Following the enormous success of their 2021 co-headline US tour, metal titans MEGADETHand LAMB OF GOD have today announced the second US run of their aptly named METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR. Joining them will be special guests TRIVIUM and IN FLAMES. Tickets for the second leg of THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR, produced by Live Nation, will go on general sale at 10am local time on Friday, January 14th from MetalTourOfTheYear.com.

THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR was originally announced and planned for 2020 but was halted by the pandemic. Fans waited patiently for touring to return and in the summer of 2021 were granted their wish. THE METAL TOUR OF THE YEAR was one of the first national amphitheater tours to hit the road in 2021 and saw co-headliners MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD hit 29 cities across North America with special guests TRIVIUM and HATEBREED, who stepped in to replace IN FLAMES who couldn’t join the tour due to travel restrictions. The tour was met with enormous acclaim, truly living up to its name and playing to a whopping 172,000 metal fans in the process.

It was over 30 years ago that Dave Mustaine founded MEGADETH, in the process pioneering the sound that would become known the world over as thrash metal. And from the very beginning, the band proved to be the most lethal and audacious unit on the heavy music scene, pushing thrash to the limits of musical ferocity and instrumental virtuosity on early efforts like their 1985 debut, Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good! and 1986’s seminal Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?.

MEGADETH have taken their place as one of metal’s most influential and respected acts—not to mention among its most successful. They have gone on to sell more than 38 million albums worldwide, earning numerous accolades including a 2017 GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance” for the title track “Dystopia,” 12 GRAMMY® nominations, and scoring five consecutive platinum albums. LAMB OF GOD propelled heavy metal into the new millennium two decades ago with the prophetically titled New American Gospel. They followed with 2003’s As the Palaces Burn, which made the Rolling Stone list of the Top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time. Ashes of the Wake, released in 2004, was the first LAMB OF GOD album to be certified gold by the RIAA, as was 2006’s Sacrament, which also made a Top 10 Billboard 200 chart debut. In 2009, LAMB OF GOD released Wrath, their first with Josh Wilbur as producer, and earned the number one album spot on Billboard’s Hard Rock, Rock, and Tastemaker charts, with a number two position on the Billboard 200.

Those number one positions were repeated with 2012’s Resolution, which swung effortlessly between thrash, traditional metal, sludgy doom, with flashes of crust punk swagger and bravado. LAMB OF GOD’s last album, VII: Sturm und Drang (2015) made its debut on the Billboard 200 at number three and finished number 2 in the world charts, reaching Top 5 in five countries and six additional Top 15 positions. The single “512” was nominated for a GRAMMY® Award for “Best Metal Performance”, the band’s fifth nomination.

In 2020 LAMB OF GOD released their critically acclaimed self-titled opus, the band's best work to date, featuring new drummer Art Cruz, LAMB OF GOD is re-energized and unrelenting, ready to lay claim to the metal throne.

TRIVIUM’s tenth album In The Court Of The Dragon arrived in 2021. The band and album have been praised by and featured in mainstream outlets like The New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Billboard, TechCrunch, and Kotaku, as well as Guitar World, Revolver, Alternative Press, and more. They released the now-canonical album Ascendancy in 2005. It was recognized as KERRANG!'s "Album of the Year," achieved a gold certification in the UK, and eclipsed sales of 500,000 worldwide. Nine years after the release of In Darkness, German dark metal frontrunners AGATHODAIMON set the stage for their long-awaited comeback – the bittersweet seventh studio album, The Seven, out March 18, 2022 via Napalm Records. AGATHODAIMON’s exceptional new strike maintains the old-school spirit of its predecessor, but can’t be pigeonholed due to its dynamic and widespread musical styles, evoking a gloomy atmosphere fueled by sharp growls, epic clear vocals and a gripping, exceptional sonic universe.

Formed in 1995 and entering the scene with their debut, Blacken the Angel, in 1998, bandleader Sathonys was temporarily forced to put AGATHODAIMON on hold in 2014 due to private circumstances. But the irrevocable fire of the band and their fans never went out, seeking a reawakening of this sonic, seething beast.

Now, the gates of darkness have opened once again with the massive first single “Ain’t Death Grand” as a mouth-watering harbinger, alongside a hard-hitting music video. AGATHODAIMON's massive new outburst, The Seven, reveals extreme soundscapes amid a captivating concoction of evil, provoking, cutting dark metal and heroic symphonic black metal in the style of bands like Cradle of Filth and Carach Angren, but with their unique and very own multifaceted take. Thematically, as hinted by the album’s title, the full-length is centered around the momentous and symbolically powerful number seven and the seven deadly sins - sloth, greed, lust, gluttony, pride, wrath, envy - on ten tracks total, all addressed with religious topics that contrast with human beings and its original nature.

Diving into this exciting construct with opener “La Haine”, the track lures the listener into the freezing, dark world of AGATHODAIMON, produced by long-time companion Kristian “Kohle” Bonifer (Aborted, Powerwolf, Hämatom amongst others), by building up a dense wall of thunderous sound, accented by a multifaceted vocal interpretation. Songs like raging “Wolf Within” and haunting “In my Dreams” roam between dense soundscapes, crushing instrumentals and intense lyricism. “Kyrie / Gloria” on the other hand stomps more towards heavy doom metal, calling for a black mass with creeping darkness and desperate screams turning into harsh black metal parts, all topped by the guest appearance of Benightedfrontman Julien Truchan. SYLVAINE Premieres New Song "Mono No Aware"

Norwegian multi-instrumentalist SYLVAINE will be releasing her fourth studio album, 'Nova,' on March 4, 2021! The singer/songwriter has teamed up with Metal Injection to premiere her devastating new single, "Mono No Aware." The song can be found along with a visualizer below.

SYLVAINE comments on the track: "The moment when you appreciate the beauty of our human existence and what lies within it being completely transient, yet feeling overcome by sadness for the exact same reason, that is 'Mono No Aware.' Every Sylvaine record holds one song title that can't be directly translated into English, and this time I felt the melancholy and depth of the Japanese saying 'mono no aware' fit perfectly with the emotions that went into creating this record. Existing somewhere between nostalgia, a yearning for things lost and past times and a respect for the ephemeral nature of things, 'Mono No Aware' basically deals with how hard it is to accept that the only constant in our existence is change. Being one of the heaviest tracks I wrote to date, 'Mono No Aware' is filled with intensity in every way, pushing the borders of light and dark even further. This song also holds some of my favorite lyrics of the album; 'You need to fade away, so I can truly see you. Show me the meaning of being alive - Fading, I see you now.'"

To speak to Sylvaine, the one-woman multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, and composer born Kathrine Shepard, is to speak to some spirit that exists beyond the veil of convention and stereotypes. This is not a woman playing to the vogue dark melodic folklorist trope that has become so prevalent in the metal scene but rather, this is a woman who is a serious and classically trained composer and arranger whose songs, that originate on unplugged electric guitars in lavender and black bedrooms, end up exploding against the unlimited conventions of what modern music can accomplish. 

For some time, Kathrine Shepard has been seen as the petite pixie of the Norwegian black gaze scene but her small eleven features and lightheartedness belie the woman warrior behind Nova, her complex and personal fourth release. Following her 2018 Atoms Aligned Coming Undone release, Sylvaine (a play on the name of one of her beloved French poets, Paul Verlaine) gives us Nova, an album that is both a musical and personal reawakening of a singer/composer finding her way in this world.  

The Lord of the Rings type choir arrangement heralds in the opening of her latest release as we the entranced listeners follow her to the realm of Lothlorien. The creation of this ambitious release began in 2019, before the world changed before all of our eyes. Experiencing a personal loss in a time the world was suffering a collective loss, Sylvaine composed on her guitar and wrote in her notebooks, eventually leading her into the small rooms of Drudenhaus in early 2021. Sequestered away in the countryside of France, the Norwegian native and her musical cohorts would all contract Covid. Asthmatic since birth, our heroine isolated herself in a small room to score out the different soprano and alto melodies of an actual choir to make her vision for the opening track “Nova,” come to life. Sung in an imagined language, the syllables of NO-VA continued to emerge, suggesting to the singer something linguistically symbolic and important. 

“I’ve been wanting to write a choir piece since my 'Wistful' days,” she says, “Just a purely vocal piece. I love harmonies and the most personal instrument you have is yourself, your voice. I wanted to really show who I am this time around.” 

Naked on the cover, which may raise some eyebrows, Sylvaine insists to her fans that this is a symbol of her own vulnerability and personal rebirth that transpired over these years of creating Nova. “Nova" in terms of language is connected to words such as nuova (Italian) or nueva (Spanish), meaning ‘new’ and speaks to a rebirth, to loss, the temporality of life, grieving as nothing lasting forever, but looking forward as new doors are forever opening.  

Album tracks “Mono No Aware” and “Fortapt” are compositions in the 10-minute range, showing the progressive skills of the multi-instrumentalist’s musical mastery and magic. Taking the loud and quiet back-and-forth of the ‘90s a step farther, she manages to haunt every note with primal sincerity. “Fortapt” is a particularly unique track, paying homage to Sylvaine’s Norwegian roots. And while critics may want to pin a song like “Nowhere, Still Somewhere” in the shoegaze or dreampop category, her mysterious resonance adds something to the composition that makes Sylvaine’s work defy categorization.  

Much like Joan of Arc, Sylvaine is not a one-woman army without her legionaries. Instead of enlisting members of the folk metal glitterati, she has been a bit more selective about her surprise guests on her album, choosing Scottish violinist Lambert Segura of SAOR and cellist Nostarion aka Patrik Urban, whom she met while performing a very special acoustic show in Belgium in 2019. For Sylvaine, it felt emotionally appropriate to weave classically trained instrumentalists into her work, demonstrated on the last track on the album, "Everything Must Come to an End." 

Unlike so many of the pixie dream girls haunting the American metal landscape right now, Sylvaine sings but also screams from the very depths. There is absolutely no one in the metal game right now who can match her vocal range, which traverses from the elvish sounds of Enya and Lisa Gerard to the black metal Ericthro screeches of her kvlt counterparts of the land of ice and snow. 

In the U.S., we have a tendency to clarify bedroom pop as music that is composed in the feminine space of one’s bedroom confines. Although orchestral and incredibly composed, Sylvaine does not shy away from admitting her songs always start bare bones—almost all of her compositions begin with an unplugged electric guitar. “A melody and a chord progression should be able to stand on its own without any effects whatsoever. The song will go on to manifest itself in different ways but that main guitar part has to be solid enough to emotionally work just by itself, “ she says.  

But to this lover of Verlaine and the French Romantic poets (as well as a diehard Type O Negative fan), the written word is still paramount to her heart. After all, she explains, “Music is an attempt to avoid the words we can’t always express in life.”

In a society where new bands pop up every day, Silent Theory is here to set a new standard. The band found success with their single, "Fragile Minds," released June 2016, charting at #97 for Media Base Active-Rock and #29 for Under the Radar charts. It has since surpassed 17 million video views on YouTube and continues to grow rapidly. Following this success in June 2018, through Loudwire, the band released their second single off of the album, Delusions, "Watch Me Burn." The single charted at #67 on the Media Base Active-Rockcharts. Silent Theory is made up of brothers Mitch, Scott, and George Swanger, as well as Robert James and Dakota Elliot Tyler. They are currently located in Moscow, Idaho, but finding worldwide success. As of 2021, they signed with Paul Crosby Management(founding member of Saliva), Dynamic Talent International, and released their latest album, Hunt or Be Hunted. JAMES GUNN TAPS NASHVILLE P***Y FOR ‘PEACEMAKER’ PREMIERE EPISODE ON HBOMAX

When director James Gunn was looking for a truly rocking and raunchy song to include as part of the upcoming ‘Peacemaker’ show on HBOMAX (starring WWE wrestler John Cena as the role of Christopher Smith/Peacemaker), he couldn’t have made a better selection than the Nashville Pussy classic, “Come On Come On.”

It appears that Gunn is a fan of The Pussy, in a Twitter exchange between mutual friend actor Earl W. Brown (‘Deadwood,’ ‘Something About Mary’), Gunn admitted to personally choosing the Grammy-nominated Nashville Pussy and song “Come On Come On” for the ‘Peacemaker’ series, and texted “It has great placement in the first episode.”

The first episode, entitled ‘A Whole New Whirled,’ premieres on Thursday, January 13, 2022, and the song (which was originally included on the band’s 2005 album, ‘Get Some!’) will also be included as part of the show’s official Spotify playlist this week.

“We were sitting at the house on a Friday night and Faith started tossing out songs for me to sing and she happened to be filming it,” Dover elaborates. “It’s now one of our favorite things to do, toss out songs we love from artists we admire and see how we can mash them up with the music I've been creating.”

About Dalton Dover
Twenty-three-year-old Dalton Dover first started singing at church as a kid, winning his fifth-grade school talent show performing Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” In that moment Dover’s love of performing was born. By the age of 16 he had picked up a guitar and started teaching himself to play, yet it was his grandfather who turned him on to country music and artists such as Keith Whitley, Rhett Akins, Joe Diffie and Steve Wariner. Enamored with the honesty and storytelling found in country music, Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes” was the first song Dover taught himself to play on guitar. Performances at local bars soon followed along with sharing covers of some of his favorite songs on TikTok. It was there he caught the ear of producer Matt McV and A&R Veteran and founder of Droptine Recordings, Jim Catino, who quickly signed Dover.

Married to his high school sweetheart, Faith, the two have lived in the same rural Georgia small town, population 1,200, all their lives, important for the Dovers to give their two young children, Taylon and Alyiah, the same idyllic childhood they had growing up — the life one finds in a small town. London-based synthpop artist Rodney Cromwell has released his new 'Memory Box' EP, a 4-track offering that includes the original version of 'Memory Box', plus the ambient track 'Memory Stops', plus two strikingly different remixes. This is the first music Cromwell has released in 2 1/2 years.

This song about our perceptions of reality and the certainty of our memories lends to the question "How do we believe anything in a world where truth and honesty are of so little worth?"

Düsseldorf / Shanghai krautrock band MOOD TAEG offer a discordant re-interpretation reminiscent of the avant-pop of Stereolab or the European coldwave of Ladytron. The second mix, by Retrosynth Records artist AUW, is slice of dark synthwave, pitched somewhere between Kavinsky and Pye Corner Audio.

Rodney Cromwell is the nom de plume of Adam Cresswell, founding member of 1990s-2000s indie-folktronica band Saloon (who had four entries in John Peel’s Festive 50, recorded three Peel Sessions and had top 10 album of the year in The Sunday Times) and one half of electronic two-piece Arthur & Martha (praised by the likes of NME, The Guardian and Artrocker).

With minimal percussion, Rodney Cromwell's lyrics float over a bed of vintage synthesizers and effected guitar. Shunning a clean '80s synth sound, the song is almost psychedelic in outlook, reminiscent of the minimal synth of acts such as Broadcast, Pram or Silver Apples. The video, an atmospheric montage of heavily effected and distorted shots of rural Britain, was inspired by film auteurs such as Stan Brakhage and Chris Marker.

Writing and recording in his home studio in Catford, South London, Cromwell employs an old-school approach using predominantly vintage hardware. Mixed and co-produced by Richard Bennett at Acme Hall Studios (New York) and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Goldfrapp, Paul Weller, Pixies, The Alarm), Martin J Langthorne, who also designed the album artwork, contributes guitar.

"It was one of the first songs written for the new album. At the time I was still disorientated from illness. I turned on the TV and there was Boris Johnson’s lackey, Dominic Cummings, spinning some yarn. In my post-fever state he came across like Wormtongue from Tolkein, talking about riverbanks, woods and castles while literally sitting in a perfumed rose garden like in Alice in Wonderland. I wouldn’t say that influenced me directly, but certainly my own state of brain-fog sent my writing off in a more heady and fantastical direction," explains Adam Cromwell.

"I wanted the song to have the feel of a marching clockwork toy, so the beat is really simple and metronomic with the synths doing the talking by enveloping the song."

On February 21, Rodney Cromwell will release the full-length ‘Memory Box' album, a mixture of electronic hauntological excursions, dreampop and European coldwave. Using analogue synths, drum machines with parts played almost entirely live (with minimal computer sequencing) and vocals recorded without autotune, this record conjures up an organic, albeit dream-like, world that is inspired as much by Alice in Wonderland, Franz Kafka and Anna Kavan as it is by its sonic influences such as Kraftwerk, The Cure and Stereolab. The sonic pallet of 'Memory Box' is both reassuringly familiar and completely distinctive.

Rodney Cromwell's debut LP 'Age of Anxiety' (2015) and 'Rodney's English Disco' EP (2018) have garnered Rodney Cromwell features in Electronic Sound Magazine, NME, Huffington Post, Paste, Record Collector, BBC6 Music and national RNE3 in Spain, for whom he also recorded a live session. The debut album featured in scores of Best of Lists including Electronic Sound Magazine and he was named 'Most Promising New Act' by The Electricity Club. He has appeared on compilations alongside Cavern of Anti-Matter, John Foxx, Devo, OMD, Katy Perry and other notable artists.

Rodney will be playing a handful of live dates to support the album's release. His debut festival appearance at Indietracks 2015, described as 'a spiritual experience", led to further festival appearances in the UK and in Spain, in addition to supporting artists such as Pram, Marsheaux, Death & Vanilla, Rowetta and Steve Davis. In 2020, he also performed as part of Damo Suzuki's band.

The 'Memory Box' EP is out now digitally via Happy Robots Records with distribution by Cargo Records. In mid-December, Cromwell also released 'Get Me To Prague' on 7" vinyl, which sold out in just a day. London-based label Happy Robots Records has announced the forthcoming release of the sophomore album 'Music for Underwater Supermarkets' by Brooklyn-based electronic artist Roman Angelos. This ten-track collection paints a sonic dreamscape where the mundane act of grocery shopping meets the future.

A dreamy aquatic meditation that is an ode to joyous childhood memories, this record was recorded live to tape, all together in one room, with most of the tracks being first takes.

Ahead of this, Roman Angelos presents the lead track 'Swimming Through The Aisles', a snaking composition in 7/4 that propels the listener through water like a diver looking for signs of life in the deep. A dark combination of 'Kind of Blue' and 50s exotica, this mysterious tune is reminiscent of modular jazz with some wriggling synths sprinkled on top.

Roman Angelos is the solo project of producer Rich Bennett, developed as a vehicle for Rich to explore his obsession with library recordings of the 60's and 70s, muzak and exotica. Exotic, dreamy, and wistful, this is the sound of a jazz sextet as channeled through synths and drum machines, creating a spacey feel.

2020’s debut for Happy Robots 'Spacetronic Lunchbox' was a burst of sonic nostalgia that boasted 11 songs in 10 minutes. It gained praise from Freq, The Electricity Club, Electronic Sound, Shindig!, as well as radio play from on BBC6 Music from Cerys Matthews and Stuart Maconie’s Freak Zone, plus Bob Fisher at BBC Tees.

Beyond the world of library electronica, Rich has been involved in a diverse group of musical projects, including the newly reunited outsider/60s proto-punk group The Shaggs, dream pop outfit Mahogany, and Brazilian funk group Limoncello, in addition to production work with Stereolab's Morgane Lhote (aka Hologram Teen).

'Music for Underwater Supermarkets' continues and extends Roman's obsession with the library and soundtrack music of the past. This time, he fuses that aesthetic with childhood memories of being pushed around in shopping carts and visiting strip malls. Vibraphones chime alongside woodwinds and vintage synthesizers, creating an immersive sound that feels exotic and smooth.

"This record is very near and dear to my heart because it is filled with so many personal childhood memories. A lot of the musical ideas and vibe are drawn from aural memories I had while shopping with my parents when I was younger," says Rich Bennett.

"The underwater idea came to me while I started working on the tunes - so much of the writing seemed to have this hazy yet buoyant quality, and the idea of placing a supermarket underwater seemed to give the music both a bit of whimsy and seriousness. Which I’d say I always try and straddle".

Produced by Rich Bennett at Acme Hall Studios in Brooklyn, this album was recorded by Colin Marston (Jarboe, Sailors With Wax Wings) and mastered by Justin Colletti (Soundpool, Willie Nelson, Wynton Marsalis, Dead Leaf Echo).

As of January 12, 'Swimming Through The Aisles' will be available across online stores and streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. 'Music for Underwater Supermarkets' will be released on January 28 with distribution by Cargo Records, available digitally and on green vinyl. Limited to 200 copies, it was pressed at Deepgrooves, rated as the "greenest vinyl pressing plant in the world" due to their eco-friendly vinyl pressing policies. DANCE WITH THE DEAD is an electronic-based music duo by Justin Pointer and Tony Kim. OAK Signs to Season of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing Portuguese death doom duo OAK, featuring the guitarist of GAEREA. The band will release their sophomore full-length later this year.

OAK comments on the signing: "Back when we first started, we wanted to trace the path of a true giant. Today, following its marks carved into the ground, we have come further than we ever imagined. We came face to face with a colossus and, looking up, we now know what 'giant' really means. From now on, OAK is a Season of Mist artist and we are set to release our second album this year."

OAK churn out scintillating death/doom metal that's expansive and harrowing. 'Lone' is their debut full length and yet the songwriting is accomplished, as if this is what they were meant to be doing all along. There's nothing forced here - the music oscillates between the pensive, slow parts to the cathartic, faster ones with relative ease, almost intuitively. The texture of the music does full justice to it all, enhancing the feelings of despair, helplessness and fear.

Michael Ray Earns Fourth No. 1 Single with "Whiskey And Rain"

as Song Surpasses 100 Million On-Demand Streams

At age 8, Michael Ray’s grandfather taught him his first guitar chords. Listening nonstop to Merle Haggard and George Jones as a kid, he fell in love with intricate stories sung by legends. Determined to make his own distinct contributions to the genre, Ray made a mission of sharing his deep appreciation for traditional Country music while pushing the format forward, leading to his fourth No. 1 single “Whiskey And Rain.”

The CHAOS & CARNAGE TOUR has announced their 2022 return to the road after two previous successful runs in 2018 and 2019. Co-Headlined by deathcore titans Suicide Silence and Carnifex, the tour will also feature a selection of the very best bands from the world of modern metal with Lorna Shore, Upon A Burning Body, AngelMaker and Distant rounding out the line-up. Produced by industry visionaries Jason Malhoyt of Imperial Artist Management and JJ Cassiere of renowned booking agency 33 and West, the CHAOS & CARNAGE TOUR is now in its third year and has quickly garnered a reputation for showcasing the very best big-name, established acts from the world of extreme metal, whilst also supporting incredible new talent by providing them with a platform to play in front of larger crowds. Previous years have featured the likes of Whitechapel, Dying Fetus, Revocation, Spite, Winds of Plague, and more with most shows selling out ahead of time.

The CHAOS & CARNAGE TOUR will begin on Friday, May 6th in Sacramento, CA, the home state of both SUICIDE SILENCEand CARNIFEX and will hit a further 21 cities across the US before ending back in California for two final shows in Anaheim, CA, and finally an unforgettable night in Los Angeles, CA on June 4th.

Founded in Jacksonville, Florida in 2021, it is no secret that these lovers of good ol' fashioned Rock were inspired by the likes of Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Alice in Chains, The Black Crowes and so many more. The four-piece band plans to take the Rock N' Roll scene by storm, and to remind the people of what truly matters: the music itself.

The band is comprised of Christian Powers on vocals, Buddy Crump on lead guitar, Melanie Jo on drums (previously of Billy Gibbons and the BFGs), and Jon Ward on bass and has quickly garnered significant support from the Southeast US Rock N' Roll scene opening for national touring acts such as Blacktop Mojo. They will continue to do so as they leave crowds wanting more and more after each show. It's loud, it's dirty, and it’s down-right badass. Fortune Child is a force to be reckoned with.
