The Wolves of VARG Release Title Track “Zeichen” (engl. signs) and Official Video

Pre-order "Zeichen" now: https://smarturl.it/Zeichen-NPR Out September 18th Official VARG Merchandise Shop: https://varg-shop.de/ The wolves of VARG return t...

New Album, Zeichen, to be Released on

September 18, 2020 | Pre-Order NOW

VARG return to the heritages of pure Pagan Metal!

The wolves of VARG return to their roots with their seventh full-length album, Zeichen (engl. “signs”), to be released on September 18, 2020 via Napalm Records. The album marks a new era of the wolves haunted by wild battles, death and bloodlust - a resurrection from the fields of Pagan Metal, pairing razor-sharp melodic death riffs with Freki's furious vocals. Forget anything you have seen or heard about them in the past few years and embrace the new album as a reboot of a band that never ceased to evolve and has gotten rid of everything superfluous.

VARG sets an uncompromising sign with first monumental single “Zeichen” (engl. signs), which comes along with an official video and introduces the concept behind their upcoming offering. Visually and lyrically, their first single draws the listener deep into the Viking era, picturing their traditions, a strong community cohesion, ancient runes, the old gods and their beliefs. The chorus gets stuck in your head, coalesces with the blasting power of riffs and perfectly showcases the reincarnation of VARG”Zeichen” is the ultimate hymn heralding the age of the wolves.

Singer Freki states:

“”Zeichen” is the heart of our new album, maybe even of the "new" VARG. It was important to us to release the title song first along with an official music video, since it reflects the energy of our new full-length both musically and visually, and invites our fans to the legendary era of the Vikings. Follow us on a journey!”

The wolves of VARG set an incomprimising sign and

deliver their most furious work to date!

On their authentic masterpiece Zeichen, the wolves of VARG return to their roots and embark on a journey further down a new road. Within the first seconds of the album opener breaking loose, VARG draws the listener into the year “793” that heralded the ferocious era of the Vikings. In contrast, "Fara Til Ranar", including additional female vocals, is a melancholic, captivating saga about the Nordic sea goddess Rán, who pulls wandering sailors down into her wet grave. "Verräter", on the other hand, emphasizes the suffering and vengeance towards former allies with rapid guitar leads, and ultimately, the album culminates in the mighty title hymn “Zeichen”

In addition to the ten new tracks, the mediabook contains a bonus CD featuring alternate versions of each song the band recorded with renowned guest musicians from Eluveitie, Nachtblut and Equilibrium among others. Looking at the final opus, it's not surprising why VARG took four years after the publication of Das Ende Aller Lügen (which hit number 17 on the German charts) to regather their forces, and today, Zeichen shows that Freki, Fenrier, Morkai and Garm consciously took their time to realign their inner compass and are not afraid of musical and intellectual freedom.

Singer Freki states:

"In Norse mythology, the earth cleanses itself in fire and rises from the ashes - Zeichen is the rebirth of VARG. Based on our pagan metal roots, we have lyrically discarded all modern elements and simultaneously lifted vocals, melody and musical hardness to a whole new level. The path we walk on Zeichen is raw, pagan, authentic and completely dedicated to the Viking cult, runes and the old gods. Can you hear the murmuring? The runes have awakened!"

Zeichen will be available in the following formats:

2 CD mediabook

1 CD jewelcase

2 LP gatefold black

2 LP gold/black spotted (Napalm shop exclusive)

Wooden box set (Napalm shop exclusive)

GARGOYL Reveals New Album Details, Debuts First Single

Subscribe to Season Of Mist for new releases : https://som.lnk.to/YouTube 'Gargoyl' is out on October 9, 2020. Order here: North America: https://shopusa.sea...

Progressive grunge rockers GARGOYL, which features guitar virtuoso Dave Davidson (REVOCATION) and guitarist/vocalist Luke Roberts (AYAHUASCA), will be releasing their debut full-length on October 9 via Season of Mist! The cover artwork and tracklist for the self-titled offering can be found below. In conjunction with this announcement, the band has shared "Electrical Sickness," the first single from the record.

Vocalist/guitarist Luke Roberts comments, "This song is not meant to be a pleasant experience. There's a background static of anxiety and depression that seems to linger everywhere in our society. I would like to suggest it's time we look at these feelings in ourselves and take responsibility for them instead of taking them out on each other or trying to hide from them in all of our distractions."

GARGOYL's self-titled album is available for pre-orders HERE.

Gargoyl is many things at once, which, automatically subjects the band to the journalistic and fan guessing game/rite of passage as to what style they actually are. Their 11-song self-titled debut is progressive, atmospheric, heavy, technical and avant-garde; a blend of sounds that ultimately coalesce into a body of work that engages and challenges. That, in itself, covers a broad spectrum, but further inroads into Gargoyl’s sound continually reveal new elements of intrigue and persuasion. It is the beauty — and purpose — of the project.

Formed in early 2018 by guitarist Dave Davidson (Revocation) and guitarist/vocalist Luke Roberts (Ayahuasca), the groundwork for Gargoyl was laid when the two men met while on tour. The pair realized they shared a musical kinship and admiration for one another and made good on their word to see the project through. Gargoyl’s two-song Asomatous demo was released in March 2019, setting the stage for their eventual signing to Season of Mist and release of their debut LP this October. The album’s drums were recorded in July 2019 with Chris Johnson at GodCity Studios in Salem, Massachusetts; guitars were tracked with Greg Dawson at BWC Studios outside of Toronto. Vocals were recorded by Roberts at his home studio.

Gargoyl is completed by the virtuosic talents of bassist Brett Leier and drummer James Knoerl who collectively add further layers of intrigue and soul to the music. The collaboration between members opened up the creative floodgates and further expanded their sound. “The riffs were flowing out so fast,” remarks Davidson about the early stages of the writing process. “It was clear that these ideas were in the back of our minds waiting to come out.”

The music for their self-titled album was split evenly between Davidson and Roberts, with Roberts also penning the album’s lyrics and vocal melodies. “Working with someone in more of a 50/50 kind of collaborative style was new for me,” elaborates Davidson. “It’s nice having someone to split those writing duties with, someone who is just as invested in every little single intricacy and detail. It allowed me to function in a different sort of role, which was refreshing. I think that also led to more creativity because I’m writing in a different style, writing with all new members and taking on a different writing role in a band.”

The haunting and melancholic tonality of Roberts’ vocals is undoubtedly one of the primary facets of Gargoyl’s sound. Roberts’s layering, harmonies and inflection, at times, recall classic vocalists from the ’90s grunge era, but what really sold Davidson was his versatility and ability to contour his clean, distinctive vocals over unorthodox compositions.

As a result, Gargoyl’s debut successfully oscillates between unnerving, emotional segments, to progressive, Goth-tinged hard rock. Davidson and Roberts have crafted Gargoyl in such a manner that it refuses to be boxed-in. Davidson has already fielded quite a few assertions on Gargoyl’s sound — some have tagged it as grunge meets black metal, Queens of The Stone Age meets Voivod or even a jazzier version of Alice In Chains.

“Anytime a band has a lot of different influences…I think it’s important to have a clear vision and goal so that all those influences mesh together in a way that doesn’t sound forced,” says Davidson. “I wanted it to be a cohesive, artistic statement and I know that Luke does as well. I’ve always wanted to blend genres. In the truest sense of the word we’re ‘prog rock.’”

Septicflesh Shares Live Video for "The Vampire from Nazareth"

Septicflesh performing 'The Vampire from Nazareth', taken from the upcoming Septicflesh DVD "Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX" ► Order here: https://redirect.season-...

Greek symphonic death metal masters SEPTICFLESH have shared a live video for the song "The Vampire from Nazareth." The clip is taken from the band's upcoming 'Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX' DVD/Blu-Ray, which is due on July 31 via Season of Mist. The clip can be seen at THIS LOCATION.

The full concert was taped in February 2019 during a sold out show at the Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City (MX). The unforgettable night was the largest production of its kind at the venue, which included the band, over 100 musicians from the Symphonic Experience Orchestra, the Enharmonía Vocalis Choir, and the National University of Mexico Children’s and Youth Choir.

SEPTICFLESH comments, "Our friends, we are presenting to you a clip taken from our new live release entitled 'Infernus Sinfonica MMXIX.' We offer 'The Vampire from Nazareth.' Enjoy!"

The Blu-ray DVD is set for worldwide release on July 31, 2020 via Season of Mist and pre-orders are available HERE.

SEPTICFLESH are painting an apocalyptic vision and make full use of their impressive musical palette consisting of death metal and orchestral colours on their tenth full-length, 'Codex Omega'.

From their alpha EP 'Temple of the Lost Race' that was released one year after their founding in 1990, the Greek musicians have pushed the limits of the metal genre and continued to explore new sonic path with every following release from their debut album 'Mystic Places of Dawn' (1994) to the stunning 'Sumerian Daemons' (2003), which have in the meantime all been re-issued by Season of Mist.

Yet SEPTICFLESH had clearly come into their own sound when they unleashed their celebrated comeback album after a five-year hiatus that re-charged their artistic batteries. 'Communion' (2008) offered a well-balanced amalgamation of metal elements that were freely drawn from the darker side of the genre including death, black, and gothic metal with epic orchestral arrangements. This symphonic excellence was based on guitarist Christos Antoniou bringing to bear the fruits of his academic studies of classical composition, which he passed with honours and distinction.

With a clear musical compass to navigate, SEPTICFLESH continued to explore their sound and the compositional possibilities of this new-found metal continent. 'The Great Mass' (2011) and 'Titan' (2014) saw the Greeks evolving at fast speed and at the same time gathering adherents as well as critical praise in ever growing numbers. Extended touring on both sides of the Atlantic and performances at about every important festival further consolidated the bands burgeoning status.

Although the biblical omega marks the end, SEPTICFLESH on the contrary reached their current peak with 'Codex Omega' (2017), an album that clearly witnesses the Greek visionaries having come to maturity and expert craftsmanship in every sense.

UNLEASH THE ARCHERS Releases Soaring New Anthem "Soulbound" + Brand New Music Video

Pre-order "Abyss" here: https://smarturl.it/UTA-Abyss Out August 21st Frontwoman Brittney Slayes says about "Soulbound" and the music video concept: "This so...

New Full-Length Album, Abyss, out August 21, 2020 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order HERE

Canadian melodic power metal quartet UNLEASH THE ARCHERS recently announced the upcoming release of their masterful fifth full-length concept album, Abyss, out August 21, 2020 via Napalm Records. With Abyss, the band re-cements themselves as an unequalled, undeniable metallic force with their strongest album to date.

Today, as a follow-up to the otherworldly first single and video "Abyss", UNLEASH THE ARCHERS have unveiled another blazing new single, "Soulbound", alongside a cinematic, high-concept music video. Powered by Brittney Slayes' powerful mezzo-soprano, the virtuosic guitar stylings of Andrew Kingsley and Grant Truesdell, and the thunderous drumming of Scott Buchanan, "Soulbound" pulls the listener into a melodic, lightning-fast journey. Its massive chorus and skyrocketing symphonics will echo in your ears for days to come!

Frontwoman Brittney Slayes says about "Soulbound" and the music video concept:

"This song is what we call a 'quick-banger' in the UTA camp. It's short, fast, catchy, and never lets up. We always have one of these on every record; the kind of song that makes you want to turn the dial up to 11, maybe drive a little faster, perhaps even stand up and headbang by yourself in the middle of the room. This track re-introduces the four sons of The Matriarch as enslaved, unstoppable, half-dead beings that won't give up until The Immortal is destroyed, and we feel like it can stand on its own while not giving too many of the album's secrets away... Get out your air-guitars 'cause this one is blistering!"

The video was shot by Runegate Studios in Victoria BC, Canada and uses two very different environments to differentiate between the world of the living, and the world of the 'Soulbound'. The bright, white, indoor scenes portray a reality much like our own, while the dark, rain-soaked, outdoor scenes take the viewer to a visually stunning reality that will give you goosebumps and make your skin crawl! In this dismal place, The Matriarch has complete control over the Soulbound, and she can compel them there whenever she desires, no matter how hard they may resist."

Thematically, Abyss is the direct sequel to the band’s 2017 album Apex. Beginning with a dreamlike acoustic introduction accented by the smoky beckonings of singer Brittney Slayes, opener “Waking Dream” quickly punches into a colossal wall of sound, setting the stage for the auditory escape that is Abyss. Powerful anthems such as the immense power metal-encapsulated title track “Abyss” and metallic pop-tinged earworm “Through Stars” conjure classic elements while maintaining an entirely fresh, forward-thinking approach. Guitarists Andrew Kingsley and Grant Truesdell turn heads with wicked work on stellar tracks such as “Legacy” (fans of artists like Devin Townsend and Astronoid, take note), while Slayes showcases her incredible vocal diversity and range on mighty epics like “Return To Me” and “The Wind That Shapes The Land”. Drummer Scott Buchanan makes technical strides on burners “Soulbound” and “Faster Than Light” – setting breakneck twists and turns ablaze with his bandmates. UNLEASH THE ARCHERS rounds the edge of Abyss with throwback-hued “Carry The Flame”, and wraps up with the soaring, rewarding concept closer “Afterlife”.

Abyss was once again engineered, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen of Hansen Studios in Denmark (Volbeat, Delain, Amaranthe), with production by guitarist Andrew Kingsley. Additionally, transcendent closer track “Afterlife” features orchestration contributions from Francesco Ferrini of Italian symphonic death metal machine Fleshgod ApocalypseFans will notice that, unlike on ApexAbyss incorporates a weighty dose of synth in the mix, and for the first time ever, all tracks were written on seven strings – adding to the massive expanse of the album’s sound as it explores the celestial realm.

Pre-order Abyss in physical, digital and bundle formats HERE!

Abyss is available for pre-order in digitalCD format, as well as 2LP gatefold vinyl format in original blacklimited edition red/yellow swirl (mailorder only, limited to 300 copies), and limited edition purple (North American mailorder only, limited to 100 copies). The album can also be purchased with several additional bundles including t-shirts and more!

limited edition Deluxe Earbook format is also available – the only edition including instrumental versions of each track, plus two bonus tracks – synthwave and gothic folk-pop versions of “Abyss” and “Soulbound”, respectively (also featured in a standalone 7” only available with the Earbook format). This is something UNLEASH THE ARCHERS has never done before, turning their tracks into something completely different!

Having reaped critical acclaim for their latest album 'Finisterre' (2017) and solidifying their position as one of the best live bands out there, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT are about to release their first ever live album, recorded in Lido, Berlin (Germany) on October 14, 2017. The set, featuring songs from the band’s entire discography, is a testimony to the technical prowess of these musicians and the fine craftmanship in songwriting that the German band is widely known for.

Over the relatively short period of 10 years, the sound of DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT has clearly progressed, making each piece fit more seamlessly. 'Finisterre' flows together into a coherent picture that stresses the Germans’ unique approach and sound. This album marks the point where DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT turn their various influences into a work entirely of their own expression despite never trying to cover up their roots. This impressive maturity has been reached through several stages.

Founded in 2009 by guitarist Nikita Kamprad and vocalist Tobias Jaschinsky, DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT garnered early attention with their self-released debut 'Der Weg einer Freiheit' (2009), which quickly sold out and was re-issued with new drum tracks a year later. Following the 'Agonie' EP (2011), their second album 'Unstille' (2012) already cored international acclaim. In the aftermath of this record, co-founding member Tobias left and main songwriter Nikita Kamprad took over his vocal duties.

Rising Steel is an up-and-coming heavy metal band from Grenoble, France, who also happens to be the first French band signed to Frontiers Music Srl. After their "Warlord" EP (2014) and full-length "Return of the Warlord" (2016), the band shared stages with acts like Annihilator, Jaded Heart, Sister Sin, Nightmare, ADX, Nashville Pussy, and more, which garnered them more exposure to a larger international audience and eventually led them to connecting with Frontiers, who eagerly asked them to join the label's expanding metal roster.

After three years of gigging and writing new material, the band is now ready to storm the international scene with their next album, “Fight Them All”. Due for release on Frontiers Records on September 4, 2020, the album presents a delightfully aggressive mixture of power, heavy, and thrash metal. Explosive riffing, crushing rhythms, and songs that will make you bang your head are the order of the day on Rising Steel's upcoming record, “Fight Them All”. The quintet delivers a “not so” classical heavy metal sound with their influences coming mainly from the 80’s NWOBHM, hard rock, and thrash metal scenes. Solid and powerful metal music, the band is inspired by the legacies of legends like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden and is recommended for fans with diverse metal palates who like bands ranging from Nevermore, Queensrÿche, Iced Earth, early Metallica, and the like.

DRACONIAN Unveils Second Single and Lyric Video for “Sorrow Of Sophia” From New Album,Under A Godless Veil

Pre-Order 'Under a Godless Veil' - out October 30, 2020, via Napalm Records: https://smarturl.it/UnderAGodlessVeil Vocalist Anders Jacobsson comments: "Sorro...

New Epos, Under A Godless Veil, out October 30, 2020 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order NOW!

“Sophia is forgiven

the mother of our prison

Sophia is glistening

always weeping for the world“

DRACONIAN, the sovereigns of melancholic Gothic Doom Metal and colossal lyricism, have released their second single “Sorrow Of Sophia”, off their upcoming album, Under A Godless Veil, out October 30, 2020 via Napalm Records.

The opening epos on DRACONIAN’s new offer epitomizes the story behind the album and introduces the world of Gnosticism to the listener. Delicate guitar lines weave throughout “Sorrow Of Sophia” while the ethereal vocals of singer Heike Langhans accompany the melancholic vibe of the song. At the very latest, when the heavier guitar and drum parts start, the song will draw you into the world of DRACONIAN. Heavy growls underline the sudden change in the song and will make you remember the essence of the band. The beautiful conceptualized lyric video perfectly underlines the narrative and musical atmosphere of “Sorrow Of Sophia”. Their stunning second single showcases another expressive facet off their upcoming full-length and shouldn’t be missed in every well groomed Gothic/Doom Metal collection!

Vocalist Anders Jacobsson comments:

"Sorrow Of Sophia was the first lyric, and one of the first songs written for Under A Godless Veil. This was years ago now, and I remember I’d just finished a lecture on Gnostic cosmology by Terence McKenna. He’d been speaking of the goddess Sophia’s ordeal and her story affected me on a very deep level. It’s sad yet heart-wrenchingly majestic bringing all of existence into it. I knew I had to do something with it for DRACONIAN as I was already having a few of Johan’s new song-ideas. This sparked what was later to become a whole album inspired by this story. It started here, with this song.

“Sorrow Of Sophia” is a complex song about a complex spiritual being. With it comes a diverse nature consisting of an initial minimalist soulful expression to feisty, heavy riffing with a harsh demonic formula to post-rock melancholia and symphonic soundscapes. Heike’s pure and crystalline vocals are beautifully entrenched holding the very spirit of the song."

A hauntingly doom spirit covers the world underneath a melancholic, Godless Veil.

Almost five years after the release of their latest long-player SovranDRACONIANannounce the release of their new epos, Under a Godless Veil, out October 30, 2020 via Napalm Records.

The upcoming full-length delivers a captivating mélange of dreary doom and contrasting vocals and is the second offering featuring stunning singer Heike Langhans. The first notes of the opener will immediately draw the listener into a void of interweaving beauty, coalescing with paralyzing depression that leaves nothing but the desire of total immersion in the whole record. Under a Godless Veil carries the legacy of gothic doom metal à la My Dying Bride into a new decade of the genre.

DRACONIAN states:

“To DRACONIANUnder a Godless Veil is by far the most diverse album we have created. Inspired by some of the music closest to Johan’s heart; everything from traditional Doom to scaled-down, Gothic rock-inspired pieces and more. Some will perhaps describe the songs as more refined and meditative. Some ambient elements have been added to the mix without overshadowing the traditional characteristics that are DRACONIAN

Resonating with the compositions, Anders’s lyrical direction is ambiguous and a progression of the first two-three albums, yet more subtle while embracing the Gnostic philosophy more directly. One could say Under a Godless Veil is an act of contemplation; About living and dying and remembering who we are in a strange, abrasive world far from home.“

DRACONIAN is:

Anders Jacobsson - vocals

Heike Langhans - vocals

Johan Ericsson - guitar

Daniel Arvidsson - guitar

Jerry Torstensson - drums

AETHER REALM to Reissue Acclaimed 2017 Album Tarot via Napalm Records

Pre-order the reissue of "Tarot" on brand new physical formats - out September 11, 2020: https://smarturl.it/AR-Tarot

napAvailable in Several Brand New, Unique Formats on September 11, 2020

Pre-Order All Editions HERE

It’s no secret that AETHER REALM’s acclaimed 2017 release Tarot is the album that truly surged these melodic death heroes onto the metal map, and now, fans can own the album in an array of exceptional new formats upon its reissue with Napalm Records on September 11, 2020!

The North Carolina-based quartet’s massive, now 12-track/70+ minute sophomore release (expanded with the addition of previous standalone single “The Magician” to the new physical edition) garnered notable underground appeal and cemented the band’s mind-blowingly multi-faceted sound as their own – spurring prominent metal blogs such as No Clean Singing and Angry Metal Guy to dub the album as an “enormous accomplishment” and “spectacular”, respectively.

Frontman/bassist Vincent "Jake" Jones says:

“Four years ago, we made a promise... and it’s finally time we made good. Our 2017 album Tarot is being re-released on CD and vinyl by Napalm Records. The re-release will feature new cover art by Adrian Baxter and will include the song “The Magician” like we’d originally intended. To those of you that donated to receive vinyl in our original crowdfunding campaign, we’ll be in touch.

The album clocks in just shy of 80 minutes in length and includes our most lengthy and ambitious singular musical effort to date – “The Sun, The Moon, The Star”. Tarot was our first full length album with Kile Odell on mixing, mastering, and production. Additionally, we worked with Dan Müller of Wilderun for the orchestration, with Philip Reed for choir arrangement and recording, and with members of Paladin, Inferi, Alestorm, Lorelei, and many others for guest musical contributions of all kinds.

Our eternal thanks goes to all who have played a role in providing us the resources to make the music we’ve created so far. As for what the future holds, of course there’s no way to tell... or is there?”

Pre-order your edition of Tarot via Napalm Records HERE

Boasting an evident auditory overhaul courtesy of producer Kile Odell and loosely based on the concept of tarot cards, Tarot begins the masterpiece to come with “The Fool” – beginning modestly, then ominously cascading into a black metal-meets-southern-fried riff inspired fury. Further setting the stage for the remainder of the opus, incendiary title track “Tarot” leans heavier into what fans have now come to love from AETHER REALM – a confident, cinematic melding of spine-tingling symphonic elements, thrashy rhythms and mind-boggling guitar leads. Following folk metal anthem-turned-talent show “King of Cups” (featuring labelmate Christopher Bowes of massive pirate metal titans Alestorm), Tarot continues to blindingly-shine with tracks like the metallic ballad-echoed “Death” and sinister orchestral oeuvre “The Devil” – the latter of which should catch any competition shaking in their boots. The remainder of Tarot – capped by the nearly 20-minute heroic “The Sun, The Moon, The Star” – proves that it is indeed possible to flawlessly meld southern Americana-metal riffs with European-tinged symphonic soundscapes.

Tarot is the album that every band wishes they could attempt by their second go-round, yet AETHER REALM have already achieved it and gaze triumphantly ahead!

AETHER REALM is:

VENOMOUS CONCEPT Debuts New Song, "Eliminate"

Subscribe to Season Of Mist for new releases : https://som.lnk.to/YouTube Taken from the forthcoming album "Politics Versus the Erection". Release Date: Augu...

Grindcore / hardcore punk veterans VENOMOUS CONCEPT (featuring band members of BRUTAL TRUTH and NAPALM DEATH) will be releasing their topical fourth full-length, 'Politics Versus The Erection' on August 28, 2020! The band is now sharing "Eliminate," the second new single from the offering.

'Politics Versus The Erection' can be pre-ordered HERE.

If the state of today’s society is reflected in music, hardcore punk / grindcore veterans VENOMOUS CONCEPT have returned to the stage with a fitting soundtrack. The band’s fourth full-length frontal assault, ‘Politics Versus The Erection’ manifests a no-nonsense and outspoken voice, resonating with the chaos that reigns over the world today.

Starting out in 2004, the band was conceived as something like a grind punk supergroup - if that term can even be applied to a bunch of people with clear counterculture preferences. The name was chosen to pay homage to the legendary POISON IDEA.

At the core of VENOMOUS CONCEPT you will find BRUTAL TRUTH vocalist Kevin Sharp and Shane Embury, the iconic bass player of NAPALM DEATH. The two musicians had bonded over beer and pizza as well as their mutual love of punk heroes such as BLACK FLAG, SYSTEMATIC DEATH, GBH, SIEGE, and of course POISON IDEA.

The duo soon set about plotting its own assault on the style. Armed with bucketloads of coffee, the pair roped in Danny Herrera of NAPALM DEATH on drums, as well as MELVINS guitarist Buzz Osborne. A record deal was signed with Mike Patton and VENOMOUS CONCEPT's first album, 'Retroactive Abortion' (2004) was followed by a split-CD with Japanese grind band 324 (2006) and another in 2008 with BLÖOD DÜSTER.

Buzz Osborne eventually went on a hiatus, but he never really left and there is always a chance for his return - schedules permitting. Shane switched to guitar when longtime friend Dan Lilker (BRUTAL TRUTH, NUCLEAR ASSAULT, ex-ANTHRAX) joined on bass. Next, VENOMOUS CONCEPT brought in John Cooke of CORRUPT MORAL ALTAR on second guitar for touring. Sophomore full-length 'Poisoned Apple' hit the stores in 2008.

A quiet spell followed, but the band returned fully charged and ready for attack with their third record 'Kick Me Silly - VC III' in 2016, which saw VENOMOUSCONCEPT continue in their trademark grindcore punk style. Following a European tour with BRUJERIA in 2019 and several festivals shows, the musicians headed back into the studio to write and record their fourth album.

With over 30 minutes of short, sharp musical blasts, venomous lyrics, satirical animations, and by offering their candid views, VENOMOUS CONCEPT have again created a record that breathes a true hardcore punk spirit.

Line-up
Kevin Sharp - Vocals
Shane Embury - Bass
John Cooke - Guitar
Danny Herrera - Drums

Style: Grindcore / hardcore punk

SIMON COLLINS ANNOUNCES RELEASE DATE FOR NEW ALBUM "BECOMING HUMAN"

DUE SEPTEMBER 4, 2020

FIRST SINGLE & VIDEO, ALBUM'S TITLE TRACK, OUT TODAY

Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of Simon Collins new album, "Becoming Human", on September 4, 2020. Today, Simon has released the first single and video, the title track to the album

Pre-order/save "Becoming Human" HERE: https://orcd.co/simoncollins

Simon Collins has been grappling with heady subjects while writing his new album. He can spend hours discussing astronomy, cosmology, and quantum physics. He loves a good conspiracy theory too, but the rollercoaster that we all face as we become human, is the focus of the album's theme. The album ultimately is a conversation about surrender, renewal, uplift, and mortality. Not surprisingly, the album is called "Becoming Human."

"I've spent a long time thinking about this theme, even the production itself was a micro life-cycle," says Simon.

"There's a school of thought that believes humans become spiritual, but I think it's the other way around. To me, we are spiritual beings who are learning to become human. Are we a way for the universe to know itself? Or is the universe a way for us to know ourselves?" Simon asks. "I suppose you could make sense of it either way, but the two mean something different."

Collins paints with a range of emotional colors on "Becoming Human," "I'm proud of these new songs," says Simon. "They reflect the person I am, the person I’m becoming, the person I'm striving to be. Writing songs on ”becoming," not just “being” is a powerful tool, it’s about evolving in time and space. The music is generous, intimate, openhearted. There's a lot of me living in these songs. They're deeply personal for me or anyone listening that has been through those experiences of fear, love and hope. The joy of freedom, of acceptance and forgivingness. Of figuring out who I am or anyone is, and how we relate to the world. What is really going on? What is the truth behind the truth?"

"Maturing as an artist and human being has enabled me to find my own voice and confident musical direction no matter what people say," explains Simon. Growing up on tour around being his Genesis, Simon naturally gravitated towards the drums as a child. "It's part of my musical DNA," he explains. As a teenager, he also became proficient on the guitar and the piano, which is how he usually writes. As children of famous parents often do, Collins has grappled with core questions about the meaning of success and failure. It also took years for Simon to create his own identity through his music, and he now looks out onto a wide scope of opportunity he has created for himself through much hard work and dedication.

"I've always tried to leave my songs and videos open to interpretation, but this record is clearly about my own path and journey in the pursuit of happiness. I'm free to climb out of that spacesuit. Lighter. Freer. I need to push things forward and push the boundaries of being human," says Simon.

Collins has been extremely patient about the process of renewal. "It has given me time to untangle the complicated arc of my emotional life. I've known some tumultuous times. So I've had to do a lot of digging and healing. In that way, the writing process for Becoming Human was extremely therapeutic."

Of the album, Simon says, "This body of work reflects a deep, wild existential journey and sonic evolution. The soundscape explores a progressive fusion of electronic and rock Influences, a cross-pollination of genres melding space atmospheres and ambient moods with progressive pop song craft, creating a futuristic progressive sounding album."

Guest musicians on the album include original Sound Of Contact guitarist Kelly Avril Nordstrom, the outstanding bass player Gaz Williams, and lastly guitarist Robin Boult. Robbie also brought his bespoke keyboard and sound design to the mix. Simon plays some keys too, along with drums and of course, all vocals. Being Phil Collins’ son, Simon naturally gravitated towards the drums as a child. "It's part of my musical DNA," he says.

"Robbie and I collaborated on many of the songs, the album also features co-writes with Dave Kerzner and Kelly Avril Nordstrom on songs I initially brought to the mountain of material earmarked for the second "Sound of Contact" album," adds Simon.

"Becoming Human" is Simon's fourth solo release, following his debut "All of Who You Are" (2000), sophomore effort "Time For Truth" (2005), and his third album "U-Catastrophe" (2008). In 2010, Collins co-founded the critically acclaimed band Sound of Contact. Featuring Simon on lead vocals and drums, the rest of the band included keyboardist/co-producer Dave Kerzner, guitarist/bassist Kelly Nordstrom, and bassist/guitarist Matt Dorsey. The band received the Limelight Award (essentially "Best New Band") at the Progressive Music Awards in 2013. Their debut album, "Dimensionaut" ended up being the fastest selling debut album by any band in the 20 year history of Inside Out Music.

So, with Becoming Human under his belt, an album based on the many aspects of the human condition, there is a hint of transformation through storytelling, a glimpse of evolving consciousness. "My own," Simon says.

White Dog Signs to Rise Above Records

White Dog hail from Austin, Texas and are a brand new signing to Rise Above Records. We are very excited to bring you their self-titled, debut full-length al...

Self-Titled Album Set For Release September 25th

“From the beginning we were beating the streets of Austin. This city is fuckin’ wild. There's always something going on and the party never ends so that good time rock ‘n’ roll thing definitely rubbed off on us as little pups...”

In a world full of fakes and clowns, nothing quite hits the spot like a band that walks it, talks it and rocks it for real. Born amid the musical and cultural whirlwind of Austin, Texas, White Dog already sound like the perfect antidote to plastic sonic bullshit and sanitized radio fodder. In fact, as guitarist Carl Amoss explains, White Dog are the bastard sons of their city’s entire underground scene /and/ the spirit of rock ’n’ roll itself. Alongside drummer brother John, bassist Rex Pape, co-guitarist Clemente De Hoyos and singer Joe Sterling, these old school troublemakers are on a clearly defined mission.

White Dog are set to release their self-titled Rise Above Records debut on September 25th.  Today the first single from the album entitled “The Lantern.”  Listen to it HERE.

Pre-orders will be available in the coming weeks.

Like all the greatest bands, White Dog were swift to establish a gang mentality, locating common ground and setting up shop in the middle of it. As you will hear on the band’s fiery and fearless self-titled debut album, Carl and his comrades have a chemistry that can only be conjured through true friendship and shared ideals.

With a sound that owes a noble debt to the greats of proto-metal, heavy progressive rock and turbocharged psychedelia, White Dog explore all kinds of exhilarating territory on their debut. From the flailing, psych-rock kaleidoscope of opener Sawtooth to the edgy, Witchcraft-like strut of Lanterns, and on to the lysergic garage rock of Crystal Panther and wickedly epic closer Verus Cultus, the Texans’ first full-length is a triumph for unpretentious authenticity and the art of old school songwriting.

True to their shared belief in playing untamed rock ’n’ roll that sounds real and alive, White Dog was conceived and executed with analogue values firmly at the forefront. As a result, the album feels almost like a real-time fever dream, with the ultimate psychedelic house band wailing away as reality disintegrates elsewhere.

The final piece of the White Dog jigsaw came when the band signed up with revered UK imprint Rise Above Records. Firmly in their natural habitat, Carl and his band mates are looking forward to a bright future, supported by like-minded people and buoyed by a strong sense that mind-expanding rock ‘n’ roll is still a formidable force, even in this insane world.

VREID Releases Video for Song "Milorg," Announces Signature Beer and Historic Live Show

Milorg - In the mountains of Sognametal (Official Music Video) taken from the live streaming session in Sogndalsdalen June 13th 2020. Video made by: Håvard N...

In the beginning of June, Norwegian hard rock icons VREID streamed a unique live performance that took place against the backdrop of the mountains in their hometown of Sogndal, Norway. The stream was an immense success with over 130,000 people viewers across the globe! Now, the band has partnered with Ghost Cult Magazine to release the video clip for the song "Milorg," which is the titled track from their WWII themed record of the same name

In addition to the video, VREID will be reopening the concert scene in Oslo (NO) on August 15, 2020! The historic performance will take place at the legendary Rockefeller venue and will be the first metal show in the city since the Covid-19 closure. The show sold out immediately and due to the demand, a second show has been added.

On this night, VREID will also launch their very own signature beer, which has been crafted by the band’s guitarist Stian “Strom” Bakketeig and Balder Brewery.

Moreover, the band has finished material for the follow up to 2018's 'Lifehunger!' The new record will be released via Season of Mist during the first half of 2021. The band will enter the studio in early autumn and reports that the spirit in the band is stronger and darker than ever before. The Nordic flame burns stronger year by year!

The band comments:
“It’s strange and weird times for everyone. For Vreid, we have done as we always do, march onwards. I have been working hard on new material for the last months. Started working new stuff last year, but in the last few months things have fallen into place, and we will go into studio soon. I have such a great feeling for the new material, expect an early 2021 release and expect a dark and raw brew.

“Talking about brew, in August we launch our own Vreid Beer. It’s a cooperation with our local Balder Brewery, and its crafted by our own beer wizard Stian. We launch the beer when we do 2 shows at Rockefeller in Oslo on August 15. This will be the first metal show they do as part of their reopening, and we can’t wait to get back out that stage.

“But already this week things are happening as we release a video from the streaming session we did at my mountain farm. The response was completely overwhelming, so we decided to release a video for the track ‘Milorg’ for you. During autumn and winter we will have plenty of new and old (::wink::) news for you all. Fingers crossed that we can return to touring in 2021 as well. Stay strong, act reasonable and enjoy metal.”

Earlier this year, VREID announced their participation in the prestigious "Songs That Changed the World" project. The band were commissioned by the Nobel Peace Center and Inferno Metal Festival to interpret and cover a song about freedom of expression. The event was slated to take place at the Nobel Peace Center on April 7, 2020, but has been postponed due to the pandemic. The new date is TBD.

'Lifehunger,' which was released in September 2018. Listen to the full album HERE.

VREID were formed in 2004. The Norwegian metal brigade rose from the ashes of WINDIR after the tragic perishing of the "Sognametal" legends with the declared mission of exploring new musical paths.

The Norsemen proved true to their words and have so far delivered 7 albums and one DVD, which each received high praise from critics and fans alike. VREID chose a course of constant evolution that is marked by thematically denoted phases regarding their often historically inspired lyrics.

This became particularly clear with albums 'I Krig' (2007) and 'Milorg' (2009), which both revolved around concepts dealing with resistance and liberation of Norway during World War II. With their following three records, VREIDreturned to their Norse roots, especially on latest full-length, 'Sólverv' which received high critical acclaim in 2015.

VREID have hammered out their success partly by being a heavily touring band. The four-piece performed more than 500 shows in 25 countries so far. Their everlasting march to conquer new territories has led the Norwegians to headline tours in Europe, North America, Japan, and India.

VREID's style is often referred to as black 'n roll and Metal Hammer UK described their music as "a unique time travel in metal" as elements of 70's rock, 80's classic metal, and Norwegian black metal are all clearly audible.

Now with eighth album 'Lifehunger', black 'n roll is back! With eight brand new tracks, VREID are ready for the next chapter.

BE’LAKOR Announces Exciting Re-Issues Of Groundbreaking Full-Length Albums:

During Corona-lockdown and due to the fact that Ragnarök Festival was cancelled (where we should have played this weekend), we put together this joint effort...

Stone’s Reach & Of Breath And Bone | Pre-Order NOW

Welcome to the Napalm family, AGATHODAIMON!

Dark metal institution AGATHODAIMON have officially signed a worldwide record deal with Napalm Records. Formed by Sathonys (guitar) and Matthias Rodig (drums) the German five-piece quickly evolved, performed at major European festivals and released six studio albums throughout their vast career.

Seven years after their highly praised full length In DarknessAGATHODAIMON reunited in February 2020 and are currently working on new material! More to be announced soon!

Guitarist Sathonys states:

"We’re proud to announce that we have signed a deal with Napalm Records! As some of you know, AGATHODAIMON was put on hold for years. We've been working on a reunion for many months though, to get back in shape- and when we finally felt ready and announced the comeback in February, we were hoping to find a good partner soon, to release our next album. Yet, I didn't expect that we would be contacted by Napalm right away, a label that has developed in such an impressive way over the course of the last decades. Not only being able to sign lots of excellent bands, but who also managed to gather an impressive team of specialists over the course of time, all fully dedicated to and passionate about metal. So, here we are, and we couldn't be more excited to be part of their artist roster. We're absolutely looking forward to working with these guys!"

Napalm Records A&R Sebastian Muench adds:

"In 1998, AGATHODAIMON released Blacken The Angel an absolute masterpiece! As many, back in the good old days, I heard first about the band when I bought Metal Hammer Germany magazine and listened to the sampler CD that came with it. The song "Tristetea Vehementa" on the Off Road Tracks Vol. 10 Metal Hammer compilation made me fan for life.

AGATHODAIMON was able to perfectly combine the best elements from Symphonic Metal, Gothic Metal and Black Metal. The song "Body of Clay" is arguably even one of the best Doom Metal songs. All five album releases followed that recipe and resulted in some very unique and timeless classic albums. We are super excited to work with AGATHODAIMON in the future!"

AGATHODAIMON are:

Ashtrael - vocals

Sathonys - guitar and vocals

Nakhateth - guitar

Von Yanesh - bass

Mortos - drums

Says Jourgensen, “When AmeriKKKant was first being developed, the album was a direct response to waking up to shock and panic the day after Trump was officially elected. Now, four years later these songs take on new meaning as we get rid of the Mango Moron. Vote this November like your life depends on it, because this time it really does!”

With 30 powerful selections, the playlist features personal favorites of Jourgensen as well as Ministry’s own rally cries including new single “Alert Level” and tracks from the highly politicized album AmeriKKKantthe band’s most recent full-length release.

Listen to it here: http://nblast.de/MinistryElection2020

Loudwire called AmeriKKKant Ministry’s “State of the Union” and Metal Injection said the album “heavily embodies the current maelstrom of political hell that is swallowing the United States” when it was released in 2018 as Trump was taking the presidency. Featuring songs like “We’re Tired Of It” and “Victims Of A Clown,” the tracks are more relevant than ever as many focus on unseating Trump in November.

See this CNN piece about AmeriKKKant “taking on Trump’s America”: https://www.cnn.com/videos/entertainment/2018/06/18/new-ministry-album-takes-on-trumps-america.cnn

AmeriKKKant CDs, exclusive vinyl editions and bundle packages are available at http://nblast.de/MinistryAmeriKKKantNB.

Jourgensen has spent decades using his music to rally fans and listeners to the fight for equal rights, restoring American liberties, exposing exploitation and putting crooked politicians in their rightful place. Songs like “Thieves,” “Lies, Lies, Lies” and “N.W.O.” have taken on political corruption and the societal constructs that led to historic events like 9/11 and the 1992 Los Angeles riots while the George W. Bush administration spurred an entire trilogy from the industrial godfather.

With America still on the brink, Ministry’s Al Jourgensen has re-entered the studio to create his missives that will become material for a to-be-announced new album on Nuclear Blast Records. The first taste, “Alert Level” was released in April, and asked fans to be part of the larger conversation by answering the question posed by the song, How concerned are you?” Many of the videos have been shared across Ministry’s social media pages as the band and Jourgensen encourage fans to remain engaged and informed in 2020.

LORD OF THE LOST Ensemble Tour Announced for 2021!

We’re on the run

We’re leaving soon

One day we’re dying on the moon

“Dying On The Moon” is a beautiful ballad, perfectly performed by Chris Harms and Joy Frost, who’s voices complement each other perfectly in a bittersweet duet. Underlined by the classical The Lord Of The Lost Ensemble, the German Dark Metal maestros deliver a soulful and slightly desperate track that goes straight into the listeners heartstrings - an ode to trusting one’s soul’s decision and believing in yourself. The freshly released song is accompanied by a music video, inspired by technical achievements of the 60s and the moon landing, kept in black and white.

After teaming up on multiple songwriting and composing collaborations with LORD OF THE LOST in the past on tracks such as “Voodoo Doll” or “Ribcages”, for the first time ever, the voice of US American Singer / Songwriter Joy Frost appears on a song by the band. “Dying On The Moon” is the third single taken off the new classical ensemble album Swan Songs III, to be released on August 7th.

Chris Harms on the collaboration with Joy Frost on ”Dying On The Moon”:

"After so many years of knowing each other and writing songs together, it was time to bring Joy in the spot light of the LOTL cosmos. I love her voice so much, I could listen to her all day. Whatever she sings, it sounds good. Anything.“

Joy Frost adds:

"Chris and I have known each other since 2015. The summer when we first met, I was in the front row of his classroom as one of his audio engineering students. I remember dreaming about becoming a songwriter for his band during class, but at the time it was just a fantasy. Five years later, we’ve not only written several songs together but now he’s asked me to step out onto the stage with him as his duet partner. I feel sincerely thankful to have earned his trust in both music and friendship.“

For all visual and audiophile Dark Metal connoisseurs, Swan Songs III comes with a high class Earbook, including demo versions of eight of the new songs, framed in 48 pages full of high quality LORD OF THE LOST illustrations, on three CDs!

LORD OF THE LOST on the album:

"The Swan Songs project started as a musical infidelity, continued in a beloved carry-on and became like a second musical DNA. Meanwhile, we feel at home in our second musical facet, as well as in our classifying LORD OF THE LOST sound / shell. Swan Songs III has a musical depth that even surprises ourselves with a certain distance to its finishing. It is by no means the last part of a trilogy, but so far our personal highlight of LORD OF THE LOST’s classical-career.”
