VOYAGER Teases Special Virtual Concert, "A Voyage Through Time"

Electro Prog Sensation VOYAGER will transmit to the universe a special edition online show direct from Perth, Western Australia this September. Following the success of their debut online show that served fans during the first lockdown, Voyager have now expanded their horizons and announced a unique once in a lifetime performance that spans the band's extensive career. The band is now sharing an exciting trailer for the massive event, which can be seen below.

'A Voyage Through Time' sees Perth's premiere Progressive Metal outfit Voyager present a one of a kind visual and aural performance that outlines the progression of their musical career. An online live experience with full production, a journey across two decades and seven albums with a fan-voted set list, seeks to explore a new and enhanced approach to the band's live show serving to grab the attention of both their Australian and international fan base, and as a tribute to the songs that have stayed with fans over time.

The show will air on Sunday, September 5, a date which celebrates the Voyager 1 Spacecraft that was launched by NASA.

'Colours in the Sun' was recently the winner of The Independent Music Award in the Rock/Hard Rock Album category. The record was released in November of 2019 and landed a coveted #1 placement on the Australian Independent Albums chart! Following an application via the Song Portal, the band finally received recognition for submitting a track and were paid tribute on the live television broadcast that aired on Saturday, February 8 on the Gold Coast. Since their 1999 formation, whatever genre norms, boundaries and regulations thrust upon Perth, Australia’s Voyager have been smashed. They embrace, if not brandish pop; employ a keytar on stage, and, bring forward a positive, if not uplifting feeling to their music, running head-first into the endless parade of heavy bands who see the world in a different light. It’s perhaps why the title of their seventh full-length and first for Season of Mist, Colours in the Sun, is apropos: Voyager simply prefers to see the bright side of things.

“Observations of the malaises of the modern world and the baffling obsession with purity and difference all make me think,” says frontman and founding member Danny Estrin. “We’ve never had it better and we’ve never had it more colorful. To me that’s progress, it’s adaptation, it’s evolution and it’s astounding.”

The follow-up to 2017’s Ghost Mile, Colours in the Sun finds Voyager enmeshed in rich, melodic, song-first tapestries, led by Estrin’s smooth, capable clean vocal delivery. Estrin is self-aware of his vocals, calling them “unique and ‘80s.” But whatever tag Estrin affixes to his voice, they are the propellent throughout Colours in the Sun, serving up a steady diet of soaring, emotive choruses, where melody is paramount and along the way, even getting some help from another distinctive belter, Leprous’s Einar Solberg on “Entropy.”

“Einar and I became good friends on our tours through Europe and Australia,” notes Estrin. “I couldn’t help but ask him to guest on the album. He is a fantastic musician and vocalist. I sent him a reference track which he swiftly ignored and laid his own tracks down. The result is stunning!”

The kaleidoscope of sounds that comprise the album’s ten cuts is the result of Voyager’s far-reaching influences, many of which go beyond the traditional realms of metal and rock. Estrin calls it “catchy at the top, proggy at the bottom, as if Dream Theater and Depeche Mode had a baby.” It’s almost as if the term “progressive” is too limiting for Voyager, particularly when the guitar tandem of Simone Dow and Scott Kay merge for complex rhythms while doing battle against Estrin’s vaudeville-like keyboards (!) on “Reconnected.”

The “proggy at the bottom” notice is served by way of the rhythm section of bassist Alex Canion and drummer Ashley Doodkorte, who stretch their musical tentacles across busy, active cuts such as “Saccharine Dream” and the syncopated “Water Over the Bridge.” “I think we found our ‘voice’ on V (2014) and have been building on that ever since,” says Estrin. “The synthwave prog sound is really something that has naturally developed and has been refined even more on the new album. Every record is progress — that’s what progressive music is all about!”

According to Estrin, the Colours in the Sun album title encompasses a “vibrant multitude of people coming together under the hot Australian sun to create a beautiful and colorful soundscape.” It’s capped off by artwork courtesy of Doodkorte, who made the piece out of photographs near his house in Perth. A closer inspection reveals there are seven suns on the cover, one for each Voyager album, topped off by an updated version of the band’s logo comprised of five strokes, one for each member. No doubt a fitting visual summation of a band whose progress can be the described in the most literal and figurative of terms.

“It’s been a slow steady growth over the years,” concludes Estrin. “Other bands come and go after a year of fame. I really feel like we’ve built up an incredible fanbase, especially over the last decade, and the deal with Season of Mist seemed the logical step to take it to the next level together.”

EX DEO returns with more massive, brutal soundscapes than ever on The Thirteen Years Of Nero! The Canadian unit is led by founding frontman Maurizio Iacono (Kataklysm) and producer/guitarist Jean-François Dagenais (Kataklysm, Misery Index, Despised Icon), with the stylings of Stephane Barbe (Kataklysm) on lead guitar, Jeramie Kling (Venom Inc.) on drums, Dano Apekian (Ashes of Eden) on bass and Clemens Wijers (Carach Angren, Lindemann) manning the intense orchestral score.

The Thirteen Years Of Nero pierces through the silence with its first auditory spear, “The Fall Of Claudius”, immediately drawing the listener in with a savagely heavy, grooving riff, ground-shaking swells and warning strings and horns. Discordant harmonies collide as a mosh-worthy battle riff chugs and pinches through the center of the song, showcasing the ruthlessness to come. “The Head Of The Snake” and unforgivingly immense “Britannia: The 9th At Camulodonum” balance sinister, spectral-like channels with up-tempo elements, racing like a chariot of symphonic death metal influences that careen the listener back to a sonic dimension of time forgotten. NECROFIER Shares New Song + Music Video via Black Metal Promotions

Texan black metal battalion NECROFIER will be unleashing their debut full-length record, 'Prophecies of Eternal Darkness,' onto the masses on October 22 via Season of Mist Underground Activists! The band is now unveiling the ominous new single, "Madness Descends," along with an official music video. The video, which was created by Dwayne Cathey, can be found via Black Metal Promotion below.

The rise of American black metal is a cult movement whose vast influence and growth cannot be ignored. Houston’s Necrofier carries this torch, embodying the hallmarks of melodic black metal while embracing their Texas roots, delivering what can only be described as total Southern darkness as they bridge the divide between true Norwegian black metal and American gothic.

In the fall of 2018, fate coalesced when vocalist/guitarist Bakka Larson (VENOMOUS MAXIMUS, NIGHT COBRA) saw an open call on social media from drummer Dobber Beverly (OCEANS OF SLUMBER, INSECT WARFARE) who was looking to work on a traditional heavy metal project. Larson had already been working on black metal songs as an outlet to explore the themes of the supernatural and unknown and exploring this darkness, so he jumped on the opportunity and quickly reached out. The two immediately connected over their shared passion to create dark, old school music in which they could inject their Southern flair.

The duo eventually recruited Beverly’s OCEANS OF SLUMBER counterpart and bassist Mat Valentine and soon wrote and released a debut EP, ‘Visions in Fire,’ which channeled the spirit of late-era DISSECTION, WATAIN, CLOAK, and TRIBULATION while staying true to their own homegrown sensibilities.

Not long after the EP release, the band scored an opening slot with UADA. Needing a second guitarist to fill out the sound, Josh Bokemeyer (CHURCH OF DISGUST) was eventually tapped to fill that role, completing the band’s inception.

The four-piece later released a music video for the EP title track and went on to perform with a vast array of their black metal brethren such as 1349, Goatwhore, and Cloak, including an appearance at a coveted SXSW showcase. Now, the band is emerging from the darkness of 2021, ready to fan the unholy flames and finally release their devastating debut full-length, ‘Prophecies of Eternal Darkness.’

Phoenix Arizona's Alt-Metal darlings, SINSHRIFT have announced their signing to GODSIZE RECORDS for the release of their debut full length, Sinshrift, to be released on September 10th. In conjunction, SINSHRIFT have also released a music video for the lead single, "Run", which can be viewed below.

This self-titled full length is an album that demands your attention, with all 10 tracks being strong candidates for the playlists. Their sound is accurately described as "melodic, aggressive and infectious", each track a tale of honest conviction from vocalist Trenton Valenzuela.

Borthers In Arms is the brainchild of guitarist/composer Jack Frost (Savatage, Seven Witches, Lizzy Borden, etc…), who along with several recruited iconic rock brothers, has made it his mission to prove rock music will never die. The guys unified to take a stand against the doubters and cynics who have claimed that it's simply not possible to resurrect this celebrated music in which so many lasting and fond memories were built around. Banding together, Jack & the Brothers forged ahead with one main goal: To make quality music that would both represent and immortalize the days of the sold-out legendary rock venues, to show the world that rock is not just a thing of the past.

Their first single and video for “Last To Know” will be out on August 20th and features Jack along with vocalist Andrew Freeman (Last In Line, Lynch Mob, Hurricane), drummer Karl Wilcox (Diamond Head), bassist Alex Jansen (Hardline) and keyboardist Charlie Calv (Angel). Jack had this to say about the track, “Well, I was listening to the debut from Badlands, & realized that I just always loved Jake’s tone and feel on that album…& let’s be honest, Ray Gilllan was a god among gods…So with that in mind, I kept hearing this riff and it took me like 3-4 days to find the balance between that classic rock sound and the feel of today. When it was done I was like, “Man, this feels so good…”I sent the track to Karl and sure enough, he put his Bonzo feel to it and yeah, just Wow! Then Alex’s bass was added & it was so brutal that it really made it drive. Charlie’s keyboards came next & gave it a total John Lord vibe with that iconic Hammond B3 tone, & it just blew me away. Finally the task of who can sing this & write the words & a hook was up. Andrew immediately came to my mind because I love the Last In Line albums. Andrew’s power and melodies are spine tingling to say the least. His ability to compose lyrics is amazing & his tone is so classic. The hook he wrote was killer, & it made me want to hear it over and over again. I’m just so honored that I’m a part of this monster track…”, Andrew continues, “Jack and I have been threatening to work on a project together for a long time. That being said I’m very excited to be involved with “Brothers in Arms” project. The songs we wrote have a lot of the elements that made me want to make music my life. Pulling from mutual influences, that I would like to hear more of in today’s rock music, we created a some timeless anthems. Pure rock fury for the masses! “

While Jack may have initially instigated this idea, the other musicians involved with this project were immediately on board & ready to go, right from Day One. All collectively working on this throughout the industry wide COVID-19 lockdown and giving all the musicians a place to come together and collaborate. Napalm Records is proud to announce the signing of the outstanding progressive/melodic death metal band PERSEFONE. Hailing out of Andorra, the five-piece outfit is known for the creation of rich soundscapes and technically precise work that sets new standards in modern extreme progressive metal.

Founded in 2001, PERSEFONE has released five studio albums, each one showcasing the band’s myriad of musical principles: high technicality, distinct melodies, plenty of head-turning riffs and musical acrobatics. The band has toured worldwide with notable acts like Obituary and Leprous, and has hit the stages of important festivals such as Wacken Open Air, Metal Days, Brutal Assault, ProgPower and 70,000 Tons of Metal.

Dark Station released the re-imagined version of their single "GHOST" to all major platforms. This version of the single will be included on their upcoming 5-song EP titled Afterlight that features re-imagined songs from their previous album Down in the Dark. In addition, the band announced the "Afterlight Tour" in support of the EP that begins on September 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada at Taverna Costera.

"I really wanted to paint a picture of how much effort it takes to make a relationship work. There are ups and downs, but in the end someone makes the ride worthwhile. It can be the most beautiful and the most painful thing ever. This song is about one of those wounds that never fully heals" says the band's vocalist, Nathan Spades.

"We filmed this video in Big Bear, California at a spot called the Dam Keeper's house. The building was constructed in 1890, so it had seen better days, but what's left of it made for the perfect background to our music video. Robyn August handled the directing and editing duties again on this one" adds Kyle Ort, the band's guitarist.

PERPETUAL ETUDE Release Debut Single + Lyric Video for "Show Me"

Perpetual Etude have released their debut single "Show Me", along with a lyric video. This is the first track from the band's upcoming debut album 'Now Is The Time'. Packed with blazing guitar and keyboard solos, fast and heavy riffing, and very melodic vocals, this is definitely something you don't want to miss out on.

Perpetual Etude was formed in 2019 by Magnus Mild with the sole goal to bring back the best of the heavy metal of the ’80s. Influenced by the genre when growing up, Magnus teamed up with members from NorthTale, ex-members from Dionysys, Nation, and Shadowquest, as well as Göran Edman on “Sail Away” to complete the vision. Rising Insane is not just the name but also what happened literally to these five guys from northern Germany over the last few years. After their self-released debut album, 'Nation' in 2017, the band gained attention quickly in the German metal scene on shows with Stray From The Path and For Today, as well as a support slot for Annisokay on their 2018 headline run.

In 2019 they played at the Impericon Festival and got signed by Long Branch Records. This led to the band's first label release, 'Porcelain' in November 2019, which received outstanding reviews from around the world and accelerated them into international attention. In the aftermath of the album release, the band kept busy and recorded a well-received cover version of "Blinding Lights" by The Weeknd. This cover got the band even more worldwide attention and spread their name even wider. Due to the pandemic, their first headline run had to be cancelled in 2020 and the band decided to stay active, recording an EP named 'Recovered' with even more cover songs, including "Blinding Lights".

Now Rising Insane are back with new music and ready to elevate into an even higher stratosphere. They stay true to their post-hardcore and metalcore roots, but have clearly grown as a band and as individual musicians. The sound is more mature and the songs will not leave any questions as to whether these guys can stay true to their name and keep rising insane!

ARTIFAS Release Official Music Video for Single "CUT ME OUT"

Hard rock band ARTIFAS released the official music video for their new single "CUT ME OUT"! The single is from their forthcoming album titled Reflections due out November 19, 2021.

"Cut Me Out is about cutting toxic people out of your life. Sometimes the most toxic people around you are the ones that are not so easily removed. At some point you have to stand up and say enough is enough, cut me out. The artwork for this record is all about reflection. Whether it’s someone in a dark place reflecting the poor decisions made, or whether someone is reflecting the beauty of the world on front of them" says the band.

American Hard Rock band Artifas was formed in 2011 in Jackson, TN by lead guitarist Cody Criswell and lead vocalist Scottie Somerville. In the months following, the two founders of the group would immediately recruit an assortment of hometown musicians and begin looking to record their debut EP. After having a long and ugly encounter that resulted in the theft of all the bands funds and receiving no album in return, the original incarnation of the group would spend 2012-2013 doing several independent tours and writing music. After debuting with their EP Enemy Inside in 2013 and doing numerous regional/national tours in support of it, the band replaced former members with guitarist Mikey Miller, bassist Anthony Mattox, and drummer Jared Wainscott.

With almost two years of touring with the new lineup under their belts, Artifas inked themselves a record deal and hit the studio to make their first full length album. The 2015 release of the title track, “Inhuman,” would bring the band some commercial success, reaching # 32 on Billboard’s Active Rock chart and sending the band on the road in support of their new album. The band landed tours with established artists like Theory of a Deadman, Shamans Harvest, Pop Evil, Saint Asonia, Aranda, and others. The follow up single from that record, “Blood 4 Blood”, would later get picked up by the World Series of Fighting and subsequently land a feature in the UFC movie “Fight Valley”. The band parted ways with their record label in 2016, and remained on tour throughout the US for most of the following year, also traveling internationally for the first time with the likes of Papa Roach, Hoobastank, P.O.D., Trapt, and Sick Puppies to play for our American Troops.

Multiple tour cycles later, Artifas found themselves back in the studio making new music. The band worked with multiple writers and producers throughout the entirety of 2018, but would ultimately only find themselves frustrated with the recordings that resulted. After a soul search within the group, Artifas elected to embrace their own vision and write/produce their next album independently, free from the creative overreach of outside influence.

After two years of writing, recording, and mixing, Artifas has completed the new album, and plans to unleash it upon the world. With catchy guitar riffs, dizzying drums, and soaring melodies, Reflections will send you on an emotional journey, exploring the band’s semi-prog, radio rock sound while diving deeper into the human complex with lyrics centered around self awareness and the bands own struggles with mental health. The goal for the creation of this album was to make a record that met the band’s expectations and you can rest assured they held nothing back. Mixed and Mastered by Forrester Savell (Twelve Foot Ninja, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus), Reflections promises to wow you with musical prowess, all the while delivering Artifas’ important message on unity, inspiration, and the sempiternal battle between dark and light.

Staying true to the promise they made their fans, Artifas has been on hiatus since their last show in October 2019, working, learning, and preparing for the release of their new album and the beginning of a new chapter in the ArtiStory.

Singapore-France R&B/ Chill hop duo CRAVISM x MAYA DIEGEL release single 'It's Okay'

R&B/ Lo-Fi/ Chill hop duo Cravism x Maya Diegel have announced their single 'It's Okay', a soulful poptastic offering, which will be released via UK-French label Komplex Recordings on August 20. Accompanied by a film by Parisien video director Stewart Livinec, this is the first taste of their sophomore project 'Caryatid EP', entailing a series of songs and films. With smooth jazz textures laid over lush mellow jazz hip hop beats, the listener is transported into a chilled relaxing realm.

Hailing from Paris and initially trained as a jazz singer, Maya Diegel's trajectory would take a big turn upon meeting Singaporean producer Cravism several years ago in Cornwall after his performance at the local university, Maya fell in love with Cravism's set and sought to collaborate. Impressed by Maya's capacity for writing high level melodies, harmonies and lyrics, their fateful meeting ultimately brought the 2019 release of their first collaborative album 'Vibes, vol. 2', which resulted in ample playlisting and radio interviews and ultimately secured them a record deal with Komplex Recordings.

Recorded in their respective home countries, their new album was mixed by Thomas “Mister T.” Gloor at AKA-Studios in Switzerland and mastered by Stefan Hegar (D’ Angelo, KRS-One, Cody Chestnutt) at Fisheye Music in the USA.

“This track started off in one of the basement rooms in Lasalle back in August 2019. It was another practice beat that I made and didn’t really think much about it for months until the first lockdown came. Maya was experiencing lockdown in Paris as well, so I sent her a couple of tracks to write on and she recorded them and sent the back to me to mix,” says Cravism.

“When writing this song, I was picturing what I would say to someone that I love who is going through a difficult time in their lives, I wanted to give the audience a feeling of comfort and calm. In this song I am telling the person that is in front of me that they can open up to me about anything that is troubling them. This song to me is pure love. Overall, the album is about part of my experience of being a woman and I thought that this song would add something to the theme of the album, vulnerability," says Maya Diegel.

Having released two instrumental albums before meeting Diegel and touring the UK and Singapore, Cravism has always been immersed in the hip-hop culture. Besides being a professional b-boy, Cravism began playing the piano and trumpet early on, which progressed into recording and producing his own music. His music has been featured in Berlin, Hong Kong, London, Mexico City, Milan, Moscow, Paris, and Seoul for the Adidas Originals Flagship Store. It has also been used in many documentary videos, including 'The Cuppa Depresso', 'Elevate the Streets', 'Dead was the Body' and others. Cravism was also the opening act for legendary Hip-hop trio Slum Village during "Dilla Week" in Falmouth 2019.

Maya Diegel explores different altitudes with her voice, drawing influences from Hip-Hop, RnB, Neo-soul, Jazz hop and funk. After graduating with a music bachelor in the UK in 2019, she has launched her music career, in addition to pursuing a career in the cooking world, her other great love. A born singer-songwriter, Diegel's style and delivery conjures emotions and atmosphere that make for an incredible experience.

As of August 20, 'It's Okay' will be available across online stores, such as Apple Music and streaming sites like Spotify. Out in full on October 22, the 'Caryatid EP' project entails a staggered release of a track every three weeks with accompanying films, in addition to a series of online live performances of these compositions.
