DEATHWHITE Streams New Album 'Grey Everlasting' Ahead of Release

Enigmatic dark metal outfit DEATHWHITE ia now streaming their brand new full-length, 'Grey Everlasting,' in its entirety ahead of Friday's release! The album can be heard below.

DEATHWHITE comments: "It is with great pride to share the full stream of 'Grey Everlasting.' We have done our share of reflecting now that the album's release is just days away. The most rewarding aspect of being in Deathwhite is writing and recording music, then sharing it. The creation of 'Grey Everlasting' was an intense but fruitful process. Its formal release this Friday is what we worked so hard to achieve. That said, we remain indebted to those who have supported us since our 2012 inception and sincerely hope the album is of enjoyment."

'Grey Everlasting' will follow up 2020's critically-acclaimed 'Grave Image,' which was named one of the best metal albums of 2020 by Bravewords, Heavy New York, Dead Rhetoric, A&P Reacts, Teeth of the Divine, and Pandemonium TV.

'Grey Everlasting' is available to pre-order HERE and can be pre-saved to your streaming library HERE.

Anno 2022 marks the tenth year of Deathwhite. The ensuing years have borne witness to the continued, if not expedited unraveling of humankind and the world in which it so harshly occupies. The 2020 global pandemic — an event of unimaginable magnitude — has amplified the worst in us. Cruelty, dishonesty, greed, obfuscation and selfishness are celebrated, worn as a badge of pride as the world burns figuratively and literally. Such was the environment of discontent and isolation that enigmatic dark metal quartet Deathwhite concocted its third full-length studio offering, Grey Everlasting. Utilizing the same team as 2020’s Grave Image, Grey Everlasting was recorded during May and June 2021 at Cerebral Audio Productions with producer/engineer Shane Mayer. Vocals were again tracked at Erik Rutan’s (Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal) Mana Recording under the guidance of engineer Art Paiz. Legendary Swedish producer and engineer Dan Swanö (Bloodbath, Edge of Sanity, Nightingale) is responsible for the mastering, while French visual artist Jérôme Comentale reprised his role for the fourth consecutive Deathwhite release.

Written just as the global lockdown began in March 2020, Grey Everlasting is an album of diversity and depth. While the band’s clean vocal delivery set to the backdrop of unyielding dark metal remains ever-present, some new wrinkles are added to Deathwhite’s sound. Extreme metal elements — a reference to the band’s musical background — as well as heavy keyboard orchestration have been brought to the fore. The album also treads more atmospheric paths while staying true to Deathwhite’s melodic underpinnings. “We have grown accustomed to putting our songs under a microscope, but this album demanded an even deeper examination of where we wanted to go,” said the band collectively. “There was little interest in re-writing Grave Image; instead, we had to carve new paths and challenge ourselves musically. We were unafraid to try new things, so, accordingly, the creation process was occasionally arduous. However, it made the result something we are incredibly proud of.”

Lyrically, Grey Everlasting balances Deathwhite’s harsh view of the world with themes of self-preservation. It is a rare glimmer of light from a band that has regularly addressed the ills of humankind on previous albums. However, the onset of the global pandemic made Grey Everlasting an appropriate title. “The album’s lyrics were assembled throughout the pandemic, events that also included strife on the political and human rights front,” said the band. “As disheartening as these events were, they were hardly a surprise. The human race has had more than enough time to figure out how to coexist properly, but still cannot get it right…and it never will.”

DEATHWHITE Shares Devastating New Song "No Thought or Memory"

Enigmatic dark metal outfit DEATHWHITE will be releasing their third full-length, 'Grey Everlasting,' on June 10 via Season of Mist! The band has partnered with The Obelisk for the release of their devastating new single, "No Thought or Memory," which can be heard below.

DEATHWHITE comments:

“‘No Thought or Memory’ details the opioid epidemic ravaging the United States and the perils of addiction. It is well documented how pharmaceutical companies have made billions by getting people hooked on their substances. The fact that they have gotten away with it for so long is reprehensible, but how quickly prescription drug abuse can destroy lives and families is even worse. The amount of lives affected is untold and there is no end in sight.”

DEATHWHITE Reveals New Album, Shares Music Video for New Single

Enigmatic dark metal outfit DEATHWHITE will be releasing their third full-length, 'Grey Everlasting,' on June 10 via Season of Mist! The band is now sharing the devastating first single, "Earthtomb," along with a music video! The heart-wrenching video, which was created by Guilherme Henriques, can be found below.

DEATHWHITE comments:

“It is our abundant pleasure to share the video for ‘Earthtomb,’ the first single from 'Grey Everlasting.' The immaculate Guilherme Henriques shot the clip in Aceredo, Spain and Porto, Portugal. Unfortunately, the song and video are a rather timely and direct reflection of the times we live when unchecked power, deception, gas-lighting and flat-out lies are used as tools to wreak havoc upon humanity and sow discord.

"‘Earthtomb’ was written as our observation — and inherent wish — that these individuals succumb to their misdeeds. What is happening in Ukraine at the moment has, for the members of Deathwhite, made this song more prescient than ever. Our hearts go out to those impacted by this utter tragedy.”

FRIENDS OF HELL RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR "SHADOW OF THE IMPALER"

In these bleak days, we think you might agree, it’s about time we had some dark news that was actually good? Well, Rise Above Records is certainly chuffed to announce the signing of this exciting new DOOM METAL MACHINE known as Friends of Hell. Brainchild of former Electric Wizard bassist, Tas Danazoglou, Friends of Hell also feature the enigmatic talents of former Reverend Bizarre vocalist Albert Witchfinder.

The band has released a video for the track "Shadow of the Impaler." Watch it below.

Their fantastic self-titled album will be released worldwide via Rise Above Records on March 18th 2022.

MISANTHUR Premieres New Song, "On The Heights of Despair"

Polish black metal band MISANTHUR will be releasing their debut record 'Ephemeris' on October 15, via Season of Mist Underground Activists! The band is now premiering the second single from the record, "On the Heights of Despair." Listen below.

MISANTHUR comments: The second single 'On the Heights of Despair' was inspired by the book with the same title, written by one of the most prominent philosophers of nihilism - Emil Cioran. The dark, heavy and eerie atmosphere is intertwined with the soothing yet cruel cathartic moment. The song expresses the loathing of the passing time but also shows the dimmed fire of hope in one's mundane existence, which is perfectly connected with the full concept of the upcoming debut album, 'Ephemeris.'"

Pre-sales are live in the Season of Mist shop HERE.

The two prophets collected under the banner of MISANTHUR herald the fall and spiritual putridity of humanity by creating art resonating fully with pain, anxiety and degradation. Founded in Częstochowa, Poland in one night in 2015 by Hellscythe and Draugr, MISANTHUR begun to take form.

Inspired by metal and non-metal genres, MISANTHUR merge trance percussion, earthbreaking bass, crushing guitars and hellish vocals with (post)apocalyptic ambient landscapes and noise to create its own oeuvre and paint the stories and scenery of mundane spiritual wasteland.

The band’s debut record ‘Ephemeris’ was written with the aim of capturing the concept of personal degradation, one’s own journey into the deepest corners of consciousness, one’s own weaknesses, fears, and monsters hidden in ego and identity, in the context of the fragility and evanescence nature of human life.

The only constant thing is change. The only sure thing is entropy.

The four piece from Poland is working on new music for 2022

Napalm Records is proud to announce the signing of Psychedelic Stoner and Doom Metal outfit TORTUGA from Poland! TORTUGA are currently working on new music, set for release via Napalm Records in 2022.

TORTUGA about signing to Napalm Records:

“We weren’t very respectful towards the Lovecraftian Deities on our second LP, so they punished mankind with a pandemic and made it impossible for us to tour with our album. Gladly, they are merciful, and they gave us a second chance in the form of a pretty awesome collaboration with Napalm Records. We are already working on our third album and rest assured that this time we won't mock any deities. We learned our lesson.”

Texas Melodic Death-Doom Unit HINAYANA to Release Death Of The Cosmic EP

Pre-order the "Death of the Cosmic" EP here: https://smarturl.it/DeathOfTheCosmic-NPR out August 28th Austin, Texas-based melodic death-doom metal unit HINAY...

Featuring Late TENGGER CAVALRY Frontman Nature Ganganbaigal

Death Of The Cosmic EP out August 28, 2020 via Napalm Records Pre-Order HERE

Austin, Texas-based melodic death-doom metal unit HINAYANA have been turning heads in the metal scene since their formation in 2014, starting out as a one-man band spearheaded by frontman Casey Hurd. Now, after releasing their crushing 2018 full-length Order Divineand subsequently securing the attention of Napalm Records, HINAYANA are poised to release their next musical offering – the crushing Death Of The Cosmic EP – set for release on August 28, 2020.

Today, HINAYANA are introducing their new and improved sound to the world via the charging, melancholy crusher “Cold Conception”, featuring trailblazing late Tengger Cavalry frontman and multi-instrumentalist Nature Ganganbaigal on Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle). These expansive contributions melded with earth-shattering vocals, unrelenting mix-paced drums and searing guitar leads make “Cold Conception” and its grim, expansive official music video a must-listen/see.

Vocalist/guitarist Casey Hurd states about the track:

“While writing “Cold Conception”, I wanted to create something more energetic than the other tracks on the EP while keeping the mid-paced, brooding/rhythmic sound that I enjoy writing the most. The song is about the aimless, cold, modern world man has created and somehow wandered into at the same time, and the accelerating journey to reach a point of no return where many civilizations have collapsed in the past. I’m honored to have been able to work with Nature Ganganbaigal of Tengger Cavalry on this track before he passed away, he was excited and enthusiastic about the project. The track features his horsehead fiddle playing, creating some of the most sorrowful and bittersweet moments the band has ever produced on this track alone, so much so that we all got goosebumps listening to his parts in the studio during the mixing process.”

Pre-Order Death Of The Cosmic EP HERE

Otherworldly and haunting while maintaining a crushing, colossal heaviness and peppered with undeniable groove, the Death Of The Cosmic EP emphasizes improved production and keen songwriting. Primarily self-produced by the band with mixing/drum recording from Kevin Butler and mastering by Swallow The Sun’s Juho Raiha, fans will also notice the new EP’s heightened concept in comparison to the band’s previous releases.

Opening title track “Death Of The Cosmic” sets off with optimistic ambience, quickly blasting into an ethereal universe of blazing leads and acoustic soundscapes capped by vocalist Casey Hurd’s deep, menacing growls. “Cold Conception” rushes in with melancholic energy before transforming into a dark, galloping anthem accented by the Morin Khuur stylings of late Tengger Cavalry mastermind Nature Ganganbaigal and a melting solo from Erik Shtaygrud. Mystic instrumental interlude “Yet Here I Wait Forever” showcases the dynamic, softer side of HINAYANA before picking back up with the stunning down-tempo gripper “In Sacred Delusion”, featuring a guest appearance from Toni Toivonen (Hanging Garden). Death Of The Cosmic closes with the sorrowful 5-minute epilogue "Pitch Black Noise" – not only proving HINAYANA's identifiable auditory trademark of melding tranquility and thunderous intensity, but also underlining the existential depth of their lyrical approach.

Casey Hurd adds about the EP:

Death Of The Cosmic is based on the severed connection between ourselves and the cosmic, spiritual force in the universe and the loss of hope for the cold, modern world man has created in nature’s place. Sonically, we wanted to make something that was beautiful but crushing at the same time, demonstrated in the title track of this EP, which in concept might be viewed as a microcosm of the whole EP itself. Something we tried to do was stray away from some of the more cliché elements of melodic death metal and instead focus on what is the very root/core of HINAYANA and what gives the band its own sound.”

HINAYANA is:

Casey Hurd - Guitar/Vocals

Daniel Vieira - Drums

Erik Shtaygrud - Guitar

Michael Anstice - Keyboard

Matt Bius - Bass
