Miranda Lambert Drops Surprise iTunes-Exclusive 'Crisco' Bonus Track: "Seven Year Ache" Feat. Parker McCollum

With her new album Crisco earning acclaim from fans and critics alike following its Oct. 2 release via MCA, Miranda Lambert continues the celebration with a surprise for fans via today’s iTunes exclusive release of “Seven Year Ache” featuring Parker McCollum. The previously unreleased take on Rosanne Cash’s 1981 chart topper is available exclusively when fans download Crisco on iTunes, now through 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 8. Access “Seven Year Ache” HERE and Crisco HERE.

The collaboration marks another musical connection between the two Texas natives and friends, who previously joined forces on Lambert’s Postcards From Texas cut “Santa Fe” and have shared the stage on multiple occasions, including spearheading last year’s “Band Together Texas” benefit concert which raised over $8.5 million for flood relief efforts in their home state.

“I love making music with Parker because he’s the real deal,” notes Lambert. “He’s such a natural artist and has that thing you can’t teach. He is authentically himself and you can feel that in his music.”

“Miranda has always been a big inspiration to me as an artist from Texas,” adds McCollum. “Not only is she one of the most incredible songwriters we’ve got but is also hands-down one of my favorite Country voices ever. I'm honored any time I get the chance to work with and learn from her.”

The surprise release comes as Crisco continues to receive widespread critical acclaim for Lambert’s adventurous new musical direction. NPR praises the evolution of the woman who “managed to become a superstar without shedding her riveting idiosyncrasies,” with Rolling Stone declaring that she “has taken what was already one of country music’s most celebrated careers into powerhouse, multi-hyphenate mode.” Slate proclaims her “the reigning queen of contemporary country for going on two decades,” noting that her songs “are always forthright, original, and self-possessed” as demonstrated on the new project celebrated by USA Today as a “disco-diamond world, drenched in country music and smooth-as-butter grooves.”

Lambert also continues the Crisco celebration tomorrow, Oct. 6, with a sold-out album release show at Billy Bob’s Texas, before joining Anthony Mason for a sit-down conversation on this Friday’s edition of “CBS Mornings.”
