Michael Ray Captures Relationship Nostalgia with "We Should Get A Drink Sometime"

As current single “Spirits and Demons” with Meghan Patrick climbs the charts at country radio, multi-Platinum hitmaker Michael Ray surprises fans just in time for the holidays with “We Should Get A Drink Sometime,” capturing that urge to reminisce with an old friend or flame that so often consumes us this time of year. Pre-save the song, which will arrive tomorrow, December 8, HERE.

“I typically end up cutting more songs than I need when I’m in the studio, and sadly that means there are a few that never get to see the light of day,” shares Ray. “But this song has always been special to me, and it felt like the right time to put it out there. This one is for those of you traveling home for the holidays and reconnecting with those people in your life that you’ve lost touch with, whether you reach out or run into someone you didn’t expect to see.”

Written by Thomas Rhett, Rhett Akins, Mike Busbee and Josh Kerr, “We Should Get A Drink Sometime” is a hard-hitting ballad. No stranger to showcasing vulnerability through his delivery, Ray’s voice shines brightly against sole piano accompaniment.

Following the premiere of the official music video for “Spirits and Demons” with CMT and Paramount’s Time Square billboard, Ray joins CMT Hot 20 for their Video of the Year episode, filmed on a U.S. Marine base in Okinawa, Japan. The episode premieres this Saturday, December 9 at 8am CT.

“Coming from a family full of first responders, veterans and service members, it meant so much to me to be able to connect with those men and women, especially at this time of year,” shares Ray. “I’m so glad I got the opportunity to say thank you in person and hopefully bring along a little holiday cheer.”

Looking ahead to 2024, the Florida native is back in the studio with CMA Album of the Year producer Michael Knox to expand on his latest project Dive Bars & Broken Hearts.
