Co-written by Eagleson, Matt Roy, Casey Brown and Travis Wood, the rowdy heartbreak anthem sends a newly single cowboy on an all-night barroom tour rather than home to nurse a broken heart. Produced by Todd Clark and Wood, the track was deliberately built to feel at home in the kind of honky tonks that first shaped Eagleson’s musical instincts, bringing fiddle and pedal steel to the forefront. Midland’s unmistakable harmonies meet Eagleson’s twang, pairing two acts united by a shared reverence for classic country.
“We really wanted this song to feel like you’re right inside some honky tonk in the middle of nowhere,” shares Eagleson. “From the writing to the musicians we brought in and the way we produced it, every choice was made with that in mind. It was important to me that it sound like the country music I grew up playing and still love today.”
For Eagleson, that commitment to country tradition predates the accolades that have followed. Raised on a family farm, he stepped away from some of his duties there in 2017 to pursue music full time, carrying with him a sound rooted in the country music he had long loved and played. When he began making trips to Nashville nearly a decade ago, Eagleson recalled being politely turned away by some in the music industry because what he was doing was considered “too country.” Rather than change his sound, he made it his calling card.
