Diamante Releases New Music Video For "Unlovable" Taken From Her 'American Dream' Album (via Anti-Heroine)

Undeniable rock chanteuse DIAMANTE has released her latest single and music video for "Unlovable", taken from her sophomore album 'American Dream' (out via Anti-Heroine, DIAMANTE's self-established independent record label). She has previously shared smash hits such as fan-favorites "Ghost Myself" and "Serves You Right", the beautiful reimagination of Goo Goo Dolls classic "Iris" (featuring Breaking Benjamin), and most recently "I Love Myself For Hating You". Speaking on today's release, DIAMANTE shares:

"Unlovable is about my deepest insecurity, which is my fear that maybe I am too hard to love. Everyone at some point has been made to feel this way because it's easy to believe (after many heartaches) that you yourself are the problem. It was written in the middle of lockdown when I wasn't out on tour playing shows every night, and I was finally forced to sit with myself and feel every emotion/memory I had been suppressing... and my fear of being unlovable was definitely a haunting feeling."

Watch the music video for "Unlovable" below, and be sure to watch this space for more DIAMANTE news coming soon.

With iridescent sapphire hair, a show-stopping voice, runway-ready fashion swagger, and an empowering message, the Boston-raised and Los Angeles-based Mexican-Italian-American siren brings a new (and blue) fire to rock and alternative music.

Diamante spent her teenage years cutting her teeth at local gigs on the Sunset Strip to become the powerhouse performer she is today. A disciple of both P!nk and Guns N’ Roses who doesn’t fall into rockstar excess or even sport tattoos, she devoted every waking minute to honing a signature “hard rock sound with a modern alternative edge.” This unique and undeniable approach caught the attention of Better Noise Music who signed her in 2015. She hit the studio with super producer Howard Benson [My Chemical Romance, Halestorm, Kelly Clarkson] to record what would become her full-length debut, 'Coming In Hot'. With the release of her first album, Diamante undeniably stormed the scene in 2018 with a #1 song at rock radio (her collaboration of “Hear Me Now” with Bad Wolves), along with a top 15 song with her own single “Haunted”.

Now three years later, and after extensive touring with bands like Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Chevelle, and Shinedown… Diamante is in full force shining brighter than ever before. In 2019, Diamante reunited with Howard Benson along with Neil Sanderson of Judge & Jury as an independent artist to make her sophomore album, 'American Dream'. Diamantecapitalized on her newfound ultimate creative freedom and independence by being her own CEO throughout every facet of the album process. On working with Benson and Sanderson, Diamante praises that they were instrumental in “bringing my stories to life and pushing me to embrace my vulnerabilities”.

'American Dream' shows exponential growth from 'Coming In Hot' sonically and in its raw authenticity, proving now more than ever that Diamante’s fearlessness to bare her soul in her music is what truly sets her apart.

Britain's wit-pop champions SPRAY present 'Blurred In the Background' ahead of 'Ambiguous Poems About Death' LP

"Hammered In An Airport' is a fantastically catchy and grooving witty club anthem for those who are unable to travel, but desperately wish to... This would’ve been a right club-hopping chart-topping tune in the 90s heyday of acid house... one thing is certain – this music has sprung from two brilliant minds" ~ Big Takeover Magazine (New York)

"Sense of humour along with a talent for sharp, polished electronic pop. While the competition is quite fierce, Spray may have delivered one of the year’s finest albums" ~ The Electricity Club

"This is leftfield indie disco synthpop – with a big stick!" ~ RGM Magazine

"Smart, quirky and downright memorable" ~ The Spill Magazine

Ahead of releasing their new album 'Ambiguous Poems About Death' via Manchester's Analogue Trash label on November 26, British synthpop electro duo Spray present 'Blurred In The Background', a clever and catchy taster of this 12-track collection, following up two ever-danceable witty singles - 'Hammered In An Airport' and 'Félicette (Space Cat)'.

Spray is music-addict siblings Jenny McLaren (vocals, guitars) and Ricardo Autobahn (synths), who have managed to build an enviable following of devotees to Spray's brand of danceable and subversive indie disco pop since their 2002 debut ‘Living In Neon’ LP. They are also responsible for a smash cover of Lisa Lougheed’s 'Run With Us' (also 'The Raccoons' theme song). Their unique brand of oblique synth-pop is catchy as hell, both lyrically and musically, bringing them mainstream pop success in an alternate universe.

Spray's musical DNA traces back to The Cuban Boys, who recorded one of the best Peel Sessions ever and went head-to-head with Sir Cliff Richard in a Christmas Chart Battle. Their hit single 'Cognoscenti Vs Intelligentsia' (a.k.a. The Hamster Dance Song) sold a million copies, reached number 4 in the UK single charts, landed them on Top of the Pops and, in the words of John Peel, was “the most requested song I’ve had since God Save The Queen”. They topped the John Peel Festive 50 Charts twice.

Spray was the secret weapon behind the UK’s 2006 Eurovision hit 'Teenage Life', written and produced with Daz Sampson, with their treated vocals used on the track. Ricardo Autobahn and Sampson's dance version of 'Rhinestone Cowboy' (as Rikki and Daz) with the legendary Glen Campbell went Top-10. More recently Spray recorded music with anarchic BBC star Hacker T. Dog and Ricardo also plays keyboards with Welsh punk pop icons Helen Love.

Spray is again ready to entertain us with their new long-player - their second with Analogue Track, following 2019's 'Failure Is Inevitable'. Jenny and Ricardo have used the intervening time wisely; writing, terrorising social media, working with puppets, and a number of live shows, including August’s first post lockdown live affair in Liverpool.

“In early 2020 we bought a Behringer TD-3, one of the company's excellent Roland TB-303 knockoffs. We had an idea of putting out a quick acid house-style album in the summer, something short, spiky and electropunk. This did not come to fruition as, like many, Spray found themselves locked down in separate locations, in their case on either side of Lancashire," says Ricardo Autobahn.

"This album evolved into something a lot more elaborate as the pandemic went on. We tried not to write songs *about* the global situation because we figured everybody would be doing that, but the outside world couldn't help seeping in."

Undeterred by distance, recording and production duties were split between Spray Studio 1 (decaying, seen better days) and Spray Studio 2 (shiny, newly refurbished, sweet smelling) and the album took shape with the TD-3 employed in all the songs, somewhere.

Packed full of acerbic wit with tongue firmly in cheek when needed for maximum effect, 'Ambiguous Poems About Death' will delight fans new and old from the first listen. The long-player will be released on November 26 digitally and on CD, the latter format featuring separate blue cover artwork). It can be pre-ordered at http://snd.click/poems.

London synthpop artist Rodney Cromwell 'Memory Box' maxi-single is out November 17. Features remixes by MOOD TAEG (Düsseldorf / Shanghai) & UK synthwavers AUW

"Rodney Cromwell's music belongs to the future" ~ NME

"This music is based on our common human experience, with all its joys, quirks and misgivings. A brilliant track – thank you Rodney Cromwell. We’ll take a dish of your cool-flowing retro synth delight with pleasure" ~ THE SPILL MAGAZINE

"Yanking the mundane into the sublime. Its sweeping synths transverse a sonic landscape bridging an ancient sentiment and an almost folk instrumentation with pure hertz tone glory" ~ POST-PUNK.COM

“His new lo-fi disco laments are joyfully simple and painfully funny” ~ HUFFINGTON POST

"Makes a delightful lo-fi synthpop racket with a load of old gear and a deep appreciation of classic outfits" ~ ELECTRONIC SOUND

“A reminder of good pop tunes from a magical era” ~ LOUDER THAN WAR

On November 17, London-based synthpop artist Rodney Cromwell will release two remixes of his new 'Memory Box' single via Happy Robots Records with distribution by Cargo Records. Presented as a 4-track offering together with the original version and the ambient track ''Memory Stops', this is the first music from Cromwell in 2 1/2 years.

'Memory Box' is a song about perceptions of reality and the certainty of our memories. How do we believe anything in a world where truth and honesty are of so little worth?

The first remix is a reimagining by Düsseldorf / Shanghai krautrock band MOOD TAEG, whose discordant re-interpretation is reminiscent of the avant-pop of Stereolab or the European coldwave of Ladytron. The second mix, by Retrosynth Records artist AUW, is slice of dark synthwave, pitched somewhere between Kavinsky and Pye Corner Audio.

Rodney Cromwell is the nom de plume of Adam Cresswell, founding member of 1990s-2000s indie-folktronica band Saloon (who had four entries in John Peel’s Festive 50, recorded three Peel Sessions and had top 10 album of the year in The Sunday Times) and one half of electronic two-piece Arthur & Martha (praised by the likes of NME, The Guardian and Artrocker).

With minimal percussion, Rodney Cromwell's lyrics float over a bed of vintage synthesizers and effected guitar. Shunning a clean '80s synth sound, the song is almost psychedelic in outlook, reminiscent of the minimal synth of acts such as Broadcast, Pram or Silver Apples. The video, an atmospheric montage of heavily effected and distorted shots of rural Britain, was inspired by film auteurs such as Stan Brakhage and Chris Marker.

Writing and recording in his home studio in Catford, South London, Cromwell employs an old-school approach using predominantly vintage hardware. Mixed and co-produced by Richard Bennett at Acme Hall Studios (New York) and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Goldfrapp, Paul Weller, Pixies, The Alarm), Martin J Langthorne, who also designed the album artwork, contributes guitar.

"It was one of the first songs written for the new album. At the time I was still disorientated from illness. I turned on the TV and there was Boris Johnson’s lackey, Dominic Cummings, spinning some yarn. In my post-fever state he came across like Wormtongue from Tolkein, talking about riverbanks, woods and castles while literally sitting in a perfumed rose garden like in Alice in Wonderland. I wouldn’t say that influenced me directly, but certainly my own state of brain-fog sent my writing off in a more heady and fantastical direction," explains Adam Cromwell.

"I wanted the song to have the feel of a marching clockwork toy, so the beat is really simple and metronomic with the synths doing the talking by enveloping the song."

This single is the title track of the forthcoming ‘Memory Box' album, A mixture of electronic hauntological excursions, dreampop and European coldwave that is scheduled for release in early 2022. Using analogue synths, drum machines with parts played almost entirely live (with minimal computer sequencing) and vocals recorded without autotune, this record conjures up an organic, albeit dream-like, world that is inspired as much by Alice in Wonderland, Franz Kafka and Anna Kavan as it is by its sonic influences such as Kraftwerk, The Cure and Stereolab. The sonic pallet of 'Memory Box' is both reassuringly familiar and completely distinctive.

Rodney Cromwell's debut LP 'Age of Anxiety' (2015) and 'Rodney's English Disco' EP (2018) have garnered Rodney Cromwell features in Electronic Sound Magazine, NME, Huffington Post, Paste, Record Collector, BBC6 Music and national RNE3 in Spain, for whom he also recorded a live session. The debut album featured in scores of Best of Lists including Electronic Sound Magazine and he was named 'Most Promising New Act' by The Electricity Club. He has appeared on compilations alongside Cavern of Anti-Matter, John Foxx, Devo, OMD, Katy Perry and other notable artists.

Rodney will be playing a handful of live dates to support the album's release. His debut festival appearance at Indietracks 2015, described as 'a spiritual experience", led to further festival appearances in the UK and in Spain, in addition to supporting artists such as Pram, Marsheaux, Death & Vanilla, Rowetta and Steve Davis. In 2020, he also performed as part of Damo Suzuki's backing band.

As of November 17, the 'Memory Box' maxi-single will be available digitally, including on Spotify, Apple Music and directly from the artist via Bandcamp.

THE THREE TREMORS RETURN WITH ‘GUARDIANS OF THE VOID’ + LIVE DATES!

The Three Tremors featuring Tim “Ripper” Owens , Harry “The Tyrant” Conklin, and Sean “The Hell Destroyer” have announced the release of their new album, ‘GUARDIANS OF THE VOID,’ and a corresponding US Tour for November 2021.

Coming off the successful release of their self-titled debut album, several North American and European tours, the release of the solo versions of the first album, and festival performances, the Three Tremors shot out of a cannon at a frantic pace - when the shutdown forced them to cut short their North American tour in the middle of their run in early 2020.

However, they wasted no time and got to work on another new album. Now their sophomore effort, ‘GUARDIANS OF THE VOID,’ is ready for blast off and will hit the streets worldwide November 5th, 2021. Twelve songs are found on this wicked rocker of an album, and once again, they cover all the bases of heavy metal.

The first single off of the album, “Bone Breaker,” has a lyric video that can be found here: https://youtu.be/SUWflX6uJqk (this is also the instant gratification track that you will receive with any pre-order).

As with all Steel Cartel releases, only the songs that receive video releases will be on the streaming platforms, so the physical medium and the fans that support and collect them are the band’s focus and priority. And speaking of great physical product, the band has once again hired Marc Sasso to do the cover artwork once again.

Marc Sasso is best known for his work with such companies as MARVEL, the WWE and Halford, Dio, Cage and many others. He has hit it out of the park once again with this haunting, other-worldly painting that captures the mysterious essence of the title perfectly.

Tim Owens describes how the recording process went down. “We had just started our second North American tour promoting the ‘Solo Versions,’ when everything started to shut down. It was a shame because we had some really good momentum and the shows were selling well - including a few that were sold out in advance. When we realized that we could be sitting home for a while, we all started putting these new songs together and recording them.”

Harry added, “I had moved to Greece during this whole time and the guys started sending me song after song at a furious pace. The songs were kick ass and I found it easier and more natural to collaborate and add my ideas and nuances. We have toured and done so many shows together now that the comfort level was there, and they came together really quick. The end result is amazing.”

And Sean says, “Everyone in the band has a lot of other projects going on, so it was good we could all pull together and make this follow up album. Now Sean our drummer (Elg) is also in KK’s Priest, so we are stoked that we could not only put out another record, but also get a tour in before everyone gets busy. We have spent so much time together - we are like a heavy metal street gang, and have a blast performing these songs and going on the road. With these new songs available from the GUARDIANS OF THE VOID album, our setlist will be supremely vicious!!”

In true Steel Cartel fashion some amazing pre-order package combinations are available for pre-order via https://www.thethreetremors.com/site/store.html. There will be 3 different versions of the double gatefold vinyl ‘GUARDIANS OF THE VOID.’ The original version, the 1 in 5 variant version, and the virgin cover version. The 1 in 5 variant version has completely different cover art (again by Marc Sasso) on the front and back, and will be limited to one copy for every 5 standard versions that are produced. The virgin cover version has the original Marc Sasso artwork without band logos or album titles.

The wait is finally over, Three Tremors fans!

UNTAMED LAND: Old Western-Inspired Atmospheric Metal Project Reveals Cinematic Third Single "The Heavenly Coil"

+ Lyric Video

New Album, Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms, OUT NOW via Napalm Records

Order HERE

Ohio, USA based project UNTAMED LAND – the world’s very first metal band incorporating the feral sounds of classic, old western cinematics – will release its sophomore offering, Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms, via Napalm Records this Friday, October 8, 2021.

Today, following the release of their soaring, intricate recent singles, “Clothed In Smoke” and "A Nameless Shape", alongside breathtaking official music videos, UNTAMED LAND has revealed a third single in advance of the new album release. 15-minute opus “The Heavenly Coil” proves an instant standout with organ, harpsichord and acoustics before intertwining with progressive blackened metal ingredients instilled with outlaw temper.

Project mastermind Patrick Kern says about the track:

"This song features the most dissonant and intense riffs on the album, but eventually transitions to a sparse and atmospheric mood of contemplation. When the distorted guitar comes back in, the tone is much different, and the story has taken a dramatic twist. You'll have to listen to the album to see where it goes from here!"

Watch the lyric video for “The Heavenly Coil” below

While exploring influence and nuances from various strains of atmospheric metal, UNTAMED LAND traverses wild new frontiers – evoking the ambiance of classic Ennio Morricone/Spaghetti Western soundtracks and traditional old western instrumentals. While some listeners may be quick to label this a purely black metal album before diving into its depths, this description only scratches the surface.

UNTAMED LAND mastermind, composer and sole performer of all instruments (except for accented violin performances by Rita Torrens and vocal contributions by Caroline Joy and Jacob Wherley), Patrick Kern, was initially inspired by what he describes as pagan, cosmic and even “doomy” black metal when writing the album, but the material bloomed in a way that is much more multifaceted to be categorized so singularly.

Patrick Kern adds about the album:

“I would hesitate to call this a black metal album. It's meant to be a cinematic journey into a dark and fantastical old west setting, and various genres and sounds are used to bring that story to life. Lyrically, whereas the previous album dealt with the eternal struggle of the solar hero, this time we delve into a sort of gnostic "Beauty and the Beast" story, ultimately revolving around the feminine role in creation and the tension between the world of matter and the world of forms.

The album ended up reflecting my own spiritual journey that occurred all throughout the writing and production process. I had a great time experimenting with many different styles and sounds for this release and am excited to share this new chapter in the UNTAMED LAND world!"

Following the underground success of its 2018 debut, Between The Winds, Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms is unique in all its facets – not only is it original, inspiring and an impressively eclectic album, it’s poised to cast the name UNTAMED LAND on the lips of every experimental metal fan upon its release. In a dry landscape of repetitive noise as far as the eye can see, Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms is an aural oasis.

"Crucifix (I Burn For You)"

'LUCIFER IV' Out Now on Century Media

LUCIFER - one of the hardest working and incendiary acts in rock music today, has unveiled yet another new offering from their upcoming new studio album. The band is thrilled to share the third single from their soon-to-be-released LP, LUCIFER IV. The new single, "Crucifix (I Burn For You)", is out now and available on all major streaming platforms. Watch and listen to the single below.

Speaking about the music video for the new track, vocalist Johanna Platow Andersson shares:

"We are thrilled to release the music video for our new single 'Crucifix (I Burn For You)'.

The sequel to our last video 'Bring Me His Head' was shot in one take with a vintage 70s tube camera just like its predecessor by photographer Crille Forsberg and directed by Amir Chamdin. It has been a true honor to work with them, especially considering the astonishing portfolios they have under their belt. They've literally worked with anyone from The Hellacopters to Adele, from Ghost to Pharrell Williams. Very notable for me personally was Crille shooting David Bowie's very last video 'Lazarus', that shook me to the bone. Well, and now they've worked with Lucifer. And what a bloody workday it was!"

"WHAT I WOULD GIVE"

Taken From New 2 Track EP

'Dusk'

Out Now | Listen Here

Speaking on the release of "What I Would Give", vocalist Mike Greenwood shares

In our lifetime everyone experiences loss in some way or another, the weight of death and grief can weigh heavy and leave an impression that lasts forever. What I Would Give” is about just that. It is one of our most emotionally driven songs to date. It speaks about the loss of loved ones and the idea that we would do anything to have them back in our lives. The song is sad but beautiful and is an homage to the ones we have lost.”

The two tracks on 'Dusk' follow previous two-track EP releases 'Twilight' and 'Dawn' which spawned lead singles & videos "Vengeance" and "Creator's Conscience" and featuring B-side tracks "Eating The Body Of God" and "The Great Grey Flame". Between them, the two releases have clocked up 586,510 cross-platform streams and 166,000 YouTube views since release. They have covered Spotify's Deathcore playlist and been featured on several major playlists including Spotify's 'New Metal Tracks', Apple Music's 'Breaking Metal', Tidal's 'Extreme Metal Music' and Deezer's 'Deathcore'. Revolver included "Creator's Conscience" on their '7 Best New Songs Right Now' list the week it was released, calling the track "a triumphant detonation that utilizes both of their vocalists and all three of their guitarists to unleash a mine-field-like assault on the listener."

ANGELMAKER levels listeners with a furious, focused, diverse, and violent extremity, creating deathcore of the highest order, injected with blackened thrash, a smattering of power violence, and the urgent ferocity of underground hardcore.ANGELMAKER summon the most brutal elements of Floridian death metal and combine it with the coldest permafrost of Scandinavian black metal, without the theatricality sometimes clouding the genres.

The brand new music unleashed by ANGELMAKER in 2021, crafted in recent months with producer Tim Creviston (Spiritbox, Misery Signals, Vultures) and mixed and mastered by Will Putney (Thy Art Is Murder, Knocked Loose, Every Time I Die), is the band’s most confident and destructive yet.

Ten years strong as an independent, do-it-yourself force, ANGELMAKER triumphantly stands tall. Keep it locked for more coming from ANGELMAKER soon.

ABOUT ANGELMAKER

The members of ANGELMAKER were all teenagers when the band formed (half of them even went to the same high school together) and began a decade long streak of independence that continues to this day. 2012’s Decay EP put them on the deathcore map. A three-way split EP with Lament and Isolations arrived the following year.

ANGELMAKER’s full-length debut, 2015’s Dissentient, was a massive standout, demonstrated by ferocious songs like “Godless", “A Dark Omen,” and “Leech,” the latter of which accumulated 1.7 million views on YouTube and 3.7 million Spotify streams. One Bandcamp commenter likened the album’s sound to “cutting your heart out with a rusty spoon.” Portland, Oregon-based producer Stephan Hawkes (Chelsea Grin, Attila, Red Fang) produced and mixed it. The album was included in Revolver Magazine's '15 Essential Deathcore Albums' list, calling it "a landmark album from deathcore's second wave." stating that the band "manage to sew a litany of melodic elements into their sound — clean guitar passages, hardcore gang-chants and genuinely gorgeous leads — without losing any ground in the ongoing war for breakdown supremacy."

The Unholy Alliance split with A Night In Texas arrived in 2016, less than a year before ANGELMAKER beat more than a dozen bands for a fan-voted spot on 2017’s Summer Slaughter Tour, featuring The Black Dahlia Murder, Dying Fetus, The Faceless, Oceano, Slaughter To Prevail, Origin, Rings Of Saturn, Betraying The Martyrs, and Lorna Shore, among others. That momentum continued across Canada, with ANGELMAKER selected as the only opening act for The Faceless on a short trek.

The deathcore subreddit lit up in search of footage from ANGELMAKER’s spectacular performance at the Brutal Assault festival in 2018 in an 18th-century army fortress in Czechia. MetalSucks presented the fall’s Bloodletting North America tour, putting ANGELMAKER alongside Virginia’s Arsis; California’s Decrepit Birth; Slovenia’s Within Destruction; and New York’s Internal Bleeding and Pyrexia.

ANGELMAKER’s self-titled sophomore album emerged in 2019, punctuated by unrelenting tracks like “Hollow Heart,” “BLOODTHIRSTER” and “Requiem.” They supported the record with shows and tours alongside Despised Icon, Kublai Khan, and Ingested.

The band’s dual-vocal and triple-guitar composition allows for new and diverse explorations of extremity, setting AngelMaker both inside and apart from the traditions of the deathcore subgenre. Now, as the British Columbian ensemble’s first new material in roughly two years seeps out from the underground in 2021, ANGELMAKER are back and ready to once again assert their place at the very forefront of the deathcore scene.

DEVIANT PROCESS Shares Official Music Video for "Emergence"

Canadian progressive metal rising stars DEVIANT PROCESS are now sharing the official music video for the song "Emergence," which is taken from their brand new record, 'Nurture!' The video, which was created by Alexis BC, can be seen below.

DEVIANT PROCESS comments, "We’re absolutely pleased to present you our first music video ever! It was an amazing experience and we were blessed to have such a great team to make it happen. We’re sincerely satisfied with the result!"

"For the next 47-minutes, the complexity never lets up. Jazz and metal and folky prog all swirling together in a head-spinning storm of sound." - The Wire (UK) on 'Nurture'

'Nurture' was released on October 15, 2021 and can be ordered, streamed, and downloaded HERE.

Too often in metal, limits and boundaries are pushed at the expense of taste. Bands and fans alike can be found showering bursts of attention onto the latest hotshots redlining along at the fastest BPMs, at whose got the most unintelligibly guttural vocals, at who can generate the most indistinguishably chaotic guitar tone and/or how picture-perfect and sanitized rhythm sections can deliver their click-tracked wares. More often than not, all this comes at the expense of clarity, soul, groove and, most importantly, good songs. For Québec City’s Deviant Process, this sort of thing has been happening too much and for too long. And while the progressive tech-death quartet are tuned in to their surroundings, the band have made a conscious decision to drop out, but not before turning on those obsessed with the likes of classic Death, Cynic and Pestilence as well as contemporaries Obscura, Beyond Creation and Fractal Universe with Nurture, their second full-length and first for Season of Mist.

“We aren’t the kind of band where it’s ‘showing off first, music second,’” exclaims guitarist/vocalist Jean-Daniel Villeneuve. “We want to have great compositions with solid ideas and structures. We want the listener to be able to sing the song, to be able to remember every passage and every riff, not just thinking, ‘Oh my god, I’m surrounded by 11,000 notes a second.’ We didn’t want to check tech-death boxes about what BPM we needed to have blast beats at, using the same amps this big band used or how much shredding we needed to include. We don’t want to be a band that’s only about achievements in technical ability. We want great music and that’s been our goal since the beginning.”

“The container is more important than the contents,” guitarist Stéphane Simard sums up. “We take time to have really good structures first before adding all the harmonies, melodies and musicianship stuff.”

Deviant Process’ history goes back to 2008 with Villeneuve kicking out the one-man symphonic black metal jams under the guise of Psychic Pain. A self-produced demo caught the attention of fellow axe-swinger and musical soul mate, Simard, who together with bassist Pierre-Luc Beaulieu and drummer Olivier Genest, completed the band’s original lineup. In 2011, the foursome recorded two-track debut EP Narcissistic Rage after a common bond led to a shift in musical direction.

"Psychic Pain was a solo project,” remembers Villeneuve, “and when Steph and I came together, more brutal and technical death metal was the common ground between the two of us. So, we decided to go that way because that’s more how we thought about music together and it fit better.”

Following the release of Narcissistic Rage, Deviant Process honed their chops on local stages, opening for the likes of Cryptopsy and Revocation, and in rehearsal rooms, delving deeper into the ways and means of expanding technical death metal beyond jaw-dropping tempos and flashy fretboard finger gymnastics. Replacing Genest with drummer Antoine Baril (who produced and engineered Narcissistic Rage) introduced broader rhythmic elements to the new material, everything from rock-solid four-on-the-floor heavy metal pounding to side-winding jazz and hi-brow classical percussion. In the summer of 2013, the band entered Baril’s Hemisphere Studio with the help of Chris Donaldson (Cryptopsy, Beneath the Massacre, Ingested, Ophidian I) to capture what would become debut album, Paroxysm. To say their first full-length endeavor was a challenge is an understatement. During what ended up being a three-year operation, François Fortin took over both production and drumming duties, production work shifted studio locations from Hemisphere to La Boîte Noire, and the insanely busy Baril (who also plays in Augury, From Dying Suns and Contemplator and owns the studio in which Paroxysm was recorded) made the decision to leave the band during the mixing process. By the production had been completed, bassist/lyricist Philippe Cimon replaced Beaulieu.

Deviant Process may have been bruised and battered by the end of the process, but they emerged stronger, more intent and focused, with a new lease on life, a solid lineup (drummer Francois C. Fortin replaced Michel Bélanger, who had stepped up after Baril left) and Paroxysm which was initially released by recently shuttered Canadian label, PRC Music. Paroxysm was supported by slots opening for the likes of Archspire, First Fragment, Beyond Creation and Gorod. But it was a mini-tour in the band’s home province opening for Gorguts and Dysrhythmia in 2017 that brought them to the attention of Season of Mist. The band and label felt each other out, went into negotiations and finalized a deal in 2018.

“We were a really small band with an album released on a really small label when [SoM label boss] Michael [Berberian] approached us…” begins Simard.

“…He said that some people in the US office told him about the band and the album,” finishes Villeneuve. “He liked it, made a proposal for the next album and then sent a contract. I still don’t know who told him about us, but that’s the story, as dull as it is!”

This brings us to the present and forthcoming second album, Nurture. Its seven songs (and one cover, of Obliveon’s “Cybervoid”) are an expansive marvel of not just technical death metal maturity, but the seamless inclusion of foreign elements like the tribal fusion middle-eight in “In Worship, In Blood,” the almost free-jazz chaos that introduces and drives “Emergence,” the Latin-folk-meets-British-prog acoustic flourishes in “Syrtis Magna” and tinges of ‘90s Rush weaved into the complex firestorm of “Asynchronous.” It’s a record that the guitar-slinging duo said they officially started working on in the autumn of 2017, so as to take advantage of the opportunity afforded to them by their new label, but one in which the material harkens back to 2008 as the band has been unafraid to dip into its extensive riff bank for the meticulously perfect idea that’ll connect this and that, old with new, brutal and delicate, and balls out with brains out.

“We know when it’s too much and are always thinking about what’s best for the song,” Villeneuve explains. “Some people might want to hear a million notes in a song, but sometimes all you need is a riff with two power chords that will stick in your head. But, we’ve also been known to spend a complete week working on a three-second transition…”

“…Or throwing out a couple minutes of music we’ve worked on because it doesn’t fit with the parts before or after it,” says Simard.

Nurture bobs and weaves like the sonic manifestation of a worryingly tall and fantastically ripped mathematics/quantum physics double-major who spends nights crunching noses and ear cartilage after spending days crunching numbers and calculating the size of the universe. Tidal layers of barbarous guitars engage in a baroque convergence/divergence dance and are bounced off prominent, fusion-inspired bass playing. The drumming stops and spins on a dime from ambient sparseness to clogging every artery of space while Villeneuve unleashes an insanely unholy barrage of black metal screams, death metal growls and full-throated, muscular bellowing, everything being put on display throughout dizzying album centerpiece “The Blessings of Annihilation Infinite.”

“On Nurture, we took a different direction during the writing,” the vocalist says, “to make it more articulate and instrumental. Death metal wasn’t our only guideline for writing music or even what we enjoy; we like jazz, old prog from the ‘70s, classical and we want to play the well-crafted music that we want to hear.”

Thematically, Nurture uses veiled lyrical references and far-reaching metaphors in the exploration of human experience commonalities. What’s being referenced may not be blatantly or entirely revealed, but spend enough time parsing and decoding Philippe Cimon’s lyrics and it’s clear that even if the dude is living in a perpetual game of 3-D chess, he empathizes with what we’re all dealing with and understands where we’re all coming from and where we’re all going.

Says the bassist: “There isn’t a central theme for the lyrics on Nurture. The songs were written over a certain period of time and different themes are explored. A common aspect to every song is the use of esoteric or mythological references to express a relation to a certain theme, be it substance abuse, trauma and its consequences, faith, solitude, or man’s lust for power. However, the themes are sometimes brought up in a way that is very unclear and lets the reader make up his own explanation of the text.”

“There’s no gory stuff or anything typically death metal in our lyrics,” adds Villeneuve. “Our goal is to have the listener be able to associate a lyrical idea to a song. We want the listener to create their own feeling and meaning for the songs. It’s an album where people can really feel the vibe throughout the whole thing, not just from listening to one song. There’s an energy you can feel from our effort and there’s a flow that goes from beginning to the end, a journey that’s speaking in the music.”

With Season of Mist having their backs, Deviant Process has quickly been thrust into an unfamiliar world of having to select and settle on variant vinyl colors, conjure up multiple t-shirt designs, tend to contractual and legal matters, PR responsibilities, out-of-province and international communication and all that fun behind-the-scenes business stuff. The band is still adjusting to industry demands and encountering stressful situations they hadn’t thought of, assumed they’d ever have to consider or even know existed. Ironically, what’s brought them to this point is their own boundless and borderless take on extreme metal. They may be “a small band that wants to be not small,” and Nurture has helped them get their collective foot in the door to a world populated by the stable of bands they blasted while growing up and still blast today when time away from rewriting the rules of technical death metal permit.

“All of my favorite bands since I was young seemed to be signed to Season of Mist,” laughs Simard, “so we are very appreciative of having the opportunity to be on the same label as our idols. We’re still getting used to what we have to do when we’re not playing our instruments…”

“…But we want to go against the grain,” says Villeneuve, again finishing his counterpart’s thought. “We don’t want to just fit in the tech-death box; we want to include anything that opens more possibilities, even if we’re just boring people from a small city in Québec that like and want to play really good music!”

Bad Omens slither through boundaries, only to ultimately choke convention in the process. The quartet—Noah Sebastian(vocals), Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson (guitar), Nick Ruffilo (bass), and Nick Folio (drums)—materialize with ghostly atmospherics, striking hooks, and the tingles of sensual high-register harmonies uplifted by cinematic production. Racking up over 250M worldwide streams to date and earning acclaim, the band presents an uncompromising and undeniable vision on their third full-length album, 'THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND' (Sumerian Records).

“Making the record changed us as songwriters and musicians. In many ways, I feel like it set me free as an artist because every decision made in the writing process was for myself, with no fear for anyone else’s expectations of what our third album should sound like. Be it our fans or our record label.”

They’ve always wielded this level of magic though…

The group’s 2016 self-titled debut, 'Bad Omens', yielded fan favorites such as “Glass Houses” and “The Worst In Me” which eclipsed 20.4 million Spotify streams. On its heels, 2019’s 'Finding God Before God Finds Me' spawned “Dethrone” (9.5 million Spotify streams) and “Careful What You Wish For” (8.8 million Spotify streams). Along the way, they toured with numerous marquee acts and received tastemaker praise.

After their first headline tour was canceled mid-way at the top of the global pandemic, the band found themselves at home in Los Angeles with plenty of time. Where they absorbed and imparted a different palette of unexpected inspirations. Channeling what the frontman describes at times as a “cursive sound” they embraced newfound confidence and boundlessly loose creativity. Anything went in the studio, and all “rules” were broken. Noah and Jolly wrote, produced, and engineered the music themselves while GRAMMY® Award-nominated producer and songwriter Zakk Cervini (Halsey, Grimes, Poppy, blink-182) lent his talents with the mix and master. Challenging himself, Noah decided to “make a track sampling items around the house, none of which were musical instruments”.

This ultimately became the framework for the first single “THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND”. Claps puncture the icy soundscape as his voice stretches from a breathy moan into an evocative and entrancing hook, breaking from a whisper into the seductive chant, “It wasn’t hard to realize. Love’s the death of peace of mind.” It culminates on a climactic scream uplifted by a distorted crunch.

“The whole record really details the loss of peace of mind,” he explains. “The lyrics in the title track are a little more specific in terms of the conflict at the heart of something more intimate and personal.”

By speaking it aloud, Bad Omens offer a level of comfort and empathy, with a sinister shroud. At the same time, they also give rock music a sexy new shape on 'THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND'.

“Sonically, we want to do something you can’t arrive late or early too,” he leaves off. “You can’t cheat your way to the final act. You have to get on the ride and process it until the end. The songs are meant to be heard from start to finish. We want you to take the whole trip with us.”

Glasgow's psychedelic rock wizards The Kundalini Genie release 'Half In, Half Out' LP, mixed by Jason Shaw and mastered by RIDE's Mark Gardener

"Like a welcome lovefest between The Black Angels, The Verve, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Spiritualized... With reverb-drenched recordings that integrate multi-textured guitars, an unwavering rhythm section and Robbie Wilson’s unique vocal style and timbre, The Kundalini Genie have a sound all their own" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Wholesome. So I was bound to love them... t’s all a reverie anyway, one you don’t want to wake up from" ~ More Fuzz

"This blissful sound is invoked with the captivating sighs of shoegaze driven guitars and vocals, inducing a lulling, catchy, and hypnotic groove" ~ Post-Punk.com

"Mesmerizing... hypnotically pushes with fiery guitar cycles, shadowy bass line, muffled drum thumps, and dispassionately droning vocals... solid melody, hooks and tides of effects-pedal-induced mayhem" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Some of the best psych rock music currently being made anywhere. The kind whose ripping tunes do a number on your head and afterwards leaves you thanking them" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"A glowing tangent of slow tripping beats, packed into kaleidoscopic soundscapes of synths, guitars and fuzzy vocals" ~ Urbanista Magazine

"Psychedelic rock‘n’roll unlike any other. Spaced out drones, druggy melodies, a hammering rhythmic section and an eccentric, high octane frontman leading the charge" ~ It's Psychedelic Baby Magazine

Glasgow-based psychedelic rock’n’roll collective The Kundalini Genie are gearing up for the release of their fifth studio album 'Half In, Half Out', a 10-track offering mixed by Jason Shaw (Cambodian Space Project, Frankie Teardrop, Sonic Jesus, Aerofall) and mastered by RIDE's Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound Studio in Oxford. Ahead of this, they present the track 'All Your Love (Shines On)'.

The Kundalini Genie centers around singer-songwriter Robbie Wilson (sitar, guitar, vocals) and also involves Jason Houston (guitar, vocals), Melissa Rennie (guitar, keys, vocals), Lloyd Ledingham (bass, vocals), Louis Martin (guitar, vocals) and Grant Robertson (drums).

"Robbie Wilson (Kundalini Genie) is a total force and a total star in the making . He’s so driven and I loved mastering his record," says Mark Gardener.

Not long ago, the band revealed the video for the title track 'Half In, Half Out', which was filmed and edited by the band's guitarist Louis Martin. This new album follows their '11:11' album, released via Space Ranch Records (Europe) and Little Cloud Records (USA) in 2020.

"Thank you all for your continued support. I deeply hope you will love this new sonic offering as much as I do. I believe the music is super different to anything produced by the band yet and I’ve broken away from the last three albums’ 7 song length to provide you with a heckin whole TEN songs!!" says Robbie Wilson.

Emerging from the nether regions of Glasgow, The Kundalini Genie has been blowing minds globally with music characterised by droning hypnotic fuzz rock, 60’s British Invasion-inspired melodies, transcendental sitar, and dreamy, spaced out soundscapes.

Sauntering hypnotic guitars stride steadily forward as the sitar floats along, carrying the subconscious into a benevolent flow and inner journey. Their sonic journey ranges across the spectrum of their own musical influences - The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spiritualized, The Dandy Warhols, The Warlocks, The Beatles, The 13th Floor Elevators, The Kinks, The Rolling Stones, The Black Ryder and Black Market Karma.

With live shows involving eclectic displays of voodoo mojo and sound that ripples through the audience like a sonic tranquilizer, the band has performed with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Warlocks, The Underground Youth, The Myrrors, The Stevenson Ranch Davidians, Triptides, New Candys and Spindrift, in addition to ripping it up at numerous festivals.

As of November 12, the 'Half In, Half Out' album will be available on vinyl-style CD and coloured 12" vinyl with reverse board artwork, as well as digitally, including on Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, where it can be ordered directly from the artist. On December 7, The Kundalin Genie also plays Glasgow's Nice N Sleazywith Firefriend.

Firepower Indie Pop: Atlanta's I Am a Rocketship releases ambitious 'Lies and Legends' LP

"Everything you expect and more... too smart to be pop, too subtle to truly be classed as rock" ~ Dancing About Architecture

"Pleasing to the ears and compelling to the heart... Brilliant" Jammerzine

American-Swedish indie pop outfit I Am a Rocketship have released their new album 'Lies and Legends', their most ambitious offering to date, following well-received singles 'Fever Dream' and 'What's This For'.

Based in Atlanta, I Am a Rocketship is a duo comprising Eric Weissinger and L E Kippner, who mix smooth impressionistic lyrics and rock guitar with a dash of Dirty South beats and psychedelic bombast.

Both raised on folk and classical music, the two later discovered bands such as Joy Division, My Bloody Valentine, Massive Attack and Sigur Ros. Suckers for a pop hook, I Am a Rocketship is a self-contained duo, who write, record and create art and videos without the involvement of other contributors.

The new 'Lies and Legends' album is comprised of ten songs about the appeal, in trying times, of lies and legends over reason and love. They give people hope, a feeling of belonging, and frequently, a license to do terrible things in the name of their belief.

"When facts are scary, people turn to belief. I guess these are songs about faith, how it can be comforting, but blinding," says guitarist and programmer Eric Weissinger.

All the music on the 'Lies and Legends' album was recorded on a notebook computer during early 2021 - a very productive year for the band given the amount of time spent under lockdown, with late 2020 also bringing their 'oRAnGE' EP, a release laced with frustration, sadness and rage over the rise of authoritarianism and accelerating environmental collapse.

In April 2020r, I Am a Rocketship released their 'Ghost Stories' LP, which were preceded by, 'Mind Grafitti' (2019) and their debut offering 'Mission Control'(2016).

In his past incarnation, Eric Weissinger would back up various artists, opening for bands such as The Wedding Present, The Black Crowes, James, Cracker and Portastatic. But everything changed upon meeting L E Kippner - cellist, scientist, radio DJ and singer for Swedish synth-pop duo Neobox. At first forming Hitchcock Blondes in Ohio, they relocated to Atlanta to make a fresh start as I Am a Rocketship.

As of November 11, the 'Lies and Legends' album will be available across digital platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music, and can also be obtained directly from the artist via Bandcamp.

ARKENSTONE RELEASE SECOND VIDEO, “TREE OF WITCHES,” FROM THEIR FORTHCOMING DEBUT EP

For lovers of Candlemass and Black Sabbath, the new video from Arkenstone, entitled “Tree of Witches,” reanimates souls of a million passed to deliver a skull crushing song of epic proportions – which is the second clip overall issued from their forthcoming EP (released on December 3, 2021), ‘Ascension of the Fallen,’ and can be viewed below:

The Australian based band features the incredible talent of singer Louie Gorgievski, guitarist/producer Stu Marshall (Death Dealer / Dungeon / Night Legion), Mike Lepond (Symphony X / Death Dealer) on bass, and drummer Clay T (Night Legion).

As Marshall explains: "There is no doubt Candlemass has been a huge influence and in turn that must also mean Black Sabbath, right? Well, ‘Tree of Witches’ was one of the first riffs I presented to Louie and he conjured some incredibly powerful vocals that instantly found itself as the first song we wrote together for this band. It's dark, evil, and a headbanger.”

Gorgievski adds: “This is the track that reignited our song writing partnership and essentially is the creation of Arkenstone. ‘Tree of Witches’ is the foundation of the ‘Ascension of the Fallen’ EP. It inspired power, emotion, and delves in the dark realms of witchcraft. Stu Marshall’s musical genius delivers a timeless and riffy classic – ‘Tree of Witches’ presents as the ultimate rock anthem”.

Concerning the band’s mysterious name, according to metal-archives.com, “In the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien (most notably in ‘The Hobbit’) the Arkenstone is the great jewel discovered beneath the roots of Erebor (The Lonely Mountain) by Thráin I soon after the establishment of the Dwarf-kingdom there, and prized by his descendants as ‘The Heart of the Mountain’.”

The EP comes with a huge label sampler disc as a special bonus and is available for pre-order here:

Black/Epic Metal Pioneers DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED Release Lyric Video for Intriguing New Single “Black Fog And Poison Win

New Album, Angel of Carnage Unleashed, out on Friday, November 12

Get Your Copy NOW!

The wait is almost over! Black/Epic Metal pioneers DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED cloak the world in a veil of damnation with their third single and final harbinger of doom and destruction "Black Fog And Poison Wind", cut from their striking upcoming album, Angel of Carnage Unleashed, to be revealed this Friday, November 12. The Finnish foursome, now featuring Tuomas Holopainen as a full member of the band and Kai Hahto (both Nightwish) as session drummer, delivers this final teaser alongside an intriguing lyric video.

The record's final song, “Black Fog And Poison Wind”, offers an appropriate, hard-hitting and thunderous ending to the long-awaited comeback album of the Black Metal horde DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED. The song features mad, high-pitched screams, evil riffing, mind-blowing blastbeats and eerie choirs. After 23 years of silence, the vicious new offering, Angel Of Carnage Unleashed, sets free some of the fastest and most diabolic songs of the band's history - a sonic monster combining aggression, haunting soundscapes, epic majesty and evil melodies.

DARWOODS MY BETROTHED on their new single:

“This is one of our favourite songs from the new album. Lyrically, it tells the story of the so-called “Death March of the Carolinians” where 3000 soldiers of the Swedish army froze to death when withdrawing from Norway across the fells in the winter of 1718. We chose to approach this topic from an anthropomorphic perspective: the storyteller is the poisonous icy wind which – in the service of the Angel of Carnage – mercilessly murdered the soldiers in the snowy mountains. The story is accompanied with a black metal anthem that combines brutal blastbeat-driven passages with slower and melodic eerie parts featuring choirs and female vocals. We feel that the song captures the atmosphere of the lyric perfectly.“

Watch the new lyric video for "Black Fog And Poison Wind” below.

Angel of Carnage Unleashed contains eight songs written by the three musicians who founded the band in 1993: Pasi Kankkunen, Jouni Mikkonen and Teemu Kautonen (with substantial creative inputs from the fourth member Tuomas Holopainen). It sets free a unique blend of brutal, fast-driven black metal and epic anthems, in which eerie screams merge with heroic clean vocals, monumental choirs and majestic keyboards along with gory stories of famine, war, plague and the inescapable brutality of Finland’s nature in the era of the Great Northern War (1700-1721). It explores how Finns experienced the many manifestations of the Angel of Carnage, sent by God to punish them for their sins.

Guitarist Jouni Mikkonen on Tuomas Holopainen now being a full member of the band:

“‘Tuomas was featured as a session keyboardist on all previous albums. This time he was fully on board from the moment we decided to make this album and hence it was natural for him to become a full band member. He also made a substantial contribution to the creative process.”

Pre-order your copy of Angel of Carnage Unleashed NOW!

The album opener “Name the Dead'' sets off with atmospheric organ tunes but leaves no scope for weakness, as only a few seconds later storming drums, aggressive riffs and raging growls set the stage for everything that is about to come: brutal soundscapes spliced with epic accents! The second track, "In Evil, Sickness and in Grief'', pierces through the core with a poisoning vocal attack and contrasting operatic female background layers. “Murktide and Midnight Sun” marks folk and Viking reminiscence with its clean and catchy vocal presentation, grand choirs and mystic atmosphere, followed by the heavily stomping “You Bitter Source of Sorrow” and “Where We Dwell” with its haunting, all-consuming keyboard passages. “In Thrall to Ironskull's Heart” showcases the multifaceted character of DARKWOODS MY BETROTHED with an almost balladic start, which evolves into an uptempo, epic journey into the Battle of Napue (1714). The title of the penultimate track “Massacre” conveys the track’s musical direction with precision: expect in-your-face blastbeats and gory lyrics. The final song “Black Fog and Poison Wind” unleashes a sonic monster once more, combining aggression, haunting soundscapes and evil melodies, before Angel of Carnage Unleashed ends with the tunes of a soundtrack-like outro.

Bassist Teemu Kautonen on the album:

“The lyrics are based on the work of the renowned Finnish historian Teemu Keskisarja. His research inspired us both to carefully embed all lyrics in the appropriate historical context and to bring forth the human dimension by focusing on stories of individual people and how they experienced this perhaps darkest period of Finnish history.”

Vocalist/guitarist Pasi Kankkunen adds:

“’It was very important for us to have the original line-up on the comeback album. We also agreed right at the beginning of the process to share the songwriting in equal proportions – just as we did on the 1996 classic album, Autumn Roars Thunder.”

Angel of Carnage Unleashed will be available in the following formats:

This sonic dagger comes along with a crushing official music video, showcasing that SETYØURSAILS never compromises. Prepare for buzzing guitars, intense breakdowns and powerful, vicious shouts that provide the listener with a colossal taste of what’s to come on Nightfall.

SETYØURSAILS about “Ghosts”:

“We are very proud to finally be able to show what we have worked so hard on. There is so much heart, sweat and honesty in this album that it's almost scary to let it go. 'Ghosts' brings all the elements of the album together in one song, making it the perfect first single release."

Watch the Official Music Video for “Ghosts” below.

SETYØURSAILS perform uncompromising yet melodic post hardcore-influenced metal, convincing both live and on record. The unit has already performed at well-known festivals (Reload Festival, Traffic Jam Open Air) and converted fans alongside genre greats like Bullet for My Valentine, Hatebreed, Jinjer and Walls of Jericho with their unbeatable live energy. Their first album, Enough (2018), has attracted the attention of noteworthy outlets like FUZE and MoreCore, and now, SETYØURSAILS are proudly heading for round two.

Nightfall stands as an impressive return for SETYØURSAILS, who once again prove their musical diversity. A mixture of catchy choruses and intense breakdowns are evident on brutally melodic "Why", the changing spectrum of "Deadline", and "Into the Storm", which starts with a crisp deathcore intro. Among others, "Nightfall" (featuring Andy Doerner of metalcore veterans Caliban) shows the full straightforward range of Jules Mitch’s vocals, which oscillate between concise and clear, intense screams and expressive growling. "Mirror"begins atmospherically before bubbling up to an impressive journey through personal conflicts without losing its undeniably catchy quality. With tracks like "Secrets" and "Forgive Me" the band also presents its softer side. SETYØURSAILS are also full of surprises – together with Mike Perez from No Bragging Rights, they cover "Shallow” (from the film A Star Is Born) by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, and give the ballad their personal touch, once again proving their musical diversity. Nightfall was produced, recorded, mixed & mastered by Annisokay vocalist/guitarist Christoph Wieczorek and songwriter/producer Julian Breucker at Sawdust Recordings. Both have already worked with greats like Beyond The Black, Eisbrecher and Emil Bulls – just to name a few.

SETYØURSAILS about their new album:

“This album is the most honestly written work we could get out of ourselves. It reflects the struggle of dealing with oneself, fear and life itself. It's dark, it's loud and it hurts. But most importantly- it's true.”

THE HALO EFFECT RELEASE FIRST EVER SINGLE + MUSIC VIDEO "SHADOWMINDS"!

The year of the corona-pandemic, when the world was forced into a standstill, five old friends finally put an old idea in motion. The result is a brand new band, THE HALO EFFECT, who recently inked a contract with Nuclear Blast.

The members of THE HALO EFFECT are not only masters of their domain, but also pioneers of the Gothenburg melodeath scene, who, at some point, have all been members of fellow Gothenburg icons IN FLAMES: Lead guitarists Niclas Engelin (ENGEL) and Jesper Strömblad (CYHRA), lead singer and lyricist Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY), bassist Peter Iwers, and drummer Daniel Svensson.
Today, the band are giving metal fans all over the world a taste of their sound with debut single ‘Shadowminds’, that comes together with a music video. Its brooding atmosphere, melodic riffs and harsh vocals provide a perfect example of what THE HALO EFFECT is about.

The band comments: "We are incredibly excited to unveil this new band with one of the first songs that we wrote together. We felt strongly that this was the right direction for the band. Finding identity, finding a drive and passion is what the song is about and also what this band is about. What drove us to do this in the first place, what obstacles have we overcome in order to fully commit to this lifestyle? It's about how easy it is to get lost if you lose focus and passion for what you do.
With the video we wanted to convey the emptiness of the city in the early stages of the pandemic and what we saw outside of the studio as we were writing but we also love the cool dystopic imagery so we made the city look even more barren and destroyed. Enjoy!"

The initial thought behind THE HALO EFFECT was to go back to the roots and explore the classic Gothenburg Sound, and the band manage just that. Their new take on the iconic sound is sure to appeal to fans of the classic melodeath sound.

The band have also announced their first ever tour, accompanying Swedish death metal berserkers AMON AMARTH and US thrashers MACHINE HEAD on 31 dates throughout Europe and the UK.

The band comments: "We could not be more excited to partner with Cobra Agency for our first tour of Europe together with metal giants AMON AMARTH and MACHINE HEAD. Working together with people who are passionate about the road, the crews, the bands and the fans means a lot to us and doing this together is something we very much look forward to. See you in Sept/Oct!"

CYNIC Previews Video for New Song, "Diamond Light Body"

Progressive rock legend CYNIC will be releasing highly anticipated new full-length 'Ascension Codes' November 26 via Season of Mist! The band is now sharing a preview and video teaser for the track "Diamond Light Body," featuring artwork by visionary artists, Martina Hoffmann and Robert Venosa. Design and animations by Randy Gaul and Jonatan Martinez (the latter worked with Masvidal on the Mythical Human Vessel trilogy). Watch and listen below.

"Diamond Light Body is a song that emerges from the ashes like a phoenix" says Paul Masvidal, Cynic founder.

Cynic's Ascension Codes is a remarkably far-reaching work, and if nothing else, a clear indication that they have landed in a place of mastery. The album, paradoxically, acts as both swan song and rebirth. The band has recently released the mind-bending first single, "Mythical Serpents," which can be heard at THIS LOCATION.

Pre-orders for 'Ascension Codes' are now live at the Season of Mist E-Shop, the CYNIC Bandcamp, and official CYNIC shop.

ICYMI: Masvidal recently shared a touching tribute to late bassist Sean Malone, who died on December 7, 2020. To commemorate Malone's legacy, CYNIC has released a never-before-heard recorded performance of the song "Integral," in which Malone performs fretless bass. "Integral" was originally released as a solo guitar and vocal track on Cynic's 'Re-Traced' EP. The emotional tribute can be found at THIS LOCATION.

As an act of support, CYNIC is inviting fans to donate as you wish for the "Integral" song download, which comes with a guitar/bass transcription of the song and an instrumental (no bass mix) to play along with. 50 percent of proceeds will be shared with suicide prevention organizations: To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) and The Trevor Project. The remaining will go towards funding a documentary about the lives and artistry of Sean Malone and Sean Reinert.
