Through his collaboration with Hans Zimmer for the Oscar-winning soundtrack to the remake of the classic film 'Dune', desert fever has broken out again in Klaus Schulze. "I needed more of that 'Spice,'" Schulze recounts. "From there I felt completely unleashed and just played and played… at the end of that second private ‘Dune‘ journey I realized: ‘Deus Arrakis‘ became another salute to Frank Herbert and to that great gift of life in general.“ Since his beginnings in bands like 'Tangerine Dream' and 'Ash Ra Tempel' or in his over 50 solo albums from 'Irrlicht' to Mirage', 'X' and 'Dune' to 'Farscape', 'Kontinuum', 'Silhouettes' and now 'Deus Arrakis', in his productions under the pseudonym 'Richard Wahnfried' or the numerous film scores and collaborations with artists like Arthur Brown, Michael Shrieve, Rainer Bloss, Lisa Gerrard or most recently Hans Zimmer: Klaus Schulze has always remained true to his unmistakable way of creating music and yet always remained open to the new, the innovative, the experimental.

STONE BROKEN Release Video for New Single "The Devil You Know"

New Album 'Revelation' Set For Release on April 22

"This is the sound of one of the UK's brighter prospects looking to the wider world and dreaming big"Classic Rock

Stone Broken have released the video for their brand new single "The Devil You Know". Watch it below.

For studio album three, Revelation, Stone Broken decided it was time to turn up the volume — to build on past glories with the intention of making everything bigger, bolder, and generally the best version of Stone Broken there has been.

Enter new track "The Devil You Know" — a joyous earworm you'll be sure to have on repeat.

'Revelation' is due for release on April 22, 2022 via Spinefarm. As young performers with broad musical taste, the Midlands four-piece (together since 2013) have long held the desire to add other elements to their music, to give a more contemporary, commercial sheen to hard rock traditions, but it's only now, with Revelation, that they've been able to bring these instincts fully into play.

Working closely with producer and former SikTh guitarist Dan Weller, whose CV includes the likes of Enter Shikari and Dream State, the band was determined to raise the bar right across the board, from pre-production through to final mix, with anything even vaguely hinting of cliché immediately cast aside.

Album pre-orders are live here. Special bundle options are available, including t-shirts, CDs, red cassettes, and limited vinyl variants. All vinyl and CD formats come with exclusive bonus material.

Meanwhile, Stone Broken’s UK headline tour will take place later this month, running through to May 2022.

The ‘Revelation Tour’ sees Stone Broken take another big step up, playing larger venues nationwide, including performances at the 1,500 capacity Electric Ballroom, London and Institute, Birmingham.

STONE BROKEN ARE (L – R):

Chris Davis — Lead Guitar

Rich Moss — Frontman + Guitar

Robyn Haycock — Drums + Vocals

Kieron Conroy —Bass

STRÖM Signs to Black Lodge Records - Release Video for New Single "Tiden Sjunger"

Black Lodge Records proudly presents their latest high voltage signing, STRÖM! Releasing the Swedish rockers debut single and music video today, with the self-titled debut album scheduled for release on September 23, 2022.

About STRÖM

If you know your rock’n’roll encyclopedia well enough you can easily map out from where this band cherry-picked their influences – such as for example The Darkness, Airbourne, AC/DC, Bon Jovi, or the way that Kiss sounded in the mid-to-late 80’s. And then we still haven’t mentioned any of the fellow Swedish compatriots (such as Hardcore Superstar, Pugh Rogefeldt, Magnus Uggla, Noice), neither have we referenced any Danish counterparts (D-A-D, Pretty Maids), or Norwegian for that matter (Turbonegro et al).

Here’s the catch though: Instead of sounding like any of all those acts in particular, STRÖM kind of sounds like all at the same time. All mixed into one giant concoction of honest, accurate, straight-forward, no-bullcrap, balls-to-the-wall, good-timin’ rock’n’roll.

Zdravko Zizmond (vocals), Calle Sjöquist (guitars), Johan Siljedahl (guitars), Joel Carnstam (bass) and Tomas Salonen (drums) have been playing together under the STRÖM banner for less than three years, but the debut album they’re putting out is a work of excellence.

When encountering a rock’n’roll band like the 5-headed powerhouse of STRÖM, you will never be able to escape the feeling that there’s a “before” and an “after”. That’s how it works – once your ears are exposed to something that you have never heard, but at the same time so damn good, you simply start asking yourself: “How the hell is it possible that no one has done this before?”

The first single, "Tiden Sjunger", is an instant rock 'n' roll banger with a music video filmed under cold sub-zero conditions in Vederslöv, Småland (Sweden) by Damón Zurawski who's previously worked with Stefan Sundström, Backyard Babies, Tribulation, Watain, Anna Järvinen, The Heard and Burnt Out Punks.

STRÖM's self-titled debut album is set for release on September 23, 2022.

TEMPLE OF VOID ANNOUNCE RELAPSE DEBUT "SUMMONING THE SLAYER" - OUT JUNE 3

"Temple of Void are knocking at the door of death greatness." - Decibel Magazine

Cave dwellers TEMPLE OF VOID finally return from the inky abyss on their highly anticipated new album, Summoning the Slayer, out June 3 on Relapse Records.

Watch the “Deathtouch” music video, directed by The C.O.I.N., below.

Summoning The Slayer is out June 3 on LP/CD/CS/Digital. Physical pre-order via Relapse.com are available HERE. Digital Downloads/Streaming HERE.

The critically acclaimed, Michigan-based quintet—featuring Alex Awn (guitars), Don Durr (guitars), Mike Erdody (vocals), Jason Pearce (drums), and Brent Satterly (bass)—hunkered down during the last two years, expanding upon their brand of fusty, artfully brutish death-doom with equal parts process and imagination. The outcome is an album that feels massive yet sepulchral, exploratory yet distinguishable—as if crafted deep below and inspired by all the things (mentally and physically) that come with their subterranean endeavor. Summoning the Slayer creepily evolves TEMPLE OF VOID.

Produced, mixed, and mastered by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Sumerlands, Candy, and more,) Summoning the Slayer pairs long-time influences and a bevy of non-metal vectors into hulking columns of heavy and desolation. Focus tracks “Deathtouch,” “Hex, Curse, & Conjuration” and “The Transcending Horror” showcases TEMPLE OF VOID’s death-doom at its heights and their massive, crushing lows. But the group’s fourth album is more than that. The album’s capper, “Dissolution,” is one example of the Detroiters stretching out, the song’s ‘70s rock/singer-songwriter motifs hitting The Moody Blues and Nick Drake hard. Lyrically, Summoning the Slayer eschews commonplace horror tropes with a deeper, broader psychological discussion of the self. TEMPLE OF VOID’s ultimate death-doom metal journey is now complete.

TEMPLE OF VOID Is:

Michael Erdody – Vocals

Don Durr – Guitar

Jason Pearce – Drums

Alex Awn – Guitar

Brent Satterly –Bass

Wade Bowen & Friends Raise $500K+ for Waco Nonprofits with Bowen Musicfest 2022

As his six-song EP Where Phones Don’t Work continues to impress fans and critics alike, Wade Bowen celebrated the return of his annual charity concert, with the two-day Shiner Bock Presents Bowen Musicfest 2022 Benefitting the Bowen Family Foundation taking place this past weekend at Baylor University’s McClane Stadium Touchdown Alley and raising over half a million dollars for local nonprofits.

Performing along with Bowen himself on Saturday, April 9 were reigning ACM New Male Artist of the Year and fellow Texan Parker McCollum as well as multi-Platinum songstress Deana Carter, while Sunday, April 10 featured performances from reigning ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year winner Lainey Wilson as well as GRAMMY Award-winning band Shenandoah. The musical celebration then closed out the weekend with the ever-popular Wade Bowen & Friends All-Star Jam featuring Josh Abbott, Deana Carter, William Clark Green, Casey Donahew, Stoney LaRue, Jamie Lin Wilson, Lee Roy Parnell and Randy Rogers plus surprise guests Cledus T. Judd, William Beckmann and Cody Jinks.

“When we launched our annual Bowen Musicfest and Bowen Classic golf tournament, I never dreamed that we’d still be at it twenty years and millions of dollars later,” reflects Bowen. “I’m so proud of the way my family, friends and hometown continue to step up with hearts and hands to help make Waco a better place. At the Bowen Family Foundation, we believe that Music Heals and I can’t wait to see the good we can do for the community with the funds raised thanks to this incredible group of musicians.”

To date, the annual Bowen Musicfest has allowed the Bowen Family Foundation to help children and families in and around Waco by raising a total of more than $6 million for beneficiaries including March of Dimes Waco, CASA of McLennan & Hill Counties, City of West Disaster Relief, Boys & Girls Clubs of Waco, Inspiración, The Mentoring Alliance and more.

Bowen took the stage at this year’s event with an arsenal of new music after finding a renewed sense of focus and passion over the past year-plus. “Two decades into his music career, Bowen's music retains a newcomer’s energetic fervor, melded with his signature blend of sounds from across the wide spectrum of Texas music,” praises Billboardof the musical reawakening. Meanwhile, MusicRow reminds us that “the perennially popular” singer/songwriter “can always be counted on for Country excellence” as demonstrated by lead single “When Love Comes Around” and follow-up “Phones Don’t Work,” with the title track celebrated in the publication’s latest “DISClaimer” Awards as “a perfect performance” from the “steadfast, real-country Texan.”

For more information, visit www.WadeBowen.com and follow on Facebook @TheWadeBowen or Twitter and Instagram @WadeBowen.

About Wade Bowen
Twenty years and some 4,000 shows into his career, the name Wade Bowen has become synonymous with authentic Country music – and for good reason. An artistic descendant of American icons like Guy Clark, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Robert Earl Keen and more, Bowen is a contemporary link in a Texan chain of roots-rock poets stretching back more than 50 years – yet his ambition never ended at the state line.

Seen as one of the genre’s finest and most authentic modern voices, Bowen’s approach stays rooted in tradition, but also stands on the creative cutting edge. His focus remains on writing unique songs with a literary quality and shifting his sonic territory to match his life, as evidenced by uplifting lead single “When Love Comes Around” and follow-up “Phones Don’t Work” off his forthcoming EP, Where Phones Don’t Work, available everywhere now via Thirty Tigers.

Wielding a knack for direct, poetic songwriting that never panders, Bowen matches his gravel-road growl to an organic sound spanning the whole of Texas and beyond, tapping both country and rock influences. A dozen albums have shown his sonic diversity – including six studio sets, two live collections, a gospel album and an ongoing series of buddy-country hits with fellow Texan, Randy Rogers. Along the way, he’s scored hits and accolades based on quality, not quantity, and continues to perform around 200 nationwide shows each year – including multiple appearances on the venerated Grand Ole Opry stage.

"Punchy and elegant pop songs"  LOUDER THAN WAR

NYC-based post-punk / alternative rock collective London Plane have announced that they will soon unleash their 'Bright Black' album via the Declared Goodslabel - a collection of tracks that are electrified, possessed, pulsing and relentless.

April 20 brings the release of the title track 'Bright Black', at once an anti-war song and a simple, hopeful sentiment or little prayer to whoever is listening (the universe, the gods, you). This is a glimpse of brightness amongst the invasion of darkness, both internal and external, imminent and eventual, this track sets the tone for the album as a whole.

The six-piece's earlier single 'Watch That Madman Go' is also highly relevant given current world events. A rebuke of propaganda, this targets the grand tradition of political dictatorship. Directed by Greg Vegas, the video features some of the 20th century's most despised despots - from the Nazis to Ceaușescu.

London Plane also present 'Francesco (Italiano)', a haunting goth-dance anthem that channels the original 'Francesco' single through a Latin prism. Equally inspired by a cloth-covered 1970s diary by an immigrant, found among personal belongings discarded on a New York curb and the hospitalization of Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy on the eve of his NYC performance, 'Francesco' spins the tale of Catholic Saint, stigmatist, levitator and mystic Padre Pio as a young man.

London Plane is a juggernaut of a band made up of David Mosey (guitar and vocals), Jessica Cole (vocals), Bryan Garbe (drums), Grant Parker (bass), Julian Tulip (synths) and Kristofer Widholm (guitar). Their roots trace back to 2014 backstage at a tribute show to the recently deceased Lou Reed, when Psychedelic Furs' Joe McGinty introduced David to Jessica, both of whom were performing.

Following the success of their debut album 'New York Howl', released in 2018, the band methodically worked on new material in 2019 and early 2020. The result is 'Bright Black', an album packed with hope amidst cultural, sociopolitical, and ecological devastation, screaming a passionate battle cry back to the pop music spectrum. In effect, a hook-filled avant-rock study in context and contradictions.

As of April 20, the single will be available digitally everywhere, including Apple Music and Spotify. The full 'Bright Black' album will be released on June 17 and can already be pre-ordered via Bandcamp.

THE HALO EFFECT Announces Details Of Debut Album, "Days Of The Lost"

THE HALO EFFECT is the biggest surprise in the metal scene in a long time. After making a big impression with their debut single “Shadowminds” and the follow up single “Feel What I Believe,” the band now announces their debut album for August 12th and kicks off the pre-save phase with a third single and video for the album title track “Days Of The Lost”.

The band featuring guitar heroes & songwriting wizards Jesper Strömblad and Niclas Engelin (ex- IN FLAMES), singer Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILITY), as well as former IN FLAMES members Peter Iwers and Daniel Svensson, presenting another masterclass in Swedish melodic death metal!

Frontman Mikael Stanne explains about the song: “Days Of The Lost” is about finding your place in life, about making that outcast experience into something that propels you forward. We all met in our mid teens and we were all trying to find direction, motivation and meaning. Thankfully we found it in creativity and music and we shared this passion and made something from it that remains an essential part of who we are as individuals and as parts of a whole. So this is us reflecting on our past, while watching a new generation slowly but surely find their path. It's about standing up, being your true self and about not letting anything stand in your way. Our choices and our paths have led to all kinds of things but we wouldn't change a thing.”

The video was shot on a cold day in January at a rooftop at a location in Gothenburg called “Ringön,” that used to be all industrial but nowadays turning into a cool place with all its breweries, clubs, venues and all creative sorts of activities. It is directed by Theo Gabay along with his sidekick Morgan Jensen, who are more known in Sweden for their movie and tv work.

LENNE's New EP 'A Sympathetic Antipathy' Out Now via Imagen Records!

A Sympathetic Antipathy is the culmination of a few years of musical collaboration. The project was produced & co-written by Morgan Rose along with Leonard Cerzosie Jr., Corey Lowery, and Jim Taylor. In its various stages of recording, engineering talents include Jose Urquiza, James "Fluff" Harley, and Mike Ferretti. The initial inspiration for the EP was the passing of Lenny's mother after years of battling ALS. Tracks like "Miracle" were written about that struggle. Rose & Cerzosie have a history of writing & recording together and included a remastered version of a song they wrote with The Infinite Staircase in 2013 called "No Amends". Other musicians featured on the EP include Chris Caffrey of Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Justin Taylor of Alborn.

Lenne has plans to play in support of their new EP throughout 2022. The current band line up consists of heavy hitting, Maryland musicians Mike Slaski, Rob Landon, and Stephen Hybdzinski; alongside Evan Crider ,Taylor from PA and Cerzosie from NY.

"This was originally supposed to just be a session in Atlanta with Morgan & Corey. The plan was to do a song in honor of my mom. We ended up having such cool, sometimes borderline morbid chemistry. Funny fact? The original song that started this whole thing didn't even make the EP. We went along this darker, heavier path while still maintaining all the melodies we initially created" says Leonard Cerzosie Jr.

Back in the early 2000's, Leonard Cerzosie Jr. started a band with his brother called The Infinite Staircase that did very well as an independent band. the band worked with artists like Earl Slick from David Bowie's band, Candlebox, Sevendust, and even Zakk Wylde. In 2009, they scored a slot on tour with Black Label Society, Sevendust, and Dope that sealed a lot of friendships they still have to this day.

"In 2010, the love of my life passed away suddenly. Pill overdose. It was a devastating time. She was only 27. Morgan Rose and I wrote and recorded the EP, No Amends that was a dedication to my love" says Leonard Cerzosie Jr.

He continues, "Over the years, I've had my hand in multiple projects. I formed "Le Projet" around 2013 that featured members of Candlebox, Sevendust, and The Infinite Staircase. I also joined the Baltimore band "The Mayan Factor" a few years ago and have toured with them in Mexico City and the states. During all this, my mother was diagnosed with ALS. One day- after performing a friend insisted on introducing me to someone. He was confident we needed to meet. That was the day I met Jim Taylor. We did get along immediately and have since been composing all sorts of music together."

"When my mother passed away, Morgan got very involved with what was going on with me and my dad. He invited us out to his place in Atlanta multiple times. We started recording songs with Corey Lowery that would ultimately become "LeNNe". We spent much time digging deep for the right lyrics and tones. There were multiple artists involved over the course of a few years, but the official line up is me and Jim led by Morgan" he adds.

"Letting You Down" was the first single to be released from the EP. The song features Leonard Cerzosie Jr.Morgan RoseJim Taylor, and Corey Lowery. The video can be seen here: https://youtu.be/C5omrZDaXu0

Metalcore Band Under Auburn Skies Releases Official Music Video for Single "Afraid"

STREAM "Afraid"

https://open.spotify.com/track/775cWhEB2jLELxOp0BhJgm?si=c257a8e37cfc4b45&nd=1

Metalcore band Under Auburn Skies Released the official music video for their single "Afraid."The single is from their EP titled Invention of Reasoning that released in 2021.

"Having Ronnie was very entertaining to say the least haha. When we originally sent him the lyrics and melody, he wasn’t a big fan of just copying the original melody of the pre-chorus so he gave it his own spin and it definitely helped make the lead up to the second chorus/solo a lot more climatic. It was also nice to just know that when I reached out to his manager, EJ Shannon, he originally told us that if Ronnie liked the song, he would do a feature, if not, then we wouldn’t hear back from them. So just knowing Ronnie liked the song was an exciting feeling; Considering I’ve been listening to them since the release of The New Reign, it was a little surreal to have someone like him be featured in one of our songs!" says Oscar Morales.

He adds, "As far as the lyrics pertaining to the song Afraid; It gets some influence from the game series Resident Evil but also a general realization that the planet is collapsing and we as humans are too selfish to realize that and take any sort of a gathered effort to fix it. When so much is falling around us, we still have our personal agendas that tend to take priority over the well being of our planet and society."

Brought together from the heart of Denver, Colorado, Under Auburn Skies is a 6 piece melodic metalcore band that was founded in the Fall of 2016. Their first single, "Perseverance", was released in October of 2016 and was supported by local shows and smaller regional tours. By 2018, the band had released their first EP Afterimage.

The band spent 2019 playing shows supporting the release of the record until the pandemic of 2020 shut the world down. Under Auburn Skies used the down time during COVID-19 to write and record new material.

In 2021 the band released their second EP titled Invention of Reasoning which featured lead singles "Polar Opposites" and "Afraid" feat. Ronnie Canizaro (Born of Osiris)Under Auburn Skies toured in support of this EP in March 2022 and landed shows opening for Cane Hill, Thousand Below and Afterlife.

The band has announced plans to tour again in the summer and fall finishing out the year with potentially a new record. UAS has supported bands such as Arsonists Get All The Girls, The Faceless, Like Moths to Flames, Kingdom of Giants, Phinehas, Novelists and Oh, Sleeper.

Thomas Lindner on “Königsgarde”:

"Stick together, stand together, stand up for each other, side by side, back to back - this is a noble goal, a source of our strength, not only these days, but at any time. The "Königsgarde" (Engl. king's guard) is an ode to unity."

Ben Metzner (FEUERSCHWANZ, d'Artagnan) adds:

"When SCHANDMAUL asked me to be a part of the "Königsgarde" together with Saltatio Mortis, there was no doubt, I was in immediately! With both bands I have many concerts and memories in common. In my younger years I found my way to medieval rock through exactly these bands in the first place.

The circle is closing now and I'm happy to be part of it!"

Saltatio Mortis on the song:

“We are really happy to be part of the king's guard. It was about 20 years ago when our paths crossed with SCHANDMAUL’s for the first time. Colleagues became friends and the meetings on common performances became unforgettable moments. We have shared many beers, joy and sorrow. When SCHANDMAUL invited us to participate in their song and video, we were happy from the bottom of our hearts and, of course, we participated wholeheartedly.

Hopefully we will see each other very soon to celebrate the album and the alliance of the king's guard!”

German folk rock leaders SCHANDMAUL celebrate nearly 25 years with a new masterpiece!

"We report back! A rocking album, nevertheless unmistakably SCHANDMAUL. Fresh wind came additionally by producer Simon Michael, who tickled unexpected sides from the band..." (Martin Duckstein)

"The new SCHANDMAUL album is really on fire and with the first single we literally take the "cudgel out of the sack"! Look forward with us to a fantastic video, and that we can finally rock together again at concerts. We have the music for it in our luggage." (Stefan Brunner)

ABOUT ONI:

In modern times, the demonic ONI figure of Japanese Folklore transformed into a personification of protection, often adorning rooftops or leading festive parades to ward off evil. In this same spirit, the crushing aggressive music of ONI, the band, acts as an empowering weapon. ONI casts out the cruel demons of self-hatred, addiction, and whatever destructive obstacles one might face.

The band Metal Injection described as “key figures in paving the way for a new wave of progressive metalcore,” is led by frontman Jake Oni, who summons cathartic anthems from personal pain. In 2014, Jake first conceived of ONI as “the band I never got to see,” recruiting different players with technical skills to make music that shook the foundations of the scene. Comparisons to genre heavyweights like Meshuggah, Between The Buried And Me, and Protest The Hero came swiftly.

ONI released Ironshore on Metal Blade Records in 2016, heralded by No Clean Singing as “maybe the most impressive debut I’ve heard this year.” Songs like “The Only Cure,” “Barn Burner,” and “Eternal Recurrence” whipped audiences into a frenzy as ONI traveled the globe. The band shared club and festival stages with Gojira, Turnstile, Code Orange, and Rob Zombie, among others.

ONI’s 2019 single “Alone” racked up over 1.3M spins on Spotify alone. In 2022, ONI returns with a sophomore album boasting an even bigger sound than before. ONI's new music has been co-produced by Josh Wilbur (Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium, Megadeth) and Lamb Of God guitarist, Mark Morton.

THUNDER RELEASE NEW SINGLE & LYRIC VIDEO "ACROSS THE NATION"

TAKEN FROM THE UPCOMING ALBUM
DOPAMINE
OUT APRIL 29th 2022 ON BMG

ARENA TOUR MAY 2022

For the third single from Dopamine, Thunder roar back with the album’s most metallic song, the pulverising Across The Nation.

When normal service resumes and the band embark on a run of arena shows in May 2022, it is going to be a spectacle like no other. This song makes that clear, explains Luke. “This is a very direct song, about being in a band but not being able to tour. The frustration we feel because of that is huge, so we’re very much looking forward to the time when we can get out there and play. We managed to get two Christmas gigs done at the end of last year, and it was so great to be back on stage. It was emotional for the crowd as well as us: for a lot of people who came along, it was the first time they’d been out in about 18 months!”

‘Dopamine’ is Thunder’s first ever double album, consisting of 16 tracks, and comes at the perfect time for Thunder, whose line-up for the last quarter-century and more has been Luke and Danny Bowes (singer), plus Ben Matthews (guitar and keyboards), Chris Childs (bass) and Harry James (drums).

They’ve been riding a wave of success since their 2015 comeback album Wonder Days, releasing the acclaimed All The Right Noises last year, with Classic Rock speculating that it could be the band’s best album yet.. The record went Top 3 in the UK Albums Chart; a quite incredible feat for a British hard rock band into their 4th decade.

Thunder are at the very peak of their considerable form, still offering fans doses of ‘Dopamine’ after all these years.
The album will be available in CD and double LP vinyl, with exclusive lenticular cover versions available only from the Thunder online store.

Thunder will also embark upon a UK arena tour in May 2022, including a date at London’s OVO Arena Wembley.

Archspire’s 2017 Relentless Mutation was a cavalcade of speed and extremity — blasting, accelerating and, in partial reference to its title, “mutating” as each song unfolded, all the while rapid-fire, shotgun vocals blurred the lines between a man’s throat and additional instrument. It was, unquestionably, an innovation of sound and technique — Archspire had broken the speed barrier while creating songs memorable as they were unabashedly extreme for extreme metal. Thus, the pressure was already there to top Relentless Mutation when the band started to compile new songs in 2018. The global pandemic heightened the situation (read: no touring, expanded free time) and caused Archspire to turn inward and apply additional rigor to their songwriting process, albeit painstakingly so. But by the end of the fraught calendar year that was 2020, the band emerged with their fourth studio album, Bleed the Future.

According to the members of Archspire — vocalist Oli Aleron, guitarists Dean Lamb and Tobi Morelli, bassist Jared Smith and drummer Spencer Prewett — they originally went into the making of Bleed the Future under the idea they would finish the album in between the various tours scheduled for 2020. Of course, none of that happened, prompting the band to do more pre-production than at any time in their career. Archspire then subjected the album’s eight songs to near-constant critiquing that ensured they came away with a product, that in their estimation, is their best to date.

“The benefit we had was that Relentless came out in 2017,” says Lamb. “Since then, we toured more than we ever did before. We had the viewpoint of ‘What do crowds like? What parts should we write more of? What parts do people give us good feedback on?’ We wanted to expand and write those parts more consistently — there are more hooks and when we do have hooks, we wanted to repeat those parts so people will know that this is the catchy part of the song.”

“The most important thing was that we had clever songwriting,” adds Prewett. “We wanted the album to be more accessible to more people but still keep it extreme, fast and technical. So, we changed our process this time. We recorded rehearsal every day and listened to what we did afterward. We’d then come back to the jam spot and change riffs and ideas based on what everyone was thinking about during the week. It resulted in an album that everyone was happier with.”

Archspire also had the stated goal for Bleed the Future that they wanted to get faster. While such a feat may defy reason given their previous output, the band wrote their fastest song to date — the album-closing “AUM,” a cut that opens up with an audio recording of a German friend of Prewett’s who, according to the drummer, enjoys ragging on Archspire. Comedic clips aside, “AUM,” caps off an album that pushes the boundaries of speed but also is textured — Smith’s ethereal basslines often serve as mid-song interludes, while Lamb and Morelli weave melodic, spiraling guitar lines that annihilate the fretboard during “Abandon the Linear,” “Bleed the Future” and “Acrid Canon.” Accordingly, the members of Archspire were keenly aware of the expectations placed upon them after the success of Relentless Mutation. The online comments regarding whether they could top Relentless Mutation was also occasionally on their minds when composing Bleed the Future and prompted the band to ensure that all five members were happy with everything — down to the last riff, vocal line, bass run and drum pattern. “Audience expectation is really important,” says Lamb. “If we leave the jam spot and everyone is stoked on a song, it’s pretty likely that the audience will be stoked. We have the expectation of the audience, but we also have to be pumped on the music. I feel the proudest of the music. We spent more time on the songs and got better at writing. I feel it’s better music.”

“It’s an extremely tedious writing process,” adds Smith. “If anyone isn’t feeling a riff, we scrap it and have to find something we’re all happy with. It can be super-frustrating in the moment, but in the end, we have something better. We want everything we write to be a step up and I think we achieved that with Bleed the Future.”

The album is accompanied by a concept developed by Aleron that begs the question: What happens when humans start giving birth to non-humans? Born from a weird dream the vocalist had, Bleed the Future’s concept does not have finality or a conclusion. It does, however, posit a few ethical dilemmas to ties into Archspire’s long-running science fiction themes.

“I thought about what if those things they were giving birth to could actually benefit them in the future so they wouldn’t want to reject them,” says Aleron. “What would happen to the humans that weren’t born? Would they go to a different dimension? I played with that whole idea because I hadn’t seen a horror movie where that was the theme. It worked for all the songs. The only social commentary is that people don’t know what they’re giving birth to — if you put someone on this planet, you don’t know whether they’re going to be good or evil.”

Bleed the Future was recorded in October and November 2020 at Flatline Audio in Colorado with producer/engineer Dave Otero. This was the second consecutive album the band worked with Otero. According to Morelli, the recording process was seamless. “Dave was already familiar with what we each can do individually,” he says. “This time, he was more prepared to tackle those elements. How he tracks was more focused on what we were capable of and I think it really shows here.”

As live show activity for 2021 hangs in the balance (Archspire currently has dates lined up for November), the pandemic has prompted many bands to re-think their new album release dates as well as how to stay visible in a world currently without touring. But, with a fanbase that has embraced the band’s online presence that includes playthroughs, tutorials and now, cooking shows (!), Archspire heads into the Bleed the Future album cycle the benefactors of their commitment to touring and, most of all, position as one of death metal’s most forward-thinking bands.

“We have a lot of awesome fans, so I think they’ll be there to support us and pick up the album because they like the music,” says Lamb. “We’re a self-managed band; we’ve been working with the same label for ten years and I think the outcome will be good. Would it had been better if we had been on a full North American tour starting a week before the album release? Sure, but I think people will come out and support us through other means. As soon as we’re ready to go back on tour and everybody is safe to do so, we’ll be out there.”

Industrial/ Electronic Rock Band GHOSTATIC Release Official Music Video for Single "Still Haunt My Dreams"

"Still Haunt My Dreams" can be streamed/downloaded at:

https://ffm.to/nxm40wp

Cleveland, Ohio industrial/electronic rock band GHOSTATIC has released a brand new single "Still Haunt My Dreams" to all major platforms via Imagen Records. The band released the official music video for it today!

"After releasing my debut EP on Imagine Records, which was more electronic and bass heavy, I decided to stick to my roots and lean more on the heavy rock/metal style that grabbed my ears when I was an angsty teen. 'Still Haunt My Dreams' is a hit-you-in-the-face roller coaster, conveying the fear, damage, and emotional drain of never being able to escape your past," says Adamo Fiscella, the band's vocalist/guitarist.

From hobby to obsession, raw to mega production, here and the afterlife, Ghostatic is an ominous, all-encompassing presentation of sounds and experiences written, performed, and produced by Adamo Fiscella.

The band released the official music video for "The New Revelation" late last year. The video can be seen here: https://youtu.be/q-6QMosplM4

Live band members:

ROTTING CHRIST have reached another peak in their long career that now spans over more than three decades. The Greeks have literally stood the test of time. With a steady core line-up and their well-honed live delivery, ROTTING CHRIST are filling concert halls and reap enthusiastic crowd reactions wherever they go. This demonstration of love from their followers is not just driven by nostalgia as the band has managed to evolve and grow, while staying relevant beyond the classics with their highly acclaimed latest albums such as 'Aealo' (2010), 'Κατά τον δαίμονα εαυτού’ (2013), and 'Rituals' (2016).

Now, with the new offering 'The Heretics', ROTTING CHRIST are opening a brand new chapter. With confidence and skills derived from experience, each song represents its own sonic universe. Guitarist and vocalist Sakis Tolis in collaboration with his brother Themis on drums achieve a perfect balance of amalgamating their classic and unique style of riffing and rhythm with exciting new elements sprinkled in to keep their material exciting and fresh. The experienced is enhanced by Jens Bogren's equally clear and transparent yet also massive as well as sombre mix and mastering at his widely renowned Fascination Street Studios (AMORPHIS, BORKNAGAR, MOONSPELL, DEVIN TOWNSEND, and many more).

ROTTING CHRIST were founded by Sakis Tolis and his brother Themis in the year 1987. Starting out on a basis of death and grind, the Greeks had already embarked on a darker musical journey by the time their debut full-length ‘Thy Mighty Contract’ (1993) was revealed. On the following seven albums covering a ten-year period from 'Non Serviam' (1994) to 'Sanctus Diavolos' (2004), ROTTING CHRIST steadily defined their own distinct style by experimenting with elements from death, heavy, and gothic metal without betraying their black roots. At the same time, the band went from underground heroes to headliner status. With the highly acclaimed ninth album, 'Theogonia' (2007), the Greek stalwarts added an unmistakable native element to their sound, which has remained with them as a signature trademark ever since. Exploring the mythical legacy of cultures around the globe led to ROTTING CHRIST's massively successful latest release, 'Rituals' (2016). With more than 30 years, 13 studio albums, a dozen EPs, singles and split releases, as well as more than 1.250 shows under their belt, 2018 marked the year of 'Their Greatest Spells' (2018), where they musically revisited their exciting legacy to connect their past with the present.

'The Heretics' marks another step in the evolution of the Greek masters. Buckle up for a fascinating musical ride through the woes of religious wars, Zoroastrianism and the eternal war between good and evil. Metal at its best!
