Generation Kill Releases Newest Track "Into The Black"

Generation Kill have today unleashed their music video for "Into The Black", taken from their forthcoming album 'MKUltra' via Blood Blast Distribution. Prior to today's release, the band has dropped their lead single "Never Relent" featuring incendiary guitarist Gary Holt, followed by the crushing track "Rat King". Speaking on today's release, frontman Rob Dukes commented:

"The story 'Eight O’Clock In The Morning' by Ray Nelson inspired the lyrics, and I watched a doc on "They Live" which took me down the rabbit hole of short stories and books so I took the idea and ran with it. The G Kill boys gave me a barn burner with a really cool ending to work with. Shooting the video was good fun, we had a blast hanging together and doing this. Hunter Chapman did a killer job and the bugs and heat didn’t deter us from having a blast."

Generation Kill is an American thrash metal band formed in New York City in 2008 by Rob Dukes (ex-Exodus). Dukes, on hiatus from touring with Exodus, wanted to funnel his excess creative energy and aggression into something new. After the inclusion of Jason Trenczer, Lou Lehman, and Sam Inzerra, the band began writing and recording their first album, "Red, White, & Blood”, featuring several hit singles including, “Feast for the Wolves” and “Hate” as well as a cover of the Nine Inch Nails track “Wish” which enjoyed heavy radio rotation.

Due to creative differences with Inzerra and the untimely death of guitarist Lou Lehman, Jay Velez and Jim DeMaria (Heathen) joined and began recording their sophomore album, "We're All Gonna Die" with renowned producer Zuess (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed). Shortly after its release, the band embarked on a European tour with fellow Exodus member Lee Altus’ band, Heathen. The album spawned several successful singles, including “Prophets of War” which went to number one on Sirius Liquid Metal’s “Dirty Dozen” and remained one of the top requested songs on the channel.

Following the success of their second album, drummer Rob Youells joined the band and they went into the studio, this time with Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal to record an album with founding member of Run-D.M.C, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels. The project was initially titled DMC Generation Kill before becoming its own entity, later renamed Fragile Mortals. Currently, the band is recording the follow-up to “We’re All Gonna Die”, teaming up once again with Zuess, Youells returning on the drums and with a new member, Max Velez on bass.

British Heavy Metal Legends VARDIS Announce Double Live Album 'Guaranteed No Overdubs'

In the 1970s, VARDIS’ relentless touring of the working men's clubs of Northern England took them to support slots with Hawkwind, Slade, Motörhead, and Saxon, emerging with a reputation for a unique heavy rock attack and high energy technical brilliance. On November 1st, 1980, Vardis’ live debut LP 100 M.P.H. entered UK Album Charts at #52and instantly became a foundational record of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. The power trio’s fusion of fast punk rhythms, relentless heavy riffs, and blistering blues-rock solos echoes through Metallica’s Kill ‘Em All ('83) and Megadeth’s Killing Is My Business...and Business Is Good! ('85), and became an old school Heavy Metal classic.

Four studio albums, three compilations, and seven singles later, SPV/Steamhammerpresent to you the Vardis live experience on record for the first time since 1980: '100 M.P.H. @ 100 Club’. A new double live album recorded on March 13th, 2020, the 40th anniversary of 100 M.P.H., this blistering two-hour set includes every track from an album that led the way for Thrash, performed up close and personal by Steve Zodiac (Guitar, Vocals), Joe Clancy (Drums) and Roly Bailey (Bass) in London’s legendary 100 Club.

Indie Rock / Power Pop artist The Persian Leaps present ‘Sweeps’ ahead of ‘Drone Etiquette’ album

"Silky fuzz and solid hooks echo The Smiths, Orange Juice and Teenage Fanclub with great enthusiasm, and they never fail to recreate that celestial guitar jangle" NME Magazine

"While The Persian Leaps frontman wasn’t intentionally writing around politics, injustices, or the impending pandemic, some of those pent up agitations and reflections trickle out” ~ American Songwriter

"A little bit of R.E.M., a little bit Lemonheads. A dash of The Smiths, a hint of The Replacements. They appeal to fans of Throwing Muses and Tom Petty equally. They are the all-reaching, down to earth, good American indie rock that so many seek" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Unpretentious and infectious... vast riffs, euphonious vocals and pop sensibility. captivatingly pleasurable blustery indie rock"Louder Than War

"Truncated treatises in big-guitar post-punk power-pop"The Big Takeover

"Huge riffs echoing through your speakers, melodious vocals and the sort of pop sensibility we’ve come to expect from bands like Nada Surf"Austin Town Hall

mail-154.jpeg

As The Persian Leaps move closer to releasing their new 'Drone Etiquette' album, they present 'Sweeps', the second taster of the new release, following lead track 'When This Gets Out', a song born of frustration during the Trump presidency. The long-player will be released on October 1 via Land Ski Records.

Hailing from St.Paul - Minneapolis, The Persian Leaps has gone through various lineups but has always surrounded principal songwriter, vocalist and guitarist Drew Forsberg. Embedded on a magnetic alternative rock foundation, the latest musical output continues The Persian Leaps' tradition of producing power pop earworms with midwestern charm and an inherent element of 90s 'college rock'.

“The song ‘Sweeps’ uses the television industry as a metaphor for desperation and failure. I started with the main riff and these lines and then built a song around them: They decided when we leave / They’ll put the whole thing on TV / And the ratings will determine our return. I’m not sure if it still matters during the streaming era, but “sweeps week” was a period when broadcast television networks would go all-out to achieve the highest possible ratings so they could charge more for advertising. Sweeps inspired some cheap, crazy, desperate stunts over the years - like the “Happy Days” episode where Fonzi jumps over a shark on water skis, which led to the phrase “jump the shark,” says Drew Forsberg.

“The exact subject of the song is open for interpretation. I wasn’t thinking about a romantic relationship when writing this song, although you could certainly interpret it that way. Usually, however, these things are about the band and my struggles with success and achieving wider recognition for the Persian Leaps. That’s the story I’d like to go with—"last release, we were on top of the world but this time around, things aren’t going well and we’re one bad review away from cancellation.” Of course, we were never actually on top of the world, and the new EP is FANTASTIC, but I’m entitled to take some artistic license. Nevertheless, just to be safe, buy “Drone Etiquette” and help send our ratings through the roof.”

The band-name 'The Persian Leaps' came to Forsberg in a daydream during a college Greek Archaeology class. Writing solo music under that name for years, he finally assembled a band in 2012, releasing an EP every autumn until 2017. NME Magazine described their debut 'Praise Elephants' EP (2013) as “celestial guitar jangle”. From their sophomore 'Drive Drive Delay' EP in 2014 to their fifth 'Bicycle Face' EP, their music has been widely praised. Delivering one perfect power pop cocktail after another, they eventually released their 18-track 'Pop That Goes Crunch' anthology in 2018.

That year, the Leaps returned to their roots as a studio project, releasing the 'Electrical Living' LP in 2019 and the 'Smiling Lessons' EP in 2020 together with Jon Hunt, a musician and graphic designer who did the cover artwork for most of the band's releases to date. During the 2020-2021 pandemic, Forsberg recorded 'Drone Etiquette' EP as a solo effort, primarily due to lockdown limitations.

As of September 17, 'Sweeps' will be available exclusively via Bandcamp, where the lead single ‘When This Gets Out’ can already be found. On October 1, the full 'Drone Etiquette' album will be released on CD and online platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify. It is already available for pre-order via Bandcamp.

Today crossover metallers Rise Of The Northstar premiered a brand-new live video for "Again and Again"!

The band started a digital summer live show marathon on their YouTube Artist Channel, presenting a series of live videos emphasizing their many concerts and festival appearances and giving fans abroad a glimpse of what to expect in the future. "We've been happy to take our supporters on board for a blast from the past journey through our digital summer live show marathon. Closing it now with a festival like Hellfest was an obvious choice as it was one of the most tremendous ones we had before lockdown", comments the band.

In its original music video, the band demonstrated and pictured what it takes for an underdog to break into the music scene and industry back in 2015. Where the band commented about the video: "It comes through countless miles on the road, relentless touring, everywhere (Vithia's multiple injuries are a testimony of how hard it is to deliver what it takes to become established). UK power pop veterans The Speed of Sound release 'Museum of Tomorrow' LP, a sign of future times

"Their creative explosion is definitely worth it... The Speed of Sound are experts in balancing a raw and edgy sound with a guiding and invigorating sense of melody" ~ The Spill Magazine

“New Wave blood, powered by a heartbeat of 1960’s influences” ~ Louder Than War

"The thoughtfulness that goes into The Speed of Sound’s lyrics and music is precious. Unmistakable sound... a winning formula" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

“Distinctive traces of New York Art Rock and No Wave, often verging on the experimental and psychedelic while never losing its melody and infections catchiness” ~ Sounds

“Moody and intense, yet light and floating at the same time” ~ There Once Was A Note

Manchester-based indie rock stalwarts The Speed Of Sound unfurl their Future-Retro-Modernist flag and plant it firmly atop their ambitious (and fifth) full length album 'Museum of Tomorrow'. 32 years to the day when the band's debut EP saw the light of day in 1989, they will release this on CD and Deluxe LP via California's Big Stir Records.

The Speed Of Sound's music is optimistic and with lyrical bite, a punk-inspired DIY ethos and lust for experimentation rooted in psychedelia. Formed in 1989 with a pre-history dating back to the day Andy Warhol died in 1987, The Speed of Sound lies deep below the ‘music industry radar’, allowing for the evolution of their own distinctive sound and live act.

The line-up has changed over the years and today consists of father and son John Armstrong (guitars and vocals) and Henry Armstrong (keyboards), Ann-Marie Crowley (vocals and guitar), Kevin Roache (bass guitar) and John Broadhurst(drums).

'The Museum of Tomorrow' is an exhilarating nonstop sensory indulgence. A low-altitude magic carpet ride at breakneck speed over the insanity of the early 21st century, drenched in Science-Fiction and retro-futurist infused imagery and themes. Despite some dark subject matter, the lyrics are playful and as bright as coloured vinyl. This is the Museum Of Tomorrow - not a mere time-capsule or bleak survey of dystopian protest themes, but an immersive experience. Drunk with richness it hurtles on, twisting its many turns with subtlety; exhibiting mood, style and pace variance. The trajectory is laid in and the thrusters fire.

Earlier, the band previewed the lead track 'Tomorrow's World', highlighting how the entire 21st century was mis-sold - a cry of anguish and a re-statement of what should have been.

While The Speed of Sound has already released eight singles via Big Stir Records, 'Museum of Tomorrow' is an all-new experience, each song being single-worthy. Conceived as two seamless sides, the vinyl edition was mastered as two extended pieces - 'Gallery One' and 'Gallery Two'. Korg synthesizer lines, reminiscent of classic Science Fiction incidental music, link the gapless songs.

This is future retro modern music, having a definite 60’s influence but with an 80’s twist. With both female and male vocals, their sound is influenced by The Byrds, Small Faces, The Chords, Siouxsie & The Banshees and XTC. Merging the power of punk with floating harmonies, their sound and alphabetical order places them between Sonic Youth and Dusty Springfield.

On September 17, the 'Museum of Tomorrow' LP will be released digitally, on CD and limited-edition 170g heavy weight vinyl with a choice between black and glorious colour. Vinyl orders include a 16-page full-colour A5 printed Exhibition Guide containing lyrics, full-colour inner sleeve, a separate picture insert, a sticker, a pair of badges/buttons and a bookmark. Apart from platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, the LP can be ordered via Big Stir's website.

Alternative Folk-Rockers LUSITANIAN GHOSTS present 'Soul Deranium' from Nov. album (Portugal-Canada-Sweden)

"Lusitanian Ghosts impressively channel tools of the past to create a beautiful sonic vision for us listeners now. Innovative in their use of traditional instruments to make clearly modern pop-rock, this music is upbeat, quirky, feels familiar and is catchy as hell. The fact that this is entirely performed with traditional instruments is mind-boggling" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

mail-153.jpeg

Portuguese-Canadian-Swedish indie folk rock collective Lusitanian Ghosts will release their second album 'Exotic Quixotic' in November, recorded on analogue tape and mixed by Sebastian Muxfeldt (Elbow, Peter Doherty, Teenage Fanclub) at Hamburg's Clouds Hills Studios and featuring ancient Portuguese chordophones and other European string instruments.

Ahead of this, they present the 'Soul Deranium' single - a vibrant taster of the sonic prism through which they present ancient sounds in the 21st Century.

Re-casting heritage folk violas into rock and roll songs, the collective writes from a socio-political perspective about building a better world, creating songs from and for the heart and the mind. Their compositions mix indie songwriting with traditional Portuguese instruments like the Beiroa, Campaniça, Braguesa, Terceirense and Amarantina guitars – or violas as they are called in Portugal: each with its own string arrangements and tunings.

Founded in 2015, Lusitanian Ghosts are Neil Leyton, Mikael Lundin (a.k.a. Micke Ghost), João Sousa, Omiri, O Gajo, Abel Beja, Janne Olson and other artists that come and go within the collective. The genesis of the band happened when Neil Leyton brought Micke Ghost a Viola Amarantina from Lisbon to Stockholm, and their subsequently performance in Portugal, opening for Primitive Reason on the Ericeira beach.

Their debut self-titled album, recorded at Portugal's Canoa Studios and produced by Ricardo Ferreira, was a successful experiment in mixing the various regional Lusitanian (Portuguese) chordophones with what has come to be the band's unique brand of singer-songwriter rock n roll.

The feature documentary film 'Lusitanian Ghosts: Making Of the Lusitanian Ghosts debut album - Chordophone Rock n Roll' elucidates on why most of these Portuguese ancient instruments have become forgotten – almost extinct – over time. These historic instruments… they are the real Lusitanian Ghosts.

Whereas the first album features ancient Portuguese chordophones over a basic rock and roll setup of guitar, bass and drums, they’ve now totally done away with the guitars for the new album. This experimental folk-rock singer-songwriter record has only chordophones - the violas Amarantina, Braguesa, Terceira and Campaniça - along with bass and drums. Even the snare was replaced on many songs with the Adufe, a Portuguese square drum.

"Micke sang some great Swedish mambos over this tune, and asked me whether “Deranium” was actually a word in English. “Sure, why not?” I replied. If Marc Bolan can sing about Futuristic Dragons and Cosmic Dancers, I wanna open the album with a reverie song, about the killing of an evil President of the United States whilst engaging in ludicrous amounts of gun totin’ self-indulgent passion. All made up, of course. We don’t believe in killing anyone, most of the time. Outcomes, outcomes," says Neil Leyton.

"I guess after committing a crime that serious some kind of soul deranium must occur. It's a great opening track for the album. Sets the tone just right," says Micke Ghost.

"This is all Chordophone violas from Portugal - namely the viola Amarantina, Braguesa, Campaniça and Terceira, played by the Lusitanian Ghosts collective including Canadian-Portuguese artist Neil Leyton, Micke Ghost (the first Swede to play the viola Amarantina!), Vasco Ribeiro Casais aka OMIRI (Portugal), Abel Beja (USA/Portugal, viola Terceira from the Azores), João Sousa on drums (sometimes replacing the snare with the Portuguese square drum Adufe) and Jan-Eric Olson on bass. But not just bass! Janne borrowed O Gajo's viola Campaniça for some extra dark licks. Chordophone rock n roll, Alt-Folk, Urban-Country-Folk, however it gets labelled what should come across are the humanist messages in these songs."

'Soul Deranium' is out now, available everywhere online, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where the full 'Exotic Quixotic' album, slated for release on November 19, is already available for pre-order via the European Phonographic label. No six strings were harmed in the making of this record.

GOAT TORMENT Premieres New Song, "Disorder and Disruption"

Belgian blackened death metal outfit GOAT TORMENT will be releasing their third full-length, 'Forked Tongues,' on October 29 via Season of Mist Underground Activists! The band is now sharing the ripping second single from the offering, "Disorder and Disruption." Listen at THIS LOCATION.

"Forked Tongues" is available to pre-save across all streaming platforms HERE.

GOAT TORMENT comments on the track: "Here is our second promo track from the new album. 'Disorder and Disruption' is the annihilation of everything while all worlds shake into one. The speaking tongues resonate through the bowels of the earth and through the dwelling eternal fires. The kingdom's key has made its' turn and barriers are torn apart!"

Pre-sales are now live HERE.

The black metal crusaders in GOAT TORMENT return with 'Forked Tongues,' their first new album/release in over 6 years. A blast furnace of primal satanic fury, delivering a savage onslaught!

GOAT TORMENT was formed in 2008 by Kwel and K.J. with the intention to create music as a weapon of mass destruction and to annihilate everything which the so-called society stands for. For a start Kwel was supposed to play bass and K.J. would handle the vocals. But they didn’t find a guitarist who fitted with the ideology on a serious level. Thus Kwel decided to handle all the guitar parts and K.J.. started to play bass. After some months of research, the band recruited drummer Perversor. Then the band released a 4-track demo tape, released in 2009 through Terrorghoul Productions from Austria. The reactions were tremendous and bigger labels contacted the band interested to release the future offerings of GOAT TORMENT.

At this point, the band shared stages all over Europe with bands such as Grave Miasma, Hell Militia, Enthroned, Black Crucifixion, Black Witchery, The Devil’s blood…to name but a few. At the beginning of 2010 GOAT TORMENT had to part ways with drummer Perversor due to musical differences. During the early days of April 2010 a new burning entity was found: S. claimed the throne behind the battery. The Death wielding Trinity of GOAT TORMENT was complete. New songs were written, gigs were played and blood was shed.

Exactly one year later, the band entered the infamous Blackout Studio in Brussels (BE) to record some tracks for two upcoming releases: A 7” split EP with The Beast which was released at the beginning of 2012 and later that year another 7” EP , called “Into The Mouth of the Serpent”. Directly after the split EP was released, Kwel an S. decided to part ways with K.J.. due to different views about their future. In that moment GT decided to go on as a duet recruiting session members for live-shows.

The band returned to Blackout Studio in the fall of 2012 to record their first full-length album ‘Dominande Tenebrae’ ,which was released in February 2013 by Amor Fati Productions from Germany. After a year of a few European shows, the band had their first live appearance on American soil (Maryland Deathfest XII). The band had plans to go on as a four piece, but that didn’t work out because of different views. A South American tour was planned for August 2014 with the Belgian maniacs of ENTHRONED, but the two bands were forced to cancel one month before due to the irresponsible promoter.

In September 2014, S. decided to leave the band, due to other personal priorities and having no time anymore for drumming. It didn’t take long for Kwel to find somebody to take over the hammers. A new era began and Torturer (Mor Dagor, Bethlehem, ex-Belphegor) joined GOAT TORMENT as a new full member, so the duo was complete again. The band returned to Blackout Multimedia Studio in the beginning of 2015 to record their second full-length album.

In the summer of 2015, ‘Sermons To Death’ was released by Amor Fati Productions. The band toured the US West Coast in October 2015, accompanied by Saroth and Vagus Nox as live members. Shortly after, Vagus Nox joined forces to write new material. At the end of 2020, the third studio album ‘Forked Tongues’ had been completed.

The new offering delivers ultraheavy darkening passages that only serve to temper the relentless blasting speed. 'Forked Tongues' is musical punishment writ large, and sounds as if forged in the crucible of hell!

Symphonic Melodic Death Metal Force AEPHANEMER Unleashes New Album Details + First Single

A Dream Of Wilderness out November 19, 2021 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order HERE

Following their much-acclaimed 2019 album, Prokopton, November 19 will see Toulouse based symphonic melodic death metal force AEPHANEMER return with their third and thunderous full-length record, A Dream Of Wilderness, via Napalm Records!

Starting out as an unbelievably successful DIY ride that suddenly turned towards international acclaim, the indisputable AEPHANEMER is one of the most exciting melodic death metal sensations of the modern age. Fast-paced metal fronted by the guttural growls and fierce screams of extraordinary vocalist Marion Bascoul meet flickering twin leads, elements of Scandinavian death metal, Slavic traditional music and epic synths. If Prokopton was a noteworthy, impressive sophomore album from one of Europe’s best up and coming melodic death metal bands yet, A Dream Of Wilderness sees the French four-piece doubling down on its songwriting skills: Faster, tighter and heavier, AEPHANEMER’s upcoming album unleashes an anthemic adventure of brutally fast riffage and epic melodies!

As today’s first single release proves, A Dream Of Wilderness promises to be an exciting and refreshing mixture of metallic elements that are both technically superior and emotively rousing. “Panta Rhei” showcases the band’s ability to combine blistering, speedy riffs with a thrilling symphonic sound that takes you on a journey right into a melodic death metal fairy tale.

AEPHANEMER says:

"We are more than happy to finally unveil our new song and video: Panta Rhei! We are very excited as it is the very first glimpse at our new album, A Dream of Wilderness, to be released on November 19, 2021 through Napalm Records! We hope you will like it!"

Watch the new video for "Panta Rhei

AEPHANEMER doesn’t seem to fear boundaries. Their new album delivers a wide metal range that represents a dark and gloomier yet no less powerful side of the band, while otherworldly dimensions of blast beats, furious riffage and heavy, razor-sharp death metal anthems will have you headbanging as fast as you can. Especially in this day and age of staying "true" and limited within a sound and scene, A Dream Of Wilderness is a welcome diversion and a brave record artfully blending brutally fast symphonic death and raw melodic metal into a multi-faceted epic!

The record was mixed by Dan Swanö at Unisound AB, and mastered by Mika Jussila at the Finnvox Studios.

Earlier this year, Death From Above 1979 released their highly anticipated fourth studio album, Is 4 Lovers.

To record this album, the pair locked themselves away for several weeks in a single room basement in Los Angeles' Highland Park to see what would happen and eventually emerged with the purest distillation yet of the power, precision, and nuanced personality at the heart of DFA's unique and influential vision. Written, recorded, produced, and mastered by the duo, their fourth album was born, and DFA has never sounded more assuredly like itself than it does on Is 4 Lovers.

To support the album, Death from Above 1979 will embark on an expansive North American tour, with dates in March and April 2022. Full tour dates, including the band's planned 2021 festival appearances, can be found below.

DFA roared out of Toronto with the uncompromising one-two punch of 2002's fuzz-bomb EP Heads Up and 2004's epochal debut album You’re a Woman, I'm a Machine, complete with a North American arena tour with Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age, before deciding mid-tour to part ways due to the strain of constantly touring. Almost a decade later, the rekindled DFA fireworks lit stages around the world a blaze — amassing a posse of fans so passionate they incited a genuine, barricade-smashing riot at Austin's Beauty Bar at the 2011 South by Southwest festival. Playing Lollapalooza, Coachella, Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, Osheaga, Lowlands, and more, DFA continued to take the world by storm. Their second album, The Physical World (2014), took a No. 3 spot on the Canadian Billboard album chart and peaked at No. 28 on the U.S. Hot 200, not to mention No. 3 and No. 7 spots on Billboard's Top Alternative and Top Rock registries, respectively. Arriving at No. 20 on the Canadian Billboard album chart, DFA's scorching 2017 outing, Outrage! Is Now, prompted Pitchfork to remark that "Death From Above now sounds more vital than ever."

Fans can hear Death from Above 1979's cover of "Don't Stop Believin'" on the Rock Scene playlist, or by simply asking, "Alexa play the Amazon Original song from Death from Above 19790" in the Amazon Music app for iOS and Android and on Alexa-enabled devices. Harry Stafford and Marco Butcher present protest-infused 'Bone Architecture', title track from their new album

“Unapologetically weaving their way through varied genres, Stafford & Butcher’s bluesy story-based music is raw around the edges, while sucking you willingly inside – a sonic diamond in the rough, so to speak" ~ The Spill Magazine

"The symmetry between the two artists is remarkable... a refreshing track, meshing the grit of blues with an urban thematic. This is dirty but agreeable, weaving straightforward guitar work through the prism of a junkyard instrument approach. Goes down smooth like a good shot of bourbon" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Right from the introduction, one is reminded of Lynch’s Twin Peaks and, at the same time, the opening beats of Tones on Tail’s “Happiness,” before you’re thrust into jazzy blues territory" ~ Stereo Embers Magazine

Manchester indie music stalwart and Inca Babies frontmen Harry Stafford and US-based Brazilian guitarist Marco Butcher present their new video for ‘Bone Architecture’ from the album of the same name, which the duo released several weeks ago.

‘Bone Architecture’ is a song about being caught in a riot. It could be an Extension Rebellion Riot, a poll tax riot or even the Peterloo massacre of 1819. Harry’s film puts him as a broadcaster reporting on events that happened. But because he doesn’t mince his words, he tells it in a bloody and visceral way. As humans when our bodies are broken and bruised by the police batons it’s our ‘bone architecture’ that is smashed and broken.

The video was shot on the streets of Manchester, where the riots may or may not have happened. This is a piece with drums, piano and trumpet – dub jazz – and a fitting sampler of the full ‘Bone Architecture’ album with Harry Stafford on piano and vocals, Marco Butcher on drums, and London's Kevin Davy on trumpet.

Despite the distance, Stafford and Butcher are punk soul brothers from the same muddy musical pond. Connecting during a year of ‘lockdown hell’ inadvertently led to their collaboration. Marco's tracks were recorded at his Boombox Studio.

“There’s something about collaborating that is pure magic to me, cause you're not sharing ideas at the same time and you're in the moment. There’s something about the not knowing what the other will bring . . the surprise factor. The fact that music is very elastic and not always the way ya listen to it in your mind but something else, something cooler, greater," says Marco Butcher.

'Bone Architecture' is a superb collection of songs that is raw and, at times, an unforgiving forage into urban punk blues with fuzzed up jazz and garage trash rock. Here, Harry and Marco’s styles have clashed magnificently into a powerful record that crosses a multitude of genres but with a dirty blues makeover. The LP includes reworked older material, brand-new compositions and even a dirty blues version of the Pink Floyd classic 'Arnold Layne'.

Earlier, Stafford and Butcher released singles 'Termite City' and 'There's Someone Tryin' To Get In', which has garnered the duo press attention and airplay in several dozen countries.

Best known as founder, guitarist and vocalist of Manchester post-punk gothic rockers Inca Babies, Harry’s two most recent solo albums ('Guitar Shaped Hammers' and 'Gothic Urban Blues') reflect a cooler, less frenetic vibe, leaning on piano, trumpets and blues guitar. All this made him the perfect collaborator to set words and lyrics to Marco’s sonic backdrop.

From Sao Paulo, Marco Butcher now lives in Winston Salem, North Carolina. A prolific artist, his acts include The Jam Messengers, Chicken Snake, and The Jesus and The Groupies. Professing the American underground of blues, jazz, rockabilly and screaming punk blues, he has collaborated with Hugo Race and members of Tex and the Horseheads, Pussy Galore, Gumball, The Gories, Gibson Brothers, Jerry Teel, The Oblivians and The Workdogs.

The 'Bone Architecture' album is out now, released on CD and digitally everywhere online, including Spotify and Apple Music. Both formats can be ordered via Bandcamp and the Louder than War shop.

The Dead Daisies hit the stage with “Unspoken” from their newest album Holy Ground. This was a classic rock n roll show, drum solo included. Solid performance but the highlight was seeing Glen Hughes sing “Burn”. For those of us old enough to remember, it was a trip down memory lane. For those of you just catching on, listen and learn. This is how a rock n roll show should be done. Catch them when you can!

CYNIC Reveals New Album Details, Shares First Single

Progressive rock legend CYNIC will be releasing its highly-anticipated new full-length, 'Ascension Codes,' on November 26 via Season of Mist!Cynic's Ascension Codes is a remarkably far-reaching work, and if nothing else, a clear indication that they have landed in a place of mastery. The album, paradoxically, acts as both swan song and rebirth. The band is now sharing the mind-bending first single, "Mythical Serpents," which can be heard below.

Track six, "Mythical Serpents," is imbued with propellant adventure, exciting peaks and valleys that tug at the heart while its mathematical sequences challenge the head in a dizzying push/pull dynamic. It’s that quintessential Cynic approach of kaleidoscopic intensity and mannered discipline. Ascension Codes was mixed and co-produced by Warren Riker, who worked with Aeon Spoke, Cynic in the Traced in Air era and mixed Paul Masvidal’s solo acoustic trilogy.

CYNIC mastermind Paul Masivdal comments: "I invite you to sit back, close your eyes, and listen to 'Mythical Serpents' as a fully realized piece of music. No phones or screens necessary, just the power of sound communicating directly into the ears of your heart. In the coming weeks, Cynic will be revealing further details on the constellation that is 'Ascension Codes', including a 'Mythical Serpents' animated video, featuring the artwork of Martina Hoffmann & Robert Venosa. Stay tuned."

Michael Berberian, president and founder of Season of Mist, adds: “I have, by now, released close to one thousand albums. None have been more dramatic, none have even been more difficult than this one. I can’t listen to Ascension Codes without goosebumps, a mixed feeling of pride – because it’s a musical milestone, but it also contains a lingering layer of sadness. I hear Paul’s pain on this record. I can feel it, I can touch it. But it’s transcended. 'Art is to console those who are broken by life,' said Van Gogh. Here is a demonstration of that.”

Pre-orders for 'Ascension Codes' are now live at the Season of Mist E-Shop, the CYNIC Bandcamp, and official CYNIC shop.

ICYMI: Masvidal recently shared a touching tribute to late bassist Sean Malone, who died on December 7, 2020. To commemorate Malone's legacy, CYNIC has released a never-before-heard recorded performance of the song "Integral," in which Malone performs fretless bass. "Integral" was originally released as a solo guitar and vocal track on Cynic's 'Re-Traced' EP. The emotional tribute can be found at THIS LOCATION.

As an act of support, CYNIC is inviting fans to donate as you wish for the "Integral" song download, which comes with a guitar/bass transcription of the song and an instrumental (no bass mix) to play along with. 50 percent of proceeds will be shared with suicide prevention organizations: To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) and The Trevor Project. The remaining will go towards funding a documentary about the lives and artistry of Sean Malone and Sean Reinert.

Attainment

Cynic’s continual state of development has met its share of challenges over the years, hurdles that threatened to dismantle the entity’s forward surge. Yet through hurricanes, breakups, and assorted acrimony both personal and existential, it remains inspired to create.

Their name is synonymous with what it means to be truly progressive in music. Cynic’s top-tier performance acumen and cerebral/spiritual/yogic themes finds them inhabiting a corner of the musical spectrum all their own. Their Venn diagram shows intersections with death metal, prog rock, thrash metal, experimental, new age, jazz fusion, and a myriad of other sonic expressions.

Debut album, Focus (1993), is a certified classic. Although that era ended with transformation into the short-lived Portal, and then a further splinter toward Aeon Spoke, Cynic’s reunion-era has found them embraced in a way that proves how ahead of the times they were in the ‘90s. Through monuments such as the Traced in Air (2008) and Kindly Bent to Free Us (2014) albums, the Carbon-Based Anatomy and Re-Traced EPs, and a surprising rebirth with the “Humanoid” single of 2018, the Cynic legacy remains untarnished. Yet early in the creation cycle for their fourth full-length album, they experienced horrible events that tested the entity’s resolve.

Ascension

The year 2020 will go down in history as a tremendously difficult time for the global human population. For the Cynic family, the struggle was not restricted to a pandemic. It was two utterly senseless losses that threw the band’s immediate concerns into the background: the premature deaths of drummer Sean Reinert in January, at age 48, and bassist Sean Malone in December, at age 50, were shocking and unthinkable.

Reinert, a founding Cynic member since formation in 1988, was highly influential to a multitude of young drummers. His work on 1993’s Focus and Death’s watershed 1991 album, Human, found him sculpting extreme technical metal with a jazz fusion-inspired approach. Now taken for granted, that approach to the instrument and the genre was undoubtedly pioneered in large part by Reinert. Though parting with Cynic in 2015, his imprint on Cynic is inescapable.

The death of Sean Malone dealt another horrible layer of tragedy to Cynic’s 2020. In his many years with the band, Malone’s virtuoso playing meshed intuitively with Reinert’s. Together they formed a nucleus of kinetic, highly capable rhythmic dexterity that fueled Cynic’s celestial aims.

One of these deaths would have seemed unimaginable by itself. Both of them, in the same year, nearly broke surviving member Paul Masvidal. But the seeds of a fourth Cynic full- length existed long before the deaths, and the guitarist, through a haze of grief and disbelief, pushed forward. “I wanted to make this record right after Kindly Bent to Free Us,” says Masvidal. “I was raring to go, hyper-creative, in this total flow state. And then it all imploded.”

Parts of songs were in the gestation process as early as 2014. Masvidal says that Reinert and Malone heard elements of what ended up on the fourth album. Slowly, methodically, and with much careful deliberation, Masvidal eventually completed an album titled Ascension Codes, to honor the memory of his fallen band mates. And while the album honors the lives and contributions of Reinert and Malone, it also pushes Cynic forward for its own sake and through its own will to live. The album, paradoxically, acts as both swan song and rebirth. It is, throughout its 49 minutes, a vivid and highly cosmic journey into the very core of every impulse this band has ever explored.

Offering

As of 2021, the future of Cynic is unclear. Does Ascension Codes mark their final phase of growth? Surely the music finds them laying out a most ambitious trail of spiritual sonic travel, but to call any Cynic album “ambitious” is redundant. They are, by their very nature, an ambitious band. Yet Ascension Codes is a remarkably far-reaching work. Its nine main songs are infused with explosions of color and energy, and throughout these compositions are embedded the “codes”: “Mu-54*,” “A’-va432,” “Ha-144” and so on.

Though clearly an album best listened to in its entirety without distraction, for full impact, there are definitive Cynic songs here that stand strong on their own. “Mythical Serpents” is imbued with propellant adventure, exciting peaks and valleys that tug at the heart while its mathematical sequences challenge the head in a dizzying push/pull dynamic. It’s that quintessential Cynic approach of kaleidoscopic intensity and mannered discipline.

“Diamond Light Body” brings the album to a crashing close – heavy and celestial, with some melodic sequences that feel like new territory for Cynic. An incredibly dense song with inhuman patterns from Lynch, the song’s beautiful urgency and final moments push the album outward into the heavens: “I won't feed the fear / I’ll choose a different timeline / Ascend / All is flux, nothing stands still / Ascend.”

The expanded Cynic collective maintains focus on Masvidal’s vision, each human element adding to the compelling overall result. Truly, if this is to be the final artistic stroke by Cynic, then they have landed in a place of mastery. The stories told by Focus, Traced in Air, and Kindly Bent to Free Us are now completed with Ascension Codes.

Ascension Codes is perhaps the most ethereal sounding Cynic album to date, but also skews heavier than previous album Kindly Bent to Free Us. The expanded lineup is surely responsible for the album’s far-reaching scope.

After Sean Reinert’s exit from Cynic in 2015, Masvidal and Malone recruited drummer Matt Lynch. Found through a tip from Between the Buried and Me’s Dan Briggs, Lynch proved to be a perfect addition to the band. As Masvidal notes, Lynch’s “hybrid modern style is like a fusion of drum and bass electronic music influences combined with modern jazz/prog approaches. Lynch is a true original in that he's a fully realized drummer constructing his parts as carefully as any other compositional element always is on a Cynic record. Every single accent and note coming from him is birthed from a precise and inspired place.” We hear this throughout Ascension Codes, pushing the music along with finesse, adding shape and texture in ways only the most sensitive drummers can do.

But how to replace Sean Malone on bass? Masvidal’s answer: don’t even try. The lines of bass notes heard throughout Ascension Codes are performed on bass synthesizer by keyboardist Dave Mackay. A British pianist, writer, producer and Moog/vintage synth enthusiast, Mackay has toured with everyone from Art Garfunkel to Plini (the latter providing the initial introduction between Mackay and Masvidal). Based in Los Angeles and London, Mackay’s work is sensitive to Malone’s touch, while also adding a throbbing intensity that offers Cynic new low-end possibilities. “He's got a vast jazz harmonic vocabulary,” notes Masvidal, “which is what's needed in the context of Cynic's music, especially for bass lines. I knew that I could never replace Malone. Anyone I would find would be expected to play like him, and that's not fair to another musician. And things were too fresh for me with the loss of Malone, so I had to go somewhere new. With Mackay, I heard his groovy left-hand approach, and how musical he was across the board having played with a variety of musicians and styles. I realized he would bring something fresh to the table, and he provided a space for me to start again with a completely different instrument and forgo any traditional ideas I had about what Cynic bass lines should sound like.

Ultimately Mackay delivered above and beyond, with a real awareness of a bass player's role in a progressive trio context. First, by holding down the harmony and being “in the pocket,” while also creating an independent and dynamic voice within that space. Mackay has a rare combination of skills and the vibe he locked into with Lynch with sounds like a rhythm section from the future. Plus, his Moog synth tone offers a low-end depth that’s never been heard in our recordings.” On December 5, 2019, Dave Mackay shared the stage with Paul Masvidal for a performance of the guitarist’s solo material. On bass that evening was Sean Malone. After the gig, Malone told Masvidal, “We should bring Mackay in for the new record.”

Michael Berberian, president and founder of Season of Mist Records remained close to Masvidal throughout the 2020 losses of his bandmates. Michael states “I have, by now, released close to one thousand albums. ‘Art is to console those who are broken by life,’ said Van Gogh. Here is a demonstration of that.”

Ascension Codes was mixed and co-produced by Warren Riker, who worked with Aeon Spoke, Cynic in the Traced in Air era, and mixed Paul Masvidal’s solo acoustic trilogy. “Riker’s a wizard who gets inside the music and commits. He expands boundaries as a mixer, always finding new ways to push the sonic envelope,” says Masvidal.

Keeping things in the family, Martina Hoffmann’s original painting entitled ‘The Landing’ graces Cynic's new album Ascension Codes with breathtaking scope and presence. The visionary work inspired by Martina's time walking the beaches of Brittany, France after the death of her longtime partner, the artist Robert Venosa (whose artwork adorns all Cynic releases between 1993 and 2018) followed by the loss of her mother, the subject of the piece features the arrival of a great mothership made of light and flesh, not machine but an organic entity that has brought hope and infinite possibilities. Masvidal says of Hoffmann, “Martina’s art has always held a special place in my heart, and I'm deeply grateful for her love and support. When I first contacted Venosa as a teenager, it was Martina who encouraged him to lend his work to the band, because she heard something in our music. She is like the divine mother in this Cynic/ Venosa lineage," Masvidal says. "Her spirit and multidimensional talents are truly a gift to this world. I feel that she is one of the great artistic voices of our age."

The struggle to attain ascension is as important as ascension itself. And after much searching, Cynic have again achieved oneness with the numinous. At a time of possible exit for the entity, Ascension Codes is Cynic reaching a previously-unknown state of enlightenment.

Credits and Lineup:

With Masvidal, Lynch and Mackay at the core, Cynic utilized a variety of other artists to help achieve their vision for Ascension Codes, some of the key players include:

DARK (Roopam Garg) performs as “code worker” on the album, providing harmonic, harp-like guitar textures. DARK also known for his other works with “The Surrealist” is an experimental, ambient artist, pushing the avant-garde guitar envelope using extended techniques and consciousness inspired soundscapes.

Max Phelps contributes “holographic-reptilian-voices” on multiple tracks. Phelps toured with Cynic in the Carbon-Based Anatomy and Kindly Bent to Free Useras, and his own progressive metal band, Exist, have released music on Prosthetic Records. Phelps also took part in Death tribute band, Death to All.

Plini guest solos on “The Winged Ones.” Plini is an an Australian guitarist and composer, producing heart-fueled, progressive instrumental rock. He opened shows for Cynic in Japan, which happened to be their final live performances as a trio with Reinert/Malone.

Additional contributors:

Anrita Melchizedek is a renowned priestess, healer, galactic ambassador, among other pursuits, and provides vocals to the opening and closing code interludes (“Mu-54*” and “Ec-ka72”). Amy Correia and Joshua Leon vocalize light language and phrases on various code interludes. Amy appeared on Traced in Air and 2011’s Carbon-Based Anatomy EP,and plays with Masvidal in the Onward with Love (OwL) project. Michael Devin plays crystal bowls on some of the code interludes. Devin is also a bassist and has played with the Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Evening, George Lynch, and Whitesnake. Ezekiel Kaplan contributed a vocal harmony to the final track “Diamond Light Body.”

Relevance. It is one of the most innate human desires; to know that we are not alone and that others go through the same struggles. This is why the Texas-based band, Kingdom Collapse, is carving out their spot in the rock world. They seek to give a voice to people who share similar troubles and crave relevancy in an apathetic world.

The world responded to a relevant theme of betrayal when their first single, “Suffer,” amassed over 7,000,000 YouTube views and 1,100,000 Spotify streams organically. The group’s 2020 hit radio single, “Uprise,” broke into the Billboard Mainstream Rock Top 40 as well as the Mediabase Active Rock charts for 9 weeks straight. “Uprise” went on to become Sirius XM Octane’s #1 Most Played song for two consecutive weeks and has since accumulated over 2,000,000 Spotify streams, tipping the band’s total stream count over 6.5 million.

The group features Jonathan Norris on vocals, David Work on guitar, Aaron Smith on bass and Elijah Santucci on drums. Together, with a mutual vision, they are bringing their shared experiences to the masses and looking to help as many people as they can with a feeling of solidarity.

The band’s 2021 follow-up radio single, “Unbreakable,” is an anthem that is emotionally honest and relevant to today's times. Written and produced by lead singer, Jonathan Norris and mixed/mastered by Chris Mora of War Horse Recordings, it sends a positive message to listeners by teaching that even life’s hardest moments can be a benefit. Norris writes, “‘Unbreakable’ comes from a lyrical standpoint of looking back at various struggles that life has thrown at you and coming to realize that those struggles ultimately made you stronger. We’ve all been there, and it’s about finding the silver lining in the midst of dark times.”

Kingdom Collapse has been playing stages across the US and has already shared the stage with the likes of 10 YearsFrom Ashes To NewColdRedSaliva and many other hard rock heavy-hitters. In May of 2021 the band signed with one of the leading booking agencies in the industry, Dynamic Talent International, and will be announcing more tour dates soon.

Black/Death Metal Veterans THULCANDRA Return with New Studio Album, “A Dying Wish”

Out October 29, 2021 via Napalm Records Pre-Order Starts NOW!

Watch/Listen to Official Music Video and New Single "Funeral Pyre", below.

Black/death metal veterans THULCANDRA are back! After six years of silence, the band’s brand new studio album, A Dying Wish, will be released on October 29, 2021 via Napalm Records – once again carrying the burning torch of the glorious death metal era.

Since their foundation by Obscura mastermind Steffen Kummerer in 2003, THULCANDRA became an indispensable protagonist in the European extreme metal-sphere that reaches way back to the magnificent origins of their genre. THULCANDRA are musically and visually shaped by bands like Entombed, Sacramentum and Unanimated, but mainly influenced by genre carving act Dissection.

A Dying Wish was produced at Unisound Studio by Dan Swanö, keeping the black flame of Jon Nödtveidt alive and worthy. A Dying Wish transports the listener right into an icy soundscape of a never ending, severe winter. With 10 blood-freezing tracks delivering clashing guitar riffs, epic slow moments driven by atmospheric acoustic guitars and rapid outbursts of dark and raspy screams, THULCANDRA creates another record that continues the great legacy of true death metal.

Today, THULCANDRA released their staggering opener track from A Dying Wish, entitled Funeral Pyre, alongside a strong music video! The track swiftly showcases clear direction: a mystic intro launches the calm before the snowstorm, which arrives seconds later with freezing riffs, grim growls and powerful drums.

Steffen Kummerer on the first single:

“With “Funeral Pyre” we present you the opening track of A Dying Wish and show you a first glimpse of new music in years. With a foul, unpolished and rotten attitude “Funeral Pyre” takes you on a ride between bitter sweet melodies, fast forward pushing up-tempo blast beats and a sheer steamrolled performance.”

Watch the new music video for "Funeral Pyre”

A Dying Wish guarantees instant frostbites just as the first glance at the thrilling icy-blue cover artwork promises. After the listener is buried under the opener’s avalanche, THULCANDRA spans a dark arc between acoustic interludes and harsh blackened death metal parts. The quiet interlude “In Bleak Misery” marches into “A Shining Abyss”, that guides its listeners like a torch through the night. Dramatic riffing and the screeching growls of Steffen Kummerer create dark and dense walls of sound as up-tempo tracks like “The Slivering Silver” and “Devouring Darkness” offer strong leads, driving riffs and engaging drums that let the storm rage on without mercy. The final, title track “A Dying Wish” provides a great finale that covers everyone and everything under a massive layer of cold, leaving the world behind in nothing but ice and snow.

THULCANDRA on the album:

“We return with an album full of eerie cold melodies, ice-cold vibes and an over the top production by Swedish legend Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios! Within the first album in 5 years we celebrate the essence of pure black & death metal, adorned with more twin guitars, blast beats and filthy arrangements than ever. We celebrate the release of A Dying Wish with excessive shows and embark on a European tour to perform for all our loyal fans and supporters in the upcoming months.”

‘Out Of This World: Live (1970-1997)’, is a new 10LP and 7CD Deluxe Box Set released by BMG on 29th October 2021 as part of Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.

‘Out Of This World Live (1970-1997)’ pulls together five of the biggest and most important shows ELP played across their 50 illustrious years. Not only dynamic on record and in the studio, ELP’s audacious live performances provided validation that they could really rock with the greatest. It was a facet of the band which often set them apart from their early 70s peers such as Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull, and yet, as you will hear over the five wonderful live shows contained in this set, it wasn’t all gung-ho bombast. The band members own fondness for classical and jazz allowed Emerson, Lake & Palmer moments of compelling depth.

Each album has been reimagined with impressive new artwork, reflecting various aspects of the band and their epic, ground-breaking music. The LP box contains 5 x deluxe gatefold double LPs with high quality, fully-restored audio mastered by ELP expert and renowned mastering engineer Andy Pearce.

Most of the LPs are previously unreleased on vinyl, ‘Phoenix 1997’ has never been released. The CDs have been out of print for many years and never released to this standard of artwork and audio. Each Box Set comes complete with a 32-page, glossy photobook, featuring many intimate, rare and unseen images of the band from legendary photographers including Lynn Goldsmith and Neil Preston. Liner notes are provided by Jerry Ewing, editor of Prog Magazine.

“I could not think of a better way to celebrate this anniversary period for ELP. The box set is one of my proudest moments. I know Keith and Greg would agree with me! ‘Out of this World’ is something I will remember for a long time to come. For me, this shows ELP at their very best throughout years of touring and recording. The box set represents the lifeline of our music in our time.” Carl Palmer

Produced in association with ELP Management
This particular live set is widely lauded in the annals of ELP gig history, the prodigious musicianship and showmanship was second to none and included powerful solo spots from Palmer and Emerson, the latter performing on a spinning piano suspended 50 feet above the celebrating crowd.

However, stadium-filling rock giants were no longer flavour of the month in 1977. When the band headed out on the road with an orchestra and choir in tow, punk was really starting to make its presence felt. The behemothic tour might have stretched the band’s resources, but by the time they hit Montréal’s Olympic Stadium, their majestic pomp was still on display for all to hear.

The culmination of those 1997 dates would be the last the three would play, save for a one-off 40th anniversary show at High Voltage Festival, London, in 2010. Both Keith Emerson and Greg Lake sadly died in 2016, leaving Carl Palmer to continue to remind people of one of the greatest legacies in the history of rock music with his own ELP Legacy outfit. A legacy that is captured for posterity in ‘Out Of This World: Live (1970-1997’).

UNTAMED LAND: Old Western-Inspired Atmospheric Metal Project Reveals New Single "A Nameless Shape"

Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms out October 8, 2021 via

Napalm Records

Pre-Order HERE

Ohio, USA based project UNTAMED LAND – the world’s very first metal band incorporating the feral sounds of classic, old western cinematics – recently announced its sophomore release, Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms, scheduled for release via Napalm Records on October 8, 2021.

Today, following soaring recent single, “Clothed In Smoke”, UNTAMED LAND has revealed a second single, entitled "A Nameless Shape", alongside an official music video. The track blends ghostly acoustics, doom-drenched riffs and icy screams as it cascades into a wave of blast beats, rhythmic guitars and operatic accent vocals, making it one of the key epics on the record!

Project mastermind Patrick Kern says about the track:

"With a thundering march-like drum pattern and aggressive full chord guitar strumming, the first two minutes of this song set the stage for the rest of the album. The lyrics tell a tale of isolation and spiritual crisis set against the backdrop of the mythical Old West. This video only serves as a teaser however, and you will have to pick up the album itself to see how the story for this song ends."

Watch the official music video for “A Nameless Shape”

While exploring influence and nuances from various strains of atmospheric metal, UNTAMED LAND traverses wild new frontiers – evoking the ambiance of classic Ennio Morricone/Spaghetti Western soundtracks and traditional old western instrumentals. While some listeners may be quick to label this a purely black metal album before diving into its depths, this description only scratches the surface.

UNTAMED LAND mastermind, composer and sole performer of all instruments (except for accented violin performances by Rita Torrens and vocal contributions by Caroline Joy and Jacob Wherley), Patrick Kern, was initially inspired by what he describes as pagan, cosmic and even “doomy” black metal when writing the album, but the material bloomed in a way that is much more multifaceted to be categorized so singularly.

Patrick Kern adds about the album:

“I would hesitate to call this a black metal album. It's meant to be a cinematic journey into a dark and fantastical old west setting, and various genres and sounds are used to bring that story to life. Lyrically, whereas the previous album dealt with the eternal struggle of the solar hero, this time we delve into a sort of gnostic "Beauty and the Beast" story, ultimately revolving around the feminine role in creation and the tension between the world of matter and the world of forms.

The album ended up reflecting my own spiritual journey that occurred all throughout the writing and production process. I had a great time experimenting with many different styles and sounds for this release and am excited to share this new chapter in the UNTAMED LAND world!"

Following the underground success of its 2018 debut, Between The Winds, Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms is unique in all its facets – not only is it original, inspiring and an impressively eclectic album, it’s poised to cast the name UNTAMED LAND on the lips of every experimental metal fan upon its release. In a dry landscape of repetitive noise as far as the eye can see, Like Creatures Seeking Their Own Forms is an aural oasis.

BLUE EYED CHRIST Releases Music Video for Title Single off of Prescient New Album, 'World on Fire, 'World on Fire'!

LA based Electronic Industrial Rock artist BLUE EYED CHRIST has released a unique, experiential concept video for "World on Fire," the title track off of the May 22nd released LP. Originally premiered on ReGen Magazine, and featuring EN ESCH and MEA FISHER, the visual experience for "World on Fire" was created by long time video collaborator neiL kuLL.

"A gripping indictment of a world obsessed with materialism. Mea Fisher's
saccharine and sardonic voice laughs and mocks a society in the throes of
collapse, while EN ESCH slithers his way through the speakers to ensnare
you. Norten's strutting rhythms, sirenesque electronics, and virulent
atmospheres evocative of the '90s electro/industrial era with a pristine
yet gritty sheen." - ReGen Magazine

"It was great having Mea and En Esch involved! It makes the chorus like an industrial choir. Mea takes the high parts, I’m the tenor, and En Esch is the baritone. I’m also currently working on their upcoming project doing some production and mixing." - John D. Norten

World on Fire is BEC's 5th studio album and first in 6 years, coming after the release of the 2018 Trash Deity album Cross & Divide with Groovie Mann(My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult). The 11 track assault of World on Fire finds the Chicago born artist returning to his WAX TRAX! influences, juxtaposing raw EBM/Industrial elements with modern production and real world themes. The title track from the album, a video for which is forthcoming, features former LORDS OF ACID vocalist MEA FISHER and ex-KMFDM member EN ESCH. Due out 5/22. World on Fire is available to pre-order via DISTORTION PRODUCTIONS Now!

"Blue Eyed Christ’s lyrics often lend themselves to various interpretations. Upon reviewing the song, I was struck by the multiple directions his words could be decoded into themes relevant throughout past, present and future. I started to researching old government PSA’s, self-promoting manufacturing films & proto-infomercials throughout history in order to locate slices of “civilized” culture which could be utilized for illustrating the various concepts suggested within the lyrics of this song. People dance around their possessions, celebrating their ability to consume while governments utilize the same raw materials to build machines of surveillance & war.

Now with the advent of cell phone cameras, social media, internet spambots, propaganda farms & the increasing ease of access to such tools (and the resulting misinformation being generated and digested on a minute-by-minute basis), society sails further and faster into this hall of mirrors - gleefully making images of our lives to convince each other that opinions are more valuable than truth, feelings more important than fact, that we’re all doing just fine/not-fine, civilization is ticking along nicely/not-nicely - reveling in shortsighted, personal agendas... while outside, the world burns. "

Blue Eyed Christ is the Electronic Industrial Rock project of established Producer/Engineer John D. Norten. John has worked with many of the biggest artists in music helping them achieve their visions (PrinceFergieLady GagaDr. Dre).

In contrast, Blue Eyed Christ is 100% John’s artistic vision in the studio. That vision is the visceral combination of heavy electronic industrial rock mixed with personal lyrics and just the right balance of hooks and noise. Blue Eyed Christ is the combination of John’s experimental Chicago Trax background mixed with the pop and polished sheen he brings to other Artists.
In 1991, while still in his teens, Chicago's John D. Norten signed his first international recording contract under the band name Blue Eyed Christ to famed Belgian EBM label KK Records. The first Album, Leaders + Followers, was released that same year. Blue Eyed Christ still enjoys a loyal following today and Leaders +Followers is considered an EBM classic.

In 1995 John recorded the second Blue Eyed Christ Album, Crash, while working at Chicago Trax Recording Studios. At the same time he assembled an intense live band that helped further create a buzz throughout the music industry.

2002 saw the release of the third Blue Eyed Christ album, American Whore, with a new Los Angeles Live band taking on the underground club circuit.

With a new studio savvy, 2014 saw the release of A Rush and a Thrill, a whirlwind ride straight into the world of Blue Eyed Christ. Eric Zimmerman(SoundgardenNine Inch NailsMinistry) directed the decadent “Freakshow” concept video short recorded on Halloween of that year.

A chance meeting at an art event in 2015 led to the formation of Trash Deitywith Groovie Man (My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult). Metropolis Recordscaught wind and released the debut Trash Deity Album, Cross & Divide, Sept 2018.

Energized by the current chaos and state of the world, John is releasing the first Blue Eyed Christ Album in 6 years, World on Fire.

World on Fire combines the energy and political anthems on my first album mixed with the personal themes I’m also known for. It’s time to get this message out there again and that message is loud and angry. My songwriting and production has never been better”

Brooklyn electronic mavericks Pas Musique present 'Don Cheadle Superhero' from coming 'Amateur Radio' LP

"A glitchy and eerie trip... proponents of an adventurous sonic thread, the electronic maestros we know as Pas Musique weave an instrumental path inspired by pioneers such as Zoviet France and NEU!" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Pas Musique recall an industrial that once was, such cacophonous and ominously bustling sounds from the likes of Throbbing Gristle, Zoviet France, or more modern wreckers of civilization like the Belgian duo Silk Saw" ~ PopMatters

"Constantly pushing the boundaries of electronic music... Like neurons firing impulses on all cylinders contrasted by lightly biting buzzsaw nicks, much electro-knob-twiddling and a menacing sonic undercurrent" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Makes the incomprehensible seem familiar and easily digestible... covers an ungodly amount of musical ground without sacrificing listenability" ~ Slug Magazine

"A sonic painting where the colors have been replaced by sounds and where the style is totally abstract and into modernism" ~ Side-Line Magazine

"An appealing if appropriately bizarre flow to everything, and it would be difficult for me to call this anything less than effective sound art" ~ Scene Point Blank

Brooklyn-based Pas Musique present their new single 'Don Cheadle Superhero', a smooth flowing futuristic motorik journey of a track, ahead of heir new full-length album 'Amateur Radio'. With six new electronic, experimental krautrock-influenced tracks, it will be available on white vinyl and digitally via NYC-based label Alrealon Musique.

Not long ago, the band unveiled a glitchy and eerie audio-visual trip for lead track 'Ancient Scottish Legend'. Jeanne-Marie Varain, artist and daughter of Jean-Herve Peron of FAUST, also collaborates on a cover of 'It’s a Rainy Day, Sunshine Girl'. This Faust cover, developed in 2019 for the 'KRAUT! Covered' compilation curated by WFMU’s DJ Scott Williams.

The 'Amateur Radio' LP is mirrored by the same broadcasting term, using the radio frequency spectrum for purposes of non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, private recreation, radio-sport, contesting, and emergency communication.

This album was inspired by the collective's U.S. tour in 2019 and recorded shortly after at Pas Musique headquarters in Brooklyn and mixed by All Real Sound. The tracks are dense and textured, mixing in field recordings captured during that U.S. tour.

Pas Musique was founded by Robert L. Pepper in 1995 as a solo project around abstract sound. It has since morphed into a collective that has gone through many variations of experimental, electronic iterations. Today Pas Musique is comprised of Jon V Worthley, Michael Durek, Jesse Fairbairn and Robert Pepper, having performed in 18 countries and collaborated with many great musicians, including Faust, Rapoon, ZEV, Philippe Petit, HATI, Chester Hawkins, Jim Tuite and many more. Pas Musique have

This album follows up 'The Phoenix' LP (2019) and 'Inside the Spectrum' (2015), the title track of which was released by Wire Magazine for its 'Wire Tapper' compilation. 2018's 'Composited Reality' was a collaboration with Rapoon, based on field recordings from the USA, UK and Indonesia.

As of September 15, 'Don Cheadle Superhero' will be available via Bandcamp. On October 1, the 'Amateur Radio' LP will be released everywhere, including Spotify and Apple Music. It can be pre-ordered on limited-edition white vinyl or a digital download at https://alrealonmusique.bandcamp.com.
