The Adam Ezra Group brings a taste of Beantown to the Big Apple.

June 6th, 2025. City Winery NYC-

It’s a significant moment when a band confidently tells a New York audience that they hail from Boston, and remarkably, the audience responds with a thunderous ovation. Oh, it truly did happen—I was there to witness it firsthand. It became abundantly clear why the songs crafted by the band, along with Adam’s masterful storytelling, resonate so deeply, creating a genuine connection with their audience that feels both honest and vibrant. Their songs are not only catchy but also rich in meaning, especially when Adam shares some poignant insights into the inspirations behind his writing. Take, for example, the heartfelt track “Pocket Full of Sea Shells,” which reflects the touching idea of picking up tokens along the road for his daughter. Then there’s his latest song “Mama Luna,” a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Harry Belafonte that would undoubtedly make any Belafonte fan immensely proud. The audience joyfully sang along to every note, and things reached a peak when the band ventured into the middle of the crowd to perform a few a cappella songs. The singing and laughter erupted into a deafening celebration, particularly during the upbeat anthem “Positive, I’m Positive.” Beyond their relentless touring schedule, the band also dedicates time and energy to their non-profit organization, Rally Sound, which does admirable work supporting homeless veterans. Whether performing on stage, live streaming, at a cruise event, or in diverse travel destinations, The Adam Ezra Group is a musical experience you should seek out repeatedly, as they never fail to impress.

Adam Ezra takes great pleasure in personally selecting his opening acts, so when he introduced Clover (Clover Stieve), we all knew we were in for a captivating set filled with rich storytelling through song. As her melodies played, Clover’s recounting of how each song came to be further enhanced the connection between the band and the audience, creating a beautifully shared experience. Her songs serve as a true testament to the journey of figuring things out by oneself while remaining authentic. Even with profoundly soulful meanings woven into her music, she doesn’t shy away from infusing her sense of humor, especially in her delightful track titled “I Cried at Costco.” Her debut album, Atlas, released this past May, is certainly worth a listen for anyone looking for fresh and meaningful music.

Close Enemies heat up the night at City Winery, NYC

It says a great deal about a band’s ambition and confidence when they embark on a tour without previously releasing any new music, and that is precisely what the band Close Enemies is doing. On one of the most frigid nights that New York City has experienced in quite some time, this talented ensemble, featuring Tom Hamilton on bass, Peter Stroud on guitar, Tony Brock on drums, Trace Foster on guitar, and Chasen Hampton providing powerful vocals, truly delighted the attentive crowd with their captivating classic rock style. The setlist featured an impressive array of songs including "Rain," "Sounds Like a Train," and "Dry Rocket," but it was the encore that brought the most excitement, especially for the fans clad in Aerosmith t-shirts. They were thrilled to hear two of Tom’s most iconic tracks: "Sick as a Dog" and "Sweet Emotion." The evening was packed with not only great music but also lighthearted banter, especially when Peter jokingly asked Trace if it might have been wiser to start the tour in sunny Florida rather than braving the cold up north. Peter concluded by expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the audience for taking the chance to come out and enjoy performances of songs that many were unfamiliar with. In the end, that leap of faith was undoubtedly worth it. With only a handful of January shows left on their schedule, do not hesitate to Take the Chance and experience the dynamic performance of Close Enemies live.
