After the release of "Emerald Seas" in February of 2020, the band had multiple amazing support slots lined up to promote the record on the road. They were geared up and in fighting form, ready to bring their music to the masses and show the world what they are all about. Plans were quickly changed weeks after the album' release due to the coronavirus pandemic though and soon it became obvious that touring would be ground to a halt for a while. So, the band took the opportunity to commence work on their follow-up album, which wound up becoming the mammoth 70+ minute masterpiece that is "Gods Of Debauchery". This album, epic in scope and reach, shows progression well beyond their years.

Permafrost – new single ‘Restore Us’ available 3rd September 2021 on Fear of Music

We’ve become numb to endless conflicts and mountebanks posing as leaders. A figurative plague has divided us for most of the modern era. It took a literal one to bring us together, albeit in the darkest of ways.

One would be forgiven for feeling a little nostalgic for better times about now, and we’re long overdue for a hard reset. With “Restore Us,” Permafrost has just released what could be the theme song for the post-lockdown era.

Permafrost was formed in 1982, in Molde, Norway by Frode Heggdal Larsen and Kåre Steinsbu, during the first post punk era, taking their name from a Magazine track. They released
the Godtment EP a year later. Robert Heggdal, Trond Tornes and eventually Daryl Bamonte, who had worked with bands like Depeche Mode, and The Cure, rounded out the group. In 2019 they released the Permafrost EP to high praise. The well-received “Femme Fatale” and “Closed Eyes” singles were released earlier this year, spending several weeks at the top of many indie charts, including the Indie Disko Top 40.

As industry veterans, their long arc provides some crucial perspective as we enter uncharted waters. In fact, ideas for the song have been germinating for three years, with it ultimately coming into focus over the past year. Both foreboding and optimistic, “Restore Us” is less the battle hymn that is usually the stock in trade of the post punks, and more of a face-the-facts statement that it's time.

The accompanying video’s footage was shot in 1987, by keyboardist Daryl Bamonte, on Depeche Mode’s Music For The Masses tour, who was working with the band. It shows the energy and enthusiasm of a group on the ascent, in a country concurrently starting its slow decline into the new consumerism era, reaching its logical conclusion when a failed salesman became president three decades later. A man forged in that epoch, with a commitment to a laissez faire modus operandi, and putting profits over people, became the glaring symbol of our ultimate undoing.

The film takes us back to a time when bands were embracing a “get in the van” lifestyle, while naively passing through the intestinal tract of the beast, getting their kicks on Route 666, during the unraveling of an American Dream that probably never was. As the song concludes, shifting from its dark minor key to one more sanguine, we also see oddly foreboding, shaky footage of an airliner.

The emergence from dark times presents opportunities if we take them. Restoration doesn’t have to mean going back to the time portrayed in the video. Were the “good times” really that good, or were we being fooled all along, ignorantly living in our bubbles? As we get back on the road perhaps we should reconsider the route this time around. The recent reminder that the world is indeed very small and connected can also be an instruction to restore our humanity.

Sydney Sherwood is an 18-year-old singer/songwriter from New Jersey. Sydney began singing and playing guitar as a way to express her emotions after her brother was diagnosed with cancer.

Since her brother's diagnosis, being a childhood cancer advocate has become a big part of Sydney's life. She has performed and spoken at many childhood cancer events over the past twelve years and continues to be a voice for all children with cancer, as well as their siblings.

Sydney began writing her own music when she was 13, and on March 3, 2019, she released her first EP, Beauty from Ashes. Her release show was held at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey. In 2019, Sydney also received a golden ticket to Hollywood from American Idol celebrity judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.

Over the course of the pandemic, Sydney has been writing and recording her new album, Headspace, which will be released February 27, 2021.

Sydney’s goal is to touch the lives of others through the music that she writes, as she takes inspiration directly from her life experiences.

On January 24th 2020, more than a decade after its predecessor The Darkness, Finnish death and gothic doom metal icon Tuomas Saukkonen returned with Waves, his sophomore solo-album under the flag of DAWN OF SOLACE. Grey, heavy and dark, but still sorrow carrying certain beauty and strength - the long-awaited record turned out to be an honest picture of the current times for its writer and delivered exactly that kind of atmosphere everyone had hoped for.

Already while recording the album it was clear that DAWN OF SOLACE was brought back to life and this time without the passing of another 14 years! To be released on November 12th via Noble Demon, Flames of Perdition picks up where DAWN OF SOLACE left off with Waves, creating a world full of electrifying melancholy that evokes profound sadness. Like life itself, the darkness of DAWN OF SOLACE has evolved and made a few steps towards the void. Today we are thrilled to share their brand new single and video for “Bring Me His Head”, the second single of their new studio album “LUCIFER IV”, which will be released on October 29th this year!

For this video, singer Johanna had the idea to pay tribute to Brian De Palma's 1976 horror classic "Carrie".

She says: "'Carrie' is one of my favorite movies. Being an outsider myself my entire life, I've always identified with her. We are very excited that this time we got to work with director Amir Chamdin and photographer Crille Forsberg on our videos. Their body of work is quite breathtaking, if you look it up, so it was a real honor. The video to 'Bring Me His Head' is only one part of the story but we can't give anything more away at this point."

VELVETS are an endless summer night dipped in a bucket of rock, blues, schlager and funk with a cool breeze coming at you from the south.  Velvets was born in January 2021, when the duo Sami and Sakke were desperately in need of creating new music. With too much time on their hands after finishing the second Rokets album, the Finnish band where the two first met each other as members. The first idea for Velvets was to write love songs and stick to them, kicking things off by listening to a lot of Moon Martin. 

 The duo has previously toured Finland and the Baltic countries extensively with Rokets since August 2017, well known in Finland for their sweaty, energetic live shows. The band opened for Kaleidobolt in Helsinki for their album release party of their latest album "Bitter" and were the closing act of the first day of the Finnish festival Kill Sörnäinen in Helsinki. With two EP's titled "Rokets" and "Speed & Sound" and the debut album "Fast Times", released on digital and vinyl format in 2020/2021 under the belt the duo decided that it was time for a project of their own - Velvets. Besides Velvets and Rokets, Sakke has played in the hardcore band Locked Up and the country band Rusty Triggers. Sami shares the hardcore background, starting his musical career as the singer of heavy metal band United Seafood.

 The band sounds like a session where Moon Martin, Hurriganes, ZZ Top, Thin Lizzy, and The Allman Brothers started experimenting on a new kind of sound that brought all the pieces together from the different styles of the sweet, sweet music we call rock n roll. This is not your average rough and tough, rowdy and raunchy boy band, with the testosterone levels going through the roof. About the song and video
Welcome to the ’Edge Of The World’…
Picture yourself somewhere in the Middle-East or North Africa… walking around in one of the markets, through narrow passages… with merchants, beggars and thieves all around… the air filled with smells of spices, incense and animals. A cool and mysterious setting for a dark mystery that reminds us of the backdrops used in epic films like ’Death On The Nile’ and ’Indiana Jones’. “Edge Of The World“ delivers a fusion of bone-crushing guitar riffs and a led-heavy rhythm section, all mixed with multi-ethnical instrumentation and harmonies typical for the regions.

The guitars build on a mono-toned lead riff in the intro and chorus and open-ended chords in the verse and pre-chorus. It is only in the bridge that the more typical duo-harmony riffs are used. The guitars are also tuned in drop B (5 tones down) to give a deeper and darker feel to the sound. The ambiance of the song is also inspired by Led Zeppelin’s song ’Kashmir’ and Rush’s ’A Passage To Bankok’. Packaged in MAD INVASION’s typical dark-themed classic rock, the result is both different and enticing – clearly standing out on the contemporary rock scene.

“Edge Of The World“ is single is the title track from the upcoming album and is also the 'big' song both as far as energy, intensity and delivery.

'Infernum In Terra' is the fourth studio album from A Pale Horse Named Death, and was mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Meat Loaf, Yes, Sepultura, Rob Halford, etc.) at Maor Appelbaum Mastering, while the artwork was done by Kelvin Doran of Serpent Tusk Studios. 

"The album to me represents a new beginning, turning a new leaf shall we say with the same vibe from past albums but with a fresh open minded approach," says band leader Sal Abruscato. He adds: "There is no real concrete specific concept, it touches on some personal topics in my life long, my interest in the dark arts, that to have light you must have darkness to balance everything. With daylight comes nightfall, with heaven there is hell and at this moment the world seems to be in a very dark place hence the title of the album ‘Infernum In Terra’. This is a very dark album, but what else is new I always write dark music to sooth a dark soul!"

Sal Abruscato was born in Brooklyn, NY Started playing drums at age 10. He is the co-founder of Type O Negative with Peter Steele and performed on Slow, Deep & Hard, Origin Of The Feces, Bloody Kisses, and various best of and soundtracks. Sal was the drummer for Life Of Agony and performed on River Runs Red, Ugly, River Runs Again, Broken Valley, and A Place Where There's No More Pain. Additional projects include Supermassiv & My Mortality. He is now the singer, songwriter, and guitarist for A Pale Horse Named Death.

The songs on "The Mirror Star" are a mixture of all of the band’s hard rock favorites with a touch of modern vertigo. Every song Nasson wrote for this album is a different beast and with James’s voice, they are truly brought to life. With lyrics that are honest and emotional and superb production, Nasson has presented some of his most powerful songs via Sinner’s Blood.

James Robledo is a Chilean vocalist who has performed with several bands including Renegade (Chile) and Thabu (Argentina). Always bringing a powerful and emotional performance rooted in the vein of heavy metal singers like Ronnie James Dio, Jorn Lande, and Russell Allen, he now joins Sinner’s Blood, where he showcases the full potential of his voice.

Nasson is a Chilean producer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist. His most recent collaborations with Caterina Nix on the last two Chaos Magic releases received international acclaim and showcased the breadth of his talents.

Sick Puppies original frontman, SHIM, is recording some of the early Sick Puppies hits for fans live on Twitch, while also debuting new music. SHIM will begin with “You’re Going Down,”“Maybe” and “Riptide,” as well as moving on to new songs that he says will be “heavier than anything the Puppies ever did."

"People are angry and they deserve to be. I want to make some music that reflects that and doesn’t pull any punches. Something you can really break shit to. I also want to make the Sick Puppies songs heavier now for the fans that have asked for it," says Shim.

The recording process will be done in a state of the art recording studio in Nashville and live streamed on Twitch with a 10 camera set up across 3 separate live rooms.

Over the coming weeks, Shim will be giving fans the chance to sing on the records by sending files to his discord server. Also anyone from around the world will be able to write songs with him during his “Lockdown Sessions” where fans contribute lyrics to a pre-written track that SHIM then has to sing.
