Badflower , Teenage Wrist and Dead Poet Society bring the storm into Webster Hall,NYC

As the sky opened up and the rain drove down outside Webster Hall, inside Badflower, Teenage Wrist and Dead Poet Society were ready to bring the storm onto the stage.

It had been 7 years (way too long) since Boston natives Dead Post Society were on a NYC stage and they made up for it with a powerful opening set and songs from their new album “-!-”.

Continuing the power were Californias’ Teenage Wrist with a very tight set consisting mostly of songs from their new album “Earth is a Black Hole”.

The stage and the audience were now set for the barrage of the storm to come and Badflower did not disappoint. As soon as Josh and fellow bandmates got to the stage the crowd was ecstatic from opening song Fukboi to the closing My Funeral. At the strike of midnight the band’s newest album “This is How the World Ends” would be released and the storm outside and inside were over.

ALIEN WEAPONRY Reveals Charging New Single "Hatupatu" & Official Music Video

New U.S. Headline Tour Dates Announced!

New Album, Tangaroa, out Today via Napalm Records

On Tour this Fall in the U.S. with Gojira & Knocked Loose

New Zealand global metal frontrunners ALIEN WEAPONRY just dropped their highly-anticipated sophomore album, Tangaroa, today via Napalm Records! Tangaroa is a massive next step for the band – encompassing all of the elements that make ALIEN WEAPONRY heavy metal’s most authentic rising stars.

Following their two hard-hitting recent singles "Tangaroa" and "Buried Underground", ALIEN WEAPONRY have revealed a third new standout single, "Hatupatu". Performed entirely in the indigenous language of te reo Māori, the story behind this track is not only legendary in the band's culture – it's about one of the de Jong brothers' ancestors! Journey alongside Hatupatu in the new music video as he escapes the dangerous clutches of the fabled witch of the forest, the evil bird-woman Kurangaituku.

Drummer Henry de Jong says:

"The story of 'Hatupatu' is one Lewis and I grew up with our father was the first person to tell us as children. Having a family connection with it only made creating a song more intriguing for us. Traditionally, Māori legends were passed down through families by re-telling them, not by having them written down in books. It only makes sense for us to be re-telling this story as our tūpuna (ancestors) did for generations. We cannot wait to share with the rest of the world."

FUMING MOUTH RELEASES DEVASTATING NEW SINGLE "THEY TAKE WHAT THEY PLEASE"

While fans eagerly await news of their next full-length album, New England death metal beasts FUMING MOUTH have temporarily satiated followers with a devastating new single, "They Take What They Please" and b-side track "Devolve," which are out today from Nuclear Blast.

The single was originally released as part of Triple B Records' "America's Hardcore Volume 5" compilation and is now available for the first time digitally. The Motorhead inspired song brings a slow, slamming pace to the table that FUMING MOUTH has never brought before and is a guaranteed head-nodder for any listener.

Vocalist/guitarist Mark Whelan says:

"'They Take What They Please' is influenced by the one and only "Orgasmatron" by Motorhead. A song that has been a staple for Fuming Mouth since we started, especially Sepultura's cover of it. I've always wanted to do a song like this that stepped outside of our normal sound and could stand on its own. We accompanied it with "Devolve," a one-two punch song that hits fast then hard. Both songs are accompanied by a Necromaniac Zine illustration, one of the most putrid artists in death metal."

"Torn Arteries" is a simple reassertion that for every clone and wannabe that came along in the years following the band's initial hiatus — and have continued to poke their heads out of the mud following their return — CARCASS remains better than almost everyone else at generating a sense of sinister brutality with every riff and every lyric." - Blabbermouth.net

"Carcass spew forth a career-defining record in Torn Arteries. It's one of their finest moments since Heartwork, and an easy contender for album of the year." -

"If I thought I could get away with just posting a GIF of Beavis and Butthead thrashing around in their living room for this review, I would... This really has it all: insanely complex riffs, growl-along choruses, wryly funny lyrics, and even a nine minute song that doesn’t feel it." -

After a year of pandemic delays, English extreme metal legends CARCASS have finally released their grotesque masterpiece and one of 2021's most anticipated albums, "Torn Arteries," that's out today from Nuclear Blast Records. Featuring 10 blood-soaked tracks like "Kelly's Meat Emporium," "Dance of Ixtab" and "Under The Scalpel Blade," the band's 7th record is a fusion of "the best elements of virtually every era of the extremely varied Carcass back catalog and simultaneously raise the resulting amalgam to another, higher level of deftly rendered melodic brutality" (Decibel, Oct 2021).

Today, CARCASS has revealed a new music video for their latest gory single, "The Scythe's Remorseless Swing," which can be viewed below.

Ferocious and uncompromising in their execution, CARCASS’s ability to intricately dissect the innards of death metal, and display them for us to sonically understand has been their point of excellence for over three decades. In 2019 the band released their first single in over 5 years “Under The Scalpel Blade,” followed by a 4 song EP entitled Despicable (October 2020), setting a potent precedent for the full length album coming in September: "Torn Arteries." With the album title itself referencing an old demo created by original drummer Ken Owen back in the 80’s, "Torn Arteries" sits as a bookend on the modern side of the CARCASS discography, connecting directly back to where everything began over 30 years ago.

The album artwork also rings reminiscent of the grotesque photography that appears on classic CARCASS album covers like "Reek Of Putrefaction" of "Symphonies of Sickness." Artist Zbigniew Bielak traveled outside his normal wheelhouse to bring forth a time lapsed set of photos showing vegetables shaped like a heart, rotting over time upon a white plate. This form of artwork was influenced by Japanese Kusôzu, meaning: ‘painting of the nine stages of a decaying corpse.’

It’s very clean, white, which we’ve never done before,” explains vocalist and bassist Jeff Walker, “it doesn’t look evil, or typically death metal, but I like how clean it is; almost like a coffee table book.” This new album presents images, lyrics, and sounds that so distinctly scream CARCASS, but ferry us into a new era of production, songwriting, and art all together.

I think as our 7th album, it does stand out from the others both sonically and stylistically,” says Walker. “You can definitely tell that it’s CARCASS; when you drop that needle on the vinyl, when you hear that guitar tone, you can tell it’s Bill Steer, but each album is always a product of its time.

With "Torn Arteries," each track stands unique from the rest in its approach to guitar, bass, vocals and drumming, along with all the finer details. Filthy and dominating guitar work creates thick layers of tone and melody, piling on top of each other like the weight of dead flesh in tracks like “Kelly’s Meat Emporium.”

The working title for Kelly’s was originally ‘Stock Carcass,’” laughs Walker. We knew that one was a real meat and potatoes track for the album.” Meanwhile the relaxed tempo and catchy beat in “Dance of Ixtab” tell a robust and airier story, one that is certain to get a reaction from live crowds. “We built this song around the beat. We had an approach to each song that was a definite idea. It’s all about ‘what haven’t we done before?’”

Recording and Production for "Torn Arteries" wasn’t as simple as sitting down for a few weeks and knocking it all out, but rather spread out over the course of approximately 1 year bouncing back and forth between England and Sweden. Drummer Daniel Wilding recorded the drums in Sweden at Studio Gröndahl with David Castillo and afterwards Steer's guitars were recorded at The Stationhouse with James Atkinson in Leeds, England. Eventually needing some form of residential location to finalize vocals, bass, and other guitarwork, the band headed back to studio Gröndahl in Sweden to continue work in a very relaxed atmosphere with Castillo. “There was no real big plan to do it this way, the process just organically grew on its own,” says Walker.

Most will find that the only real struggle when indulging in "Torn Arteries" is fighting the desire to start it over the second it finishes. It covers substantial new ground for a band with such a reputation, while still retaining that addictive, time honored CARCASS sound that has come to represent the face of true death metal.

SLEEP TOKEN RELEASE THEIR MOST FRAGILE OFFERING YET WITH "FALL FOR ME"

THIS PLACE WILL BECOME YOUR TOMB OUT SEPTEMBER 24 VIA SPINEFARM

SLEEP TOKEN have released the video for "Fall For Me," the latest single from their forthcoming album This Place Will Become Your Tomb.

Watch the "Fall For Me" video below

"Fall For Me" arrives as a moment of pure emotional expression — the video is a visual manifestation. As fans are accustomed to, the song and video will receive no explanation from Sleep Token.

Sleep Token's second album This Place Will Become Your Tomb will be released on September 24 via Spinefarm. This new 12-track offering delves further into the enigmatic universe of Sleep Token, pushing boundaries and blurring genres, while retaining their signature sound.

Pre-orders for This Place Will Become Your Tomb are now live here, with an instant download of singles "Alkaline" and "The Love You Want," plus special bundle options, including limited vinyl, t-shirts, hoodies, and long-sleeves.

ABOUT SLEEP TOKEN:

Beneath the Sleep Token banner, lies the unique, broad-based vision of one individual — anonymous, silent, masked, armed with a staggering vocal range, a deft touch on the keyboards, plus a live approach that is never less than fully engaged. The UK underground entity only known as Sleep Token, fronted by Vessel, began the Sundowning ritual June 20, 2019 with "The Night Does Not Belong To God." Sleep Token began to release their "offerings" bi-weekly, released Thursday's at Sundown BST with accompanying visualizers. Each offering had its own emblem, establishing the Sleep Token universe on the debut album Sundowning. On June 18, 2021, the cycle began again but born anew. The new album This Place Will Become Your Tomb pushes the boundaries of Sleep Token's sound into new avenues of blurring genres while still retaining the signature sound.

SPINEFARM PRESS RELEASE: VRSTY Announce "Welcome Home" Out This November

New York City-based collective VRSTY (pronounced "Varsity") — Joey Varela [vocals], Javy Dorrejo [bass], Chris Cody [drums], and Paul Gregory [guitar] — have announced that their new album Welcome Home will arrive on November 19 via Spinefarm. Pre-order it here.

Watch the video for first single "Sick"

"I must be cursed to repeat cycles because 'Sick,' much like 'Shameless' from our EP, was the very last song written for the release," says Varela. "This song actually didn't exist until a few months after the record was pretty much done. It was also an incredibly different process writing this one. Instead of my usual approach of working with [producer] Andrew [Baylis], I also got to work with Kile Odell and Zach Williams before bringing Andrew into the mix. It's also one of the few songs that I've ever written where I'm just having fun singing about whatever random story pops into my head. Sometimes, music should just be fun. That's what I went for with this — and I'm glad I did."

Welcome Home is the band's debut full length for the label and follows last year's breakthrough Cloud City EP, which has accumulated six million streams in less than a year and yielded the head-turning singles "Shameless" and "Massive." The latter was the most played on SiriusXM's Octane for two weeks in a row in late 2020. VRSTY have perfected their seamless and fearless cross-pollination of metallic grooves and R&B-influenced, after midnight vocal swagger on this 14-track offering. VRSTY aren't just offering their own take on a genre; they have authored a fusion style that is entirely their own.

"Welcome Home is an incredibly personal album to me," Varela shares. "I know everybody says that, and hey, maybe they're not lying when they do. I sure as hell am not. It was definitely a task, at first, trying to figure out how to phrase or sing something without getting too personal. But somewhere along the way, I threw that idea out the window and decided to say exactly what I felt. You won't find me trying to sound cool or using any fancy wordplay. It's just me in my rawest form, saying exactly what I've felt or experienced over the years, which is what has made me who I am today. I think if anybody ever wants to get to know me, this record will give you everything you need to know. No secrets. Just me."

Generation Kill Releases Newest Track "Into The Black"

Generation Kill have today unleashed their music video for "Into The Black", taken from their forthcoming album 'MKUltra' via Blood Blast Distribution. Prior to today's release, the band has dropped their lead single "Never Relent" featuring incendiary guitarist Gary Holt, followed by the crushing track "Rat King". Speaking on today's release, frontman Rob Dukes commented:

"The story 'Eight O’Clock In The Morning' by Ray Nelson inspired the lyrics, and I watched a doc on "They Live" which took me down the rabbit hole of short stories and books so I took the idea and ran with it. The G Kill boys gave me a barn burner with a really cool ending to work with. Shooting the video was good fun, we had a blast hanging together and doing this. Hunter Chapman did a killer job and the bugs and heat didn’t deter us from having a blast."

Generation Kill is an American thrash metal band formed in New York City in 2008 by Rob Dukes (ex-Exodus). Dukes, on hiatus from touring with Exodus, wanted to funnel his excess creative energy and aggression into something new. After the inclusion of Jason Trenczer, Lou Lehman, and Sam Inzerra, the band began writing and recording their first album, "Red, White, & Blood”, featuring several hit singles including, “Feast for the Wolves” and “Hate” as well as a cover of the Nine Inch Nails track “Wish” which enjoyed heavy radio rotation.

Due to creative differences with Inzerra and the untimely death of guitarist Lou Lehman, Jay Velez and Jim DeMaria (Heathen) joined and began recording their sophomore album, "We're All Gonna Die" with renowned producer Zuess (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed). Shortly after its release, the band embarked on a European tour with fellow Exodus member Lee Altus’ band, Heathen. The album spawned several successful singles, including “Prophets of War” which went to number one on Sirius Liquid Metal’s “Dirty Dozen” and remained one of the top requested songs on the channel.

Following the success of their second album, drummer Rob Youells joined the band and they went into the studio, this time with Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal to record an album with founding member of Run-D.M.C, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels. The project was initially titled DMC Generation Kill before becoming its own entity, later renamed Fragile Mortals. Currently, the band is recording the follow-up to “We’re All Gonna Die”, teaming up once again with Zuess, Youells returning on the drums and with a new member, Max Velez on bass.

British Heavy Metal Legends VARDIS Announce Double Live Album 'Guaranteed No Overdubs'

In the 1970s, VARDIS’ relentless touring of the working men's clubs of Northern England took them to support slots with Hawkwind, Slade, Motörhead, and Saxon, emerging with a reputation for a unique heavy rock attack and high energy technical brilliance. On November 1st, 1980, Vardis’ live debut LP 100 M.P.H. entered UK Album Charts at #52and instantly became a foundational record of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The power trio’s fusion of fast punk rhythms, relentless heavy riffs, and blistering blues-rock solos echoes through Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All ('83) and Megadeth’s Killing Is My Business...and Business Is Good! ('85), and became an old school Heavy Metal classic.

Four studio albums, three compilations, and seven singles later, SPV/Steamhammerpresent to you the Vardis live experience on record for the first time since 1980: '100 M.P.H. @ 100 Club’. A new double live album recorded on March 13th, 2020, the 40th anniversary of 100 M.P.H., this blistering two-hour set includes every track from an album that led the way for Thrash, performed up close and personal by Steve Zodiac (Guitar, Vocals), Joe Clancy (Drums) and Roly Bailey (Bass) in London’s legendary 100 Club.

Indie Rock / Power Pop artist The Persian Leaps present ‘Sweeps’ ahead of ‘Drone Etiquette’ album

"Silky fuzz and solid hooks echo The Smiths, Orange Juice and Teenage Fanclub with great enthusiasm, and they never fail to recreate that celestial guitar jangle" NME Magazine

"While The Persian Leaps frontman wasn’t intentionally writing around politics, injustices, or the impending pandemic, some of those pent up agitations and reflections trickle out” ~ American Songwriter

"A little bit of R.E.M., a little bit Lemonheads. A dash of The Smiths, a hint of The Replacements. They appeal to fans of Throwing Muses and Tom Petty equally. They are the all-reaching, down to earth, good American indie rock that so many seek" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Unpretentious and infectious... vast riffs, euphonious vocals and pop sensibility. captivatingly pleasurable blustery indie rock"Louder Than War

"Truncated treatises in big-guitar post-punk power-pop"The Big Takeover

"Huge riffs echoing through your speakers, melodious vocals and the sort of pop sensibility we’ve come to expect from bands like Nada Surf"Austin Town Hall

mail-154.jpeg

As The Persian Leaps move closer to releasing their new 'Drone Etiquette' album, they present 'Sweeps', the second taster of the new release, following lead track 'When This Gets Out', a song born of frustration during the Trump presidency. The long-player will be released on October 1 via Land Ski Records.

Hailing from St.Paul - Minneapolis, The Persian Leaps has gone through various lineups but has always surrounded principal songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Drew Forsberg. Embedded on a magnetic alternative rock foundation, the latest musical output continues The Persian Leaps' tradition of producing power pop earworms with midwestern charm and an inherent element of 90s 'college rock'.

“The song ‘Sweeps’ uses the television industry as a metaphor for desperation and failure. I started with the main riff and these lines and then built a song around them: They decided when we leave / They’ll put the whole thing on TV / And the ratings will determine our return. I’m not sure if it still matters during the streaming era, but “sweeps week” was a period when broadcast television networks would go all-out to achieve the highest possible ratings so they could charge more for advertising. Sweeps inspired some cheap, crazy, desperate stunts over the years - like the “Happy Days” episode where Fonzi jumps over a shark on water skis, which led to the phrase “jump the shark,” says Drew Forsberg.

“The exact subject of the song is open for interpretation. I wasn’t thinking about a romantic relationship when writing this song, although you could certainly interpret it that way. Usually, however, these things are about the band and my struggles with success and achieving wider recognition for the Persian Leaps. That’s the story I’d like to go with—"last release, we were on top of the world but this time around, things aren’t going well and we’re one bad review away from cancellation.” Of course, we were never actually on top of the world, and the new EP is FANTASTIC, but I’m entitled to take some artistic license. Nevertheless, just to be safe, buy “Drone Etiquette” and help send our ratings through the roof.”

The band-name 'The Persian Leaps' came to Forsberg in a daydream during a college Greek Archaeology class. Writing solo music under that name for years, he finally assembled a band in 2012, releasing an EP every autumn until 2017. NME Magazine described their debut 'Praise Elephants' EP (2013) as “celestial guitar jangle”. From their sophomore 'Drive Drive Delay' EP in 2014 to their fifth 'Bicycle Face' EP, their music has been widely praised. Delivering one perfect power pop cocktail after another, they eventually released their 18-track 'Pop That Goes Crunch' anthology in 2018.

That year, the Leaps returned to their roots as a studio project, releasing the 'Electrical Living' LP in 2019 and the 'Smiling Lessons' EP in 2020 together with Jon Hunt, a musician and graphic designer who did the cover artwork for most of the band's releases to date. During the 2020-2021 pandemic, Forsberg recorded 'Drone Etiquette' EP as a solo effort, primarily due to lockdown limitations.

As of September 17, 'Sweeps' will be available exclusively via Bandcamp, where the lead single ‘When This Gets Out’ can already be found. On October 1, the full 'Drone Etiquette' album will be released on CD and online platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify. It is already available for pre-order via Bandcamp.

RISE OF THE NORTHSTAR - Share Energetic Live Video "Again And Again"

Today crossover metallers Rise Of The Northstar premiered a brand-new live video for "Again and Again"!

The band started a digital summer live show marathon on their YouTube Artist Channel, presenting a series of live videos emphasizing their many concerts and festival appearances and giving fans abroad a glimpse of what to expect in the future. The video from their hit-single "Again And Again" is the latest live cut to be released, recorded live at Hellfest in summer 2018.

"We've been happy to take our supporters on board for a blast from the past journey through our digital summer live show marathon. Closing it now with a festival like Hellfest was an obvious choice as it was one of the most tremendous ones we had before lockdown", comments the band.

"Again And Again" is from their internationally acclaimed debut album Welcame (2014). From their first tours of Europe with acts like Suicide Silence, Madball, or even Dir En Grey to support their debut record, up until a mainstage show at Download Festival in 2017, The Welcame cycle had taken the band to the most significant European stages and the Far East with two tours incorporating Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Indonesia.

In its original music video, the band demonstrated and pictured what it takes for an underdog to break into the music scene and industry back in 2015. Where the band commented about the video: "It comes through countless miles on the road, relentless touring, everywhere (Vithia's multiple injuries are a testimony of how hard it is to deliver what it takes to become established). Japanese culture comes into play as a focus driver for us; Be it the fictional world of Saint Seiya or the concrete universe of Onizuka and furyos, the philosophy displayed by our heroes is one of absolute tenacity and strength when facing challenges and adversity. Every time they fall to the ground, they manage to find that extra spark that makes them stand up, right back on their feet - Again and again" - RISE OF THE NORTHSTAR

UK power pop veterans The Speed of Sound release 'Museum of Tomorrow' LP, a sign of future times

"Their creative explosion is definitely worth it... The Speed of Sound are experts in balancing a raw and edgy sound with a guiding and invigorating sense of melody" ~ The Spill Magazine

“New Wave blood, powered by a heartbeat of 1960’s influences” ~ Louder Than War

"The thoughtfulness that goes into The Speed of Sound’s lyrics and music is precious. Unmistakable sound... a winning formula" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

“Distinctive traces of New York Art Rock and No Wave, often verging on the experimental and psychedelic while never losing its melody and infections catchiness” ~ Sounds

“Moody and intense, yet light and floating at the same time” ~ There Once Was A Note

Manchester-based indie rock stalwarts The Speed Of Sound unfurl their Future-Retro-Modernist flag and plant it firmly atop their ambitious (and fifth) full length album 'Museum of Tomorrow'. 32 years to the day when the band's debut EP saw the light of day in 1989, they will release this on CD and Deluxe LP via California's Big Stir Records.

The Speed Of Sound's music is optimistic and with lyrical bite, a punk-inspired DIY ethos and lust for experimentation rooted in psychedelia. Formed in 1989 with a pre-history dating back to the day Andy Warhol died in 1987, The Speed of Sound lies deep below the ‘music industry radar’, allowing for the evolution of their own distinctive sound and live act.

The line-up has changed over the years and today consists of father and son John Armstrong (guitars and vocals) and Henry Armstrong (keyboards), Ann-Marie Crowley (vocals and guitar), Kevin Roache (bass guitar) and John Broadhurst(drums).

'The Museum of Tomorrow' is an exhilarating nonstop sensory indulgence. A low-altitude magic carpet ride at breakneck speed over the insanity of the early 21st century, drenched in Science-Fiction and retro-futurist infused imagery and themes. Despite some dark subject matter, the lyrics are playful and as bright as coloured vinyl. This is the Museum Of Tomorrow - not a mere time-capsule or bleak survey of dystopian protest themes, but an immersive experience. Drunk with richness it hurtles on, twisting its many turns with subtlety; exhibiting mood, style and pace variance. The trajectory is laid in and the thrusters fire.

Earlier, the band previewed the lead track 'Tomorrow's World', highlighting how the entire 21st century was mis-sold - a cry of anguish and a re-statement of what should have been.

While The Speed of Sound has already released eight singles via Big Stir Records, 'Museum of Tomorrow' is an all-new experience, each song being single-worthy. Conceived as two seamless sides, the vinyl edition was mastered as two extended pieces - 'Gallery One' and 'Gallery Two'. Korg synthesizer lines, reminiscent of classic Science Fiction incidental music, link the gapless songs.

This is future retro modern music, having a definite 60’s influence but with an 80’s twist. With both female and male vocals, their sound is influenced by The Byrds, Small Faces, The Chords, Siouxsie & The Banshees and XTC. Merging the power of punk with floating harmonies, their sound and alphabetical order places them between Sonic Youth and Dusty Springfield.

On September 17, the 'Museum of Tomorrow' LP will be released digitally, on CD and limited-edition 170g heavy weight vinyl with a choice between black and glorious colour. Vinyl orders include a 16-page full-colour A5 printed Exhibition Guide containing lyrics, full-colour inner sleeve, a separate picture insert, a sticker, a pair of badges/buttons and a bookmark. Apart from platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, the LP can be ordered via Big Stir's website.

Alternative Folk-Rockers LUSITANIAN GHOSTS present 'Soul Deranium' from Nov. album (Portugal-Canada-Sweden)

"Lusitanian Ghosts impressively channel tools of the past to create a beautiful sonic vision for us listeners now. Innovative in their use of traditional instruments to make clearly modern pop-rock, this music is upbeat, quirky, feels familiar and is catchy as hell. The fact that this is entirely performed with traditional instruments is mind-boggling" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

mail-153.jpeg

Portuguese-Canadian-Swedish indie folk rock collective Lusitanian Ghosts will release their second album 'Exotic Quixotic' in November, recorded on analogue tape and mixed by Sebastian Muxfeldt (Elbow, Peter Doherty, Teenage Fanclub) at Hamburg's Clouds Hills Studios and featuring ancient Portuguese chordophones and other European string instruments.

Ahead of this, they present the 'Soul Deranium' single - a vibrant taster of the sonic prism through which they present ancient sounds in the 21st Century.

Re-casting heritage folk violas into rock and roll songs, the collective writes from a socio-political perspective about building a better world, creating songs from and for the heart and the mind. Their compositions mix indie songwriting with traditional Portuguese instruments like the Beiroa, Campaniça, Braguesa, Terceirense and Amarantina guitars – or violas as they are called in Portugal: each with its own string arrangements and tunings.

Founded in 2015, Lusitanian Ghosts are Neil Leyton, Mikael Lundin (a.k.a. Micke Ghost), João Sousa, Omiri, O Gajo, Abel Beja, Janne Olson and other artists that come and go within the collective. The genesis of the band happened when Neil Leyton brought Micke Ghost a Viola Amarantina from Lisbon to Stockholm, and their subsequently performance in Portugal, opening for Primitive Reason on the Ericeira beach.

Their debut self-titled album, recorded at Portugal's Canoa Studios and produced by Ricardo Ferreira, was a successful experiment in mixing the various regional Lusitanian (Portuguese) chordophones with what has come to be the band's unique brand of singer-songwriter rock n roll.

The feature documentary film 'Lusitanian Ghosts: Making Of the Lusitanian Ghosts debut album - Chordophone Rock n Roll' elucidates on why most of these Portuguese ancient instruments have become forgotten – almost extinct – over time. These historic instruments… they are the real Lusitanian Ghosts.

Whereas the first album features ancient Portuguese chordophones over a basic rock and roll setup of guitar, bass and drums, they’ve now totally done away with the guitars for the new album. This experimental folk-rock singer-songwriter record has only chordophones - the violas Amarantina, Braguesa, Terceira and Campaniça - along with bass and drums. Even the snare was replaced on many songs with the Adufe, a Portuguese square drum.

"Micke sang some great Swedish mambos over this tune, and asked me whether “Deranium” was actually a word in English. “Sure, why not?” I replied. If Marc Bolan can sing about Futuristic Dragons and Cosmic Dancers, I wanna open the album with a reverie song, about the killing of an evil President of the United States whilst engaging in ludicrous amounts of gun totin’ self-indulgent passion. All made up, of course. We don’t believe in killing anyone, most of the time. Outcomes, outcomes," says Neil Leyton.

"I guess after committing a crime that serious some kind of soul deranium must occur. It's a great opening track for the album. Sets the tone just right," says Micke Ghost.

"This is all Chordophone violas from Portugal - namely the viola Amarantina, Braguesa, Campaniça and Terceira, played by the Lusitanian Ghosts collective including Canadian-Portuguese artist Neil Leyton, Micke Ghost (the first Swede to play the viola Amarantina!), Vasco Ribeiro Casais aka OMIRI (Portugal), Abel Beja (USA/Portugal, viola Terceira from the Azores), João Sousa on drums (sometimes replacing the snare with the Portuguese square drum Adufe) and Jan-Eric Olson on bass. But not just bass! Janne borrowed O Gajo's viola Campaniça for some extra dark licks. Chordophone rock n roll, Alt-Folk, Urban-Country-Folk, however it gets labelled what should come across are the humanist messages in these songs."

'Soul Deranium' is out now, available everywhere online, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where the full 'Exotic Quixotic' album, slated for release on November 19, is already available for pre-order via the European Phonographic label. No six strings were harmed in the making of this record.

GOAT TORMENT Premieres New Song, "Disorder and Disruption"

Belgian blackened death metal outfit GOAT TORMENT will be releasing their third full-length, 'Forked Tongues,' on October 29 via Season of Mist Underground Activists! The band is now sharing the ripping second single from the offering, "Disorder and Disruption." Listen at THIS LOCATION.

"Forked Tongues" is available to pre-save across all streaming platforms HERE.

GOAT TORMENT comments on the track: "Here is our second promo track from the new album. 'Disorder and Disruption' is the annihilation of everything while all worlds shake into one. The speaking tongues resonate through the bowels of the earth and through the dwelling eternal fires. The kingdom's key has made its' turn and barriers are torn apart!"

Pre-sales are now live HERE.

The black metal crusaders in GOAT TORMENT return with 'Forked Tongues,' their first new album/release in over 6 years. A blast furnace of primal satanic fury, delivering a savage onslaught!

GOAT TORMENT was formed in 2008 by Kwel and K.J. with the intention to create music as a weapon of mass destruction and to annihilate everything which the so-called society stands for. For a start Kwel was supposed to play bass and K.J. would handle the vocals. But they didn’t find a guitarist who fitted with the ideology on a serious level. Thus Kwel decided to handle all the guitar parts and K.J.. started to play bass. After some months of research, the band recruited drummer Perversor. Then the band released a 4-track demo tape, released in 2009 through Terrorghoul Productions from Austria. The reactions were tremendous and bigger labels contacted the band interested to release the future offerings of GOAT TORMENT.

At this point, the band shared stages all over Europe with bands such as Grave Miasma, Hell Militia, Enthroned, Black Crucifixion, Black Witchery, The Devil’s blood…to name but a few. At the beginning of 2010 GOAT TORMENT had to part ways with drummer Perversor due to musical differences. During the early days of April 2010 a new burning entity was found: S. claimed the throne behind the battery. The Death wielding Trinity of GOAT TORMENT was complete. New songs were written, gigs were played and blood was shed.

Exactly one year later, the band entered the infamous Blackout Studio in Brussels (BE) to record some tracks for two upcoming releases: A 7” split EP with The Beast which was released at the beginning of 2012 and later that year another 7” EP , called “Into The Mouth of the Serpent”. Directly after the split EP was released, Kwel an S. decided to part ways with K.J.. due to different views about their future. In that moment GT decided to go on as a duet recruiting session members for live-shows.

The band returned to Blackout Studio in the fall of 2012 to record their first full-length album ‘Dominande Tenebrae’ ,which was released in February 2013 by Amor Fati Productions from Germany. After a year of a few European shows, the band had their first live appearance on American soil (Maryland Deathfest XII). The band had plans to go on as a four piece, but that didn’t work out because of different views. A South American tour was planned for August 2014 with the Belgian maniacs of ENTHRONED, but the two bands were forced to cancel one month before due to the irresponsible promoter.

In September 2014, S. decided to leave the band, due to other personal priorities and having no time anymore for drumming. It didn’t take long for Kwel to find somebody to take over the hammers. A new era began and Torturer (Mor Dagor, Bethlehem, ex-Belphegor) joined GOAT TORMENT as a new full member, so the duo was complete again. The band returned to Blackout Multimedia Studio in the beginning of 2015 to record their second full-length album.

In the summer of 2015, ‘Sermons To Death’ was released by Amor Fati Productions. The band toured the US West Coast in October 2015, accompanied by Saroth and Vagus Nox as live members. Shortly after, Vagus Nox joined forces to write new material. At the end of 2020, the third studio album ‘Forked Tongues’ had been completed.

The new offering delivers ultraheavy darkening passages that only serve to temper the relentless blasting speed. 'Forked Tongues' is musical punishment writ large, and sounds as if forged in the crucible of hell!

Symphonic Melodic Death Metal Force AEPHANEMER Unleashes New Album Details + First Single

A Dream Of Wilderness out November 19, 2021 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order HERE

Following their much-acclaimed 2019 album, Prokopton, November 19 will see Toulouse based symphonic melodic death metal force AEPHANEMER return with their third and thunderous full-length record, A Dream Of Wilderness, via Napalm Records!

Starting out as an unbelievably successful DIY ride that suddenly turned towards international acclaim, the indisputable AEPHANEMER is one of the most exciting melodic death metal sensations of the modern age. Fast-paced metal fronted by the guttural growls and fierce screams of extraordinary vocalist Marion Bascoul meet flickering twin leads, elements of Scandinavian death metal, Slavic traditional music and epic synths. If Prokopton was a noteworthy, impressive sophomore album from one of Europe’s best up and coming melodic death metal bands yet, A Dream Of Wilderness sees the French four-piece doubling down on its songwriting skills: Faster, tighter and heavier, AEPHANEMER’s upcoming album unleashes an anthemic adventure of brutally fast riffage and epic melodies!

As today’s first single release proves, A Dream Of Wilderness promises to be an exciting and refreshing mixture of metallic elements that are both technically superior and emotively rousing. “Panta Rhei” showcases the band’s ability to combine blistering, speedy riffs with a thrilling symphonic sound that takes you on a journey right into a melodic death metal fairy tale.

AEPHANEMER says:

"We are more than happy to finally unveil our new song and video: Panta Rhei! We are very excited as it is the very first glimpse at our new album, A Dream of Wilderness, to be released on November 19, 2021 through Napalm Records! We hope you will like it!"

Watch the new video for "Panta Rhei

AEPHANEMER doesn’t seem to fear boundaries. Their new album delivers a wide metal range that represents a dark and gloomier yet no less powerful side of the band, while otherworldly dimensions of blast beats, furious riffage and heavy, razor-sharp death metal anthems will have you headbanging as fast as you can. Especially in this day and age of staying "true" and limited within a sound and scene, A Dream Of Wilderness is a welcome diversion and a brave record artfully blending brutally fast symphonic death and raw melodic metal into a multi-faceted epic!

The record was mixed by Dan Swanö at Unisound AB, and mastered by Mika Jussila at the Finnvox Studios.
