NYC's Star Rover release eponymous album, produced by Grammy awardee Jesse Harris

“Vast expanses of polyrhythms and waves of sound that engulf the listener in a blazing covenant of inescapable tunefulness that crumbles sonic boundaries" ~ PopMatters

"As diverse as they are fantastic... reminiscent of TNT-era Tortoise... Sheer excellence, this is vacillating instrumental post-rock with an American tinge" ~
The Spill Magazine

"Quite stellar... this music lies in a beautiful no-man’s land between Tortoise, MGMT, Animal Collective and Foals" ~ The Big Takeover

"Impeccable and moving music that is this intricate, deep, shifting and tastefully orchestrated... flawless" ~ The Record Stache

"Gorgeous, astounding musical tapestry" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Golden era post-rock mixed with sophisticated avant-pop" ~ Impose Magazine

"Ephemeral and immediate, existential yet grounded; a sort of alternative electronic folk... full of color and emotion, it resonates with the glow of an experiment gone right" ~ Atwood Magazine

NYC collective Star Rover present their eponymous album 'Star Rover', a cohesive yet eclectic statement, melding the improvisational energy of their live sets with the depth and fidelity of the studio to create something dynamic, aggressive, nostalgic and beautiful all at once.

Earlier, the duo (Will Graefe and Jeremy Gustin) previewed singles 'Ghosts of New York State' and 'The Springs', along with animated videos directed by Clara Trevisan that wonderfully tease this series of lyrically whimsical tales - half dreamscape, half reality.

With the break in performances caused by the pandemic, Star Rover seized the opportunity to work on their music free of time constraints. Frequent collaborator and Grammy award-winning songwriter Jesse Harris produced the new record at his Long Island studio, a fruitful exercise of telepathic communication in spirited live takes, using those as springboards for sonic experimentation.

"We went to a small beach house in long island with our friend and collaborator Jesse Harris, who produced the record with us. Not trying to over-think or over-arrange it, we let ourselves have a blissful sort of creative week together discovering what this record might be. It seemed to encapsulate elements of what we used to be, what we are, and what we can be," says Jeremy Gustin.

“We let the record come to us, and working with the amazing engineer Vira Byramji, we often let the sounds dictate the material just as much as any pre-arranged ideas we brought. You can hear the buzz of insects and waves in the distance. Setting up microphones on the porch, I even played the wood sides of the house with my hands on a song. The whole environment, including the taste of the clam linguine Jesse would make for us are in these songs”

Through early sessions playing together at Gustin's Bushwick loft in 2011, Gustin and Graefe bonded over their shared love of John Fahey, as well as the spiky post-rock of Deerhoof and Lightning Bolt. Later that year, they recorded their first record 'Western Winds Bitter Christians', a short lo-fi collection of grungy Fahey covers and distorted originals. Besides touring the USA, Europe and Japan, they are both in-demand session and touring artists, working with the likes of David Byrne, Kimbra, Bill Frissel, Okkervil River, Sam Amidon, Marc Ribot, Delicate Steve and Nels Cline, among others.

Between touring and other recording work, Star Rover's writing developed towards futuristic post-rock, connected to the directness of folk melodies, leading to their 2018 album 'I May Be Lost But I'm Laughing', a more produced effort featuring such artists as Sam Evian, Shahzad Ismailly, Rob Moose (yMusic), Daniel Rossen (Grizzly Bear) and Sarah K Pedinotti.

The next year, Star Rover collaborated with Brazilian musician (and frequent Caetano Veloso collaborator) Ricardo Dias Gomes. They wrote and recorded 'This Whole Emptiness' album in Lisbon at the studio of Marcelo Camelo.

The 'Star Rover' album is out now, available across digital platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. It can be ordered at https://ffm.to/starroveralbum or via Bandcamp.

Shrinari present 'Listen Up' with video focused on the Huni Kuin tribe of Brazil. The 'Hold On To The Hope, Though' LP is out now

"Omamori’s crystalline vocals and sense of innocence take us on a reflective and purifying flight... Angulo’s instrumentation provides the perfect peaceful crucible in which to hold it, confidently and reassuringly... could be dubbed earth-pop" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Soft-spoken pop meets a purifying Irish spring... Weaving musical tapestries with harp, guitar and vocals... a beautiful marriage of sound with song, drawing you in with frequencies and tones that seemingly connect with our organs and cells" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"A clear and strong earthy and believable delivery with a minimalistic song framework" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

British-Spanish indie folk duo Shrinari present their highly relevant single 'Listen Up' - a timely message to take care of what we have before it's too late. The accompanying video was created by Frida Wiita, based on footage Scott Murdenthat filmed of the Huni Kuin tribe of Brazil.

This song is found on their new long-player 'Hold On To The Hope, Though', a collection of deep, inspirational tracks, bringing the listener on a surrealistic journey on a path of discovery. You could call this music Genre Fluid, Sacred Funk or Spirit Soul. You could call it High Frequency Music or World Folk Pop. This beautifully-crafted collection is full of love, light and positivity.

These eight tracks intertwine the personal and the collective, giving voice to the challenges we are facing in these changing times. Always delivered with a Shrinari sense of optimism and hope filled wonder, their music reflects the point of no return that we are living through historically, together with the timeless themes of human existence and evolution.

"I read a book as a teenager, which incorporates two speeches by Native American Indians called “How can one sell the air?” (A manifesto for the Earth). It evoked an innate understanding in me as I always had a strong passion towards environmental causes. I really felt strongly about protecting the Earth and could not understand the choices we were making to go against this," says Lucidia Omamori.

"This book came to mind when I was writing the song, further influenced by our time shared with Huni Kuni people and Native Americans whose interconnectedness with Earth and respect for her as our mother rings true throughout my being. It was beautiful to share this at the Extinction Rebellion protests in London. I do hope the song inspires people to take environmental action in whatever ways they are able to."

Based in London, Shrinari is a leading duo on the British spiritual music scene and also tour internationally. Formed by Lucidia Omamori and Rafael Marchante Angulo, they incorporate harp, guitar and vocals into their music, which has a strong spiritual component and carries a message of hope, unity and connection.

Earlier, the duo released the singles 'The Gift', the cinematic ethno-folk-pop ballad 'Desert Path' and 'Standing Rock' featuring London-based chamber-pop artist Heren Wolf, notable Spanish drummer Edu Olmedo and the sublime horn section from Brixton reggae, dub and afrobeat band The Soothsayers.

Shrinari makes music that brings hope, fuels a positive outlook on life, and promotes ecological and spiritual awareness. With their new musical output, Shrinari continue their transcendent adventure in consciousness and celebration of love and life through the synergy of sound and song.

Rafael Marchante Angulo speaks of this song, first played on Kerrang radio in 2019. "Creating 'Listen Up' was a beautiful adventure, it came out as quite experimental to start with, the initial version was a good 90 sec longer and featured an extended middle section. We decided to cut it down and then we reworked it completely, adding Idris Rahman’s lush horn section and recording some instruments again to take advantage of my improved recording skills two years on".

He adds, "This song is about the obvious fact that, when you live in immediate and constant touch with nature, you have a naturally unshakeable connection with it and there are things you’d never do, let alone destroy the environment the way it is being destroyed due to our industrial level blindness. Again it’s not about some idilic idea, even though we love things idyllic: our very survival is in question. This is a recurring theme in our songs because it’s such an important issue. Probably the most important together with human rights violations around the world, which the indigenous defenders of ancestral lands and ways of life suffer constantly."

The 'Hold Onto The Hope, Though' album is out now, available digitally everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music and directly from the artist via Bandcamp. A percentage of profits from their music goes to support projects aimed at protecting the earth and indigenous peoples.

NICKE ANDERSSON (vocals & guitars) comments:
"The album has 10 songs and although it’s obviously not easy to be objective at all, I think musically it sums up everything we’ve touched upon from the start in 1994 up until now. Some of the songs date back as far as 10 years or more, and some were written more recently. It’s rock and roll played with high energy, so for lack of a better term I say High Energy Rock And Roll. You could say it sounds like THE BEATLES meets JUDAS PRIEST or LYNYRD SKYNYRD meets THE RAMONES but the best way to describe this album is that it sounds like THE HELLACOPTERS today."

"EYES OF OBLIVION" IS AVAILABLE IN THESE FORMATS:

  • Limited Edition 2CD Box Set (CD Digipak + cardboard sleeve; incl. beer coaster, woven patch, 2 buttons, and four bonus tracks: Eleanor Rigby (The Beatles cover), Circus (String Driven Thing cover), I Am the Hunted (GBH cover), I Ain’t No Miracle Worker (The Brogues cover))

THE HELLACOPTERS were formed in 1994 by Nicke Andersson (vocals and guitar), Dregen (guitar),Kenny Håkansson (bass), and Robert Eriksson (drums). At that time Andersson was renowned in the metal scene for his work in the well-known Swedish death metal band ENTOMBED and Dregen had built a reputation as co-founder and guitarist of his main band BACKYARD BABIES.

Next to THE HIVES and THE BACKYARD BABIES, THE HELLACOPTERS are considered one of the most important and influential Swedish rock bands of the 1990s and 2000s - they achieved two Gold certifications, won the Swedish Grammy and a Kerrang! award, have amassed 100 million streams to date, and have supported and toured with the likes of The Rolling Stones, Kiss, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, or the Foo Fighters. They have released seven albums, ranging fuzzed-out & supercharged garage punk on Supershitty To The Max! (1996) & Payin' The Dues (1997) to perfectly crafted & soulful high-energy rock'n'roll with a strong vintage vibe on the following albums, Grande Rock (1999), High Visibility (2000), By The Grace Of God (2002) and Rock & Roll Is Dead (2005). A compilation of cover songs called "Head Off" was released in 2008 and marked the band's last album before ultimately dissolving. In addition, THE HELLACOPTERS have released almost four dozen singles, splits, and EPs until this day, most of which got the limited 7inch or 10inch vinyl treatment, making them a vinyl collector's dream ... or worst nightmare.

THE HELLACOPTERS reunited in 2016 to play a few shows for the 20th anniversary of their debut album, and have proven an unstoppable force ever since, performing at Sweden Rock Festival, Psycho Las Vegas, Download, Hellfest, Roskilde, Ilosaarirock, among others. In October 2021 they announced that they had signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Records and a new album would be in the works for Spring 2022.

Lisle Engle Steps Out from Behind the Scenes with Incisive and Socially Aware Title Track, “Medicine Man”!

Burbank, CA based multi-instrumentalist, sound-designer / supervisor / composer, singer-songwriter, and President of TFK Studios LISLE ENGLE has released his poignant and timely official music video for "Medicine Man," the title track off of his recently released album. Featuring crunchy bass and rhythm guitar by ENGLE alongside soaring guitar riffs by Bill Angarolaand Pete Sjostedt from Muck and the Mires, plus high energy vocal performances by Angarola, Kristen Kohary, and Paul Grubb, "Medicine Man" is a seamless melding of Alternative Pop Rock post-modernism and old-school guitar rock intensity, evoking a superficially unlikely but satisfying union ofPeter Gabriel, The Black Crows, and Cheap Trick.

Best known for his prolific sound design and re-recording mix work, LISLE ENGLE has been involved with such iconic films as the 2013, Academy Award nominated and BAFTA and Golden Globe winning American Hustle, bombastic, the highly anticipated 2003 Freddy vs. Jason, and 1997 Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and 1999 Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me comedy classics (sound effects editor) as well as such modern and incredibly popular TV shows as Arrested Development (sound editor, re-recording mixer), Riverdale (re-recording mixer), and and The Flight Attendant (re-recording mixer), which is reflected in the layered soundscapes and tight sound design of Medicine Man.

"At the end of 2020, I had a couple of weeks off and decided to turn my thoughts about this crazy Covid Pandemic into a collection of songs. Everything poured itself out of me during sessions at home and at my studio and hiking in the mountains above Burbank. These songs cover the gamut of emotions from trying to connect with loved ones in the hospital, to feeling disengaged from life, to hoping for a vaccine, to dealing with people wearing masks, to listening to experts and Instagram pundits talk and talk with conflicting messages, to the political landscape that seemed to intensify the harsh political divisions we are seeing in our country these days. Medicine Man hits all of those things." - LISLE ENGLE

Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Lisle Engle has been writing and performing for 35 years. He began in the early 80’s, honing his vocal abilities in the local club scene of Savannah with his cover band The Vital Signs. He founded his first original band, The Promise, while attending Boston University. They played many shows on the East Coast, including the Boston clubs The ParadiseThe RatThe Channel, and Bunrattys; as well as NYC dates at China ClubLimelight, and CBGB. After college, The Promise moved to Los Angeles, seeking fame and fortune. They played hundreds of shows all over the city, such as The Whiskey-A-Go-GoClub With No NameEnglish AcidThe Roxy, and Lingerie. The Promise later evolved into a project calledHEAD, which got very close to the fabled big record deal but ultimately disbanded when they weren’t picked up.

After a short jaunt to Florida to produce a CDROM project, the world’s first interactive, multimedia concept album, Welcome To The Future, Lisle quickly returned to LA to form a new group including the amazing violinist Dorian Cheah, bass player Giuseppe Patane, and drummer Steve Holmes. They played all over the city and had a residency at the Cat Club for a year on the world famous Sunset Strip. They produced an album, California Miles, which garnered critical success but ended as its members pursued other endeavors.

In the last few years, Lisle has played in several band lineups, including a collaboration with well-known LA producer and studio engineer Matt Gruber, which produced the Mad West album, These Are The Terms. Mad West was about to play their first show when the Covid lockdowns arrived, closing all venues. The project ran out of steam over the interim and Lisle decided to once again strike out on his own with his latest solo endeavor, Medicine Man. Inspired by the events of 2020, Medicine Man is a record of observations of humans experience, the media, science, government, and how the events of the pandemic affected and continue to influence our lives.

Medicine Man contains 7 songs and runs 30 minus in length. It is a high-energy, politically and emotionally charged rock record with amazing lead guitar performances from a group of some of the best players in Los Angeles, including Bill AngarolaReza MoosaviJeff MileyChris Rife and Richard Dugay, as well as a special appearance from Pete Sjostedt, and vocal appearances by Jenny Lobel and Kristen Kohary; keyboard contributions appear courtesy of veteran Hollywood sound designer and synth collectorCharles Maynes. The record was produced by Lisle Engle and mastered atThe Manor Studios by Matt Vowels of the goth band Black Angel. If you are looking for some rocking new tunes with insight, social commentary, and emotional power; as well as killer rock production and many “guitar hero” level performances, Lisle Engle’s Medicine Man is definitely an album that you should check out for the new year!

VEIO Release Official Music Video for ”Janus”!

Portland based Heavy Alternative Rock band VEIO has released the official music video for their newest single, "Janus." The single was produced by Stephan Hawkes (Chelsea Grin, Attila, I Declare War) atInterlace Audio in Portland. "Janus" is a fresh sound for the band and the next evolution in VEIO'S unique sonic alchemy.

"Janus is a song about trials and tribulations of the past, present and future. We've overcome a lot of adversity in our time as a band and the song is about us trying to endure and overcome." - VEIO

Veio melds alt-rock’s anthemic allure to the exhilarating adventurism of prog metal like few before them.

The roots of Veio – a name taken from an ancient Etruscan city – reach back to the childhood musical collaborations of Cam and Brett Byrd (vocals/guitar and drums respectively). The brothers formed Veio after college, with the lineup completed by bassist Kris Lewis 5 years ago. With the 2017 debut albumInfinite Light / Desperate Shadows and tireless touring efforts with the likes of SeetherTremonti, and RED, the band earned legions of loyal fans. The band's follow up 2020 album, Vitruvian, saw its first single, “Flare of Defiance,” storm the Billboard Rock Chart and entered Active Rock Radio’s Top 30.

Now a part of the revamped Silent Majority Group (ParamoreCreed,Sevendust), Veio’s music is garnering lofty comparisons to the thoughtful, artsy rock of Tool and A Perfect Circle, along with Thrice’s muscular, ultra-authentic optimism and the technical yet tuneful prog metal of Tesseract andMastodon.

“We've always strived to have a unique sound that a mainstream audience can enjoy while still being mainly influenced by prog and metal bands,” Lewis states. “We hope both sides of the spectrum will enjoy the new music.”
Consistently creating soaring, singable material without compromising their love for odd time signatures and challenging polymeters, Veio displays the single-minded talent, passion, and work ethic to remain a chart fixture for years to come.

Scorpions Share "Rock Believer" Single

19TH ALBUM ROCK BELIEVER OUT FEBRUARY 25, 2022

SCORPIONS have shared the title track for their new album Rock Believer. Listen here.

Commenting on the advance release of the title track of their latest album, due out on February 25, Klaus Meine, both singer and author of the lyrics, says, "Over the years, we've heard people say lots of times that rock is dead. But there are still millions of rock believers out there all over the world that prove them wrong. Our fans are the best in the world. We'll see you someday somewhere out there, because we're Rock Believers, just like you."

The song is a fundamental commitment to rock music, composed by a band in the style of their outstanding, globally successful recordings of the 1980s.

Meine says, "The new material sees us return to our roots. We simply wanted to reactivate the original SCORPIONS' DNA — great riffs, strong melodies. We tried to transport that live feel to the studio with all five of us playing in one room again at last. Having Mikkey Dee in the band is like a shot of fresh energy and real fun."

Due to the pandemic, the recording sessions planned in America had to be canceled and relocated to Germany.

Matthias Jabs says, "In a way, the situation was a blessing in disguise for us." The band had already hired a studio in Los Angeles, but their plans were thwarted by fate. Instead, the musicians found themselves stuck at home, three of them only a stone's throw away from the legendary Peppermint Park Studios in Hanover, and as soon as travel restrictions were relaxed, Pawel Maciwoda and Mikkey Dee were able to join them from Poland and Sweden respectively.

"And everything suddenly felt like it had back in the 1980s, when the five of us rocked together, hanging out at the corner pub in the evenings and talking about our music," Jabs reminisces.

"We had already started to talk about a new album back in 2018," recalls Rudolf Schenker.

The new single "Rock Believer"is the album's exclamation mark and credo. The video will follow on January 18.

The spectacular single cover was designed by Klaus Voormann, Grammy winner ("Best Record Cover 1966") and also creator of the artwork of the award-winning Beatles album Revolver.

In March and April 2022, the band are set to perform at the Planet Hollywood Resorts & Casino in Las Vegas as part of their residency, followed by a European tour scheduled to kick off with a number of shows in Germany in June 2022, with more concerts around the world in the pipeline.

NEW LIVE ALBUM RELEASE JOHN LODGE OF THE MOODY BLUES‘THE ROYAL AFFAIR AND AFTER’ OUT JANUARY 14

NEW LIVE ALBUM RELEASE
JOHN LODGE OF THE MOODY BLUES
‘THE ROYAL AFFAIR AND AFTER’
OUT JANUARY 14

Keeping The Music of The Moody Blues Alive
John Lodge Releases ‘The Royal Affair and After’

John Lodge — legendary bass player, songwriter and vocalist of The Moody Blues, and inductee in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — today releases a dynamic and vibrant new live album: ‘The Royal Affair and After: a release that’s sure to delight existing fans of The Moody Blues and make new ones.

This 10-track album includes brand-new, live recordings of all John’s Moody Blues hits, along with special tributes to all his bandmates: Graeme Edge, Justin Hayward, Mike Pinder and Ray Thomas.

The album was recorded live in Las Vegas on ‘The Royal Affair Tour’, in the Summer of 2019. with additional tracks recorded during John’s subsequent USA dates. For John, it provided an opportunity to bring his electrifying show to both long-established fans of The Moody Blues and to younger music lovers new to them.

The carefully curated set and album track list includes hits such as ‘I’m Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band)’, ‘Ride My See-saw’, ‘Isn’t Life Strange’, ‘Steppin’ in a Slide Zone’, and ‘Gemini Dream’. You’ll also find ‘Saved by the Music’ from the Blue Jays’ album (released by John and Justin Hayward in 1975, during The Moody Blues’ 5-year hiatus).

John has woven these tracks together with special tributes to his bandmates from The Moody Blues - as John describes it, the ’soundtrack of his life’.

‘The Royal Affair and After’’ includes a poignant, very special recording of the poem ‘Late Lament’ by the Moody Blues’ drummer Graeme Edge (co-founder and drummer of The Moody Blues, who sadly passed away in November 2021). The poem originally appeared on the iconic album ‘Days of Future Passed’, written by Edge, but voiced by Mike Pinder. John was delighted when Graeme Edge agreed to record his poem for him, in his own voice.

John’s tribute to Ray Thomas is his version of “Legend of a Mind”, John and Ray were friends from the age of 15 when they met on a bus in Birmingham and decided to form a band together. His tribute to Mike Pinder is his rendition of ‘Sunset’: a new version that captures the mystical tone of Pinder’s work, and Jon Davison of YES provides guest vocals on ‘Nights in White Satin’. For 54 years John has played this song at every Moody Blues concert, and loves playing the bass line that he wrote all those years ago, and with the Moody Blues no longer touring, this was a wonderful opportunity to play tribute to Hayward.

On tour and in the live recordings that comprise the album, John and his 10,000 Light Years Band capture the essence, energy, and messages of these Moody Blues songs, performing them with the energy, verve and musicianship the band were famed for, whilst bringing a truly modern feel to these classic songs.

John’s mission statement is, after all, “I want to keep all the Moody Blues music alive!”

“The last two years have been strange and crazy times,” John reflects, “and we have all faced challenges we never imagined. For me, it was very therapeutic to spend time working on this new live album. As the COVID waves have come and gone, and we’ve been isolated and often separated from loved ones, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about these songs: songs that really are the ‘soundtrack of my life’: ‘Ride my See-Saw’, ‘Isn’t Life Strange’, ‘Steppin’ in a Slide Zone’ — all seem so relevant today.

“It also makes me so very happy that Graeme did his special performance of ‘Late Lament’ for the album: he will be deeply missed, but will always stay with us in our hearts and on this album.

“I’m also thankful to Jon Davison from YES, who is a great friend, but also performs the vocals on ‘Nights’ so beautifully, honouring this iconic song.

“I wish for us all as we start 2022 that this is the last COVID wave, and we can be back together again on the road, enjoying life, and this music. At the end of the day, I am just a singer in a rock and roll band.”

Joining John are his ’10,000 Light Years Band’; Alan Hewitt (Music Director and Keyboards), Billy Ashbaugh (Drums), Duffy King (Guitars) and Jason Charboneau (Cello).

'The Royal Affair and After' is released today on CD and digital download and all streaming services. A limited-edition blue vinyl will also be released on 28th with a black vinyl release on 11th February 2022. See John’s website for details.

Showcasing more of what can be expected from their stellar discography now boasting millions of streams, “Sabotage” doubles down on the catchy, trademark, high-octane alt-metal/groove side of the band’s sound.

Frontwoman Shakey Sue’s raspy punk rock vocals and angsty attitude shine bright atop crisp, modern production - bass and drums provide a tight and thick foundation, while guitars go crazy with pitched, Morello-inspired solos, before leading into a kickass breakdown - guaranteed to get the mosh pits crazy! After making a name for themselves internationally by touring in Europe and the USA, “Sabotage" is a merciless demonstration of what Budapest-based THE HELLFREAKS have in store on their upcoming full-length album - ready to take over the world!

THE HELLFREAKS on “Sabotage”:

“Everyone who knows our history might not be surprised by the unpredictable steps of THE HELLFREAKS. We love to challenge ourselves and see this mindset as the oil for our engine, that is why we decided to do something we never did before - to cover a song that represents a legendary piece of rock music history.

The four members of THE HELLFREAKS are from different musical corners, so it wasn't an easy task to find the song that feels right to all of us, but when the idea of Beastie Boys “Sabotage” popped up in the air, we were all immediately on board! We admire the band, but at the same, we saw how we could spice the song with some HELLFREAKS spirit to turn it somehow to our own. That being said we decided to record the instrumental part not instrument by instrument, part by part as it’s usual, but recorded it all together, live, to keep the essence of Beastie Boys in our own version too. On the top we wanted to set a sign of our roots visually as well. The New York based Beastie Boys came straight from the undergound and had a massive influence on rock music till these days. To respect that, we recorded the video in the heart of our hometown, Budapest, over the rooftops of our city on the Gellért Hill, which is also the home of Hungary's Liberty Statue.

We loved working on this very much and hope that you’ll enjoy our version!”

American Hard Rock band Artifas was formed in 2011 in Jackson, TN by lead guitarist Cody Criswell and lead vocalist Scottie Somerville. In the months following, the two founders of the group would immediately recruit an assortment of hometown musicians and begin looking to record their debut EP. After having a long and ugly encounter that resulted in the theft of all the bands funds and receiving no album in return, the original incarnation of the group would spend 2012-2013 doing several independent tours and writing music. After debuting with their EP Enemy Inside in 2013 and doing numerous regional/national tours in support of it, the band replaced former members with guitarist Mikey Miller, bassist Anthony Mattox, and drummer Jared Wainscott.

With almost two years of touring with the new lineup under their belts, Artifas inked themselves a record deal and hit the studio to make their first full length album. The 2015 release of the title track, “Inhuman,” would bring the band some commercial success, reaching # 32 on Billboard’s Active Rock chart and sending the band on the road in support of their new album. The band landed tours with established artists like Theory of a DeadmanShamans HarvestPop EvilSaint AsoniaAranda, and others. The follow up single from that record, “Blood 4 Blood”, would later get picked up by the World Series of Fighting and subsequently land a feature in theUFC movie “Fight Valley”. The band parted ways with their record label in 2016, and remained on tour throughout the US for most of the following year, also traveling internationally for the first time with the likes of Papa RoachHoobastankP.O.D.,Trapt, and Sick Puppies to play for our American Troops.

Multiple tour cycles later, Artifas found themselves back in the studio making new music. The band worked with multiple writers and producers throughout the entirety of 2018, but would ultimately only find themselves frustrated with the recordings that resulted. After a soul search within the group, Artifas elected to embrace their own vision and write/produce their next album independently, free from the creative overreach of outside influence.

After two years of writing, recording, and mixing, Artifas has completed the new album, and plans to unleash it upon the world. With catchy guitar riffs, dizzying drums, and soaring melodies, Reflections will send you on an emotional journey, exploring the band’s semi-prog, radio rock sound while diving deeper into the human complex with lyrics centered around self awareness and the bands own struggles with mental health. The goal for the creation of this album was to make a record that met the band’s expectations and you can rest assured they held nothing back. Mixed and Mastered by Forrester Savell (Twelve Foot Ninja, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus)Reflections promises to wow you with musical prowess, all the while delivering Artifas’ important message on unity, inspiration, and the sempiternal battle between dark and light.

Lee McKinney (Born of Osiris) Releases New Solo Album 'In The Light Of Knowledge' via Sumerian Records

Incendiary guitarist Lee McKinney (Born of Osiris) has released his latest solo album 'In The Light Of Knowledge' today via Sumerian Records. Prior to today's release, Lee shared playthroughs for his songs "Stormrage" and"Crystal Song", which together have totaled over 119,000 views on YouTube so far. Speaking on today's release, Leecommented:

"I couldn't be more proud of In The Light of Knowledge. I've always described this album as being as close to "inside an artist's mind" as you can get. That's not just because in a way each of these songs is somewhat of a diary entry for me emotionally, but it's also because I wrote every instrument, produced, edited, engineered, mixed, and mastered it on my own. What you hear is exactly what I heard and felt when creating it in my studio - unchanged by anything or anyone. On that note, thank you to Adrián Terrazas-González for his saxophone contributions, and thank you to Misstiq for her piano contribution to Crystal Song.

This album made me feel like I fine-tuned the vision of what I wanted my solo music to be. I had a clear goal and vision. The vision was to make you FEEL something. If I had to describe the album in one word, it would be emotion. This album (like Infinite Mind) is not intended to be a shred fest. Of course, it will happen naturally with my play style and tendencies, but it is NEVER a goal of my solo records. There will always be a new faster guitar player coming up in the world. The "race" doesn't appeal to me anymore. I've been playing guitar for 22 years... at this point, evoking emotion is more important to me than recycling shred techniques. I think from the beginning of my career, melody, and emotion have been what I've excelled at. These solo albums are me exploring that deeper.

I hope you all enjoy it. Thank you for the support."

Loverboy Returns in 2022 with New Single, “Release” and tour with REO Speedwagon and Styx

“Like millions of others around the globe, we’re ready to rock again,” says Loverboy guitarist/co-founding member Paul Dean about their return to recording and the concert stage in 2022.

The band’s new single, “Release,” slated for release in mid-January on all digital streaming platforms, is a full-throttle rocker Paul had been working on, at first intended for an unnamed metal band which approached him as a songwriter/producer to work with them. But when that didn’t pan out, Dean decided to reach out to the other members of Loverboy to gauge their interest in recording it as their next single, which became “Release."

“It started out as a frustrated call to action, after months of lock down, and morphed into a metal anthem about the loyalty and commitment of that audience,” said Dean, with lyrics inspired by Sam Dunn’s 2005 documentary Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey. They could well apply to Loverboy itself, going strong more than four decades after forming in Calgary in 1979.

“The communal aspect of heavy rock is almost like a religion,” says Paul. “I’ve always been a big metal fan; My son and I have seen many of those bands in concert.”

Paul started with no music, just the phrase, “I need a release,” and eventually finished writing it, before soliciting the other members of Loverboy, starting with lead singer Mike Reno, who contributed vocals and some evocative lyrics like “It’s a frontal attack/It’s a matter of fact.”And when he continues, “Thinkin’ bout me and you/Couldn’t stop if we wanted to/It’s a bond that can’t be broken/Never broken,” Reno could be talking about the long-term relationships within the band or with their own steadfast fans. Paul recorded Mike’s vocals in a single afternoon at Reno’s Vancouver home studio. “Mike always provides that great energy,” says Paul.

Doug Johnson then added his trademarked keyboard riffs. "He’s such an amazing player and an essential part of the band,” acknowledged Dean. Then, drummer Matt Frenette and bassist Ken “Spider” Sinnaeve, who joined the band in 2001 when original member Scott Smith drowned in a boating accident, provided the always-solid foundation, making “Release” a potent Loverboy anthem in the style of “Working for the Weekend,” “Hot Girls in Love,” Lovin’ Every Minute of It,” and "Turn Me Loose.”

Working remotely, Frenette sent Dean seven different possible drum “takes” for the track. “That was amazing,” said Paul. “It totally blew me away. And Matt was very helpful in putting the video together as well, he had some great ideas."

Dean adds, “Looks like we’re finally going to get that “Release” this January, when we play together live for the first time in nearly 2 years!”

Loverboy’s upcoming tour dates include January 23 with Rick Springfield at the Ilani Cowlitz Ballroom in Ridgefield, WA and headlining shows March 3rd and 4th in Windsor and Sarnia, ON. Loverboy will then join fellow rockers Styx and REO Speedwagon for the Live Nation promoted “Live & UnZoomed” tour that kicks off May 31, 2022, in Grand Rapids, MI at the Van Andel Arena.

Loverboy has four multi-platinum albums, including the four-million-selling Get Lucky, and a trio of double-platinum releases in their self-titled 1980 debut, 1983’s Keep It Up and 1985’s "Lovin’ Every Minute of It." Their string of hits includes, in addition to the arena-rock anthem “Working for the Weekend,” such staples as “Lovin’ Every Minute of It,” “This Could Be the Night,” “Hot Girls in Love,”“Heaven in Your Eyes,” “Turn Me Loose,” “When It’s Over," “Heaven In Your Eyes,” and “Queen of the Broken Hearts.”

LOCKJAW Release Official Music Video for "Living in My Head"

Fort Worth, TX based, heavy rock / metal band LOCKJAWis back with the official music video for their newest single, "Living in My Head". Produced by Chris Collier (Korn, KMX) and the video directed by Jeremy Peterson, "Living in My Head" premiered on popular, taste-making YouTube channel Space Untravel!

"'Living in My Head' was a song we felt had to be released early on this album because it really hits home with what the world is going through now. We felt we could connect with fans, and let them know, we are with you. We are all struggling together. We feel the pressure of this world, with the pandemic and uncertainty, it really causes stress, anxiety, mental health issues all around. I don’t think anyone is immune to it. We are really proud of the final product and are glad to send our brand of heavy music into the world. We hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do!" - LOCKJAW

Lockjaw is a band based in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. The group recently came out with a brand new release announcement for their upcoming single: Silence The Fear. This is going to be the first of many tracks, which the group is planning on releasing throughout the year. This particular song feels like a compelling new chapter for the band, highlighting its commitment to creating music that blurs the lines between a wide range of influences. From the depth and energy of alternative rock down the impactful edge of heavy metal, there are no rules. The group has a rather long history, fueled by the friendship of the band members, who got together to form this band while in high school in the late 90s. The music scene was quite different back then, but just like today, Lockjaw was never interested in chasing trends. These talented musicians had the vision to make their own music and truly give it their all. Lockjaw started making music in 1998, and it didn’t take long for the group to be able to record and release a handful of EPs throughout the local scene. The band’s music earned a solid reputation, and Lockjaw soon grew to the ranks of excellent local bands, on stage and in the studio.

The group is on the verge of making their return with some brand new music, as they are gearing up to release some exciting new material. Lockjaw’s most recent studio single is titled "Silence The Fear," and it is going to be available on August 6th, 2021. On the occasion of this and other recordings, The band hit the studio with famed producer Chris Collier, already well-known for his work with seminal bands such as Korn, as well as Lynch MobProng, and KMX, only to mention a few. Without spoiling anything, let’s just say that these songs depict the band at its best. Instead of releasing a whole record at once, Lockjaw is set to be releasing a handful of singles throughout the years, allowing their releases to seamlessly spread over time and giving the audience a nice constant stream of content. The band’s upcoming music is ultimately a perfect example of the band’s attitude and charismatic approach to songwriting and performance, going for an immediate and earthy sound that favors the human connection between the musicians, rather than hiding their work under an excessive layer of studio trickery. If you are a fan of artists such asMetallicaLamb Of GodAmon AmarthOpethMachineHead, andSlipknot, this one is definitely going to be right up your alley. Production-wise, the band’s new music is just as exciting and crisp as you might expect from such high standards of recording and production. For instance, "Silence The Fear’s" mix is balanced and very detail-oriented, making for a lively, edgy, and stark sonic approach. In other words, there are many subtle nuances in this release, which really add to the richness of the track when summed up together. At first glance, you’ll notice the roaring walls of guitar and the energetic rhythm section, but if you dive deeper, there is a lot more to uncover. The dynamic spectrum of the song is also very balanced, with a tight yet deep low end that really growls, holding it all together while adding some aggressive edge to the sound.

Find out more about Lockjaw, and do not miss out on the band’s upcoming music, which is going to be available throughout the web’s premier digital streaming platforms.

ABOUT SHADOW OF INTENT

SHADOW OF INTENT is an American metal band based in New England originally formed by Ben Duerr and Chris Wisemanin 2014. The band continues to release their music independently including their first album Primordial (2016), second albumReclaimer (2017) and very recently their latest work Melancholy (2019).

The band name and lyrics were originally derived from lore from the Halo franchise and since then the band’s subject matter has become more dark and personal, while maintaining an element of fantasy and wonder. The band’s music is heavily built off of various different genres of metal including death metal, black metal, symphonic metal, progressive metal, and metalcore.SHADOW OF INTENT played their first live show at the end of 2017, which then lead to them embarking on several US tours with bands such as The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Carnifex, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Despised Icon, and more.

2021 has brought about a new era of the band bringing singles, "Where Millions Have Come To Die", “Intensified Genocide”, “From Ruin… We Rise” and a cover of Lamb of God’s “Laid to Rest”, foreshadowing the 2022 'Elegy' album release. The band further evolves their subject matter, touching on the atrocities of mankind throughout history brought about by warmongering, hatred, and greed. The signature SHADOW OF INTENT sound continues to evolve with a larger-than-life cinematic soundscape accompanying each track, bringing a sonic experience hitherto unheard.

Mr. Bungle's Trevor Dunn and Jarvis Earnshaw (aka TRAVIS DUO) release 'Hypnagogia' album and a string of trippy videos

"If there is an ‘Avant’ class amongst avant-garde musicians, surely Jarvis Earnshaw and Trevor Dunn must sit among them... a portal for dreamery, a trigger for the upper chakras - taking the listener on an introspective and peaceful trip" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Fluid soundscapes that constantly straddle the line between the abrasive and the spiritual... a fine blend of the two styles" ~ Record Crates United

"Dreamlike compositions and an eclectic range of instrumentation including sitars, xylophones and flutes... the border between reality and the abstract dream world is set to be challenged" ~ Mxdwn

"Imagine a more abstract take on Shakti with John McLaughlin, Mahavishnu Orchestra or Ry Cooder with Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, bring in and give free reign to several orchestra members, slow it all down and add a more psychedelic avant-garde jazz element to it. You would end up with Jarvis Earnshaw and Trevor Dunn's TRAVIS DUO" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"You could call this avant-garde ethnic-space jazz or just deem this an interesting creation of a contemplative jazz-inspired auditory space. Each artist brings their own magic into the fold, lending to new layers in this unique sonic tapestry" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

Brooklyn-based underground music veterans Jarvis Earnshaw and Trevor Dunnhave released 'Hypnagogia', their first collaborative album as the TRAVIS DUO. Together these well achieved artists mesh and warp jazz into a novel and unique experimental sitar-laden creature.

Multi-instrumentalist Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, John Zorn, The Melvins, Diatom Ribbons, Trio Convulsant, Endangered Blood) plays contrabass and percussion, while Jarvis Earnshaw (SYRINX-Series, Question, Harbinger, the Luke Stewart and Jarvis Earnshaw Quartet) contributes sitar, tape loops and vocals.

Recorded and mixed by legendary producer Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Herbie Hancock, Afrika Bambaataa, DNA, White Zombie, Ginger Baker, John Zorn) at his BC Studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn, this album was mastered by Josh Bonati(William S. Burroughs, Zola Jesus, Beaks>, Mort Garson 'Plantasia', Slowdive, Jenny Hval).
Aptly titled 'Hypnagogia' (\.hip-næ-‘gä-jia. of or pertaining to the period of the transitional state between waking life and dreams: hypnagogic hallucinations), this collection of improvisations was based on a set of line drawings and diagrams drawn during lucid dreams. The duo are also offering a series of audio-visual delights in support of this release, including for track 'Hitherto', 'FAQ', 'Fair Weather Friend', and the latest video for 'Uchouten / Sab Kuch Milega'.

'Hypnagogia' is bold and honest, weaving a tapestry of colours and pushing abstractions. They present an impressive hybrid of styles, whilst gently nestling on their pop roots. The kaleidoscopic overtones of the sitar dance elegantly with the charismatic and eloquent contrabass. This is psychedelic ethnic-flavoured jazz with a mean right hook.

This album features appearances by Daniel Carter (Yoko Ono, Sonic Youth, Jaco Pastorius, Yo La Tengo, William Parker, Cecil Taylor, Sun Ra), saxophonistDevin Brahja Waldman (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Thurston Moore),Sean McCaul (Philip Glass Ensemble 'Naqoyqatsi'), and drummer Niko Wood {Shake The Baby Til The Love Comes Out}.

"This album is a meeting of minds that cross generations, timelines and genres, as if ancestral cheerleaders were egging us on. The personnel age gap on this record spans 50 years, the youngest being in his 20s to the oldest in his 70s. Every member is a highly distinguished unique musician in their own right and at the top of their field, creating gorgeous music in every genre, pulling inspiration from our vast experiences of life - from Abstract Noise, Punk, Jazz, Rock, Hiphop to Chamber music and beyond. This has magically shaped this album, which extends beyond genre and is pure expression at its finest above and beyond boundaries," saysJarvis Earnshaw.

"I grew up in backwoods bumblef*ck countryside Japan and would have never imagined that I would be playing music with my hero Trevor Dunn. I still remember the first time I heard his band Mr. Bungle smash open my head with the bottlecracking 'Travolta'. 13-year old me was obsessed with the band, which has really shaped the person I am today. Martin Bisi, the humble legend, has produced most of the music I listened to growing up, which can probably be said by a lot of people. In many ways, this is a dream-come-true album and I still keep pinching myself or perhaps this is all just a lucid dream."

London-born, Jarvis Earnshaw spent most of his childhood in Japan, releasing his debut album at 15. Since graduating Bunka Gakuin Art School in Tokyo, he studied sitar in India, and is a graduate of Pratt Institute in New York. Both as a musician and visual artist, his work is recognized worldwide, having solo exhibitions, residencies and performances throughout the world, including Fuji Rock Festival, Europe, India and across America to New York's own Lincoln Center.

The 'Hypnagogia' album is out now, available as a limited edition of 500 albums on dark blue vinyl. The seven core tracks come with bonus track 'Lolloping Theta Broom Horse' and a16-page full-colour booklet. It can be pre-ordered directly from Earnshaw's own website or via Bandcamp.

Manchester’s Inca Babies reflects a hopeless state of geographic limbo on 'I'm Grounded'. 'Swamp Street Soul', their first LP in 7 years, is out now

"Their almost serpentine invention and dark musical incitements have continued to inspire and invigorate... one of the leading lights and template setting protagonists of British rock ‘n’ roll" ~ Ringmaster Review

"Coming in like a hurricane and tastefully blending rock, grunge, punk and blues, the Incas serve up unhinged sophistication and moody textures. Packing a big punch, their high octane sound is loaded with adrenaline and spunk" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Thirty years down the line the Inca Babies' recordings are not just a collection of outstanding songs from independent music's golden age... they remain pretty much a life statement; a declaration of intent" ~ Isolation Records

"Beautifully wrought... grows on you each time you listen to it. The production integrity is particularly notable and the twangy baseline sits in your brain well after listening" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"All the drive and spunk of an adrenaline-filled 30-something viper rocker" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"A distinctive presence around Manchester and beyond... t’s powerful and it’s punk. It’s great to see a forgotten band back on their own terms and thriving" ~ The Spill Magazine

Post-punk swamp-goth rockers Inca Babies present 'I'm Grounded', the latest single from their eighth studio album ‘Swamp Street Soul’.

Inca Babies is Harry Stafford (guitar, keys, vocals), bassist Vince Hunt (A Witness, Blue Orchids) and Rob Haynes (The Membranes, Goldblade) on drums and percussion. This collection of new tunes, drawn from their fantastic imagination, offers a hefty dose of the gritty sound that the Manchester-based deathrock / postpunk outfit have become known for over the decades since forming in 1983.

"This deal with the last few years as a reflection of geographical inactivity for someone who gets around and travels a lot the time of being; ‘square wheeled on the deck’, was particularly arduous. But it’s not just a 'lockdown' song, it was actually written before all the pandemic’s constraints kicked in. It began as a muse on being in a particularly hopeless state of limbo – which of course exacerbated itself once we were stuck at home watching the clock and trying to be creative," says Harry Stafford.

"‘I’m Grounded, I’m square wheeled on the deck, I’m grounded, my zeppelin’s a wreck’... The video spans the time at home as the seasons pass and our situation seems unlikely to improve… but appears to offer an understanding of who we are once we are placed outside of the impediments of work and have to face the habitual skirmish for survival as the calendar changes and the pages fall off."

Produced by Simon 'Ding' Archer (The Fall, PJ Harvey) at 6Db Studios, the clarity and fullness of sound on this 11-track offering surpasses that of any previous Inca release.

This is the first album in seven years, when the final release of their Death Blues Trilogy 'The Stereo Plan' was released in 2014, following 'Death Message Blues'(2010) and 'Deep Dark Blue' (2012).

‘Swamp Street Soul’ takes us across a tightly euphoric path of differing moods and new arenas of guitar songwriting. This LP continues the band's explosive exploration of goth-punk and death-rock and trash blues with epic cautionary ballads. Frontman Harry Stafford has written a fulsome collection of tall tales of madness, fearfully larger-than-life characters and extravagant yarns, backed by a no-nonsense rhythm section locked into a pounding backbeat.

Ahead of the album, the band also released the high octane overdrive single'Crawling Garage Gasoline' (along with b-side 'Grunt Cadillac Hotel' and lead track 'Walk In The Park' with a strutting blues beat, infectious guitar lick and bluesy post-punk musings.

A vibrant part of Britain's early postpunk / death rock scene, Inca Babies' story began in 1983 in the now-legendary deck-access flats of Hulme (Manchester), which were intended as ‘cities in the sky’ for young executives but quickly became cockroach-infested slums mostly inhabited by students, artists, and drug addicts. True to DIY ethos, they self-released their debut single 'Interior' in 1984.

With a further six singles and four albums over five years, all of which entered the UK Indie Charts, they also recorded four sessions for BBC's John Peel show in 1984-1988 before calling it quits. Since reforming in 2007, they've released three albums and toured extensively around Europe, including Russia, as well as North America and India. Renewed interest in the Incas was propelled by Cherry Red Records 'Best Of’ compilation release ‘Inca Babies 1983-87: Plutonium’.

The ‘Swamp Street Soul’ album is out now, available digitally everywhere, includingSpotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where it can be ordered directly from the band. It can also be obtained via the Louder Than War shop.
