InTheosis (Feat. Members of Extol) Share "ICONOCLAST" Lyric Video — WATCH + LISTEN // Band Shares New Album Hints

InTheosis is the brainchild of Norwegian Grammy-nominated Extol vocalist, Peter Espevoll, and Australian Gold producer Jon Reichardt. On paper it would seem like an unlikely fit, as the two have found success in very different musical genres, but in reality the collaboration makes perfect sense.

Today, they have shared their third single thus far in the form of "ICONOCLAST."

It boasts quite the chunky groove and features vocal contributions from hip-hop artist DAMIEN

Watch the lyric video and listen below.

"Our third single, 'Iconoclast,' features vocals from the talented wordsmith himself, Damien," the band states. "While the word 'iconoclast' may conjure up images of literal shattered idols, we wanted to explore how this concept works with long-held paradigms and beliefs that poison your mind. We all have them; sub-conscious or conscious. Patterns of thought that steal our joy, that haunt us during those sleepless nights, that keep us bound from offering our full selves to the gift of life. They are the 'corrupt trees that produce evil fruit.' Fusing dystopian synths with 8-string guitars, aggressive raps, a melodic chorus, all over pummeling drums, this song is an ode to destroying negative thought patterns and beliefs that infect our lives."

InTheosis are also thrilled to share that they are working towards releasing their debut album late 2025.

Yet to be named, the body of work is looking to be a varied smorgasbord of modern metal with strong influences from prog, cyberpunk, hip-hop, and orchestral elements. The duo will continue exploring their core themes of spirituality and mental health. However, they will also be delving into topics such as parenthood, politics, and betrayal.

InTheosis have previously shared the debut single "MYSTERIA" over at New Noise. Listen here. They followed by premiered the second single "Purge(d)" at Outburn. Watch + listen here and here.

Despite living on opposite sides of the globe, the two have more in common than most.  Both are third culture kids having faced years of complex trauma respectively. Both experienced music as tormenter and healer. Both are learning how to live with the scars of the past, hoping to create meaning and solidarity from suffering.  InTheosis is the musical representation of this journey as the two find solace in the ancient and sacred, but also the dissonant and jaded. Everything will be made beautiful in its time.

DECAPITATED - Cancer Culture Out Now!

Today, the band is proud to release their 8th studio album, Cancer Culture.

It's the most versatile album the band has released so far, surprising fans with elements they have never used before, such as guest appearances on vocals.

Again, Jarek Szubrycht (Carnival is Forever) has written amazing lyrics about the disproportion between the dreams, ambitions, and aspirations of humanity.  The leading engineer of the album was Tomasz Zed Zalewski (Anticult), David Castillo was responsible for mixing the album, and Ted Jensen for the final touch for mastering. The amazing cover artwork comes from Fabio Timpanaro, an Italian artist whose art perfectly describes what the band wanted to tell through visual art.

Vogg states the following: "Cancer Culture is out today!!! We've been waiting for this special moment for a very long time.
It seems like ages, five years since our latest release Anticult, sixteen months of working on the Cancer Culture album, and waiting almost a year to be able to share it with you finally.
You can expect to hear various tracks, outstanding production, fantastic artwork, and of course, as always, something you have not likely to hear on the DECAPITATED album before.
To celebrate this day, we decided to release a video for 'Iconoclast'. For this occasion, we returned to the studio where all had started, where we recorded drums for the album, to feel an incredible energy and cool vibes again while making the video.
As you probably know, we have an exceptional guest, the metal legend and friend of ours, one and only
Robb Flynn. His part of the track became one of my favorite parts of this album.
It's a huge honor to have Robb in this project, and I hope you will dig a song. It's a different song, not blasting madness as most of the songs on this record but still powerful, fast, and crushing.
We are giving you today the
Cancer Culture. DECAPITATED is back, strong and alive! From pain to strength!
Enjoy!~ Vogg"

And to celebrate the release, they have yet another surprise in store for their fans. Robb Flynn from mighty MACHINE HEAD contributes a hauntingly beautiful vocal to the track“Iconoclast”

Flynn
comments on the collaboration: "When Vogg asked me to sing on this DECAPITATED track, I was honored to jam with pioneers and insane musicians. I was blown away by this incredible melodic section in the middle when he sent the track. When he told me the song was called 'Iconoclast', I knew exactly what needed to be said.  An Iconoclast is 'a destroyer of images used in religious worship'.  This song had to address the hateful, growing fascist Evangelical movement growing around the world. The cruel men who wish to hide their cruelty under a cloak of faith and zealotry."
