The trio consists of Adi Elcida Hernandez on vocals/guitar/sampling, Ernesto Paez on the double neck guitar bass and Justin Perez on drums.. Their music can be best described as "Future Goth," a term they coined in order to explain the fusion of alternative heavy guitar riffs, powerfully haunting vocals, subconscious provoking lyrics, electronic drums, and catchy pop melodies. The band has released a new song titled "Karmic Fortune" to all digital outlets. In addition, the band has announced that they will be playing Rock Fest 2021 on Wednesday July 14, 2021 alongside Queensryche, Slaughter and more.

Everything is energy, a cycle. The cycle repeats until you get it right and then a new one begins. A perpetual spiral of you. As we embark on releasing our 3rd body of work, Portals, on my (Adi’s) 33rd year of life on this earth, we have expanded as a band. We welcome our 3rd member, Justin Perez on the drums. The message is the same, told with new wisdom and perspective, maturation and acceptance. There was a franticness in our previous work, an urgency to forewarn of a future not yet understood. Now we all find ourselves in a state of no security for the whole world but instead of approaching it in the old patterns of franticness, there is an unshaken stillness.

We aren’t saints. We aren’t prophets. We are simply emphatic people with an ear to the whispers of the future. When the waves of messages come, we put it into songs and let the spirits guide us. We stand for strength, grounding, magic, becoming, expansion; opening the doors to your own portals.

We are Modern Mimes.

ANOTHER DAY DAWNS Release Official Music Video for "Never Okay"!

Lehighton, PA Hard Alternative Rock Band ANOTHER DAY DAWNS has released the official music video for their single, "Never Ok," off of their recently released EP, Stranger. Directed by Cyrus Entezam, the track was produced by 900 Management and 900 Records.

“I wanted to get the message out to people that everyone has their own daily struggles. It's something that needs to be addressed whether we see it or not. I think everyone should hear this. It’s okay to not be okay 100% of the time. I feel that’s what makes the people who are wanting to reach out for help or to talk to a really awkward spot because we put all the focus on that. It's not ok to point at the fact at how weird they are or different they are, let alone ourselves. There’s gonna be days where we wish we didn’t wake up but we have to push through that mental block that keeps fighting us. The message I wanted to get with this song is, you’re not alone. Many of us hide our problems from society and I think that’s something we as people should help each other more with. Our minds can be a scary place sometimes and all we need is that little bit of comfort to feel alright “ - DAKOTA SEAN

Formed in 2010 the Lehighton, PA based band Another Day Dawns was one of the most talked about up and coming rock acts in the U.S. due to their recent success at radio as an unsigned artist. Led by Lead Singer and front man Dakota Sean, Guitarist Tyler Ritter, Bass Player Jerome Betz, and Drummer Nick McGeehan, the band released their EP Stranger in January 2020 with a massive buzz on a national level. The band landed two Top 40 hits on Mediabase and Billboard independently with their songs "Taste of Heaven" and "Forget Me Not" which solidified their foundation in the active rock market.

Hitting the road with bands such as HinderIssuesCold, and Buckcherry, the band has created an established following in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. Throughout the last two years the band has performed in multiple venues with 400-1200 capacity, filling hundreds of seats, and grossing over 17K in followers on their social media accounts.

GIZMACHI Announce Upcoming Studio Album 'Omega Kaleid' Band Releases New Single "Broken Ends"

Image 11-30-20 at 7.49 PM.JPG

After 8 long years in hiding, New York-based metal outfit GIZMACHI have finally set a release date for their sophomore album. The record comes 16 years after the band's 2005 debut LP, 'The Imbuing', which was produced by Shawn Crahan (Slipknot), mixed by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Gojira), and would ultimately land GIZMACHI a slot on the 2005 Ozzfest.

GIZMACHI will release their new album, titled 'Omega Kaleid' on March 12th, 2021 via CEN/The Orchard (a division of Sony Music). The record was produced and engineered by Jay Hannon (Byzantine, Gods Below Us), mixed by Mark Lewis (Devildriver, Whitechapel, The Black Dahlia Murder), and vocal duties were handled by none other than Björn “Speed” Strid of Soilwork.
New Single "Broken Ends" - LISTEN HERE

Speaking about his role on the upcoming record, Björn shares, “Being a part of the new Gizmachi record was one of the most challenging adventures I’ve experienced. I can honestly say that I’ve grown as a metal singer since recording these vocals.”

Fans eager for their first taste of 'Omega Kaleid' can check out the record's new single, "Broken Ends", which is available now on all digital and streaming platforms via the link found here.

About GIZMACHI:

Gizmachi is an American metal band hailing from the heart of Orange County, New York. The band was founded in 1996 by lead guitarist Jay Hannon and bassist Kris Gilmore. After a few line-up changes early on in their careers, they discovered drummer Jimmie Hatcher and guitarist/vocalist Mike Laurino, who round out their current lineup.

Gizmachi quickly gained popularity among the local hardcore/metal scene and brought forth their twist of heavy metal with a mixture of brutally melodic vocals, offbeat time signatures, and epic guitar solos. The band caught the eyes and ears of percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan of famed metal band Slipknot. In 2004 they signed to his label, 'Big Orange Clown', a subsidiary of Sanctuary Records. Gizmachi’s debut album, The Imbuing, was released May 3rd, 2005.

From 2005-2006, Gizmachi spent time on the road supporting The Imbuing. Their most noted tours include high profile festivals such as Ozzfest and Rock AM Ring in Europe. They’ve shared the stage with legendary acts including Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Soilwork, Meshuggah, Mastodon, and Slipknot.

Now, after a (very) long hiatus, Gizmachi is set to release their sophomore album, titled 'Omega Kaleid'. The album was produced and engineered by guitarist Jay Hannon and mixed by Mark Lewis (Devildriver, White Chapel, The Black Dahlia Murder)

"The Year 2020 has brought many challenges for all of us: Taal Volcano eruption in January, Typhoon Vamco/Ulysses in November and the ongoing COVID crisis. Every single one of you has played the hero one way or another. Thank you for your commitment and dedication. Thank you for your collaboration, compassion and courage. Thank you for providing exceptional care and - most importantly - thank you for giving us hope during these uncertain times. APFI volunteers and donors have been - and are still - doing what we can with all that we have" Love, Arnel and APFI.

Bob Winegard, President of Imagen Records, adds, "I'm really excited to release the song and have Arnel as part of the Imagen family!"

Arnel is also a philanthropist with his own foundation called Arnel Pineda Foundation, Inc. (APFI) is a non-stock, non-profit, and independent Philippine foundation that provides underprivileged children quality education, health services and medical attention.

For millions of youth in developing countries like the Philippines, education is seemingly beyond reach. Poverty and inadequate government support stifle the future aspirations of Filipino children. Hence, Arnel Pineda Foundation, Inc. (APFI) was formed, principally to address their sad plight by preparing them for a brighter future through education.

For APFI founder Arnel Pineda, the story starts the day he set foot on the streets of Manila, trying to survive on his own at the age of 14. Following his beloved mother’s illness that put his family in dire financial straits, Arnel experienced first-hand that survival for a street kid is a persistent – and most often – losing battle.

Today, blessed with the ability to give back, Arnel mobilizes his team to join the battle against poverty and its ensuing havoc on Philippine youth. His ongoing tenure as frontman of the American rock band Journey has allowed many individuals with shared goals to know him and join in helping children rise above their circumstances.

YASHIRA SHARES NEW SINGLE “SHADES ERASED” FEATURING DYLAN WALKER FROM FULL OF HELL

"Shades Erased" from the album "Fail To Be" out December 11, 2020 on Good Fight Music. Guest vocals by Dylan Walker. Pre-order LP / CD / Digital and exclusiv...

SOPHOMORE ALBUM FAIL TO BE
OUT DECEMBER 11, 2020 VIA GOOD FIGHT MUSIC

YASHIRA has released their latest single today titled "Shades Erased" that features Dylan Walker from FULL OF HELL. The new song is the third to be released off their sophomore full-length LP Fail To Be, slated for release on December 11, 2020, via Good Fight Music. "Shades Erased" expands further upon the band's devastating execution of unique song structures, mixed with plenty of doom and countless memorable riffs. This new drop follows the singles "Shards of Heaven" and "Impasse" that gathered critical acclaim earlier this fall. The cover art for Fail To Be was done by Jesse Draxler (DAUGHTERS/NINE INCH NAILS).

Speaking on “Shades Erased”, the band says: “‘Shades Erased’ centers on the growing disparity between human and technological capabilities. At the pace technology is advancing, we'll soon reach the point where the option of intellectual augmentation becomes a reality. Considering the likelihood that many will embrace any chance to enhance themselves, the title relates to the human condition as it's known turning obsolete; similar to the way physical products and processes transitioned to digital formats.”

Fail To Be is the anticipated follow up to Shrine, which garnered high praise when it was released in 2018. Metal Injection famously said, "Standing at six songs long and about 6,000 riffs, Yashira's ‘Shrine’ will completely and utterly flatten you in every way possible throughout its runtime."

Fail To Be was produced by Greg Thomas (MISERY SIGNALS, SHAI HULUD) and YASHIRA. Engineered and mixed by Greg Thomas and Chris Teti at Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, Connecticut. Pre saves and pre-orders are available here.

The band continues, "Writing for this record began right after Shrine was released. Seth was still with us while we were writing for this; the sound was evolving a lot from the beginning stages up to when he passed. When we decided to move forward with Ryan, all we had were very blown-out voice memo recordings of the songs, so there was a lot of necessary reworking. For the tracks to be as good as they could be, we wrote to our chemistry and strengths with Ryan, and with a much more pinpointed idea of what we wanted out of our sound, we were able to get into a groove.”

"Recording ‘Fail To Be’ was a different experience for all of us. We'd never been in a studio setting like we were at Silver Bullet as far as putting aside three weeks to crank out a record. We learned a lot from working with Greg and Chris on so many different levels. This setting had us eating/sleeping/breathing this record, and that kind of environment brought out a focus none of us had ever known. We were all dialed in, and we think it shows. Us, Greg and Chris were able to create something we're all very proud of making."

NEW BOOK, ‘JOHN WINSTON ONO LENNON,’ MARKS 40 YEARS SINCE THE ICONIC BEATLE’S PASSING

Image 11-24-20 at 5.53 PM.JPG

Few rock artists were as fearless and uncompromising as the late/great John Lennon. Whether it be standing up for causes he believed in, promoting peace, or penning some of rock’s all-time classic tunes (while taking unexpected musical twists and turns along the way), Lennon has become one of rock’s most unforgettable figures. Tragically, his voice was silenced on December 8, 1980 (shortly after turning 40) – just as he had re-entered the public eye, after a five-year sabbatical.

Assembled by author/journalist Greg Prato, the just-released book, 'John Winston Ono Lennon,' provides interesting/uncommon observations and viewpoints into the brilliance of this truly legendary artist. Comprised of interviews with those who worked alongside him (Bob Gruen, Gary Van Scyoc, Bun E. Carlos), admirers of his music (Kasim Sulton, Frank Black, Rufus Wainwright, Ace Frehley, Mike Portnoy), and Beatle experts ('Recording the Beatles' co-author Brian Kehew, editor/publisher of 'The 910' newsletter Doug Sulpy, Beatlemania member Mitch Weissman, DJ/VJ Matt Pinfield), among many others.

Priced at $15.99 for the paperback and $9.99 for the Kindle version, the book is Prato’s fourth release this year – which included books issued in tribute to other fallen rock legends, including AC/DC’s Bon Scott (‘A Rockin' Rollin' Man: Bon Scott Remembered’), Jimi Hendrix (‘Avatar Of The Electric Guitar: The Genius Of Jimi Hendrix’), and Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham (‘BONZO: 30 Rock Drummers Remember the Legendary John Bonham’).

Greg Prato is a writer and journalist from New York, whose writing has appeared via such outlets as Songfacts, Vintage Guitar Magazine, and Consequence of Sound. He is also the author of several popular books, including ‘Grunge Is Dead: The Oral History of Seattle Rock Music,’ ‘The Yacht Rock Book,’ and ‘MTV Ruled the World: The Early Years of Music Video,’ among many others. And you may have even heard him on one of his many radio or TV appearances, which include interviews on ‘The Howard Stern Wrap-Up Show,’ ‘Eddie Trunk Live,’ and ‘Feedback (with Nik Carter and Lori Majewski).’ 'John Winston Ono Lennon' is his 33rd book overall.

ABYSMAL DAWN Frontman Jams with Members of Megadeth, Testament, and Carcass for Metal Injection Performance

"Living Dead" by Entombed performed by: Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth) Steve DiGiorgio (Testament / Ex-Death) Tom Draper (Carcass) Charles Elliot (Abysmal Dawn) R...

Guitarist/Vocalist Charles Elliott of Los Angeles death metal icons ABYSMAL DAWN performed a cover of ENTOMBED's "Living Dead" with drummer Dirk Verbeuren (MEGADETH), bassist Steve DiGiorgio (TESTAMENT, ex-DEATH), and guitarist Tom Draper (CARCASS)! The performance was a part of the November installment of Metal Injection's Slay at Home Festival, which took place this past Friday, November 20 via the official Metal Injection YouTube, which benefited the Animal Welfare Institute.

Earlier this year, ABYSMAL DAWN was featured on the cover of Issue #52 of New Noise Magazine, which was released in April 2020! Along with an in-depth interview with mainman Charles Elliott, the issue included an exclusive flexi disc of the band's brand new cover of CANDLEMASS' "Bewitched." The song is now available for streaming and download via all digital services at THIS LOCATION.

In addition, drummer James Coppolino of Los Angeles recently teamed up with Sick Drummer magazine to share the drum play-through for the song "The Path of the Totalitarian." The song is taken from the band's 2020 release, 'Phylogenesis.' Watch the video at THIS LOCATION.

The band is supporting their new release, 'Phylogenesis,' which is out NOW and can be ordered and streamed HERE.

American death metal masters Abysmal Dawn are back! After a six-year gap, the Los Angeles-based outfit and Season of Mist hereby present Phylogenesis. Not that Abysmal Dawn have laid low since the release of 2014’s lauded Obsolescence full-length. Far from it. They toured North America four times and hit Europe and South America for the first time. Meanwhile, founding member Charles Elliott opened his studio, Tastemaker Audio, to accelerate Abysmal Dawn's own recording needs, as well to act as a bridge to other bands in need of a knowledgeable and relatable audio technician. But the road to Phylogenesis wasn’t an easy one. Besides work-horsing it throughout the U.S., Canada, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Brazil, Chile, and beyond in support of Obsolescence, Elliott and crew managed through some of the lowest points in Abysmal Dawn’s career. Internal strife, administrative burdens, musical differences, and motivation all had their various ways with the Californians. Yet, from the darkest depths, they prevailed, heralding a new chapter in the group’s storied history. Indeed, Phylogenesis is Abysmal Dawn’s rebirth!

“There was a brief period after doing two months of touring back-to-back in the U.S. and Europe in 2015 that I almost felt like calling it quits,” Abysmal Dawn’s Charles Elliott says. "It was our first time in Europe and I just had a hard time enjoying it. The band had grown, and I was a bit tired of having to handle most of the managerial aspects of what we do. The joy had been ripped from things and people weren't getting along, and some people acted like they didn't want to be there. But we went our separate ways with some of the members and all of a sudden, the band was fun again. They went on to other things and we're probably all happier in the end. Sometimes, I feel it's a miracle this album or band even still exists. I've avoided swearing on our records in the past, but the album's opening line is actually, 'Fuck you all!' Maybe it's primitive by our past lyrical standards but it's genuine and it's the most heartfelt, ‘Fuck you, we’re still here’ I could put on a record. I’m glad we stuck it out because I think this is our proudest moment so far.”

To say Phylogenesis is an extension or continuation of Obsolescence isn’t exactly as straightforward as it should be. On one hand, all the Abysmal Dawn trademarks—technicality, brutality, and melody—remain ingrained in the songwriting fabric. On the other, the band’s fifth full-length is more cohesive, rhythmically sophisticated, and far more adventurous. Elliott calls it “a major evolution.” Certainly, the six years of constant refinement, edge smoothing, and transition adjustments have paid off. What started as jam sessions between Elliott, bassist Eliseo Garcia, and drummer James Coppolino in 2016 eventually turned into one-offs. That there was no time limit to put Phylogenesis together ended up both a blessing and a curse. Total creative freedom at very little expense is a dream scenario, something a band of Abysmal Dawn’s stature took advantage of for their magnum opus. But without a ticking clock and dollars burning, the pressure to focus was far less severe, resulting in delays and feature creep.

“It was basically James, Eliseo and me meeting up at my place, jamming on ideas, seeing what worked and tweaking them from there,” says Elliott. “With the exception of ‘Hedonistic,’ James wrote all his drum parts. Obsolescence was demoed with me programming all the drums since our drummer at the time had moved up north. It was what it was, but it was pretty frustrating at the time. Having someone to bounce ideas off of in real-time, helped in maintaining the joy and momentum of making this album. Once it was time to record bass and leads, Eliseo and Vito [Petroni; guitars] would trickle in when they had ideas. We had no real deadline and seemingly infinite time to do things. Admittedly, I think it was hard for me to focus on the lyrics, not only because of things in my personal life but because I was focused on getting the guys in to complete their parts so I could focus.”

Finish Phylogenesis they did, in fact. Under significant duress, Abysmal Dawn had overcome their roadblocks. The results of the group’s undulating professional and personal schedules aren’t to be trifled with, however. Opening track “Mundane Existence” is a firestorm of labyrinthine yet savage riffs, enraged vocals, and machine-gun drumming. It’s death metal personified, enlightened, and perfected. Elsewhere, tracks such as “The Path of the Totalitarian,” “A Speck in the Fabric of Eternity,” and “Soul-Sick Nation” (feat. Fredrik Folkare of Unleashed, Firespawn, et al.) pose real threats to the status quo. In all three, Elliott’s passion for and dominance of death metal’s tenets are tangible. But there’s more to Abysmal Dawn on Phylogenesis than customary ritual. From the ruthless groove of “Hedonistic” and the staccato stabs of “Coerced Evolution” to the late album gem “The Lament Configuration” and the blistering cover of Death classic “Flattening of Emotion,” the songs are designed to slay in ways we’re just beginning to understand.

“We’re a pretty brutal death metal band, but what I feel like sets us apart is that no matter what we do there’s always some underlying sense of melody and hooks,” Elliott says. “There are lots of bands that are ridiculously brutal. There are lots of bands that are over-the-top technically or are blatantly melodic. We combine all that but we try to write something that sticks with you over time; that you'll keep coming back to, and that works well in the live environment. We love all types of music, whether it's fusion or industrial music, and it shines through here and there. But in the end, though, we're a pure death metal band at heart trying to retain that old-school feel with an updated take for a new generation.”

Conceptually, Phylogenesis deals with the breakdown of social constructs humans have built over time. The album title is defined by the evolution of (or diversification) a species. So, Phylogenesis is an ironic take on Elliott’s observations, particularly how social media has accelerated and exacerbated the de-evolution of humanity’s interactive abilities. The cover art, again by Swedish artist Pär Olofsson, isn’t directly correlated to the lyrical narrative, but it does continue where Obsolescence left off. The Olofsson cover art has envisioned what it’s like on the inside of the Obsolescence tower, and that it’s humans that are being fed back to humans. The cover art continuity is akin to Richard Fleischer’s famed Soylent Green film but ripped through Elliott’s demented death metal lens.

“I think the lyrics deal a lot with things we encounter in our modern society and the effect it has on the individual,” says Elliott. “The dehumanization effect and divisiveness caused by bickering on social media (‘The Path of the Totalitarian’), the decay of legitimate journalism (‘True to the Blind’), struggling to find purpose in the pursuit of happiness (‘Hedonistic’), wishing something was greater than yourself (‘Mundane Existence’), the mental illness epidemic (‘Soul-Sick Nation’), embracing pain over numbness to feel alive (‘The Lament Configuration’), having our consciousnesses uploaded to a grid in order to make life sustainable on Earth (‘Coerced Evolution’), and the common theme throughout the band of wishing life on Earth would just start over (‘A Speck in the Fabric of Eternity’). I had started off wanting it to be a concept record but later scrapped that idea because I didn't like how it was going. In the end though, it just naturally all tied together in some way. Even the Death cover seemed to fit lyrically in hindsight. ‘Coerced Evolution’ is really the only song that in the sci-fi vein this time around. As for Pär, yes, he did the cover art once again. We love working with him and we’ve been creating great covers with him since 2006.”

Abysmal Dawn recorded Phylogenesis over a multi-year timeframe. In fact, Coppolino’s drums were tracked as far back as 2017 with long-time collaborator John Haddad at Trench Studios. The rhythm guitars and vocals, as produced by Mike Bear and Elliott, were also done at Tastemaker Audio the same year. So, some of Phylogenesis goes back, but the parts are no less lethal. Slowly but surely, the group’s newest and greatest materialized, with Elliott finishing the lead guitars, bass, additional vocals, re-amping, and mixing sessions in 2019, again at Tastemaker Audio. Abysmal Dawn then packaged up their fifth for mastering ace Tony Lindgren (Rotting Christ) to handle at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. Contemporary yet absolutely remorseless, Abysmal Dawn’s Phylogenesis is death metal for a new age.

“We took our time and went to few studios this time around, so it’s a bit of a laundry list,” Elliott says. “John Haddad engineered the drums at Trench Studios. John has been involved with all our records in some form since From Ashes. Mike Bear helped track and produce the vast majority of my vocals and rhythm guitars out of my studio. Mike produced both Leveling the Plane of Existence (2010) and Obsolescence. I tracked and produced all the leads, bass parts, and other odds and ends and mixed the album as well. Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios mastered the record in the end.”

As for Abysmal Dawn’s next steps, the quartet await the release of Phylogenesis. With past support coming from the Village Voice, Decibel, PopMatters, and Pandora, as well as the group's rabidly-devoted fanbase, the future of death metal is in good hands.

► 'Lesbian Show' (1997)
► 'Diva Futura' + 'Electronegative' EP (1999)

The reissues are now available for pre-orders HERE. The original albums are already available on all digital platforms. Check out the special 'This is Nightfall' playlist HERE.

Vocalist Efthimis comments on the re-issues: "The glorious decade of the 90s is never outdated. It is the mother of all good music and rebellious styles rooted deep in the heart of the death and black scene. Nightfall have been an active part of this movement, and we are more than excited to have the chance to see these releases coming out again. And some of them, never printed on vinyl before; 'Athenian Echoes,' 'Lesbian Show' and 'Diva Futura.' This is wonderful. As band we decided to keep the original artwork and the original sound to let old fans remember the greatness of those times and the younger ones to taste the real thing. There is nothing better than maintaining originality in a reissue. And these releases do exactly this to the favor of the listener who wants to travel back in times of wonder and pure creativity. It is a cult relic that well preserves the powerful mysticism of the enchanting atmosphere of the 90s’ magic era!"

In celebration, the band has also released a brand new performance video of the track "As Your God is Failing Once Again," which is taken from the album 'Macabre Sunsets.' The video was shot at the Sierra Studio's last summer.

NIGHTFALL will release their brand new album in March 2021. Stay tuned for more info and a new track!

It has been seven long years since the world was last blessed with new music from the melodic blackened death metal stalwarts of NIGHTFALL. While the band has been absent from the scene since the release of 2013’s Cassiopeia, their legacy has not been forgotten. Comprising the holy trinity of Greek metal – along with ROTTING CHRIST and SEPTICFLESH – NIGHTFALL was the first extreme act in the country to sign an international deal, introducing the world to the burgeoning Mediterranean scene in the early 90s. Now, the band is plotting a triumphant return.

During the first decade of NIGHTFALL’s lifespan, the band headlined stages across Europe. Thereafter, went on to dominate international festivals such as Brutal Assault, Sonisphere, and Wacken, the latter of which the band solidified their legacy as the first ever Greek band to earn an envied spot at the renowned festival. The band eventually made the decision to switch to a studio act before they went completely silent. When reflecting upon the sudden disappearance after a steady rise from the underground, vocalist and founding member Efthimis Karadimas explained that it was due to an all too familiar beast – depression. “It's because of depression that kicked in as early as mid-00s. I can write for hours and get into details about stuff gone wrong or mistreated situations, but the basis of all discouragement to move on has been depression and the effort required to get over it.” Despite the dark days, Karadimas did not abandon music entirely, moving on to form THE SLAYERKING, a gothic doom metal band that has released two agonizing full-length records between 2016-2019.

Alas, the abrupt departure of the band was not the final “goodbye” as NIGHTFALL has been reinvigorated with a new lineup and coveted deal with Season of Mist. Karadimas has reunited with original NIGHTFALL guitarist Mike Galiatsos, who helped define the band’s sound during the early years. With the addition of drummer and producer Fotis Benardo (ex-SEPTICFLESH) as well as guitarist Kostas Kyriakopoulos (THE SLAYERKING), the band is finally ready to release the tenth studio album. In addition to the long-awaited new music, Season of Mist will also be re-issuing the band’s original albums that were produced by Holy Records back in the 90s. This is not the only news the band has to share as NIGHTFALL has also vowed to finally perform again. “We are gonna play these live, including stuff never played live before,” says Karadimas.

Told through genuine memories and clearly narrated through the style of a vintage Super8 camera, the audiovisual symbolizes the most personal output to date. The outstanding band proves once again that the greatest inspiration and the best director is life itself.

"With the new video for 'We Were Young' I would like to say thank you to my parents. The video is a reflection of my happy childhood, thanks to them, which paved the way for me to become who I am today. The video shows real Super8 film footage from my birth in 1980 until 1994, when the magnetic tape slowly replaced the celluloid. In the credits of the video you can see the time before my birth, which my parents have captured on film for themselves since 1967. The director of this video was life itself and it shows here an origin story that could not have been more personal". - Chris Harms

The one-off version of "We Were Young", off their latest album, was created in cooperation with the senior choir Heaven Can Wait. The whole story, a lot of background details and many impressive shots can still be seen on the official ZDF Doku HERE and within the heart-wrenching live version HERE!

Napalm Records is delighted to welcome a promising and uprising symphonic metal star to its growing roster. Dive into impressive soundscapes and join the thrilling adventure: German firestarters ELVELLON have just inked a worldwide record deal with the premier rock and metal label.

Since ELVELLON came to life in 2010, the four-piece played its way straight into the heart of a steadily growing fan base with a captivating symbiosis of orchestral arrangements, heavy riffs and the striking voice of Nele Messerschmidt on vocal duties. After releasing their self-recorded 5-track EP, Spellbound (2015), and being dubbed as “heroes of tomorrow” by German Metal Hammer magazine, the band presented its critically acclaimed debut album,Until Dawn, three years later in 2018. Sharing the stage with scene leading VISIONS OF ATLANTIS and entering festival grounds like Rock Harz, Metal Hammer Paradise, M'era Luna, Rock Fest Barcelona, Metalfest Open Air and Rage Against Racism Festival, to name just a few, ELVELLON are now up to lift their inimitable output to the next level.

Enter a dreamlike world of cinematic magic, wandering between childish wonders and hard-hearted bitterness! More to be announced soon...

ELVELLON on the signing:

“Since we began our musical journey, it was our dream to sign with a legendary label such as Napalm Records. Now this dream became reality and we can barely put into words what we are feeling at this very moment. We feel honored to find ourselves among so many awesome bands. It's going to be a bright future."

For a vision of what lies ahead, check out the official music video for the bewitching track “Born From Hope”, which has already hit over 1.2 million views on YouTube, cut from the outstanding first full-length, Until Dawn.

HURTWAVE, FEATURING DAYSEEKER VOCALIST RORY RODRIGUEZ + DRUMMER MIKE KARLE, SHARE NEW SONG "MY FATHER SAID"

Image 11-23-20 at 6.07 PM.JPG

Dayseeker vocalist Rory Rodriguez and drummer Mike Karle announced their new project Hurtwave earlier this year. As Hurtwave, the pair traffic in synths and the output is decidedly different than that of their main band.

The band, signed to Spinefarm Records, just shared "My Father Said." Listen here.

"This song touches on what both my father and mother taught me in terms of relationships," Rodriguez explains. "My father, hurt from the divorce from my mother, really never dated or remarried, and taught me to keep a guard over my emotions. My mother, having left my father, taught me to leave a situation before it has the chance to hurt me. Ultimately, it's about a girl I met who made me want to do the opposite of what I learned from my parents. I wanted to stay and I wanted to let my walls down."

Previous Hurtwave sonic transmissions include "Sever," "Fever Dream," and "Bleach."

These tracks will appear on the band's debut EP, Night Therapy I. The EP is being released as seven separate installments through the coming months.

Hurtwave was born when Rodriguez and Karle were drafting demos in GarageBand. These tracks "flourished into some of our proudest work yet," Rodriguez explains. "Blending our real and emotional lyrics into a synthwave setting has created something really special for our listeners."

Scottish metalcore outfit FROM SORROW TO SERENITY have shared their new single, titled "Shadows", along with an accompanying music video.

"With the release of 'Shadows' we're branching out into new and unexplored territory for FSTS, as we look inward and reflect upon ourselves - no longer looking out into the world for inspiration," says guitarist Steven Jones.

Steven adds:

"Shadows is the most 'straight to the point' we've ever been, both musically and lyrically, as we explore our own battles with mental health. The original inspiration for the song was our bassist's struggle with PTSD, though during the writing process it became apparent that we all relate to the song in our own individual ways, and that the words contained cover a much broader spectrum. It's important to us that our music is an honest representation of who we are as people - and 'Shadows' marks the first step further into the minds of our members.

2020 has been a year to remember, or forget for some, where tackling mental health is at the forefront of society, and we take pride in sharing with complete transparency our own, very personal, take on the matter.

It's important to speak your mind about your thoughts and understand yourself as best you can. If you or anyone you know is suffering from depression and/or suicidal thoughts - please reach out to someone. There are links below to people who can help you:

Tune In HERE

Order Alive In Melbourne HERE

Ukraine's progressive groove metal frontrunners JINJER have finally released their very first official live album, Alive In Melbourne, today via Napalm Records. The album shows JINJER at what they do best: smashing crowds to bits like very few bands can. Recorded on March 5th 2020 on the Australian leg of their highly successful Macro World Tour, the show was one of the last performances for JINJER, as well as the rest if the world due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Alive In Melbourne features 17 of JINJER's heaviest hitting tracks including "I Speak Astronomy", "Noah", "Pit of Consciousness", "Words of Wisdom" and their breakthrough single "Pisces".

As an added bonus and a surprise to their fans, not only can you listen to Alive In Melbourne in its entirety on all streaming platforms but together with Napalm Records, JINJER will also premiere the complete Alive In Melbourne concert video on Youtube FOR FREE! Tune in to the Napalm Records Youtube Channel at 11:00 AM PST/2:00 PM EST TODAY and experience the energy that JINJER deliver live and up close in your own living room.

Alive In Melbourne is not only a live album but a very personal project of JINJER's enigmatic and outspoken bassist Eugene: “When this idea first came about, never could I imagine that it would grow into the project that it has become. First it was supposed to be a single video or maybe 1 or 2 more, then it was meant to be an online concert video for Knotfest.com …. and now, after 6 months of planning, reacting and fighting to get this little piece of heavy metal history out to our fans and friends: Alive In Melbourne is out! From picking the cover artist Gabriel Nicoletti, to writing the very intense and personal band history in the linear notes … this album was not only something that I felt that our fans deserved in these strange times but it also helped me get through some of my own darkest times during the first Covid-19 lockdown. This was a moment in time that none of us will forget anytime soon.”

As one of the hardest working and most innovative bands in the business, JINJER wouldn't be JINJER if they didn't play any of the many aces up their sleeves in a situation and climate as harsh as this. After the announcement of the live album, the band made the impossible a reality and, as the first non-European outfit, set foot on stage again in September, bringing back their intense live shows to their longing fans in Germany and Switzerland - under all necessary precautions.

MEXICAN APE-LORD RELEASE CONCEPTUAL SOPHOMORE EFFORT, ‘SURVIVAL CANNIBALISM’

"NO DELIVERANCE" from the album Survival Cannibalism Mexican Ape-Lord - Unable Records 2020 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mexicanapelord Twitter: https:...

Mexican Ape-Lord have just issued their second studio effort, ‘Survival Cannibalism.’ And this is no average/ordinary metal release, as it is also conceptual. “It’s based on a true story of shipwreck and cannibalism,” explains the band’s guitarist, Tony Nichols. “If you listen from beginning to end, you’ll experience a trip from utter darkness to the ultimate thrill of cheating death, but the songs are also designed to stand alone. We’re a rock band first and foremost, and we want every song to pack a lot of punches.”

Formed in 2012 by Nichols (previously of MELIAH RAGE) and singer/bassist Jon Hardy (formerly of THE BAGS), MEXICAN APE-LORD are purveyors of raw and epic mountain metal. Nichols recruited producer Peter Rutcho (Metal Blade, Century Media, etc.) who recommended a monster drummer named Steve Fry (CROTALUS, GRAVEHEART). Lead guitarist Dan Dykes (TRIPHAMMER), who had just produced MELIAH RAGE’s ‘Dead to the World’ record, completed the lineup.

The band’s debut album, The Late Heavy Bombardment, was released in 2014 on Unable Records and made a slew of top ten lists. Brave Words called it “a balls-out metal album” and True Metal Lives declared, “It proudly stands up and gives genre labeling the big middle finger.”

Which leads us to ‘Survival Cannibalism’ – whose storyline turns out to literally “hit home” with Nichols. “We grew up about 60 miles from where this happened, but only learned about it recently. Unlike the well-known Salem witch trials, the cannibalism on Boon Island [a barren rocky island in Maine in 1710] is a grisly but hidden part of our past. We think it deserves a floodlight. The extreme suffering and will to survive combined with raw conflict and rage make it a natural for a metal album.”

Concerning the album’s top tracks, drummer Steve Fry picked “‘So Much Wasted Rope’ was among my favorites because it just sounded like pure trouble. Especially that verse riff… it’s completely up to no good! So when I was coming up with the drum parts, it was all about accentuating that. I just wanted to lay into it with that simple kick/snare combo so it would be powerful while giving the riff the space to do its thing. It's one of those songs where it's actually more about what you DON’T do as a drummer than what you do that makes all the difference.”
“We call it ‘Mountain Metal’,” is how Nichols describes the band’s sound. “Each song is an expedition – raw and epic. The band functions like an expeditionary force. Every member is a specialist who can also provide backup. It’s an efficient and powerful way to make music. We’re looking to create songs that are big and dangerous, and everyone needs to stay focused in order to come out alive.”

Lastly, the group already has other projects on the horizon. “We have two projects in the pipeline; a three song EP that we plan to release in 2021, and a big badass album called ‘Blunt Instrument’ to follow.”

Steve Hackett launches video for ‘Andalusian Heart’; first track from new acoustic album

Taken from the album 'Under A Mediterranean Sky'. Order now here: https://stevehackett.lnk.to/UnderAMediterraneanSkyID Follow InsideOutMusic here: https://ww...

Iconic guitarist Steve Hackett, releases his new acoustic album Under A Mediterranean Sky on 22nd January 2021 as a Limited CD Digipak, Gatefold 2LP + CD + LP-booklet and Digital Album via InsideOut Music. Under A Mediterranean Sky is Steve Hackett’s first acoustic solo album since Tribute in 2008 and takes inspiration from Steve’s extensive travels around the Mediterranean with his wife Jo.

Steve comments: “The beauty of Andalusia with its Moorish and Gypsy magic and the strains of distant guitars echoing through its ornate archways has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. So many of the things that have inspired me about Spain are embodied in this romantic track, featuring Roger King’s orchestral arrangement, Franck Avril on oboe, Christine Townsend on violin and viola, and myself on classical guitar.”

The album is now available to pre-order as Limited CD Digipak, Gatefold 2LP + CD + LP-booklet and Digital Album here: https://stevehackett.lnk.to/UnderAMediterraneanSky

Working closely with long-time musical partner Roger King, Hackett has used his time during 2020’s lockdown to take us on an extraordinary musical journey around the Mediterranean, painting vivid images of stunning landscapes and celebrating the diverse cultures of the region. Famed for his rock roots with Genesis, and through his extensive solo catalogue, Hackett demonstrates the exquisite beauty of the nylon guitar at times venturing into the exotic ethnic and often supported by dazzling orchestral arrangements.

“A lot of acoustic ideas had been forming over the years, and it felt like the perfect time to create this album,” notes Hackett, “a time to contemplate the places we’ve visited around the Mediterranean with the kind of music which evolved from the world of imagination.

“Because we can’t really travel, substantially at the moment, I hope that the album will take people on that journey. Whether you sit down and listen to it or drift off to it with a glass of wine…”
Our journey around the Med begins on the island of Malta, in Mdina – The Walled City. It’s imposing strength is portrayed by Roger King’s dramatic orchestration while Hackett’s guitar weaves through the atmospheric streets describing the creativity, love and strength that held Malta together between all the waves of conflict.

With Hackett’s delicate guitar work, Adriatic Blue paints an enchanting view of stunning scenery as tall cliffs of forested mountains plunge into the deep blue sea along the Croatian coastline. Sirocco is altogether more atmospheric, inspired by the winds playing through the imposing structures of Egypt.

The lively Joie de Vivre expresses the unique sense of joy the French have through their wine, food and folk music, with paintings reflecting family gatherings, spectacular vistas and the vibrant colours of their cities. The art of dreaming is embodied in their sensual love of life.

“At first hand, I’ve marvelled at the mystical whirling Dervishes,” says Hackett. Along with otherworldly beings such as the Djin (Genie) they sprang from Persia’s dreaming past. The Dervish And The Djin captures the extraordinary atmosphere of this most exotic of civilisations with the help of Hackett’s touring band regular - Rob Townsend’s soprano sax, the tar of Malik Mansurov (from Azerbaijan) and Armenian Arsen Petrosyan’s duduk. “Of course, those countries are virtually at war with each other,” Hackett adds, “and there has been something like a thousand casualties (at the time of writing) on both sides. Again, it’s a case of music being able to do things that politicians fail to do - something constructive.”

The Memory of Myth embodies the deep and rich history of Greece and features the violin of Christine Townsend (no relation) while Lorato - ‘love’ in the language of the African Tswana tribe – is a pretty folk tune. Love is the force that heals and links all disparate peoples of the Mediterranean.

Hackett and his wife Jo were enchanted by the little Faun statue in the House of the Faun, Pompeii. “The villas there seemed to come back to life as we walked through those wonderful atriums and gardens,” inspiring Casa del Fauno and featuring the light and airy flute of Hackett’s brother John and Rob Townsend on flute.

The only non-original piece is Domenico Scarlatti’s Sonata. This embodies the Baroque music of Italy, a sensitive interpretation embellished with cross-string trills, a technique introduced to Hackett by the fine classical guitarist, the late Theo Cheng.

Hackett also expresses his admiration for the flamenco guitarists of Andalucía who are celebrated on Andalusian Heart. “One of the flamenco guitarists was showing me the extraordinary things they are able to do,” Hackett explains. “Seeing the gypsies playing and dancing in caves there, you get the feeling that these people are dancing for their lives.”

Our journey comes to an end with The Call Of The Sea, a gentle and peaceful reflection of the vast body of water that unites the many civilisations both ancient and modern.

Under A Mediterranean Sky features Steve Hackett playing nylon, steel string and twelve string guitars, charango and Iraqi oud. Keyboards, programming and orchestral arrangements are by Roger King. Featured musicians are John Hackett and Rob Townsend, flute (Casa del Fauno); Malik Mansurov, tar and Arsen Petrosyan, duduk & Rob Townsend, Sax (The Dervish And The Djin); Christine Townsend, violin (The Memory of Myth and The Call Of The Sea). All tracks were produced by Steve Hackett and Roger King with all tracks recorded and mixed by Roger King at Siren.

“I had a great time doing this album, seeing it take shape, and I’m very pleased with the outcome. I’m very proud of it,” says Hackett. “The nylon guitar has a very individual sound but, within the compass of what the nylon-strung guitar can do, there are a lot of different tones. You can do the full-on attack, the kind of salvo that you expect from the flamenco players but, at the same time, it can also be very gentle, gentle as a harp. It’s shades of black and white. It’s also exciting to play alongside instruments from around the world, as well as a wide range of orchestral sounds.”

About Steve Hackett

Steve Hackett joined Genesis at the beginning of 1971 and gained an international reputation as the guitarist in the band’s classic line-up alongside Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. Steve’s intricate guitar work was a key element of Genesis’ albums from Nursery Cryme (1971) to Wind And Wuthering (1977) including the classic Selling England By The Pound.

After leaving Genesis at the end of 1977, Steve’s solo career, which now spans more than 30 albums, has demonstrated his extraordinary versatility with both electric and acoustic guitar. Steve is renowned as both an immensely talented and innovative rock musician and a virtuoso classical guitarist and composer and this was recognised in 2010 when he was inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame. He has also worked alongside Steve Howe of YES in the supergroup GTR.

Steve’s compositions take influences from many genres, including jazz, classical and blues. For his later studio works The Night Siren (2017) and At The Edge Of Light (2019) Steve has explored the influences of world music. Recent tours have seen Steve celebrate his time with Genesis including a spectacular 2018 tour in which Steve realised a long-held ambition to perform the works of Genesis live with his band and an orchestra. He recently released Selling England by the Pound & Spectral Mornings: Live at Hammersmith, a live recording of his hugely successful 2019 tour that saw him celebrating that Genesis classic, as well as the 40th anniversary of one of his most-loved solo albums.
