HANNES GROSSMANN Release Music Video for New Single "The Sun Eaters"

New Studio Album 'To Where The Light Retreats' Out June 1

One the most prolific and acclaimed drummers in modern tech-metal, HANNES GROSSMANN is excited to offer the first look at his next solo album. The musician has partnered with Metal Injection to premiere the music video for his new single "The Sun Eaters".

The new track is off of Hannes' new studio record, 'To Where The Light Retreats', which will be released independently on June 1, 2021.

The highly renowned drummer is best known for his work in numerous bands, most notably the likes of Nercophagist, Obscura, and Alkaloid. Speaking about the new single "The Sun Eaters", Hannes states:

"I am beyond thrilled to present the first song off my new album. It took a lot of work writing, recording and mixing it, but the effort paid off eventually. As a solo artist I aim to create fresh ideas which at the same time carry the spirit of a sound I started with Obscura back in 2009. But the most important thing for me is having fun with it. On this song and also on the rest of the album, I had some help from my very talented Alkaloid bandmates. It's mind-boggling how Danny Tunker (Alkaloid guitarist) recreated the guitar solo I wrote almost note-by-note without even a sweat."

About HANNES:

He made a name in the metal scene as drummer for the band NECROPHAGIST; playing on their ground breaking album 'Epitaph'. Hannes was also the drummer and main songwriter for German tech-death outfit OBSCURA, producing the genre-defining albums 'Cosmogenesis' (2009) and 'Omnivium' (2011). In 2011, Hannes became part of Blotted Science, feat. bandmates Alex Webster and Ron Jarzombek. The band released their critically acclaimed album 'The Animation Of Entomology', on which

they synchronized music with movie sequences.

In 2014, Hannes formed his own band ALKALOID feat. former and current members of Necrophagist, Obscura, Aborted, Dark Fortress and Noneuclid. The band released two albums, which Hannes also recorded and mixed. Hannes also participated on Hate Eternal's album 'Upon Desolate Sands', which was released in 2018. Hannes is also an active member of Swiss Extreme Metal legends TRIPTYKON. In 2019, the band released the orchestral live album 'Requiem' together with Metropole Orkest.

On his solo albums, Grossmann continues his work and writing style once started in OBSCURA. So far he has released the albums 'The Radial Covenant' (2014), 'The Crypts Of Sleep' (2016), 'Apophenia' (2019), and now the brand new album 'To Where The Light Retreats' (2021) independently.

Hannes does session work (live and studio) for many bands and artists in various styles, and is an active part of the drumming community; often playing at clinics and drum festivals (i.e. Meinl Drum Festival, Adams Drum Fest, among others). He also wrote the instruction book 'Extreme Metal Drumming', which was published by Hal Leonard Co. His instructional DVD 'Creative Concepts For The Modern Metal Drummer' is also considered a standard in the genre of metal drumming educational works. In addition to staying busy as a drummer, Hannes works in recording, mixing, and mastering at his own studio, MORDOR SOUNDS, where he produces not only his solo work, but also bands from all around the world.

West Virginia rockers, Ducain, are proud to announce their self-titled, full-length debut album that released on all major platforms April 9th through Mon Hills Records.

The band released their first single titled "Thick As Thieves" on February 26th.

“Thick as Thieves” embodies a message of relying on the strength of familial bonds in times of adversity, set against a bare-knuckled, twin guitar groove. “Family has always been the most important thing in my life, and that’s something most West Virginians can relate to,” says lead singer and guitarist Jeremy Sargent. “We know our family will always have our backs… and I felt it was important for me to put into words the ties that bind us.”

This release represents the first public glimpse into the recording project between Ducain and Mon Hills Records, which has been nearly two years in the making. After winning 1st Prize in the inaugural Talent WV competition in April of 2019, the four-piece was signed to an LP recording contract with the Morgantown-based label. Sessions began in June of 2019, continuing through February of 2020 before coming to a halt in the wake of COVID-19. The band and label persevered, convening sporadically through the summer to finish recording when safety precautions permitted, before finalizing production in the fall.

On the upcoming full-length release, drummer and vocalist Jared Holley says, “This album bookends where we are, what we’ve done, and how we’ve changed as a band up to this point. We’ve lived with, sharpened, and honed these songs for a long time. Because of that, I think we’ve found ourselves holding a very mature debut album. We wanted to have this time in our lives encompassed in one place. I think people will be able to hold onto that.”

Hailing from the hollers and hills of West Virginia, Ducain makes music in the dusty places of the American south where tradition and progress come to fight. Lost love, envy, family, brawling, and repentance all find a home here.

Jeremy Sargent writes, sings, and plays with Southern soul while Austin Lewis fills the spaces with melodic fire. Rich Mills and Jared Holley provide the foundation, shaking the ground with rolling thunder. The result is unquestionably greater than the sum of its parts.

Ducain is a Rock & Roll band’s Rock & Roll band, culling together elements of southern rock from the likes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, electric blues reminiscent of Free, grunge a la Alice In Chains, and modern sensibilities in the vein of Kings of Leon, forming an instantly identifiable sound that’s equal parts familiar and fresh.

Ducain is: Jeremy Sargent – lead vocals and guitar; Austin Lewis – lead guitar; Rich Mills – bass; and Jared Holley – drums and vocals.

Melodic Death Metal Powerhouse HIRAES (ex-DAWN OF DISEASE) Announces Debut Album, Solitary

Pre-Order NOW!

First Single and Official Music Video “Under Fire” Out Now

Ex-DAWN OF DISEASE members unleash melodic death metal demon HIRAES

After recently signing with Napalm Records and Napalm Events, German based melodic death metal unit HIRAES is set to drop its first sonic monster with ultimate strength: Their long-awaited, phenomenal debut offering, Solitary, will be released on June 25, 2021 via Napalm Records.

HIRAES impressively combines the full force of all four instrumentalists formerly of DAWN OF DISEASE (Lukas Kerk, Oliver Kirchner, Christian Wösten and Mathias Blässe) with the powerful vocals of Britta Görtz (CRITICAL MESS, Ex-CRIPPER) to create an exciting new melodic death emergence. Brutally rising like a thunderous maelstrom comprised of boisterous riffs and blaring, relentless drums, and backed by massive vocals and a chorus that causes goosebumps with its heavy and meaningful lyricism, today, the five-piece has unleashed the furious first single “Under Fire”. Together with a highly explosive official music video, HIREAS is ready to take their monumental sonic attack out into the world.

HIRAES on the new single:

“We are more than proud to finally present you our first single. "Under Fire" is a monumental melodic death metal neckbreaker that combines a mixture of very different elements of our music: from catchy and melodic-melancholic parts to groovy headbang passages and fast up-tempo drumming - there's something for everyone here. Together with the very cool video, "Under Fire" is guaranteed to blow you away!”

Feel the heat and watch the video for “Under Fire”

HIRAES already established its own remarkable identity built upon a smashing femme vocal attack, intense melodies and charging guitars, led by guitarist Lukas Kerk as main songwriter. An atmospheric, instrumental intro introduces the album opener “Shadows Break'', whilst showcasing the impressive vocal onslaught of seasoned frontwoman Britta Görtz shortly after. “Grain Of Sand” sets the next exclamation mark while delivering an unrelenting attack of smashing riffs along with an inexorable vocal performance, followed by standouts such as brutal “1000 Lights”, razor-sharp “Eyes Over Black'' and fast-twitching title-track “Solitary”, proving that HIRAES don’t decelerate for a second.

This massive melodic death metal assault leaves no scope for weakness and serves an exciting take on the genre with hymnlike melodies, enthralling drums and guitar riffing as well as breathtaking hooklines. Topped with the distinctive and versatile performance of Britta Görtz, this powerful new formation and its debut, Solitary, is a must have for fans of bands like INSOMNIUM, AT THE GATES, ARCH ENEMY and AMON AMARTH.

HIRAES say about the album:

“Our debut album Solitary is the result of the collaboration of five musicians who burn with passion for melodic death metal. With its incredible emotional energy, it will captivate fans of the genre in no time. Hymn-like melodies and catchy riffing meet versatile drumming and the very varied growls of our singer Britta. The result is a unique blend of the best that melodic death metal has to offer. Rounded off by stunning sound, refined at Fascination Street Studios under the direction of Jens Bogren, and strong artwork by Costin Chioreanu, we are really more than satisfied with our first album. We can't wait to finally present Solitary to the metal community on June 25, 2021!”

New Album, Hermitage, Out Now via Napalm Records

Order HERE

Portuguese dark metal giants MOONSPELL, who just released their highly acclaimed, 13th studio album Hermitage through Napalm Records, have just unleashed an epic live video from their recent show at the Pavilhão Rosa Mota - Super Bock Arena - in Porto, Portugal, in December 2020. The band is releasing this clip in celebration of their newly announced UK tour dates with Paradise Lost, taking place in 2022.

As mentioned above, MOONSPELL have announced that they will join Paradise Lost on their 2022 UK tour! While the world is waiting to see the return of live shows, there is no better way to celebrate a 30th band anniversary as MOONSPELL will when back on the road next year. Following both of their latest releases, Paradise Lost’s magnum opus Obsidian in May 2020 and MOONSPELL’s exceptional epos Hermitage, the world will finally see this high class band package bring their masterpieces live on stage in February 2022. Today, the British gothic metal legends announced their "Obsidian Moon" tour, featuring longtime friends MOONSPELL as special guests.

PARADISE LOST frontman Nick Holmes says:

"We're looking forward to doing a full UK tour again and playing some long-awaited shows in support of 'Obsidian', and who better to bring along for some of the ride than our old friends from Portugal, MOONSPELL?Thanks to you all for your continued support during these crazy times, and we hope to see you there. Until then, stay safe and stay well. Cheers, x!"

Fernando Ribeiro from MOONSPELL adds:

“We couldn’t think of a more perfect way of getting back to touring than to join forces with the mighty Paradise Lost, a group we always looked up to and that helped ignite our very own existence as a band.”

While the world was struggling in the dark, MOONSPELL’s new album Hermitage was recorded, mixed and mastered by Jaime Gomez Arellano (Paradise Lost, Primordial, Ghost, Sólstafir & many more) in the summer of 2020 at the Orgone Studios in the UK. It was released on February 26, 2021 via Napalm Records.

Building upon the sensitive facets of the album, Hermitage is an entertaining and revolutionary, yet epic journey through the darkest days of human existence. Beautifully crafted songs such as “The Greater Good“ show us the modernity of the wolves in 2021, while other tracks embrace the MOONSPELL tradition of writing a dark, gothic metal record like no other band can. The ethereal and melodic sounds of MOONSPELL, while not straying away from their metal roots – influenced by underground metal bands such as Bathory – make Hermitage most likely one of the deepest, surprising and most epic albums MOONSPELL has ever written. It’s a testament to what the band always loved the most: Honest, emotional metal that binds us even in the darkest times.

MOONSPELL is:

Fernando Ribeiro – Vocals

Ricardo Amorim – Guitar, Backing Vocals

Pedro Paixão – Keys, Guitar

Aires Pereira – Bass

Hugo Ribeiro – Drums

VREID Releases "Into the Mountains,"

Ft. Original Recordings from Late WINDIR Frontman Valfar

Sognametal veterans VREID are now releasing "Into the Mountains," a very special track from their upcoming full length, 'Wild North West.' "Into the Mountains" is a homage to the Sognametal spirit and legacy. The ideas for that track were written in 2002 by Jarle ‘Hváll’ Kvåle and late WINDIR frontman Terje ‘Valfar’ Bakken. Inspired by these ideas, Hváll wrote the song and included the original demo keyboard tracks from 2002, which were recorded back then by Valfar. The song and its accompanying video, which is the latest chapter of the band's ambitious film project.

VREID songwriter and bass player Jarle Hváll Kvåle comments:
"'Into the Mountains' is the essence of Sognametal, a hymn to Sogndal and a celebration of our ancestors and legacy. Late winter 2020 preparing for the new album, I went through my old recording hard discs and I found some old ideas for riffs that I had made in 2002. It was from a session between the 1184 and Likferd albums. I also found some unused keyboard parts recorded by Valfar from the same period. I could not remember neither of these and became euphoric by rediscovering this. So, I blocked out the outside world, locked myself in the studio, and it instantly send me 20 years back in time. I felt Spellbound working on this song. For a few days it felt like me and Valfar was working together in the studio again, and what a weird and fantastic session this was. The dynamic of working together with Valfar is something that I will always miss, and these strange days was like a time travel into a lost time. The result of this session is 'Into the Mountains,' a song that feels so pure, fresh and vital for us, yet with a great homage to our olden times. Life is a strange curvy road”

Moreover, VREID recently announced their exciting and unique partnership with the Sogndal Football Club! The club has for many years been known for developing and cultivating extraordinary talent, as the men's team currently plays in first division, the second tier of the Norwegian football league system. Now, Sogndal Football Club is paying tribute to the band that has brought Sognametal to the whole world, by putting the logo of metal veterans and forefathers VREID on the chest of player’s uniforms for this upcoming season.

ICYMI: VREID has recently appeared on Norway's TV2, the biggest commercial news station in the country! The clip spotlighted the band's 'Into the Mountains of Sognametal' livestream, which attracted over 140,000 fans from all over the world when it premiered in June of 2020, as well as the band's ambitious upcoming album and film. The TV2 news item can be seen HERE.

'Wild North West' is a concept album that developed alongside an entire movie. Inspired by both true events and pure imagination, the listener is taken on a whirlwind of a journey, diving deep into themes of war, fear, betrayal, loss, anxiety, and madness with thought-provoking lyrics that embody human nature. It captures the Nordic heart at the core of their sound, taking cues from Norway’s rugged landscape as it ricochets between eternal darkness and the solace of bracing light.

'Wild North West' will be released on April 30 via Season of Mist in various formats. Pre-orders are available HERE.

VREID have previously unveiled the cover artwork and tracklist of 'Wild North West'. The cover was created by Remi Juliebø (Deformat Design)

From its tumultuous inception, the Norwegian metal scene has always been about pioneering. While embracing the illustrious black metal history as part of their musical heritage, the many iconic bands have now evolved in various directions. Leading the black ‘n roll movement in Norway, VREID are the perfect example of that. The band arose in 2004 from the ashes of WINDIR after the tragic perishing of Terje ‘Valfar’ Bakken. The Sognametal legends declared the mission of exploring new musical paths, which they have pushed to even greater heights on their new record ‘Wild North West’.

The ninth record is not just a collection of songs, but a concept album that developed alongside an entire movie. Throughout eight chapters you will be taken on a journey deep into the mountains, to a dark place where the borders between reality and fantasy fade and where death is only one step behind you: The Wild North West. Not just in sheer size of the project but also in terms of music videography, creativity, and determination, VREID have done something truly unique and lifted their art to a new dimension.

On the concept, founder and bass player Jarle Hváll Kvåle states: "Wild North West is a concept story about life itself and its eternal shadow: death. It is built around the world of our fictional character E, but it is surely inspired by my own life, my band’s life, historical events and many tales that have inspired me over the years. Is it a true story or fictional? I would have to say both, and sometimes is hard tell the difference.”

‘Wild North West’ features the most extreme and intense work of the band to date, as well as heavy and melodic rock songs. These influences have always been a part of VREID’s DNA, and it is this combination that makes up the spirit of Sognametal. A remarkable homage to that same musical spirit is the song “Into the Mountains”. The ideas for that track were written in 2002 by Jarle ‘Hváll’ Kvåle and Terje ‘Valfar’ Bakken (WINDIR). Inspired by these ideas, Hváll wrote the song and included the original demo keyboard tracks from 2002, recorded back then by Valfar.

VREID have always chosen a course of constant evolution that is marked by thematically denoted phases regarding their often historically inspired lyrics. This became particularly clear with albums ‘I Krig’ (2007) and ‘Milorg’ (2009), which both revolved around concepts dealing with resistance and liberation of Norway during World War II. With their following three records, the pitch black brigade returned to their Norse roots on ‘Sólverv’ which received high critical acclaim in 2015.

In 2018, the Norwegians teamed up with Season of Mist for their previous full-length ‘Lifehunger’, a record that successfully blended elements of 70’s rock, 80’s classic metal, and Norwegian black metal and which featured a remarkable guest contribution from SÓLSTAFIR’s vocalist Addi Tryggvason on the track “Hello Darkness”.

VREID have hammered out their success partly by being a heavily touring band. The four-piece performed more than 500 shows in 25 countries so far. Their everlasting march to conquer new territories has led the Norwegians to headline tours in Europe, North America, Japan, and India.

The band’s onward march did not come to a halt in 2020, a year that will go down as devastating for the international music scene. VREID launched their own beer, which turned out to be the biggest success of the Balder Brewery as the first batches were sold out immediately. Instead of waiting to be able to tour again, the Norwegians invited the fans to their home region and hosted a massive streaming concert among the beautiful mountainous surroundings of the Sognefjord. The concert, ‘Into the Mountains of Sognametal’ took place in June 2020 was viewed by over 140.000 people from more than 40 countries.

In 2021, VREID will once more invite the fans to their dark, cold, and wild universe but tread carefully as from these haunted mountains, no man can descend.

Welcome to the Wild North West.

WOLFHEART Reveals Music Video for Chilling Acoustic Version of "Aeon Of Cold"

New EP, Skull Soldiers, Out Now

Order HERE

Exactly one entire year after the release of their latest full-length, Wolves of Karelia, Finnish melodic death metal mainstays WOLFHEART have yet another surprise for fans - a new music video for the chilling acoustic version of "Aeon Of Cold", cut from their recent EP, Skull Soldiers, and featuring the airy vocals of bassist Lauri Silvonen. The original version of "Aeon Of Cold" can be heard on the band's 2015 album, Shadow World.

WOLFHEART frontman Tuomas Saukkonen says about the acoustic version of “Aeon Of Cold”:

"It was really inspiring to dismantle a song full of blast beats, double bass drum, growling vocals and heavy guitars into a two acoustic guitar arrangement, leaving only the core of the song left and letting our bass player Lauri take the spotlight with clean vocals. Despite the contrast with the arrangements, the coldness and the somber mood of the original version is still there. We wanted to underline that with the video, so we shot the footage in the middle of the forest in -17 Celsius temperature."

Order the Skull Soldiers EP HERE!

The Skull Soldiers EP’s unrelentingly heavy offerings bring to life a sonic aura of freezing winter temperatures and the crushing weight of the Finnish army that was never willing to surrender. In addition to two new studio tracks, “Skull Soldiers” and “Hereditary”, the EP is also accented by two rarities: the first – an eerie new acoustic version of the Shadow World (2015) track, “Aeon of Cold”, featuring the airy, chilling clean vocals of bassist Lauri Silvonen, and the second – a flawless live version of the Wolves of Karelia single “Reaper”, recorded during the band’s virtual concert stream performance that aired in 2020. Skull Soldiers is a must-have for diehard and new WOLFHEART fans alike, staving off cravings until the band’s next offering!

The Skull Soldiers EP is available in the following formats:

MASON HILL Release Official Music Video for "D.N.A."

First Rock Act to Debut Album in UK Top 20 since GRETA VAN FLEET in 2018 & and the first British rock act debut album Top 20 and #1 UK rock chart since Royal Blood in 2014!!

UK Tour Dates Announced!

Glasgow, UK based Rock band MASON HILL has released the official music video for their blistering metal single, "D.N.A." Directed and produced by David Barras and Scott McKay for Strangeboat Productions, "D.N.A." is the third single off the band's chart dominating debut album, Against The Wall.

"D.N.A." is also dominating German and French charts, sitting comfortably on Rock Antenne FM's' top 20 and hitting top 10 in the Heavy 1 French radio chart.

"A blistering and hook filled bit of gleaming modern metal, it manages to perfectly mesh heaviness with melody that shows a maturity way beyond most of their peers.

With a superb production, this just doesn’t pop out of the speakers, it practically roars, the Highland passion in full flow and Celtic fire blazing." - Metal Planet Magazine

Released on March 5th, Against The Wall achieved the UK national album chart at number 19, taking a coveted top 20 album position, and reached over 750,000 streams on Spotify. The long awaited album, which received critical acclaim from both media and fans alike, also hit number 1 in the UK rock album chart. It is the first time a rock band has debuted with their album in the UK Top 20 since Greta Van Fleet in 2018 and also the first time a British rock act as debuted with their album in the UK Top 20 and # 1 in the UK rock album chart since Royal Blood and Lonely The Brave back in 2014!

It is an incredible achievement for new British rock band, starting from an almost zero sales base and during a pandemic when there has been no traditional retail, no live shows or touring opportunities. The innovative marketing campaign run by both 7Hz Productions (ADA) and the band involved a six month fan building initiative utilizing the band's social platforms, streaming performances, virtual ‘in store’ launch events, dark ad audience building and strategic media take over promotions. Coupled with very positive press reviews, online reviews, regional radio support, and four Planet Rockplaylist additions, the band’s new album has connected musically with rock fans resulting in a surge of sales.

The band is set to release their next digital single, a cover of the 2005 Foo Fighters hit "The Best Of You," all platforms on April 23, 2021.

MASON HILL has also announced UK tour dates. The 17 date UK & Irish tour will head out in early September with support from Hollowstar and Empyre. Despite never having headlined a club tour before, the band has sold 1,800 tour tickets in just 2 weeks!

Andre Comeau has released his new single “Clean Break”

Fresh from his appearance on the wildly successful Paramount+ show Real World Homecoming: New York, Andre Comeau has released his new single “Clean Break”, today, as the season finale hits the airwaves.

https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/andrecomeau/clean-break

Best known as the “long-haired rocker” from the original season of MTV’s groundbreaking reality show The Real World, Andre enjoyed a decade of success with indie Rock band Reigndance (heavily featured in the original MTV series), before relocating to Los Angeles and launching a series of his own projects. The latest, his current eponymous Rock incarnation, released their debut EP in 2020, with a full-length album to follow in 2021. Despite being labelled” the ultimate embodiment of Gen X Slackerdom…” by The New York Times, Comeau has forged a 30+ year career in music, on his own terms.

“Clean Break" will be the first release on Comeau’s French Osados imprint, in conjunction with THC: MUSIC (Chuck Mosley, American Head Charge, Black Light Burns), the longtime label hub of A&R/Marketing vet Thom Hazaert, who originally brought Andre to his EMP LABEL GROUPcollaboration with Megadeth’s David Ellefson, to release Comeau’s 2020 Wrong Within EP.

Premiering in early March on the newly launched Paramount+ streaming platform, Real World Homecoming: New York has been one of the most talked about new shows in recent memory, garnering massive press and critical praise from the biggest media outlets including Time, Rolling Stone, People, The New York Times, Yahoo, Variety, Entertainment Weekly, and many more.

Says Comeau, “It was interesting to step back into that place and to do it again. Just like the first time, I went in as an artist. It was great to reconnect with everyone and be part of these important conversations. Obviously, the show features a lot of my new music, including “Clean Break”, which was also a tremendous boost.

Returning to the same iconic NYC loft in 2020, Comeau once again appears the cool voice of reason, navigating a storm of racially charged tensions among the roommates, with one episode ending with author and activist Kevin Powell referencing Andre’s upcoming single, stating the world’s need for a “Clean Break”.

Comeau and Hazaert have also launched a multiple episode livestream series, “Thom and Andre Get Real”, providing running commentary on the show, with discussion of music and related social issues, viewable at the links below.

Dead Can Dance's Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell release ‘Deshta (Forever)’ from forthcoming 'Burn' LP

+++ LISA GERRARD & JULES MAXWELL are from legendary band Dead Can Dance
+++ This album was produced by James Chapman (MAPS)
+++ 'Deshta (Forever)' single released on April 9, 2021
+++ ‘Burn’ album will be released on May 7, 2021

+++ This is their first release via the Atlantic Curve label

Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell, best known for their work as part of the legendary band Dead Can Dance, present 'Deshta (Forever)', the second single from their forthcoming studio album 'Burn'. The accompanying video is directed by cinematographer Michal Sosna.
Produced by James Chapman (MAPS), the long-play will be released on May 7 via Atlantic Curve, a London-based label that is part of the Schubert Music Europe.

"Deshta recalls a dream of eternity, spinning fearlessly into the perpetual Light," says Lisa Gerrard.

Jules Maxwell adds: “Deshta has a dark brooding quality. James Chapman’s production has helped draw out a raw earthiness to the piece and Michal Sosna’s accompanying video is brilliantly disquieting and human at the same time.”

The record began its journey more than seven years ago, when Lisa met Irish theatre composer Jules Maxwell before working together for the first time. Things really took root when Gerrard and Maxwell began writing songs for their earlier collaboration 'The Mystery Of The Bulgarian Voices (Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares)'. They were later introduced to Chapman and asked him to produce this album, which represents a stunning departure for all three of them.

With Chapman joining the duo as producer, ideas generated freely and over time, a distinct sound for their work began to emerge. Their focus was to create something that was both euphoric and compelling; more inventive than what they had worked on separately in the past. From gentle beginnings, each track builds and intensifies, creating a hypnotic experience to listen to from start to finish. With Lisa remaining in Australia, Jules adding his keys and percussion from France, and James bringing new light to the sound from England, the three were literally worlds apart, but those worlds fused in this music.

"With 'Deshta (Forever) the aim was to create a huge, expansive and spacious sound. It is a dark, uplifting and mysterious journey. The call and response sections in the vocals are especially haunting. It is a very immersive track, and it was a joy to work on," says James Chapman.

Sosna's video is among seven specially commissioned films to accompany the release of the album. The first of these, created by Polish director Jacob Chelkowski’s video for the title track 'Noyalain (Burn)', proves more than a little provocative in these days of Covid, as it portrays the simple, traumatic act of touching.

In early March, Jules Maxwell also released his sophomore solo album 'Nocturnes’ - the debut release for the newly-formed Archangelo Recordings. This beautifully melancholic collection of instrumental pieces was written and recorded over the past four years, much of it in collaboration with the acclaimed UK-based Vincent Dance Theatre.

'Deshta (Forever)' and 'Noyalain (Burn)' are both available digitally across online platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify. The full ‘Burn’ album, set for release on May 7, can be pre-ordered on vinyl, CD and digitally at https://orcd.co/lisajulesburn

Sweet Oblivion Feat. Geoff Tate New Album "Relentless" Out Today!

Lonobile even conjures up a ’Ryche-style tune in Aria with Tate singing in Italian. Strong songs, and Geoff Tate at the front giving the fans what they want? A (guilty?) pleasure indeed.

-Classic Rock-

Relentless is an album, combining the great songwriting talents of Lonobile conceived and performed by Tate, with a step back in time to the music of the Queensryche era. Fans will certainly welcome the nostalgia of this classic metal foray.

-Screamer Magazine-

Quite badass

-Sea of Tranquility-

Sweet Oblivion has begun to shape its promising identity

-Sonic Perspectives-

Today, Sweet Oblivion Featuring Geoff Tate, have released their new album "Relentless." "Relentless" is the hotly anticipated sophomore album from the new metal project Sweet Oblivion, which showcases former Queensrÿche vocalist Geoff Tate. Conceived, overseen, and A&R'ed by Serafino Perugino, President and A&R director of Frontiers Records, the project sees Tate returning to a musical style he is revered for.

Order/stream "Relentless" on CD, Limited Edition Green Vinyl, and/or Digital formats HERE: https://orcd.co/sweetoblivion

While the production and main songwriting on the previous record were handled by Simone Mularoni of DGM, this time the production was instead handled by his fellow Italian metal maestro Aldo Lonobile (Secret Sphere, Timo Tolkki's Avalon, Archon Angel).

Not only does Aldo have producution and songwriting credits on the album, he also features on guitar. Other musicians appearing on the album include Michele Sanna on drums, Luigi Andreone on bass, and Antonio Agate on keyboards.

This time around, Tate is more involved in the songwriting and asked Aldo to draft a very special song for him, which he would ultimately sing in Italian. The song, 'Aria', also features guitars from Walter Cianciusi and Dario Parente, who are now in the Operation: Mindcrime live band with Tate.

"I have been spending more and more time in Italy over the last few years and the people and culture have captured my heart. I truly enjoyed working with my Italian counterparts to create this classic metal album," says Tate.

Musically, this album showcases the great songwriting and performing talents of Tate, Lonobile and his cast of musicians and also marks a very welcomed return for Tate to a style that he made famous along with his former band.

Antonio Agate - Keys

Michele Sanna - Drums

THE INTERSPHERE Share B-Side Tracks "Vagabonds" & "Doublespeak"

To bridge the time leading up to their next studio album, German Alt-Rock band THE INTERSPHERE have shared two new B-Side tracks, “Vagabonds” and “Doublespeak”. Both songs are taken from the recording sessions for the album “Relations in the Unseen”which was released in 2014.

The 2-track single "Vagabonds" / "Doublespeak" is available here:

“Vagabonds” takes a self-deprecating look at the financial side of being a band in a catchy sound of acoustic guitars and unusually positive melodies. One could almost attest the band clairvoyant abilities: What it means to make a living with a band like THE INTERSPHERE now gets a completely new meaning in the context of COVID.

“Doublespeak”, on the other hand, is an experiment. Producer and friend MALKY provided the basic idea in the form of an R’n’B beat, which THE INTERSPHERE made their own. Head voices, jazz chords and the drums in the guise of a drum computer show how far the alternative band thinks outside the famous box.

THE INTERSPHERE Lineup:

Christoph Hessler - Vocals, Guitars

Thomas Zipner - Guitars, Vocals

Moritz Müller - Drums

Daniel Weber - Bass, Vocals

SHUMAUN Drop Video for Single "Memories of Water" New Studio Album 'Memories & Intuition' Out This Summer

Washington DC based prog rock band SHUMAUN have released a music video for their new single “Memories of Water. The song features Mark Zonder (ex-Fates Warning) on drums and was mixed/mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima (Cynic, Pain of Salvation, Megadeth) over at Tower Studio. The new single is taken from the band's upcoming album, 'Memories & Intuition', which is set to be released this Summer (TBA). The new album is SHUMAUN's third studio effort since breaking into the scene with their critically acclaimed self-titled debut in 2015.

“I really wanted Memories of Water to be straightforward, catchy, and melodic when I wrote it. Even though there’s interesting time changes in the bridge, it doesn’t sound abrasive,” says vocalist/guitarist Farhad Hossain. “The song truly represents the essence of what we set aside to do as a band, which is to write melodic rock songs utilizing some of our more progressive influences,” bassist Jose Mora elaborated.

While the new album is set to release later in 2021, the band wanted to release a new single much in advance since COVID-19 delayed the recording process so much. “It felt really good to be recording music again after so long because of the quarantine. I can’t wait to play live again,” says guitarist Tyler Kim.

The video for "Memories of Water" celebrates the long-enduring friendship between the members of the band, highlighted by clips taken from home videos throughout the 90s and early 2000s. SHUMAUN is looking forward to playing live once things get back to normal!
