OBSIDIOUS Reveals New Song "Devotion," Launches Album Pre-Sales

Modern progressive metal outfit OBSIDIOUS is now officially launching the pre-sales for their previously announced debut full-length, 'Iconic,' which is due on October 28 via Season of Mist! OBSIDIOUS comments: "This song is about cults, basing the story on one of the most controversial cases of the late 1970s. In this song there are two distinct voices that reflect the character of each of the protagonists: the raspy voice of the cult leader and the melodic, desperate voice of the follower trying to flee the place.”

Modern metallers Obsidious launch their wonderfully intricate and musically-accomplished new album, Iconic, via Season of Mist. The group—featuring Linus Klausenitzer (bass), Rafael Trujillo (guitars), Sebastian Lanser (drums), and vocalist Javi Perera (vocals)—come from distinguished and lettered origins in Obscura, Alkaloid, Eternity’s End, and Juggernaut. Obsidious, however, are a different creature entirely. Iconic is technical but not officious. The album breathes intensity but expands upon it with mellifluent dexterity. With Obsidious, there’s always a hook. The early release of and positive feedback from video singles “Under Black Skies,” “Sense of Lust,” and the title track illustrates these qualities well. Iconic builds upon a prestigious foundation, but its vision isn’t restricted to its tenets.

“We consider ourselves the modern evolution of progressive and technical metal,” bassist Linus Klausenitzer says. “To name a few bands: Dream Theater, Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me, Protest the Hero, Periphery, and Haken. As such, our music asks for many different moods and vibes. Javi’s vocals reinforce that idea, adding meaning and drama to it. While we still work as session musicians, Obsidious is now our main priority.”

Obsidious crystallized after Klausenitzer, Trujillo, and Lanser departed amicably from fellow German tech-metallers Obscura in 2020. Named after black volcanic glass, the group’s moniker exudes something dark, of fiery origin, in a state of final transformation. Metaphorically, the name Obsidious offers a nearly limitless platform for expression and advancement. However, it was only when the trio brought on newcomer Perera—whose growls and full-toned voice are first-rate—were the multi-national outfit officially codified. Interestingly enough, the newly-joined frontman couldn’t even meet his bandmates while the band wrote, recorded, and filmed videos for Iconic due to the pandemic. Yet, the technologically-apt foursome made it work.

Iconic is an album of manifold extremes. “Sense of Lust,” “I Am,” and “Devotion,” for example, pivot on heavy rhythmic axes, their intense grooves seamlessly unifying with ample doses of atmospheric dissonance. “Under Black Skies,” “Delusion,” and the title track, on the other hand, are nimbly expeditious, with Perera’s considerable vocal talents complementing Trujillo, Klausenitzer, and Lanser’s angularly-involved, smartly-experimental songcraft. As for “Iron Dust,” “Lake of Afterlife,” and the massive chorus in the ferocious “Bound by Fire,” they offer a more straightforward (yet ebullient) musical and aesthetic posture. Throughout Iconic, Obsidious impress with their artistic inventiveness and creative expanse.

“Seventy-five percent of the band members were part of Obscura, so we knew what most of our fans like and what they don’t,” says Klausenitzer. “When we decided to integrate clean vocals, we knew that the reactions would be controversial. But we like to push the boundaries. We don’t like to stand still musically—we want to add something fresh to metal. This is why this band is so special for some listeners already.”

Lyrically, Perera tackles human-relatable topics throughout Iconic. While his modern metal peers abstractly traverse the vagaries of the universe, the singer hits home where and when it matters. Disaster in any form is trauma-inducing, and this is at the heart of Under Black Skies, where a tremendous yet preventable calamity descends on a petty yet desperate populace. BDSM, an uncommon topic in metaldom, carries through “Sense of Lust.” Here, sex and the power of and subsequent joy by the submissive are explored. The title track, “Iconic,” discusses dementia. Perera’s profession outside of Obsidious is in healthcare, and he’s seen firsthand how the mental disorder traps and torments. Iconic is a showcase in multiplicity.

“This album does not have a concept per se in terms of lyrics or an underlying storyline,” vocalist Javi Perera says. “The songs on this album touch on subjects of diverse nature, and there are even some songs that narrate personal experiences. But what I can consider as a common denominator in the album is the absence of constraints on a compositional or stylistic level, allowing us the freedom to shift between different musical genres as long as the song requires it. I always consider that we, as artists and musicians, are at the service of the music and not the other way around.”

Extensive pre-production aided in Obsidious handling a pandemic-era recording process for Iconic. For the official sessions, the group spread out parts to several different studios. Firstly, Lanser kicked Iconic into gear by recording drums at Lanser Studios in Salzburg, Austria. The rest of Obsidious holed up in Woodshed Studios in Fürth, Germany, where producer V. Santura (Triptykon, Obscura) tracked guitars, bass, vocals, synths, and sound effects. Vocal overdubs and additional soundscaping were taken to TheRedHouse Studio in Cambridge, England. Obsidious then handed the finalized pieces back to V. Santura to mix and master. Even though Iconic was a non-linear undertaking, it sounds absolutely monumental.

“The pre-production was very professional,” says Klausenitzer. “So, we already had an idea of what we wanted the songs to sound like—we had a specific sonic goal in mind. We had already worked with V. Santura before, so we knew what to expect in that regard. The recording sessions were, if anything, straightforward. When V. Santura completed the final master, we knew we had created something unique and special—the Obsidious sound!”

Obisidious are ready to deploy their unique brand of hooky neoteric metal on Iconic. From Trujillo’s wickedly clever riffs and Lanser’s artful drumming to Klausenitzer’s superb counterpoint and Perera’s soaring vocals/venomous spits, songs like “Under Black Skies,” “Iconic,” “Bound by Fire,” and “Nowhere” brim with cool calculation and aggressive spontaneity. They storm normality not only musically and lyrically. The monolithic cover piece by French graphic artist Adrien Bousson (Rotting Christ, Khonsu) also transcends convention. Obsidious are poised for a breakthrough on Iconic. Prepare for metal’s modern metamorphosis!

Burden of the Sky released the official music video for their single "The Flood." The band will be touring on Sevendust’s “Animosity Tour” in September of 2022.

"When we began writing 'The Flood' we were in a dark headspace. We were angry and mournful after the passing of our guitarist and founding member Bradford Shaw. Our only goal was to write a song that we could pour our soul and emotions into in honor of our fallen brother. Once we had a demo put together, we reached out to Blake (SAUL) and Morgan (Sevendust) and told them our story. We asked them to contribute their own experiences and emotions to the song and the result was better than we could have ever asked for," says Scottie James.

He adds, “'The Flood' is symbolic of all of the struggles in life, our demons that try to bring us down and swallow us whole; the ever-looming darkness and misery that is held back by our own will that inevitably will come crashing through the second we let our guard down. This song is our way of saying we will stand our ground — strong, fierce, and determined — in solidarity against anything life throws our way; even though we know we cannot win, we will fight for what we believe in until our last breath."

Burden of the Sky is an alternative metal band hailing from Bloomington, IL. Formed in 2012 by Josh Appel and the late Brad Shaw, the band has built itself as one of the most well known bands in the Midwest. Led by lead singer Scottie James and guitarist Josh Appel, the band has performed across the Midwest and beyond with many of today’s hottest active rock bands. Experts agree: Without Raven, neither thrash nor speed metal would exist in their current form. The British trio around the Gallagher brothers John (bass, vocals) and Mark(guitar) not only released some of the most important albums of the NWOBHM era, but they also had a lasting influence on an entire generation of musicians in the early 1980s. Much has changed since then, often either becoming vestigial or vanishing completely. Raven, however, have persevered, immortalizing themselves in the annals of music history with an imposing presence that continues up to this day. Not least through two studio albums that perfectly represent the recent works of the group: ‘ExtermiNation’(2015) and ‘Metal City’ (2020). To the great delight of their fans, Raven will be touring again in the foreseeable future – performing their new album ‘Leave ´Em Bleeding’,featuring the best of the past seven years plus some red-hot bonus tracks.

“In a way, this record is a retrospective on the past seven years, which were hugely important to us, even if they haven’t always been easy”, is how John Gallagher describes their songs ‘Top Of The Mountain’, ‘Metal City’, ‘The Power’, ‘Destroy All Monsters’ and ‘Battle March/Tank Treads’. The first three tracks mentioned are from ‘Metal City’, the following two from ‘ExtermiNation’. This glimpse into the past is rounded off by a live version of ‘Crash Bang Wallop’, found in its original version on the 2019 concert album ‘Screaming Murder Death From Above: Live...’, a special testimony to the boundless power of this band, which – in addition to the Gallagher brothers – is completed by drummer Mike Heller.

As a special gift to their large crowd of followers, Raven treats us to six bonus tracks one shouldn’t miss out on. It starts with ‘Necessary Evil’, one of the first three Raven songs after Mark Gallagher's serious accident in November 2001, when the guitarist was half-buried by a six-meter wall and had to undergo several surgeries to treat his severe injuries. Although the band was back on stage mere two years later, it wasn’t until 2009 that they could start working on their comeback album ‘Walk Through Fire’, with ‘Necessary Evil’ as its spectacular finale. Second bonus track is their Montrose number ‘Space Station #5’ (Mark Gallagher: “During the early years, we often ended our shows with this song”), followed by ‘Malice In Geordieland’, a superb outtake from the session for ‘ExtermiNation’. Second cover song on ‘Leave ´Em Bleeding’ is their Thin Lizzy number ‘Bad Reputation’. Gallagher comments: “We`ve always been total Lizzy fans. I`ve never seen them live, unfortunately, but their influence on us and many others is huge.”Rounding off the list of bonus tracks are ‘Rock This Town’ and ‘Stay Hard (Live)’; both come with exciting back stories. Gallagher: “’Rock This Town’ was produced by Michael Wagner in Nashville in March 2018 and features us as a trio live in the studio. The recording is just too powerful to have it sit in a drawer and collect dust. The live version of ‘Stay Hard’ is a 2017 recording from ‘The Vanguard’ in Tulsa, Oklahoma. An employee of the club recorded the show and gave it to us on a flash drive. We haven't played ‘Stay Hard’ too often, so in that sense the release is a little special.”

Six bonus tracks in perfect balance to the six “regular” songs, meaning twelve Ravenhighlights in total that leave you wanting more, especially regarding the concerts that will hopefully be taking place very soon!

RAGE Announce New EP 'Spreading The Plague'

German Power Metal band RAGE has come up with a special surprise for its followers to thank them for their loyalty and patience during the long wait enforced by the pandemic: In time for their major co-headlining tour alongside Brainstorm in October and November 2022 and as an appetizer for the things that await their fans, singer/bassist Peavy Wagner and his bandmates Jean Borman, Stefan Weber (both guitars) and Vassilios “Lucky” Maniatopoulos (drums) are set to launch their ‘Spreading The Plague’ EP, featuring three previously unreleased new songs as well as three exciting bonus tracks. ‘Spreading The Plague’ consists of the songs "To Live And To Die", "Spreading The Plague" and "The King Has Lost His Crown", all three from the production phase of Rage’s 2021 album ‘Resurrection Day’ and previously unreleased. Peavy explains: “These are numbers that we recorded at the same studio quality level as our ‘Resurrection Day’ material but have deliberately held back until now to have something special up our sleeve for our fans when we’ll be able to tour again at last.” ‘Resurrection Day’ was a major success for Rage: The album scored high chart positions in a number of countries in September 2021, such as number 14 in Germany, number 12 in Japan, number 38 in Switzerland, and a more than impressive number 46 and 81 in the US and Canada, respectively.

The new EP is complemented by three bonus tracks: ‘A New Land’ is a new unplugged version; ‘The Price Of War 2.0.’ was first released a few months ago as a digital single, including a video clip to introduce new band members Jean Borman and Stefan Weber, but has not yet been available on any physical record, same as the Rage classic ‘Straight To Hell’, a live stream from the Balve Cave venue in July 2020.

So there are plenty of exciting things in the offing: a new EP (complete with exciting cover artwork courtesy of Karim König, who has also designed ‘The Devil Strikes Back’ and ‘Seasons Of The Black’, among others) as well as a big European tour in October / November 2022. It’s safe to say that Rage fans have plenty to look forward to...

SILENT THEORY Release Official Music Video for Acoustic Version of “Livin’ The Dream"!

Idaho Heavy Rock Band Silent Theory has revealed the official music video for "Livin' The Dream," off of their new collection of acoustic renditions of their several of their previous singles, Theoretically Speaking: The Acoustic Sessions Vol. 1. Directed by Jon Kuritz from Make Waves Entertainment, "Livin' The Dream" is originally off of the band's 2011 released Black Tie Affair.

Often lost in the past two years of the coronavirus pandemic aware of the nuances that ‘normal’ life brings. Trials, traumas, loves, and losses were all still present, even if ignored.

This is something that New Jersey rock outfit Palisades are all too familiar with, the band – vocalist/bassist Brandon Elgar, guitarists Xavier Adames and Matthew Marshall, and drummer Aaron Rosa – having been forced to contend with everything from line-up changes to the death of loved ones, all the while trying to record a new album amidst the most uncertain period the music industry has ever faced.

Their efforts and struggles have not been in vain. Palisades’ superb new album, Reaching Hypercritical, is due for release on Friday, July 2022 via their long-time home Rise Records. The band – whose worldwide streams now approaching 300 million – broke the Billboard 200 with their last LP, 2018’s Erase the Pain, while also scoring the #1 Independent, Top New Artist and Alternative New Artist album. With their strongest and most ambitious record yet now ready for the world, Palisades look set to further build upon their past efforts and appearances at festivals including Louder Than Life, Reading and Leeds, Download and Rock am Ring by reinforcing their status as one of rock’s most necessarily innovative and purposeful artists.

“It’s a been a pretty drastic progression musically,” drummer Aaron Rosa notes of Reaching Hypercritical. “This album really captures how the band has matured while being brutally honest with ourselves about all the tough moments that were going through our heads while making the record. Reaching Hypercritical is a true demonstration of how the past few years have changed us as people, as a band and what Palisades’ music stands for.”

Some of that change derives from the band’s recent line-up shift, which saw frontman Lou Miceli exit and vocalist/bassist Brandon Elgar step up on sole vocals. The move has allowed Palisades to hone in on their new frontman's passion, swagger, and raw talent, whose cathartic presence is the perfect muse for their emotive songs.

“The sheer talent and unique style Brandon brings to being a frontman really elevates our music,” guitarist Matthew Marshall comments. “His melodies, lyrics and his flair makes all of us continue to push ourselves and that was ideal for what we wanted to achieve with Reaching Hypercritical. A new beginning for Palisades.”

While the atmosphere within the band is currently one of excitement and promise, the rocky path Palisades has had to traverse in order to create Reaching Hypercritical is reflected in the solemn, introspective, and often very dark outlook of the music. Mental illness and divorce are two heavy topics that rear their head on the record, while Aaron took the opportunity on Reaching Hypercritical to open up about the death of his father, who passed away during the writing of Palisades’ new LP.

“In terms of both our mental health and our career, it very much felt like we were reaching a hypercritical point,” he says of the band’s recent experiences. “You have all of the uncertainty that was brought on by a pandemic while life continues to do what it does. My father was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer and died two months later. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with, and in the middle of that, we were still trying to write a record. That moment in my life and some of the traumatic experiences of the other guys in the band really shaped this record. Ultimately, it altered the entire tone of the record and truly what the songs meant.”

From the raw emotion of “Fray” – which features a heart-breaking voice message from Aaron’s father – to the anthemic modern rock punch of the album’s first single “Better,” Reaching Hypercritical is doused in passion, intensity, and ambition. It’s the kind of record whose songs belong on the biggest platforms, as massive choruses collide with the kind of lyrical honesty and intelligence that will connect with anyone who’s experienced loss and pain.

From the depths of despair, Palisades have not only emerged with Reaching Hypercritical, but they have also done so triumphantly. For Brandon, Xavier, Matthew, and Aaron, it’s now about sharing that victory with others who need dragging out of the mire.

“I just want to be able to show people that no matter how deep of a hole you're in that there’s always a way to crawl out,” Brandon says. “With everything we went through, we didn’t know what was going to happen or if this band would even continue for us, but we stuck together and overcame these obstacles together. The goal of Reaching Hypercritical, more than anything, is to show people that they can do that too.”

Iconic vocalist LISA GERRARD and composer MARCELLO DE FRANCISCI share 'When The Light of Morning Comes'

Legendary Dead Can Dance vocalist and highly acclaimed film composer Lisa Gerrard has joined forces with Los Angeles-based composer/ record producer Marcello De Francisci for the stunning new album 'Exaudia', presenting a vivid collection of epic and empowering compositions.

They now offer the second taste of this album - the atmospheric ambient track ‘When The Light Of Morning Comes’, following up the gorgeous tapestry of ‘Until We Meet Again’, released in June.

Capturing the broad and ethereal majesty of their work together, ‘When The Light Of Morning Comes’ highlights the rich and soaring tone of what we can expect from their upcoming full-length. Accompanied by a euphoric and cinematic new video, which adds powerful imagery to their newest release, they are conveying the bold and orchestral inspiration that has been tethered to their new studio album since its conception.

Ms. Gerrard and Mr. De Francisci met many years ago through soundtrack work, their collaborative efforts including soundtrack scores and their first album ‘Departum‘. This recording follows Gerrard's 2021 collaborative ‘Burn’ album with Dead Can Dance bandmate Jules Maxwell, produced by James Chapman (MAPS),

‘Exaudia’ is the term used when a monarch grants a citizen of his kingdom an audience and, as a result, consents to a wish. A fitting title considering how regal this recording is. Working alongside a team of other musicians including Bahar Shah, Astrid Williamson, Daniela Arbizzi and Farhad Behroozi, ‘Exaudia’ combines the encompassing and euphoric textures of De Francisci’s production with Gerrard's evocative and haunting vocals. A feminine embodiment of poetic expression, the record plays majestically with this narrative, inviting a rich and vivid texture within each offering.

“I met Marcello while I was composing for a film called 'Kings'. He had wonderful engineering skills and I liked him as a person. After a while, we decided to try composing together and went on to compose some film scores. This work was borne out of a desire to write something together during Covid, there is also the artistic desire to embrace the opportunity to unlock our unfulfilled visions. The album is very physical in its construction and sensibility, it is a deeply sensual work that enjoys a sense of empowered subtlety," says Lisa Gerrard.

Lisa Gerrard has established herself as one of the world’s most highly acclaimed film composers, winning a Golden Globe for her work on the score for ‘Gladiator’ with Hans Zimmer. Her film work also includes ‘Whale Rider’, which received an Academy Award nomination, and ‘Balibo’, which won the Screen Music Award for Best Feature Film Score. In 2018, she received a Grammy nomination for ‘Hiraeth’, alongside David Kuckhermann, and went on to become a featured vocalist on the score for ‘Dune’ before returning to Dead Can Dance to release ‘Dionysus’ and tour in 2022. Gerrard also performs as part of the ‘Gladiator Live’ concerts and ‘The World of Hans Zimmer’ tours.

About 'Until We Meet Again', Marcello De Francisci says, "This piece is very much a story that depicts longing, distance between two people, it is an invitation to heal and a message of hope… We collaborated remotely on 'Exaudia' during the holidays between Melbourne and Los Angeles as I recall, importing Lisa Gerrard’s vocals onto my session, which her engineer Simon Bowley had sent over on the night of New Year 2021. Whatever plans I had to celebrate that evening were completely obliterated upon witnessing the emotional impact Lisa’s performance had on me. The overall track in general, as a result, was instantly addictive and therefore, I proceeded to work alone in the studio until dawn".

De Francisci began his career as a visual artist while attending fine arts at an institution founded by the famed Baroque painter Bartolome Esteban Murillo in Seville, Spain. He furthered his education at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. In 2006, he won the Best Soundtrack of the Year G.A.N.G. Award for his work on Sony Computer Entertainment’s ‘God of War’ game. He soon partnered with Lisa Gerrard, launching their trajectory of collaborating and co-writing motion picture soundtrack scores together.

Love and Theft Release 6-Song EP BETTER OFF via ONErpm

It’s been nearly seven years since singers Eric Gunderson and Stephen Barker Liles, collectively known as country duo Love and Theft, released a full-length project. Previously known for its contemporary-leaning songs, the duo is back with a fresh, harmony-driven approach on Better Off, a six-song EP the two wrote and produced themselves. Better Off, with the title track as a new single, is available on all platformstoday via global music provider ONErpm. A music video for “Better Off” is also in the works.

Gunderson and Liles were interviewed this week while making their 65th appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. “We’re excited to finally get some new music out and thrilled for everybody to hear the project—this [EP] is something we are super passionate about and worked really hard on,” Gunderson said, later noting that it is “probably the coolest music we’ve ever put out.”

That’s a strong statement from a Platinum-selling duo with six top 25 radio singles under its belt and more than a million followers on social media.

For Better Off, Gunderson and Liles pulled from their classic rock and gospel influences, leaning into the sounds of such legends as The Eagles, The Beatles, The Doobie Brothers and The Gaither Vocal Band. They took risks experimenting with synthesizers and tremolos to create distinct, contemporary pop-rock and pop-country sounds.

The two co-wrote each of the six songs on the EP, a process that typically started with Gunderson building a track. After working together for 15 years, each is attuned to the other’s writing styles. Gunderson describes Liles’ method as “rapid-fire,” while he keeps his ideas in his head and shares them all at once. When they add a co-writer, they already know how their duo partner will react.

“We’ve switched up the entire way we approach making music,” Gunderson explains, “so we’re excited to have that control.” Liles agrees. “It’s what we want to say,” he affirms. “It’s even more personal because this is the first time we’ve ever owned our masters and our publishing.”

In a review of the EP, Alan Cackett, the 47th member of the British CMHoF, described Better Off as a “record that teems with bright melodies, gorgeous rhythms and an optimistic vision” that’s full of “catchy hooks and killer vocals from the pair.” He notes that the two have a “new perspective and a newfound maturity that they hadn’t yet developed during [their] initial run…the result is an album that is at once intimate and expansive while staying true to the duo’s identity.”

The EP’s title track was co-written with Jared Mullins (“Homemade,” Jake Owen) and Christopher Stevens (“Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” David Lee Murphy/Kenny Chesney) and is the most country song in the collection. Bridging the gap between the sound Love and Theft is known for and where the duo’s music is headed, “Better Off,” is an acoustic guitar–driven, country-pop tune with a sexy yet playful vibe.

“Accidentally on Purpose” is an ’80s-influenced, melodic pop song that showcases the higher end of Liles and Gunderson’s vocal registers, along with the airtight harmonies and synchronicity they’ve spent years developing. Billboard praised the single, writing, “Duo Love and Theft returns with a new, harmony-driven track, having just inked a label deal with ONErpm. Stephen Barker Liles’s airy tenor rides atop an appealing, laid-back groove.”

Co-written with country artist Bree Doster, the song bebops through the confusion of opening your heart to someone, only to have them walk away. “It’s a fun vibe,” Liles says, and Gunderson adds, “It gets stuck in your head, like an ear worm kind of thing.”

Other songs on the EP include mid-tempo pop rockers “Anyway” and “Tell Me What It Feels Like,” the contemporary-styled “Mirror, Mirror” and “Downhill,” which features rap-style verses juxtaposed with an acoustic guitar turnaround.

Founded in 2006, Love and Theft spent their first five years as a trio, releasing top 10 single “Runaway” in 2009. After becoming a duo in 2011, Love and Theft released its second album, featuring recurrent No. 1 “Angel Eyes,” while a third album produced the critically acclaimed single “Whiskey on My Breath.”

New Album 'Gold' Out August 12, 2022

Progressive metal outfit Unprocessed are eager to make their return to North America this year. The band will join forces with instrumental rock game-changers Polyphia on a 28-date summer tour, which kicks off next Thursday (July 28) in Houston, TX. With many of the shows on the upcoming trek already sold out, the group's return to the states comes at an immensely important time. Following the release of their 'Boy Without A Gun' EP this spring, Unprocessed will drop their new album, 'Gold', on August 12th (via Spinefarm). The LP features singles from 'Boy', including "Rain" and "Portrait", as well as the newest single, "Fabulist".

Psychedelic rock icons MONSTER MAGNET are pleased to announce the reissue of two seminal albums in their vast discography on limited edition vinyl – 2004’s Monolithic Baby!and 2007’s 4-Way Diablo – both of which have been out of print and unavailable digitally for years! Pre-orders for both the digital and vinyl editions of both albums are available now, set for release on September 16, 2022.

"It's great to see these two albums back in circulation again. The MONSTER MAGNETuniverse isn't complete without them! Monolithic Baby! is a big, glitzy (and purposefully cynical, but aren't they all?) rock and roll record, and listening to it now reminds me of that time – the beginning of the 21st century. Even then I knew things were gonna get weird!

4 Way Diablo is a collection of songs I wrote between tours in the early 2000s but couldn't find a place for. They piled up fast, and pretty soon, there was an album. It turns out there's some of my favorite Magnet songs there!"

2004 saw the release of MONSTER MAGNET’s sixth studio album Monolithic Baby!, the follow-up to 2000’s God Says No, which cemented the Red Bank, NJ rockers in the world of space rock and roll. This 14-track journey of masterful hard rock features 11 ripping originals and three cover songs recorded in true classic Magnet style, including covers of The Velvet Underground, David Gilmour and Robert Calvert. 

Monolithic Baby! is being reissued on orange vinyl with white and black splatter, as well as in a limited glow in the dark vinyl variant! Don’t miss the album Ultimate Classic Rock calls, “a revitalized, fire-breathing MONSTER MAGNET” and AllMusic calls, “another collection of undeniably Wyndorfian tunes.”

Recorded in four different studios (Sound City Studios, American Studios, The Sunset Lodge and Hydeaway Studios) throughout 2006-2007, 4-Way Diablo is the seventh offering from legendary riff masters MONSTER MAGNET. Featuring rippers such as “Wall of Fire,” “You’re Alive,” and a cover of an obscure Rolling Stones song “2000 Lightyears From Home,” 4-Way Diablo is a true gem in the MONSTER MAGNET catalog.

Considered one of the most creative, diverse, and hard-rocking of contemporary American bands, MONSTER MAGNET is credited with pioneering “stoner rock”. They’re noted for the uniqueness of their sound, their authenticity as a band, their ability to grow musically, and the intelligence and wit of their songs – fusing garage rock, progressive rock, heavy metal, punk and psychedelia. In addition to musical influences, the band has always been inspired by comic book, science fiction, horror movies, and B-movies by filmmakers such as Roger Gorman and Russ Myer.

CONSTELLATIA Releases Music Video for "Empyrean"

CONSTELLATIA vocalist and bassist Keenan Oakes explains, "I remember us wanting to write a very basic song, structurally speaking, so it takes on the verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus form; a pop song in essence. Thematically, 'Empyrean' is about obsession and ecstasy, about unrelenting passion and being consumed by it all. The bridge is a musical highlight for us as a band so far, one of the special moments from 'The Language of Limbs.' It feels good to close the chapter on this first incarnation, and to look ahead to the future and more music!"

Hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, CONSTELLATIA is the collaborative vision of Gideon Lamprecht and Keenan Oakes, founders of well-known acts CROW BLACK SKY and WILDERNESSKING respectively.

'The Language of Limbs' is essentially a post-metal record with black metal and progressive influences, and a healthy dose of ambience and atmosphere; always deeply engaging with a flair for the romantic and nostalgic. "It is a record that came from a place of desperation; a musical outlet for the years of hardship both members endured in their personal lives." Gideon Lamprecht comments.
