"Our new song "Feels Bad Man" is one of the most unique Dance Gavin Dance tracks off of Jackpot Juicer. The instruments for this song were heavily influenced by the current tone of today’s popular songs mixed with some DGD flair. The music video is reminiscent of the 90’s era when we were all coming of age. We as a band have never taken ourselves too seriously and try to reflect that in all our music videos, including this one. Hope you all enjoy."

Dance Gavin Dance announced the release of their brand new album, 'Jackpot Juicer', back in April. The three previous singles, “Synergy” feat. Rob Damiani of Don Broco, “Pop Off”, "Die Another Day" and "Cream of The Crop" have clocked up11.5 million streams and 3.5 million YouTube views since release. 'Jackpot Juicer' follows Dance Gavin Dance's enormously successful 2020 release, ‘Afterburner,’ which topped charts and debuted at #14 on the Billboard Top 200 with a digital only release. 'Jackpot Juicer' will be released on July 29th via Rise Records. Pre-Order bundles were launched the same day and saw a sell-out of 7 different vinyl variants already.

Dance Gavin Dance kicked off their 'Evening With Friends Tour' on Tuesday this week at the infamous Whisky A Go-Go on LA's Sunset Strip, which sold out within 3 minutes of going on sale. The special run of dates provides fans with a unique Dance Gavin Dance line-up. Guitarist Andrew Wells will be taking center stage to take over clean singing duties, Marc Okubo of Veil of Maya will be stepping in to cover Andrew’s guitar duties and the band will be joined by former Dance Gavin Dance frontman and frontman of Royal Coda, Kurt Travis, for select songs. London-based alt-rock / metal artist Grace Solero presents 'Love and Addiction', featured on their new 'Metamorphosis, a power-packed labour of love that is raw, grungy, dreamy and atmospheric all at the same time.

"Love and Addiction is a powerful representation of love in all forms and across all genres. It's an intense journey bridging unruly passion and the yearning for clarity and stability," says Grace Solero.

"When I came up with the first few lines of the melody and a few lyrics of the verse it was clear enough that a dark broody Pandora's box had been opened. I felt like a surge of thick honey was running through my throat."

High energy and highly dynamic, Solero's mercurial voice is of astounding range and a powerful stage presence. Conveying deep emotions with alternating darkness and light, her songwriting shies away from the ordinary. Sonically, apart from their guitar-based sound, the band also uses less conventional instruments, such as the cello, Hammond B3 organ, psaltery and even singing bowls.

Mixed by Chris Brown (Radiohead, Muse, Ride, INXS, Gary Moore, The Waterboys) and, this 9-track offering was mastered by Andy 'Hippy' Baldwin (The Who, Interpol, Oasis, Blur, UB40, Stormzy) at London's Metropolis Studio.

Recorded and engineered by Jon Clayton (The Monochrome Set, Vic Godard And Subway Sect) at One Cat Studio in London, the band members themselves arranged and produced this collection. Solero is accompanied by Californian lead guitarist / vocalist Dan Beaulaurier, Swedish bassist Bjorn Zetterlund and Welsh multi-instrumentalist Dave Guy on drums and percussion.

Not long ago, the band previewed the title track 'Metamorphosis' on the trail of super-charged melodic singles 'Orange Sky', 'Awake' and 'Lucid Dream', the latter of which has recently gained support via BBC 6 Music.

"This album represents a turning point, the need to break free from things that kept us stuck in the past. It’s a deep journey through the transformative power of love leading to emotional freedom. Each song’s emotion feeds the next song and creates a beautiful soundscape. From yearning to change, from unhealthy passion to mystical love, from emotional apocalypse to taking risks, from melancholy to healing and being reborn," says Grace Solero.

Earlier albums ‘New Moon’ (2009), ‘Hundred Years Apart’ (2013) and 'Awake’ (2018) garnered support from BBC Radio 6, XFM, BBC London, and magazines such as Classic Rock, Guitar Techniques, Powerplay Magazine, Sonic Shocks, and Sonic Cathedral.

Solero's performances are highly dynamic and energetic, both sonically and visually. They've performed everywhere from intimate clubs to large stages in Europe, USA and Canada, supporting the likes of Motorhead's Phil Campbell, Alan Merrill (famed songwriter of the Joan Jett hit ‘I Love Rock ’n’ Roll’) , Bernie Torme and Arthur Brown.

Grace collaborates on The Twilight Zone, a new project with Dan Beaulaurier and legendary pedal steel player BJ Cole (Elton John, Cat Stevens, Bjork, R.E.M). She also co-writes and performs with The Vibrators’ Knox and Mariangela Demurtas (Tristania), and has performed alongside Slade’s Noddy Holder, co-starring in a musical production of Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ at London's Union Chapel.

Israel born and LA based heavy rock artist OHP (OREN HALMUT) has dipped into broader pop-culture with his newest #metalcover of the KATE BUSH single, "Running Up That Hill." Having taken US pop fans by storm, the Hounds of Love single is reinterpreted by the enigmatic metal madman, moving fast from pop-poetic to guitar driven brutality.

Oren started his musical endeavor at the young age of nine in Tel-Aviv Israel. After playing and recording with numerous artists in his home town, he relocated to California in early 2000. Since then, he has been a prominent musical figure in Los Angeles, across the west coast and the nation. He owns H2O studios in North Hollywood, where he works as a producer, drummer and guitar player depending on the needs of each individual project. In 2016 oren started the “ohp metal” channel on youtube which features weekly metal covers of popular songs ranging from pop ,country, hip hop and RnB .The channel has gained over 10000 subscribers and growing weekly.

Since its formation in 2015 in Baltimore, Maryland, WORMHOLE has been spearheading the tech slam movement, introducing strong melodies, technical prowess, and virtuosity to hard-hitting brutal death metal. In October 2015, and in 2016 WORMHOLE released their aptly titled debut album “Genesis” on Lacerated Enemy Records.

With influences drawn from Necrophagist, Abominable Putridity, and Beyond Creation, WORMHOLE has been described as “monumental” and “monstrous”, with “ferocious slams” that “bludgeon listeners senseless”.

In December 2017, WORMHOLE made their incendiary live debut. In 2018, they partnered with Vulvodynia on a tour of Europe, and in 2019 joined the infamous yearly Tech Trek tour with death metal giants ARCHSPIRE, INFERI, and VIRVUM.

“The Weakest Among Us”, released in January 2020, WORMHOLE is bridging the gap between brutality and virtuosity and pushing the boundaries of what a death metal band can be.

OBSIDIOUS Reveals New Song "Devotion," Launches Album Pre-Sales

Modern progressive metal outfit OBSIDIOUS is now officially launching the pre-sales for their previously announced debut full-length, 'Iconic,' which is due on October 28 via Season of Mist! In conjunction with the album sales start, the band is now revealing a brand new single, "Devotion," along with a full band play-through video! The clip is available at THIS LOCATION.

OBSIDIOUS comments: "This song is about cults, basing the story on one of the most controversial cases of the late 1970s. In this song there are two distinct voices that reflect the character of each of the protagonists: the raspy voice of the cult leader and the melodic, desperate voice of the follower trying to flee the place.”

Modern metallers Obsidious launch their wonderfully intricate and musically-accomplished new album, Iconic, via Season of Mist. The group—featuring Linus Klausenitzer (bass), Rafael Trujillo (guitars), Sebastian Lanser (drums), and vocalist Javi Perera (vocals)—come from distinguished and lettered origins in Obscura, Alkaloid, Eternity’s End, and Juggernaut. Obsidious, however, are a different creature entirely. Iconic is technical but not officious. The album breathes intensity but expands upon it with mellifluent dexterity. With Obsidious, there’s always a hook. The early release of and positive feedback from video singles “Under Black Skies,” “Sense of Lust,” and the title track illustrates these qualities well. Iconic builds upon a prestigious foundation, but its vision isn’t restricted to its tenets.

“We consider ourselves the modern evolution of progressive and technical metal,” bassist Linus Klausenitzer says. “To name a few bands: Dream Theater, Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me, Protest the Hero, Periphery, and Haken. As such, our music asks for many different moods and vibes. Javi’s vocals reinforce that idea, adding meaning and drama to it. While we still work as session musicians, Obsidious is now our main priority.”

Obsidious crystallized after Klausenitzer, Trujillo, and Lanser departed amicably from fellow German tech-metallers Obscura in 2020. Named after black volcanic glass, the group’s moniker exudes something dark, of fiery origin, in a state of final transformation. Metaphorically, the name Obsidious offers a nearly limitless platform for expression and advancement. However, it was only when the trio brought on newcomer Perera—whose growls and full-toned voice are first-rate—were the multi-national outfit officially codified. Interestingly enough, the newly-joined frontman couldn’t even meet his bandmates while the band wrote, recorded, and filmed videos for Iconic due to the pandemic. Yet, the technologically-apt foursome made it work.

Iconic is an album of manifold extremes. “Sense of Lust,” “I Am,” and “Devotion,” for example, pivot on heavy rhythmic axes, their intense grooves seamlessly unifying with ample doses of atmospheric dissonance. “Under Black Skies,” “Delusion,” and the title track, on the other hand, are nimbly expeditious, with Perera’s considerable vocal talents complementing Trujillo, Klausenitzer, and Lanser’s angularly-involved, smartly-experimental songcraft. As for “Iron Dust,” “Lake of Afterlife,” and the massive chorus in the ferocious “Bound by Fire,” they offer a more straightforward (yet ebullient) musical and aesthetic posture. Throughout Iconic, Obsidious impress with their artistic inventiveness and creative expanse.

“Seventy-five percent of the band members were part of Obscura, so we knew what most of our fans like and what they don’t,” says Klausenitzer. “When we decided to integrate clean vocals, we knew that the reactions would be controversial. But we like to push the boundaries. We don’t like to stand still musically—we want to add something fresh to metal. This is why this band is so special for some listeners already.”

Lyrically, Perera tackles human-relatable topics throughout Iconic. While his modern metal peers abstractly traverse the vagaries of the universe, the singer hits home where and when it matters. Disaster in any form is trauma-inducing, and this is at the heart of Under Black Skies, where a tremendous yet preventable calamity descends on a petty yet desperate populace. BDSM, an uncommon topic in metaldom, carries through “Sense of Lust.” Here, sex and the power of and subsequent joy by the submissive are explored. The title track, “Iconic,” discusses dementia. Perera’s profession outside of Obsidious is in healthcare, and he’s seen firsthand how the mental disorder traps and torments. Iconic is a showcase in multiplicity.

“This album does not have a concept per se in terms of lyrics or an underlying storyline,” vocalist Javi Perera says. “The songs on this album touch on subjects of diverse nature, and there are even some songs that narrate personal experiences. But what I can consider as a common denominator in the album is the absence of constraints on a compositional or stylistic level, allowing us the freedom to shift between different musical genres as long as the song requires it. I always consider that we, as artists and musicians, are at the service of the music and not the other way around.”

Extensive pre-production aided in Obsidious handling a pandemic-era recording process for Iconic. For the official sessions, the group spread out parts to several different studios. Firstly, Lanser kicked Iconic into gear by recording drums at Lanser Studios in Salzburg, Austria. The rest of Obsidious holed up in Woodshed Studios in Fürth, Germany, where producer V. Santura (Triptykon, Obscura) tracked guitars, bass, vocals, synths, and sound effects. Vocal overdubs and additional soundscaping were taken to TheRedHouse Studio in Cambridge, England. Obsidious then handed the finalized pieces back to V. Santura to mix and master. Even though Iconic was a non-linear undertaking, it sounds absolutely monumental.

“The pre-production was very professional,” says Klausenitzer. “So, we already had an idea of what we wanted the songs to sound like—we had a specific sonic goal in mind. We had already worked with V. Santura before, so we knew what to expect in that regard. The recording sessions were, if anything, straightforward. When V. Santura completed the final master, we knew we had created something unique and special—the Obsidious sound!”

Obisidious are ready to deploy their unique brand of hooky neoteric metal on Iconic. From Trujillo’s wickedly clever riffs and Lanser’s artful drumming to Klausenitzer’s superb counterpoint and Perera’s soaring vocals/venomous spits, songs like “Under Black Skies,” “Iconic,” “Bound by Fire,” and “Nowhere” brim with cool calculation and aggressive spontaneity. They storm normality not only musically and lyrically. The monolithic cover piece by French graphic artist Adrien Bousson (Rotting Christ, Khonsu) also transcends convention. Burden of the Sky released the official music video for their single "The Flood." The band will be touring on Sevendust’s “Animosity Tour” in September of 2022.

"When we began writing 'The Flood' we were in a dark headspace. We were angry and mournful after the passing of our guitarist and founding member Bradford Shaw. Our only goal was to write a song that we could pour our soul and emotions into in honor of our fallen brother. Once we had a demo put together, we reached out to Blake (SAUL) and Morgan (Sevendust) and told them our story. We asked them to contribute their own experiences and emotions to the song and the result was better than we could have ever asked for," says Scottie James.

He adds, “'The Flood' is symbolic of all of the struggles in life, our demons that try to bring us down and swallow us whole; the ever-looming darkness and misery that is held back by our own will that inevitably will come crashing through the second we let our guard down. This song is our way of saying we will stand our ground — strong, fierce, and determined — in solidarity against anything life throws our way; even though we know we cannot win, we will fight for what we believe in until our last breath."

Burden of the Sky is an alternative metal band hailing from Bloomington, IL. Formed in 2012 by Josh Appel and the late Brad Shaw, the band has built itself as one of the most well known bands in the Midwest. Led by lead singer Scottie James and guitarist Josh Appel, the band has performed across the Midwest and beyond with many of today’s hottest active rock bands. Chicago-based death metal quintet WARFORGED are back with the second single from their upcoming album, 'The Grove | Sundial'. The band has partnered with Metal Sucksto premiere the music video for "Sheridan Road".

One of Nashville’s most beloved caterers, Johnny Haffner, has selected The Heimerdinger Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing nutrient-rich meals and education, free of charge, for families facing cancer, as his 2022 nonprofit Porch Party partner. The fundraising series, benefitting the nonprofit’s signature Meals 4 Health and Healing program, kicked off last Friday at Haffner’s home in Greenhills with a sold out evening.

Each Porch Party includes a complimentary “welcome wine,” appetizers, and a gourmet five-course meal beautifully plated and featuring a seasonal ingredient. All Porch Parties will be on Friday evenings and start at 7:30 pm with dinner served at 8:00 pm. The table will be set with attention to detail under the candlelit chandeliers on Johnny’s covered, outdoor porch overlooking the garden of his home.

Tickets are $200 per person ($125 tax deductible). UBER/LYFT is strongly encouraged as there is limited parking. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite bottle of wine to drink. Meals 4 Health and Healing is a heart-centered, caring community preparing organic, immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory meals free of charge for cancer patients undergoing cancer treatment and their caregivers. Since 2013, the nonprofit has served over 137,000 meals to hundreds of clients and their caregivers in Williamson and Davidson Counties.

Research shows that nearly 80% of cancer patients end up malnourished as a result of cancer treatment. Consuming nourishing meals can make a vital difference to cancer patients as they fight their illness and heal from treatment. With an emphasis on serving those who are in crisis, who have little or no caregiving support, or who are financially unable to provide themselves with nutritious foods, the program elevates the recovery process for many who may be at high risk for malnutrition, which can slow down or stop treatment.

In addition, with over 250 active teen and adult volunteers participating in their program each year, the organization educates those volunteers about eating a “whole food” diet to reduce inflammation and to reduce the likelihood of chronic, inflammatory conditions like cancer. By educating patients, their families, and the adult and teen volunteers who provide the giving hands and hearts behind the organization’s mission, the eight-person team at The Heimerdinger Foundation is transforming the health and nutritional choices of countless people in middle Tennessee.

VREID Announces 'In the Mountains of Sognametal' Livestream Concert

Norwegian metal veterans VREID have announced a unique, free livestream event, 'In the Mountains of Sognametal.' With the world at a standstill and all shows for 2020 cancelled, VREID decided to open the gates and invite you all to their home mountains on the west coast of Norway. The band's history reaches back to the mid 90s and this will be a journey through their musical history with a live session against a spectacular natural backdrop. The stream will be available on Season of Mist and VREID Facebook pages on Saturday, June 13 at 12:00 P.M. PDT // 3:00 P.M. EDT.

Earlier this year, VREID announced their participation in the prestigious "Songs That Changed the World" project. The band were commissioned by the Nobel Peace Center and Inferno Metal Festival to interpret and cover a song about freedom of expression. The event was slated to take place at the Nobel Peace Center on April 7, 2020, but has been postponed due to the pandemic. The new date is TBD.

VREID were formed in 2004. The Norwegian metal brigade rose from the ashes of WINDIR after the tragic perishing of the "Sognametal" legends with the declared mission of exploring new musical paths.
 
The Norsemen proved true to their words and have so far delivered 7 albums and one DVD, which each received high praise from critics and fans alike. VREID chose a course of constant evolution that is marked by thematically denoted phases regarding their often historically inspired lyrics.
