Swedish heavy metal outfit PERPETUAL ETUDE have released a lyric video for their song "Our Love" - the closing track from their debut album, 'Now Is The Time', which was released last autumn. Check out the lyric video below!

Perpetual Etude was formed in 2019 by Magnus Mild with the sole goal to bring back the best of heavy metal from the '80s. Influenced by the genre when growing up, Magnus teamed up with members from NorthTale, ex-members from Dionysys, Nation, Shadowquest, as well as Göran Edman on “Sail Away” to complete the vision. The result is the best of a whole decade in the astounding debut 'Now Is The Time', an album filled with blazing guitar riffs, keyboard solos, and catchy choruses.

'Nightmare Frontier' was mixed and mastered by Charles Elliott at Tastemaker Audio. Drums were engineered by John Haddad at Trench Studios, while tracking for all instruments was handled by Elliott.

American death metal masters Abysmal Dawn are back! After a six-year gap, the Los Angeles-based outfit and Season of Mist hereby present Phylogenesis. Not that Abysmal Dawn have laid low since the release of 2014’s lauded Obsolescence full-length. Far from it. They toured North America four times and hit Europe and South America for the first time. Meanwhile, founding member Charles Elliott opened his studio, Tastemaker Audio, to accelerate Abysmal Dawn's own recording needs, as well to act as a bridge to other bands in need of a knowledgeable and relatable audio technician. But the road to Phylogenesis wasn’t an easy one. Besides work-horsing it throughout the U.S., Canada, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Brazil, Chile, and beyond in support of Obsolescence, Elliott and crew managed through some of the lowest points in Abysmal Dawn’s career. Internal strife, administrative burdens, musical differences, and motivation all had their various ways with the Californians. Yet, from the darkest depths, they prevailed, heralding a new chapter in the group’s storied history. Indeed, Phylogenesis is Abysmal Dawn’s rebirth!

“There was a brief period after doing two months of touring back-to-back in the U.S. and Europe in 2015 that I almost felt like calling it quits,” Abysmal Dawn’s Charles Elliott says. "It was our first time in Europe and I just had a hard time enjoying it. The band had grown, and I was a bit tired of having to handle most of the managerial aspects of what we do. The joy had been ripped from things and people weren't getting along, and some people acted like they didn't want to be there. But we went our separate ways with some of the members and all of a sudden, the band was fun again. They went on to other things and we're probably all happier in the end. Sometimes, I feel it's a miracle this album or band even still exists. I've avoided swearing on our records in the past, but the album's opening line is actually, 'Fuck you all!' Maybe it's primitive by our past lyrical standards but it's genuine and it's the most heartfelt, ‘Fuck you, we’re still here’ I could put on a record. I’m glad we stuck it out because I think this is our proudest moment so far.”

To say Phylogenesis is an extension or continuation of Obsolescence isn’t exactly as straightforward as it should be. On one hand, all the Abysmal Dawn trademarks—technicality, brutality, and melody—remain ingrained in the songwriting fabric. On the other, the band’s fifth full-length is more cohesive, rhythmically sophisticated, and far more adventurous. Elliott calls it “a major evolution.” Certainly, the six years of constant refinement, edge smoothing, and transition adjustments have paid off. What started as jam sessions between Elliott, bassist Eliseo Garcia, and drummer James Coppolino in 2016 eventually turned into one-offs. That there was no time limit to put Phylogenesis together ended up both a blessing and a curse. Total creative freedom at very little expense is a dream scenario, something a band of Abysmal Dawn’s stature took advantage of for their magnum opus. But without a ticking clock and dollars burning, the pressure to focus was far less severe, resulting in delays and feature creep.

“It was basically James, Eliseo and me meeting up at my place, jamming on ideas, seeing what worked and tweaking them from there,” says Elliott. “With the exception of ‘Hedonistic,’ James wrote all his drum parts. Obsolescence was demoed with me programming all the drums since our drummer at the time had moved up north. It was what it was, but it was pretty frustrating at the time. Having someone to bounce ideas off of in real-time, helped in maintaining the joy and momentum of making this album. Once it was time to record bass and leads, Eliseo and Vito [Petroni; guitars] would trickle in when they had ideas. We had no real deadline and seemingly infinite time to do things. Admittedly, I think it was hard for me to focus on the lyrics, not only because of things in my personal life but because I was focused on getting the guys in to complete their parts so I could focus.”

Finish Phylogenesis they did, in fact. Under significant duress, Abysmal Dawn had overcome their roadblocks. The results of the group’s undulating professional and personal schedules aren’t to be trifled with, however. Opening track “Mundane Existence” is a firestorm of labyrinthine yet savage riffs, enraged vocals, and machine-gun drumming. It’s death metal personified, enlightened, and perfected. Elsewhere, tracks such as “The Path of the Totalitarian,” “A Speck in the Fabric of Eternity,” and “Soul-Sick Nation” (feat. Fredrik Folkare of Unleashed, Firespawn, et al.) pose real threats to the status quo. In all three, Elliott’s passion for and dominance of death metal’s tenets are tangible. But there’s more to Abysmal Dawn on Phylogenesis than customary ritual. From the ruthless groove of “Hedonistic” and the staccato stabs of “Coerced Evolution” to the late album gem “The Lament Configuration” and the blistering cover of Death classic “Flattening of Emotion,” the songs are designed to slay in ways we’re just beginning to understand.

“We’re a pretty brutal death metal band, but what I feel like sets us apart is that no matter what we do there’s always some underlying sense of melody and hooks,” Elliott says. “There are lots of bands that are ridiculously brutal. There are lots of bands that are over-the-top technically or are blatantly melodic. We combine all that but we try to write something that sticks with you over time; that you'll keep coming back to, and that works well in the live environment. We love all types of music, whether it's fusion or industrial music, and it shines through here and there. But in the end, though, we're a pure death metal band at heart trying to retain that old-school feel with an updated take for a new generation.”

Conceptually, Phylogenesis deals with the breakdown of social constructs humans have built over time. The album title is defined by the evolution of (or diversification) a species. So, Phylogenesis is an ironic take on Elliott’s observations, particularly how social media has accelerated and exacerbated the de-evolution of humanity’s interactive abilities. The cover art, again by Swedish artist Pär Olofsson, isn’t directly correlated to the lyrical narrative, but it does continue where Obsolescence left off. The Olofsson cover art has envisioned what it’s like on the inside of the Obsolescence tower, and that it’s humans that are being fed back to humans. The cover art continuity is akin to Richard Fleischer’s famed Soylent Green film but ripped through Elliott’s demented death metal lens.

“I think the lyrics deal a lot with things we encounter in our modern society and the effect it has on the individual,” says Elliott. “The dehumanization effect and divisiveness caused by bickering on social media (‘The Path of the Totalitarian’), the decay of legitimate journalism (‘True to the Blind’), struggling to find purpose in the pursuit of happiness (‘Hedonistic’), wishing something was greater than yourself (‘Mundane Existence’), the mental illness epidemic (‘Soul-Sick Nation’), embracing pain over numbness to feel alive (‘The Lament Configuration’), having our consciousnesses uploaded to a grid in order to make life sustainable on Earth (‘Coerced Evolution’), and the common theme throughout the band of wishing life on Earth would just start over (‘A Speck in the Fabric of Eternity’). I had started off wanting it to be a concept record but later scrapped that idea because I didn't like how it was going. In the end though, it just naturally all tied together in some way. Even the Death cover seemed to fit lyrically in hindsight. ‘Coerced Evolution’ is really the only song that in the sci-fi vein this time around. As for Pär, yes, he did the cover art once again. We love working with him and we’ve been creating great covers with him since 2006.”

Abysmal Dawn recorded Phylogenesis over a multi-year timeframe. In fact, Coppolino’s drums were tracked as far back as 2017 with long-time collaborator John Haddad at Trench Studios. The rhythm guitars and vocals, as produced by Mike Bear and Elliott, were also done at Tastemaker Audio the same year. So, some of Phylogenesis goes back, but the parts are no less lethal. Slowly but surely, the group’s newest and greatest materialized, with Elliott finishing the lead guitars, bass, additional vocals, re-amping, and mixing sessions in 2019, again at Tastemaker Audio. Abysmal Dawn then packaged up their fifth for mastering ace Tony Lindgren (Rotting Christ) to handle at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. Contemporary yet absolutely remorseless, Abysmal Dawn’s Phylogenesis is death metal for a new age.

“We took our time and went to few studios this time around, so it’s a bit of a laundry list,” Elliott says. “John Haddad engineered the drums at Trench Studios. John has been involved with all our records in some form since From Ashes. Mike Bear helped track and produce the vast majority of my vocals and rhythm guitars out of my studio. Mike produced both Leveling the Plane of Existence (2010) and Obsolescence. I tracked and produced all the leads, bass parts, and other odds and ends and mixed the album as well. Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios mastered the record in the end.”

As for Abysmal Dawn’s next steps, the quartet await the release of Phylogenesis. With past support coming from the Village Voice, Decibel, PopMatters, and Pandora, as well as the group's rabidly-devoted fanbase, the future of death metal is in good hands.

SEVEN YEAR WITCH Release Official Music Video for Newest Single, "Cyanide"!

South Carolina Hard Rock, Blues-Punk band SEVEN YEAR WITCH has released the official music video for their new single, "Cyanide." The track "Cyanide" was recorded at Studio Barbarossa in Orlando, Florida by Josh Saldate, with the music video created by Justin West, who has filmed the majority of the Seven Year Witch music videos.

"'Cyanide' is our most ambitious release to date. The song is telling a tragic love story, and the music video follows closely with it. It feels like a Seven Year Witch movie! Definitely poured our hearts into this one, and it paid off. We strayed from our usual riff-based song structure to a more vocal and chorus-driven structure with this one" - Seth Burden (Seven Year Witch)"

The backwoods of South Carolina isn’t one’s first thought when it comes to a modern shock to the heart of rock n’ roll. Straight out of left-field with an electrifying hybrid of hard rock, blues-punk, and 70’s garage rock, Seven Year Witch emerges with enough stage energy to feed a generation starved of real rock n’ roll. After years of performing under a different name, the group unveiled the Seven Year Witch title in 2018. The band’s reception exploded regionally, as they began to tour heavily and open the stage for countless national acts. Having battled poverty and the scrutiny of rock n’ roll in the bible belt, Seven Year Witch has cut their teeth and made their own luck.

Shining Release "KMA"

Who's missing loud concerts, sweaty clubs, and crowded dance floors?

Who's missing parties that last till the sun comes up?

Shining's Jørgen Munkeby has such a hunger for these rampant nights where everyone's doing everything wrong that he penned a song about it. It's a love letter to gin and serotonin, and to loud music and low lights.

Listen to "KMA" below.

"KMA" is the third single to be released from Shining's new EP IDGAF, and it lives up to the EP title. Like mixing engineer Zardonic (BTW, check out his remix of "IDGAF!") said after hearing the song for the first time: "I love this song so much! It's like a big fucking tantrum!"

"KMA" stands as the perfect illustration of what the fans have come to love about Shining: The band always does whatever pleases it musically, and never asks for permission. This unpredictable rock band, which started out as an acoustic jazz quartet more than 20 years ago, has yet again surprised us with a new musical offering that's unexpected and invigorating.

Will we see you at your local rock joint headbanging and screaming from the top of your lungs when we're again allowed to be rowdy and rude?

Shining's ready! Are you?

Red Handed Denial Drop Brand New Track & Video; "Father Said"

Canadian Metalcore powerhouse, Red Handed Denial, have released a brand new single today. The track, titled "Father Said", is the band's first new music in 2 years and is accompanied by an official music video. Find the track on streaming platforms here and watch the video below.

Speaking on the band's brand new release, vocalist and YouTube sensation, Lauren Babic shares

"We’re so excited to release our first single to kick off this new era for the band. “Father Said” marks a huge accomplishment for us - it’s a perfect blend of the heaviness from our album Redeemer and the cheekiness from our EP Wanderer, mixed with new pop and synth elements we’ve never experimented with before. This is the most innovative sound we’ve ever achieved and the most vulnerable message we’ve ever put forth. We especially can’t wait to bring it to the live stage.Thematically, it’s about growing up with toxic family members. It’s a very personal song to me and KVLTURE who I wrote it with. I hope people connect to it. "

Red Handed Denial delicately balances heavy subject matter with soaring melodies. The Toronto quartet continue to captivate audiences with this hybrid. After racking up over 5 million-plus streams independently and touring with various heavy hitters, the group draw up the perfect escape plan from a world on the brink as they launch their new era, highlighted by today's release.

Following 2013’s Stories of Old, the Wanderer EP yielded “Trespasser,” which gathered 953K-plus Spotify streams. They only increased their momentum with Redeemer in 2019. Empire” racked up over 948K Spotify streams. The group surprised audiences everywhere with a cover of “Telephone” by Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, racking up over 1.1 million Spotify streams.

Along the way, Trivium tapped them as an opener, while they shared stages with everyone from Protest the Hero and The Contortionist to I See Stars, Silent Planet, and A Skylit Drive.

News on more new music coming soon.

Emperor of Ice Cream 'Weather Vane' - dreamgazey proof of band's potency after 25-year hiatus

"Understated indie pop gems" ~ Steve Cummins, The Sunday Times

“A shimmering nugget of indie pop” ~ Ed Power, Irish Examiner

"A superb Time Machine of Musical Gorgeousness" ~ John Lofus, 8 Radio

"A thing of beauty... Sweet sounds to our ears... Superb and invigorating music through and through" ~ Big Takeover Magazine (New York)

"A wonderfully enjoyable and uplifting listen that has been worth the wait" ~ The Ginger Quiff (Scotland)

"Fantastic – a stellar melange of Ride, Mercury Rev, early Telescopes, The Verve and Sparklehorse" ~ Amplify Music Magazine (Canada)

“Great songs” ~ Tom Dunne, News Talk

“A soundtrack perfect for the end of summer” ~ Shoegaze Blog (Italy)

Ireland's Emperor of Ice Cream has released their new 'Weather Vane' single via FIFA Records. Moods, motives and expectations can sometimes make us feel like we are caught up in a tornado of emotions when a relationship hits a rocky patch. This song about the hope that remains even when things are falling apart.

Mixed and produced by Graham Finn, this single was mastered by Tom Volpicelli (The Who, Iggy Pop, The Alarm, Pat Benatar, The Bloodhound Gang) at The Mastering House in New Jersey.

They have also done a second vinyl pressing of their debut album 'No Sound Ever Dies' LP, which had sold out but is now available on white vinyl, CD, cassette and digital download. It will ship out August 27, the day before its first birthday.

Almost 30 years after forming, they finally released their debut album ‘No Sound Ever Dies’ via FIFA Records. Now based in Cork, Waterford, New York and Amsterdam respectively, Edward Butt (bass), John 'Haggis' Hegarty (vocals), Graham Finn (guitars) and Colum Young (drums) decided to put out their debut album that Sony Records had shelved 25 years ago after signing the band - only better.

Returning with the new single 'Weather Vane', the band captures the zeitgeist of this isolationist day in age, where social relations can be somewhat strained. Moods, motives and expectations can sometimes make us feel like we are caught up in a tornado of emotions when a relationship hits a rocky patch. This song is about the hope that remains even when things are falling apart.

Offering driving rhythms and thumping basslines, the band lays the foundations for raw and melodic guitars, topped by elegant, lush vocals and harmonies. A natural direction for the band, they bring in a fresher and raw sound, letting the parts speak for themselves rather than enveloping them with pedals and tricks.

Earlier, the band shared an audio-visual taster of 'High Rise Low Rise', a song about growing up amongst friends, who are viewed as misfits, oddballs and freaks. Nevertheless, the ideas and dreams that flow between these strange kids will change them all and the world around them, forever. The accompanying videowas written and directed by Veronica Terreblanche and reimagined by John Haggis with the director's permission.

Since re-emerging on the scene in May 2020, Emperor of Ice Cream have embarked on a chapter few anticipated would be written. Their debut record's first anniversary is marked by a second pressing on vinyl and CD. Entering the official Irish album charts at number 35, the LP topped the independent charts and was among the top 20 best-selling Irish releases of 2020.

"It's a strange task, to make music with people you haven't been in the same room as for over two decades, but the challenge was a welcome one. Overseen by Graham from his New York abode, the drums were beautifully recorded in Amsterdam at IJland Studios by Remko Schouten, who has previously worked with Pavement, Stephen Malkamus & The Jicks and Devendra Bernhardt," says John Haggis.

"Assembling parts from home studios in Cork and Waterford, the final touches, edits and mixes were completed in NY. It's an unusual way of doing things, but with the year that world has experienced collectively, not an uncommon one these days, unfortunately."

Garnering a new legion of supporters around the globe, renewed demand for the band's back catalogue resulted in the release of a compilation album of their three early Sony-backed EPs ('Overflow', 'William' and 'Know Me'), having sold out in the pre-digital 90’s. Reaching number 21 in the official album charts, the album also rose to number 3 in the independent charts. While the limited-edition physical copies were sold out on release day, it is still available as a digital download.

'Weather Vane' is out now on Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where the second pressing of 'No Sound Ever Dies' LP is also available.

Dublin's Cat Dowling announces new single 'All That I Can Do', releases 'Animals' album digitally

"Cat Dowling’s vocals, melodicism and pop sensibility are brilliant... introspective and heartfelt... passionate and liberating" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

“”An unforgettable and soothing voice and powerful delivery... easy to see why Dowling is indeed one of the artists “making it” abroad" ~ The Spill Magazine

“The strongest collection of her career. She has exceeded expectations with an LP throbbing with anger and ennui” ~ Irish Times

"A total submersion in love, pain and everything in between .On a par with PJ Harvey and Patti Smith" (Album of the year) ~ Irish Independent

“It's her incredible vocals that resonate. When mercurial, she is reminiscent of the gutsy Karen O. When the pace slows, the respectful tone evokes Kristin Hersh” ~ Sunday Times

“An artist with a lot to say and plenty of bewitching ways to say it. Excellent” ~ RTE

“Truly a talent we can now believe in” ~ Mail on Sunday

Dublin-based indie pop artist Cat Dowling will release 'All The I Can Do' on February 11, the fourth single offering from her recently released ‘Animals’via Forever In Financial Arrears Records (FIFA Records)

While a dance song, ‘All That I Can Do’ is also an intimate declaration of love. Cat Dowling notes, “All that I can do is give you my love” the songs opening line captures the meaning of this song. “Love is the greatest we can offer anyone and that includes ourselves”.

On Thursday, February 3, Cat will also be playing a very special show at Whelan’s main room in Dublin. Her special guests that night will be FIFA label mates One Morning in August. On sale now, tickets can be obtained here.

The new 11-track long-player was produced by Gerry Horan with Dowling as co-producer, and mixed by Ger Mcdonnell (The Cure, U2, Van Morrison, Martha Wainwright, Shane McGowan, Sinead O'Connor), This album was partially recorded at Crossroads Studio in her native Kilkenny with support from Ireland's Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.

Lauded as one of the most wonderful and evocative vocalists in Irish contemporary music, Dowling's beautifully dark pop songs and husky, achingly intimate vocals will grip you from the outset. The former Babelfish and Alphastates frontwoman creates well-crafted songs that inspire.

"I wrote Animals during a busy period of my life when to find those rare moments to write music meant I had to be a thief elsewhere. But it was these stolen moments that gave me oxygen and a beautiful almost supernatural energy," says Cat Dowling.

Dowling also presents a stunning video for the title track ‘Animals’, created by Irish artist, illustrator and animator Marc Corrigan, who has worked with such artists as Lil Kim, The Futureheads, I’m from Barcelona, Dr. Octagon, The Academic and Ham Sandwich. This is a song of movement, sensuality, wildness, love and freedom. A song about that beautiful part inside the human make-up that can't ever and should never be tamed.

"Animals’ is a wild song. It never stops moving. When I first heard it I could picture the ending straight away – a constant flow of wild animals morphing and twisting into each other. Once I knew that, I just had to build up to it, set up a surreal morphing world. The imagery had to move constantly to keep pace with the music. It had to suggest animal instincts in a beautiful way. It had to be a constant high energy piece that never let up and built to a crescendo. So I just kept drawing,” says Marc Corrigan.

Earlier, Dowling released the singles 'Freedom', a lush slice of soulful pop perfection with video by Alba Lahoz, featuring her three free-spirited children doing their thing on the beach. The video for the preceding single, ‘Trouble’, was created by BAFTA award-winning director Fergal Costello, recalling a dark, comedic and violent tale set outside of 1981 Belfast.

In 2013, Dowling debuted with ‘The Believer’ LP, ranked in numerous ‘Best of Year’ music polls, including The Sunday Times. The title track featured in the second series of ‘Banshee’, produced by Alan Ball (Six Feet Under, American Beauty, True Blood) and the ‘Witches of East End’ TV series, featuring Julia Ormond. The song ‘Somebody Else’ was also used in ‘My name is Emily’. Cat has also lent vocals on many collaborative projects, including for ABC’s ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ with Emmy-winning actress Viola Davis.

FIFA Records is a steadily expanding label, who have continuously worked with exciting new Irish talent (Fight Like Apes, One Morning in August, Klubber Lang, Hope is Noise, Dae Kim, Lorraine Nash), as well as releasing material from more established names on the Irish indie scene, such as The Frank & Walters, Emperor of Ice Cream, August Wells, Power of Dreams and Whipping Boy.

Currently available on CD (the limited-edition cassette has sold out), as of January 28, the 'Animals' LP will be released digitally and available via Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

RAGE Release Lyric Video for New Single "The Age Of Reason" (Zardonic Remix)

RAGE are one of the real iconic metal bands. With an ongoing career of almost 40 years, the band has helped to shape German Heavy Metal as it is today. Now, for the first time ever, the band has collaborated with a remixer.

The idea of producing a remix from a RAGE song was born at a big metal festival in Japan some years ago when they met Federico Agreda Alvarez – better known as ZARDONIC, an internationally renowned DJ and remixer who's famous for his work with Bullet For My Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Syndicate, just to name a few.

The result is a pumping new version of the RAGE song “The Age Of Reason” RAGEas you have never heard it before!

Watch the video for "The Age Of Reason" (Zardonic Remix) below.

The original version of "The Age Of Reason" can be found on the band's latest studio album, 'Resurrection Day', which was released on September 17th, 2021 through SPV/Steamhammer.

John Lodge’s New Live Album ‘The Royal Affair and After’ — Now Available on Limited Edition 180g Blue Vinyl

John Lodge - renowned bass player, songwriter and vocalist of The Moody Blues, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee - today releases his critically acclaimed new live album, ‘The Royal Affair and After’ on aptly coloured limited edition 180g blue vinyl, with the 180g black vinyl due for release on 11th February.

Released on CD and all digital and streaming platforms on 14th January, this spectacular 10-track album includes brand-new, live recordings of all John’s Moody Blues hits, along with special tributes to all his bandmates: Graeme Edge, Justin Hayward, Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas, including a very special recording of ‘Late Lament’ by Graeme Edge.

The album has already received critical acclaim and rave reviews. Three videos have been released on YouTube to accompany the album: ‘Ride My See-Saw’, ‘Gemini Dream’, and the latest, for ‘Isn’t Life Strange’, was premiered this week in Prog Magazine.

The album was recorded live in Las Vegas on ‘The Royal Affair Tour’, in the Summer of 2019, with additional tracks recorded during John’s subsequent USA dates. The carefully curated set and album track list includes hits such as ‘I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band)’, ‘Ride My See-saw’, ‘Isn’t Life Strange’, ‘Steppin’ in a Slide Zone’, and ‘Gemini Dream’. John has woven these tracks together with special tributes to his bandmates from The Moody Blues.

“I’m absolutely delighted by the incredible reaction to the album,” says John, “it truly is ’the soundtrack of my life’… as I always say to the fans: thank you for Keeping the Faith, but this time they truly have. It also makes me so very happy that Graeme did his special performance of ‘Late Lament’ for the album, he will be deeply missed, but always stay with us in our hearts and on this album. I’m also thankful to Jon Davison from YES who is a great friend, but also performs the vocals on ‘Nights’ so beautifully, honouring this iconic song. I can’t wait to see everyone back on the road — I’ve missed being just a singer in a rock and roll band!”

John and his 10,000 Light Years Band capture the essence, energy, and messages of these Moody Blues songs, performing them with the verve and musicianship the band were famed for, whilst bringing a truly modern feel to these classic songs. John’s mission statement is, after all, “I want to keep all the Moody Blues music alive!”

And that he will with this album and its carefully chosen tracks. In the words of Folk and Tumble “’The Royal Affair And After’ is a stunning live album from John Lodge”

Powerplay Magazine who awarded the album 9/10 say “Performed in Las Vegas on The Royal Affair Tour, it's clear that those present were treated to something very special… We’re left more than satisfied by a fabulous selection of live favourites which act as a timely reminder of why The Moody Blues remain one of our finest treasures.”

Sonic Perspectives agree “These fine musicians lay the groundwork to allow Lodge to shine on top with his vocals, bass and most importantly – charisma – which conveys his sustaining love for the material.”

“In summary,” RockMusicStar reflect, “The Royal Affair and After’ record is a must have for any music lover that is appreciative of well-crafted songs, classic rock and electrifying live performances. John Lodge and band bring back the magic of the Moody Blues with a record that is both very satisfying to not only to long-time fans, but also the younger newer fans. The music of the Moody Blues may be decades old, but Lodge and band give the Moody Blues’ masterpieces a fresh coat of sonic paint.”

The ‘Royal Affair and After’ is out now on CD, digital download, all streaming services, and limited-edition 180g blue vinyl. The black vinyl will be released on 11th February 2022. You can catch John and his 10,000 Light Years Band on tour in the USA in March, performing all these songs and more! See John’s website for details.

About BASTARD:

Spawning from the ashes of Harkonin in 2010, members Jason Barron and Scott Fogelbach carried on with their newest whiskey-and-satan-fueled blackened thrash outfit, BASTARD. In 2012 the band released their first demos recorded by former-Harkonin guitarist, Matt Coyle. Following up in 2015 BASTARD recorded a 5 song covers EP entitled “Alcoholocaust” and shortly after recorded their first full-length album “Hades Command” with Encapsulated Studios engineer, Gabe Usery. Going through multiple lineup changes between 2015-2019 the band finalized a steady crew comprising of local shredders Jason Asberry of STORMRULER and Tim Kutterer of Lightning Wolf. BASTARD has since written a new record entitled “ROTTEN BLOOD” once again recorded by Gabe Usery at Encapsulated Studios filled with devilish riffs and a blackened thrash assault that heralds to the hounds of hell. Blending the classic sound of traditional Heavy Metal with the sounds of the blackened European thrash of the 80s & 90s, BASTARD is taking absolutely no prisoners with this release.

For Fans Of: Motorhead, Venom, Nifilheim, Protector, Impaled Nazarene, Bathory

Former MEGADETH Members Unite to Honor the Legacy of Drummer GAR SAMUELSON

Bassist David Ellefson and guitarist Chris Poland have come together to record one final song posthumously with their friend and former MEGADETH drummer Gar Samuelson. The new track "The Raven" is the latest single from Fatal Opera, part of a new twelve-song collection of demo material compiled as the group’s final release, entitled FATAL OPERA 3, out now on Combat Records ®.

You can view the lyric video for "The Raven" below:

FATAL OPERA 3 can be streamed here:

https://open.spotify.com/album/4jOX9voVjVxg6PNPTPda7G

FATAL OPERA: Following his departure from Megadeth in 1987, Gar Samuelson assembled his new band Fatal Opera, along with his brother Stew on guitar. Gar went on to produce the group’s debut album in 1994, which also featured Dave Inman on vocals, Travis Karcher on bass and Billy Brehme on guitar. The group’s second album Eleventh Hour was released in 1997 and introduced Andy Freeman on vocals, reaching top 10 on European charts while the group continued building a loyal fan base touring across the USA that year. Sadly, in1999 Gar became ill and passed away, at which point the group disbanded.

Then, in 2018 Andy and Stew set out to remix the Eleventh Hour LP and in the process discovered a collection of demos with Gar which were intended to become the band’s third album before his passing. Although the demo tapes were damaged after many years of neglect, Freeman labored to revive the tracks with some songs lost forever. However, he was able to complete 12 tracks, inviting Ellefson & Poland to participate on "The Raven" as a way to conclude the legacy of Gar and Fatal Opera.

Chris Poland recalls, “Back in the day, long before Megadeth, Gar and his brother Stew were the heart and soul of a heavy instrumental jazz/rock project called THE NEW YORKERS. I played guitar with them and Robbie “Pag” Pagliari played fretless bass. It was everything we could do just to keep up! Stew’s right hand was a machine. Flawless. And Gar was right there with him always pushing things to the next level. And again, these two brothers were the heart and soul of Fatal Opera. It was a privilege to be a part of this release, and playing on ‘The Raven’ with David Ellefson made it that much more special. Gar was a true artist. Be it his amazing drumming, his painting or his wood sculpture pipe (he made by hand). Gar was one of a kind. And here Gar, Stew and crew push the limits of experimental metal. These songs are complex yet accessible. Music with a dark side that draws you into their world and keeps you wondering 'what’s next!'” Chris Poland also added additional guitar work to the track "Mask of Time".

David Ellefson adds,“This is a really cool moment for Chris and me to musically reunite with our friend Gar, now almost 35 years after our last studio session together, which was the 1987 re-recording of 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin’ for the Dudes movie soundtrack, compiled by director Penelope Spheeris. Gar was always such a free spirit with his music, no click tracks or digital reinvention for him. And, he seldom played the same thing twice, quite unusual for heavy metal! He just went for it with real gusto and that became the hallmark of his sound."

He continues, "When I was laying down the bass track for 'The Raven' it reminded me once again of Gar’s spontaneity in the studio, as if we were recording live in the same room together. I’m super happy these tracks were brought to life so we could have one last go around with Gar behind the kit. It’s a reminder that he truly was one of the greats!”

Combat Records ® is the label which was home to many iconic thrash & metal albums in the 1980s & 90s and was relaunched by Ellefson & Co. in 2017. It was also home to Gar Samuelson’sfirst full length record with Megadeth, their eponymous debut Killing is My Business…and Business is Good (1985). Ellefson states, “As a label, we are proud to release these final tracks from Gar. He was a masterful drummer who made an incredible impact on fans and musicians everywhere. I think it's appropriate that Combat would be home to his first and now final recordings.”

Fatal Opera 3 is available now across all digital outlets.

Fatal Opera 3 Line-up:
Andy Freeman – Vocals, Keyboard, Guitar
Stew Samuelson – Guitar
Billy Brehme – Guitar
Travis Karcher – Bass
Gar Samuelson – Drums

FAMYNE Announce New Album 'The Ground Below', Release New Single + Music Video "For My Sins"

UK trailblazers FAMYNE drag Doom kicking and screaming into the 21st century on their epic new album 'The Ground Below'. The heart-rending new album from these melancholic game-changers will see a May 13th, 2022 release via Svart Records. In support of the announcement, Famyne has released the first single from the album, titled "For My Sins". Check out the music video for the new track below!

Hailing from the heart of the garden of England, Canterbury gloom-fathers Famyne slug and soar their way up and out from the underground, shaking off the shackles of genre constraints on their new album 'The Ground Below'. Since their inception in 2014, Famyne have been rapidly building an incendiary reputation for themselves with an epic universe all of their own, magnetizing more souls into the orbit of their unique expansion of masterful Doom metal. From their self-titled EP in 2015 and earning a place at Bloodstock Open Air 2016, to their breakout self-titled full-length in 2018, Famyne have been constantly turning heads as a promising new light in the darkness.

Pre-Order 'The Ground Below'

'The Ground Below' is a brave and inimitable statement that re-draws a line in the sands of Metal tradition. Famyne boldly marches over the limits, re-riffing the rules, washing listeners in pristine waves of hypnotic melody on 8 tablets of stone-carved ageless songs that “The Ground Below” lays on the altar. Tracks like For My Sins and Babylon conjure paragon English Doom with a long line of lineage like country-mates Warning, Paradise Lost, Pagan Altar, and Cathedral to songs like A Submarine where warm oceans of sweeping guitars and wide-screen desperate euphony bring to mind

genre-changing pioneers like Anathema and Porcupine Tree.

Mind-blowing Lead vocalist Tom Vane’s omnipotent vocals deliver the shivers in dynamite doses, unearthing perfect hair-raising emotions that are at once timeless and freshly captivating. It is an understatement to acknowledge how exceptionally unforgettable Famyne’s distinct voice is. The guitars of Martin Emmons and Tom Ross range from an Iommi masterclass to Åkerfeldt progression in a heartbeat, delivering breath-taking riff-mountains that are sumptuously original and catchy in both style and opulent panache. It

is Famyne’s canny confidence to re-mold traditional Doom metal artistry with their own wave of emotive progression that makes “The Ground Below” a brilliant restoration of the craft, reminding us how crushing and poignant innovative Doom Metal can be if done with passion. Fans of everything from Opeth, Katatonia to Soundgarden and all the trad legends of Sabbath, St Vitus, and Solitude Aeturnus will be suitably wowed in Famyne’s wake. “The Ground Below” is a modern classic, reverential but so supremely powerful that Famyne have securely carved their own place on the monoliths of the future.

TWIN TEMPLE Release “Let’s Have A Satanic Orgy” + Currently On U.S. Tour With GHOST & VOLBEAT

The crossroads, the intersection, the place where the devil makes her deals; it’s there that the fusion of two seemingly divergent forms of magic can erupt into the genesis of something never before witnessed, and it was there that TWIN TEMPLE cast a spell that unleashed a fascinating sonic creature from the depths.

Today the Satanic Doo-Wop duo offers fans a new single, “Let’s Have A Satanic Orgy”. The release includes a flip cover in Spanish entitled "Tengamos La Orgía Satánica" with the lyrics poetically re-worked to fit the beauty of the language.

Their newest single also marks a departure from TWIN TEMPLE’s previous ways of working. “Unlike the 24-hour live session with the band,” explains Zachary, “this time we played every instrument ourselves (other than the saxophone) as well as produced, engineered and mixed the record ourselves. We still kept everything analog and one take to give it a raw feel, but it was just the two of us in the studio together doing everything. It allowed us to expand the sounds and gave us the freedom to add more instrumentation. We always like to stir the cauldron and change things up, and we were excited about challenging ourselves in this evil new way.”

TWIN TEMPLE Alexandra comments, “We love Latin music. It’s an integral part of early Doo-Wop and a huge influence on us. This latest single is us continuing to explore that concept and sound in our own blasphemous way, of course. We chose to have a flip cover for the 7” as opposed to having an A-Side and B-Side so that the Spanish and English versions are equal. They’ll be released simultaneously as well, to reflect that equality.

Purchase/listen to "Let’s Have A Satanic Orgy/”Tengamos La Orgía Satánica" here: https://bfan.link/TwinTempleLHASO

TWIN TEMPLE is bringing their black mass to arenas across the world on two of their biggest tours to date. Currently, the duo is with GHOST and VOLBEAT on their tour across America, and in April 2022, they will again join GHOST on their European arena tour with UNCLE ACID & THE DEADBEATS. TWIN TEMPLE will also return to Europe for a run of summer festival dates, including Download, Hellfest, and Graspop (www.twintemple.com/shows).

3/01/2022 Footprint Center - Phoenix, AZ United States
3/03/2022 Honda Center - Anaheim, CA

Deviating from the standard path calls for a soundtrack of rebellious music, that which TWIN TEMPLE brilliantly procures with hypnotizing and illustrious melodies. Much like their mood-driven, defiant inspirations, Alexandra concludes that “this [music] is about change; tearing down the old guard, and shaking up the status quo, which to us, is Satanic as fuck.” The hellish flames of the temple can be seen burning bright into 2022, with plenty of further news to come.
