RUNNING WILD TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM "BLOOD ON BLOOD" THIS OCTOBER

mail-87.jpeg

There are plenty of reasons why Rock’n’ Rolf Kasparek is so happy with BLOOD ON BLOOD. Says Rolf: “We all know the difficulties the cultural sector was faced with during the lockdown. On the other hand, it also gave me and many other artists some extra time since most releases had to be postponed. I used that time to fine-tune every little detail of my new material. The result is an album that in my opinion is probably the best in Running Wild`s career to date. Every one of the ten songs sounds exactly as I had it in mind when I composed it. I’ve never been happier with a Running Wild record before.” So, with no further details available at this point, fans of the German metal legend can look forward to 29 October 2021, when BLOOD ON BLOOD will be out on Steamhammer/SPV. Those who can’t wait should mark 13 August in their diaries, when the lead single ‘Diamonds & Pearls’ will arrive at the digital stores, followed by the second single ‘The Shellback’ on 24 September 2021. Could there be any better news for Running Wild disciples?

Well, possibly the news below, which will also reveal some of the aforementioned details: Rolf justly describes BLOOD ON BLOOD as the most diverse offering he has released so far, not only in terms of the compositions but also as far as the production is concerned. “Every song has its own unmistakable sound,” explains the Running Wild captain. “Although I recorded the rhythm guitar parts with my 1976 Gibson Explorer as usual, the other parts were cut with a Gibson Flying V, a Fender Stratocaster and even – the undistorted parts – with a Fender American Standard Telecaster.” A prime example being ‘One Night, One Day’, which owes its great depth to its clean guitar performance. Rolf is referring to a song that is guaranteed to cause a stir with its anthemic direction and unusual arrangements: “For me, this track was a little experiment that I`ve never dared to try before, because ‘One Night, One Day’ doesn`t have the typical intro-verse-chorus structure, instead gradually building up throughout the song.”

The grooving ‘The Iron Times (1618 - 1648)’, a worthy album finale, is just as remarkable, with its eleven minutes of playing time the longest track on the disc, and thanks to its lyric about the Thirty Years’ War also one of the most ambitious numbers. Speaking of lyrics: ‘Wings Of Fire’ and ‘Say Your Prayers’ are about prophecies, albeit not – as on many other releases – the prophecies of Nostradamus, but – among others – the prophecies of John of Jerusalem, the French Knight Templar and co-founder of the Order of the Knights Templar, who predicted organ trafficking back in the Middle Ages. Historically no less interesting, ‘Crossing The Blades’ sees Running Wild broach the story of the three musketeers from the 17th century, their emblem having been recreated on the cover artwork, once again designed by Jens Reinhold (Virgin Steele, Freedom Call, among others). Rolf: “It`s a kind of hybrid between the cross of the musketeers and our mascot, Adrian.”

Despite these lyrical ambitions, BLOOD ON BLOOD also features two “party rock numbers”, as Rolf likes to refer to them: ‘Wild & Free’ and ‘Wild, Wild Nights’, which are meant to be pure fun, fulfilling their mission to a tee. And last but not least, there’s ‘The Shellback’, a track in typical Running Wild style that starts with a Celtic-inspired intro, Running Wild revisiting the atmospheric seafaring theme of their 1994 classic BLACK HAND IN, a prequel of that maritime story. Equally characteristic of the band, which, in addition to Rolf, guitarist Peter Jordan and bassist Ole Hempelmann, has since 2019 included drummer Michael Wolpers, who contributed all the drum parts on the new disc, are the lead single ‘Diamonds And Pearls’ (including lyric video) and the title track, incidentally the first number Rolf wrote for the new album.

Returning to the prophecy theme, you don't have to be a prophet to be able to anticipate the gleam in the eyes of all Running Wild fans. There can be no doubt about it: BLOOD ON BLOOD presents Running Wild at their best!

"Blood On Blood" will be released on October 29th, 2021 through SPV/Steamhammer in the following configurations:

Manchester's THE SPEED OF SOUND announces 'Museum of Tomorrow' LP, preview 'Tomorrow's World'

"The thoughtfulness that goes into The Speed of Sound’s lyrics and music is precious. Unmistakable sound... a winning formula" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

“New Wave blood, powered by a heartbeat of 1960’s influences” ~ Louder Than War

“Distinctive traces of New York Art Rock and No Wave, often verging on the experimental and psychedelic while never losing its melody and infections catchiness” ~ Sounds

“Moody and intense, yet light and floating at the same time” ~ There Once Was A Note

“A cool mix of punk and The Byrds 5th Dimension LP” ~ Lord Litter

“Balancing spiky abrasiveness with a strong sense of melody” ~ Bliss Aquamarine

British underground music veterans The Speed Of Sound have announced the autumn release of their fifth studio album 'Museum of Tomorrow', to be issued on CD and Deluxe LP via California's Big Stir Records, 32 years to the day the band released their debut EP back in 1989.

Ahead of this, the band reveal the lead track 'Tomorrow's World' as a sweet taster of what's in store for listeners, along with an animated video. The entire 21st century seems to have been mis-sold. This song is a cry of anguish and a re-statement of what should have been. Twelve multilayered synthesizer tracks recreate a flying saucer landing at the end and the ultra-depth in the sound is from bowed bass on the verse-ends and pre-chorus.

From the opening line “We were offered Star Trek, but they fed us Soylent Green” - which is etched into the vinyl - science fiction abounds within the music, positioning The Now simultaneously in the Future and in the Past. We all exist on the edge of forever.

Conceived as two seamless sides, the vinyl edition of this record was mastered as two complete extended pieces: Gallery One and Gallery Two. Korg synthesiser lines, reminiscent of classic Science Fiction incidental music and sound-collages, link the gapless songs.

To date, The Speed of Sound has released eight singles via Big Stir, but 'Museum of Tomorrow' is an all-new experience. While each of these 13 new songs could have been a single, they are gathered in an organically homogeneous collection, showcased within the 'Museum Of Tomorrow'. This is an album made manifest by and for people who like albums.

This is future retro modern music, rooted in a definite 60’s influence but with an 80’s twist. Influenced by The Byrds, Small Faces, The Chords, Siouxsie & The Banshees and XTC, with female and male vocals, The Speed Of Sound merges the power of punk with the floating harmonies of The Byrds. Their sound and alphabetical order places them between Sonic Youth and Dusty Springfield.

The Speed Of Sound formed in Manchester in 1989 with a pre-history dating directly back to the day Andy Warhol died in 1987. Dwelling deep below the ‘music industry radar’ has allowed for the evolution of their own distinct sound, their live act often described totally differently with comparisons from The Stranglers and Television to Jefferson Airplane and The Who.

The Speed Of Sound has continuously produced music that is optimistic and with lyrical bite, a punk-inspired DIY ethos and lust for experimentation rooted in psychedelia. While players have come and gone, the current lineup has largely been the same for four years, including father and son John Armstrong (guitars and vocals) and Henry Armstrong (keyboards), Ann-Marie Crowley (vocals and guitar), Kevin Roache (bass guitar) and John Broadhurst (drums).

'Tomorrow's World' is out on August 14 and will be available via Apple Music and Spotify. On September 17, the 'Museum of Tomorrow' LP will be released digitally, on CD and limited-edition 170g heavy weight vinyl with a choice between black and glorious colour. Vinyl orders include a 16-page full-colour A5 printed Exhibition Guide containing lyrics, full-colour inner sleeve, a separate picture insert, a sticker, a pair of badges/buttons and a bookmark. The album can already be pre-ordered in all formats from Big Stir Records' site.

AETHER REALM Reveals Gripping New "Cycle" Music Video

On U.S. Tour with UNLEASH THE ARCHERS this Fall!

Latest Album, Redneck Vikings From Hell, Available HERE

Sophomore Release, Tarot, Available HERE

North Carolina's AETHER REALM reached new levels of melodic death metal mastery with the release of their latest full-length album, Redneck Vikings From Hell, in 2020. Today, in anticipation of their upcoming U.S. tour with Unleash The Archers and Seven Kingdoms, the band has unveiled a gripping, emotive new video for their triumphant track "Cycle", featuring Michael Rumple (Flood District, Lorelei), off of Redneck Vikings From Hell.

Frontman/bassist Vincent "Jake" Jones says:

“The lyrics for 'Cycle' came to me in a desperate place. I was trying to make sense of why I still experienced these long episodes of depression, even when there didn't seem to be an obvious reason for it to come on. It's like it was always waiting to sneak up and snatch me out of the moment, and no amount of personal growth or skill mastery or artistic recognition could prevent it from taking me in its grip.

So I thought - if I can't prevent the feeling from coming on, I can at least give myself a tangible reminder that this is normal for me. That I've made it out of low places before, and I will again. This song helps keep my feet on the ground when I'm feeling cocky highs, and it gives me some hope when I'm running low. It was a pleasure to turn that emotional blooming and wilting that we all experience from time to time into a visual aesthetic with Jaraad Nageer and Ana Manso."

HARRY STAFFORD (INCA BABIES) and punk-blues veteran MARCO BUTCHER present lead track of joint LP

“The symmetry between the two artists is remarkable... a refreshing track, meshing the grit of blues with an urban thematic. This is dirty but agreeable, weaving straightforward guitar work through the prism of a junkyard instrument approach. Goes down smooth like a good shot of bourbon" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

Harry Stafford and Marco Butcher have never actually met in the flesh. But they are punk soul brothers from the same muddy musical pond. Connecting with one another during a year of ‘lockdown hell’, their exchange of ideas and talk of musical influences inadvertently led to their collaboration.

As innovative juices began to boil, the frenetic exchange of digital files culminated in 'Bone Architecture', a 12-track album that both of them had been itching to make. This superb collection includes reworked older material, brand-new compositions and even a dirty blues version of the Pink Floyd classic 'Arnold Layne'. Ahead of the album, the duo present lead single 'There's Someone Tryin To Get In' with video created by Stafford.

“For me, this record is a blast of energy with a cool raw groove that I have been itching to express for a while and, with Marco Butcher, I found the perfect collaborator to express it. His garage punk soul music, fused with jazz and swing was the tonic I needed after the doldrums of the last year and a half. The songs we put together fell into place like puzzle pieces in a fuzzed up sonic soundscape," says Harry Stafford.

Best known as founder, guitarist and vocalist of Manchester post-punk gothic rockers Inca Babies, Harry’s two most recent solo albums ('Guitar Shaped Hammers' and 'Gothic Urban Blues') reflect a cooler, less frenetic vibe, leaning on piano, trumpets and blues guitar. All this made him the perfect collaborator to set words and lyrics to Marco’s sonic backdrop.

Originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Marco Butcher now lives in Winston Salem, North Carolina. A prolific recording artist, he has recently released music with his various acts: The Jam Messengers, Chicken Snake, and The Jesus and The Groupies. Centred around the American underground of blues, jazz, rockabilly, and screaming punk blues, he has collaborated with Hugo Race, as well as members of Tex and the Horseheads, Pussy Galore, Gumball, The Gories, Gibson Brothers, Jerry Teel, The Oblivians and The Workdogs.

'Bone Architecture' is a collection of songs that is raw and, at times, an unforgiving forage into urban punk blues with fuzzed up jazz and garage trash rock. Here, Harry and Marco’s styles have clashed magnificently into a powerful record that crosses a multitude of genres but with a dirty blues makeover.

“There’s something about collaborating that is pure magic to me, cause you're not sharing ideas at the same time and you're in the moment. There’s something about the not knowing what the other will bring . . the surprise factor. The fact that music is very elastic and not always the way ya listen to it in your mind but something else, something cooler, greater," says Marco Butcher.

"I guess mutual respect has a lot to do it too, sharing the same type of ideas about music and life... For a period of time, Inca Babies 'This Train' was my bandstand music when I was crossing a very dark and dangerous lifestyle, when I decided NOT to die. This album was the one I listened to the most.”

Marco's tracks were recorded at his Boombox Studio in Winston Salem, then shipped by a well-known bulk file sender to Manchester, where Harry laid down vocals, piano and any instrumental tomfoolery he saw fit at Black Lagoon Records. On four occasions, the files also flew to London for supremo trumpet player Kevin Davy to lay some jazz tones into the mix. After the engineering, agonising, production and debates, they were finally mastered by Marco.

As of August 6, 'There's Someone Tryin To Get In' will be available everywhere online, including Spotify and Apple Music. The 'Bone Architecture' LP will be released on September 3 via Black Lagoon Records, both digitally and on CD. CDs can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp and the Louder than War shop.

SPACE OF VARIATIONS Releases Gut-Punching New Single “ULTRABEAT”

Featuring Ukrainian Rap Sensation alyona alyona

Following up to the release of their Napalm Records debut EP XXXXX in 2019, Ukranian metalcore unit SPACE OF VARIATIONS is finally back with a bang, releasing their new single „ULTRABEAT“ today, along with an impressive dystopian music video!

Seamlessly mixing gut-punching riffs and pounding drums with colorful, pulsing synths and elements of hip-hop, the four-piece takes no prisoners from the second the song starts. Dmytro Kozhukhar’s vocals cut through the dense instrumental ever so clear with angry, bold lyrics – reminiscent of legends like BODY COUNT and HATEBREED, as guitarist and singer Olexii Zatserkovnyi then delivers the melodic hook, giving “ULTRABEAT” its unique post-hardcore feel. Finishing off with an insane verse from Ukranian rap sensation alyona alyona, SPACE OF VARIATIONS embodies the spirit of breaking down genres and letting the music speak for itself!

I really let rip here!”

Surrender of Silence is released on 10th September 2021 as a Limited Edition CD+Blu-ray Mediabook in hardcover slipcase, Standard CD Jewel case, Gatefold 2LP+CD & LP-Booklet and Digital Album via Inside Out Music.

Hot on the heels of his classical-acoustic travelogue Under A Mediterranean Sky, which was released in January and hit Number 2 in the UK Classical Album Chart, Surrender of Silence is a further exploration of Hackett’s love of world music, discovering different sounds, moods and textures to deliver a rock album of extraordinary variety, power and beauty.

As with Under A Mediterranean Sky, Surrender of Silence was also recorded during Lockdown and, again, Hackett has called upon some of his musical friends from across the world to contribute. Hackett’s regular touring band of Roger King (keyboards, programming and orchestral arrangements), Rob Townsend (sax, clarinet), Jonas Reingold (bass), Nad Sylvan (vocals) and Craig Blundell (drums) are supplemented by Phil Ehart and Nick D’Virgilio (drums), the vocal talents of Amanda Lehmann, Durga and Lorelei McBroom, Christine Townsend (violin, viola), Malik Mansurov (tar) and Sodirkhon Ubaidulloev (dutar).

This new album is full-on electric…

“Lockdown cobwebs are blown away in one fell-swoop here!” says Steve Hackett. “With the monster rhythm section of Jonas, Craig, Nick and Phil along with Rob’s soaring sax and bass clarinet, Nad, Amanda and myself on vocals, Roger’s darkly powerful organ and my guitar, we plunge full-pelt into that wild release of energy.”

Our journey takes us from the classical orchestrations of Russia (Natalia) to the plains of Africa (Wingbeats) to mysterious Eastern shores (Shanghai To Samarkand), all via the ocean’s depths (Relaxation Music for Sharks (featuring feeding frenzy)). The Devil’s Cathedral pools the talents of Hackett’s entire touring band and features King’s atmospheric Gothic organ and a powerhouse rhythm display from Blundell and Reingold.

Hackett’s vocals have never been bettered and his duet with Amanda Lehmann adds emotion to Scorched Earth a lament for the environmental horrors facing our planet. Throughout Hackett’s guitars add a rich tapestry of colour with soaring solos and intricate weaving melodies.

“It’s a ‘no holds barred’ album,” adds Hackett, “riding that wave, unleashing those demons, dreams and nightmares, all crashing together over the shore.

“I enjoyed the power of this album allowing my guitar to scream in joy and rage… and once again flying across those oceans to distant lands. It’s terrific to connect creatively with musicians from far flung places, particularly when we’ve all been unable to meet. We all have a voice in our cacophony of sound and we cry out together in the Surrender of Silence!

Steve Hackett shares writing credits with both Jo Hackett and Roger King on several tracks. All tracks were recorded by Roger King and produced by Steve Hackett with Roger King at Siren.

About Steve Hackett

Steve Hackett joined Genesis at the beginning of 1971 and gained an international reputation as the guitarist in the band’s classic line-up alongside Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. Hackett’s intricate guitar work was a key element of Genesis’ albums from Nursery Cryme (1971) to Wind And Wuthering (1977) including the classic Selling England By The Pound.

After leaving Genesis at the end of 1977, Hackett’s solo career, which now spans more than 30 albums, has demonstrated his extraordinary versatility with both electric and acoustic guitar. Hackett is renowned as both an immensely talented and innovative rock musician and a virtuoso classical guitarist and composer and this was recognised in 2010 when he was inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame. He has also worked alongside Steve Howe of YES in the supergroup GTR.

Hackett’s compositions take influences from many genres, including jazz, classical and blues. For his later studio works The Night Siren (2017) and At The Edge Of Light (2019) Hackett has explored the influences of world music. Recent tours have seen Hackett celebrate his time with Genesis including a spectacular 2018 tour in which he realised a long-held ambition to perform the works of Genesis live with his band and an orchestra.

The lockdown enforced by the 2020 global pandemic has proven to be a particularly creative period for Hackett. He began by releasing Selling England by the Pound & Spectral Mornings: Live at Hammersmith, a live recording of 2019’s hugely successful tour celebrating that Genesis classic together with the 40th anniversary of one of his most-loved solo albums. Lockdown also gave Hackett the opportunity to write and record two new studio albums, the UK Classical Chart hit Under A Mediterranean Sky and the forthcoming Surrender of Silence.

Century Media Records proudly present a first taste of LUCIFER’s new album “Lucifer IV”!

After the release of the critically acclaimed “Lucifer III” last year, the Swedish/German heavy rock powerhouse didn’t rest on their laurels. With no shows in sight they relentlessly recorded in their studios and released three vinyl 45’s - one with a weighty rendition of TOM WAITS’ “Dirt in The Ground”, one a split with KADAVAR where LUCIFER covered DUST's "Pull Away" and one tearing up the Northern Soul nugget "Gone With The Wind Is My Love" together with Elin from BLUES PILLS.

But not only that, LUCIFER completed their new long player “Lucifer IV”.

Today we present to you the first album single “Wild Hearses”, a forerunner of what’s to come.

The group is ringing in a new chapter and dive even further into the grande realms of colossal old fashioned rock, with a severe morbid twist and certain doom.

LUCIFER invites you to take a wild ride in their 1972 Cadillac hearse past tombs and churches, down the very roads taken by Black Sabbath, Pentagram and Fleetwood Mac before them. Like the Pacific Coast Highway this road isn't new. It's timeless and it's fucking beautiful.

Get psyched and watch the Lyric Video below

“Wild Hearses” is now available on all major streaming platforms: https://lucifer.lnk.to/WildHearses-SingleID

Stay tuned for more news from the church of LUCIFER!

LUCIFER is:

Johanna Platow Andersson – Vocals

Nicke Andersson Platow – Drums

Linus Björklund – Guitar

Martin Nordin – Guitar

Harald Göthblad - Bass

OUT FRIDAY: New albums by Manchester's THE GREAT LEAP FORWARD (power pop)

"First there's the jagged guitar melodics, sweet but never tacky. Then there's the ferocious rhythmic drive. But best of all there's the stylish and witty use of found voices...snatches and snippets of speech and propaganda that are integral to the songs" ~ Stuart Maconie, NME

"An artist with quite the pedigree in terms of output, touring and originality... Cleverly worded, cynical (or is that realistic?), catchy and danceable – a winning formula" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Meeting the advent of the synthesizer ethic head-on" ~ The Guardian

"Full of wordy thoughts on the state of this nation set to an infectious, chirpy dance beat" ~ Ian Gittins, Melody Maker

"Pop shimmering down urban lanes, sprinkling hard dance diatribes, infectious melodies, and lyrics with substance" ~ Up Town Magazine

The Great Leap Forward presents 'Revolt Against An Age of Plenty', his first album in nine years. The solo project of Alan Brown of Manchester agit-postpunk icons BIG FLAME, the long-player will be available as a coloured double-vinyl gatefold LP via Europe's A Turntable Friend Records and also be available for digital download and on gatefold CD with 16-page lyrics booklet.

The video for 'Revolt Against An Age of Plenty' offered a vibrant taste of this vigorous, scintillating and life-affirming 13-track album. Railing against mass consumerism and media control, the accompanying video and imagery was created by Richard Gardner.

British multi-instrumentalist songwriter and lyricist, Alan Brown's legacy as an underground artist has been apparent since 1983. Featured on the influential C86 NME cassette with BIG FLAME, Brown also recorded nine John Peel sessions for BBC Radio One with BIG FLAME (4), The Great Leap Forward (2), A Witness (2) and Inca Babies (1).

Since BIG FLAME's split in 1986, Brown has channeled his work as The Great Leap Forward, writing all songs and lyrics, as well as playing and programming all instruments on recordings.

The new LP features Brown's trademark political digs and social commentary, with incisive political and social commentary layered over sharp yet melodic guitar pop – plus a touch of electro and humour thrown in for good measure. Not surprisingly, the name ‘Revolt Against An Age Of Plenty’ was lifted from an article by one of Brown's favourite social commentators and writers, Jack Common, whose works has inspired him for decades.

"The culmination of four year's writing, this album has a more varied approach than previous releases. Whereas previously I've concentrated on a political approach, this album takes a wider view of the world - perhaps it's an age thing - last year (2020) saw me reach a milestone birthday which I explore in the song 'Can You Kanreki?’, celebrating the Japanese concept of second childhood and re-birth for those hitting 60," says Alan Brown.

"Of course I still provide the trademark political and social vignettes - how could I not - such as the title song of the album 'Revolt Against An Age Of Plenty' – named after a collection of works by the English writer Jack Common in which I rail against mass consumerism and media control."

The Great Leap Forward debuted with the ‘Controlling The Edges Of Tone’ EP in 1987, followed by 1988's ‘A Peck On The Cheek À La Politique’ EP, described by the NME as "conspicuously excellent" and the 12-inch single ‘Who Works The Weather?’

1988's debut album ‘Don't Be Afraid Of Change’ was praised by The Guardian, Melody Maker and other leading magazines, leading to UK and Europe tours with the likes of That Petrol Emotion. In 2007, The Great Leap Forward reformed, releasing albums ‘Finished Unfinished Business’ (2008) and ‘This Is Our Decade of Living Cheaply and Getting By' in (2012).

As of July 30, the 'Revolt Against An Age of Plenty' LP will be available on all formats. Apart from streaming platforms like Spotify and online stores such as Apple Music, it can also be obtained via Bandcamp.

OUT FRIDAY: New albums by FLDPLN (dream electronica)

“A whole new world of electronic-based dreampop... With a perfect sense of space and symmetry,... a sound unlike pretty much anything else out there on the ambient-pop-gaze music landscape" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Electronic reverie... there is some continuity between the blissful escapism of Saks' previous band Sway and FLDPLN... ecstatic yet chill, and harmonious while offering an unexpectedly welcome fusion" ~ The Record Stache

"Up up and away in bliss... an artist that definitely should be explored... dreamy, blissfully textural" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Succulent sonic chill-pill layers combine in reverie, bringing to mind such artists as Slowdive, Bowery Electric, Tycho, South Pacific and Bonobo" ~ Skylight Webzine

Phoenix-based dream-electronic artist FLDPLN presents the 'Escalator' album, loaded with electronic-based dreampop deeply influenced by 80s pop with shoegaze-like textures and an ambient aesthetic, created by layered saxophones and synths.

FLDPLN (“field-plan”) is the solo project of Andrew Saks, former frontman of Southern California shoegaze band Sway. A short time after they split, Andrew put down the guitar to return to his first love - the saxophone - which he has played from the age of 12. Largely electronic, FLDPLN concocts dreamy, blissfully textural songs featuring synthesizers, vocals and layered saxophones.

Preceded by initial singles 'Escalator' and 'Aliso', this long-player was written, produced, recorded and mixed by Andrew Saks at his home studio in Phoenix, Arizona. This follows up his 2018 album 'Let You Down' and his 2021 single 'Cashout', release in 2021.

“Escalator is really the result of my years of dabbling in electronic music production combined with my desire to reconnect with my roots, having been a saxophone player for most of my life," says Andrew Saks.

"For this album, I wanted to write songs that are true to the way I hear things in my head, dreamy, blurry, beautiful without compromise and incorporate the horn as a textural instrument as well as another melodic voice.”

The idea behind FLDPLN was to incorporate Saks' love for electronic music production and early 90’s post-punk sensibilities, while allowing saxophones and synthesizers to be used to fill-in texturally, where guitars have typically been the fundamental building element of the “shoegaze” and “dream pop” sub-genres. Saxophone textures are layered, at times co-mingling with synthesizers to create a soft, warm bed of sound, the perfect backdrop for the whisper-like vocals reminiscent of Andrew’s hushed voice with Sway.

At times, Andrew’s horn playing features soaring leads that lift the dreamlike and serene to near-anthemic heights while, in other instances, they convey an emotional, whisper-like voice. While certainly nowhere near new to experimental music, the tone and texture of the saxophone in this context effectively lends itself to ethereal lullabies and reflective daydreams.

While textures and sound are an integral component of the music, Andrew does not shy away from hook-laden songwriting. This music is highly influenced by childhood memories of going to bed each night, falling asleep with Walkman headphones on and later waking up in the darkness, in a partial dream-state with the pop songs of the 1980’s - Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Bruce Springsteen, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, Debbie Gibson, Human League still whispering in his ears.

As of July 30, the 'Escalator' LP will be available via the Sillas Famosas label, through online stores such as Apple Music and streaming platforms like Spotify. The album can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp.

JINJER Reaches Aggressive New Levels with Second Single + Music Video “Mediator”!

Highly Anticipated New Album, Wallflowers, Out August 27 via Napalm Records

Save Your Copy NOW!

“Hardly any band writes such a grandiose story as JINJER."

- FUZE GER -

"'A band where everyone seems to play percussion and write their own rules, only to break them and rewrite them again.”

- SWEDEN ROCK -

JINJER’s most aggressive and melancholy album to date”

- REVOLVER US -

The announcement of the brand new JINJER record, Wallflowers, out August 27 via Napalm Records, has not only caused immediate ripples around the world and delighted international reviewers and fans alike, but the band’s first single, “Vortex”, has already gained 2.5 million cross-platform streams/views in no time.

Continuing their unstoppable way to the top, the band has just released their head-splitting second single “Mediator” and a brand-new crushing music video. The second track cut from the new album demonstrates once again that their unique sonic vision combined with visual attitude is more than peerless. Frenetic drumming combined with technically adept, fast firing bass and guitar attacks, merging with the unmatched mix of Tatiana Shmayluk’s clear vocals, pungent rap-like passages and ferocious growling. The track’s high-quality audiovisual bombardment draws the viewer into the spell of the progressive spectacle and constructs the visual antithesis of the postmodern utopia thematized within the track.

JINJER on the tone of the new single:

“With years getting older, we often realize that the world around us is far from what we expected it to be. Through the eyes of a kid everything seemed way more colorful, better and optimistic, didn't it? When did it all turn wrong? When did it all turn so gray? Is this really the world's fault? Or it is only about us chasing the wrong goals... the wrong careers, ambitions and achievements, rather than embracing one important truth... Rephrasing John Lennon, if one chases something else other than happiness, then they didn't understand life at all …”

Watch/Listen to “Mediator”

Already regarded as one of the most anticipated metal albums of the year, with Wallflowers,JINJER once again prove their exceptional knack for mixing groove, prog, alternative and experimental influences to create a sound unlike anything that has ever come before it.

Eugene Abdukhanov on the new album:

“Growing creatively has always been a major goal for us. The day JINJER stops reaching for new musical horizons will be our last day as a band. We could have churned out what our peers expected us to do, or produce ‘Pisces’ clones without end, but we’ve never done that and we never will. Instead, we wrote an album whose level of emotions range from the fiercest aggression we’ve ever had, to the most intricate melodies and melancholic vibes you could ever get from our music. We decided to rip apart all possible stylistic boundaries without regard to financial success or competing with our previous albums. Wallflowers is a different kind of album musically and visually. It’s about our identity as a band, as individuals and a clear statement that we are different from most artists… and that it is OK to do your own thing.”

Pre-Order Your Copy of Wallflowers NOW:

Wallflowers not only presents a methodical and premeditated next step in the band's already imposing career, but moreover, it mirrors the personal adversities they’ve faced due to the worldwide events of the last year. Wallflowers is not only an upgrade to the progressive groove metal sound that all JINJER fans crave, but also a sonic pressure cooker of technical musicianship, emotional fury and an intense soundtrack befitting the harrowing state of the world today. Hailing from the conflict-ridden Ukrainian region of Donetsk but now calling Kiev their home base, JINJER truly do not mince words – or riffs – on Wallflowers. Their exceptional precision of modern metal paired with tough as nails attitude has earned them a fiercely loyal, rabid fanbase and massive critical acclaim, making JINJER one of the most talked about bands today and garnering them many sold out performances across the globe. With nearly all of JINJER’s releases composed between vans, backstage rooms and constant touring, Wallflowers continues where its predecessor Macro left off, only this time with less distraction and more time to focus on songwriting.

Wallflowers will be available in the following formats via Napalm Records:

- Deluxe Box (Hand-Numbered Box, Limited Shirt (different sizes available), 7" Black incl. 2 Bonus Tracks, CD Digipak (Sleeve)) - Limited to 1000 Copies (Napalm Mailorder ONLY)

After 40 Years - GOTTA MOVE by The Pumps released on CD for the first time

mail-84.jpeg

You look pretty cool,
You look pretty nice
Well let me give you a little advise
You driving me into a nervous wreck
And all I want is a little success
Just a little success
Just a little success

- The Pumps, “Success”, 1980

The music roots of Winnipeg, Manitoba run deep with more than “just a little success” with the international prominence of Neil Young, The Guess Who, B.T.O. and Burton Cummings setting a high standard. Throughout the 70s a homegrown rock sound continued to evolve in Western Canada and while acts like Loverboy and Trooper were finding international success, The Prairies would brew their own driving beats with acts like Streetheart, Harlequin, Queen City Kids and ... THE PUMPS.

Formed in 1978 by taking their name from a random pick in a local phone book, THE PUMPS consisted of the unmistakable vocals of bassist Chris Burke-Gaffney and drummer Terry Norman Taylor (TNT). Joined by quirky guitarist Lou Petrovich, who was compared to greats like Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, and Brent Diamond's tapestry of keyboards creating a lush background, THE PUMPS unique blend of infectious pop/rock and high energy live shows made them a regular on the touring circuit opening for acts such as AC/DC, Triumph and Styx.

THE PUMPS quickly signed an international recording deal with Polydor Records in 1979 and flew to Le Studio in Morin Heights, Quebec to record their debut album with British producers Phil Chapman and Jon Astley at the helm. Gotta Move was released in 1980 to critical acclaim. The powerful singles “Success,” “Coffee With The Queen” and “Bust The TV” become staples on Canadian rock radio airwaves through the 80s.

In 1983, the group signed with CBS/Portrait, changed their name to ORPHAN and released 2 more albums. The single “Miracle” was a top 10 hit. In 1991, Burke-Gaffney and Taylor briefly reunited to release one album as The Deadbeat Honeymooners.

Vocalist Chris Burke-Gaffney would go on to form CBG Artist Development to manage and develop singer/songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk, co-writing and producing her Juno Award-winning and triple-platinum album, Under These Rocks and Stones. He continues to develop new artists gaining accolades, chart success and Juno nominations along the way.

The unique story of THE PUMPS & ORPHAN was told by film maker Terry Goring in the 2016 documentary “Just Little Success.” The group continues to perform live on the classic rock circuit as THE PUMPS & ORPHAN with Burke-Gaffney, Taylor, Diamond and Orphan guitarist Steve McGovern.

Gotta Move is finally released on CD for the first time by Music In Motion Entertainment as Gotta Move - The 40th Anniversary Edition. Fully remastered, Gotta Move includes 4 bonus tracks : An early live recording of “Bust The TV,” an equally early recording of “Steel & Iron” (which would eventually appear on the ORPHAN disc Salute), the radio edit of their biggest hit “Success” and a brand new acoustic version of “Coffee With The Queen.”

Gotta Move is licensed for distribution by Music In Motion Entertainment.
Gotta Move is available through their webstore on RockPaperMerch.com
Gotta Move is distributed to retail worldwide exclusively by Isotope Music Inc

Las Vegas, NV based dark Rock/Pop/Industrial artist rue voxhas released the official music video for her new single, "90s Villain." Featuring BUTCHER BABIES'S HENRY FLURY and HEIDI SHEPHERD as well as CHRIS KAEL of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH and directed by SHANE and DEED of SonStudios, the visceral music video follows the songstress through a series of brutal murders of seduced victims until her own murder at the denouement of the saga.

“90s Villain shows how our character defects can find a way to take us out in the end. I wrote this song to kind of call myself out in how I’ve been a terrible girlfriend in my past. In the video I’m a serial killer who ends up getting murdered by her would-be-victim. It symbolizes how the worst parts of us have to die, sometimes involuntarily, in order for us to truly live.” - rue vox

“rue vox is a beast of a talent behind the microphone and her creativity doesn’t stop there. She came to me with the inspiration for her music video to be a female slasher and the epitome of a 90s Villain. We took our love of giallo films to the next level and delivered a pulp-esque style short film.
We shot on Red camera with appearances by Butcher Babies and 5FDP’s Chris Kael, and all slated in the dingiest, grimiest motel on the Las Vegas Strip as each victim plays the odds with a seductress.

And so the slaughterhouse began.” - Shane O’Neal

Bursting onto the scene like a supernova, with breathtaking vocals & a brilliant hybrid sound of her own that explores the wild depths of Rock/Pop/Industrial – Rue’s undeniably edgy style instantly got the buzz surrounding her music going strong. Able to deliver the most delicate of melodies with precision & heart, to the most extreme hard-hitting moments designed to take her vocals to the limits & beyond – Rue’s astounding voice is every bit as captivating as it is charismatic. Pre-order/save "The Duets Collection, Vol. 1" on CD/Color Vinyl/Digital HERE: https://orcd.co/jssduets

Using the down time from his normally relentless touring activity due to the worldwide pandemic, renowned vocalist Jeff Scott Soto decided to create a very special album which pays tribute to some of the classic songs he has recorded over the course of his storied career. But, rather than simple re-records, he wanted to make the album something special, unique. So, not only did he re-record these songs with his musical friends Jorge Salan, Howie Simon (guitars), Leo Mancini (guitars), Tony Dickinson (bass) and Edu Cominato (drums), but he called in some of his fellow rock friends/vocalists to create a unique DUETS album. With the likes of Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse, W.E.T.), Eric Martin (Mr. Big), Johnny Gioeli (Hardline), Deen Castronovo (Revolution Saints, Journey), Nathan James (Inglorious), Russell Allen (Symphony X), Renan Zonta (Electric Mob), Dino Jelusick, Mats Leven (Candlemass, TSO), BJ (Spektra, SOTO), and Aliro Netto (Shaman, Queen Extravaganza), this is an amazing international affair.

The track listing alone will surely make any JSS fan excited, much less hearing the final product. Where can you get such an amazing list of singers and songs all in the same place?

Jeff says, "It was a DREAM to cast these voices and I am so amped for you to hear the results…”

Jeff Scott Soto is a man that needs virtually no introduction to any discerning melodic rock fan. Jeff launched his career at the young age of 18 years old in tremendous fashion as the lead vocalist for Yngwie Malmsteen’s debut album, "Rising Force" and the sophomore album, “Marching Out”. That first step into the spotlight has led to a career that has seen Jeff play and work with an outstanding number of artists and genres from the AOR of Eyes and Takara, to the hard rock and metal of Talisman, Axel Rudi Pell, Soul SirkUS, and of course, his time with the legendary Journey. Jeff has also maintained a solo career over the past decades, while also recently joining up with the progressive metal supergroup Sons of Apollo.

The rise of American black metal is a cult movement whose vast influence and growth cannot be ignored. Houston’s Necrofier carries this torch, embodying the hallmarks of melodic black metal while embracing their Texas roots, delivering what can only be described as total Southern darkness as they bridge the divide between true Norwegian black metal and American gothic.

In the fall of 2018, fate coalesced when vocalist/guitarist Bakka Larson (VENOMOUS MAXIMUS, NIGHT COBRA) saw an open call on social media from drummer Dobber Beverly (OCEANS OF SLUMBER, INSECT WARFARE) who was looking to work on a traditional heavy metal project. Larson had already been working on black metal songs as an outlet to explore the themes of the supernatural and unknown and exploring this darkness, so he jumped on the opportunity and quickly reached out. The two immediately connected over their shared passion to create dark, old school music in which they could inject their Southern flair.

The duo eventually recruited Beverly’s OCEANS OF SLUMBER counterpart and bassist Mat Valentine and soon wrote and released a debut EP, ‘Visions in Fire,’ which channeled the spirit of late-era DISSECTION, WATAIN, CLOAK, and TRIBULATION while staying true to their own homegrown sensibilities.

Not long after the EP release, the band scored an opening slot with UADA. Needing a second guitarist to fill out the sound, Josh Bokemeyer (CHURCH OF DISGUST) was eventually tapped to fill that role, completing the band’s inception.

The four-piece later released a music video for the EP title track and went on to perform with a vast array of their black metal brethren such as 1349, Goatwhore, and Cloak, including an appearance at a coveted SXSW showcase. Now, the band is emerging from the darkness of 2021, ready to fan the unholy flames and finally release their devastating debut full-length, ‘Prophecies of Eternal Darkness.’

With the immaculate songwriting skills and the perfect balance between harsh death metal fueled outbursts and exquisite melodic melancholy, HOODED MENACE unleash skeletal horror and somber despair onto their craving audience with 'The Tritonus Bell'!

HOODED MENACE were formed in Joensuu, Finland in 2007 by guitarist Lasse Pyykkö, who had also performed in the Finnish cult death metal band PHLEGETHON. The band has always avowed to the strong influence by early CANDLEMASS and CATHEDRAL as well as PARADISE LOST, AUTOPSY, ASPHYX, and WINTER. Their lyrics are often inspired by the classic 1970’s Spanish horror movie series ‘The Blind Dead’.

HOODED MENACE recorded a 2-track demo, ‘The Eyeless Horde’ in 2007, which was released on 7″ the following year. Their debut album ‘Fulfill the Curse’ was released in 2008 and the highly acclaimed sophomore full-length ‘Never Cross the Dead’ came out in 2010. With a penchant for classic vinyl, the Finns also released several split singles and EP's, for example with ASPHYX and COFFINS, before delivering their full lengths 'Effigies of Evil' (2012) and ‘Darkness Drips Forth’ (2015). HOODED MENACE remained in a highly creative mode during their latest full length ‘Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed’ which was released in 2018 via Season of Mist.

With their upcoming sixth album 'The Tritonus Bell', HOODED MENACE threw in more classic 80´s Heavy Metal, such as KING DIAMOND and MERCYFUL FATE, resulting to the most up tempo (but never fast) HOODED MENACEalbum with the catchiest song material to date!
