With such influences as Bulldoze and Neglect, it's no surprise the quintet's songwriting style is as brutal as it is. - No Echo

Showing off this band's ability to channel brash, heavy, '80s/'90s-style hardcore and make it feel fresh. - BrooklynVegan

A rough, raw, and urban salvo of pain that will hunt you down in the middle of the night and slice off one
of your ears as a trophy.

Today, Chicago's beloved hardcore up-and-comers, KHARMA, shared the newest single “Guilty By Association” from their forthcoming EP Most Dangerous Game via a premiere with No Echo. The track comes out swinging with one of the band’s catchiest intros to date before devolving into crushing chaos with a subsequent breakdown hook that will be sure to be a pit opener at the first opportunity. Featuring Davey Chaos (MH Chaos) on the vocal guest spot, “Guilty By Association” is further proof that the band’s label debut is shaping up to be one of hardcore’s most vital and anticipated releases of the fall. Due out November 20th through Flatspot Records, Most Dangerous Game is available to pre-order here. Stream “Guilty By Association” on Bandcamp or Spotify now.

Formed in 2015 in Chicago, KHARMA deals in gritty, metallic hardcore with walls of sound to pummel the listener into submission. Directly influenced by their city, from the forebears of their scene to the daily circumstances that inform their lyrics and unrelenting aggression, the quintet calls to mind the blunt brutality of acts like Neglect, Billy Club Sandwich, Bulldoze, and Arkangel. While hardcore has always been a genre of the people, KHARMA truly embodies that sentiment through tales of life on the streets and the reality of surviving in the middle of America. The band gave their first glimpse into this world on 2016’s self-released EP, Survival, followed up by 2018’s Moment of Violence EP, during which time the band has shared the stage with the likes of Madball, Knocked Loose, Mindforce, Adrenaline, and Life of Agony.

In the Fall of 2020, KHARMA returns with their most mature and downright hostile release to date - Most Dangerous Game, due out on Flatspot Records. Throughout the 5 tracks, KHARMA flexes their shattering sonic assault on topics such as classism, police brutality, and racism, systems of oppression the band has been challenging since their inception. Inspired by Richard Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game”, the band applies the analogy to varying degrees within the dismal stories told on their label debut. The mix of KHARMA’s pulverizing riffs with harsh, spiteful vocals amounts to a concoction of mosh-ready and genuine anthems for the dark modern age. Recorded and mixed with Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) at Bricktop Recordings in Chicago, the no-frills and fervid performances on Most Dangerous Game proves why KHARMA has become an up and coming favorite to watch on hardcore bills throughout the country and solidifies their further rise in Chicago’s heavy music scene.

DEBUT ALBUM YOUR RECEDING WARMTH
OUT NOV 13th VIA UNBEATEN RECORDS

Today, the Connecticut metal group, Boundaries, shared their latest single “I’d Rather Not Say” and the accompanying music video via a premiere with Knotfest. Taken from their debut album, Your Receding Warmth, due out November 13th via Unbeaten Records, the track features some of the most ferocious and jaw-dropping moments on the record. The band builds colossal guitar riffs on top of one another throughout the three-minute run time, complete with explosive drumming and one of Matt McDougal’s most frenzied and aggressive vocal performances yet. Lyrically, the song confronts the fear that love can only be felt once and life is spent chasing the feeling after experiencing it wholly for the first time. Following the widely praised singles “Carve” and “Behind The Bend”, this latest drop marks the final teaser ahead of their highly anticipated album release. Recorded with producer Randy Leboeuf at Graphic Nature Audio, Your Receding Warmth is available to pre-order here ahead of the release next month.

More about Boundaries:
Boundaries have been turning heads since their 2015 formation in central Connecticut. Anchored by a terrifying live set and EPs that have reached the status of ‘underground classic’, the quintet has bubbled just below the surface for the past three years as they laid waste with their concoction of searing riffs, crushing breakdowns, and intimate lyrics delivered with vessel-bursting rage.

While on the rise, Boundaries has toured relentlessly, sharing stages with the likes of The Acacia Strain, Currents, Knocked Loose, and Spite, and truly established their identity with the release of their 2019 EP My Body In Bloom through Unbeaten Records. The tightly knit crew - Matthew McDougal (singer) Zadak Brooks (bass) Cory Emond (guitar) Junior Scarpa (guitar) Tim “cheese” Sullivan (drums) - pull influences from the bands who first inspired their love of heavy music such as Slipknot, Linkin Park, Static X. While those seminal groups might not be heard in the band’s output, the sonic weight of their latest effort is a fitting tribute to these early influences on the band.

This fall, Boundaries will again partner with Unbeaten Records on their debut full-length, Your Receding Warmth. The record finds the band taking more chances than ever while building upon their inherent ferocity, stories of bleak existence, and the knack for keeping an audience on their toes that has drawn so many people to the band.
