AFTERMATH Warns the Masses in New "Diethanasia" Video Update

"As a kid I always questioned and challenged authority. That’s one thing that never changed for me. I’m a cynic and that has led to my search for the truth. I have been on a path to answer questions I have had for years. That search has led to some horrifying realities. The quest for the truth and the answers I have uncovered led to our latest album called “There is Something Wrong”. It is a concept record that challenges the listener to question everything and to never believe the official story just because your government or media tells you to. From the Fed to organized religion to Agenda 2030, the lyrics expose it all" says Kyriakos "Charlie" Tsiolis.

He continues, "The song Diethansia was written three years ago. If you listen to the lyrics it is literally about what is happening today. Bill Gates and his followers have been preaching and warning about a global pandemic for years. His attempt to scare the masses into a global vaccinated world that includes microchips used to track us should frighten us all. He is manipulating and distorting facts to justify “his vaccine” and their ultimate plan. Diethansia was written to warn everyone about this plan. They talk about sustainable development and population stabilization. Those phrases are meant to sound like solutions to a problem – a way to help the planet. They aren’t. Do you trust Big Pharma to save you? Do you believe a computer salesman will save you? It is time to wake up and question everything."

The lyrics in the song are not meant as an indictment of all lawyers, doctors, media, etc. The attack is meant for the few within those professions that aren’t interested in helping humanity, but instead destroying it.

Chicago based Aftermath, fronted by Kyriakos “Charlie” Tsiolis, formed in October 1985 when Charlie and his schoolmate Steve Sacco (Guitar) got together. This early incarnation with Adam (Bass) and Ray Schmidt (Drums) released their first demo in 1986 featuring "Sentenced to Death’," "Revenge," "Shotgun," and "The Aftermath."

In 1987, they unleashed their second demo entitled Killing the Future featuring the tracks "When Will You Die," "Going No Place," "Chaos," "Meltdown," and "War for Freedom". The band pursued a mind-blowing speed and technical brand of thrash that soon set them apart from the pack and in the process made them a pioneering crossover thrash band.

Aftermath has continued to receive critical acclaim as one of the major influences in the genre. The band was featured on pages 9 and 10 of Gary Sharpe-Young’s A – Z of Thrash Metal, available on Cherry Red Books. Twenty-five years after its formation, Aftermath’s music made its return in 2011 with the release of the Box Set 25 YEARS OF CHAOS on Area Death Productions and the vinyl When Will You Die on F.O.A.D. The reemergence of one of the most original thrash bands ever continued in 2014 with their decision to reunite for several concerts in 2015. Coming off their first show in 20 years at Ragnarokkr Metal Apocalypse in their hometown of Chicago, the band ripped the stage apart at Headbanger’s Open Air in Hamburg, Germany that summer. In the Fall of 2015, the reunion continued with the reissue of the band's debut Eyes of Tomorrow. With an expanded booklet and remastered by Paul Logus (Pantera, Steel Panther), Shadow Kingdom Records released the band’s debut along with bonus material. Following this release was the Killing the Future reissue on Divebomb Records. Once again Paul Logus remastered the tracks from their original source and created a wall of sound in the process. Killing the Future, along with the expanded booklet and bonus tracks from the band’s 1986 first demo, completed the celebration of the band’s 30th anniversary.

In 2017, the band started writing the material for their new album, There is Something Wrong, an 11-song opus recorded by Chuck Macak and mastered by Ted Jensen. A concept record in the truest sense of the word, the album features a mix of old-school crossover thrash and technical/progressive metal, and is a commentary on what is wrong with the world today. A calling out of the masses to wake up and know the real enemy. The music is urgent, and the lyrics challenge the listener to seek the truth. The lyric video for "Smash Reset Control" visually depicts some of the topics covered on the album. The imagery and the striking red color in the video provide the perfect backdrop for the lyrics and music. Aftermath went back to its early days and revived its crossover thrash stylings on this powerful and ultra-fast song, but this track is only a sample of what the listeners have in store for them once they put on their headphones and listen to There is Something Wrong in its entirety.

Following the release of a bold new track last September—the popular radio hit “Flare of Defiance”—Portland, Oregon’s alt metal-prog hard rockers Veio are set to release their new album Vitruvian on June 19 through Silent Majority Group.

nspired by the name of a famous sketch from Leonardo da Vinci in 1490, the band has conceptualized and translated the artist’s legendary “proportions of man” into a sonic interpretation by giving each song on Vitruvian a theme, emotion and proportion of its own.

“The themes and emotions distinctly expressed on this record are defiance, self-ownership, spirituality, anxiety and depression, deceit, bloodlust, grief and awe and wonder,” says bassist/vocalist Kris Lewis who joins brothers Cameron Byrd (vocals/guitar) and Brett Byrd (drums) in the project, which is named for an Etruscan city-state during the time of the Roman Empire.

Vitruvian was recorded over a year-and-a-half with Stephan Hawkes (Chelsea Grin, Attila, I Declare War) at Interlace Audio in Portland, with additional production by Sylvia Massy (Tool, System of a Down) who has called Veio “the loudest band” she ever recorded. To her point, the cops were called as the band tracked drum parts.

“We have experimented in taking the programming and synth production to a level we’ve never incorporated before,” adds Lewis. “We have also spent a lot of time on new guitar tones and effects to take, what we feel, is a step forward for our music. We wanted to incorporate subtle elements of electronica to give it a bit of a cinematic effect to enhance the depth of the instrumentation, while still playing around with odd time signatures and polymeters and maintaining anthemic and singable choruses.”

The first single, “Flare Of Defiance” was a hit at Active Rock Radio, entering into the Top 30, while also being named a Top 10 Metal Contraband Track. After being placed on a number of official playlists, the song has also helped the band reach the 1 million streams benchmark on Spotify in recent weeks.

Vitruvian follows Veio’s 2017 debut album Infinite Light/Desperate Shadows and tours with the likes of Seether, Tremonti, Starset, The Veer Union, Skyharbor and RED.

Veio is part of the notable Silent Majority Group that has managed the careers of Creed, Saving Abel, Paramore, Candlebox, Sevendust, Tantric, Framing Hanley and Brother Sundance. Los Angeles' death metal masters ABYSMAL DAWN have released the official, 3D video for the song "Coerced Evolution," which is taken from their new album, 'Phylogenesis.'

ABYSMAL DAWN comments: "The basic idea behind the lyrics is that some time in the near future, human life on Earth will have become unsustainable. In turn, a certain portion of the population will forcibly have their consciousnesses uploaded to a grid in order to alleviate resources. The same corporations that would have destroyed the Earth, would run these grids and would continue to make a profit on what's left of humanity in some fashion. The ruling class would continue to live in the real world and make the planet sustainable once again."

We had some free time in the studio while putting together Phylogenesis and decided to do something totally out of the box for us. I don't think many of our fans would think Candlemass are an influence of ours but they are. It's nowhere near the realm of tech-death or brutal death metal but Nightfall is one of my favorite albums and it's an amazing record!

"Now the biggest shocker here is that I laid down some melodic vocals for this one. I don't pretend to be Messiah Marcolin but I gave it my best. I tried to maintain my own voice while paying tribute to the overall vibe of the original. I wasn't sure I could do it at first, but after showing the track to some friends and having the rest of the band excited about it, we decided we weren't making total asses of ourselves. It's a fun track and I think Vito killed it on the lead as well. Enjoy!"

Garage Rock duo, THE DODIES, have released their behind the scenes lyric video for single "Sell Out" off of their debut album It’s One Hell of a Ride that drops on Friday, April 24, 2020.

"I wrote Sell Out after our old band toured and back-lined with an Israeli pop star when we were teenagers. At the time I didn’t really see it as selling out even though the whole project was obviously more about money than music. But as I grew older I was very ashamed of the matter and realized we were taken advantage of. Many promises were made, none came to life" says Yoni.

He adds, "It’s hard defining what a sellout is, since some people take pride in what others might be deeply ashamed of. Compromising my beliefs for a momentary satisfaction is selling out for me, but it’s hard understanding what my beliefs are in the first place. Our beliefs surely have changed since our teens when we played for insensitive idiots. One of the problems with social network today is that something you might not stand by when you come of age is still out there for people to see. That’s at least one of the reasons "social network tends to make me ill."

Ran adds, "To me, the inner conflict many artists have to face is what fuels Sell Out. Every time we play it, I can feel the tension between two opposites. It confronts a contradicting reality - authenticity against fakeness, aggression against vulnerability, fulfillment against repression. We let it all out chaotically."

THE DODIES are a young garage rock duo from the southern desert of Israel. Yoni Avittan fronts the band as lead vocalist and guitarist, as Ran Aronson sings backing vocals while simultaneously playing bass lines on keyboard with one hand and playing the entire drum kit with the other.

In February 2020, THE DODIES premiered their whimsical video for single "Boiling Point" (watch it here: youtu.be/muHmssD1vPE) from their upcoming debut album It’s One Hell of a Ride due out on April 24, 2020. "I was called in to co-produce a demo they were recording at a studio in Texas, end of 2018. I was blown away - great songwriters, performers, and lots of personality. Yoni (guitars/vocals) is a poetic uncompromising artist. Ran (drums/keys/backing vocals) plays the entire kit with his right arm while simultaneously playing bass on a synth with his left hand, and singing backing vocals, and does it effortlessly. Together they're a sight to be seen" says Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal.

Thal adds, "They put very high importance on integrity, everything being authentic in expressing who they are, I respect that a lot. My role was to make that happen. I flew out to them to record the full album. We recorded the music at a local studio, then recorded vocals and extras (tambourine, foot stomps, kicking rattling amps...) at Ran's house (I brought over mics and an interface). We did it all with no click track, no re-amping, no drum triggers, no auto-tune - just the two of them playing together, capturing the spirit, on their gear, everything in just a first or second take. We worked as a team the following months mixing, tweaking, obsessing over details until it was ready. I can truly say, I can't remember the last time I've felt so much heart and had so much fun producing a band, I want to see these guys go on to have a great future, and am grateful to be here at the start of it all."

Icelandic black metal duo HELFRÓ are now premiering their self-titled debut album in full via Black Metal Promotion. The entire record can be heard ahead of this Friday's release.

PUPPY RELEASE "POWDER BLUE" VIDEO FROM iii EP

THE CLIP IS A REMINDER OF METAL'S COLLECTIVE SPIRIT IN CUT-OFF TIMES

Last year, Puppy put together an ambitious treatment for a music video to accompany "Powder Blue," a song from their new iii EP.

It involved a shedload of pyro, stage props, and lighting, with Puppy performing a killer heavy metal gig to a huge crowd. You know, the kind they had "watched on MTV as kids."

Long story short, in the build up to the shoot, everything went to shit.

And without planning it that way, Puppy ended up being filmed playing a "socially distanced show" to an empty room.

The resulting video presents itself as a heartwarming reminder of why we all do this heavy metal lark — reflecting honestly on being a band in a quarantined world.

"'Powder Blue' is the first song on our last EP, iii. We called it that because it was our third EP, and because there are three of us in the band. For whatever reason, triptychs, triplets, three-pieces, and trilogies felt quite important to us at that point," says the band. "The whole idea with the songs on iii was that they should sound like what they are: three people in a room together, with little-to-no over-dubs, add-ons, or studio wizardry. It's fitting then that, because of world events, the video ended up mirroring this concept in its simplicity."

Puppy continues, "We had a lot of ambitious ideas for this video going into it, and for many reasons these didn't exactly play out how we'd hoped. But we like this video now precisely because of its limitations; because, like the EP, it's a record of three people coming together to try and make something bigger than the sum of their parts. The fact that we failed miserably doesn't seem to matter as much now."

iii was recorded in Hackney's largely analogue Holy Mountain Studios, around the corner from the rehearsal space where Puppy first started making music together, with producer Misha Hering.

THE DEAD DAISIES BAND RELEASES NEW SONG "UNSPOKEN" FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM HOLY GROUND

THE DEAD DAISIES have unleashed their first track "UNSPOKEN" off the forthcoming new studio album Holy Ground.

With tours and releases around the world being postponed due to current global issues, the band felt that with such an amazing album waiting in the wings, it needed to get some new music out.

As Glenn Hughes has said for decades, "Love is the answer and music is the healer, let's rock 'n' roll together."

With Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Hughes joining the band, it's now a leaner four-piece outfit that has brought a new urgency and vigor to their overall sound and vibe. Hughes' primal rhythms, Deen Castronovo's equal parts rage and prowess on the drums, the powerful and complimentary fretwork of guitar virtuoso Doug Aldrich, and the solid rhythm guitar foundation of David Lowy has elevated the band up there alongside the pantheon of legendary rock acts.

"When we started the new record with Glenn, we knew we had something very special. I'm so proud of this record, more than a lot of others I've played on in the past! Glenn along with Doug and David created magic on this. We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we did recording it," says Castronovo.

Producer Ben Grosse (Dream Theater, Marilyn Manson, Sevendust) captured the super-charged and explosive energy of the band at Studios La Fabrique in the South of France, and delivered a track with a fistful of swagger, strong hooks, and muscular vocals.

"This was one of the first songs we jammed on at Sunset Sound in Hollywood and then reworked it slightly in France, where we all hit it fresh with the benefit of a few months distance. In that process, David, Ben, everyone pursued ideas to give it a bit more of a Daisies vibe, with Glenn’s vision guiding it to a place where it has become an instant classic," explains Aldrich.

Mr Strangler Trilogy is a 3 album concept about a fictional serial killer, Mr Strangler, and his crew.

The Ogre Inside - Act I :
The Ogre Inside is an album about inner struggle, about dark desires, and how society can oppress your will. This album is about Mr Strangler's childhood. How he discovered his dark desires, tried to hide them and fight against them. This is a fight no one can win. This fight creates the feeling of being devoured on the inside, by an insatiable Ogre. The Ogre that devours you from the inside always wins. We have all experienced this kind of feeling. The album is an invocation, a way to set the Ogre free, embrace your ”true self" and allow your darkest desires to express themselves. It's an incitement to act. The Ogre Inside won this inner struggle, giving birth to Mr Strangler.

The Darkest of Human Desires – Act II
In the second opus, Mr Strangler, by embracing his "true self ", expresses his dark impulses without limitations and has no boundaries. With his crew, Mr Strangler commits murders and massacres. He also invites everyone to make a step forward and act, invites you to express your darkest desires and join his death cult. For Mr Strangler and his team, the Ogre was released. They let the darkest of human desires be : murder.

No Monsters in God's Eyes – Act III
In this final act, Mr Strangler's bloody odyssey comes to an end. He is in jail awaiting execution. This final Act is his testament. Faced with the imminent end of his life, he takes stock of his life and begins a dialogue with his death and enjoins everyone to continue his work... the work of God, because if God exists everything is his. And even the worst monsters are the children of God. There is no monsters in God's eyes.

Just after he died, Mr Strangler became a kind of messiah for an enigmatic community : The Strangelings , led by The Guide. Growing and growing, this community travels from town to town, joined by people fleeing the modern world for a new life.

After collaborating with Tom Baker (responsible for the masterings of legendary albums like Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar, NIN's Downward Spiral, Ministry's Psalm 69 or Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe...), PORN gave Brian Lucey (Magic Garden Studio in Los Angeles)the task of mastering this album. Lucey previously worked with Ghost, Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode, Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood and more.

PORN is refining his musical style that he calls Murder Rock and is pleased to quote The Cure (from which the group gets its name), David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Type O negative, Tool, Nine Inch nails …

Australian guitarist and singer/songwriter Robert Gaylard brings a unique perspective and vision when it comes to creating music. His inspiration and passion for starting The Nomadic began early on as a child after traveling to many countries like Myanmar (formerly Burma), Singapore and the Solomon Islands. His “nomadic” lifestyle continued on into his adulthood when he began to work for the United Nations in various countries such as: Kenya, Somalia, the Sudan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Israel and Palestine. His travels eventually brought him to New York in September of 2012 and motivated him to pursue his songwriting by establishing an indie rock band.

In the year 2019, Rob took a one year leave of absence from the UN to follow his musical passion and focus specifically on songwriting and live performance. The Nomadic released its debut single “Drifting” on the 2nd of September in 2019, and is set to release a series of songs including: “Waiting,” “Manhattan View,” “Walk the Streets,” “Beyond Blue,” “Grand Mistakes”and “Under a Georgia Sky.” Influenced by artists like Oasis, Coldplay, Radiohead, The Verveand Bruce Springsteen, The Nomadic produces a sound genre like no other as alternative rock meets blues with hints of Americana and pop.

The single “Waiting,” is about the concept of waiting around for people or something in general at airports, rail stations, ports, cafes, restaurants, and bars. Human beings always seem to be biding time for someone in one way or another, or waiting for their true potential and selves to be realized. Whether that hanging around involves waiting for someone to arrive at a destination or simply to make a decision about a situation. While we spend most of our time waiting on things to happen we are also discovering who our true selves are and what our actual potential is as well as how to achieve it. "Waiting" is a tribute to the magic of New York and it's “LIC port,” “Prospect Park,” “Grand Central Clock and Information Booth” and “rail tracks with a New York view.”

“This is one of the heavier songs from Semaphore, and features a riff we've been tinkering with since touring Yugen. We're experimenting on this record with pushing our boundaries both in terms of melody and technicality, and Death From Above is an example of one of the more progressive metal-influenced songs on the album.

Lyrically it's inspired by the amazing work of Richard Morgan and his Takeshi Kovacs series, he's one of my favourite SF writers. The song is about the winged, raptor-like Martians that feature in his books (and more recently Altered Carbon on Netflix), and the technology they left behind. I especially love the middle section, it's so much fun to sing over that dreamy, ambient landscape. Then Dave and Billy lock in with their syncopated rhythm and it's an awesome moment. We can't wait to see the crowd reaction when we play this one live.”

HEILUNG Release New Music Video for Song, "Norupo"

Enigmatic collective HEILUNG have shared their first ever music video for the song "Norupo," which is taken from 2019's critically-acclaimed release, 'Futha!' The video was shot at the Neolithic standing stones at Les Menhirs de Monteneuf in France.

Norupo is composed around the ancient runic poem with the name ”The Norwegian Rune Poem”. The poem was preserved in a 17th-century copy of a now lost 13th-century manuscript and gives a complete description of all sixteen runes of the younger Futhark.

Following an extremely successful first ever tour of North America, in which every venue sold out, enigmatic pagan collective HEILUNG are returning to the states for one spectacular evening! The Danish formation will be bringing their mesmerizing ritual to the historic, century-old Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, CO on October 6. Frontman Vincent "Jake" Jones says about the track:

"Sometimes you write a song because it’s the song you want to hear, but sometimes you write a song because it’s the song you need.

I wound up living on a couch most of the time this album was being put together. For a lot of that time, it was uncertain whether I was on the “right” path – whether I was wasting my friends' and my own time pursuing music as hard as we were. One night I was feeling particularly down, and I just started writing the things I wished someone would say to me in that moment. I felt a little better afterwards. “We are not alone.” In a nation full of young people feeling increasingly isolated and hopeless, it’s a powerful message. It’s also the driving force behind Columbus, Ohio-based band Pray For Sleep, who aims to be a positive influence in the hard rock genre. Today, the on-the-rise band announces a series of activities for May to promote mental health awareness month.

On May 1, Pray For Sleep will self-issue the digital release of their debut album, Behind Our Eyes, which aims to bolster a generation racked by anxiety, depression and suicide with a message of solidarity and a cathartic roar on 10 powerful songs. The digital release features two unreleased tracks—“Blood Is Not Blue” and “Off Track”—as well as a new acoustic version of anchor single “Scream Back.”

“Scream Back” shares the name with the group’s initiative addressing mental health issues plaguing the nation’s youth. Established in November 2019, the Scream Back program aligns the band members—vocalist Grant DeCrane, 23; drummer Reno Houston, 20; and guitarist Hayden Kissler, 19—with the educational messaging of Nationwide Children's Hospital's On Our Sleeves™ movement, as well as Columbus’ active rock radio station 99.7 The Blitz (WRKZ) and SJC Custom Drums.

Scream Back largely utilizes in-school appearances to deliver peer messaging and personal stories that challenge fellow young people to have an open dialogue about mental health. In addition to contributing all proceeds from their first headlining show to On Our Sleeves™, Pray For Sleep also submitted their lyrics to the hospital’s mental health experts for their input prior to the release.

Next month, Pray For Sleep will also perform “Scream Back” as part of the annual “We Are The Majority Rally” that brings thousands of young people together to promote the idea that most youth choose not to do drugs and instead are making responsible decisions. For the first time this year, the statewide Ohio rally will go virtual and invites youth across the country to participate. It will be held as part of National Prevention Week on May 15 at 5:00 pm ET, hosted by the Prevention Action Alliance with support from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services as well as the Ohio Governor’s Office. Of the digital release for Behind Our Eyes, drummer Reno Houston says, "We know that everyone has been stuck inside and could be dealing with mental health issues (like all of us in the band), and we hope that releasing these songs will let people know that ‘We Are Not Alone.’ This is especially important with the COVID-19 situation and May being Mental Behavioral Health month. We hope people know there are resources out there and hopefully we can help shine some light on a dark situation.”

Adds vocalist Grant DeCrane, "We're so excited to be able to release the album in its entirety. We want people to hear the whole message, and we want to know what people think of the project. We started working on it a year-and-a-half ago so it’s wonderful to finally see it all come together after so much work and time."

Behind Our Eyes marks the band’s debut album and is a follow-up to their self-titled EP in 2017 that followed a whirlwind of events, which led to the band’s formation. That same year, rock band Papa Roach had invited Columbus’ Olentangy Orange High School Marching Band to be part of Papa Roach’s performance of hit single “Born For Greatness”at the Rock On The Range festival. Hayden Kissler was one of the marching band members who got the chance to be on stage for the performance. Soon after, he and friends Reno Houston and Grant DeCrane started Pray For Sleep.

The band returned to the Rock On The Range stage in 2018 where they hand one of their earliest performances, with several members missing out on their high school graduation to participate in the memorable moment. After spending their teenage years finding solace in heavy music, shouting along with bands like fellow Ohioans Beartooth as well as Bring Me The Horizon, Pray For Sleep has since shared the stage with We Came As Romans, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Silent Planet, Fit For A King, and Counterfeit.
