Icelandic Tech Death battalion OPHIDIAN I will be releasing their new album, 'Desolate,' on July 16, making it their debut to Season of Mist! The band is now releasing the mind-blowing new single, "Spiral to Oblivion!" The song and its accompanying music video, which was created by Ásgeir Helgi Þrastarson, can be heard here.

The band comments on the new album and track: "‘Spiral To Oblivion’ was among the first songs we wrote for the album and has been a band-favourite since its inception. With this song we wanted to make a very death metal oriented song but keep prominent focus on the attributes we were striving for with the album and sound of the band as a whole - memorable melodies and solid structure & composition. To sustain apt harmonious guidance, the guitar leads and melodies became a centrepiece of this song. As with many other songs on the album the guitar leads serve as the central source of melody and are present throughout the bulk of the song. We feel that we ended up with a full-force, tech-death banger that we can’t wait to play live. Our friend Ásgeir Helgi did a great job on the video; capturing the spirit and essence of OPHIDIAN I."

With a clear goal of reaching the apex of technical metal in terms of proficiency, arrangements and sound, OPHIDIAN I has produced the destructive full-length album ‘Desolate’.

Emerging from Iceland; the barren island in the north, home to apocalyptic weather, eruptions, and storms. The breeding intensity, blazing speed, and ferocity of OPHIDIAN I reflects the chaos it hails from as well as the inherent beauty and complex harmony. Consisting of familiar faces within the Icelandic scene as members of bands such as Helfró, Beneath, Une Misère and Atrum; OPHIDIAN I set forth with the intent of testing the boundaries of the extreme, while retaining focus on composition and arrangements.

After getting together and realizing the goal was within reach, the band spent days upon days in the rehearsal space expanding and calibrating their physical and mental abilities in order to actualize the envisioned form of OPHIDIAN I. Bound and determined to create an absolute no-compromise piece of work, OPHIDIAN I headed to the studio after having honed in on the direction and arrangements of the 10 songs that were to become ‘Desolate’. Remaining extremely meticulous throughout the process, the methodically performed tracks were handed over to Christian Donaldson (THE GRID) for mixing and mastering. To finalize the vision, Eliran Kantor took to creating artwork fitting the forementioned direction and soundscape. With the completion of ‘Desolate’ the raison d’être of OPHIDIAN I had been established and partially fulfilled. Bringing the ferocity to the masses is now a central objective.

Incessantly at work, OPHIDIAN I is a monumental brute-force to be reckoned with. Amidst the dominant roster at Season of Mist, OPHIDIAN I will be unyielding in their claim to be amongst the titans of the industry. Necronautical Announce Fourth Album + Share "Hypnagogia" Video

BLACK METAL BAND TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM SLAIN IN THE SPIRIT ON AUGUST 20 VIA CANDLELIGHT RECORDS

UK-based black metal act Necronautical have returned with the video for their new single "Hypnagogia."

The band also announced its fourth album Slain In the Spirit, due out August 20 via Candlelight/Spinefarm Records.

"We are proud to announce the release of our fourth album Slain in the Spirit," the band says. "Produced once more by Chris Fielding at Foel Studio, as well as featuring guest performances from soprano vocalist Victoria Harley, this album represents our most ambitious and contorted material to date. With this announcement, we are pleased to share a taste of things to come through our latest single and music video for 'Hypnagogia.'"

Necronautical have always explored the darkness. Their very name means "to explore death." It's fitting that on Slain In The Spirit, the Manchester band is pushing both its sound and their concept to the outer limits.

Since forming in 2010, Necronautical have become respected among the British black metal underground. Across three albums — 2014's Black Sea Misanthropy, 2016's The Endurance At Night and 2019's Candlelight Records debut Apotheosis — their sound has become one rich in its skill with the dark side of metal. Ambitious and grandiose in its symphonic touches, this velvet glove hides beneath it an aggressive iron fist.

Indie pop artist Ender Bender presents his new single 'Have A Good Time', a retro-wave offering that is the first taster of his 'New Era' EP, scheduled for release in late June. Loaded with future-retro pop earworms, this EP is intended by Olguin as both an escape and a reminder of what is important - a soundtrack to help you enjoy yourself and have a good time.

Ender Bender is the solo project of composer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Eddie Olguin. The material on thiss new 5-track electro synthwave offering was written last summer in defiance of the spirit-crushing pandemic and his new obsession with the emerging retrowave/chillwave movement.

"Most of the music I have been listening to has a fun-retro 80s vibe, which served as the perfect distraction from the reality we were dealing with. This inspired me to create an EP that would also serve as an escape for others while positively touching upon the things we were forced to face, like the importance of friends and family and of truly leaving behind the petty bullshit that takes over our daily existence - we simply need to enjoy the beauty of life," says Eddie Olguin.

After years of living an adventurous rock-and-roll life in Los Angeles, Eddie Olguin moved to Rome in the name of love, but also found new energy and inspiration (void of scenes and scenesters) to reinvigorate his passion for music and redesign his musical career path.

Once settled in Rome, Olguin built a studio and made the transition from being a live performer to primarily a studio musician-producer. Thus was born Ender Bender - a new catalyst for his new mission.

With the Covid pandemic encouraging more time in the recording studio, 2020 motivated Eddie to hone his production skills and to begin composing instrumental cinematic cues. This led to scoring several corporate demos (for the development of a virtual reality game) and, ultimately, working as part of a busy collective of LA film composers. He has been working as a film composer ever since.

In 2020, Ender Bender debuted with his 'EQ' EP and singles 'Star Killer'and 'Honey Lavender Girl', released soon after the lockdown frenzy began. His first foray into studio production, this release garnered super reviews and international radio play.

Two Scottish alternative music legends - Chris Connelly and the incomparable Monica Queen - 'My Father Took Me Everywhere', present the new single from their collaborative album 'The Birthday Poems', to be released on June 15 via Jnana Records.

This album is a fictionalized account of the romance between celebrated Scottish poet and author George Mackay Brown and his muse Stella Cartwright, as well as Stelle's friendship with Edinburgh born poet Stanley Roger Green, spanning three decades (from the mid 1950s until Stella’s tragic and untimely death in 1985).

Named for the poems that George would write for Stella every birthday until she died, 'The Birthday Poems' is a song cycle based on the relationship between these highly signifiant cultural figures of 20th-century Scotland. Stella’s voice is sung by Monica Queen throughout this colossal and historically significant 18-track album.

The video for 'My Father Took Me Everywhere' stars Monica Queen as Stella. Inspired by the 1964 short film 'Palindrome' by Margaret Tait, which features some of the only known footage of Stella Cartwright, this video was created by Iain W. Mutch / Walkerandwilliam.

Kknown as the Muse of Rose Stree, Stella had an unique upbringing, which contributed to her love of literature. As a young girl attending Mary Erskine School for Girls in Edinburgh, Stella would ravenously devour literature, art and music. Her father would often take her to bars, parties, the theatre and other social and cultural events, where she would meet and charm Scotland's cultural elite.

The duo also recently shared the lead track 'Tae The Poets', featuring swaggering vocals by Connelly, the clever video for which was filmed on location at Chicago’s GMan Tavern and created by photographer Derick Smith and Matt Walker.

With 2021 being the 100th birthday of Orkney-born poet George Mackay Brown, this album represents a sometimes overlooked but very important part of Scottish culture. Stella had a deep relationship with Mackay Brown, which turned into a friendship enduring from the 50’s until her death in the ’80’s. It was not always a joyous one - neither of the pair were particularly happy, and their love of whisky did not help.

"While she had relationships with many of the poets who would haunt the bars of Edinburgh's Rose Street during the ’50s and ‘early ’60s, her love of literature, art and culture was insatiable. She was never given credit or encouraged in her own art and expression. I hope that this album illuminates the beautiful treasure that she was, and how hugely significant she is to Scottish literature of a certain era," says Chris Connelly.

"As a child and younger man in Edinburgh, I walked the same streets, drank in the same bars and walked the same hills. I was also lucky enough to be close friends with Stanley Roger Green’s children, who, highly creative in their own ways, greatly informed and inspired my life".

This album was produced by 30-year Connelly collaborator Chris Bruce, a long-time musical partner and band member of Meshell Ndegeocello, who has also worked with Seal, Aaron Neville, Bob Dylan, The Waterboys, My Brightest Diamond, Cheryl Crow and Sam Phillips, amongst others. This album also features strings by Dave Eggar and sax by Levon Henry, as well as contributions by Blake Collins and Phil Faconti.

While Monica Queen fronted 90s band Thrum and released 2 introspective albums with partner John Smillie, she has gained a reputation as Glasgow's guest vocalist of choice. Her formidable voice is widely familiar thanks to her vocal turn on Belle & Sebastian's much-loved 'Lazy Line Painter Jane'.


For almost forty years, Chris Connelly has completed creative pieces ranging from the triumphant to the tragic, from the humble to the hilarious - each time promptly moving on to seek his next inspiration. Since early days with FiniTribe in his native Edinburgh, Connelly has over twenty solo releases. He frequently collaborates with other musicians, building on notable projects with Ministry, The Revolting Cocks and Pigfaceand contributing to newer ones such as Cocksure and The Joy Thieves. As an explorer of art as a broader endeavour has also issued four books, encompassing the realms of poetry, autobiography, and fictional narrative.

As of May 31, 'My Father Took Me Everywhere' is available everywhere digitally, including Apple Music and Spotify. The full album 'The Birthday Poems' will be released on June 15, and can pre-ordered via Bandcamp.

Soon Connelly will perform a series of limited-seating shows in Chicago, performing songs from ‘The Birthday Poems’, as well as stories associated with Connelly’s discovery and investigation of the relationship which inspired the album. Although he has been an artist and in the music industry for over 20 years, his new single addresses a worldwide known stereotype--- being overweight.

“When you see the word weight, when you hear the word weight, most people think heavy. The message that I want to send to the world is that weight doesn't have to be heavy, it can be empowering. That is exactly what my single called WEIGHT did for me. For the first time since I was 13 years old, I faced the heavy burden of showing my body to the world. I did a video, stripped down to my bare skin, and finally exposed all of me to my fans. Once I did this, I felt the burden lift off my shoulders. I finally accepted myself. Sterbhaus have released the live version of their iconic crowd-pleaser "Absolutely Do Not Die!" (Live). The track is the first taken from the band's upcoming live album 'Necrostabbing at Göta Källare - Live in Stockholm', which is set for release on July 9th, 2021 via Black Lodge Records.

The urban myth of French soldiers throwing their wooden shoes (named "sabot") into the machinery at the time of the industrial revolution - hence giving rise to the word "Sabotage" may be fiction, but it's an interesting allegory to when fate, reality, and the industry threw their wooden shoes in the machinery of one Stockholm based act in the most untimely of moments. What is so surprising is how amazingly well-oiled and blisteringly convincing the machinery of Sterbhaus remains with all those wooden shoes rattling around in there. The new live album "Necrostabbing at Gota Kallare - Live in Stockholm", which is so timely released now in the midst of the Covid pandemic shows Sterbhaus at their very best... and that has always been live. It's a hungry and energetic live show from a band eager to exact revenge from having been stranded locally when all booked tours after the new album release were canceled. The whole affair was actually also filmed and will be available on social media together with this live album.

'Infernum In Terra' is the fourth studio album from A Pale Horse Named Death, and was mastered by Maor Appelbaum (Faith No More, Meat Loaf, Yes, Sepultura, Rob Halford, etc.) at Maor Appelbaum Mastering, while the artwork was done by Kelvin Doran of Serpent Tusk Studios. 

"The album to me represents a new beginning, turning a new leaf shall we say with the same vibe from past albums but with a fresh open minded approach," says band leader Sal Abruscato. He adds: "There is no real concrete specific concept, it touches on some personal topics in my life long, my interest in the dark arts, that to have light you must have darkness to balance everything. With daylight comes nightfall, with heaven there is hell and at this moment the world seems to be in a very dark place hence the title of the album ‘Infernum In Terra’. This is a very dark album, but what else is new I always write dark music to sooth a dark soul!"

Sal Abruscato was born in Brooklyn, NY Started playing drums at age 10. He is the co-founder of Type O Negative with Peter Steele and performed on Slow, Deep & Hard, Origin Of The Feces, Bloody Kisses, and various best of and soundtracks. Sal was the drummer for Life Of Agony and performed on River Runs Red, Ugly, River Runs Again, Broken Valley, and A Place Where There's No More Pain. Additional projects include Supermassiv & My Mortality. He is now the singer, songwriter, and guitarist for A Pale Horse Named Death.

LENNE, the new project with Jim Taylor, Morgan Rose, and Lenny Cerzosie Jr premiered the official music video for their debut single "Letting You Down" today. The single is now featured on Spotify's Rock Hard playlist!

Back in the early 2000's, Leonard Cerzosie Jr. started a band with his brother called The Infinite Staircase that did very well as an independent band. the band worked with artists like Earl Slick from David Bowie's band, Candlebox, Sevendust, and even Zakk Wylde. In 2009, they scored a slot on tour with Black Label Society, Sevendust, and Dope that sealed a lot of friendships they still have to this day.

"In 2010, the love of my life passed away suddenly. Pill overdose. It was a devastating time. She was only 27. Morgan Rose and I wrote and recorded the EP, No Amends that was a dedication to my love" says Leonard Cerzosie Jr.

He continues, "Over the years, I've had my hand in multiple projects. I formed "Le Projet" around 2013 that featured members of Candlebox, Sevendust, and The Infinite Staircase. I also joined the Baltimore band "The Mayan Factor" a few years ago and have toured with them in Mexico City and the states. During all this, my mother was diagnosed with ALS. One day- after performing a friend insisted on introducing me to someone. He was confident we needed to meet. That was the day I met Jim Taylor. We did get along immediately and have since been composing all sorts of music together."

"When my mother passed away, Morgan got very involved with what was going on with me and my dad. He invited us out to his place in Atlanta multiple times. We started recording songs with Corey Lowery that would ultimately become "LeNNe". We spent much time digging deep for the right lyrics and tones. There were multiple artists involved over the course of a few years, but the official line up is me and Jim led by Morgan" he adds.

"Lenne is one of the most real artists I’ve ever come across. He wears his heart on sleeve, and expresses vulnerability that hits you in the heart. I love how he tells a story. These songs are an emotional roller coaster into the mind of a tortured soul" says Morgan Rose.

Season of Mist is pleased to announce that we have eleven esteemed artists performing at Metal Injection's upcoming final installment of their highly successful Slay at Home Festival! May 27, 2021 - The legendary post-hardcore group, Thursday, are in the midst of a year of landmark anniversaries, including the twentieth anniversary of their breakout album Full Collapse and the tenth anniversary of their last release No Devolución. However, today the band released the long-awaited reissue of their 1999 full-length, Waiting. The always-coveted debut album has been long out of print until now, available on vinyl and streaming services through Velocity Records, the newly relaunched label in partnership with Equal Vision Records.

Speaking on the band’s debut effort, vocalist Geoff Rickly says:
“Most people think 'Full Collapse' is our first album but twenty two years ago, we took a bunch of demos out of the basement where we’d been writing and holding shows, and put them all together in one place to make our debut album, 'Waiting'. A lot has changed in those intervening years—- the record has gone out of print several times— but every single time I listen to this record, I can hear the start of Thursday, I can hear our hopes and dreams and all the ideas that would define the band, starting to take shape.”

Thursday teased the reissue in the lead-up to their Signals V3 - Full Devolución livestream event by offering a limited edition vinyl variant alongside tickets, which sold out immediately upon release. Waitingis now widely available to stream and to preorder on vinyl here.

Shrouded in a veil of mystery and death, Belarusian black metal entity KHANDRA are unleashing their debut full-length upon mankind. Characterized by aggressive dissonance and a haunting atmosphere, the band’s new assault recalls the black metal sound coined by bands such as MGŁA and BLAZE OF PERDITION.

KHANDRA’s first revelations were unveiled in October 2017 under the banner ‘All is of no avail,’ which subsequently merged with its successor ‘There’s no division outside existence’ in October 2018.

"Khandra" [xɐnˈdra] is a term that describes the feeling of crippling listlessness or melancholy that takes one over when in a state of boredom. However, the band's overarching concept challenges this notion of ennui, attempting to exceed the limits of the imagination, utilizing music as a vessel of expression that has no emotional or logical confines.

"My musical influences in making "Come One, Come All" come from a mix of artists I've been exposed to over the years. My own bands which I've been involved in and, of course, my own musical idols. In music, I love more than anything classic melodic hard rock and that shows on this album. I wanted to make the kind of music I could stand behind completely. The intention was just to have fun with musicians I admire and have everybody perform great songs," says Circus Of Rock mastermind Mirka Rantanen.

"As for the recording of the album, last summer we had all the songs and demos ready. I recorded the drums in early autumn and then everyone else did their part in different studios or at home during autumn and end of the year. Since the album has almost 40 musicians, it was a bit of a challenge to keep everything in order when it comes to sessions. Dozens of tracks could arrive to me on the same day. I worked closely with mixer Kimmo Ahola so that we both kept up to date with what was coming in, what had been transferred, etc. It was quite a job and I still have to tip my hat to Kimmo for putting this puzzle together," continues Rantanen.

“Come One, Come All” has a killer line-up of singers and musicians, a full list of which you can see below. The amazing talents involved come from the likes of Amaranthe, Tyketto, Hardline, Nightwish, Leverage, and more, plus musicians from bands such as Stratovarius, Brother Firetribe, Masterplan, and others.

Hardline and Axel Rudi Pell frontman Johnny Gioeli handles lead vocals on first single 'Desperate Cry'. Rantanen explains, "'Desperate Cry' was called 'Why' at first, but when Johnny got it, he wanted to change the lyric a little bit and it became 'Desperate Cry'. This was the first song that came together for the album. It is written by songwriter/guitarist Ade Manninen and as soon as I heard the demo of it, I was absolutely sure it would go to Johnny. It fits his voice perfectly. Unfortunately, Ade died of cancer May 9th and will not be able to see the release of the song or the entire album. The guy in the video is a "stunt guitarist" because Ade was no longer able to participate in the video shootings due to his health. But he's in our memories now here and a few other songs he plays on. The song is about a relationship ending between two people and the pain involved with that, but after Ade's death, the story took on a whole new meaning, at least for me."

“A few years ago I started to think about recording a solo album; however, I didn’t want to do just a traditional solo album. That’s because people often think a solo album is mainly to allow the musicians to show off their fantastic skills and magnificent instruments, but I wanted to focus more on the great songs that don’t happen to have extra drum solos. I also wanted to include many fantastic colleagues with whom I have played over the years on this album, and in addition a couple of great guest singers. My intention is to get the album released in 2021, when I turn 50. And now this will happen thanks to the Frontiers label. The album will be a kind of milestone in my professional career, my long-term 'dream that is finally coming true' type of thing," says Rantanen.

Legendary hardcore group, Terror, announced the release of The BBC Sessions today in partnerships with Velocity Records and Equal Vision Records. Recorded in the mid-2000s, the band rips through four tracks from their early catalog. The EP, now available on 12” vinyl here, features “Better Off Without You” and “Push It Away” from Lowest of the Low, as well as “Keep Your Mouth Shut” and “Overcome” from One with the Underdogs. Terror has also announced their next live show is happening on September 23rd in Los Angeles with Comeback Kid, Drain, and more.

Speaking on the release, Scott Vogel says, “When we posted this BBC session on the StickTight.LA site, we got a lot of feedback that people would love this recording on vinyl, and we agreed. This is a very cool piece of the Terror history. Thanks Velocity Records for making this happen.”
