Ovtlier is a band that the Zoid Entertainment team believes in:

“When their manager (Dennis Sanders) played Who We are, we felt this was a project on which we wanted to work,” said Zoid President Peter Tsiolis. “As we continued to discuss what role we could play in the band’s future,” he continued, “we decided we wanted Ovtlier to be part of what is an extremely limited roster of bands that we want to have on the label side of Zoid Entertainment Group.”

“We believe Who We Are is a beginning full of promise,” Tsiolis said. “The hook is infectious, and the lyrics will speak to today’s youth in a way that has been missing in recent years."

“With the release of the track on October 23rd, we start the journey together with Ovtlier and INgrooves.”

The band premiered their official music video for single "Who We Are" on Alternative Press on July 17, 2020.

"Who We Are" is about accepting the individuality of ourselves and others. Understanding that trauma, especially stemming back to childhood plays a vital role in the years to come of ones life. We all have things that shape and make us into who and what we are."" says Arena.

Ovtlier has grown into a roaring rock band of stadium ambitions. Led by the enigmatic frontman Joey ArenaOvlier has already captured the hearts of more than 60K daily followers online, more than 2.1 million views of fan-curated content on YouTube, over half a million streams Spotify, appearing in Revolver MagazineAlternative PressLoudwireABC News and has been selling out shows around the Northeast. Their latest release, What Doesn’t Kill You takes the listener on a roller-coaster jaunt. Drawing influences from Breaking Benjamin, 30 Seconds To Mars, Korn, Periphery and others, Ovtlier brings the rock and metal edge to a new height of intensity.

Inspired by everything 80’s to 90s grunge and NuMetal, Arena began playing guitar at the age of 11 on an old 3-string guitar. After achieving commercial success with his band, Young Bloods, Arena re-centered himself and began traveling 8 hours from Rochester to Cleveland in search of an identity and definition for what would become Ovtlier’s debut EP, What Doesn’t Kill You. Playing sold-out hometown shows, touring the states and rapidly growing their fan-base among all types of music fans. Housing a hybrid sound that cross-pollinates into other sub-genres, giving a formula to freedom in songwriting and forever being able to validate surprise in their releases to come. Ovtlier is set out to deliver their most personal and intense work yet.

The band's first single "Buried Me Alive" is in regular rotation at Octane/ Accelerator!

The Wolves of VARG Release Third Single, “Fara Til Ránar”, and Official Video

Pre-order "Zeichen" now: https://smarturl.it/Zeichen-NPR Out September 18th Official VARG Merchandise Shop: https://varg-shop.de/ Lyrics: Hörst du mich rufen...

New Album, Zeichen, out September 18, 2020 | Pre-Order NOW!

Melancholic and captivating - An authentic highlight on Varg's musical route to the origins of Pagan Metal!

Today, the wolves of VARG are once again howling the origins of true Pagan Metal, continuing their story of the legendary Viking era. The band has unveiled the third single, "Fara Til Ránar", from their upcoming full-length, Zeichen (engl. signs), to be released on September 18 via Napalm Records.

"Fara Til Ránar” starts off with a captivating chorus, offering a new facet of VARG: The additional vigorous female vocals by Fylgja mirror a perfectly-fitting contrast to Freki’s shattering screams. The third single is a mournful metal ballad featuring the melancholic, captivating saga of the Nordic goddess of the sea, Rán, who uses her net to pull wandering sailors down into her watery grave. The wolves' third audio-visual creates a mystical surrounding in the trademark VARG style, but also includes some additional atmospheric elements.

Singer Freki about the single:

"To us, "Fára Til Ránar" is one of the songs that represent the "new" VARG the best way. All eyes here are definitely on Fylgja, our official new band member. She has already appeared on Wolfszeit II, took part as a singer on our last tour and made a huge impact on our development and direction. It felt absolutely right and just like a natural process to officially welcome her into the band. In "Fara Til Ránar" her singing embodies the tempting calls of the sea goddess Rán. With every note, you can feel our heart and soul as well as common dedication for our music. We’ve finally arrived, and "Fara Til Ránar" and Zeichen as a whole are the best proof for that.”

The wolves of VARG set an uncompromising sign and

deliver their most furious work to date!

On their authentic masterpiece Zeichen, the wolves of VARG return to their roots and embark on a journey further down a new road. Within the first seconds of the album opener breaking loose, VARG draws the listener into the year “793” that heralded the ferocious era of the Vikings. "Verräter", on the other hand, emphasizes the suffering and vengeance towards former allies with rapid guitar leads, and ultimately, the album culminates in the mighty title hymn “Zeichen”

In addition to the ten new tracks, the mediabook contains a bonus CD featuring alternate versions of each song the band recorded with renowned guest musicians such as Chrigel Glanzmann (ELUVEITIE), Robert „Robse“ Dahn (EQUILIBRIUM) and Askeroth (NACHTBLUT). Looking at the final opus, it's not surprising that VARG took four years after the publication of Das Ende Aller Lügen (which hit number 17 on the German charts) to regather their forces, and today, Zeichen shows that Freki, Fenrier, Morkai and Garm consciously took their time to realign their inner compass and are not afraid of musical and intellectual freedom.

VARG are:

Freki - vocals, guitar

Fenrier - drums

Garm - rhythm guitar

Morkai - lead guitar

Fylgja – female vocals

AUÐN Shares Official Music Video for New Song, "Ljóstýra"

With their new album 'Vökudraumsins fangi', AUÐN explore new soundscapes and push their music to new heights, thereby setting themselves further apart from t...

Icelandic black metal formation AUÐN has shared the official music video for their brand new single, "Ljóstýra!" The song is taken from the band's upcoming full-length, 'Vökudraumsins fangi,' which is due on October 30. The video, which was created by Aimed and Framed.

AUÐN comments on the track: "'Ljóstýra,' meaning 'Faint light,' is a metaphor for loneliness and the never ending jaded grind our world is spiraling towards, we hope for brighter days that never seem to materialize. Set in a frozen waste (Auðn) a shimmer of light flickers in the distance in an old house. This faint light represents the hope of change, that the seasons will return and this perpetual darkness and cold will cease. As the years go by you grow bitter and cold like the world you are forced to inhabit, the feeling that the world will get brighter ever fading into memory. When darkness falls and all hope seems gone the faint candle light brings solace and for a brief moment the world feels bright again. This is 'Ljóstýra.'"

Pre-orders are now live in the Season of Mist shop HERE.

As the country's vibrant black metal scene has proven, Iceland can be a beautiful and sinister place where furious elements rage teaching fear but also inspiring human creativity. Emphasizing melodies rather than dissonance and approaching their music from a dramatic, classical black metal angle, AUÐNdeliver another mesmerizing piece of art with ‘Vökudraumsins fangi’.

Hailing from the village of Hveragerði in the south of Iceland, AUÐN deliver haunting melodies and beautifully frozen atmospheres – as opposed to the jarring and caustic blunt force trauma that has brought this remote place in the Northern Atlantic to the black metal forefront.

Founded in 2010, AUÐN's talent was quick to be recognized. After the release of the self-titled debut, the band got invited to Iceland’s main metal event, the Eistnaflug Festival. They participated and won the local Wacken Metal Battle contest in 2016, while making it to the top three during the infamous Wacken Open Air festival itself. Shows at the prestigious Inferno and Roadburn festivals followed in 2017.

The second full-length, 'Farvegir Fyrndar' was released in November 2017, continuing the band’s fast ascent. Highly praised by the international metal press, the sophomore record reached back to a more classic second-generation black metal approach combined with a sense of elegance and melancholy that one can feel while dwelling among the bleak, extraordinary landscapes of the island.

The Icelanders embarked on European tours with label mates GAAHL’S WYRD in 2017 and THE GREAT OLD ONES (2017 and 2018) and captivated festival audiences at the biggest European fests, such as Copenhell, Summer Breeze Open Air, Eurosonic Noorderslag, Roskilde, Eindhoven Metal Meeting and more.

Returning with ‘Vökudraumsins fangi’, AUÐN explore new soundscapes and push their music to new heights, thereby setting themselves further apart from their Icelandic contemporaries. The six piece draws inspirations from their natural surroundings, but also chart the territory of the mind. The album title literally translates to ‘prisoner of the daydream’, but rather refers to a perpetual state of delusion of a life that never took place.

Join AUÐN while traversing the blurred lines between reality and the supernatural and the otherworldly sceneries of their native Iceland.

In regard to the upcoming season’s lineup, Daryl Hall said, “There are so many great moments. The O’Jays one gets to the core of what I’m really all about.”

“I’m excited that AXS TV is debuting the Tommy Shaw and Ty Taylor episodes, as the fans have been asking for new episodes. Our partnership with the team at AXS TV keeps getting stronger, so I’m proud that we’re able to deliver new content, especially during these challenging times,” said Executive Producer Jonathan Wolfson.

“Live From Daryl’s House really resonated with our viewers when it debuted on our Network last April,” said Lucia McCalmont, Vice President of Programming and Scheduling, AXS TV. “We strive to give our audience the best seat in the house to unforgettable performances and unprecedented access to their favorite entertainers, and this series is a perfect reflection of that. "A VIEW FROM THE INSIDE" DUE NOVEMBER 6, 2020

FIRST SINGLE, 'INFINITO 1122' OUT NOW

Reb Beach has announced that his long in the works instrumental solo album will now see the light of day. “A View From The Inside” is slated for a November 6th release via Frontiers Music Srl. A new single and video, 'Infinito 1122' is out today.

Pre-order/save "A View From The InsideHEREhttps://orcd.co/rebbeach

An album that showcases the dynamic talents of the guitar virtuoso, hard rock fans will be transported back to the days when giants like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani dominated the mainstream consciousness (and airwaves), while also simultaneously being shown a guitarist ever pushing himself forward into the future.

Reb Beach is one of the indisputable guitar giants of the current hard rock scene. His resume with ‘80s/’90s mega-stars Winger alone would earn him this distinction, but his legacy is cemented by his current membership and work with the legendary Whitesnake, his past efforts with Dokken, and his recent release with supergroup Black Swan, also featuring Jeff Pilson, Robin MacAuley, and Matt Starr.

Influenced by the legendary hard rockers of the ‘70s, Reb spent his teen years jamming along with the greats of that era like Aerosmith and Montrose, but it was when he discovered more progressive players like Steve Morse, Allan Holdsworth, and Larry Carlton that his musical world really opened up. The complexity and the speed of the more prog style of playing was a unique challenge compared to the blues-based playing of most musicians of that era. The discovery of these players was ultimately the catalyst that drove his playing to the level he is now so well known to music fans the world over for. Beach eventually graduated from his home practice space to the Berkeley School of Music, but after a couple of semesters he moved on and soon became one of the most sought-after session players in the music industry, working with such all-time great talents as Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Roger Daltrey, Chaka Kahn, Howard Jones, and Twisted Sister.

While living in NYC, he hooked up with his future bandmate, bassist and frontman Kip Winger. Reb and Kip formed the band Winger and the rest is history. The two proved to be incredible writing partners, crafting multiple platinum records that featured no less than six Top Forty singles. with music that was commercial yet complex.

After Winger went on a hiatus in the ‘90s, Beach’s career continued thanks to collaborations with Alice Cooper, Dokken and Night Ranger and he debuted as a solo artist in 2002 with the album “Masquerade".

Following the Winger reunion in the ‘00s, Reb heard that David Coverdale was looking for a new guitarist for Whitesnake. He reached out to him and since 2003, Reb has toured the world with the band as well as released multiple albums with them, including “Good to Be Bad,” “Forevermore,” “The Purple Album,” and the recent “Flesh & Blood,” plus a number of live albums.

Reb Beach will now release his first instrumental album, but this is not a mere exercise of self-indulgence. It is the culmination of over 30 years of study and extremely hard work on his craft. Fans of Steve Morse and Joe Satriani will find a lot to love in the 11 songs on offer here, but while there is certainly a lot of ear candy for the musician types, fans of hard rock in general will find a wealth of melodies and transcendent moments where the songs simply make you forget there are no vocals.

Line-up:

Reb Beach - guitars, bass on 4, 9, keyboards on 4, 6, 11, strings on 10

David Throckmorton - drums (except on 6)

Robert Langley - drums on 6

Michele Luppi - piano on 3, 10

Phillip Bynoe - bass on 1, 2, 3, 8, 10, 11

John Hall - bass on 5, 6, 7

Paul Brown - keyboards on 1, 2, 5, 7

GARGOYL Premieres New Song and Music Video

Subscribe to Season Of Mist for new releases : https://som.lnk.to/YouTube 'Gargoyl' is out on October 9, 2020. Order here: https://redirect.season-of-mist.co...

Progressive grunge rockers GARGOYL, which features guitar virtuoso Dave Davidson (REVOCATION) and guitarist/vocalist Luke Roberts (AYAHUASCA), have teamed up with Metal Injection to premiere the official music video for their brand new song, "Plastic Nothing." The song is the third single from the band's upcoming debut full-length, which is due on October 9! The video was created by Costin Chioreanu

Guitarist/vocalist Luke Roberts comments:

"Why am I so afraid that my body, my possessions, and even my mind are in a state of constant dissolution? Why am I so afraid of the idea that every atom in my body came from dirt and will soon return?
Maybe the tighter I hang on to being a person, being permanent, secure, the more I suffer.
Maybe the tighter i hang onto the idea of a perfect world the faster it burns.
Fear is like a bully that offers you protection in exchange for obedience.
Perhaps if I hang on less tightly, the sum of my short fleeting life could mean something more than just living in a constant state of fear right up until my inevitable death bed."

GARGOYL's self-titled album is available for pre-orders HERE.

Gargoyl is many things at once, which, automatically subjects the band to the journalistic and fan guessing game/rite of passage as to what style they actually are. Their 11-song self-titled debut is progressive, atmospheric, heavy, technical and avant-garde; a blend of sounds that ultimately coalesce into a body of work that engages and challenges. That, in itself, covers a broad spectrum, but further inroads into Gargoyl’s sound continually reveal new elements of intrigue and persuasion. It is the beauty — and purpose — of the project.

Formed in early 2018 by guitarist Dave Davidson (Revocation) and guitarist/vocalist Luke Roberts (Ayahuasca), the groundwork for Gargoyl was laid when the two men met while on tour. The pair realized they shared a musical kinship and admiration for one another and made good on their word to see the project through. Gargoyl’s two-song Asomatous demo was released in March 2019, setting the stage for their eventual signing to Season of Mist and release of their debut LP this October. The album’s drums were recorded in July 2019 with Chris Johnson at GodCity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts; guitars were tracked with Greg Dawson at BWC Studios outside of Toronto. Vocals were recorded by Roberts at his home studio.

Gargoyl is completed by the virtuosic talents of bassist Brett Leier and drummer James Knoerl who collectively add further layers of intrigue and soul to the music. The collaboration between members opened up the creative floodgates and further expanded their sound. “The riffs were flowing out so fast,” remarks Davidson about the early stages of the writing process. “It was clear that these ideas were in the back of our minds waiting to come out.”

The music for their self-titled album was split evenly between Davidson and Roberts, with Roberts also penning the album’s lyrics and vocal melodies. “Working with someone in more of a 50/50 kind of collaborative style was new for me,” elaborates Davidson. “It’s nice having someone to split those writing duties with, someone who is just as invested in every little single intricacy and detail. It allowed me to function in a different sort of role, which was refreshing. I think that also led to more creativity because I’m writing in a different style, writing with all new members and taking on a different writing role in a band.”

The haunting and melancholic tonality of Roberts’ vocals is undoubtedly one of the primary facets of Gargoyl’s sound. Roberts’s layering, harmonies and inflection, at times, recall classic vocalists from the ’90s grunge era, but what really sold Davidson was his versatility and ability to contour his clean, distinctive vocals over unorthodox compositions.

As a result, Gargoyl’s debut successfully oscillates between unnerving, emotional segments, to progressive, Goth-tinged hard rock. Davidson and Roberts have crafted Gargoyl in such a manner that it refuses to be boxed-in. Davidson has already fielded quite a few assertions on Gargoyl’s sound — some have tagged it as grunge meets black metal, Queens of The Stone Age meets Voivod or even a jazzier version of Alice In Chains.

“Anytime a band has a lot of different influences…I think it’s important to have a clear vision and goal so that all those influences mesh together in a way that doesn’t sound forced,” says Davidson. “I wanted it to be a cohesive, artistic statement and I know that Luke does as well. I’ve always wanted to blend genres. In the truest sense of the word we’re ‘prog rock.’”

CREMATORY Releases New Video, “Like The Tides”

Latest Album, Unbroken, Out Now via Napalm Records

Order The Album NOW!

"'Cause love is changing like the seasons, changing like the tides It's somehow like the days turn into nights“

German pioneers of European gothic metal CREMATORY have released a heart-wrenching version of the 90s ballad “Like The Tides” along with an atmospherically arranged music video.

With the cover version of this !distain classic, CREMATORY showcases another aspect of their musical expertise. The accompanying audio-visual features original !distain shots leading up to a vigorous symbiosis of expressive CREMATORY ambience and Connie Andreszka’s vocals.

CREMATORY is well known for their harsh wave of industrial metal and gothic dimness – but this cover version proves that they are maintaining versatility in the latest stage of their long career.

The black and white music video presents both their passion for music and the melodic side of CREMATORY’s musical identity. Their latest release, Unbroken, connects all shades - on the one hand underlining the significance of strength and determination, while on the other, remaining faithful to the darker and existential roots of the scene the band was born in in the 90s. CREMATORY pursue their conquest towards the dark Parnassus of gothic metal finesse, their spirit unbroken ready to face the challenges of life.

CREMATORY about “Like The Tides”:

“This song has been a part of my life since the nineties and symbolizes an emotionally charged ballad, which is perfectly fitting for CREMATORY. I would say it’s like the 2.0 version of our ballad “Perils of the wind”!”

About Crematory:

One of the pioneering acts of the potent European goth metal scene in the 1990s, CREMATORY began as a strict death metal unit in 1991 before adding goth and industrial elements into their arsenal. During their 28-year-long career, the band around Markus Jüllich has released 14 studio albums, three live albums, various compilations and splits, has played hundreds of shows around the globe - and they are still hungry for more.

CREMATORY are:

Felix Stass - Lead Vocals

Markus Jüllich - Drums

Katrin Jüllich - Keyboards

Rolf Munkes - Lead Guitar

Connie Andreszka - Guitars, Vocals

Jason Matthias - Bass

Great events are once again foreshadowed: nearly 18 months after the release of their debut album, Mama Said Rock Is Dead, which saw John Diva & The Rockets Of Love go straight to the top 25 of the German album charts in spring 2019, the band are returning with their latest single: ‘Bling Bling Marilyn’ will arrive at the physical and digital stores on 11 September 2020 on Steamhammer/SPV, heralding the upcoming album American Amadeus, scheduled for a January 2021 release. ‘Bling Bling Marilyn’ was written by frontman John Diva and Hannes Braun (Kissin` Dynamite), who also features as guest vocalist. “We’re super happy about the collaboration,” the band members enthuse, “especially since the fans are bound to recognise his voice.” Naturally, ‘Bling Bling Marilyn’ will also be supported by a spectacular video clip which features the five musicians John Diva (vocals), Snake Rocket and J.J. Love (both on guitar), Remmie Martin (bass) and Lee Stingray Jr. (drums) the way they are: sexy, laid-back, wearing cool outfits, long hair, and striking self-confident poses.

At the same time, ‘Bling Bling Marilyn’ opens a new chapter of the band’s history and presents John Diva & The Rockets Of Love even more diverse and consistent stylistically than ever before. “Our extensive Mama Said Rock Is Dead tour had a positive impact on us in lots of ways,” explains Snake Rocket„Thanks to the unanimously positive responses to our first album and the amazing audience reactions at our shows, we felt confident enough to explore a number of different extremes even further on American Amadeus: our rock songs are tougher and faster still, the pop-oriented numbers even more catchy. In addition, American Amadeus includes a number of tracks with a spirit that goes back to the seventies and bands such as early Kiss and Black Sabbath.”

The new album "American Amadeus" will be released on January 15th, 2021 through SPV/Steamhammer as CD digipak, 2LP gatefold edition (with 3 bonus tracks), download and stream: https://JohnDiva.lnk.to/AmericanAmadeus

2 bands, 10 musicians, 1 song - "Schwarz Tot Gold"!

Dark metal unites with punk rap in a way never seen before! LORD OF THE LOST and SWISS & DIE ANDERN open up a musical crossover universe that’s been left uncharted - until now.

Supposedly coming from different musical worlds, the Hamburg scene greats have joined forces to make a clear statement on the ravages of time with intelligent and socially critical texts! The contrast between punk rap and dark metal embodies the dichotomy of current socio-political issues and addresses them with a good dose of irony.

“Schwarz Tot Gold” (engl.: Black Dead Gold), referring to the colours of the German national flag (Schwarz, Rot, Gold = Black, Red, Gold), criticizes capitalist establishment and suppression of the vulnerable.

SWISS on the collaboration:

“’Schwarz Tot Gold' delivers a crossover mix from the core-oriented sound of both bands that has never been heard before in Germany. Two styles and bands meet each other, which are already pioneers of their own scenes themselves, but at first glance do not fit together. The result of this experiment is unique and groundbreaking for us so far.”

LORD OF THE LOST frontman Chris Harms on the background of the new single:

“This song was created detached from any album plans, neither from us nor from SWISS. This song was born out of the necessity to open your mouth. In Germany where splinter groups are spreading insanity and are actually talking about ‘Corona dictatorship’ and lack of freedom in the course of pandemic measures, we would like to draw attention to the REAL problems that have grown up over the years and that move this country - or slow it down. Especially as a band whose albums otherwise offer little fertile ground for social criticism in terms of content, it was a real relief, and an overdue time, to address these issues.”

The single will be available as 7'' vinyl and is digitally available everywhere now.

CRYPTODIRA RELEASES SURPRISE EP, BETTER LEFT UNSAID

"Better Left Unsaid" from the new EP "Better Left Unsaid" out NOW on Good Fight Music. Stream, Download, or buy exclusive merch here: https://orcd.co/betterl...

ALL-NEW LP, THE ANGEL OF HISTORY, DUE
OUT LATER THIS YEAR

September 11, 2020 -- Cryptodira have released a surprise EP today titled Better Left Unsaid with a visualizer for the title track. These songs are the first music the band is releasing since The Devil's Despair (2017), which received critical acclaim. Heavy Blog is Heavy stated that the LP is the band's "contribution to the ongoing answer for the progressive metal conundrum. It shows that there's still reason and life in the genre, that in its sometimes over the top and too self-serious highs and lows, there are still interesting ideas and powerful emotions to be manifested."

The band will also release an all-new LP titled The Angel of History later this year. The Angel of History and Better Left Unsaid were both recorded in January 2020 at The Basement Studios in Winston-Salem, NC, and produced by Jamie King and Cryptodira.

Vocalist/guitarist Scott Acquavella and drummer Matthew Taibi comment:

"There's been no shortage of inspiration throughout our recent writing process, and upon stepping back and looking at the body of work we had amassed, there was a sense that these two songs fit together in an extraordinary way that makes them stand out on their own. We've always been a band that writes with a much larger picture in mind, but there was something uniquely rewarding about telling a sonically short story. So the Better Left Unsaid EP is our way of exploring that territory." - Scott Acquavella

"As it was written in the Grundrisse, "language is the presence of community," and a genuinely livable community begins where individualism ends. Language is not only a bridge between members of a community; language embeds communal being into the most private corners of mental life. An individual (or ego) can only know their hopes and desires by using language, i.e., something their community gifted them. Living in a community and using language properly both mean knowing where and when to decenter yourself. Sustainable happiness will be found sooner on the margins." - Matthew Taibi

SAUL PREMIERE "KING OF MISERY" VIDEO

From the new album "Rise As Equals" available October 23rd Get it here: https://Saul.lnk.to/RiseAsEquals Directed by Scott Hansen at Digital Thunderdome Lyri...

NEW ALBUM RISE AS EQUALS ARRIVES ON OCTOBER 23 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS

Iowa-based rock quartet SAUL — brothers Blake Bedsaul [lead vocals] and Zach Bedsaul [lead guitar, backup vocals], William McIlravy [bass, backup vocals], and Myles Clayborne [drums] — have premiered the futuristic and cinematic video for their new single "King of Misery

The song, co-written by Disturbed's David Draiman, is the lead single from the band's debut album Rise As Equals. The record arrives October 23 via Spinefarm Records

"A day on repeat, spiraling out of control, and no option but to embrace it," says Blake. "The shoot for 'King of Misery' was a spectacular sight for these weary, quarantined eyes. Scott Hansen of Digital Thunderdome had a vision that was spot on with the vibe of the song. The location, crew, and actress Catherine Lucchesi were a delight to work with. They really brought the visuals of the song to life."

Zach weighs in, saying, "Imagine the worst day of your life, and then put it on repeat. Director Scott Hansen took the lyrical content of 'King of Misery' to a whole new level. The video opens with an epic space-themed, sci-fi intro that's literally a mini-feature while seamlessly transitioning into an impressive aerial shot of us performing on a plateau in the middle of the Badlands National Park. The beautiful, chaotic landscape leads you to believe that you are actually on another planet."

THE UNGUIDED Reveals Video for New Track “Never Yield”

Pre-Order "Father Shadow" here: https://smarturl.it/FatherShadow :: Never Yield :: Conquest, war, famine, and death These are the forces that still draw brea...

New Album Out October 9!

Pre-Order New Album, Father ShadowNOW

“Never yield to the obvious and overwhelming - Might of the enemy that you’re facing”

Swedish melodic death metal crusher THE UNGUIDED awaits with the successor of their latest offering and presents their second single, “Never Yield”, off their upcoming full-length, Father Shadow, to be released on October 9 via Napalm Records.

Along with a fantasy-inspired and rousing official lyric video, the four-piece presents a fast-paced banger that will pierce straight into your eardrums. A clean chorus exploding in deep, menacing shouts characterizes the new hard-hitting offering.

With their new full-length, these Nordic heavyweights prove that they can’t be pigeonholed. Eleven quick-tempered, high-voltage pieces indicate that THE UNGUIDED have liberated themselves from the shadows of the past but are still aware of their manifold roots. The intoxicating mixture of clean hooklines and powerful screams lead up to a unique symbiosis of pure harshness.

With Father ShadowTHE UNGUIDED  comprised of the brothers and founders of SONIC SYNDICATE – break down the barriers between melodic death metal, metalcore and fitting electronic sounds. With brutal shouts, an unmistakably catchy chorus and a huge chunk of honest words, “Crown Prince Syndrome'' unveils the burden of an innate identity. The perfect symbiosis of Richard Sjunnesson’s forceful vocal pitch and Jonathan Thorpenberg’s clean vocals convinces to the fullest extent. Tracks like the banger “Never Yield” and “War of Oceans” pierce straight into your eardrums. Let yourself be drawn into the deep, dark underbelly of “Stand Alone Complex”, capturing your mind with ruthlessly harsh drums. “Gaia”, featuring Erik Engstrand, marks a new chapter in the era of THE UNGUIDED: harder, faster but always on point. With heavy handed cover versions of their own classic SONIC SYNDICATE tracks “Jailbreak”“Denied” and “Jack of Diamonds”, the four piece also thrives in reminiscence – and reveals a new musical entity. Follow THE UNGUIDED into the deep shadows of the past and the abyss of the future!

THE UNGUIDED on the new album:

“We started to work on the follow up to And the Battle Royale by the end of 2018 after the tour was done. I think that particular album was a lot about figuring out the band’s new identity and writing together after boarding a new member and undeniably it was well received. Father Shadow is all about taking that experience, refining the process and push it to the next level. We have grown together solidly as a band and I think it shows a lot on this album. The songwriters in the band all comes from different schools and write a bit differently musically, on this album everyone got equal airtime just to pump the diversity without losing the feel of the band. Lyrically it pushes the story and concept forward and finally ties up some ends that have been loose since Fragile Immortality (2014), something I think the hardcore fans will appreciate. It was also fun to go back and revisit those old SONIC SYNDICATE tracks for the bonus material and I think we managed to do our own thing to honor the songs with a mint 2020 production. Utterly we created the songs and album we’d love to listen to ourselves and we succeeded with that and hope you’ll like it as much as we do!”

BARISHI Unleashes Official Music Video for "The Longhunter"

Subscribe to Season Of Mist for new releases : https://som.lnk.to/YouTube 'Old Smoke' was released on April 24, 2020. Order here: https://smarturl.it/Barishi...

Progressive sludge metal outfit BARISHI has unleashed the official music video for the song "The Longhunter," which is taken from the band's 2020 release, 'Old Smoke.' The video, which was created by Chariot of the Black Moth.

"'The Longhunter' was one of the last songs we threw together for the record," explains BARISHI. "It has a really frantic feel that makes it a bit of an outlier on the album. Lyrically, it’s about being lost and dying in the wilderness, we thought that the subject matter could lend itself to a video. We are big fans of Chariot of the Black Moth and figured that his visual aesthetic would work really well with this song. Thanks for watching.”

'Old Smoke' is out now and can be ordered in various formats HERE.

Earlier this year, BARISHI live streamed a pummeling performance from the Stone Church in their hometown of Brattleboro, VT. The stream is now available to watch at THIS LOCATION.

Chronologically speaking, while Graham Brooks falls into the generational social construct known as “the millennial,” in actuality the Barishi guitarist/vocalist is an old soul, wise and talented beyond his years. Sure, he’s got an all-in-one cellular device in his pocket like just about everyone else on the planet, but you’ll rarely find him obsessively staring into it unless necessary. He was scouring used book and record stores for classics long before it was deemed cool by the hipsters of his cohort and when it comes time to actually listening to his vinyl finds – instead of mounting them for show or posting “Look at what I bought” online missives – he prefers lengthy, involved and protracted pieces of music in direct opposition to the quick fixes required to sate the miniscule attention spans of kids these days.

Furthermore, when Brooks’ name comes up in conversation, a soon-to-be classic yarn quickly follows: last year, he was asked to provide a guest spot solo record on Cable’s Take the Stairs to Hell album. Instead of utilizing modern and available technology and facelessly recording and emailing in his contribution, the worryingly tall gentle giant drove five hours non-stop from his home in central Vermont to a Boston recording studio, laid down his solo in a matter of minutes then almost immediately got back in his car and drove the five hours home. Without a hint of self-consciousness or ironic arrogance, he’ll divulge, “I definitely have an interest in old stuff. I guess people would call me an atavist. I like to read about archeology and history and old empires and stuff like that. I remember hearing someone talk about the fleeting nature of smoke and its age throughout time and that seemed interesting to me.”

This is the launch pad for Barishi’s newest album, Old Smoke. The Green Mountain State metallic shape-shifters’ third album roils along with feet in both the distant past and foreseeable future. The record is a fulcrum for the conglomeration and combination of metal from black, progressive, doom and sludge subgenres aligned with a variety of rock musics, including classic, roots, Americana and indie. For Barishi, there are no sonic barriers, no musical borders, everything is welcome and the result of throwing all available ingredients into a melting pot to create a powerful sum of parts. It’s a notion that grizzled urbanites and dichotomous us-against-them thinkers might view as achingly naive or treacherously liberal, but in the alchemical context of novel robustness emerging from the distillation of the best of disparate parts, Old Smoke exists as a beacon of light and strength. This is something Brooks attributes not only to the experience the band has gained since forming in 2010, but also the isolation of growing up as hopeful metalheads in rural Vermont.

As a pre-teen, Brooks’ family moved him to the tiny village of West Dover in order to live and eventually work on the family farm, where he lives and works to this day. While precociously and proudly sporting an Iron Maiden shirt at the grocery store one day, he was spotted by, and became friends with, Dylan Blake and the two joined forces when they ended up at the same high school in town.

“Dylan was known around as a drum wizard, I played guitar and [bassist] John [Kelley] got into metal a little later, but we were always friends so we just started rocking out together and have just stuck with it.

“Early on, we didn’t know anybody or how to get shows until this guy in Burlington started running this thing called Metal Mondays at a club called Nectars, which is the place Phish got their start at,” he says about the band’s primordial age. “That was where we were able to become a little more professional, figure out what we were doing and what we wanted to do. But Vermont’s cool because it’s so isolated and because there’s not a lot to do people come out to metal shows. Some old hippie will come out and have a great time just because that’s what’s happening in town. It’s small enough that there are no scene politics with this genre of kids versus that genre of kids; if there’s a show, people go to it. I think that attitude has allowed us to do our own thing while playing to everybody. Once in a while I’ll talk to somebody from a big city and they’ll mention the woes of trying to play to fans of a certain subgenre and how it never goes over. We don’t really have that in Vermont.”

Originally an instrumental band called Atlatl, the band joined forces with vocalist Sascha Simms and switched to the Barishi moniker in 2012. The then-quartet recorded and self-released a self-titled album in 2013 which caught the eye and ear of the likes of DecibelMetal HammerNew Noise, and, most importantly, Season of Mist. Being offered a recording contract slathered the Barishi camp in surprise (“We had done a fair bit of DIY touring, but it wasn’t like we were the big local band or had any buzz at all”) and sparked a growing ambition which begat the band’s 2016 album, Blood from the Lion’s Mouth. Shortly after the debut’s release though, Simms and the band parted ways which put Barishi in a holding pattern for a few months until they decided to stop looking for a replacement and fill the position internally.

“We tried a few other singers until I ended up grabbing the vocal reins. There weren’t hordes of disappointed fans or protesting crowds of Sascha loyalists,” Brooks says with a self-deprecating laugh, “so it made it easier to make the sort of identity change that most bands would worry about. Plus, it was hard to find people willing to give up as much as you have to and put in the work to be in a band.”

Once they traversed the hurdle of Simms’ departure, the now-trio discovered a new side of the band. Now that they didn’t have to concern themselves with what to do with a vocalist during lengthy instrumental parts, the songs got longer, more exploratory, grandiose and epic. Add on to that the fact that Old Smoke was gestated over a three year period and it becomes clear why this album brims with a monumental magnanimity.

“Not having a vocalist meant we could do our thing a little more. This was also the first time we demo-ed things extensively and through that process I was able to get a better perspective on the songs and shape them a little bit more towards something we’d want to listen to. I remember having a conversation with a friend about our shared love of Iron Maiden and one of us said something about Maiden being one of those bands that, when you put on a song, you instantly feel like you’re going on a quest. I thought that was bad ass and really wanted to write songs that could be considered ‘quest-worthy.’ I’d say that was a big thing when we were writing these songs: writing longer songs that went somewhere without making them seem cumbersome.”

Despite the excellence of Old Smoke, Barishi is humble and fully cognizant of their position as low rung on the ladder at Season of Mist, in particular, and in the metal scene, in general. Brooks reveals without hesitation that “I’m still surprised we weren’t dropped after losing a charismatic frontman like Sascha,” and that “We’re still new to and nervous about playing big markets like NYC” despite recent tours with Weedeater and Tombs. But with tracks like the lassoed meandering of awesome album opener “The Silent Circle,” the sinister black metal/noise rock slashing of “The Longhunter” and the sky-opening prog-metal enormity of the title track leading the charge, Old Smoke is set to make an indelible mark on the metal scene; one dripping with passion for the art of progressive song writing, honest creative expression and the hunt for one’s individual voice while paying homage to the well-worn parts of record collections.

“A big goal we have is having the band catch up to our tastes in music. Sometimes people have good taste in music, but what they create doesn’t always reflect the quality of that taste. I like to think I have good taste in music and I think we’re starting to reflect that in the music we make. There are bands we really respect that can write super-long, beautiful songs you can listen to and it sucks if you get interrupted because you want to listen to the whole thing in one shot. We want to have songs like that, songs you look forward to listening to. We also want to have an enjoyable creative process in creating something that sits well with us; to make something that survives the long term and is a fair representation of the stuff we’re into.”

Old Smoke it is, then!

Mysterious Rock/Metal band SUPREME UNBEING, led by vocalist/prophet Zac Red, have released their third “message”, “Solutions”

After observing the world for many years, Zac Red has set out on a quest with fellow prophets D. Vine, Unknown and Al Mytee, to shed light over our present existence through the medium of heavy riffs, shredding solos, and philosophically intriguing lyrics addressing issues in modern-day life.

The anonymous group’s only physical representation came in the form of the animated visual for “You’ll Never Make It", created by renowned visual artist Balázs Grof, which premiered in July via REVOLVER Magazine.

Following up the success of the band’s first two messages, “You’ll Never Make It” and “Animals”“Solution", released on Friday on all digital outlets, questions the human search for answers which only seem to be found in their Gods, making people blind and unappreciative of the simplicity of everyday life.

The band signed earlier this year with Megadeth’s David Ellefson’s EMP LABEL GROUP when a strange cassette tape arrived at the desk of EMP LABEL GROUP’S Thom Hazaert. When pressed for comment, Ellefson replied, “Who?”

SUPREME UNBEING is set to release the final single “Dreaming” October 2nd, prior to the release of the band’s debut full-length LP Enter Reality, set to release on 10102020 (October 10th 2020).

NIGHTFALL Shares New Live Performance Video

Nightfall performing 'Ishtar (Celebrate your Beauty)' live at the Sierra studios in Athens, Greece. The track is taken from the band's 'Athenian Echoes' albu...

Greek metal masters NIGHTFALL have shared a brand new performance video for the song "Ishtar (Celebrate your Beauty)," which was recently performed live at the Sierra Studio's in Athens (GR). The track is taken from the band's 1995 release, 'Athenian Echoes.' The record will be reissued by Season of Mist in the future.

Vocalist Efthimis comments on the video: "We are crushingly excited by the fact we are here playing these old classics again. We have spent a hell of a time in the studio to prepare ourselves to be ready to offer nothing less but the absolute best to all of you! We sincerely hope you will enjoy every single moment in this performance and support our Nightfall cult.  More visual and audio samples will follow. This is a song about Ishtar, Queen of Heaven, Inanna, Star of Venus, Goddess of Sex, Goddess of War, Goddess of Justice and Power; This is a song about thee, sung by the almighty adorers of your beauty, the Athenian devotees of thy name."

Moreover, NIGHTFALL will release a brand new album early 2021 via Season of Mist, making it the band's debut to the label.

Recently, Season of Mist released NIGHTFALL's back catalog on all digital platforms! Find the official  NIGHTFALL albums on Spotify HERE!

It has been seven long years since the world was last blessed with new music from the melodic blackened death metal stalwarts of NIGHTFALL. While the band has been absent from the scene since the release of 2013’s Cassiopeia, their legacy has not been forgotten. Comprising the holy trinity of Greek metal – along with ROTTING CHRIST and SEPTICFLESH – NIGHTFALL was the first extreme act in the country to sign an international deal, introducing the world to the burgeoning Mediterranean scene in the early 90s. Now, the band is plotting a triumphant return.

During the first decade of NIGHTFALL’s lifespan, the band headlined stages across Europe. Thereafter, went on to dominate international festivals such as Brutal Assault, Sonisphere, and Wacken, the latter of which the band solidified their legacy as the first ever Greek band to earn an envied spot at the renowned festival. The band eventually made the decision to switch to a studio act before they went completely silent. When reflecting upon the sudden disappearance after a steady rise from the underground, vocalist and founding member Efthimis Karadimas explained that it was due to an all too familiar beast – depression. “It's because of depression that kicked in as early as mid-00s. I can write for hours and get into details about stuff gone wrong or mistreated situations, but the basis of all discouragement to move on has been depression and the effort required to get over it.” Despite the dark days, Karadimas did not abandon music entirely, moving on to form THE SLAYERKING, a gothic doom metal band that has released two agonizing full-length records between 2016-2019.

Alas, the abrupt departure of the band was not the final “goodbye” as NIGHTFALL has been reinvigorated with a new lineup and coveted deal with Season of Mist. Karadimas has reunited with original NIGHTFALL guitarist Mike Galiatsos, who helped define the band’s sound during the early years. With the addition of drummer and producer Fotis Benardo (ex-SEPTICFLESH) as well as guitarist Kostas Kyriakopoulos (THE SLAYERKING), the band is finally ready to release the tenth studio album. In addition to the long-awaited new music, Season of Mist will also be re-issuing the band’s original albums that were produced by Holy Records back in the 90s. This is not the only news the band has to share as NIGHTFALL has also vowed to finally perform again. “We are gonna play these live, including stuff never played live before,” says Karadimas.

Genre: Melodic Blackened Death Metal
