NYC-based alternative rock outfit Black Rose Burning has revealed their new video for 'The Wheel', the title track of the full-length album by the same name. 'The Wheel' is their second full-length effort, following the band's debut album 'The Year of the Scorpion', released in 2020.

"This is the third video for the Black Rose Burning Sci-Fi space series 'Under Twin Suns', which documents the journey of "The Traveler" from earth to his homeworld. The song encouraged the spaghetti western feel of this video, which is a space age homage to films like 'High Plains Drifter' and 'The Good The Bad And The Ugly'. I'm a big fan of that genre of films as well, and I've always wanted to pay tribute with a video of my own," says George Grant.

Running at about 50 minutes, this collection of 12 galactic offerings was inspired by love lost, love won and outer space. This sophomore album takes the band's sound to a completely new level in terms of songwriting and composition.

With a healthy set of post-punk gothic rock earworms, it should come as no surprise that this album would involve Jason Corbett of ACTORS at his Jacknife Sound Studio in Vancouver.

Black Rose Burning was formed in 2018 by instrumentalist, producer and engineer George Grant, whose soulful vocal delivery, instantly recognizable voice, unique grooves and solid instrumentation are standout features of this music.

Spanning the realms of multiple genres, Grant's influences are also multi-generational while maintaining an overall succinct flow and feel. Roughly 40 years of songwriting across many styles has helped George embellish on clever hooks, drive and the gothic-pop sensibilities of The Cult's early years.

"This release was a labor of love after the success of my first record. I was working through and adjusting to the post covid landscape and took solace in having the time to make another proper record," says George Grant.

"Over the past four years or so, quite a few relationships that I valued were destroyed in an instant - over politics or just basic unacceptable differences. Then came Covid and I lost a few more for reasons beyond their control. There was a lot of anger in my first record. This one is more melancholic than angry. I write about outer space a lot. On both records. I find it inspirational. It’s vastness. It’s the place I’d most like to go. Maybe the place I’d most like to escape to might be a better definition."

'The Wheel' was recorded in George’s own studio, PV Recording Company, which has over the years hosted such artists as Emelio Zeff China (Peter Murphy), Knox Chandler (Siouxsie And The Banshees), Chibi (The Birthday Party Massacre), Nellie McKay, Julia Marcel, Paul Bakija (Reagan Youth), Ego Likeness and Voltaire (with whom Grant also played bass for 10 years).

Grant has also assembled for live performances, including guitarist Frank Morin (World Inferno Friendship Society) and drummer Luis Infantas (Monster Zero).

BRKN LOVE Share "Like A Drug" Video

Toronto-based alt-rock band BRKN LOVE have released a new single, titled “Like A Drug”. The track arrives with an accompanying music video featuring Royal Thunderfrontwoman Mlny Parsonz - watch it below.

Songwriter and frontman Justin Benlolo says, “I became infatuated with 70’s disco and funk over the last year, I really loved that a lot of those influences were showing up in modern music again. In this song, we decided to embody the groove of those timeless classics whilst mixing in our own blend of dark and moody riff-rock. In a sense, this is a rock and roll party song.

Lyrically, it’s the story of star-crossed lovers who are tied up in a toxic relationship. It’s become a “one-sided” relationship, yet this person still justifies their love while being an absolute piece of garbage. As I’ve grown older, I’ve seen this happen too many times and decided it would be an interesting thing to touch on. I think a lot of people could relate to this and are probably in that situation right now. I tried to think of what the “bad guy” might be thinking in this context and what motivates them. All in all, while the lyrics may be serious, I hope this song makes you get up and move!

We also shot a video in between a few shows last Fall - our most silly and fun yet! Ultimately, we decided that this song and its up-beat feel, needed a cheeky video to accompany the vibe. Our friend, Mlny Parsonz (Royal Thunder), was cool enough to come down to the shoot and play a part in this as well. I’m very excited for everyone to hear this thing and I hope you’ll be ready for what we got coming next. Thank you.”

Any time Kenny Chesney takes a year off, he feels disconnected from the life that is No Shoes Nation. Proclaimed “The King of the Road” by the Wall Street Journal, there is something that happens when he takes one of country music’s most exceptional set of songs and shares them with the people who live their lives inside his many hits.

Given that it’s been three years since he’s played a full-on concert, when the four-time Country Music Association and four-time consecutive Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year hits the stage, he’s coming with everything he’s got. For those who are used to his high-velocity presence and shows that make people smile for days, Chesney decided to up the ante – and has added Keith Urban multi-instrumentalist Danny Rader on guitar and Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit drummer Nick Buda.

“When we were looking at where to go, what to do next, it was interesting to see the chemistry with different people,” Chesney explains. “So many great musicians came out, which took all of us to a new place in how we see these songs, what they’re capable of. But in the end, because this is a band, not just a group of musicians who back someone up, what Danny and Nick brought was a freshness that hits hard and lifts everything up in some pretty great ways.

“Wyatt, Harmoni, Kenny Greenberg, and Jon are all still here – and bringing that magic like they always do. But adding the new players, they’re going to some pretty great places. We’ve not gone into the big room yet, but I can tell you from the run-throughs, it’s awesome.”

Buda, who left the jam band world to concentrate on session work, went to Boston’s acclaimed Berklee School of Music on the recommendation of Sting’s longtime drummer Vinnie Colaiuta. Rader, a three-time Academy of Country Music Award winner, most recently for 2017 Specialty Instrument(s) Player of the Year, plays bouzouki, mandolin, banjo and accordion as well as the electric guitar that’s tangled with Keith Urban live since 2010.

“When you’re playing as many different kinds of music as we’re actually playing every night – it’s rock, it’s reggae, it’s calypso and singer/songwriter stuff – having players who switch gears without people feeling it; using that chemistry really makes things electric onstage. We’re still in the early phases of this, but I think once we get out on those big stages, it’s going to be awesome with where these songs are going already.”

Here And Now 2022 kicks off April 23 at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium. In 2020, VOYAGER's music video for "Runaway" was exclusively premiered via 'Eurovision - Australia Decides!' Following an application via the Song Portal, the band finally received recognition for submitting a track and were paid tribute on the live television broadcast that aired on Saturday, February 8 on the Gold Coast. The song was taken from VOYAGER's 2019 release 'Colours in the Sun,' which received a wealth of international accolades. Since their 1999 formation, whatever genre norms, boundaries and regulations thrust upon Perth, Australia’s Voyager have been smashed. They embrace, if not brandish pop; employ a keytar on stage, and, bring forward a positive, if not uplifting feeling to their music, running head-first into the endless parade of heavy bands who see the world in a different light. It’s perhaps why the title of their seventh full-length and first for Season of Mist, Colours in the Sun, is apropos: Voyager simply prefers to see the bright side of things.

“Observations of the malaises of the modern world and the baffling obsession with purity and difference all make me think,” says frontman and founding member Danny Estrin. “We’ve never had it better and we’ve never had it more colorful. To me that’s progress, it’s adaptation, it’s evolution and it’s astounding.”

The follow-up to 2017’s Ghost Mile, Colours in the Sun finds Voyager enmeshed in rich, melodic, song-first tapestries, led by Estrin’s smooth, capable clean vocal delivery. Estrin is self-aware of his vocals, calling them “unique and ‘80s.” But whatever tag Estrin affixes to his voice, they are the propellent throughout Colours in the Sun, serving up a steady diet of soaring, emotive choruses, where melody is paramount and along the way, even getting some help from another distinctive belter, Leprous’s Einar Solberg on “Entropy.”

“Einar and I became good friends on our tours through Europe and Australia,” notes Estrin. “I couldn’t help but ask him to guest on the album. He is a fantastic musician and vocalist. I sent him a reference track which he swiftly ignored and laid his own tracks down. The result is stunning!”

The kaleidoscope of sounds that comprise the album’s ten cuts is the result of Voyager’s far-reaching influences, many of which go beyond the traditional realms of metal and rock. Estrin calls it “catchy at the top, proggy at the bottom, as if Dream Theater and Depeche Mode had a baby.” It’s almost as if the term “progressive” is too limiting for Voyager, particularly when the guitar tandem of Simone Dow and Scott Kay merge for complex rhythms while doing battle against Estrin’s vaudeville-like keyboards (!) on “Reconnected.”

The “proggy at the bottom” notice is served by way of the rhythm section of bassist Alex Canion and drummer Ashley Doodkorte, who stretch their musical tentacles across busy, active cuts such as “Saccharine Dream” and the syncopated “Water Over the Bridge.” “I think we found our ‘voice’ on V (2014) and have been building on that ever since,” says Estrin. “The synthwave prog sound is really something that has naturally developed and has been refined even more on the new album. Every record is progress — that’s what progressive music is all about!”

According to Estrin, the Colours in the Sun album title encompasses a “vibrant multitude of people coming together under the hot Australian sun to create a beautiful and colorful soundscape.” It’s capped off by artwork courtesy of Doodkorte, who made the piece out of photographs near his house in Perth. A closer inspection reveals there are seven suns on the cover, one for each Voyager album, topped off by an updated version of the band’s logo comprised of five strokes, one for each member. No doubt a fitting visual summation of a band whose progress can be the described in the most literal and figurative of terms.

“It’s been a slow steady growth over the years,” concludes Estrin. “Other bands come and go after a year of fame. I really feel like we’ve built up an incredible fanbase, especially over the last decade, and the deal with Season of Mist seemed the logical step to take it to the next level together.”

STONED JESUS Signs to Season of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of psychedelic rock trio STONED JESUS. Forged in Kyiv in 2009, this Ukrainian band submerges themselves in the world of doom, grunge and prog, while maintaining their own identity. Formed by Igor Sydorenko in Kyiv in 2009, STONED JESUS quickly progressed beyond their tongue-in-cheek moniker. The Ukrainian trio's second full length "Seven Thunders Road" converged doom, prog and grunge in their own recognizable way and the album's centrepiece, 13-min long "I'm the Mountain", boasts 15 million plays on YouTube.

German genre-fusing visionaries LORD OF THE LOST return in 2022 with a new EP, The Heartbeat of The Devil! Out May 6, 2022 via Napalm Records, the EP not only features two versions of its title track, which was first released on the band’s most recent full-length – the conceptual masterpiece JUDAS – but three cover songs encompassing the band’s free-thinking attitude.

Today, the band has released the first cover track from the new EP – a cover of “Judas” by Lady Gaga – an artist that has inspired frontman Chris Harms for years. LORD OF THE LOST managed to make this song their own while keeping the main structures of the song alive, adding retro synthesizer sounds, double bass passages, and a combination of growling screams and clear vocals.

We wanted to visualize it, so we are wearing absolute different style clothing in the clip, summoning the New York hip hop and hardcore bands outfit of the 80’s. We made a very cool and funny mood video that can’t be taken seriously, at all. So many bad things happened to us recently that we needed some happiness, at last. So we took our teenage ourselves out again and were just fooling around.”

PADDY AND THE RATS throw a first class pirate party!

With their six full-length, PADDY AND THE RATS serve a top-notch pirate party fueled by a heavy dose of Punk, Polka and Folk, turning the world into a giant pub! This Irish influenced sound will assuredly bring up the urge to slam down a cold one while swinging happily along arm in arm to the beat! Formed in 2008 by singer and songwriter Paddy, the untamed unit have built a respective name within the scene due to hard work and extensive touring all over Europe – with more than 400 shows including at the world famous Wacken Open Air and the Sziget Festival. The band's latest album, Shaped By Fire, was produced by AS I LAY DYING and was mixed by Joseph McQueen at Sparrow Sound in Los Angeles, CA while mastering was completed by Ted Jensen at Sterling Sound in Nashville, TN. The only exception was for the track “My Own Grave” which was produced by AS I LAY DYING, co-produced by Drew Fulk, and mixed by Adam “Nolly” Getgood. The artwork was created by Corey Meyers.

The band releases the Shaped By Fire (Deluxe Version) which features live and instrumental versions as well as re-interpretations of the original tracks. Formed in 2016 as a project of D. (Woods of Desolation, Remete), Unfelled first emerged with the solo demo offering “Beneath Distant Skies” at the end of 2017. Expanding the line-up in 2020, fellow veterans Mitch (Austere, Dearthe) and Vlad (Drudkh, Windswept) were enlisted on vocals and drums respectively, completing the vision for the band. Moving forward as a three-piece, the forthcoming full-length, recorded through 2020-2021, sees Unfelled pursuing heavier, more aggressive territory, yet never entirely eschewing the sense of melody and atmosphere established on the debut demo. In 2021, Unfelled proudly joined forces with Season of Mist who will release the album at a date TBA.

SWEDEN'S SEVENTH WONDER ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM "THE TESTAMENT"

"The Testament" follows 2018's "Tiara", which, at the time, was the band's first new music in eight years. While the wait between albums was, mercifully, shorter this time around, the band certainly did not need any extra time to craft a stunning album showcasing their prolific instrumental skills and intricate songwriting. Indeed, "The Testament" is a high watermark in the band's already revered discography.

Seventh Wonder was formed in 2000 by bassist Andreas Blomqvist, guitarist Johan Liefvendahl, and drummer Johnny Sandin after their previous band fell apart. The music they were writing and playing turned towards progressive metal. When keyboardist Andreas “Kyrt” Söderin joined in late 2000, their new sonic explorations were only cemented further. Two demos were recorded (2001 & 2003) and the latter caught the attention of the label Lion Music, who signed the band in 2004. That collaboration spawned the first Seventh Wonder album, ‘Become’, which was released in June 2005. “Become” was well received by progressive metal fans and media alike; however, the band and singer Andi Kravljaca decided to part ways shortly after the recording process had ended. Enter the brilliant Tommy Karevik (Kamelot, ex-Vindictiv), who joined the band in 2005, actually prior to the official release of “Become”.

The next album, ‘Waiting In The Wings’ was recorded in 2006 and mixed and mastered by legendary Tommy Hansen. This album was a huge leap forward in terms of song complexity and maturity and received outstanding reviews and fan accolades, establishing Seventh Wonder as a force to be reckoned with in the progressive metal world. 2007 was spent playing live in support of the album, including sharing stage with legendary bands such as Queensrÿche, Testament, Redemption, and many others in England, Holland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.

Simultaneously in 2007, a follow-up to ‘Waiting In The Wings’ was written. The band hit the studio in May of 2008 to record their third full-length, “Mercy Falls”, which was hailed as a true masterpiece at the time of its release. "Mercy Falls" was supported with several live shows in Europe, including Italy, Norway, Finland, and Holland.

In 2010, the band released “The Great Escape”, which again was met with critical and fan acclaim and cemented the band's standing as one of the premiere progressive metal bands in existence. In support, the band again toured in Europe and also appeared live in the USA at ProgPower Festival.

After "The Great Escape" album release, drummer Johnny Sandin left the band and would later be replaced by the incredibly talented Stefan Norgren (ex-Lion´s Share). Seventh Wonder fans collectively lost their minds in 2018 when it was announced that after an agonizing eight year wait, the band's latest studio album "Tiara" would be released. "Tiara" once again continued the band's winning streak of crafting progressive metal masterpieces and was greeted with high levels of enthusiasm.

Now, in 2022, the band one again returns with another magnum opus of a progressive metal album, "The Testament".

California tech-death metal trio INANIMATE EXISTENCE are back with a collection of scorching new tracks that make up their next full-length studio album. The 26-date trek will kick off in Anaheim and make stops in Austin, Atlanta, and Brooklyn before concluding on July 1st in Fresno.
