Ten Years After are best known for their Platinum selling album “A Space in Time” which featured the Top 40 hit "I'd Love To Change the World", and their prodigious performance at the Woodstock Festival in upstate New York, August 1969. ANDREW W.K. Premieres New Single + Video for “BABALON”

At the beginning of February 2021, Napalm Records and the inimitable God of Partying, ANDREW W.K., announced the impending release of a massive new single, “Babalon”, and today, that new single is officially released and available worldwide (listen/order here), in both physical and digital formats, with an accompanying music video.

On the “Babalon” track, ANDREW W.K.’s path of partying takes a sharp left-hand turn, making for a triumphant and explosive new showcase for his prowess as a multi-instrumentalist. Swinging drums and a sinister guitar riff open the song’s heavenly gates, veering into organ-driven, hermetical verses. This enormous sonic conquest descends like an angel, lowered by W.K.’s rich and dynamic vocal delivery, that at last builds up to a spine-tingling climax – leaving Andrew’s partiers clamoring for more.

When asked to comment on the “Babalon” music video, the project’s conceptual director, Michael R.C., offered the following:

“With ‘Babalon’, we wanted the audience to slink back down Andrew’s tower and storm the gateway to the city of pyramids with him, or someone who looks like him. We had all been working really hard to lay thee gagging monster down, so it would dwell forever in the chasm of frivolous forming. All these images come from there, from where it’s going. That’s where we put Andrew.”

He added:

“Consciousness hasn’t opened reality, only nightmares. Zone-out now.”

ANDREW W.K. got its start in southeastern Michigan, before moving to New York City and officially launching in 1999. Now, entering the new decade having already conquered the worlds of music, television, radio, and motivational speaking (even receiving the American Association of Suicidology’s “Person” of the Year Award in 2018), the inimitable God of Partying is more determined than ever to reach euphoric levels of positive perfection. Having released five larger-than-life albums, including the revered chart-topping full-length debut, I Get Wet (2001), ANDREW W.K. has remained hard at work (for two years and counting) on crafting a brand new album of brand new music, guaranteed to pressurize the power of partying into diamond levels of hardness.

VREID Unveils Music Video for New Song, "Wild North West"

Norwegian blackened rock 'n' roll veterans VREID are now unveiling the title track from their upcoming opus, 'Wild North West!' The song is accompanied by a thought-provoking music video, which is the first installment of the band's unique and ambitious movie project. Watch the first chapter!

VREID songwriter and bass player Jarle Hváll Kvåle comments: "After being locked up in our own twisted little world for a long time, I am over the moon to finally be able to share the first chapter from our new album/movie with you all. This is the start of a journey that I don’t know where will lead us, but hey, isn’t that the point? Life is an everlasting march forward, so let’s see where it takes us. We kick it all off with the title track, a heavy and bombastic track that we can’t wait to unleash when we return to the stages worldwide. For now, enjoy the song, the movie and join us into the Wild North West."

'Wild North West' is a concept album that developed alongside an entire movie. Inspired by both true events and pure imagination, the listener is taken on a whirlwind of a journey, diving deep into themes of war, fear, betrayal, loss, anxiety, and madness with thought-provoking lyrics that embody human nature. It captures the Nordic heart at the core of their sound, taking cues from Norway’s rugged landscape as it ricochets between eternal darkness and the solace of bracing light.

'Wild North West' will be released on April 30 via Season of Mist in various formats. Pre-orders are available HERE.

From its tumultuous inception, the Norwegian metal scene has always been about pioneering. While embracing the illustrious black metal history as part of their musical heritage, the many iconic bands have now evolved in various directions. Leading the black ‘n roll movement in Norway, VREID are the perfect example of that. The band arose in 2004 from the ashes of WINDIR after the tragic perishing of Terje ‘Valfar’ Bakken. The Sognametal legends declared the mission of exploring new musical paths, which they have pushed to even greater heights on their new record ‘Wild North West’.

The ninth record is not just a collection of songs, but a concept album that developed alongside an entire movie. Throughout eight chapters you will be taken on a journey deep into the mountains, to a dark place where the borders between reality and fantasy fade and where death is only one step behind you: The Wild North West. Not just in sheer size of the project but also in terms of music videography, creativity, and determination, VREID have done something truly unique and lifted their art to a new dimension.

On the concept, founder and bass player Jarle Hváll Kvåle states: "Wild North West is a concept story about life itself and its eternal shadow: death. It is built around the world of our fictional character E, but it is surely inspired by my own life, my band’s life, historical events and many tales that have inspired me over the years. Is it a true story or fictional? I would have to say both, and sometimes is hard tell the difference.”

‘Wild North West’ features the most extreme and intense work of the band to date, as well as heavy and melodic rock songs. These influences have always been a part of VREID’s DNA, and it is this combination that makes up the spirit of Sognametal. A remarkable homage to that same musical spirit is the song “Into the Mountains”. The ideas for that track were written in 2002 by Jarle ‘Hváll’ Kvåle and Terje ‘Valfar’ Bakken (WINDIR). Inspired by these ideas, Hváll wrote the song and included the original demo keyboard tracks from 2002, recorded back then by Valfar.

VREID have always chosen a course of constant evolution that is marked by thematically denoted phases regarding their often historically inspired lyrics. This became particularly clear with albums ‘I Krig’ (2007) and ‘Milorg’ (2009), which both revolved around concepts dealing with resistance and liberation of Norway during World War II. With their following three records, the pitch black brigade returned to their Norse roots on ‘Sólverv’ which received high critical acclaim in 2015.

In 2018, the Norwegians teamed up with Season of Mist for their previous full-length ‘Lifehunger’, a record that successfully blended elements of 70’s rock, 80’s classic metal, and Norwegian black metal and which featured a remarkable guest contribution from SÓLSTAFIR’s vocalist Addi Tryggvason on the track “Hello Darkness”.

VREID have hammered out their success partly by being a heavily touring band. The four-piece performed more than 500 shows in 25 countries so far. Their everlasting march to conquer new territories has led the Norwegians to headline tours in Europe, North America, Japan, and India.

The band’s onward march did not come to a halt in 2020, a year that will go down as devastating for the international music scene. VREID launched their own beer, which turned out to be the biggest success of the Balder Brewery as the first batches were sold out immediately. Instead of waiting to be able to tour again, the Norwegians invited the fans to their home region and hosted a massive streaming concert among the beautiful mountainous surroundings of the Sognefjord. The concert, ‘Into the Mountains of Sognametal’ took place in June 2020 was viewed by over 140.000 people from more than 40 countries.

In 2021, VREID will once more invite the fans to their dark, cold, and wild universe but tread carefully as from these haunted mountains, no man can descend.

Welcome to the Wild North West.

‘68 PREMIERE NEW SINGLE “BAD BITE” WITH HAND DRAWN MUSIC VIDEO

NEW ALBUM GIVE ONE TAKE ONE
DUE OUT MARCH 26 VIA COOKING VINYL

PREORDER: Give One Take One

The noisy Atlanta duo ‘68 shared the latest single "Bad Bite" from their highly anticipated full-length album Give One Take One, due out March 26th via Cooking Vinyl. The high energy track weaves dizzying riffs between the band’s colossal guitar tones and Nikko Yamada’s precision drumming. The accompanying music video was painstakingly hand-drawn and animated entirely by vocalist and guitarist Josh Scogin (The Chariot, Norma Jean), mixing in subliminal notes from his 2020 experience. In true ‘68 fashion, the single and visuals are swaggering and raw, pulling the listener in with blistering instrumentals, Scogin’s one-of-a-kind delivery, and plenty of fun.

Their third record, Give One Take One, was produced by the Grammy-winning Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice In Chains), and is the group’s boldest and biggest effort to date. During a time of uncertainty, ‘68 completed the album with Raskulinecz, only to return a few months later to record their previously released EP Love Is Ain’t Dead (2020) when their touring plans with Korn and Faith No More were derailed by the pandemic. Ahead of the release on March 26th, Give One Take One is available for pre-order here.

Speaking on the creation of the video, Josh Scogin says:

"The “subliminal” messages are actually what became kind of like a journal for me. A bit of a “dear diary” during the 2020 year of lemons. My computer is old and slow so I had to work on this video in small little, 3 second chunks each so, there was one moment that I assumed it would never actually be released to the public, but I had to finish it because I made a promise to myself a few years back that if I start something, I have to finish it. So anyway, I just started writing whatever I felt at the time (I think at one point I have some Star Wars references because I was making my way through each of those movies), and I also started writing the date on it somewhere each time I worked on it. Once I was basically done with the animation, I put it all together for the first time and bounced it down (it took an entire 24 hours to render it down) and I was so stoked. I knew I wanted it raw, and I wanted my “mistakes” to shine through (to rebuttal how perfect, pristine, and fake everything seems to be these days.). I wanted it to be HUMAN but before I actually placed it all together, I just thought it wasn’t going to actually work. Once I was able to see it all it blew me away. I love it."

How much noise can two people make? ‘68 is the sound of simultaneous implosion and explosion, of destruction and creation unbound. These are songs that could almost fall apart at any moment, yet never do, devilishly dancing between life and death. It’s a primitive impulse delivered with postmodern purpose; a blacksmith’s resolve with an arsenal of electric distortion and raw nerve.

Josh Scogin kickstarted his small band with the big sound in 2013, naming the two-man outfit he modestly undersells as “a little rock, a little blues, a little hardcore” after his father’s old Camaro. And there’s a muscle car-sized rumble beneath the hood of what the Atlanta, Georgia native and his percussive partner-in-crime, Nikko Yamada, unleash with an array of guitar, bass, drums, keys, and pedals, careening between swinging barnburners, wild haymakers, and moody atmosphere.

The ’68 roadshow has taken them from Moscow to Tel Aviv, across Europe and Australia and all-over North America, often splitting up 20-hour drives between the two guys. The passion, the hunger, the good humor, it all connects with diverse crowds. Deliciously stripped down and vibrant, ’68 excels in intimate environments, to be sure, but is no less unignorable on giant festival stages or on the road with Bring Me The Horizon, Stone Sour, Beartooth, Avatar, August Burns Red, The Amity Affliction, and Underoath, where they’ve earned new converts every day.

In Humor and Sadness, the first album by ’68, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard New Artist Chart. Two Parts Viper followed in 2017. “[‘68] bring the noise in the most righteous ways, caring less about the scene they came up through, the bloodless drivel that passes as ‘indie’ and the boring earnestness currently permeating ‘punk,’” declared Alternative Press. “Two Parts Viper is the best record of the year. Throw a copy in my casket, because I’ll never be done listening to it.”

Grammy-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice In Chains) became a believer after just a few songs of a ’68 set. On Give One Take One, crafted with Raskulinecz in Nashville, the band’s high intensity bombast threatens but never swallows the underlying groove.

With the same spirit of scrappy “winging it” and punchy minimalism that powered the Flat Duo Jets and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, ’68 push forward the pure rock traditions of audacity and disruption. Scogin gives everything to the microphone, as if singing to redeem his soul. He wields his guitar and keys like weapons, pulverizing away any false pretenses. It’s about the riff and the kick. It’s immediate. It’s alive. And it’s fun. Sweaty catharsis, cutting missives, surrendered by ’68 as if the world depends on them. Because in ’68, less is more. Oh, so much more.

THE DEVIL'S TRADE Shares Industrial Remix of "Dead Sister," ft. John Connor (LLNN)

Dark folk project THE DEVIL'S TRADE has teamed up with industrial noise collective JOHN CONNOR (ft. members of LLNN) to collaborate on a new creative approach for the track "Dead Sister," which is taken from the band's latest opus, 'The Call of the Iron Peak.' With the incorporation of dark beats and other electronic additions, a new sonic version was born; 'Dead Sister Merope!'

THE DEVIL'S TRADE comments on the collaboration: "Only a handful of bands create such worlds I can relate to and when I saw LLNN in Budapest a few years ago, I immediately became a fan. So when Rasmus and Ketil asked me about their new electronic project, John Connor, I had a very hard time not to act like a crazy fanboy. Being a singer songwriter without a band I can build my songs up to a certain level but never to its full potential. They built it to a higher level where I am not able to go alone and where it became bigger than just a song."

JOHN CONNOR comments on the collaboration: "With admiration for sci-fi music composers such as Alex North (Stanley Kubrick, 2001 - A Space Odyssey), Jóhan Jóhannsson (Denis Villeneuve, Arrival) and of course Brad Fiedel (James Cameron, Terminator) our creative approach was to launch 'Dead Sister' into space and in orbit. To create 'something else' light years apart from the original. Though still by maintaining the integrity and sincerity of the vocals. We’ve been enjoying the music from The Devil’s Trade for quite some time now, so it’s been a great experience to finally be working together. It's an interesting match of musical expressions formed by the same DNA."

'The Call of the Iron Peak' is out NOW and can be ordered, streamed, and downloadedHERE.

Listen to the call of the Iron Peak. It is calling for you to find your true self in a world you want to be isolated from. It is calling for you to make peace with yourself, with the inevitable end. It is calling for Hungarian singer-songwriter Dávid Makó, who redefined himself as The Devil’s Trade a few years ago, embarking on a long journey with his deeply personal and dark, sometimes doom infused folk songs.

Be it the folk of the Appalachians or the tales of Hungarian and Transylvanian traditionals, The Devil’s Trade fuses his past of metal and his roots laying deep in the folk songs of his immediate surroundings.

Very much like how the Iron Peak, a mountaintop both metaphorical and literal is calling for Makó, he is calling for you to share his rituals of loves and hopes lost and found along the pilgrimage of his. It is after all, the journey itself that matters the most, and how you adapt. From basements in his hometown of Budapest, to all corners of Europe, stages small and big, The Devil’s Trade has been relentlessly walking on his path finding his voice and calling, and that is to let listeners to glimpse into himself through his heart wrenching songs.

His new album, and his debut for Season of Mist, titled ‘The Call of the Iron Peak’ is to be released August 28, 2020.

FUATH Shares Music Video for New Single, "Into the Forest of Shadows"

FUATH, the atmospheric black metal offshoot of SAOR’s Andy Marshall, will be releasing its upcoming full-length 'II,' on March 19 via Season of Mist Underground Activists. FUATH is now sharing the official music video for the second new single from the offering, "Into the Forest of Shadows,"

Pre-orders for 'II' are available now HERE.

Translated as “hatred” in Gaelic, FUATH is the atmospheric black metal offshoot of SAOR’s Andy Marshall. Taking inspiration from arguably black metal’s most fertile and explosive period — the early to mid-1990s — the music channels the unrelenting tenor and iciness of forebears BURZUM, DARKTHRONE and MAYHEM.

Originally slated as a one-off project after the release of 2016’s I, Marshall has decided to turn FUATH into a serious project. Early 2021 will see the release of the band’s second album, II, via Season of Mist’s Underground Activists sub-label.

Marshall’s Scottish roots seemingly belie a Scandinavian black metal influence. While SAOR leans heavily on Scottish themes and melodies that he has classified as “Caledonian” metal, FUATH is a through-and-through purveyor of the black arts, firmly heralding a time when there was mystery and intrigue within extreme metal. BURZUM and DARKTHRONE were Marshall’s initial black metal discoveries and DRUDKH and WINDIR provided balance due to their unyielding ability to convey atmosphere. It adds up to an array of influences dedicated solely to recapturing black metal’s storied spirit and atmosphere.

The rugged landscapes, harsh climates and foreboding darkness make winter the perfect backdrop to ’90s black metal. There is perhaps no climate greater celebrated within a subgenre of metal — winter and black metal are permanently entwined. Therefore, it is no surprise that it is the favored season of many battle-tested black metaller — including Marshall, who has always been attracted to darkness in nature as well as pagan mysticism. He cites his ritual of walking through the forest in the frost and snow as “spiritual,” and the primary source of inspiration for FUATH’s new studio album.

Written during the winter of 2019 and then recorded in August and September 2020 at Fortriu Studios in Scotland, ‘II’ features Marshall handling vocals and all instrumentation except for drums, which were performed by Carlos Vivas in Spain. Whereas ‘I’ dutifully remained within the boundaries of conventional black metal, ‘II’ finds the songs going further into the frozen plains with elaborate doses of melody, ominous riffing and hypnotic blast-beat sections. ‘II’ marks a huge progression for Fuath from ‘I’. When writing the debut album, Marshall was treading FUATH as a side-project and didn’t have a formalized idea of how he wanted it to sound. In contrast, ‘II’ is an improvement across the board with better-crafted songs, sharper black metal vocals from Marshall and enhanced production values.

In contrast to SAOR’s lyrics about Scottish heritage and history, Marshall has decided to keep FUATH’s lyrics behind a veil of secrecy and will not be released along with the album. It’s another throwback to black metal of the 1990s when its core constituents were dark and evasive in both presentation and their lyrics. However, song titles such as “The Pyre,” “Into the Forest of Shadows” and “Endless Winter” do, at least, give a glimpse into Marshall’s headspace — they leave plenty to the imagination, especially in the context of the cold and wintry landscape depicted on the album’s cover art.

After the release of ‘I’ in 2016, Marshall often stated in interviews that FUATH would be a “one-off” project with no chance for future recordings. But, the never-ending desire to travel into the dark the wilderness of black metal’s most chaotic — and beloved — period was too much to resist. FUATH is now a serious band and has shed its side-project status, ensuring that Marshall will be venturing back into the heart of winter for future releases.

"Together with the emotion of going acoustic, we also had the chance to write some brand new tracks for this acoustic EP, moving away from the original style of the band. Even though we released tracks like “Gaia” or “Scent of Dye” before, “Paint The World” is a semi-acoustic ballad that would have been hard to include in any other TEMPERANCE’s record as it too much in between the acoustic world and the electric world. Like many other times in TEMPERANCE’s history, we immediately took advantage of this possibility that Napalm gave us, to experiment with something different and new. I believe in this song as you can clearly feel the influences of our youth, the alternative rock of the early 2000s, and the beginning of our musical dreams: the dreams of a bunch of kids who wanted to paint their own picture of this world.“

Furthermore, Michele Guaitoli comments on the Melodies Of Green And Blue EP:

"We’ve been talking about recording some acoustic versions of our tracks for a long time, as we all love the intimate and emotional feeling that this particular style can offer to any tracks. If you think of it, this is how most of our songs are composed: it’s Marco on his guitar or me on the piano. Everything for us begins in acoustic before going metal.

This EP is a little dream come true, as we can finally show the heart of our music in its purest version."

In celebration of Melodies Of Green And Blue’s release, TEMPERANCE will perform an acoustic show via live stream on Friday, Feb 19 (8PM CET). Get your tickets for the show HERE!

About GAEREA:
GAEREA challenges the archetype of black metal, coloring outside of the genre's lines with melancholy, texture and passion. 'Limbo' devours the listener with misanthropic catharsis and cinematic agony, delivering palpable emotion for 52 uninterrupted minutes. Lose yourself in the abyss.

About THE LION'S DAUGHTER:
The Lion’s Daughter broke new ground through bold experimentations with ‘Future Cult,’ defying all generic categories with a record that could easily serve as the score to a Dario Argento film. Now, the band picks up where it left off, once again delivering an opus that cannot be labeled or defined. ‘Skin Show’ is the soundtrack to Times Square in the 1970s - the epicenter of sin and salacious misdeeds; a haven for sex, drugs, and crime beneath the inviting glow of neon signs from sleazy adult video stores; a place one wouldn’t dare walk alone after midnight. Eerie synths coalesce with the foundations of death, black, and doom metal, creating a cinematic atmosphere that grabs the listener by the throat immediately. ‘Skin Show’ is a record that fits in all boxes, and yet, at the same time, it fits in none at all.

About OBSIDIAN KINGDOM:
OBSIDIAN KINGDOM is devoted to exploring the boundaries of rock music. The Barcelonan band defies classification to this very day, drawing equally on progressive rock, post-metal, alternative and electronic music. However hard to pigeonhole, it remains consistent with delivering exciting artistry that never fails to surprise the audience. ‘Meat Machine’ is an exercise in self-expression, through a head-first plunge into the anxiety derived from sexual frustration, the absurd of reality and the inherent cruelty of a mechanized world. It is an emotional roller-coaster featuring an abrasive and overwhelming sound that draws equally from noise and art rock, post metal and late 90s alternative music.

THE LION'S DAUGHTER Unveils NSFW Music Video for New Song, "Sex Trap'

St. Louis synth metal trio THE LION'S DAUGHTER will be releasing their fourth full-length, 'Skin Show,' on April 9 via Season of Mist! The band is now premiering the unnerving and NSFW music video for the brand new single, "Sex Trap." The clip features visuals from Mothmeister and Guilherme Henriques, the latter of whom created the video, can be seen here.

Frontman Rick Giordano comments, "Whatever you think this song is about, you are probably wrong... it’s about something much, much worse."

'Skin Show' could serve as the soundtrack to Times Square in the 1970s - the epicenter of sin and salacious misdeeds; a haven for sex, drugs, and crime beneath the inviting glow of neon signs from sleazy adult video stores; a place one would not dare walk alone after midnight unless tempted by devil himself. Its deviant, raw, nasty, disturbing, and yet, the most lively, evolved, and polished version of the trio yet.

'Skin Show' is available now for pre-orders HERE.

Skin Show could serve as the soundtrack to Times Square in the 1970s - the epicenter of sin and salacious misdeeds; a haven for sex, drugs, and crime beneath the inviting glow of neon signs from sleazy adult video stores; a place one would not dare walk alone after midnight unless tempted by devil himself. Its deviant, raw, nasty, disturbing, and yet, the most lively, evolved, and polished version of the trio yet.

For the first part of its career, The Lion’s Daughter was deeply rooted in blackened sludge metal. However, when it came time for album number three, the St. Louis trio abandoned all tradition and traversed into new territory through bold experimentations with Future Cult, a synth-laden metal record that could easily serve as the score to a Dario Argento film. Now, the band picks up where it left off, once again delivering an opus that cannot be labeled or defined. “The synths were always something that I heard in my head, but just couldn't figure out the logistics,” explains frontman Rick Giordano regarding the distinct directional change. “I also had to completely stop giving a fuck about how anyone might react to them. Most of the synths on Future Cult are very aggressive and rooted in horror, which I think was a safe way to use them. For this record, I wanted to stop playing it safe. I wanted to use more natural synth sounds and let things take on soft and somber tones at times, rather than just screaming alongside the guitars at all times. There was a lot of experimenting to see what other roles the synths could play in the music and what shapes they could create. I think we spent our early years as a band just trying to figure out who we were, and on Future Cult, the answer became clear to us. Instead of changing that formula, we chose to expand on it and see where else it could lead.”

While Skin Show is rife with the trepidation of eerie synths and a cinematic atmosphere much like its former, it is not a replica, nor does it follow the same formulaic approach. Future Cult delivered darkness in excess – heavy, unnerving, and unmistakably inspired by vintage horror and sci-fi movie scores. In contrast, Skin Show is its brighter counterpart, capturing an essence that, on the surface, might seem tamer and more palatable in comparison. However, the album still dwells deep in deviance. Each passage, no matter how glossy, is offset with belligerent vocals and lyrics that detail sexual violence, shame, abuse, desperation, and paranoia. It’s the type of record that can easily garner coveted radio airplay, and yet, it can also serve as the background playlist for a BDSM orgy in an illegal dungeon or abandoned warehouse. “This was our attempt at a straight-forward pop record,” says Giordano. “It, of course, all still came out fucked because it's us creating it. But I tried to imagine our band playing a giant arena and what that would sound like. I wanted to strip away some of the chaos and just write stronger songs. I didn't want the band to mellow out, but I did want to see if we could mature a bit. If the previous album was an intense sci-fi slasher, this one would be closer to a Hitchcock or DePalma film.”

Make no mistake, while there is a blatant antithesis between the band’s two personalities, the duality is a major part of Skin Show’s identity. Reflected not only in the music, but also through the ominous and unsettling artwork created by Mothmeister. When asked about the collaboration, Giordano says, “We worked with Mothmeister again for the album art and used a similar approach as we did with the music. Things are stripped down, more direct, more focused. There's a sense of fear, isolation, and madness that very much correlates with the music. The character on the outside is in white and surrounded in light, while the character on the inside is in black surrounded by darkness. But it's ultimately two sides of the same character. I think that's a good representation of the themes within the album, dark things within people that they may want to keep hidden.”

The Lion’s Daughter may elude all characterization, fitting in all boxes while also fitting in none at all, but one thing is for certain, the genuine artistry behind Skin Show is forthright and undeniable. Whether it be a poppy opus like the title track or the haunting and sludgy vibes of “The Chemist,” all ten tracks are guaranteed to be bangers, holding the listener at knifepoint and demanding their attention with each and every note.

Metal-folk outfit Manntra releases saga-like 'Barren King' single ahead of new album

Mysterious. Powerful. Magical. On March 26th, the cracking new album 'Monster Mind Consuming' by sensational and mystical folk-rock outfit Manntra will finally be released. Ahead of this, the band previews this epic emotion-filled efolk-metal masterpiece with the single 'Barren King'. Epic, powerful and full of pain, this song offers a potent taster of the forthcoming album.

From the first second, you feel the pain of the Barren King, forever cursed to sail the cold, dark sea. He seeks (in vain) a cure for his torments. He is the king of outsiders, having nothing but his heart and his faith. He refuses to give up, continuing to forge forward, full of hope in finally experiencing salvation. With epic choirs, this song captivates with its beguiling folk-rock sounds, pulling you under its spell without any chance of escaping.

'Monster Mind Consuming' is the band's second English-language album. Here, Croatian folk influences merge with metal and industrial to create a perfectly staged, highly independent musical symbiosis. These songs all have what it takes to reach a new dimension in the dark circus.

Earlier, the band released album singles 'Slave' and 'Ori Ori', casting a real thunderstorm of sound, and 'Voices of The Sea', with its more traditional bent.

“This is essentially a war album. A battle cry for life. It covers topics like fear, war, being strong and going through a difficult time or heartbreak, being a slave to your fears and being set free in the end. It's a war against your own insecurities; a war against yourself - and we want you to win this fight! It's about every single fan and listener of the album. It's an album by people for people," says Manntra vocalist Marko M. Sekul, who also produced the album.

"We gave this album our all. We created different songs, tried new things with production and wrote the most intense and darkest songs ever. For me, this is the real face of Manntra - A dark journey through folk, industrial and gothic."

Written collectively by the band members, this is a harmonious representation of all five members. With their unmistakeabe sound, Manntra has to be experienced live. A little Rammstein and a little Eisbrecher with a Balkan touch in the style of System of a Down. Summoning a storm of excitement, their music has enormous earworm potential.

The 'Barren King' single is out now, available across online stores and streaming platforms, including Spotify. 'Monster Mind Consuming' will be released on March 26 and can already be pre-ordered on CD and as a limited fanbox.
