Mark C Daniel releases new single "Sign Za Life"

NEW YORK, NY: Releases his new single/video for "Sign Za Life" (10/1). Mark C. Daniel shares that 2021 has been a wild ride so far and it kicked off with a phone call from one of Mark's long-time heroes Dean Deleo of Stone Temple Pilots. This excitement for music Mark continues to embody in the work he produces. His sound is a classic hard rock n roll buzz and the vibe he delivers is supremely notable.

Working with Mickey Curry on drums, and Marc Hickbox on bass all the crosshairs of great rock have converged into one. Along with the production value witnessed clearly on this single, "Sign Za Life", Mark once again places a notable order that signifies stellar rock n roll.

Mark knows just what great music can do and how it connects all of us, "I'm amazed how music brings us all together and am absolutely thrilled for this release. I very much look forward to sharing it with you." Mark C. Daniel

Without a doubt, the bands' listeners are ready to rock out to "Sign Za Life" too!

BAND MEMBERS: Mark C. Daniel - Vocals & Guitar,

Mickey Curry - Drums & Marc Hickox - Bass

“This was the last song we recording in this session and the first take of it. Mickey Curry - Drums(the Cult, Bryan Adams, Alice Cooper) felt like adding a few John Bonham-'esque punches in the Verses. It created an interesting dynamic and added a “Zeppelin Feel.” We are all huge Classic Rock fans so it felt great. I let the electric energy of the live room take over which is interesting in that I actually wrote this song on an acoustic as a slow-burning Blues song. It felt like we were going to go off the rails a few times but that’s exactly what gives the song its honesty and true to form edgy feel.” -Mark C. Daniel

Recorded: Horizon Studios, West Haven, CT USA

MWX Audio, Utica, NY USA

Engineered by: Vic Steffens, Matt Wagner

Mixed and Mastered by Matt Wagner

Ice Nine Kills Drop "Funeral Derangements"; Inspired By Stephen King Horror Classic Pet Sematary

Taken From Deadly New Album

THE SILVER SCREAM 2: WELCOME TO HORRORWOOD

Feat. Guest Vocal Performances From Jacoby Shaddix, Corpsegrinder, Brandon Saller, Buddy Nielsen and Ryan Kirby

Out This Friday, October 15th Via Fearless Records

Album Pre-Orders Available Now Here

Slashercore outfit, Ice Nine Kills have dropped the fourth and final new track from their upcoming album 'The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood' prior to its release this coming Friday, October 15th via Fearless Records. Today's offering submitted into evidence is titled "Funeral Derangements" and is inspired by the Stephen King horror classic, Pet Sematary. The accompanying music video features Horror icon Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses), a show stopping cameo from Miko Hughes, the actor from the original 1989 Pet Sematary, a cameo from Josh Katz from Badflower portraying the undead Victor Pascow and James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca creators of the wildly popular Dead Meat James "Kill Count" Youtube series. Stream the track here

Ice Nine Kills frontman and driving creative force, Spencer Charnas shares

"In perhaps the most ironic cameo in recent horror memory, we’ve tapped the amazing Miko Hughes, (Gage from the original Pet Sematary), to play the role of the reckless truck driver. An 18 wheeler, a twisted cat, a scalpel and an evil burial ground all come together in what I'd call our most ambitious homage yet. Dig in…"

The band also released their latest Nightmare On The Ninth merch capsule in conjunction with the new track/video. All items are available for a limited time here.

"Funeral Derangements" follows the release of previous singles "Rainy Day" 'Assault & Batteries' follows the release of "Hip To Be Scared", the first single from 'The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood', that paid homage to the Bret Easton Ellis classic, 'American Psycho'. The three tracks combined have already clocked up 15.7 million streams with 3.6 million YouTube views.

No matter how many advances there are in cinematography, practical effects, or CGI, there’s a single scene in the 1989 adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary almost unrivaled in its shockingness, and things only unravel for the characters from there. The story involves a burial ground capable of reanimating the dead, though the versions of pets (like Church, the movie’s family cat) and people that return are devastatingly malevolent. John Feldmann cowrote the track, lending a Bad Religion-style anthemic vibe. Bassist Joe Occhiuti spent time on the tour bus working on discordant noises to match some of the movie’s frightening animalism. It also contains some of the best lyrics of Spencer Charnas’ career, including, “It all began with a skid on the pavement / it ends now with Funeral Derangements / the flesh is living, but the souls have spoiled / the wrath of God lays beneath the soil.” Cue the mosh pit going wild.

A sequel of franchise proportions to the No. 1 Billboard Hard Rock Album 'The Silver Scream', 'The Silver Scream 2:Welcome to Horrorwood' doubles down in pursuit of the anthemic band’s cinematic muse.

Decadent, devious, and fiercely insane, with sardonic wit to spare, Ice Nine Kills celebrate pop culture’s darkest edges, mining a cinephile library’s worth of b-movie schlock and iconic horror on 'Welcome to Horrorwood:The Silver Scream 2' and it's prequel, 'The Silver Scream'. Physical pre-orders of the album are available now here.

Like the undead slashers celebrated in their songs, Ice Nine Kills return with The Silver Scream 2: Welcome to Horrorwood, a sequel of gruesome movie-sized proportion to their No. 1 Billboard Hard Rock Album, The Silver Scream. Welcome to Horrorwood carves out a fresh, bloody homage to the VHS celluloid classics that possessed singer Spencer Charnas at an early age, with a devilish new twist.

Drew Fulk (Motionless In White, Dance Gavin Dance, Pop Evil) produced The Silver Scream and returned for Welcome to Horrorwood. Album guests include Jacoby Shaddix (Papa Roach), George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher (Cannibal Corpse), Brandon Saller (Atreyu), Ryan Kirby (Fit For A King), and Buddy Nielsen (Senses Fail). The album mixes the melodies, riffs, and wit that are the band’s signature, as heard in the Top 10 Mainstream Rock single “A Grave Mistake” and Top 20 hit “Savages.”

Dan Sugarman (guitar), Ricky Armellino (guitar), Patrick Galante (drums), and Joe Occhuiti (bass) are the current co-conspirators behind Charnas, who founded the band as a teen in the early 2000s. Decadent, devious, and fiercely insane, Ice Nine Kills celebrate pop culture’s darkest edges, mining a cinephile library’s worth of iconic horror on The Silver Scream and The Silver Scream 2: Welcome To Horrorwood. The creative marriage made in hell of music and fiction began in earnest with the Top 5 Hard Rock album, Every Trick in the Book, which brought the previous three records’ themes to new levels.

The band’s synergy of music and lifestyle draws favorable comparisons to Slipknot and Rob Zombie. Visionary trailblazers and multimedia raconteurs, INK built a thrilling world for a growing legion of devoted true believers, with theatrical shows, high-concept videos, and inventive band-to-fan communion. Their wildly creative output has seen them become recent recipients of the prestigious Clio Award for Music Marketing for their "Merry Axe-mas" mobile game and their live streaming event from October 2020, The Silver Stream be nominated for 5 awards at this year's Horror Hound Film Festival Awards in the categories of Judges Choice, Best Sound, Best Supporting Performance, Best Cinematography and Best Feature. With over 1.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 410 million career streams to date, a combined social media reach of over 950k and over 73 million views on YouTube, the band are firmly cemented as one of modern metal's most vicious forces.

MISANTHUR Announces Debut Album, Releases First Single

The two prophets collected under the banner of MISANTHUR herald the fall and spiritual putridity of humanity by creating art resonating fully with pain, anxiety and degradation. Founded in Częstochowa, Poland in one night in 2015 by Hellscythe and Draugr, MISANTHUR begun to take form.

Inspired by metal and non-metal genres, MISANTHUR merge trance percussion, earthbreaking bass, crushing guitars and hellish vocals with (post)apocalyptic ambient landscapes and noise to create its own oeuvre and paint the stories and scenery of mundane spiritual wasteland.

The band’s debut record ‘Ephemeris’ was written with the aim of capturing the concept of personal degradation, one’s own journey into the deepest corners of consciousness, one’s own weaknesses, fears, and monsters hidden in ego and identity, in the context of the fragility and evanescence nature of human life.

The only constant thing is change. The only sure thing is entropy.

New Music From Black Foxxes

BLACK FOXXES TO RELEASE EXTENDED VERSION OF THEIR SELF-TITLED THIRD ALBUM – PRE-ORDER HERE

DIGITAL DELUXE FEATURES FOUR NEW TRACKS + ARRIVES SEPTEMBER 17

LISTEN TO "45"

"’Black Foxxes’ is an album that showcases the band’s sheer talent, proving them as not just one of the best alt-rock bands around, but one of the more interesting bands around. Period." — LINE OF BEST FIT

"More assured than ever… a band reinvigorated" —DORK

"There are just so many little touches that lift Black Foxxes from your usual post punk gee-tar drudgery offered by so many wannabes… an impeccable album” — NARC

"In avoiding the middle of the road, this trio has stumbled upon a new wellspring they’ve soon mastered how to draw from" — KERRANG!

Black Foxxes have announced an extended version of their critically acclaimed, self-titled album. Originally released back in January 2020, the new digital deluxe version features four brand new tracks and will be available on September 17 across all digital platforms.

Pre-order here.

"The digital deluxe release of this record is something we wanted to do immediately upon writing the songs a couple of years ago," the band explains. "We knew the length of the record would be too much to include everything in the initial release, but now that those first nine tracks have had time to set in for everyone, it feels like the perfect time to release the extended version."

Check out the brand new single "45"

"'45' was actually written years ago with the old line up," says Black Foxxes main man Mark Holley. "It just felt like a nod back to the early days of the band during the ‘I'm Not Well’ release. It's just straight up raw. With the way our band is writing music now it feels miles away from the heaviness of this sound, but that's one thing we said from the offset: that there would be absolutely no limits when it came to genres. It feels nice to throw in one of our heaviest tracks whilst writing some super wanky and pretentious album 4 material. Get a guy that can do both, y’ know?"

ABOUT BLACK FOXXES:

Over the course of two albums (2016's I'm Not Well and 2018's Reidl), Black Foxxes main man Mark Holley established his band as a potent creative force, carving out a signature spot on the emotive rock 'n' roll map backed by strong, growing support from fans and media alike. With singles/videos such as "Husk." "I'm Not Well," "JOY," and "Manic In Me," the clip for which was filmed in Iceland, a key source of influence for Album 2, it became increasingly clear that Holley is an artist prepared to shed protective layers — an artist with plenty to say and a particular way of tapping into thoughts, feelings, and fears. And now, with Album Number 3, the Bristol-based singer/songwriter/guitarist has done even more to bind music and personal message into a cohesive body of work — nine compelling tracks recorded quickly with a brand new rhythm section (drummer Finn McClean and bassist Jack Henley, a longstanding friend), plus a trusted team member in producer/mixer Ade Bushby, who helmed the desk on both previous outings. From the very start, the intention was to keep instinct, musical integrity and the chemistry between the players right at the fore, with no second-guessing of the market and no attempt to stem or to edit the musical flow — a flow that takes in synths, distorted vocals plus a battery of left-field sounds (inspired by Bristol’s alternative DIY culture), along with a broader range of lyrical subject matter. After 18 months spent searching for that "magic sweet spot," this is Black Foxxes in the raw, unfiltered, unfussed with. No rules, no labels, all on the line.

Dead Poet Society Release "I Never Loved Myself Like I Loved You" Video — Touring w/ Badflower This Fall

Los Angeles-based alt-rock outfit DEAD POET SOCIETY have released the video for their song "I never loved myself like I loved you," which is featured on their debut album -!- (said as "The Exclamation Album."). Watch it below

The video is an impromptu, one-take affair, which sees lead singer Jack Underkofler slowly unravel as he walks the streets of L.A.. Like much of -!-, the video highlights the emotional and self-reflective adversity that the band exercises through their music.

"This video was completely shot by accident," the band explains. "We were in the process of pre-production, getting test shots with our iPhones. We improvised a possible scene and ended up capturing a moment that resonated with us all so strongly that we felt we had to release it as the actual video itself. It's not perfect in terms of its aesthetic or technical value, but the imperfection is what this song is about. For us, this video captured the exact emotions and feelings that went into writing this song, and that's what matters."

Underkolfer recently spoke with The Recording Academy/GRAMMY.com for their ongoing segment "Herbal Tea & White Sofas."

Dead Poet Society are receiving some well-deserved recognition on the strength of their new album. The record's lead single, ".CoDA., " is the band's first track to chart in the Top 25 at Active Rock. The band also announced its first tour of 2021, supporting their longtime friends in Badflower on a North American run this fall. All dates are below.

DEAD CAN DANCE's LISA GERRARD & JULES MAXWELL present 'Orion (The Weary Huntsman)'

“The operatic tics of Gerrard’s voice merge with Maxwell’s anthemic, cinematic music spectacularly”MOJO Magazine

"Burn is as essential as anything else in Gerrard’s unique songbook" ~ theMusic.com.au

"Transformative vocals that are haunting and mesmerizing... vast auditory worlds that are easy to get lost in"
~ The Spill Magazine

Dead Can Dance frontwoman Lisa Gerrard and DCD member Jules Maxwell open a new audio-visual chapter in the 'Burn' album experience by revealing 'Orion (The Weary Huntsman)' with its breathtaking build from start to finish.

"Orion’s journey is long and at times heartbreaking," says Lisa Gerrard.

The accompanying video was created by David Daniels, who has created motion graphic design, art direction and projections for two Bryan Adams world tours, Led Zeppelin o2 concert, Roger Waters The Wall, Berlin, in addition to animated films showcased at Paris' Pompidou Centre, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte, Reina Sofia, Madrid and film festivals around the world.

"This video is composed of hundreds of photos from personal archive, overlaid and digitally treated, then overlaid again and again in an attempt to create an active painting, that moves from black and white to colour. A walk as such through a forest," says David Daniels.

"I could always hear how this track could evolve in a huge way sonically, and I was allowed the freedom to explore that. Lisa and Jules created a stunning, almost lullaby-type song, and we aimed to maintain that innocent beauty while also expanding the track sonically," says James Chapman (MAPS), who produced the 'Burn' LP, out now via Atlantic Curve, a London-based label that is part of the Schubert Music Europe.

This video follows the recently released singles 'Heleali (The Sea Will Rise)' and 'Aldavyeem (A Time To Dance)'. The entire album is euphoric and compelling; more inventive than what they had worked on separately in the past. From gentle beginnings, each track builds and intensifies, creating a hypnotic experience to listen to from start to finish.

'Burn' took root over seven years ago, when Lisa met Irish theatre composer Jules Maxwell and they began working together for the first time. Gerrard and Maxwell later began writing songs for their earlier collaboration for 'The Mystery Of The Bulgarian Voices (Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares)'.

Quickly sold out as a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) via the eco-friendly platform Hic Et Nunc, the ‘Burn’ LP is out now on vinyl, CD and digitally, available everywhere, including Apple Music, Spotify and at https://orcd.co/lisajulesburn.

Britain's The Gorstey Lea Street Choir present their much-anticipated 8-track album '...from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I' via Britain's 500 Broadcast Recording Co, following the gazey indie rock lead track 'Bluebird, Hollywood... Domino' and powerpop single 'That Chitty Bang Majik'.

The Gorstey Lea Street Choir are Michael Clapham and Russ Phillips, two friends whose musical collaboration is rooted in a friendship that blossomed over 35 years ago. Having met as teenagers in the mid-'80s, it took until 2016 for them to turn their teenage plans — discussed back when both were involved in aspiring Manchester bands — into a reality with the birth of this project.

Their music runs with the moods, widely described as dystopian, electric, hopeful, hopeless and thoughtful... The sort of sounds Henry Spencer would have played if he had a Sony Walkman. The album explores such themes as being isolation, lack of communication, escapism and Carpe Diem frustration.

This album was recorded at the Gorstey Shack and Magic Garden Studios in Wolverhampton with producer Gavin Monaghan (Robert Plant, Editors, Ocean Colour Scene, Scott Matthews, Squeeze, Goldblade) and mastered by Ride frontman / producer Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound Studio in Oxford.

Just as on 2020's 'extended play one', tracks 5-8 were mixed by legendary producer George Shilling (Blur, Primal Scream, Cathal Coughlan, Teenage Fanclub, Mike Oldfield) and re-imagined by Choque Hosein from Black Star Liner.

'... from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I' is a tale of two towns with 8 tracks conceived and mainly recorded in Burntwood with 4 songs re-imagined in Farsley. The first town in this story is Burntwood, Staffordshire, the Gorstey boys' hometown. Take 'Prince's Park' in Burntwood as the starting point in this journey, registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the UK's smallest park.

The second town is Farsley, Yorkshire. During 2020's lockdown, Michael reacquainted himself with a vinyl copy of 'Cresta' by The Hollow Me, which led him to ask the question 'I wonder what happened to Choque?'. Choque was a member of The Hollow Men' who Michael's then band 'The Great Divide' had supported back in the early 90's. Michael tracked Choque down via the World Wide Web to Farsley... and soon the Gorstey duo and Choque (also of Black Star Liner) were collaborating... you can hear his genius on 4 tracks here.

"We are really looking forward to folks hearing the rest of the LP, the 4 new tracks and the 4 re-imaginations of 'Extended Play One' tracks by Choque from Black Star Liner," says Michael Clapham.

‘…from Prince’s Park to Farsley - Volume I’ is the follow up to the duo's ‘extended play one’ album, which was released in December 2020 and received support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio, and a whole host of DAB and worldwide radio stations.

In 2018, Russ and Michael entered Wolverhampton's Magic Garden studios to work with old friend and producer legend Gavin Monaghan, resulting in their debut single 'The British Isles' featuring an inspired spoken-word intro from Joe Strummer. Chris Hawkins from BBC Radio 6 Music picked up on the track, kicking things off again after a 35-year hiatus.

As of July 9, the '...from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I' LP will be available everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp.

Indie Pop outfit The Mystery Plan announce new album, preview lead track 'Silver Lining' feat. Big Supreme

"Fantastic - Big Supreme shines brightly here against the backdrop of brilliant grooving trip-hop / hip-hop laden electronic backbeats and well-placed angelic vocals, creating the perfect pillow of Mystery Plan sound to lay this gem upon"Big Takeover Magazine

"A chilled, dreamy, hypnotic sound" Overblown Magazine

"Pulsing dance grooves, the sort of thing that Bristol’s underground scene revelled in during the 90’s, but then swathes itself in layers of shimmering sonics" ~ The Swindonian

"Pure sensual dreamtronica awash in haunting melodies. It's guaranteed to set the serotonin flowing in the farthest recesses of any late night minds"Guitar Magazine

"Marvelous work... stunning and shining funk-o-beauty" ~ Stereo Embers Magazine

Indie pop outfit The Mystery Plan has announced their new album 'You Also Have Eyes', set for release in mid-July via Ten Millimeter Omega Recordings. Produced by Jason Herring, Rob Tavaglione and the legendary John Fryer, this long-player continues a tradition of collaboration with Fryer that includes their 2020 'Zsa Zsa'record and 2017 'Queensland Ballroom' album.

The band are previewing the single 'Silver Lining' featuring Big Supreme on vocals. Written during the pandemic, this song is an ode to looking at the bright side of things. The accompanying live lounge-styled video was shot and cut by Jay Thomas in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Formed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2010, The Mystery Plan is Jason Herring, Amy Herring, Jefferson Chester, Otis Hughes and Patty McLaughlin. To date, they've released 11 EPs and LPs. Their new album also involves contributions by Micah Gaugh (The Veldt / Apollo Heights / Dope Sagittarius), Rob Tavaglione and Snap Nation.

"Sitting down to write 'Silver Lining', I knew I wanted to be upbeat and optimistic. I've known Big Supreme for decades now, and always loved his words and his flow. So I asked him if he would like to write something and record with us, and he said yes. I let him know, kind of, how I was feeling while writing the music. A few weeks later he sent me recordings of what he did with 'Silver Lining'. I loved it," says Jason Herring.

Big Supreme (a.k.a. Chris Jones) is a rapper from Charlotte, who has been on the scene since the 1990s. He got his start by winning rap battles on the local Hip-Hop station for months and months, holding the record for the longest run on that station. He is also the younger brother of Charlotte-based DJ and producer That Guy Smitty, who is half of Muchacho with Jason Herring.

"I was truly in a period of stagnation musically. The year 2020 was a tough year all around the world, but one thing it made me practice doing is going without in order to search within and create the necessary rituals needed for survival. I came out feeling more alive than ever. I've never been one to force the art; but when I heard the music The Mystery Plan had put together, I just let it play and let the spirit speak through me. What came out of it was a message of hope for 2021 and beyond. Life isn't perfect, but I truly believe that at the end of every struggle in life, there's a silver lining," explains Big Supreme.

The band's sixth full-length album, 'You Also Have Eyes' features select tracks from several of their records, including 'We All Get Down' (co-written, produced and mixed by Ian Masters of Pale Saints, Spoonfed Hybrid, ESP Summer). There are three new songs exclusive to this CD and digital edition - 'Silver Lining, 'Weird Things Humans Do', and the Peter Anderson (the Ocean Blue) mix of 'Wonder Why'.

'Silver Lining' is available now across online platforms, including Spotify and Bandcamp. The 'You Also Have Eyes' LP is out on July 16 on vinyl, CD and digitally, with the CD and digital releases entailing expanded editions. The album can be pre-ordered directly from the band.

Parody Metallers NANOWAR OF STEEL Reveal New Song + Appetizing Video for “La Polenta Taragnarock”

New Album, Italian Folk Metal, out this Friday

Get Your Copy NOW!

After temporarily transforming into a pop boyband, NANOWAR OF STEEL are back with their beloved brand of comedy infused heavy metal on their new album, Italian Folk Metal, to be released this Friday via Napalm Records!

On their brand new offering, the five-piece takes its fans on a journey through the roots of their beautiful homeland. Starting with the first single “Der Fluch des Käptn Iglo”, an homage to the all beloved fried dish fishsticks by Captain Findus, followed by hilarious power metal anthem “Gabonzo Robot”, Parody metallers NANOWAR OF STEEL express their love for polenta on the new single "La Polenta Taragnarok”!

NANOWAR OF STEEL on the song:

“La Polenta Taragnarock is more than a song. It is also more than just food. It is an anthem which we wrote one year ago on a direct livestream with our fans, and merges our two souls - Italian food lovers and metal addicted vikings - into a single product. Moreover, we managed to get our hero and master of stainless steel Giorgio Mastrota to sing and act with us in the video. It's a dream embodied in 500gr of golden, tasty corn flour.”

Watch the appetizing video for “La Polenta Taragnarock”

With joyful, melodic melodies and an epic chorus, NANOWAR OF STEEL once again prove themselves to be not only aficionados of comedy, but also undeniably skilled musicians that can pull off amazing guitar solos! With several millions of cross-platform streams and views racking up from all over the world, NANOWAR OF STEEL are on the frontlines of comedic and parody-infused metal!

Pre-Order Italian Folk Metal HERE:

Filled with references to Italian folklore, NANOWAR OF STEEL puts its own comedic metal twist on the various traditional sounds of their beautiful country. Each song on Italian Folk Metal is performed in a distinct style of Italian folk music: Napoli-based sounds of musica neomelodica clash with melodic guitar sweeps on “Scugnizzi of the Land of Fires” and speedy accordions (prominently known from northern Italy‘s mazurka) are layered with dizzying guitar solos on “La Mazurka del Vecchio che Guarda i Cantieri”. Mixed with the band’s eclectic, comprehensive brand of catchy, comedy-infused metal, Italian Folk Metal is a truly multi-faceted listening experience and a deep dive into the roots of Italy’s folklore!

In the process of recording the new album in Rome and Milan during the summer of 2020, NANOWAR OF STEEL took the Italian-focused theme as an opportunity to gather Italy’s crème de la creme of musicianship: the album features Francesco Paoli from FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE on “L’assedio di Porto Cervo”, Alessandro Conti of LUCA TURILLI’S RHAPSODY and TRICK OR TREAT fame on “La Mazurka del Vecchio che guarda i Cantieri”and FROZEN CROWN’s Jade on “Rosario”, among others. Italian Folk Metal showcases NANOWAR OF STEEL’s musical versatility at its best!

NANOWAR OF STEEL are:

Gatto Panceri 666 - Bass

Potowotominimak – Vocals

Mr. Baffo – Vocals

Abdul – Guitar

Uinona Raider – Drums

XTC legend Colin Moulding to release 'The Hardest Battle' on CD via Burning Shed

Music legend and XTC co-frontman Colin Moulding is back with new music, this time as a solo artist, presenting his new single 'The Hardest Battle', which will be released as a CD single in 4-panel digisleeve via Burning Shed on July 2.

Containing two songs - 'The Hardest Battle', 'Say It (original version)', and an exploratory demo of the title track, The Hardest Battle represents XTC founding member Colin Moulding's first-ever fully solo release.

This release offers a tantalizing glimpse into the creative process of one of the UK's finest songwriters, showcasing Colin’s English pop vision with XTC's trademark qualities of melody, rhythm, variety, and idiosyncratic subject matter, mixed in with nostalgia and a degree of pensiveness.

Following two releases with original XTC drummer Terry Chambers under the TC&I moniker - the 'Great Aspirations' EP and the album 'Naked Flames: Live at Swindon Arts Centre', 'The Hardest Battle' is the first new material from Moulding in many years.

“To be nobody but yourself - in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you like everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle any human being can fight”... I saw these lines in a book I picked up in a secondhand bookshop and thought…maybe there’s a song there …I think it’s by the poet EE Cummins," says Colin Moulding.

"And there it was. All I had to do was come up with some music to marry to this notion. I do think most people aren’t themselves really, or become themselves eventually. And that struggle isn’t easy. I recorded this pretty much in isolation as most people have been this past year or so. One crazy year for all of us. Perhaps ‘The Hardest Battle’ we humans have faced externally, as well as the one we fight internally everyday,"

Founded in 1972, XTC only had their first UK charting single in 1979. Moulding wrote the first three charting singles ('Life Begins at the Hop', 'Making Plans for Nigel' and 'Generals and Majors'). Moulding continued with frontman Andy Partridge through the group's dissolution in 2006. In 1984, they also, along with XTC bandmate Dave Gregory and Ian Gregory, formed The Dukes of Stratosphear, anticipating and celebrated by retro-minded movements such as the Paisley Underground.

"About 'Say It', I just felt this track deserved a better fate than it got really. I wrote it for the XTC album that never was . But it ended up on a promo disk amongst XTC’s ‘Last Days of Rome’ This version feels much more akin to my original song mindset compared to the expedient I agreed to at the time," says Colin Moulding.

Regarding 'The Hardest Battle (First Exploratory Demo)', Moulding adds, "I think demos are much more of a demonstration to ones self than for other people. You have to find out what works and what doesn’t. Therefore, you shoot from the hip and just fire it out, and see what sticks. Larkin always said that he didn’t know what his poems were about initially until he got some way into them ;- that’s what this is;- I’m just ‘Larkin' around until it presents itself. Then the crossword puzzle can begin."

Officially out on July 2, 'The Hardest Battle' can be ordered on CD single exclusively via Burning Shed at https://burningshed.com/store/colin-moulding_store/colin-moulding_the-hardest-battle_cd

GREEN LUNG Announce New Album 'Black Harvest', Premiere First Single "Leaders of the Blind"

GREEN LUNG have re-emerged from their mulchy catacombs to present the follow-up to their debut album, Woodland Rites. 'Black Harvest' will be released this autumn on October 22nd via Svart Records. The first single from the record, "Leaders of the Blind", is streaming now via Decibel Magazine. Black Harvest will be available on heavy-weight vinyl, CD, and digital formats, and is available to pre-order here ahead of its release.

LISTEN TO "LEADERS OF THE BLIND" via DECIBEL

GREEN LUNG vocalist Tom Templar comments: "After reissuing Woodland Rites we were beset by the plague and the cancellation of our tour schedule. But these events gave us the chance to hide away like hermits in the middle of nowhere and create the definitive soundtrack to the folk horror film in our heads. We are grateful to all our fans for their patience, and we can’t wait to finally bring these songs to life onstage later this year."

Recorded at Giant Wafer Studios in rural mid-Wales over the course of two weeks with longtime producer Wayne Adams (Petbrick, Big Lad), before being mastered by John Davis at Metropolis (Led Zeppelin, Royal Blood), it’s a more expansive and textured record than anything the band have done before, boasting a cinematic quality and more attention to detail. All samples were sourced from the local countryside and from instruments found in the studio, including the haunting opening vocal of The Harrowing which was recorded on a whim after the band broke into the local church (the organ can be heard creaking in the background).

Picking up where the self-released Woodland Rites left off, on Black Harvest, GREEN LUNG continues to draw inspiration from Britain's rich history of folklore, from witchcraft, and from cultish horror films. Nature - as always - is woven into the fabric of the songs; this time around the album was recorded in late autumn, and the seasonal atmosphere seeped into the music, which is redolent of mists, falling leaves, and the crumbling glory of the Magnificent Seven cemeteries of London, the city the band calls home.

GREEN LUNG will play a series of dates to support the album in September 2021, including an album launch show at The Dome, Tufnell Park on September 1.

9.2.21 / Manchester / The Bread Shed

9.3.21 / Edinburgh / Opium

They are also booked for Bloodstock Festival 2021, Damnation Festival 2021, and Desertfest 2022.

DEE SNIDER Joined by Cannibal Corpse Frontman George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher on Blistering New Track "Time To Choose"

Watch the New Video for "Time To Choose" HERE

Fifth Full-Length Solo Album, Leave A Scar, out July 30 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order HERE

Legendary heavy metal vocalist and pop culture icon DEE SNIDER recently announced the upcoming release of his triumphant fifth full-length album, Leave A Scar, out July 30, 2021 via Napalm Records. Once again produced by Jamey Jasta with co-production, mixing and mastering by drummer Nick Bellmore, Leave A Scar sees DEE SNIDER & Co. continuing in the invigorated, modern direction of his previous release, For The Love Of Metal, infusing a dose of classic heavy metal flavor that longtime fans will rush to embrace.

Today, following the album's charging first single of resilience, “I Gotta Rock (Again)” (which instantly reached SiriusXM Liquid Metal's Devil's Dozen upon release), DEE SNIDER is thrilled to reveal the album's second single, "Time To Choose", featuring the brutalizing vocals of Cannibal Corpse’s George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher. Backed by an energetic lyric video, the track blends Corpsegrinder’s eviscerating lows with DEE SNIDER’s razor sharp cleans, making for a dynamic yet ruthless burner listeners won’t soon forget!

DEE SNIDER says about “Time To Choose”:

"‘Time To Choose’ deals with a subject I've addressed often over the course of my writing career: good vs. evil (see ‘Burn In Hell’). Given the heaviness of this track, I felt adding George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher's voice to this would drive home the seriousness of the choices we make. I was honored when he agreed to contribute his incredibly powerful voice."

Watch the new lyric video for “Time To Choose” HERE:

Like a scar itself, Leave A Scar is an illuminating plentitude of angst etched in time – serving as a musical refuge and expressive output for Dee. But in turn, this auditory time capsule written to express the anger, unease and pain he experienced during lockdown emerges as not only blisteringly heavy, but relentlessly powerful. Each of the 12 tracks on Leave A Scarnot only further bolster DEE SNIDER’s position as one of the most celebrated frontmen of all time, showcasing that his vocal delivery and commanding swagger is as strong as ever, but that he is nowhere near stopping.

Heads will bang within seconds of the hard-charging opening notes of ultra-catchy album starter and lifer anthem “I Gotta Rock (Again)”, instantly setting the stage for the non-stop onslaught of metallic mainstays to come. Tracks like the brutal “Time To Choose” – featuring the primed guest vocal attack of Cannibal Corpse’s George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher – and mosh-ready “The Reckoning” showcase the album’s heavy assault, without sacrificing the harmonic goodness evident on tracks like the unrelenting, hooky thrasher “All Or Nothing More” and melodic, metalcore inspired “In For The Kill”. Energetic single of strength “Down But Never Out” encapsulates the chunky riffage and driving drums palpable throughout the album, while searing “Before I Go” provides one of the album’s most massive, memorable choruses and chilling lyrics. The album closes with victorious ballad “Stand”, a call for listeners to take a stand and make their voices heard. If For The Love Of Metal ignited DEE SNIDER’s eminent surge into a new era – Leave A Scar sets it ablaze.

DEE SNIDER says about Leave A Scar:

“By the end of 2020, I knew I not only had to get back into the studio, but for the first time since the '90s, I wanted – no, needed – to be a part of the writing process. I reached out to my producer Jamey Jasta and told him I was ready to make another record. Leave a Scar is filled with messages to and for the silent voices in the world who need someone to speak out on their behalf. This is my purpose.”

Jamey Jasta says regarding working with DEE SNIDER again:

“Getting to work with Dee again has been incredible! The power and range in his vocals on this album really shine. Not only is he an American treasure and staple in the rock/metal community, he’s a truly original voice and talent like no other. Combine that with the metallic prowess of the Bellmore bros + Russell Pzütto and Nick Petrino, you get a rockin’ metal recipe that even the most "Dee-hard" SMF’ers will surely love!”

Pennies By The Pound release 'Heat Death of the Universe' LP with support from Ride's Mark Gardener

"Pennies By The Pound have more in common with 60s psych-driven rock and 80s American college rock than with their Fenno-Scandian peers. Such a big and extravagant classic psychedelic rock. Wherever they may draw their influences from, one thing is for sure: this is brilliant music for here and now, wherever that may be" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

“There’s special cases like Susitaival, who will forever remain as a 90’s teenager, regardless of how the world changes or how one’s body might age” ~ Niko Peltonen (Soundi)

"A trippy ride that recalls the familiar vibes and sounds of none other than Bob Mould, The Church / Marty Willson-Piper, Marillion and Jethro Tull. Yes, all of them and yes, this is actually possible. Loads of flair and professionalism from the band" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Indeed a wonderful affair... Pennies By the Pound should be on everyone’s radar as a must-have album of 2021 and a band to watch in future" ~ The Record Stache

mail-50.jpeg

Finnish prog-psych rockers Pennies By The Pound have released their album 'Heat Death of the Universe' via Lilith Records, mastered by Ride frontman Mark Gardener at his OX4Sound Studio near Oxford. This long-player was produced, recorded and mixed by Rauli 'Rake' Eskolin, a rather achieved Finnish producer who has worked on over a dozen No. 1 records in Finland in the past 20 years.

Pennies By The Pound's sound blends '80s prog rock and '90s-early '00s alternative rock - essentially heavily guitar-driven with a touch of keyboards... Big choruses, quite a few guitar and keyboard solos and grandiose arrangements.

"Lyrically, there is a loose theme on the album about the way people continue to actually socially distance themselves from others (even without or before the pandemic) due to the influence of social media and maybe the internet in general. The album title is a nod to that, the "heat death of the universe" being the lack of and eventual end of real-life social connections between people," says Johannes Susitaival.

Hailing from Helsinki, Pennies by the Pound was formed in 2016 by Johannes Susitaival as a solo project, but it quickly became a three-piece involving musicians from his past bands. Ahead of this, the band previewed lead track 'Indigo Screams', along with accompanying lyrics video.

While still part of a punk rock band, Johannes began exploring some quite different musical avenues, which led to the self-produced 'Bloodshed and the Blinding Sunlight' EP in 2018. Having found their ideal producer after several years of searching, they began recording demos in 2019 for what would become this album. Due to the pandemic, they were finally able to record these tracks in autumn of 2020.

"This album is rooted in the fact that I became heavily interested in '80s Marillion a few years ago, especially the 'Clutching at Straws' LP. You can definitely hear the influence on the record, but there's a lot of '80s Rush too, spiced up with contemporary influences like Muse and Radiohead. As an artist, I've always been hesitant to make records that sound the same as the previous ones I've done, so the sound keeps evolving," says Johannes Susitaival.

"I wanted to make a record that is borderline ridiculous, in some ways, and definitely not very contemporary. Then again, for the first time in my life, I had a chance to work with a producer, whose work I have admired since the turn of the millennium and this definitely influenced the album and its sound".

The 'Heat Death of the Universe' album is out as of May 21. It can be obtained directly from the band via Bandcamp, as well as the standard platforms like Apple Music and Spotify.

Phoenix dream-electronic artist FLDPLN (Andrew Saks) presents 'Escalator' single, previewing new LP

"A whole new world of electronic-based dreampop... With a perfect sense of space and symmetry, Saks’ particular sonic trajectory presents a sound unlike pretty much anything else out there on the ambient-pop-gaze music landscape" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Electronic reverie... there is some continuity between the blissful escapism of Saks' previous band Sway and FLDPLN... ecstatic yet chill, and harmonious while offering an unexpectedly welcome fusion" ~ The Record Stache

"Up up and away in bliss... an artist that definitely should be explored... dreamy, blissfully textural" ~ Amplify Music Magazine
Phoenix-based dream-electronic artist FLDPLN presents his new single 'Escalator', previewing his full-length album by the same name. Scheduled for release on July 30, it will be available both digitally and on color vinyl via the label Sillas Famosas.

FLDPLN (“field-plan”) is the new solo project of Andrew Saks, former frontman of Southern California shoegaze band Sway ('The Millia Pink and Green' EP, 'This Was Tomorrow'). Here, he creates electronic-based dreampop that is deeply influenced by 80s pop with shoegaze-like textures and ambient aesthetic, created by layered saxophones and synths.

A mostly electronic project that generally defies genre pigeonholing, FLDPLN is an outlet for dreamy, blissfully textural songs featuring synthesizers, vocals and layered saxophones. Saks effectively captures blissful feelings, sharing them with spirits seeking a sense of nostalgia.

'Escalator' was written, produced, recorded and mixed by Andrew Saks at his home studio in Phoenix, Arizona. This follows up his 2018 album 'Let You Down' and his 2021 single 'Cashout', release in 2021.

“Escalator is really the result of my years of dabbling in electronic music production combined with my desire to reconnect with my roots, having been a saxophone player for most of my life," says Andrew Saks.

"For this album, I wanted to write songs that are true to the way I hear things in my head, dreamy, blurry, beautiful without compromise and incorporate the horn as a textural instrument as well as another melodic voice.”

A short time after Sway disbanded, Andrew (who handled half of the guitar duties in the band) decided to put down the guitar and return with resolve to his first love - the saxophone - which he has played from the age of 12.

The idea behind FLDPLN was to incorporate his love for electronic music production and early 90’s post-punk sensibilities, while allowing saxophones and synthesizers to be used to fill-in texturally, where guitars have typically been the fundamental building element of the “shoegaze” and “dream pop” sub-genres.  Saxophone textures are layered, at times co-mingling with synthesizers to create a soft, warm bed of sound, the perfect backdrop for the whisper-like vocals reminiscent of Andrew’s hushed voice with Sway.

At times, Andrew’s horn playing features soaring leads that lift the dreamlike and serene to near-anthemic heights while, in other instances, they convey an emotional, whisper-like voice. While certainly nowhere near new to experimental music, the tone and texture of the saxophone in this context effectively lends itself to ethereal lullabies and reflective daydreams.

While textures and sound are an integral component of the music, Andrew does not shy away from hook-laden songwriting. This music is highly influenced by childhood memories of going to bed each night, falling asleep with Walkman headphones on and later waking up in the darkness, in a partial dream-state with the pop songs of the 1980’s - Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Bruce Springsteen, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, Debbie Gibson, Human League still whispering in his ears.

The 'Escalator' single is now available everywhere across online stores, such as Apple Music, and streaming platforms like Spotify. The full 'Escalator' LP will released on July 30 and can already be pre-ordered digitally and on color vinyl via Bandcamp.

"Pleading, swirling Powerpop that clearly references the heroic Pop of the 80’s with a contemporary bent' ~ Fresh On The Net

"A ridiculously talented duo... sublime" ~ Egg Box Essentials

"This group is fantastic, creating a landscape of sonic adrenaline-powered dream-rock bliss... somewhere between Ride’s Carnival of Light, Kula Shaker and Ocean Colour Scene. Somewhere we’re happy to be taken" ~ The Record Stache

Britain's The Gorstey Lea Street Choir present 'That Chitty Bang Majik', a propulsive upbeat brass laden indie pop track that builds to a crescendo of question and answer vocals, it's main lyrical themes being isolation, lack of communication, escapism and 'Carpe Diem frustration.

This is the second taster from their forthcoming 8-track album '...from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I', to be released via Britain's 500 Broadcast Recording Co. This single follows up the release of lead track 'Bluebird, Hollywood... Domino'.

Recorded at the Gorstey Shack (Russ’s converted garage) and Magic Garden Studios in Wolverhampton with producer Gavin Monaghan (Robert Plant, Editors, Ocean Colour Scene, Scott Matthews, Squeeze, Goldblade), 'That Chitty Bang Majik' was mixed by legendary producer George Shilling (Blur, Primal Scream, Cathal Coughlan, Teenage Fanclub, Mike Oldfield) and mastered by Ride frontman / producer Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound Studio in Oxford.

"The song came about last January after a Christmas repeat that we had both watched of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' Michael stated, 'we love the film and the soundtrack and we started discussing 'the flying car'' and before you know it '...that Chitty Bang Magic' was born," says Russ Phillips.

"This song represents the poppier side of our indie credentials whilst still retaining our core vibe, 12 string guitars chime alongside brass punctuations and Moog synths, with the two vocal Gorstey chant upfront, telling the story of the track. We are really looking forward to folks hearing the rest of the LP in early July when it arrives, the 4 new tracks and the 4 re-imaginations of 'Extended Play One' tracks by Choque from Black Star Liner," says Michael Clapham.

Based in the former Staffordshire mining town of Burntwood, their music runs with the moods, widely described as dystopian, electric, hopeful, hopeless and thoughtful... The sort of sounds Henry Spencer would have played if he had a Sony Walkman.

As of June 22, 'That Chitty Bang Majik' will be available everywhere digitally, including Apple Music and Spotify. The '...from Prince's Park to Farsley - Volume I' LP, set for release on July 9, can be pre-ordered via Bandcamp.

SCAR OF THE SUN Releases New Lyric Video for Intense Offering “Anastasis”

Get The New Album, Inertia, NOW!

Inertia is a scar deeper than love! A scar engraved in your heart imploring you to listen to it

again and again. Well done guys!”

(Sakis - Rotting Christ)

"Inertia shows a maturity and experience beyond their years. Emotionally impactful yet violently raging in all the right ways. Incredible all the way through!"

(Mikael Stanne – Dark Tranquillity)

“With their new release Inertia SCAR OF THE SUN set the bar high for Modern Metal!”

(Seth - Septicflesh)

After recently releasing their third full-length album, Inertia, via Napalm Records, Greek modern metal five-piece SCAR OF THE SUN now drops an intense lyric video for album closing song “Anastasis”, which in their native language means “resurrection”. Its heaviness, together with an emotional vocal performance from singer Terry Nikas, immediately indicates a deep, personal meaning that pierces the listener to the bone.

Terry Nikas on the song:

"'Anastasis' is the closing song of our new album Inertia, definitely it is emotionally the heaviest song we have ever created. It's an homage to a very close person of mine and I felt like doing something in order never to be forgotten. It's something everyone can relate. Life is full of scars and I wanted to make this scar stand out of the rest."

Greece’s SCAR OF THE SUN lends a voice to social injustice, merging scientific lyricism

with energetic modern metal!

On Inertia, SCAR OF THE SUN utilizes scientific terminology to transmit their impassioned messages of difficult trials and social awareness lyrically, conveying an overarching theme that reflects one of society’s heaviest burdens – that financial gain has flourished at the expense of humanity and the livelihoods of everyday people. Instrumental intro “Hydrogen”stirs things up before kicking in with uncompromising title track “Inertia”, while the “Quantum Leap Zero”-trilogy conveys very intense and dramatic events that occurred in Greece in 2015: Suppression, rise/revolution and huge defeat in the end. Beginning with “Quantum Leap Zero I: Torque Control”, SCAR OF THE SUN unveils a whole new instrumental facet of the record, splicing their soundscapes with distinctively desolate vibes. “Quantum Leap Zero II: Transition To Turbulence”, on the other hand, calls for an untamed storm to annihilate everything, followed by atmospheric “Oxygen”, smashing “The Fallible Experiment” and poignant trilogy-closer “Quantum Leap Zero III: Thrust”. Inertia ends with “Anastasis” (Greek for “resurrection”), an intense track about the terrible pain of losing someone you love. With this closer, SCAR OF THE SUN manages to put agony into words and turn this palpable despair into emotive music.

SCAR OF THE SUN about the album:

“Third strike, this album is our punch to the world disarray! The most aggressive album we’ve done so far indicates our current intentions! The main concept of Inertia deals with how financial interests act against the lives of everyday normal people, no matter where you come from, since profit knows no ethics and nationalities.

We become lab rats and we struggle in our everyday life while at the same time that extreme minority that runs the financial interests see people like numbers and value our lives like ants. These are matters that concern and annoy me and I had to get them out of my chest.

Instrumental intro “Hydrogen” stirs things up before kicking in with hard-hitting title track “Inertia”, evoking a truly thunderous verse and, propelled by blasting drums, leads into an undeniably catchy chorus, while the “Quantum Leap Zero”-trilogy conveys very intense and dramatic events that occured in Greece in 2015: Suppression, rise/revolution and huge defeat in the end.

Inertia was recorded and mixed by singer and songwriting mastermind Terry Nikas at Zero Gravity Studios in Athens, Greece and mastered by the legendary Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Dimmu Borgir) at Fascination Street Studios, Sweden.
