Like the Time’ with (friend and frequent collaborator) Nate Kenyon and Micah Wilshire right before I went on The Voice,” Allen explains, after an intense grieving period over losing his mother. “It was 2019, she was my world, and only 54 when Alzheimer’s devastated our family,” he adds. “What I experienced during those years was a sort of sadness and doubt that almost broke my spirit, but what I gained was an invaluable lesson—time is precious.”

Take a picture, take a chance
Chase a dream, chase a girl
Say a prayer, take a trip
Don’t hold your breath, hold your kids
Before they’re too big

For those who may need the reminder, Allen offers this final piece of advice: “If I could go back, I would answer every phone call, say ‘I love you’ every day, take a lot more pictures and just spend time with her.” Pausing, he adds, “I know my mother wouldn’t want me to live with regrets, so instead I believe she gave me this song to remind me how to live.”

“We are thrilled to have a talent like Jay Allen on our roster,” says ONErpm Nashville office Managing Director Tim Wipperman. “This is such a personal song to Jay, but one we feel will resonate with his fans and an even wider, untapped audience.”

Allen had been scheduled to marry fiancée and fellow country artist Kylie Morgan on Oct. 11, but Hurricane Ian had other plans. The couple, along with some of their musician friends, performed a benefit concert in Ft. Myers to help their wedding venue and others in the area rebuild. The two were finally married on Oct. 1.

Allen also recently performed on actress (and wife of country musician Brad Paisley) Kimberly Williams-Paisley’s fifth annual ALZ Dance Party benefit, which raised more than half a million dollars for the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.

About Jay Allen
Singer-songwriter Jay Allen combines the grittiness of rock ’n’ roll with the tenderness of country ballads. Growing up near Cedar Falls, Iowa, Allen recalls going to rock concerts with his dad and singing country at the top of his lungs in the car with his mother. As Allen says, “Mom is the reason I believe country music chose me and ultimately why I ended up in Nashville.” Allen moved to Nashville in 2013, and by 2014 he had signed a publishing deal; in 2016 he signed an artist deal with SONY/ATV and released “Sounds Good to Me” in 2017, which Sirius XM selected as “The Highway Find.” In 2018, after seeing his mother suffer from early-onset Alzheimer’s, Allen wrote “Blank Stares”—about the terrible ravages of the disease (and ultimately his own personal loss as his mom died in 2019)—which has now reached over 500 million views on Facebook. As a result of the song, Allen has been involved with several international events, including the Rita Hayworth Gala, which have raised over $100 million for the Alzheimer’s Association. In October 2021, Allen released his debut EP Bulletproof, which included his hot single “Mustang on Mud Tires,” featuring UMG country artist, co-writer (along with Nate Kenyon and Blake Bollinger) and fiancée Kylie Morgan, whom Allen married in late November 2022.

Verge Recording Artist Jay Allen Releases New Song "Whiskey Prayer"

Jay Allen knows what it’s like to lose your mama. His latest single, “Whiskey Prayer,” along with an accompanying music video directed by Rand Smith and Jasper Fuentes and produced by Diana Garcia, is available everywhere now. Listen to “Whiskey Prayer” HERE and watch the video HERE.

Today’s release is a follow-up to “Blank Stares” and continues the story of how Allen lost his mother to early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2019—and nearly lost himself in the process.

“I wrote ‘Blank Stares’ out of heartache while mama was still alive, but ‘Whiskey Prayer’ is the one I wrote after she passed away, when I was in the most vulnerable place of my life, mourning her loss, grieving her,” Allen muses. “All I could do was write songs to cope.”

Dear God, I’ve reached the bottom
Of my faith and this bottle
I’ve been trying to leave you out of this, I swear
But if this barstool confession
Can find its way to heaven
Just let me know you’re listening up there
Would you answer this whiskey prayer?

“I was on the road a lot,” Allen continues, “in bars every night, drinking way too much, reaching out for Him with a glass in my hand. I believe God listens closely to the broken-hearted, and when I needed Him the most He was there, and that was the silver lining,” he explains. “God met me where I was, brought me out of that time and has brought so much good since then. So I took that pain and sadness and tried to turn it in to something beautiful in hopes it will help others heal from it as well.”

Fans can expect acoustic versions of the song soon. Jay Allen’s next live show is Thursday, Dec. 30 in Omaha, Neb., and features his fiancé, UMG country artist Kylie Morgan. For more information on Allen, follow him on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok @JayAllenMusic and Facebook.com/JayAllenMusic.
